Coccinella’s “true form” is a metaphor for her finally revealing her true self at the end, or, what she believes to be her true self. The context is that she has just been de-akumatized and is angry that she failed (her plan while akumatized didn’t entirely go through). Here, she has to rely on Noire and Shadow’s help too to finally defeat Hawkmoth.

Throughout the series, Noire is trying to peace together exactly who Coccinella is as a person and we get bits and pieces of her true motivations, beliefs, and values throughout the story. The true form is supposed to be a visual representation of that. That’s why I made it look small, simple and somewhat pathetic, since that is secretly how Lila views herself the entire time.

I don’t plan on really doing anything with the love square. Adrien and Marinette learn each other’s identities and eventually fight Hawk moth together but that’s pretty much it. I’m focusing more on the side ships from cannon for this one (Lukanette and Adrien +Kagami).

As for Chloe- yes, I hate her cannon characterization in season 4-5 with a burning passion. I don’t think I’ve ever seen writing that has made me this livid before, seriously.

In my au, Zoe shows up early, in season 2. The two girls work together to help Chloe throw a party as an apology to her class (despair bear) and begin to like each other after that. They continue to progress their relationship, and Zoe gets the pig Miraculous mid season 2. During the finale of season 2, Audry comes to town, upsetting Chloe due to her obvious favoritism towards Zoe. The girls finally have an argument, in which Zoe reveals that she’s Henwin, which Chloe takes poorly. This all culminates In Henwin being akumatized and Chloe being called on as Drakina to save the day. Chloe reveals both of their identities to the public, which causes some issues later on, but honestly not as many as cannon would have us believe. Anyway, Chloe and Zoe’s relationship is strengthened and continues to develop in season 3. Neither girl becomes a villain or even a bad person by the end. Chloe gets to keep her redemption arc.

A few people have been asking about my Miraculous Coccinella AU, wondering if I was still working on it. The short answer is yes.

The long answer is under the cut:

So. I’ve been working on this au for a long time now. It was kind of my passion project I was keeping under wraps due to the fact that I had a lot of fun plot twists in mind and all that jazz- you can kinda see some of those plot ideas in my character concept designs above. I have full scripts and even a comic page done for this au- however- I don’t think I’ll be working a lot on this in the near future. I love the story and designs I’ve come up with, but I’ve honestly just been more interested in other fandoms and stories recently, including one about my current ocs (they have become my obsession recently).

I’ve really hated season 5 of Miraculous in all honesty (the handling of Chloe, Luka, and Gabriel is quite honestly atrocious), and I haven’t had as much interest in this au as season 5 progressed as a result. I’ve been quite frankly falling out of love with the show, making my motivation to work on this project not as high. This coupled with the fact that I’ve been rather burnt out lately has resulted in me posting less often.

I guess what I’m saying is that while I might post a few things here and there for Miraculous Coccinella (and miraculous in general) I don’t think it will be frequent or a full blown project or anything. That being said, feel free to ask me any questions regarding this au- it was my baby for a while and it still kinda holds a place in my heart. Maybe one day I’ll do something with it, but for now, I’m going to keep it on the down low. Thanks for reading if you got this far, haha.

What type of ships are you going to be doing for your au? Also what's your favorite miraculous ship in general?

So I’m definitely planning on doing Lukanette (Luka/Marinette), DjWifi (Alya/Nino), and Lila/Adrien. Lila/Adrien would be far less stable than the other two.

I’m also considering Adrien/Kagami, and Lila/Zoe as well, although those two relationships are less set in stone.

As for my favorite ship in general, I like DjWifi best :)

Can I just say that I LOVE how you’re delving into mental health in your Miraculous AU? I love how you don’t shy away from basically every one of the Miraculous characters having some sort of mental health issue! This show could be such an amazing rep for so many people and identities but I guess the writers just lack the creativity and insight to utilize their show in such a good way. They’ve proven time and time again that they can’t reach the full potential of the idea behind ML.

Anyway, I love your art and your AU idea! I’m new here, so is there a fic to go with it? Or are you planning a comic? Or is it just assorted pieces of fanart ideas? Either way, I’m here for it! 💜

Thank you!!! I haven’t got an actual fic up and running yet, but I’m currently planning on a comic. I’m in school rn though, so it might take a while for me to actually finish anything, haha.

Most of the mental health stuff I listed is heavily based off of what I saw while watching the show (Marinette definitely shows signs of anxiety and ADHD within show for example). I’m definitely no mental health professional, but I am studying special education at my university. This and the fact that half of my family (including myself) are neurodivergent has made me more aware and able to pick these things out in a show.

I really love shows that tackle mental health issues, especially since most of the people I know have some kind of mental health issue (especially after covid). Thats kinda why a lot of what I write and read heavily involves mental health topics. That, and I’m just kinda a nerd, and this happens to be my favorite field of study.

[2/3] Chloe’s personality is very intriguing; if you decide that you like the idea of Chloe coming in later having not grown up in Paris with the others (maybe Audrey sends Zoe to Paris first and Chloe second in the AU timeline or something) a lot of what you’ve brainstormed makes sense growing up with someone like Audrey, for both sisters honestly. I can see Audrey being just as likely to snatch up both of her daughters to raise by herself in this AU as she was to just leave them with their fathers given her in-universe character of wanting things done HER way ALL the time, whichever way that leans.

I’m gonna be honest- Chloe is a really hard character for me to nail down. Her nature is just so different from mine, haha.

I do know that both sisters have been exposed to Audrey for an extended period of time. It’s going to be interesting figuring them both out since Zoe and Chloe have very different personalities, but similar upbringings. A psychological study if you will.

I’m excited to work on it anyway

Looking forward to see what you have in store for Aurore and Sabrina, whether as main or background characters! Interesting to see Sabrina having a darker color scheme; is she friends with Juleka or something to that effect?

I absolutely love how you’re making Kagami and Luka stand out as their own characters! I like how Kagami’s bluntness isn’t portrayed as malicious and Luka’s relaxed nature is a realistic flaw when taken too far. Interested to see whether you decide to have Marinette and Luka start dating earlier or later in the school year since Adrien’s pulled out after the first akuma and isn’t on Marinette’s radar.

Aurore and Sabrina are both going to be background characters, but they will both be slightly different from cannon (Aurore gets to interact a bit with Lila and Sabrina won’t be as influenced by Chloe for example). I have a vision of Sabrina being a professional DM bouncing around in my head that won’t leave me alone (maybe it’s just the nerd in me)

As for Luka- that’s a spoiler, haha (that is, if I ever actually get around to writing it... hopefully!)
