A few people have been asking about my Miraculous Coccinella AU, wondering if I was still working on it. The short answer is yes.

The long answer is under the cut:

So. I’ve been working on this au for a long time now. It was kind of my passion project I was keeping under wraps due to the fact that I had a lot of fun plot twists in mind and all that jazz- you can kinda see some of those plot ideas in my character concept designs above. I have full scripts and even a comic page done for this au- however- I don’t think I’ll be working a lot on this in the near future. I love the story and designs I’ve come up with, but I’ve honestly just been more interested in other fandoms and stories recently, including one about my current ocs (they have become my obsession recently).

I’ve really hated season 5 of Miraculous in all honesty (the handling of Chloe, Luka, and Gabriel is quite honestly atrocious), and I haven’t had as much interest in this au as season 5 progressed as a result. I’ve been quite frankly falling out of love with the show, making my motivation to work on this project not as high. This coupled with the fact that I’ve been rather burnt out lately has resulted in me posting less often.

I guess what I’m saying is that while I might post a few things here and there for Miraculous Coccinella (and miraculous in general) I don’t think it will be frequent or a full blown project or anything. That being said, feel free to ask me any questions regarding this au- it was my baby for a while and it still kinda holds a place in my heart. Maybe one day I’ll do something with it, but for now, I’m going to keep it on the down low. Thanks for reading if you got this far, haha.

Who should I draw next? Naruto with the Fox miraculous? Or Sasuke with the Black Cat miraculous?

(also, for reference, this would be part 1 Sakura, so she would be 13 here, I might draw Shippuden Sakura as well with a better suit, but only after I draw Sasuke and Naruto first. I’ll probably end up drawing all of them as part 1 first, and then a Shippuden version after)

Scarlett Coccinelle and Kitty Noire AU

"Origins"

- Chloé and Zoé woke up and take breakfast together. With Butler Jean, without their patents (André have "more important" things in his office, Audrey is in New York);

- They take the box of their handmade macarons to the school (mainly, to impress Marinette);

- While going to lycee, the Bourgeois Twins notices an old man (Master Fu) crossing the street and decided to help him. After that, a girl on roller blades loses control and bumping into Fu. Chloé and Zoé holds both to prevent them from falling and after they recognize in this girl their old friend, Alix;

- Alix is happy to see the twins again after some years being in Egypt. She revealed that she will be in the same class with the Bourgeois, which makes all the girls happy;

- All of them entered the class and saw that Kim is being a dick to Ivan about his love letter to Mylène. Zoé wanted to punch Kim's face but Ivan did it first. "You punch like a girl," Kim said, which makes Ivan more angry as he leaves the class;

- Ivan takes the akuma and became Stoneheart, Kim is his target;

- Chloé and Zoé runs to their household to be safe when they saw Chinese-styled boxes;

Chloé: I didn't know that Marinette leaves some presents for us.

Zoé: Me neither.

- They opened the boxes and saw earrings and a ring. And also kwamis;

- Tikki and Plagg explains all the stuff to the girls as they became full of joy because they can become superheroes;

- And this is how Scarlett Coccinelle and Kitty Noire were born. Chloé is SC, Zoé is KN;

- While fighting Stoneheart, they save Kim (Ivan's target), Mylène (she is here to comfort Ivan) and Alya (she is filming all of this) before defeating him;

- After the fight and detransformation, the Bourgeois Twins met Marinette at school and thanks her for their presents. Marinette is confused because she didn't leave any presents in their room. After that, they decides to exchange their macarons which makes all of the blush;

- Adrien showed up. Chloé, Zoé and Alix, his old friends, runs to hug him and greet him which makes Marinette jealous;

- After the classes, Sabrina and Aurore bullies Mylène for no reason, Ivan stands up for her and it was at this moment when Kim hits him;

- Ivan became Stoneheart again;

- Chloé and Zoé turns into Scarlett Coccinelle and Kitty Noire. Now Zoé is SC and Chloé is KN;

- Stoneheart takes Marinette because he believes that she is still have a crush on Kim. Marinette tries to say that this is bullshit. Stoneheart drops her;

- SC and KN saw Marinette falling and they both saves her. And here comes gay panic from all of them;

- Stoneheart is defeated, akuma is purified;

- After the fight, the twins have an idea: as they are the only people who knows each other's identity and they are twins, they can switch the Miraculouses whenever they can;

- "The Umbrella Scene". Wait, here me out, please;

- The Bourgeois POV: they saw Adrien and Marinette together and they are jealous because Marinette isn't with them;

- Marinette's POV: she tell Adrien that, yes, she was jealous. But only because Chloé and Zoé were with him and not with her. She basically confesses that she have a crush on both of Bourgeois Twins;

- Adrien's POV: he now knew that Chloé and Zoé are both have a crush on Marinette and that Marinette have a crush on both Chloé and Zoé.

We're getting some ChloZoenette in this?

Opposites Detract AU part 2

Ok so as you can see in the picture, Marinette is Multimouse… but is that all she is?

For the first “season” or less, she is a civilian. She is free to live her life normally without having to take any unnecessary risks. Until she runs into this old man (master fu) and helps him out. I always thought this would be during feast or a situation like that, where either he’s in turtle hero form and she acts as a shield for him, or helps him like the first episode as a civilian. Either way, Master fu remembers this. He tests her more than he did chat noir and la coccinelle because it turned out pretty poor last time. He has paranoia. But Marinette is a pure soul so he leads her to his shop and reveals the miraculous to her eventually, UNBEKNOWNST TO CHAT NOIR AND LA COCCINELLE. Because while he was hoping the next guardian would have been ladybug, he needed a person he could truely trust. And that turned out to be Marinette. She becomes the guardian for the same reasons in the original, it becomes to dangerous for him to continue and he loses his memory. But Marinette continues to work in his shop (a cover for guardian duties).

Lila and Adrien also “work” at his antique shop but neither of them know she’s the new guardian (yet) I’m not sure if they’d find out immediately after master fu has to quit, or Marinette keeps up the charade a little longer. I think it’s more fun to imagine her knowing more than she let on.

When she meets master fu at first and starts training under him, she doesn’t get to keep a miraculous. She works under a lot more conditions than the others do since her job keeping secrets is incredibly important and fu still struggles to trust her. Eventually she proves herself of course, but the pressure of being guardian is so much to handle.

Adrien was going to be a guardian at first since he gained more of Fu’s trust than Lila, but since he has the Kwami of destruction, just like that other guardian man that I can’t remember the name of, they all have some kind of bias against them. He couldn’t trust him not to take the miraculous of the ladybug and grant a wish, even if he kept that from him. He also just doesn’t get along with La coccinelle at all, so he couldn’t have someone with a bias be guardian (he’s hypocritical).

More about Adrien: As cat noir he doesn’t get to be his flirtatious persona he originally has, instead he takes on a more serious altruistic approach since he is pretty hated unanimously by the public. His persona becomes more of a lie, as he tries to undo all of the hatred that came from the destruction of Paris that first day. Think of goro akechi in persona 5; he learns to distain his constant visual presence, the fact on and off the job he is constantly being watched. There’s not a moment that either one of his selves is on tv. And because he’s being filmed there are quick moments the news capture of him being kind to the public and turning around with a resentful face on. He doesn’t totally get to enjoy his freedom as chat noir since the police always try to capture him. But they fail to, and there’s a still a small few of fans of theirs that defend them.

Basically he gets cancelled a lot. 😅

La coccinelle is allowed to pick a miraculous to help her ONE TIME by Master fu, and she picked Chloe Bougeious with the bee miraculous. Chloe accepted and caused a lot of mayhem. Which was fixed. But after that was when he met Marinette and started planning defense and strategy with her. So the next time they needed help, he sent Marinette as multimouse which pissed Lila off because it made her think master fu still didn’t believe she could handle it. When really it was a mix of both not trusting her, and the fact that Marinette was prepared for a lot longer then she was.

This makes lila have a one-sided beef with multimouse, even though she’s secretly her civilian crush Marinette. Love square? Ehh. What Lila doesn’t realize is behind the scenes Marinette doesn’t hold any ill-will for Coccinelle. In fact, she defends her to master fu and convinces him to give Lila more freedom more often. But of course, doesn’t know this. And the unspoken beef continues.

Now, for Kagami and Luka’s place in this story.

While Marinette is a civilian she meets Luka and they become friends very quickly. Same with Adrien and kagami. But at this point in time, Adrien doesn’t really have a crush on kagami, since the slippery slope of coincidences caused Adrien to have a crush on Marinette first. Kagami however seems to be the only one who sees this darkness brewing in Adrien (emo I know, but I digress) Kagami, does in fact, gain a crush on Adrien because she thinks he’s like her- lost in this world, without a lot of friends to help.

Luka and Marinette however, still get together but after Marinette becomes a guardian. They don’t last very long because of this, because her constant work between the bakery, the antique shop, guardianship etc. makes her late to everything they plan to do together. Luka ends things believing that Marinette only likes him as a friend and that’s why she puts work ahead of him everytime. This breaks Marinette’s heart, even though she understands, so she accidentally ends up saying in front of Adrien that she’s not dating anymore, and is focusing on her career. Marinette is oblivious to the fact that both lila and Adrien have a crush on her.

Marinette sees that Luka is responsible and puts his feelings aside for the greater good and chooses him to have the snake miraculous part time. When she is multimouse, she’s pretty awkward around him since things left off kind of sad, but since Superion doesn’t know that Marinette is multimouse, he just assumes she’s shy or doesn’t like him. This is obviously not true. In fact, Luka becomes the more “chat noir” type in this, teasing the group and very lightly flirting with her. BECAUSE IT WOULD BE FUNNY AND UNPREDICTABLE. I see him being very suave with his harp. Like every musician is lol.

Kagami and Adrien don’t work out either, because deep down, even if he is getting more resentful of being pushed around and molded into a person he doesn’t know, he still is naturally kind hearted and knows that his resentment won’t last….. hopefully. And Kagami only has that, and fencing in common with him, at least in this universe so they stay friends. Plus she meets Felix anyways.

Speaking of Felix. He.. generally stays the same? Here’s the difference, when he say them on the news on day he judged them. Then when he saw/ met more of chat noir, he started to believe that they were like him and saw the world the same way as he did and starts to commit similar atrocities in the show with the peacock miraculous in hopes that since they were the same, they’d leave him be.

Since chat noir is growing increasingly disdainful, he more or less does want to leave him alone, but the part of him that knows it’s his duty wins every time since he is , still, a little more responsible in this than the show.

Also a reminder, Adrien doesn’t start out like this, he’s still the show’s version at the beginning, he just changes with every situation they find themselves in. So when Felix eventually comes to meet him, he assumes Adrien is the same as always- a goody two shoes who does what he’s told. That couldn’t be further from the truth 😂

Adrien is similar to Felix but still mostly tries to act like his old self, since it’s easier and gets him places. But when Felix comes over and is cold, Adrien gets frustrated and his resentful, chat noir self comes to life. Felix was so stunned by the slip up that he just, shut up. And left. Very confused.

Anyways I have many different ways of imagining Felix seeing the more contemptuous Adrien. He becomes much more interested in him. He wants to learn more, because maybe he’s not alone.

Idk what do you guys think? Should Adrien be the guardian? What would Alya’s role be? Pls reblog more ideas and add on to the AU!

Sorry if you’ve answered this before, but why is the side effect of the ladybug miraculous seeing angel numbers/getting into astrology/gambling? How does that connect to ladybugs?

Les effets secondaires de ladybug sont sur le fait qu'elle commence à, voire des signes de chance par tout, car c'est miss chance est que la coccinelle est considérée comme un insecte chanceux. Donc c'est pour ça que Marinette pense des fois à parier son rein gauche dans des combats de coq :)

First of all, this au is actually a collaboration between me, @knifesimmons, @innocentmapleleaf & @necromancer-snail over on the dead ppl detective agency server. Now I think the best place to start, is a character introduction:

Heroes:

Edwin/Coccinelle: Edwin is the holder of the ladybug miraculous. His strict yet absent parents, have homeschooled him up until recently, since he’s decided to go to school.

Charles/Jinx: Charles is the holder of the black cat miraculous. He’s transformed as often as possible, and absolutely loves the freedom it has given him. Plagg is incredibly protective of him, because of his poor home life.

Crystal/Panthera: Crystal is the holder of the tiger miraculous. She frequently crossed paths with the hero boys, before becoming a holder, because of her ex Davids tendency of getting akumatized constantly, like an infinitely worse version of Mr. Pigeon.

Niko/Inoshishi: Niko is the holder of the pig miraculous. She runs this aus version of the Ladyblog; “The Coccinelle Chronicles”, she has so many videos, that she can’t post to it, because it would reveal her identity.

Jenny/Tau: Jenny is the holder of the ox miraculous. She is incredibly tired of a certain cat, always sleeping on her awning/roof, but at least it gets her more customers. She has to be the responsible adult in the group, and she definitely did not sign up for it.

Villains:

Esther/Hawkmoth: Esther is the holder of the butterfly miraculous. I mean she’s Esther Finch, need I say more.

Monty/Pavonis: Monty is the holder of the peacock miraculous. He’s a senti monster, but isn’t aware of it yet. He secretly works for Esther, but eventually gets redeemed.

Additional cast:

The Night Nurse/Gaurdian: NN is the guardian of the miraculous, and is the one tasked with picking the holders. She’s also dating a certain Ms. Jenny Green.

Death/Grand Master: we haven’t talk much about her role in the story yet.

Also they wear school uniforms (styled after Edwin’s uniform in the comics), for no other reason then I wanted to, and no one can stop me.

Day 4. Spooky day. This was a bit complicated, but I did my best.

Day 4: Spooky

If there was a trope Ladybug was terrified of, it was “The Villain Knows Where You Live”. It meant no refuge, no shelter, no life outside of battle, and her parents in danger. It meant the end of her life as she knew it. And as she came back from patrol, she saw it had happened.

“Where are the other Miraculous?!” demanded the being with caterpillars over the eyes as he stood in Marinette’s bedroom, holding the Miraculous box missing the Miraculous she had already reassigned.

Ladybug didn’t answer, she just threw a sewing kit at the creature’s head, grabbed the Box with the yo-yo while he was distracted, and ran.

The being was giving chase, somewhat slower than expected but impossible to be lost – and at one point firing a qi wave at her, disrupting her attempt to summon a Lucky Charm. Nevermind, by now she had led him where she wanted, right where the new holder of the Turtle Miraculous was waiting. And she knew how powerful Nora was.

“Caterpillar Man, stand down or face the might of Venus!” the holder announced, declaring the name she had INSISTED someone would give her at the first group encounter, something about ring names in Muay Thai being given and not chosen (at least it explained Anansi), and Grand’Goule, the new Dragon holder, immediately suggesting Venus as a joke (Nora declared it at her first battle without googling it, and nobody wanted to be around the day she’d do it).

The creature stopped, touched the caterpillars with some irritation, then replied: “As much as I appreciate people finally remembering she was a war goddess, what has Venus to do with turtles?”

“Smartest Ninja Turtle in that show. Not that it took much, with the writing… Anyway, surrender or be destroyed.”

The caterpillar man didn’t answer. Rather, he started waving his hands to form a semicircle, up until Venus threw her shield at him, forcing him to dodge. She followed up with a powerful cross and a kick, both of which were barely dodged.

“Too scared to use your Shell-ter against my Heaven Splitting Life or Death?” the caterpillar man asked.

“Too smart to let you try something you thought would get through, Caterpillar.” Venus replied.

“Not bad… What a pity to have to take you down.”

The enemy suddenly MOVED, so fast he almost disappeared even to Ladybug’s magically augmented eyes and with such force he left an imprint of his (already ruined) shoes on the concrete he started from, and struck Venus with a straight kick so powerful to break through her guard, followed by… Poking her shoulders? He then had to move away to dodge a knee strike, but seemed surprisingly smug.

“SHIT!” Venus shouted, keeping her arms down for some reason. “Can’t move my arms, he’s using fucking Dimak! JUMPER!”

At that call Jolly Jumper, the new bearer of the Horse Miraculous (Kim. A Lucky Luke fan) opened a portal and whisked Venus away, covering the escape with one of the tear gas grenades Lila had procured in case of emergencies. The same grenades Ladybug had refused to carry. Of they survived, Lila would hold it over her head for weeks.

“A Chosen that use additional weapons… La Coccinelle with her muskets was the last one.” the foe commented after dispersing the gas. “Then again she too was French, and the only French Chosen reluctant to use weapons was Tart.”

Ok, the guy knows of her predecessors. As if he wasn’t spooky enough. Something Hawk Moth didn’t know. Or did he? He knew what was written in the Grimoire now… Questions for later, now Ladybug had to resume escaping from the creature that just used a martial art everyone believed fictional. And she personally thought was even more unlikely than the Kamehameha stuff he had been flinging around, if only because pressure points are SMALL and hitting them on someone moving should be impossible.

They had tried everything they could short of Cataclysming him (and they weren’t sure it would work with his pressure point attacks), the Emergency Trio, and the time Miraculous, and had failed. A portal to the Seine under his feet, dodged. Grand’goule the Dragon holder (Chloè. How Chat Noir had pulled off the miracle and insured she would remain on their side was unknown, but she had been the one to discover Optigami and do SOMETHING to the Sentimonster that left Mayura too scared to come out and fight, going by the following Akuma’s rant) attacking in Lightning form had been foiled by the being’s staff having a steel core to act as a lightning rod, and they didn’t dare to imagine what else he had. Maya the Bee (Kagami. Why Lila, Chloè and Chat Noir laughed at the name, she didn’t want to know) tried to Venom him, and lost use of her arm. They had locked him into a Shell-ter, and the creature did in fact know how to shatter it with an energy technique. And they NEVER managed to keep him busy long enough for a Lucky Charm. They had flat-out SHOT HIM with a shotgun (Miss Hound, that is Sabrina, had marked all weapons in the police’s armory), but the being’s clothes were enchanted to be bulletproof.

And now it was the turn of the Emergency Trio, the three too terrible to bring in combat unless necessary: Purple Tigress (Juleka) with her kaijuu-shattering Clouth and longer arms than Chat Noir, Pigella (Rose) with her Gift that could stop anyone and let them vulnerable to have their throat slit (and she had actually tried it with a member of Adrien’s fan club that got Akumatized over the restraining order), and Goupil – that is, Lila with a Miraculous and other tricks.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!”

And her Agony Spray. That she sprayed right in the enemy’s face, while she and the rest of the trio were protected by gas masks.

“The hell is in that can?! Skunk musk?!” Grand’Goul asked, smelling the horrible smell at 20 meters.

“Hyperconcentrated, a birthday present from my dad.” Goupil confirmed as she handed her one of the spare masks. “The normal stuff is already bad enough to cause physical pain, let alone this.”

“Your dad is insane.”

The team witnessed an Akuma butterfly get in the poor caterpillar man’s staff, only to fail because the guy was too busy screaming I agony. Ladybug captured and purified it when it came out, while the foe screamed until he passed out from lack of oxygen.

“Ladybug-sama, could you summon a Lucky Charm and reverse everything now?” Maya asked. “I’d like my arm back, and I think the smell is starting to melt the gas masks.”

“Sure. Venus, ready to dislocate his arms as soon as the Cure removes the smell?”

“Yeah! Though I’m half considering just breaking them…” Venus confirmed.

Ladybug summoned the Lucky Charm, and got a framed portrait of the being, with a writing in Traditional Chinese script. Close enough to the “Simplified” one created to be more easily learned, but still a bit different – enough she passed It to Chat Noir, who was fluent in both.

“Let’s see… It says “Su Han, Grandmaster of the Order of the Guardians of the Miraculous”.” Chat Noir read out loud. “Wait a second, they had been destroyed!”

“Yes! Eaten by Feast, and- I think I brought them back when we destroyed Feast…” Ladybug said in realization. “Goupil, we need your bullshit.”

Afterword

And here it is! For the “Spooky” prompt there’s Su Han as he could have been, powerful, terrifying, and with bushy eyebrows that make him appear a monster in poor lightning. Who did recognize him before he was named?

He also namedropped a couple past Miraculous users from France. Tart will return later, so I’m saying nothing about her for now. As for La Coccinelle… She’s canonically the literary Aramis, and leaving aside the incredible stupidity of giving a Miraculous to a SERIAL KILLER (in the original novel he flat-out told D’Artagnan that the reason he enrolled is that he realized he was basically a serial killer in the making and the Musketeers would insure his urges were directed to worthy targets) or sticking a Musketeer of the Guard in an outfit almost identical to the uniform of their hated rivals working for Richelieu, I had Su Han mention the muskets because that’s their main weapon in wartime (they’re even named after it), and while they’re so heavy they don’t normally carry it in the peacetime service we mostly see then into the super strength granted by a Miraculous would make them practical (and the literary Aramis would totally dual wield them if he could, both because it makes him scarier and because any survivor would be less believable once they mention the Cardinal Guard that can dual wield muskets like they were pistols).

I have a new favorite ladrien moment.

When Adrien ripped the Miraculous de la Coccinelle from Monarque’s ears and passed them to Bikerbug, and Monarque looked back and saw it was his own son who’d defeated him. When Ladybug returned in her full glory.

This is what I wanted from ladrien. This is beautiful.

The betrayal in Monarque’s eyes as all his abuse comes back to bite him, his son in Ladybug’s corner. The trust and unity Ladybug and Adrien have built in every side of the love square helping them utterly overwhelm their enemies.

Miraculous Fic Recs

Recently I've been complaining a lot on the internet how sucky the recent seasons of ML have been, and how much better the old fanfics are; I'm going to prove my point by sharing my tried-and-true rec list. Here we go.

Back To Us - Written in 2017, so some things are inaccurate. Basically Marinette, as Ladybug, kills Gabriel Agreste on accident by pushing him off the Eiffel Tower and Adrien moves to Milan. Seven years later Marinette is a rising fashion designer, her long-lost partner comes back seven years later but hot, and a new Hawkmoth shows up on the very day Adrien comes back. Suspicious. INCLUDES: Antihero!Chat. Alternate superhero names for Alya, Nino + there are only seven miraculouses which honestly I like a lot better than Ladybug just busting another one out whenever she feels like it. At one point, it was the longest fic in the fandom but now it's not even close. 446k. Requires an Ao3 account to read.

Second Chances- Again, written fairly early in the fandom. Adrien is a single dad and Alya volunteers Marinette to be his daughter's nanny - the premise sounds like it could turn out really weird but I promise it's not. Adorable adorable. La Pucelle Et La Coccinelle - Absolute favorite. Explores Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc in this story) with the Ladybug Miraculous. INCLUDES: Actual historical references, lore for the miraculouses, and a flashforward to the future at the end with Marinette. 38k. I have it printed out, I love it so much.

Pray For the Children You Lost Along the Way - Silent Hill AU (Emilie Anderson from the arcade game is Adrien's mom). It has been on hiatus since 2019, but is still worth a read because so many things tie together in a satisfying way. 86k. Rated M b/c of Silent Hill-type things.

Under Lock and Key - Huge classic also published on Wattpad. Author/artist collab with Maerynn & EdenDaphne - Maerynn passed away while the fic was being written and ED finished it. Very nice art by ED. I view this fic as the quintessential 2017 era Adrienette fic. Very sweet and fluffy. 34k.

Tripped at Fencing - Gabriel hits Adrien. INCLUDES: Gabriel Agreste's A+ Parenting. Accidental identity reveal (Marinette finds out first). Only 5k but a classic.

The Butterfly and Her Brother series (Generations Past and Future) - written c. 2016. Gabriel is NOT Hawkmoth; Gabriel is not a villian in the least so technically OOC. First couple are set in the 1990s, then a couple in ~2016 and the latest in like 2044. I haven't read the last one in the series but WHATHGAWAATG (Europe gets taken over), featuring the next gen of Agrestes, is really good as well. Many things are outdated/false as this was written based off of s1, but I honestly like this interpretation of the Miraculous much better than how the show does it. Mama Agreste's name is Adele (again, s1) and I quite like her character. I freaking LOVE this series. I have it downloaded to my phone and I reread it when I'm feeling sad. 340k in total, but the longest work in the series is about 166k. SO many kudos.

"Marinette is a small studio dancer who wins a scholarship to a summer long ballet intensive. Adrien is a famous ballet dancer who would rather be at home than at said intensive. The end of the summer will bring about a showcase that could make Marinette's career, if she can ignore Chloé and focus on something other than Adrien." 82k. The slowest of burns.
