OC UNIT DOC #3

RAINBOW🌈STARBURST

A musical theatre troupe of high school kids wishing to put on a show that could inspire anyone, much like how they were inspired themselves.

Arisa Tomotaki's goal is to put on a production that anyone could enjoy, inspired by a famous actress's performance in a musical dear to his heart. However he has found himself to be an outcast in every troupe he tries to join. One day after school he meets Harumi Hachiouji, who shares a similar passion for musical theatre. The two decide to start their own musical theatre troupe, only further motivated when they stumble into Theatre SEKAI together and are informed of people sharing similar goals to them by Miku and MEIKO. Their search leads them to meeting 6 other highschoolers with a passion for musical theatre, and together they form RAINBOW🌈STARBURST. The preparations for their first performance don't go as planned, resulting in an argument caused by their differing views. However the group comes together again with the want to make the troupe work out, not wanting to go back to their shared experience of being outcasts.

Theatre SEKAI - A giant, grand theatre that advertises many different musicals, only the first floor is currently open while the second is under renovation. Miku and MEIKO are the only people currently around - MEIKO runs both the lobby's snack bar and ticket booth in the absence of the others. The other workers within SEKAI are masked human-like dolls. Miku is the leader of the troupe within SEKAI, most of their plays being the ones in the posters littered about. There are multiple stages, a room for costumes and a resting area for the actors and stage crew.

Arisa Tomotaki (可彩友滝)

His role model, a world renowned actress, has influenced him to a point where he is happier playing in female roles, which has left him outcasted in every troupe he has attempted to join.

Akari spends most of her time outside of attending Miya Girls' choreographing and performing her own dances. Her dedication lead to her being invited to join RAINBOW🌈STARBURST. She can be rather serious at times, a trait that is appreciated when some other members tend to drift off topic.

Tsunemi Hirabayashi (常観平林)

Always full of energy, Tsunemi is the group's main composer, a talent she picked up from helping her older sister with a few side projects. After Ouwa left for university, Tsunemi continued to compose, tying in her new found love for musical theatre. She hopes that she can make a piece that will truly impress her sister.

Harumi Hachiouji (明美八黄地)

Top 5 favorite famous horses let's GOOOO!!

1- Beautiful Jim Key Both horse and trainer (Dr. William P. Key) here are absolute legends! His trainer was formerly enslaved and actually fought during the American civil war. He developed medicines, taught himself veterinary skills, and became renowned for being outspoken and influential when it comes to the humane treatment of animals! The horse himself was born very sickly and was nursed to health by Dr. William Key, despite fears that he wouldn't live. He then trained Beautiful Jim Key with a unique focus on compassion and care. And it was found that he was incredibly intelligent! Fast forward, and he had trained Beautiful Jim Key in a variety of things; the alphabet, numbers, and even math- it's suspected that he could even decipher trigonometry problems!! To this day, people still have a hard time arguing that this was a hoax - in any case, it is clear that both the horse and his trainer were brilliant :)

2- Incitatus Another historical horse! This one could've been a Roman consul... Unlike Beautiful Jim Key, I have my doubts this horse is so well educated.. BUT it is said that he lived in marble stables, was attended by 18 designated servants, and was the favorite horse of Emperor Caligula! The horse is an indisputable icon ~

It's said that Emperor Caligula planned to make him a consul and, though this likely didn't happen, I absolutely love the vision... I have faith he could've created good changes for Rome, were he to have the chance ;)

3- Spirit I actually don't think I ever managed to finish this movie in my youth... watching animals in distress has never been my favorite pastime, to say the least... ;-; But I am not immune to a story highlighting animal abuse and, surprisingly to a degree, the horrifying abuse done to native peoples in the creation of the states of America. There's something hauntingly beautiful that spoke to me, even from an early age, about the freedom of a familiar landscape unmarred by modern damages. And the mistreatment of nature, animals, and native people at the hands of European invaders stuck with me.

Spirit himself is a fun character- I love the choice to have him be voiced only in internal dialogues, and still have his natural horse sounds aloud! It helps keep the story from falling into the 'human animals' pitfall that I am often frustrated with where animals are presented as humans in another shape, stripping them of their unique vocalizations and thoughts. Let animals be animals! His voiced monologues do a great job of attaching the audience to him and showing his thoughts while staying true to his equine nature! (I will admit the eyebrows are a bit goofy though, despite how handy they are for making his expressions easily readable hsajajsaj)

4- Shadowfax ("Lord of all horses") The legend, the myth!! Shadowfax is a horse that moves with impossible swiftness and actively aids in the efforts of LOTR's main story, particularly as a respected aide and peer to Gandalf the White. I love him, and all the supernatural abilities that he brings :) If I am to speak on him more, a little deeper, I would say that he is an example of the beauty of respected warhorses. There is a reason there aren't any other famous warhorses on here- I struggle to feel positively about horses (and other animals) sent into war. It's not a situation I want humans to get involved in (of course), but animals are separate from such conflicts! Seeing them be used as tools of war and violence displeases me (to say the least).

But, with Shadowfax, (and the rest of horses in LOTR), there is a focus and understanding of their sacrifices as living beings. Shadowfax is supernaturally capable and understands the tasks asked of him, willingly seeing them through. But in this he is special- horses, in general, are not known to do this in this world. They are put to task regardless, as people are without better modes of transportation and are in need of an edge during inescapable war. The deep respect the Rohirrim give to horses is well deserved, and Shadowfax is the 'Lord of all horses' for good reason. He is the ideal of the warhorse- strong, capable, willing. And, supernaturally, with a kind and brave heart that comprehends the importance of what he is asked to do.

5- Brego/Uraeus I couldn't help but do another LOTR horse- the horse that played Brego (actually named Uraeus)!! Here's another example of LOTR's narrative treating horses as more than just beasts of burden and mere symbols of nobility/strength!! Brego is the horse that Aragorn (played in the movies by Viggo Mortenson) frees after hearing of its trauma in previous battles. The horse finds him later, washed up alone and gravely injured, before helping to carry him safely to Helm's Deep. Viggo Mortenson ended up caring a lot for the horse and, after the filming of the movie, actually bought him! He also purchased a horse to give to Arwen's stunt double, as she had also bonded with the horse she had ridden :') They're genuinely so sweet!!!

I mean... just look at that behind the scenes image... ^ Precious! More so than even the ring, maybe...

I made another AU!!! ...With nothing but the paid/side costumes

Kanade is a figurehead of a queen for a falling kingdom as prices continue to rise due the administrators taking more and more from the people without her being able to take control. Minori ends up becoming her personal guard due to her athletic talent, but her clumsiness made people not want her in the main guard

Kaito is her personal tutor/advisor even if not many people listen to him. He's plotting side things that she doesn't know about however

Saki, Kohane, Tsukasa, and Touya are all part of their own photography robin hood business. Kohane is the face of it with her unsuspecting dad, who she gets to take Touya in as an apprentice. No one ever suspects her involvement. Meanwhile Saki and Tsukasa are the ones who steal from the nobles and hand off the money earned to Touya who takes it and hands it out to people who need it when he is out taking photos.

This is Kaito's side business, as he's the one who usually has the houses they can steal from

Students who always seem to know what's going on in the kingdom. If anyone ever wants information, they are the ones to go to, but they always require a price in return. Part of why they know so much is because of Meiko, a spirit who watches over them

Both the Shinonomes have a penchant for death magic. Akito is the messenger between Kaito and the Tenmas, though he only knows Kaito. Mizuki is the one to keep him safe as they are a spirit only he can see after he finds the ribbon they are attached to one day and brings them back out. Ena can also see sprits, but can only do so when she dreams, so she draws what she can remember to bring the spirits peace. Lately, she's taken to drawing Mizuki

Shizuku is the kingdom's most renown garden owner. Airi is tasked with scoping out the garden to seen if her order of ninjas would be able to kidnap her for a client of theirs. She ends up being captured when the plants come alive due to Rui's magic. He's the real owner of the garden while Shizuku lends him the land. Due to rumors of this constantly happening, there are not many people who dare to enter the garden other than Kanade. When nothing bad happens to her, Airi decides to stick with Shizuku for a while

A group of travelers. When she was younger, Haruka used to sneak out of her noble home where she eventually met An who was playing outside. After An becomes a pirate, she pretends to have kidnapped Haruka so she didn't have to stay at home anymore. With the growing popularity of Shizuku's garden, Shiho didn't want any part of it, so she ends up leaving to make her own name fore herself. Soon after An became a pirate, she met Nene who's a siren. For a while, the two would sing together without seeing each other due to Nene being in the water. With An stopping by land more often, Nene decides she wants to start joining her.

Ichika is a magician and Emu is her fairy companion. Luka is the one who is teaching Ichika and they meet Nene when she stops by to ask for a way to walk on land. She is also the one who is occasionally called to the castle if anyone needs her magic or if she could help them out with a rogue magician. Ichika is aware that Saki is doing something but hasn't worked up the courage to ask if she's alright yet.

Mafuyu is a descendent of hummingbird shifters, known for being the kingdom's iconic bird. However, the power to shift has been slowly leaving her family and her mother has been making her be her best without the power. What Mafuyu's mother doesn't know is that she has the power to shift. Honami is a tree nymph who she often visits even though she didn't know about her at first. With Honami not asking questions, she decides to stick around.

With the dying magic, Miku is ironically born with the electricity as more and more people move on and find ways without it. She often travels between trees to explore the world when she came across Honami

The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell O Zemuria details characters, story, and new battle system elements

Falcom has released new information and screenshots for The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell O Zemuria introducing characters Van Arkride, Agnes Claudel, and Bergard Zeman, as well as the story, settings, and new battle system elements.

Van Arkride (voiced by Daisuke Ono)

Age: 25

“Running away or facing yourself… At the end of the day, it’s you who makes that decision.”

A young man who works as a “Spriggan,” an occupation that helps those who have lost their way between the real world and the underworld. He may be thought to have quite a pragmatic personality due to being the only one in his family alive, but he does have his own methods when making decisions. (That being said, there is a danger his resolve may waver when in the face of his favorite sweets.) Summoned by the demon lord, he was born with the diabolic core housed inside him. Following the battle against the demon lord that separated from his body, he was able to successfully seal the diabolic core in a place between worlds.

Agnes Claudel (voiced by Miku Ito)

Age: 17

“Please, Van, don’t regret keeping the most important people of your life in your heart.”

A second-year student at the renowned Aramis High School. She has a gentle and graceful demeanor, with a strong sense of determination. She begins to work part-time at the “Arkride Solutions Office” after requesting Van in the search of a Genesis—an orbment left to her by her great-grandfather. Although she has succeeded in collecting the Oct-Genesis that was scattered throughout the republic, she continues her part-time job at the Solutions Office working under Van, who she is in love with.

Bergard Zeman (voiced by Akio Otsuka)

Age: 69

“You’ve grown so much. I am thankful for my good fortune of being your master.”

Formerly a wandering priest at the Septian Church, he is a broad and muscular elder man. As a master of the Kunlun style—one of the East’s three great martial art schools—he has many disciples all across the continent. To Van, Bergard is an important master, and a person he owes a great debt to. He cares a lot about Van, who comes from a special background, and strictly mentors him, both in martial arts and in all parts of life. Following the incident at the Republic, he travelled east. On his way, he reunites with Van, and extends a helping hand.

■ Story Prologue

“In the year 120X, everything will end.” These were the words that prophesized the demise of Zemuria by C. Epstein—Father of the Orbal Revolution. As “X Day” drew closer and closer, one Orbal rocket was to be launched from the large base built on the land of Kunlun. “Can humans reach beyond the atmosphere?” “What lies at the end of the earth?” “Will the human race be able to know the truths of this ‘world’?” As the entire world turned its focus on the biggest undertaking it has ever seen since the dawn of history, many forces from many lands were assembling at a single point—a certain young Spriggan at a certain location in the independent territory of Ored, also known as the Singularity. Will the rocket pierce through to the heavens, opening up a new future for Zemuria?

■ Settings / Keywords

Operation Startaker

A large project on a national scale advanced underwater by Roy Gramheart, the 23rd President of the Republic of Calvard. Aiming for the uncharted territory of “beyond the atmosphere,” the project will launch communication satellites via Orbal rockets, with the objective to eventually send humans into space. The significance of the project is said to be in finding answers to environmental problems through surface surveillance from extremely high altitudes, as well as the creation of a new Orbal communication network via satellites.

Zech One Space Military Base

Southeast of the Republic, in the backlands of the Ishgal mountain range lies a large-scale facility built in a massive basin for the execution of Operation Startaker. Up until it was announced, the existence of this base was kept top secret, thought of as the nation’s most sensitive information.

Ored

Set in Northern Zemuria, Ored is an independent state that borders Remiferia to the west and Calvard to the south. Despite being located even further north than the northern Calvard city of Messeldam, the climate is warm, allowing the state to develop agriculture independently from a long time ago. It is known for its idyllic farmland that covers most of the state, but in recent years, foreign-affiliated capital has also made strong strides, such as how the Marduk Company’s headquarters were placed there.

The Marduk Company

A private military company (PMC) that has developed rapidly in recent years. It possesses and utilizes military gear and Orbal equipment with highly advanced technologies. Where most of these assets come from, however, is a mystery.

■ Battle System Introduction

The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki bases its battle system off that used by the its predecessor, The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, which enables seamless switching between field and command-based battles. In The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki, new “Awakening” and “B.L.T.Z. (Blitz) System” elements have been added to the battle system.

New Field Battle Element: “Awakening”

Some characters such as Van, who has the ability to change into Grendel form, and Stigma-possessing Dominions, are able to enter an “Awakened” state by using their boost gauge during field battles, allowing them to temporarily increase their fighting abilities by a considerable amount. While in this “Awakened” state, it is not just the character’s physical appearance that changes. Attack power and speed also increase, allowing you to inflict consecutive attacks to gain the upper hand over your enemies.

—Eliminate enemies swiftly with “Awakened” attack power!

New Command Battle Element: “B.L.T.Z. (Blitz) System”

During command battles, when you execute normal attacks, Crafts (moves), or Arts (magic) after obtaining the Blitz Bonus, the “B.L.T.Z. Chain / B.L.T.Z. Support” will immediately be triggered. A follow-up attack from your partner, followed by another attack from the “B.L.T.Z. Chain” effect, or an increased effectiveness of Crafts or Arts from the “B.L.T.Z. Support.” There are many ways that it can change the course of battle.

Another prequel to the Dysonia AU.

“Clones…? Count me out of it,” scoffs Rin.

Luka looks at her sister in surprise.

“I thought you, out of everyone else, would have been most excited about this proposal,” she remarks.

Rin puts her hands on her hips.

“On the contrary, if you actually thought about it,” she mutters.

She gives Luka a sharp glare.

“Human cloning is one of the things I would never support as a geneticist.”

“Why?” asks Miku, popping up from their sofa. “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a way to remember someone like that?”

Rin purses her lips and shakes her head.

“There’s too many environmental factors to ensure a perfect clone. Plus, they won’t even have the original’s memories, so there’s no point,” she adds.

“What if that was the only way for you to see them again?” ventures Luka.

Her younger sister stares at the floor while Miku makes a humming sound. Rin’s eyebrows slowly furrow, a frown appearing on her lips.

“Don’t tell me you’re seriously considering that man’s proposal,” begins Rin.

A long silence fills the room. Luka feels Miku’s judgemental gaze on her, hot as coals. Many years ago, Rin had worked under Dr. Realist’s supervision alongside Luka. After a long argument on the ethics of experimenting on extracted human brains, Rin had left the lab in a furious storm. Even now, her name tag continues to stare at her from the breakroom’s fridge.

“It’s impossible!” continues Rin. She takes off her red-rimmed glasses and looks directly at Luka. “They’ll send you off to who-knows-where! Your mind wouldn’t be able to last…!”

“I agree,” adds Miku. “Being in space for that long…It would be far too isolating.”

Luka wets her lips and looks at her sisters. Rin had just returned home from work, evidenced by her irritability. Her lab coat hangs from one arm, the bow on her head crooked. Miku meanwhile, seemed to reflect Rin’s inner worries.

“I…it’s still a few years off,” begins Luka. “That’s why I wanted to ask now, if you were willing to donate some of your DNA samples…”

Making a sound of disgust, Rin turns away from Luka and begins to walk upstairs.

“Count me out of it,” she snarls. “I’ll have nothing to do with that man.”

In the silence that follows, Luka slowly turns to Miku, who holds her with a stony gaze.

“You won’t be able to change her mind, you know,” says Miku.

Luka lets out a sigh and nods.

“I know.”

Turning back to her computer, Miku continues typing up song lyrics. For a moment, Luka listens to the pitter pattering of her sister’s keyboard. Out of all of them, only Miku had pursued the arts. It never ceased to amaze Luka how easily lyrics flowed from Miku’s mind. And her voice…! Bright, warm and sweet, just like an angel’s. Their entire family was all good at singing, but Miku had long proven that she was the best.

It seemed like everyone in her family had their own talents and their own destinies. Their oldest sister Meiko was a skilled manager, boosting Miku’s popularity to the top. Their older brother Kaito was a savvy businessman. Rin was one of the best geneticists in the city. Her twin, Len, was a renowned journalist. And Luka…her destiny was to the stars, far far away from everyone she knew and loved.

Why did it have to be her?

“That Dr. Realist…How much do you trust him?” Miku asks suddenly.

Taken aback, Luka runs her eyes across her sister’s screen.

I gaze up at the stars in the transparent sky

I'm unable to fly, all I can do is cry

I've been wounded up alone, and whenever I feel lonely

"You came here to help me..."

The lyrics are oddly chilling, causing Luka to take a step back.

Dr. Realist…She had been with him from the very beginning. They had their disagreements, but where it truly mattered, they were in lockstep. His dream was also her dream. In spite of his mercurial nature and carelessly dispensed insults about the human race, they shared a deep desire to save mankind.

“I trust him with my entire being,” says Luka. “I know he doesn’t seem so, but he’s a true genius. He’ll be the one to save us all.”

Miku makes another humming sound. A pang twists Luka’s heart. On the distant STELLA colony, would there be anyone who would hum the same way Miku did? Surrounded by nothing but stars and the blackness of space, would there be anything remotely familiar?

“I’m willing to give you the needed samples, but you must promise me something,” proposes Miku.

“Yes?”

Miku turns back, green eyes sparkling with amusement.

“My clones are only allowed off of earth, alright? I don’t want to have to deal with an imposter!” she teases.

Luka gives her sister an easy grin.

“Of course. I’ll keep all your samples close to me at all times.”

Miku beams.

“Good! Gumi’s songs about running into her clones always made me uneasy…”

Luka laughs at the mention of their neighbor.

“I’ll be sure to ask her if she wants to donate,” she says.

“You probably won’t have to ask…she’d volunteer!”

The sisters share an easy laugh. Their neighbor was always trying new things, it seemed. One time it was skydiving. Next, it was starting a podcast on kappa hunting. Yes, Luka definitely had to ask if Gumi wanted her clones on STELLA. She would add much-needed joy to the loneliness of space.

Miku leans her head on the back of the sofa and looks back at Luka. A hint of sadness fills her expression.

“In all seriousness…please treat my clones well…As you’ve done for me, I want you to watch over them and prevent them from falling into despair. Easy enough, right? ”

A nervous laugh crawls up Luka’s throat. She holds Miku’s gaze.

“That was a given,” says Luka.

Happiness was so difficult to maintain and keep.

Miku grins.

“Does Gackpo know?”

Luka pauses. Her stomach does a small flip upon thinking about her fiancé. She looks down at her garnet ring. He had been so patient, waiting all of those years for her. Would he be able to bear the news that they would never marry, her body shipped off into the depths of space for eternity?

“...Not yet,” admits Luka.

Miku quirks an eyebrow.

“You don’t want a clone of him on your colony?”

Luka looks out the window. A light drizzle has begun, dotting the window with small teardrops.

“I don’t think so,” says Luka after a few moments.

“Oh?”

She thinks of Gackpo’s deep blue eyes and gentle smile. She thinks of running her hands down his chiseled jaw. His soft, purple hair and supple skin. His soothing, deep voice. Her lips tremble. She would have to leave him behind, along with all of her wishes and dreams on earth.

A happy marriage. A normal family. A normal life.

Having a clone of him would be a constant reminder of all she had lost.

“He wouldn’t like the idea,” Luka replies quietly.

“I see…”

To have a Gackpo that didn’t remember her, who couldn’t touch her, who couldn’t love her, would be merely a cheap copy.

“What about your coworkers? Like that Christopher?” asks Miku.

The thought of her coworker makes Luka pause. Whenever she looked at him, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pity. He always seemed so sad, his bangs framing his long face with its sunken eyes. Would giving his clone another life on her colony result in a happier Christopher? She doesn’t know what to think of the idea. What would he be if he hadn’t been a scientist? On the colony, would he gaze out at the stars, searching for the dilapidated earth? Would he sing beneath the stars, glad to be rid of the bright moon?

A small smile fills Luka’s lips when she thinks of Christopher singing.

“I’ll think about it,” she replies.

Miku types up a few more lyrics, humming beneath her breath. Luka watches as she writes, the melody filling her with sadness.

The wish constituting such a desire

was absorbed into the deep, deep, darkness

The words I muttered helplessly

resound aimlessly in this room

It seems like the only one left behind in this world is me

“What’s this song about?” asks Luka.

Miku doesn’t turn back to look at her, intensely gazing at her screen.

“The loneliness of a wish granter,” she replies.

“Interesting…”

“Actually, I think you’d be perfect for the song,” she adds.

“Me?!”

“Mmhm!”

Miku turns back, beaming.

“I’m thinking of naming it The Lone Cell of the Stella Theatre,” she declares.

“Well…!”

“Being surrounded by clones of all your loved ones…won’t you be sad that they won’t remember you?” asks Miku.

The faces of Luka’s siblings fill her mind. The countless memories they made of singing and laughing together would have to be enough to carry her into eternity. The things their clones would do without her would be a gentle reminder of those moments. As the STELLA colony’s mind, she would know them, yet they would only see her as a distant god.

Luka’s throat is dry. As STELLA, she would become an onlooker, forever shut out of the human world. She needed something to remind her that she was once human.

Luka forces a smile and tilts her head.

“Only a little bit. It’s enough for me to see all of you smiling,” she replies.

“You’ll be a benevolent ruler then,” says Miku with a small smile. “How many times do you think you’ll clone me?”

Luka gives a small shrug.

“Every hundred to two hundred years or so…just enough so that the people there won’t notice I’m cloning my lovely little sister.”

Miku giggles.

“Maybe in one of my clones’ lives, they’ll be an idol-nun,” she jokes.

“An idol-nun?!” echoes Luka incredulously.

Her sister shrugs, rolling her shoulders and then humming.

“That was the first thing that came to mind. She could be a nun by day, idol by night.”

“Life on the colonies isn’t going to be like a manga!” protests Luka.

“Are you sure? It sounds a lot like one from all you’ve told me,” says Miku, unwrapping a candy bar.

She breaks it in half and offers it to Luka. Taking the candy, Luka takes a nibble and sighs. To many, Dr. Realist’s proposal sounded like a sci-fi novel or a pipe dream. Only a few were truly willing to believe him. The idea of sending a lone human to control and become a space colony seemed absurd, after all.

“Laugh at me all you like, but it’ll come true someday,” says Luka resolutely.

A hint of melancholy fills Miku’s face. She contemplates her candy bar and then bites into it. She chews methodically, with Luka silently counting how many times her sister chews before swallowing. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Swallow.

Miku looks out the window, where the rain continues to fall. Meiko’s geraniums were starting to bend beneath the intensifying rain. Luka makes a mental note to heat up her sister’s favorite sake before she comes home. Miku was probably thinking the same thing.

“I know,” sighs Miku after a moment of pondering the rain. “I’ll miss you when you’re gone.”

Placing a hand on Miku’s shoulder, Luka offers her sister a small smile.

“We still have a few years left. Let’s enjoy them while we can.”
