Divine Nugget Au

(Rant as to why I chose the White-throated Needletail as Blurr's bird and some minor AU lore under the cut)

I spent a whole fucking week on this

I haven't done a comic in 4 years now, I can't believe this is my come-back XD. Though, on that note, know that I probably won't be pumping out any more comics - not any time soon, at least. But I do got more stuff planned for this au! If you ask about it, I'll 100% rant about it LOL

Okay

So when you look up what the fastest bird in the world is, Google with show the Peregrin Falcom

But there's a catch

The Peregrine is only fast when diving

When it dives to catch its prey, it can go up to 389km/h

Which yeah, pretty fast

But when casually flying, it only goes up to 120 iirc

The Needle Tail?

It can go up to 170km/h

Some have even recorded going over 300! (Close to the Falcon's dive, I believe)

Additionally, these birds only fly. Their habitat is literally listed as "the air," and some even believe they sleep while flying! They only ever land to brood and mate, and then they're off again. Their legs are so short that, if they ground, they can't fly again because it doesn't give enough room to flap their wings.

It fits Blurr perfectly!

It also has a blue-ish colour pattern I can work with lol (it's green, but it looks blue, lol)

Though, also, he isn't 100% like the Needle Tail, just based off of it. I still want avians to be sorta their own species and doesn't have to be exactly like their bird counterparts cuz they aren't them, they're their own thing.

That said, Blurr is one of the shortest from Avians population, still.

They're pretty big.

Another trivial detail of the design!

I was stuck between having his arms be his wings or have them be separate

Until I saw a drawing where they had both, and I realised, "Wait, why isn't that done more often! That's so cool!"

So that's sorta what I did

It's mainly to catch small prey when grounded and to stay better perched up on trees since they're much bigger and having extra fingers helps a lot. Or when they're climbing against a tree to pick up fruits, it gives them an extra boost and can better hang from it

But they're pretty much useless besides that lol

Other lore stuff. The time in which the au takes place is vaguely modern? But with fantasy aspects? I still haven't decided lol

Technology exists, but not in the way we have it sort of deal, idk, this au is pretty bare bones right now, so go wild with it XD I don't mind it, I love brainstorming it with people. I know this au isn't as big or complex as some others out there, but it's fun, and I hope yall like it too fjsjajaj

Working On the Villains for the Musician AU!

I've been coming up with some ideas for how the League (and other villains, but this post is just about the League) would fit into the Musician AU, and there's one idea that I've sort of settled on, being that the League of Villains is a Metal Band. I knew I wanted to keep their little group together, so making them a band was a no-brainer, but picking a genre was a little tough. I decided on Metal because it's often seen/depicted as a counter-culture genre (I've even heard it described as the "bastard son" of music), and I think it relates to the League and the things they stand for in canon. This also lets me turn their canon Villain outfits into their "stage costumes," or at least only make relatively minor changes to their designs (except for Spinner. No quirks means I gotta humanize that guy), and lets me turn their Villain names into Stage Names.

Initially, I wanted to give Shigaraki the Cello, mostly because I think it's such a gorgeous and haunting instrument and I felt like the atmosphere the cello can create really matched Shigaraki; however, I have since come to realize that the cello would be more fitting for AFO, which lets me stick Shigaraki in with the band.

I have to rework a few of the guys' backstories and figure out who gets what instrument, but I think the Metal Band is the way to go.

Ngl atla AUs are so funny in the sense that white people don't really exist in the original avatar universe.

I think these concepts of putting your favorite characters into such a rich and interesting world and the allure of making them benders is fun and I enjoy it myself from time to time but. There is Something be said about inserting white characters into an inherently poc centered story and world that draws inspiration from those cultures, so it falls kinda flat. (And could even come across as tasteless since the story is again inherently a poc one and has such political? I guess. Themes as like the main conflict ignoring it kinda takes away from half the worldbulding or whatever. Whaaateeeverr idk)

Again this isn't like hate to people with atla AUs I enjoy them but idk food for thought.

thinking about parkarthur. thinking about "you look like you've hit bedrock, friend" and how arthur was falling apart but he let parker in, because he was nosy and he was the physical intimidation between the two of them and he liked blood and sands and he was a private investigator and he didn't deserve to die. thinking about arthur who was nothing more than his mistakes getting a second chance and taking it and learning to love the piano again.

and they're both so fucking broken even if they never really say it and sometimes it's better not to look things in the eyes so they dance and they drink and call each other nicknames so often that hearing their real names is strange and they're all the other has and maybe even partners in ever sense of the word and parker is bleeding out on the floor of their office and arthur killed the only person left that still mattered to him.

Ramblings abt how Solanges moral OCD basically makes her miserable almost 24/7

- Rarely does sermons bc she always ends up feeling guilty afterwards. She had to do it more during vesselhood for power but she hated every second of it and sometimes would literally break down in tears after everyone left the temple

- Tried her best to keep kids out of the cult but ultimately failed as some followers she bought in had kids along with bringing in orphaned teen followers ( 15-17 range ) bc she’d feel even shittier leaving them behind ( Mayberry was like the first young kid she bought in ). The mating tent was implemented as more of an intimacy/sex tent as I headcanon it as soundproof so its the ideal place for followers to get intimate w/o having others overhear. However postgame Solange begrudgingly allows to her followers to have kids and start families but she doesn’t rlly have any active role in raising them outside of basic egg care.

- has a sorta weird relationship with her followers at large. Solange is very friendly and caring towards them but keeps her distance from most of them ( with exceptions like Ellena and Mayberry ) bc she knows if she becomes too close with them the guilt would get unbearable.

- ends up letting dissenters go rather than trying to reeducate or kill/sacrifice them. If a follower is bought in dissenting Solange does try to help them adjust but if it doesn’t work she just lets them go. Spies are a whole different thing as she holds more bitterness and disdain for them ( hence the giving them to Midas thing )

- still grapples with the guilt postgame as she tries to move away from the cultish practices and tactics ( ie when she got the tailor she let her followers choose their clothes since beforehand she only had the cult robes Narinder supplied her with ). Solange knows deep down her flock will always have those cult roots and she hates that fact

- horrible self esteem/self worth. Thinks of herself as a horrible person for most of the things she’s done ( this sorta excludes her initial treatment of Narinder since Solange felt justified in doing so as he wronged her first. Granted there are times where Solange stops to think about if she’s going to far )

- her first few crusades were rough and she dreaded going on them bc she always felt digusting afterwards.

- wants to eventually pass down her crown but also feels some guilt regarding that bc she would essentially move the burden onto someone else.
