As someone new to this side of tumblr, what does koc mean and why is it bad? Is it the same as kpop oc?

sorry for not replying sooner gjsjkd i just couldn't be bothered logging on tumblr for the past 3-4 days-

okay so basically, up until a couple of years ago, we used to go by k*c (i think a longer name for that was 'korean oc'???) on tumblr, and back then ig you could say we were not as "mainstream" as we are now (ppl knew about us, but not as much as right now?? (some ppl on twt had a one-sided beef with some creators from here, but i mean- twt people have beef with every community, so what's new?)). now, the main reason we don't go by that name anymore is because many people seemed to associate us with krp / rph communities, and if you looked at them and us, we were a lot different.

not to mention one dumbass who used to make ocs years ago got an incredible idea to basically attack / harass a gif maker blog- i can't remember quite well, but i think they basically demanded the person make gif icons for minors that they were using for their oc groups (again, a real dumbass). and that's when we kinda got put on the map, if you could even call it that.

even though that creator left the community almost immediately after that, the damage was already done, and we were branded as weirdos somehow. that's when another creator decided to change the name from k*c to fic community (and tbh, the word k o c sounds similar to a male's genitalia, which is another reason why we wanted a different name lmao) to kinda start from scratch and also to avoid any association with that name

also- many people back then used asians and asians only as their face claims, which is very similar to what krp is doing, and that's why a lot of people seemed to think we were the same thing.

i'm sure i forgot how some things went, but this is the main reason we don't go by that name anymore and use the name fic community!
