Can we talk more about the transitional phase between normie and alternative? Because we all did some corny shiz back then. Very poser behavior. And I think we all need to talk about it. Cleanse our souls.

I feel like the "I call myself emo but I don't even understand what that means" starter pack is a tattoo choker, a pair of black plain cross earrings and a band tee for a wildly popular rock band that isn't even really emo like AC/DC or Misfits or something. Or that Nirvana t-shirt, you know the one I'm talking about. If I see that shirt one more time, I'm gonna puke.

It's like you looked around Walmart for anything at all black so you could fit in with the edgy kids at school. It's like those "emo transformation" TikToks but... but this isn't a game to you, this is normal Tuesday behavior. Who is three or four years deep into alt culture and still wearing this outfit? Cuz I wore this outfit when I was probably thirteen... for about a year... never again. Also had a leather jacket that you could not peel off my body. I ran that thing into the ground.

Don't even get me started on how we all labeled everything "emo" that clearly was not- especially music. Who was gonna tell us emo was not a synonym for edgy and sad?

Anyways, I ended up donating those cross earrings to a nearby blossoming baby bat and burned the tattoo chokers a LOOONG time ago. They no longer have power over me. I'm a free woman.

Cross should have like, middle school angsty music taste, I feel like in his Au he would've been pretty restricted in all areas of life and so he probably wasn't even aware some kinds of music existed

Once he joins Nm's gang, Killer would show him classics and try to build up his non existent music tastes (read indocrinate him into liking his own music tastes) but on his own cross would find stuff like Set it off and absolutely love it, I'm talking blasting monster by Skillet at 3 am (he's embarrassed when he learns how thin the walls between his and dust's room are)

Why the hell do people put Twenty One Pilots (an alternative pop/hip hop group that only occasionally has rock elements) in the “emo quad” or “emo trinity” or any of those things?

1. They aren’t remotely “emo” or pop punk. Yes they have influence from MCR and lyrical elements common to emo music, but it’s still such a huge stretch. I get that Fall Out Boy and Panic! at The Disco strayed away from the pop punk, emo, and theatrical rock sounds, but they at least had a few albums that are part of that or adjacent to it.

2. PARAMORE IS RIGHT THERE, BRUH.

I like TØP, but come on, stop acting like they’re in the same ballpark as MCR or old FOB. It’s a completely different sound and aesthetic. The only reason they’re lumped into it is because of fanbase overlap.

I never post non-fandom related ocs on here but with everything happening in the us at the moment i figured I’d release kitani to give a little bit of his energy to those who need it. the most important part of being an activist is taking care of yourself enough to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. ya can’t fight for a future ya have no hope for.

Alright so I was in middle school in 2016/2017, which is around the time I remember twenty øne piløts blowing up (specifically, thats when Stressed Out fucking exploded), and twenty øne piløts sorta shaped quite a few aspects of rebellion culture at the time from what I remember. In addition to this, my girlfriend at the time indulged in traditional aspects of emo culture (listened to a lot of alt rock, huge fan of My Chemical Romance, dyed the shaved side of her hair quite a bit, etc).

This leads me to a question. Klavier would've been in high school in 2017. Did he indulge in that specific cultural phenomenon? Does he enjoy bands from the 2000s like MCR and Linkin Park? If he does, what's his favorite, and what's his favorite song from his favorite band? Has he ever dyed his hair? How rebellious was he as a teenager and did he ever get into legal trouble? I want to know what Klavier was like as a teenager SO BAD.
