One last batch of questions if you're up to it cause I adore how you describe everyone <3 looking at the roster I think the last guys left are Barbie and ammo? (the funniest nicknames 😂) and guys like Dorofeyev, brisson, and jiri patera but I think they might fall under the Henderson duckling group?

also if you don't mind, I keep seeing patches and Reilly smith pop up when I scroll thru himbeaux's blog. I've heard a lot about marc andre fleury before but I didn't realize how many other ex-players were also so beloved! I'd love to hear about any of them if you have the time

There are actually a couple I haven't talked about in depth, but Hertl & Hanifin have only been on the team since the trade deadline. I don't know probably more about them than you do.

So, here's the list of current roster guys I'm gonna touch on: Ivan Barbashev, Michael Amadio, Pavel Dorofeyev, Brendan Brisson, Brett Howden, and Jonas Rondbjerg

and the traded guys I'm gonna talk about: Marc-Andre Fleury, Reilly Smith, Max Pacioretty, Robin Lehner, Ryan Reaves, Erik Haula, and Dylan Coghlan.

Now you see why I was like "I don't know if I can do it all in one ask" - because not only is team chemistry defined by who's there currently it is SO informed by who's been there.

These blurbs are probably gonna be shorter, because there's (counts) 14 of them.

That's many. And there are some that I don't know a whole bunch about. That's truer for some than others.

Ivan Barbashev Traded to VGK at the trade deadline in 2023. Learned about the trade at the same time as his wife (she screamed in the other room). was very excited to play with petro again, since they're good friends. got headbutted by LT and was very cute about it. his little face when jack yells He's actually just. giggly in general. he was part of the 12 Knights of Giving and was VERY VERY cute about giving ppl their groceries for free. his face on this save is REALLY CUTE. He fell off the bus during the STL parade. this supports my theory that he's made of like. variable density. it's impossible to knock him over and yet he is SO fast and agile? it's fucking wild.

2. Michael amadio: UNDERRATED!!!! i love Ammo. based on getty, i think either he and nic roy have very similar schedules or ride in together bc they are almost always in walkin photos together. i'm just now finding this out.

I don't know a lot about him, because he's very quiet, but he's got really nice eyelashes and his face looks very soft. even his beard. even his voice is soft & deep. he seems really nice. just a cool room guy.

3. Pavel Dorofeyev: Dorothea!!!. Ok so this is not his actual nickname. I call him this bc when Dave Goucher says his name on the broadcast it sounds like Dorothea. And when Dave had Laryngitis, and he said his full name, it truly sounded like he said "pebble dorothea." this is his name in my head.

Dorothea is SO cute. He looks like a Tall Bitty to me, and i can't get that out of my head.

when Brendan Gallagher busted his teeth in, alec martinez picked them up and carried them to him. Dorothea is one of the HSK guys, who are the closest.

4. Brendan Brisson - son of famous agent Pat Brisson. babysat by Sidney crosby. Umich guy. lots of ppl know more about him than me. always wants to tuck himself into a hug. this is very funny hwen the other guy is shorter than him

lots of people who followed him at umich know more about him than me, i'm sure.

5. Brett Howden: Bread!!! Just a sweet young manitoban guy. Childhood friend of nolan patrick went through Tampa & New York before coming to Vegas. changed his play style to play with Mark. Was part of the 2018 WJC team, but hasn't been implicated in any crimes :(

Grabbed Marchy by the jersey and yelled "we did it we did it" when they won the cup

Jonathan Marchessault followed up with him after and said "oh i had to tell you, when i had my vision of winning the cup, we weren't wearing the white (away) jerseys. we were wearing the gold ones"

indicating that??? Marchy??? has prophetic visions?? and shares them with brett howden???? what the hell is happenign here i love this so much. (seriously this video has SO MUCH. keegan kolesar kissing marchessault on the face SO MUCH. jack and marchy beign sO romantic about Marchy's conn smythe win "I did it for - you did it for me." / "that's the best thing i've ever seen" and all the i love yous. I just. love them)

6. Jonas Rondbjerg - Ronny is just a really sweet, quiet HSK guy! he's not the main roster, so when he gets called up, he hangs with the guys he knows. He was best friends with Jake Leschyshyn before he got traded to the NYR.

Notable Guys who've been traded

Marc- Andre Fleury - found out he got traded on twitter. Known prankster. Everyone loves him, excellent but aging goalie who is going to retire after 24-25. After retirement, he's moving back to Vegas to live during the non-summer months. If he hadn't been a goalie, probably he'd have been captain. I love him so much and he tried to fight jordan binnington while he was on the Wild.

Reilly Smith - OG Golden Misfit, traded to VGK with Jonathan Marchessault. Jonathan Marchessault said of him that he was relieved when they got drafted / traded that wasn't scared to go to a new place bc he would know somebody. And when Smitty joined VGK for their White House Cup Visit, Jonathan said in the interview after "Everywhere he is is home a little bit"

Reilly started the Battle For Vegas, a charity baseball game during the summer, which is a great time which Jack Eichel took over since Smitty got traded. Said "What a time to be alive" with an absolutely blasted voice while on the ice right after they won the cup.

Max Pacioretty - Traded to Vegas after doing frankly a nuclear option with his prior agent (switching to Allan Walsh on draft day) because talks with Montreal had gotten so bad. was SO happy to be in Vegas. When Stone was traded in February, was kind of worried bc they'd been such rivals during their time in MTL & OTT respectively. but they were almost immediately complimentary of each other. They were best friends. Patch says that he knew, almost as soon as Mark came in that he was gonna be the captain. Which is WILD. Bc it had been almost 3 season without them having one. but Mark is their captain. He was right.

Ryan Reaves - is a GREAT room guy, and a WONDERFUL guy off the ice. Loves a prank. ate spicy chocolate. He's done B4V a couple of summers (he did it last year iirc) and it's just. Really sweet. A lot of these guys just. really really bonded for life during that first year, you know? I know that Belly is still friends with a bunch of the OG Misfits, and so is Reavo (he was pumped to play on the wild with flower, for instance). Reavo said that when mark stone fought tomas hertl that "Those hands aren’t made to fight; they’re made to dance. They’re supposed to be soft." basically "I'd rather they let ME do the fighting, their hands are meant for better things" like. ReAVO MY GUY. UGH.

Erik Haula - Another guy who does B4V, got traded to the Canes (who mistreated him) and is now with the Devils (who love him). Is still best friends with Karly.

Dylan Coghlan - came to VGK in the Erik Haula trade from the Canes system. Was VERY VERY good friends with the younger guys, Haguer, Roysie, Whitecloud, Keegan, Howden, etc. Went to a concert with Jack, Haguer, & HOwdy/ Also still does B4V and excels at it. Is a defensemen, but when we didn't have any forwards, filled in. I would know him by his teeth anywhere (very distinctive). adorable.

Joel and Henry and Kathleen as mirrors reflecting each other until the image is distorted. Sam was worth everything. Michael was worth everything. Ellie is worth everything. Everyone is everything to someone and that's a beautiful and terrifying thing. Because everyone is worth your own life, but they're also worth everyone else's life, and when the math's that simple you know that someone has to lose.

the question is posited with a bright smile, half-heartedly teasing — the gleam in michael's eye hinting at some deep-buried desire. the chokehold FEDRA has on this city allows for little information to trickle through, but their efforts have seen some of the cracks widen - enough for whispers, and whispers are enough. the light of the fireflies doesn't shine in kansas city, but he can see it in the distance, the warm glow of a faraway shore, and he's a man lost at sea.

—not entirely an apt metaphor; it isn't waves beneath his feet, not anymore. the ground is pretty solid.

henry's contribution to that is far from inconsiderable.

he's long-since ceased in speaking in hushed tone; in those first days, it was a necessity, in order to gain ground, build a network — now, though, michael's voice rings clear, yet he maintains a gentleness to it as he says, “you're right. there's so much to do, but... i have faith in us.” in you. “and i'm glad you're here... with me.”

michael's always been rock-solid in the dark: reliable, calm, the cycling light of a lighthouse on a rocky shore: a promise of relief. kathleen's childhood night terrors had seemed apocalyptic in their own right — described to him in gasping, halted breaths, details always obscured by the fear heavy in her voice, but he didn't need to understand to comfort. he only needed to nod, take her hand in his, and begin the usual routine: a deep breath, then another, until she was breathing in tandem with him. he'd tell a story, pitiful regurgitations of books in the beginning that gradually morphed into tales of his own creation — some containing creatures, which perhaps was never the best choice in the suffocating dark, but even the things that crept and howled seemed to provide some comfort for his sister.

but comfort for henry is something else. instinct pushes michael closer, breathing against him as they tangle into one another — searching fingers and sighing mouths, michael shaking off the last tendrils of sleep that had still ensnared him in their grip. he's fully attentive now, blinking against blackness, eyes fuzzy as they work to adjust — it's like a thick sheet has been pulled flush against his face, and it's slightly disorienting, but henry is an anchor. michael feels the reciprocated touch and muscles that had tensed in his lower back loosen; as henry speaks — the vibration of his voice humming in the fingers cupping his face — he feels his mouth pull into a half-moon frown, curls brushing against his forehead as michael's head shakes.

“baby...” late-night dryness has crept into his throat; michael's voice is slightly deeper than what's typical, the word low and full in his throat. he attempts to clear it out, then kisses henry's cheek again, chaste but sorrowful. “—no,” he continues, dismissing the apology outright — it's tinged slightly with rage, directed only at FEDRA, and how they steal even sleep from them now, but it's a burning fury regardless: the only kind michael is ever capable of. he feels it in his chest, his fingers, the latter beginning to tremble from it, and he exhales a hard breath through flared nostrils as henry burrows into him — michael comforted by the warmth of his breath against him, but in no way quieted.

“you don't apologize,” he finally says, pressing his mouth into henry's hair. “they're rare now, but— yes. mine are similar. it was always my mother and my sister, punished for my actions.” was. michael assumes henry will note the tense, and clarifies, in a small voice, “—lately, it's been you. dying for me.” the tremor in his hand worsens briefly, fingers tightening to a fist, and it takes a too-long second for michael to ease himself, push back the dream-hazy image threatening to surface. michael squeezes his eyes shut, leans into henry's hand against his back, sighing loudly. “it's just... part of the deal, i guess. i'm sorry.” @doomdays

it isn't the first time that he's woken up from a nightmare in the dead of night,  his neck sweating,  heart racing,  and eyes immediately looking over to where sam sleeps.  he had nightmares when he was little,  as he was adjusting to their new ' home ' in the QZ,  but they eventually faded,  becoming less and less over the years --- until sam was born, and suddenly,  there was so much to lose again.  

it's just the first time he's had someone right next to him when he awakes.

he groans, trying to wake himself up,  but when he feels michael's hand against his cheek,  he leans into it,  feeling his warmth and allowing it to soothe him.  in michael's home, sam sleeps in his own private space on the other side of the wall, and henry has to fight the urge to get out of the comfort of this bed -- of michael -- because his hand on his chin reminds him that he's safe.  it was just a dream.  sam is still safe.  

his hand moves up,  fingers wrapping around his arm as it lightly trails up and down.  he sighs,  his head leaned back on the pillow as he finally opens his eyes, then looks in his direction  (  he can't see him,  but he can feel him,  and that's enough.  )   ❝  always the same one.  you know,  someone's got sam.  used to be just some prick who claimed i couldn't take care of 'em.  had a lot of those when he was first born.  different now, i guess.  ❞   he speaks softly,  his body turning into his as his leg tugs on michael's,  ensuring his whole body be warmed by his lover before he goes on.  ❝  now it's always fedra who's got their fucking hands on him, trying to take 'em away.  ❞  

it's a metaphor, he assumes.  when michael is trying to accomplish with henry and the other supporters by his side is risky.  it can be life or death.  it's haunting him now, knowing that he's risking he and sam's life through all of this.  this is no place for sam to be living, though, and what they're doing matters.  when he buries those feelings during the day, they tend to haunt him at night instead.  

❝  i'm sorry, ❞   he mumbles, because he's awake now, and sam's okay, and it was just a dream.  but he catches himself sometime,  the way his life is so consumed by the love he has for his brother,  he worries it's all other people hear about.   henry leans his head down,  burying it in the crook of michael's neck,  his hand making a fist against his back as he holds him close.  ❝  your bad dreams,  they about this,  too?  ❞   he asks quietly, words muffled against his skin.

The Adelaide Gaol in Adelaide, South Australia. More specifically, its Hanging Tower - one of the two gallows (the other one is located in the New Building and apparently nobody took good enough photos of the very instructional mannequin display there).

The prison was originally built on a pentagonal layout, like a cut-off octagon, which gives me an idea or five about retconning the whole Barghest Moor prison from my Officer 432 stories (not like I don't have to rewrite all of them anyway before posting them on AO3...). Since my original idea was a mash-up of the Zordaya Prison from "Call of Duty", Bodmin Jail and Rakowiecka Prison, I think that swapping Rakowiecka for Adelaide won't be too much of a problem.

However, my grand idea of expanding the series to at least ten stories and trying to publish it as an e-book may be too much.

The images were sent back and forth over iMessage during the long periods of lock down that each city they live in, imposed on their residents, throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic. 365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

December 1st - SHAZAM!

William Joseph ‘Billy’ Batson had been a homeless, 12-year-old orphan who sold newspapers and slept in the various subway stations of Fawcett City.  One evening young Billy was beckoned to a magical subway car that transported him to the ancient throne room of the Rock of Eternity.  There he met the aged wizard known as Shazam.  The wizard stated that he has used the powers of the gods to fight the evil of the Seven Deadly Sins for over 3,000 years; yet has now grown too old to continue and is in need of a successor. The wizard further explains that Billy was chosen because the lad was pure of heart and had managed to persevere despite the all the misfortunes he had endured.  

The wizard’s name is actually an anagram composed of the various mythical figures from which he derives his magical powers.  These beings include  Solomon (who bestow great wisdom and intellect), Hercules (who offers incredible strength and bravery), Atlas (who endows unyielding stamina), Zeus (who offers the power of lightning), Achilles (who provides invulnerability and valor), and Mercury (who offers incredible speed and the ability to fly).  

Ordered by the wizard to speak this name, Billy exclaimed ‘Shazam’ and was struck by a sudden bolt of lightning transforming him into a super-powered adult in a colorful costume.  The wizard declares the new hero ‘Captain Marvel’ and charges him with continuing on the battle against evil.  

Billy discovered that saying the name once more transformed him back into his original, youthful self.  Captain Marvel's first battle was with the mad scientist known as Doctor Sivana, who would become the hero’s arch-enemy.  Billy Batson would go on to take a job as a reporter and host for WHIZ Radio, a position that allowed him to travel and investigate criminal activity (which he then dealt with in the form of Captain Marvel).  

It was later revealed that Billy’s parents had been archeologists who were killed when the ancient Egyptian tomb they were excavating collapsed.  Billy’s dastardly uncle was supposed to take care of the lad, but he stole the child’s inheritance, resulting in Billy’s becoming homeless.  Furthermore, Billy had a younger sister who ended up adopted by a kindly family.  

Billy used his powers to rescue young Freddie Freeman.  The only way to save Freddie’s life was for Billy to share his magical powers with him, thus resulting in Freddy becoming ‘Captain Marvel Junior.’  Billy also shared these powers with his sister, enabling her to become the heroic ‘MaryMarvel.’

Captain Marvel and his Marvel Family would have countless adventures together.  Along with subsequent confrontations with Dr. Sivana, the hero faced off with a bevy of strange and powerful threats, including Black Adam, Mr. Mind, Ibac, Captain nazi and Herkimer The Crocodile Man.  

Much of The Marvel Family’s adventures took place on Earth S.  Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, however, Earth S was erased and Captain Marvel was retconned into the prime DC Universe (although it has since been revealed that Billy’s early exploits are still in continuity as part of Earth 5’s history).  

Captain Marvel was recruited by Maxwell Lord to become a member of The Justice League.  Both Batman and Superman had reservations about the hero serving on the team when each discovered Billy’s actual age, yet his competence in action persuaded them and Captain Marvel has served on multiple iterations of The League.  He additionally acted as a member of the Justice Society for a time.  

Actors Tom Tyler and Frank Coghlan Jr. portrayed Captain marvel and Billy Batson respectively in the 1941 movie serial, The Adventures of Captain Marvel.  Actors Jackson Bostwick and John Davey each portrayed Captain Marvel in the 1974 Shazam television series, with Michael Gray as Billy Batson. While Zachary Levi and Asher Ange portrayed Captain Marvel and Billy Batson in the 2019 movie, Shazam!  

The hero first appeared int he pages of Whiz Comics #2 (1939).
