Ichgio literally says girls give me your powers,the wings was a combination of their powers, the berry rod is just there for symbolism since its an item created from their bonding.

Still with mew berry rod or not, I think this scene makes sense, they've merged their powers creating a new one

would love if this got explored. And its a magical girl show, sooner or later a random upgrade would happen

Season 2 is less than 24 hours away!

Before the premiere, I wanted to quickly jot down (in no particular order) some things I hope to see in this new season.

1: Parents. The whole time rewatching season 1, I kept thinking, “where are these kids’ parents?” 😆 Even when Ichigo is taken to Aoyama’s house as a cat, his parents are no where to be found. Mint and Ichigo at least mention their parents, but we never see them. Now, we do have confirmation that Ichigo’s parents will make an appearance in the first episode (about time!), but I really want them to explore the other girls’ parent situations.

2: More backstory for the other girls. We’ve gotten some for Mint already (but I won’t say no to more), and Pudding has at least had her siblings introduced early on, but we have virtually nothing for Lettuce and Zakuro. Those two were snubbed in the manga and OG anime too, so I really hope they don’t get the shorter end of the stick yet again. Give us Lettuce’s brother! Seiji got to be a prominent side character, why can’t Uri?

3: I want the follow up to the IchiRyou scene in episode 2!

Ryou has to walk her home (for whatever reason, it doesn’t really matter why), and he has to apologize, it was such a huge moment for his character development in the manga, and if they throw it out, I’m going to riot (ok , maybe not riot, but I will be very upset, and this version will lose points for me)!

4: I want a birthday episode. I know that’s really random, but I just want it 😆 Since this seems to start at the beginning of the school year (so like mid April in Japan), Ichigo’s birthday is out, and probably Lettuce too. The next birthday would be Ryou in June, which I think would be hilarious, because he totally seems like the kind of person that would like to ignore his birthday, and it would be funny to see the girls (and Keiichiro) make him celebrate it! 😆

That’s assuming we didn’t pass his birthday (because season 1 does seem to end around June, given the rain, and the fact the Mint only has a couple days to decide if she’s going to an American school), in which case, the next birthday would be Pudding. That could be a lot of fun!

5: More original episodes that help expand the story and develop all the characters better. In other words, I don’t them to try to finish off the series in this season, I want them to take their time, then they can wrap things up in a third season. There was so much build up to Mint using the Mew Aqua rod, that I feel it would be too fast paced if the other three all used the rod in the same season. The mid season climax can be Lettuce using the Mew Aqua rod, and then the season finale can be Pudding using it; season 3’s mid season climax can be Zakuro using the rod, and the finale would obviously be the fight with Deep Blue. Then we can have a season 4, where Berry actually gets introduced properly, and the story isn’t a rushed mess 😅 Maybe we can get a movie adaptation of the PS game and see Ringo animated. And then we can end the series with an expanded ReTurn; and since we start the series with them all (except Pudding) in high school, we can end the series with them graduating, and Ichigo and Aoyama actually getting married. In fact, I hope they don’t end the first series with the mock wedding, because I feel like an actual wedding would be a much better pay off (as much as it will hurt Ryou’s little heart 😭)

I’ve wanted the Tokyo Mew Mew Strawbell Bell (or Strawberry Bell) since I was about 7 and today I finally got it!! I’m lucky I got one in working condition that came in it’s original box with everything (except the instructions)

Also it’s on my wrist in the photo but the bracelet barely fits me and comes off very easily since it’s intended for kids and I don’t have very small wrists lol

Now I really wanna get the mew berry Rod and maybe all of the other toys lol

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?

1.YES kish/ichigo! the thing is. I GET it, and I don't really care if other people ship it obv (esp since ppl are adults these days in the fandom at large and shipped it as kids, I get that its a nostalgia thing for a lot of ppl, or has an interesting post-canon dynamic?)

what I do hate is that kishigo shippers tend to throw my fav best boy masaya under the bus, or make him wildly ooc, or just generally hate on him. :( thankfully I see that a lot less these days as again a lot of ppl are adults and more mature abt it (and I am generous with the block button for ppl who arent, lmao) but back in the day it was painful and everywhere. like, even if im a masago fan, I LIKE kisshu as a character and find him interesting, and even if I DIDNT u wouldnt see me putting chara hate for him in the main tag! thats tacky! some ppl need to learn character analysis fr because how are they looking at the same characters I am!!!

kishigo just isnt For Me, its a lil icky even putting all of that aside but the way the fans of it acted years ago made it my association with the ship even worse. I dont think ill ever be able to look at it w/out cringing bc of that lol 🤷‍♂️

2....its not exactly a NoTP, but I dont really care for any pai ships I've seen either, but thats just bc I dont super love him as a character (I am so sorry to my sister if she ever sees this, he is her fav tmm boy x_x)

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

OHHH this is a hard one. the question specifies 'show' but I'm gonna actually answer for the series as a whole (manga, old show, new show)

I'd probably change the new series to keep the old series' lore about the mew aqua rod being an ancient alien artifact instead of being a masha form (...because this lines up with my fanfiction, no other reason, actually, lol)

2. For the old series, no panty/bust shots. those are awkward and bad, and the new show did better w that, at least imo.

3. make the new show longer. we know its at least getting a season 2, but cmon. give me like 7 seasons. stretch it out, add brand new filler eps with focus on each chara, no need to rush, give us lots of new mew content, don't be shy about merch, either... 👀 and add berry and ringo, too... (in a perfect world, season 3 will be made and feature berry, and ringo would get an OVA or movie situation.)

4. more alien lore!!!! anything. give us crumbs we deserve them (I also really wanted alien redesigns like the girls got tbh! even if I kinda like the old mew designs better, I still wouldve liked to see smth new for the aliens anyway)

5. MORE OUTFITS. always want more Fashione for the gals

Given the circumstances regarding Mint still being at home, I don't think we'll be seeing the Mew Berry Rod or Ribbon Strawberry Surprise for the time being in New.

I've been thinking about what it I somehow got ahold of the following:

A weed grinder that's shaped like the LettuceTanets

A ashtray shaped like the StrawberBell

A lighter shaped like the Zacross Whip

Storage jars shaped like the Pudding Rings

A dab nectar collector and cover that's shaped like the Minton Arrow (the nectar collector is the arrow, the dab tool/nectar collector cover is the bow)

And bongs shaped like the Loveberry Rod, the Mew Aqua Rod, and the Mew Berry Rod

Did the Mew Berry Rod ever appear in the manga? I'm working on a MMP crossover fanfic and I need to know if I have to give Ichigo a "Rose Bell" or if I can use it to help differentiate her and Zoey

In the OG manga series, Ichigo only uses the Mew Berry Rod once. It happens during Chapter 23, in volume 6, as a result of all of the Mew Mews combining their powers.

had a wierd midnight realisation that in tokyo mew mew 3/5 of a team have a weapon thats also an instrument( bell, castanets, tambourine)??? except mint and zakuro who have a bow and a whip respectively.... imo changing mints bow to a handheld harp is enlightened bc thanks to fantasy setting should could still shoot arrow outta it but idk what zakuro could have.... intuition says flute but a violin could be cool also???

Then there’s also Berry who has a rod, and Ringo who has maracas so that’s one additional weapon for both categories. Now that you think about it, maybe it would have been better if everyone had a musical instrument when it’s such a common theme already? Though it doesn’t have anything to do with the theme of the story and it already has animals and food.

Mew Berry Rod Origins + Analysis

Anime

The Mew Berry Rod is the name of the second weapon given to Ichigo Momomiya, the leader of the Mew Mews, by Ryou Shirogane.

 The weapon is stronger than the other weapon Ichigo uses, the StrawBell Bell,

The Mew Berry Rod appears when all the mews combine their powers forming a new weapon

Just like we see in the remake

Analysis / Theory Ok MR Shirogane....you got some explanations to do......... If you’ve developed the weapon in the original, why does it while charging,,,it uses the other mews powers?? We can see the girls colors in the light strings
