i saw this reposted on pinterest last night and no joke have been thinking abt it non-stop since. i think jackie was going to be hurt as long as the person shauna was having sex with wasn't her. she doesn't frame it that way in her mind but their codependency becomes sexual in an inherent way because they literally cannot do anything without the other. shauna tries to break away from this by having sex with jeff but it doesn’t work — because even this rebellion is at its core about jackie. she has sex with jeff to gain some agency, to tell herself jackie doesn't control her life, but she does. and this isn't jackie's fault — jackie controls shauna through shauna's own obsession with and dependency on her. in the end, shauna didn’t have sex without jackie — she was thinking about her the whole time.

listening to this RWRB video essay podcast and this:
"And once they dance, this is the happiest that we see Alex in the entire movie. And I would say his smile here is the biggest, broadest smile we see from any character in the whole movie. Because, I would say this is where Alex is getting exactly what he wanted all along, which is for Henry to let him inside."

i see so many people be like "hmmm is rhaenyra actually fit to rule? because if she were, she would have done this and this and that"
... were any of the men in hotd/got fit to rule, though? was viserys fit to rule? was robert baratheon? the king named rhaenyra his heir. that's all there is. that's a monarchy! she shouldn't have to be fit to rule or do anything else really. rhaenyra having to prove herself fit to rule when not a single man has ever had to do that, her being held to highest standards just to have the same thing they did is sexism plain and simple.
if rhaenyra was exactly the same person but had been born a man, nothing (s)he ever did would be an obstacle to her (his?) claim of the iron throne. and when a modern audience doesn't see that and wants her to prove herself worthy when no man has ever needed to do that, there's no excuse anymore. the world she lives in may be way more sexist than ours, but the audience watching the show is living in the 21st century. and if a woman is expected to do more than a man just because she is a woman, that's misogyny! hope that helps!

I will not stop talking about the brilliant of hand acting as metaphor for sex to show audiences about what’s happening between alex and henry without actually showing the parts because well this wasn't porn so they have to be super creative about it lmao hence the so deliberate way they shoot the hand doing step by step....stuff that would occur during sex.
1. We saw Alex's hand slowly caressing Henry's wrist down to his still closed fingers.....(Alex's hand was P symbol okay and ..you know what Henry's hand represents, we can move on from this) ..then ohhh so gently Alex coaxed Henry's "hand" to open up to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Henry relaxed his "hand" as best as he possibly could stretching it widely to accept Alex's intrusion, then when Alex's "fingers" entered the space between his fingers, he was tensed for a moment, like a jolt, before he finally clenched his "fingers" tightly around Alex's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. These are the shot where the full intercourse was happening, fully locked with each other deep to the root. Don't know how many thrust it took but it wasn't long till Henry finally spasm and reached orgasm first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Alex followed soon behind when he finally “released”Henry's hand (this was Alex reaching his orgasm as well, you know release is the keyword here) he wanted to prolong the sensation (the lazy still want to be inside you type even after cum lol) but Henry seemed like he was exhausted already and probably quite over sensitive that’s why Henry’s hand was shown to be quite “weak” while Alex’s hand still dominated him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Alex literally made Henry turned into jelly lol though Alex was hesitant but at the end he eventually had to pull out. Henry chasing the sensation left behind from suddenly feeling empty after feeling so full and trying to adjust back to not having Alex’s “fingers” but feeling totally content and satisfied with himself. It was definitely a good first time sex that both will remember it for long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here concluded the hand holding as sex metaphor. Bye!! 😂 (fingers read as hole also read as cock 🤣)
.
(Also to think that this scene wasn’t filmed on the same day with their full sex scenes made me chuckle because the instruction from Matthew probably like “Hey T&N, can we like shoot the sex scene again but this time…. just with your hands?” 😆)

i’ve seen furiosa three times now, and i keep coming back to the idea of it being a story told as oral history. it’s mythic, it’s legendary, it’s sprawling, and it’s just an absolute joy to watch. it feels like storytelling at its very essence. it’s the kind of story that got told around a camp fire three thousand years ago.
i think you can feel its mythology most in its inaccuracies and missing pieces. we don’t know exactly how dementus and his crew brought down the leader of gas town; we just know that he did it. we don’t know every detail of the 40 days wasteland war; we just know how it ended. it feels like reading from a history book and there’s a footnote at the bottom noting the uncertainty surrounding certain aspects of the story.
furiosa is entirely the vessel through which the story is told. she’s our lens. if she doesn’t know what happened (dementus didn’t drag her into gas town; she doesn’t know what happened exactly) (she was in the citadel watching the 49 day war from a distance; she doesn’t know the details), neither does the audience. she’s set up to be a pretty reliable narrator (and so is the physical narrator, the history man), but she can’t help what she simply doesn’t know.
that’s why i find the ending so interesting, too. the introduction of the idea that maybe the peach tree isn’t true, that stories got passed around saying that furiosa simply shot dementus or tortured him to death in the same tree where he did the same to her mother, is something most *films* don’t do. it’s something that myths do, something that a real breathing person would do if they were verbally telling you the story.
because it’s an oral history!!

something so fucked up about shauna shipman is that she is still so obsessed with jackie taylor that she will recreate that toxic, one-sided jealousy and resentment with her own daughter. our introduction to shauna is a scene of her masturbating in callie's bed while staring at a picture of callie's boyfriend. the immediate parallels are unmistakable, because we also see her teen self fuck jeff later that episode. we both know that it was always more about taking something from jackie than any real love for jeff; now she's lusting after her daughter's underage boyfriend and secretly resenting callie in much the same way she secretly resented jackie and lusted after her boyfriend. she even mistook callie for jackie when she wore the same uniform a few episodes later.
as the first season progressed, we saw a lot of shauna's pretty chilling dislike of her own child. sure, callie's a little shit, but she's also a teen girl with deep-seated mommy issues. shauna is a woman in her 40s acting like the catty mean girl she never had the courage to be in high school. she talks shit about how much she doesn't like callie, she relishes in holding one over on her, she shows off the affair she's having with a hot younger man, she threatens callie's future, she manipulates her, and so on and so forth. she treats callie like she might have treated jackie, if the power dynamic were reversed.
and what's really heartbreaking is that callie, much like jackie, had no idea about this deep-seated jealousy and resentment. neither of them have the callousness nor the mean streak that shauna does. for jackie, shauna always mattered most; and we see how callie blooms under the attention and approval her mother gives her when she helps cover up her crimes in season two.
then shauna had the goat breakdown, and i realized that this is the closest thing to love she can give callie. she can't love her daughter the way she loved wilderness baby, can't open herself up to that kind of pain again. but she also can't help but love her child, so she recreated the only other comparable form of love she'd ever felt: her love for jackie, which is much more complicated and messy and cruel than a mother's love for her child.

Marisol is easily Eddie's Taylor Kelly.
Like Taylor's passion for the truth caused problems for Buck, Marisol's roots in Catholic guilt cause problems for Eddie.
Like Taylor getting rid of Buck's couch because hers is better, Marisol wanted to keep all of her things because they're "clearly better."
Both women kept major secrets from them that were only discovered after they moved in together.
Like Buck stayed at Eddie's house avoiding Taylor, Eddie stayed at the loft avoiding Marisol.
The only difference so far is the fact Eddie decided to hit the brakes, instead of going all in like usual.
If she's his Taylor, what will be her downfall? Taylor's was because she went behind Buck's back to get the Jonah story out. So what will Marisol's end be?
Will she be judgemental and like the actress when she sees Buck and Tommy? Will she guilt trip him into something? Will she overstep with Chris because she thinks she knows better?
I don't know. The similarities are just too prominent to ignore, and I'm going to be thinking about how they'll get rid of her until they actually do.

I can't stop thinking about the fact that, even if they don't physically eat her, jackie taylor is the first person the girls cannibalize.
we see it most intensely and most obviously with shauna, who consumes more and more of jackie's life. before the plane even crashes, shauna takes jeff's virginity, which was supposed to be jackie's. she takes jeff, jackie's boyfriend. after the crash, she takes the team's loyalty; more and more of their teammates start confiding in and working with shauna, ostracizing jackie, until the team firmly chooses shauna over jackie, their captain. shauna goes on to marry jackie's boyfriend and have the suburban little life that jackie was supposed to have. hell, shauna even takes rabbits from jackie—jackie "loved them", but we only see rabbits when it's about shauna. they're symbolic of the wilderness and who shauna has become.
but it's not just shauna. the longer they're in the woods, the more the rest of the girls start taking from jackie, consuming bits and pieces of her identity until there's nothing left.
jackie is the leader. she's the team captain, and her role is to lead and keep her team together. we're explicitly introduced to jackie this way. coach martinez points out how the other players on the team are better than her, but what she has is influence. she's specifically chosen to be the one to lead her teammates through difficulty. and at the party, we see her in action. we see her take a fractured team and put them back together! she fixes them, she leads them, she heals them.
but after the crash, jackie isn't a leader. misty is the one calm under pressure, who gets them through the first few hours. taissa steps forward and pushes the team to move from the crash site, the one with the initiative to go look for help on foot. laura lee is the one brave enough to try and fly the plane. akilah stops them from eating poison. nat hunts for them, provides for them. lottie protects and guides them.
she almost finds a foothold with the seance, almost finds the old part of herself that gives pep talks and lightens the mood with distractions. but van can weave stories by the campfire, and mari can lead late night line dances and make booze.
so what's left for jackie? each of the girls cuts and picks at the facets of leadership until there's nothing left of it for her. until she's a worthless captain to a group of girls who have figured out how to break her up and share her between themselves.

I decided to reread the early YGO manga, and realized that there is a little arc with Tristan/Honda that does not really get adapted into either of the animes unfortunately
Honda is there with Joey in the first chapter, where he bullies Yugi, gets beated up by Ushiou and gets defended by Yugi, but he doesn't appear in the end when Jounouchi goes to become friends with Yugi. In fact, he doesn't appear again for a little while, only in like a page in chapter 2 when Jounouchi is bein pervy. We have a bunch of chapters with Yugi, Anzu and Jounouchi doing stuff but he isn't around.
Then we get to chapter 7, which is the one with Miho, and we see that Yugi straight up doesn't like him a lot; when Joey goes to talk to him with Honda, they are both very unconfortable with this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They aren't friends yet! Yugi is Jou's friend, and Honda is Jou's friend too, but they don't like each other, haven't really talked to each other since the stuff with Ushiou. By the end of the chapter, it highlights that after all the drama with the teacher, they are more friendly:
Tumblr media
And that sticks! The chapter right after this one is about the three of them going somewhere together to buy sneakers. And he starts to always be around, even if it's just in the background of certain scenes with the friend group. He goes to the museum with Yugi, gets to have a more sentimental moment talking about his friendship with Jou in the gang chapters, he even goes to Hirutani's house, even if he doesn't talk a lot there. There's still a lot more focus on Jou and Yugi's friendship, but he's now oficially part of the friend group.
Then we get to Death T, and while he isn't in the begining of the arc, the moment that he aparently "dies" is the one when Yami almost takes over, because of how emotional Yugi gets:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I realized how much Yugi's opinions on him changed, that he went from "oh, I don't like that guy all that much" to this!
I dunno if this is really obvious to everyone already and i'm just kinda slow, and yeah, It isn't exactly the deepest character development in the world, but I think it's neat, and find it a shame that it didn't get carried over to neither adaptation (the DM anime because the didn't adapt this part of the story, and Season 0 because they changed Honda too much to put some of these details in)

I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) back on Monday but I realized this last night and I don't know if it even means anything, but Beetlejuice's flashback with Delores is meant to be a homage to Bava's Black Sunday (1960). Well, Lydia mentioned to Astrid that she went into labor with her during a Bava marathon, during Kill, Baby, Kill (1966). So they both have that Bava connection.
But then I also realized that their shared "strange dream" has the theme music from Carrie (1977) playing and Baby Beetlejuice appeared again, but as a homage to It's Alive (1974). Two other horror films.
I don't know what exactly I'm getting at but maybe someone else will figure it out? That there's maybe more to the fact that they share the love of classic horror films?
I don't know, I just thought it was an interesting connection.

@rwrbmovie & @rwrbsource RWRB Appreciation Month Bingo: Underrated Moment
Something I feel like I don't see people talk about enough is the line that comes with the staircase hug
"I'll break the sound barrier for you."
Truthfully speaking, I think it's my favourite original line in the movie. I melted the first time I heard it.
To start with, this is at the peak of Henry's desperation. They've been outed, they've been separated, Henry hasn't heard from Alex in at least the week, and he doesn't know what's about to happen to himself either. The future, the next step is entirely unknown, and that's terrifying.
Then despite the communication barrier, despite being locked in his palace, despite being a world away, Alex finds him in a call.
The relief in Henry's exhale is so liberating. After days of despair, finally seeing the light. Finally, someone who treats you with care and kindness in a single word. Someone who he can be honest with.
And then there's Alex, who, the second Henry says he's not okay, immediately says he'd fly over the Atlantic Ocean for him without a second of hesitation (Zahra must have been fuming when she heard Alex say that) and be there by tonight. (Flight Time would have been 7 hours minimum)
After Henry's quiet plea to hurry, Alex answers with this line. "I'll break the sound barrier for you."
Firstly, this is a parallel. Henry sang "I wanna make a supersonic man outta you" the night Alex realized he was truly, deeply in love with him, and he pointed to Alex when saying that. Supersonic, means faster than the sound of speed, and breaking the sound barrier occurs when the object exceeds the speed of sound. This is Alex making Henry's wish come true: I'm your supersonic man.
Tumblr media
Secondly, obviously "break the sound barrier" is a figure of speech, the human can only possibly achieve that in free fall, and for aircrafts, there are a lot of risks, but the message here is that Alex is willing to do the damn near impossible for Henry, to comfort him. During those days there are so many people who make decisions for Henry, who ignore his feelings and emotions, who berate him endlessly, who are trying to find the easy way out, but then there's Alex would to do the hardest thing in the world just to give Henry comfort.
If there is any line that captures how protective Alex is for Henry, it's this.

Buddie: "Evan" vs. "Buck" - Parallels of Margaret & T.K. 1.0 vs. Phillip & T.K. 2.0
The video below includes a few examples of Phillip, Eddie and Tactless calling Buck "Evan" and IT'S EASY TO HEAR THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THEY SAY IT. Phillip and Toy Story sound like they're scolding him while Eddie said it with love, emotion and caring. ALSO, I ADDED THE PART WHERE BUCK TOLD HIS DAD TO CALL HIM BUCK! That's why it's interesting Buck hasn't told Tree stump to call him "Buck" in CANON yet.
In a recent post I completed about Buck's "In Another Life" journey being continued in Season 8 (linked here), I mentioned I would do a separate post that included details regarding the parallels between Phillip and Timbuktu that would illustrate how their wardrobes are similar and their clothing in the different episodes proves it. The same way Phillip calls Buck "Evan" Transparent does it too and like I mentioned in my original post, I believe he's doing it because he's supposed to be teaching Buck something.
Reminder both Phillip and Margaret are TEACHERS! However, the audience didn't learn this information until 6x11 when Bobby said it at the end of the episode. Well, I said Tyrannosaurs Rex is supposed to be a GUIDE/ADVISOR to Buck and people in those roles are there to teach and support the person they're assigned to. Therefore, it makes sense that Phillip's and Temu's clothes are similar.
While watching 8x5, I kept trying to figure out why Tonka Toy's wardrobe looked different from the way it did in season 7 and when I realized he wore a plaid shirt twice, I immediately remembered who else wear's them. It's Buck's dad, Phillip. He wears them ALL THE TIME! Usually he has a sweater, cardigan or a blazer on top of them and they always cover most of his shirts but THEY'RE ALWAYS THERE and they're in plain sight. Reminder, Phillip calls Buck, "EVAN" and he usually does it with so much disdain that anyone who hears him whenever he says it can tell he's aggravated or annoyed with him.
I've placed pictures of Phillip from different episodes beside one's of Toy Story to illustrate this point.
In the first picture, Phillip and Margaret are talking to Maddie because she told Buck about Daniel. They told her she had no right to tell him and Phillip just let Margaret become unglued the same way she always does when she's talking about Buck and Daniel. It's also the part where he explained Buck being born was the reason why he packed them up and moved them to Hershey. In the second picture, they're in the hospital looking at Buck but reminder, they weren't in the room when Buck's found family entered later in the episode. In the third picture of Phillip (at the bottom), they had just arrived in L.A. because Maddie asked them to come and in the fourth photo, it was a flashback and it's when Margaret told Buck, "Don't be stupid, Evan." The pictures of Tinseltown are from 8x5 and 8x1. He wore plaid shirts in both of them. The one at the top is of him visiting Buck in the hospital after he dislocated his left shoulder and the one at the bottom is of him at Eddie's house before Chris' online birthday party.
Tumblr media
Additionally, in 8x5 (below), Tree Branch was wearing another shirt that matches a color Phillip wore on two different occasions. It's a dark red almost burgundy color and Tonsilitis wore one in 8x5 while he was supposed to be helping Buck after he dislocated his shoulder. Reminder, it's the part where he told Buck he'd had enough screen time and it was time to turn off the computer. Also, he turned the lights out on him.
Tumblr media
The first picture of Phillip is from "Buck Begins" and it's a flashback from the night Buck INJURED his arm after he crashed his motorcycle. Phillip asked him, "Evan, what were you even doing in that part of town?" It's also the night Maddie gave him her Jeep and told him to go and be happy. In the second picture, Phillip is at the firehouse with Margaret (they showed up unannounced) and he's telling "Evan" that it wasn't his fault that he couldn't save Daniel. It's when BUCK TOLD THEM, "It's BUCK! The people who know me call me Buck!"
I did a post a few years ago about the way Margaret and T.K. 1.0 spoke to Buck and I included some information about the way their wardrobes were similar too (linked here). It's the same story with both T.K.'s because in the pictures below, Margaret is wearing a reddish color sweater over her blouse but reminder, she was yelling at Buck for almost dying. In the picture of Taylor from 4x8, it's when she called Buck, "Needy". In the second set of pictures, Margaret is wearing a purple shirt and she's yelling at Buck because he was sitting in a tree. After she did, he fell down and broke his left arm. Taylor is talking down to Buck while wearing a lavender (shade of purple) blouse but reminder, she was upset with Buck because he climbed up the crane after Eddie was shot.
Tumblr media
The point of this post is to illustrate what the show has been doing this whole time with T.K. 1.0 and T.K. 2.0. They're paralleling both of them with his parents. Taylor used to yell at Buck the same way Margaret did and now Trespass is talking to Buck and calling him Evan the same way Phillip does. Everyone who's ADMITTED that Buck prefers to be called "Buck" and not "Evan' fully understands that Tree branch calling him by his legal name is JUST PLAIN WRONG!
Tumblr media
The one-time Eddie used his legal name, it was to let Buck know he is needed and that his life is NOT EXPENDABLE. (Related post linked here.)
Tumblr media
THERE'S A REASON WHY THE SHOW ONLY LET'S TOMBSTONE CALL BUCK "EVAN" INSTEAD OF HIS CHOSEN NAME WHICH IS "BUCK".
Just saying!

Crying my eyes out at this scene because I wasn’t expecting the next line from Henry after Alex told about his experience as FSOTUS with mexican background (basically become a man in power that his father didn’t see much growing up and he could be that man, how important the role for him in this big scheme of politics) would be “I am learning.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How Henry couldn’t possibly understand it and Alex didn’t even hope he could because it’s just two different world, Alex doubt that Henry could barely relate knowing he’s born into royalty, twice Alex said “You may not understand this”/ “you can’t know what that means” while his eyes wander to the ceiling, looking at the world from an immigrant son eyes and instead of taking offense by Alex’s “lack” of trust in his ability to sympathize with his circumstances but instead Henry know exactly what to say.
“I am learning.”
Because he knows his role, he knows his place in Alex’s experience, he couldn’t possibly be in his shoes but Henry is feeling everything for Alex because he loves this man with all his heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one touch me because this was the single most powerful Line I have ever heard in any relationship and it was presented to us in the most romantic cozy way.
“I am learning”
The way Nick acted in this scene, staring at Alex, studying him, trying to really understand what in his mind, he wasn’t asking question just for the sake of making small talk, he asked Alex the question because he wanted to know about his thoughts, want to love him whole, and when he saw Alex drift away in his thought, he comforted him with a kiss on his shoulder. To say that I am here I might not know how it felt, but I will try to learn as long as you teaches me, whatever you teach me, I might not be the best student but you know I would be the most diligent and that’s what mature love is
and Alex..oh Alex.. just like me, he was surprised by that simple yet powerful sentence too, the way first he already drifted off into a land that Henry couldn’t possibly reach because the memory was far yet so close to him, how strange his world is and how many things he still have to fight for but after he heard what Henry said and felt the kiss from Henry on his shoulder, he turned around feeling genuinely proud and give Henry the biggest of smile because he knows…he knows that he is loving and being loved by the right person.
