In honor of mermay I drew Sirius as a merskelly or rather a leviathan

They’re a koi angelfish. Idk- It made sense. I imagine them being smaller than the other leviathans- I will be ranting in the tags-

For some reason MerSkelly brings up more questions than regular Skelly fjsdkf how did part of him get preseverved if all of him was underwater, walking on skeleton legs is one thing but a skeleton fish tail has no water resistance right? I know this my au shut up fdsjkfkj I also have no idea which species of fish he was in life because I didn't think about that oh well this au isn't THAT deep (hehe … deep … ocean…………)

Archie and Pal are of course Coelacanth mermen, an ancient (being the keyword) lobe-finned fish

Pal has a Megalodon tooth! Prehistoric underwater creatures are a whole new specality for him

Archie kind of has a little mermaid thing goin' on with being obsessed with human treasures that come from ships to explore and examine, I'm not sure how well merfolk archaeology would work but exploring the sunkern treasures keeps him occupied for now

I don’t usually add backstory but it’s Cross so I can’t help it. If that’s something you wanna read, it’s down below.

Otherwise, Cross is a convict cichlid, and Killer is a bucktooth tetra (which are known for nipping at others’ fins).

Cross was separated from his family to a tank all by himself for a long while before getting moved to his current one with all the merskellies. Because of this, he’s very socially awkward/emotionally cut off and just wants to be left alone for the most part. I imagine, when voicing this desire, Error just snorts grumpily and says, “Yeah, good luck with that.”

Most everyone in the tank will not leave him be as he wants, but especially Dream, Killer, and Ink, though Horror, Dust, and Blue are also frequently bugging interacting with him. Killer’s absolutely smitten, Dream thinks he’s sweet and should be included, and Ink’s just a dork.

He’s also totally mortified by their general lack of clothing lmao. They’re all just confused on how he can swim so fast with so much on himself.

How would merskellies interact with eachother? Any cool powers? Do they at some point all meet eachother when pining over MC?

Sirens are typically social creatures, much like humans. The boys all already knew each other and (much like begrudging neighbours) tolerate and occasionally appreciate each other, but like to stick to their areas. Sans and Red chat quite frequently considering they inhabit around the same harbour... Skull’s a bit of a weirdo, living in the ghost reef on his own like a hermit, and they pay occasional awkward visits to just check he’s not dead.

As for powers? As mentioned in the previous post, sirens can lure humans, bring a Soul back into a body, and turn recently deceased humans into sirens so long as they’re in a body of water. Aside from that they can swim terrifyingly fast and summon bones; but no gravity manipulation or blasters. Can’t be too op.

Gaaaah I love your skele gems theyre so awesome! All youre head cannons are! And I'm glad to see another Kinktober story cuz the last one was wonderful!!! But like...what are the other merskellies??? I dont want to interupt youre creative flow cuz youre putting out great stuff and youre a blessing for finishing all your wips! But the curiosity is killing me😭
