"I thought about it. Man, I really thought about it. But, what do you even get an Angel for Christmas? Doesn't eat, doesn't drink, doesn't even change clothes..." Dean frowned. "I couldn't decide what to get you."

Cas blinked in surprise. "Dean, you didn't have to get me anything-"

"I know, I know. But I wanted to." Dean clicked the lock on his bedroom door. Everyone had already gone to bed, but he wanted to make sure they had privacy.

"Hm. Then you have to know I would be happy with any gift you give me," Cas finally relented, his voice low and sincere.

Dean smiled and leaned back against the door. "Yeah, I kinda figured that, in the end. But I still wanted to get you something special. I even thought about another mixtape..." Dean pushed away from the door and took a few steps towards to Cas, still standing with his arms straight by his sides in the middle of the room. "But it wasn't special enough."

They locked eyes (Cas hadn't stopped staring intensely at him this whole time) while Dean reached into his back pocket.

"So, I finally realised what I could give you as your Christmas present. Something I've been wanting to give to you a long time, I've just been too chickenshit to do it..." Dean pulled a trailing piece of long red ribbon out of his pocket, slowly wrapped it around his neck, and deftly knotted it into a simple bow. He could hear the rapid pulse of his own heartbeat in his ears, but Dean had never been surer of anything than when he reached down and pressed one of the ends of silky ribbon into Cas's palm.

"Me," he said.
