it's important to understand that dirk was not uniquely tortured or anything like that. in general it's not great to play the "who suffered most" game and going off the assumption that dirk had some kind of unique caliber of suffering compared to the rest of the cast feels like dismissing other characters and their unique challenges... also dirk already has a bit of main character syndrome within the fandom and those two things go hand in hand

This theory has been in my head for awhile now so I’m gonna ask does way by any chance have schizophrenia because I noticed in one comic u made he talks to the dead skulls of the creatures he was once friends with, and that just made me think he is but idk if collectors can work like that (love ur work btw!)
Tumblr media
In Way's case, they do it more out of comfort than delusion. They are aware that the skulls are dead and see the remains more like empty shells than creatures (or at least they are trying to, as it was explained to them that way before). But after their friends died, Wayfarer stayed there for months, during which time they developed a habit of talking to the bodies while they were skeletonizing. Refusing to face how isolated they were and that it was time to go back. After realizing they would be picked up soon, they took one of the skulls back to the archives. In their own internal monologue, they usually 'talk at' their friends like they were still having a conversatoin, but the skull functions more like a focus or keepsake that was passed on to them
While they can have develop their own share of mental issues, (the unfun part about mental health is that the problems can stack) I'm hesitant to make a clear association between them and a disorder, esssspecially one that is already often stigmatized. All of them have done terrible things, and I don't want to perpetuate the stereotype that anyone who isn't typical will become a monster, even if the things they did had other reasons
(thanks!!:D)

*Clears throat into the mic*
Adam is ASPD-coded. He repeatedly has difficulties with empathizing with the other characters in the two seasons. He’s hyper-focused on his goals to the point that he neglects to consider others in mind. He has a tendency to control and dominate in his relationships. These are all ASPD traits listed in the DSM-V.
This is the same guy that was A(. Completely ok with cracking someone trapped in ice and potentially killing them in the process as long as the person inside was not one of his teammates, and B(. Told the fourteen year old redhead with parental issues and self-worth insecurities that the only reason they were put on his team was because “there was an opening, you were available” in the most nonchalant way possible.
Adam from The Hollow does not understand how emotions work but he still tries his best. Like he is genuinely an asshole sometimes but when he knows he does something wrong, he makes up for it because he knows what’s right in the end and he still cares for those who are closest to him. He just needs the consequences of his actions spelled out in big letters sometimes. I love him for that.
As someone who has BPD I love Cluster B personality disorder representation that isn’t demonized! We aren’t inherently monsters! We can choose to be decent people just like a neurotypical person can choose to be a huge jerk.
…Also he’s giving Autoromantic. It’s a vibe. “I mean look at me! How could you resist?” Says Adam, who likely admires himself in a mirror daily and would probably kiss his clone if he had the chance. Good for him. I need the self-love he has. Go on casual dates with hot guys and then treat yourself to a movie night, Adam. Slay.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Have a nice day.

one of my many beige flags is that I am completely normal with seeing anybody's personal headcanon of any character unless it's a character that I relate to so heavily to the point that I sometimes see screencaps of them and think "that's me", in which case I can only feel good about headcanons that also relate to me. you can make the most detailed essay length post about how he has a specific mental disorder and use tons of evidence from the show and make total sense but I'll still look at it and be like "but *I* do not have that mental disorder therefore he doesn't either". I won't like...COMPLETELY ignore any fan content like it but the entire time I'll be shifting uncomfortably in my seat like hm. this is not correct

Screen Shrink (#1?): Milo Change
**This was written for funsies, strictly for funsies, and only for funsies. This is not meant to be taken seriously or as fact**
Tumblr media
Okay, so...changing gears a little bit here from my typical game schpiels, but it's like, we've been hanging out together for a few months now, yeah? Yeah, so it only makes sense that I can share some of these little weird quips of mine.
So, fun fact, I am a mental health therapist~! So that means that I make money by listening to people vent to me about their problems, concerns, traumas, and all of that and helping them work through it. Another thing that I do for money is diagnose them. Kinda cool, huh?
Now, the reason why I shared that with you is because, I involuntarily start diagnosing characters when I watch TV and movies, or read a story or news article, or play video games...or visual novels lol. Anyways, the sole reason of this post being created was because I've been plagued with these thoughts for a while, and no one I know IRL either play or will admit that they play visual novels, so I have no one to share these specific thoughts with.
I may or may not make this a thing on my blog but meh. I just have to get this one in particular out. All of that being said...tell me that (OG) Milo Change doesn't meet the criteria for Adjustment Disorder with Mixed Anxiety and Depressed Mood.
Please let me explain, because this has been burning me for months.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Okay, so listen... Actually, let me preface this first.
People are very unique and very odd, and because of that, people don't always fit cleanly into a diagnosis. Why did I mention that? Because, sometimes, based on what a client is describing, it can fit the criteria of a certain condition but not meet the exact requirements. It's like when doctors diagnose an illness; you don't have the exact 3 symptoms for the flu, but you have 2 of them, so they diagnose and treat it like the flu until proven otherwise, hence why they say "flu-like" symptoms versus just "the flu".
Okay, so anyways, I said that, because some of you are probably like "Nah, Milo definitely has anxiety", and you wouldn't be wrong! Milo absolutely fits the criteria for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, but remember that thing I mentioned about the "flu-like" symptoms? Therapists do the same thing. We either give a broad/general diagnosis (because we've gotta bill them under something, even if it's just very mild depression, so we can keep seeing them) or we give an extremely specific one; Milo's is -- or appears to be, because again, people are unique and odd, and what I see another therapist may not -- an extremely specific one, which is Adjustment Disorder with Anxiety and Depressed Mood.
In order to meet the criteria of Adjustment Disorder, you pretty much would have had to undergo a big change within the last 3 months, like a divorce, getting out of jail, having people move in, or something of the sort. Now, the "mixed anxiety and depressed mood" are what are known to be "specifiers" and those are pretty much exactly what they sound like -- they make the diagnosis more specific or explain it a bit more.
Tumblr media
All that being said, it appears that Milo meets the criteria for Adjustment Disorder with Anxiety and Depressed Mood because:
- He had a major change in scenery from a small town to a bustling, city-based campus (adjustment) - Technically, we could include that he's getting used to being this psycho's someone's significant other...yeah, let's add that as an extra layer (adjustment) - He also has very low self-esteem and self-worth, so that very likely means he struggles with feelings of worthlessness (depression) - He be a touch starved boy (depression) - He has a pretty shitty set of "friends" that frequently mistreat him (depression), and this poor kid is probably trying to do everything in his power not to piss them off, but it's a constant guessing game (anxiety) - But he also opts to have them versus no one at all because it's hard enough putting yourself out there to meet new people to start with. Still though, it's like...damn, to be mistreated or to be lonely (depression and anxiety) - He's pretty jumpy when you speak to him, stutters a lot, (it looks like) he fidgets with his clothing, he's a nail biter, and frequently avoids eye contact (anxiety) - Not to mention that this poor baby has a general mistrust of new people being nice to him since he immediately thinks that they want something from him or playing a joke on him (anxiety)
Like, come on. You cannot TELL ME that that isn't -- likely -- adjustment disorder with anxiety and depressed mood. The man is 100% an anxious wreck, but like, shit, I would be, too, if I left my familiar shitty environment to a totally new shitty environment; I knew what to expect at home, not so much here, ya get me?
Now, would I change this diagnosis down the line? Absolutely, because, if he's still an anxious wreck 6 months down the line, clearly it wasn't the change in environment that had him on edge like that, or rather that's not the thing that's continued to have him on edge like that. Initial visit, though? This is 100% what I would've given him if I did his assessment.
I just had to get this off my chest. I've kept this to myself for MONTHS now, and I just couldn't anymore man! But what do you think? You think another diagnosis would've fit him better? Meh, probably.
Anyways, thanks for letting me share that. I have a lot more characters I have diagnosis for that I'd love to share one day. That honestly may be sooner rather than later since I've broken the seal lol.
Welp, I've met my yap quota for the day...at about 2 in the morning (as of writing this) lmao. Big preesh for getting this far. Remember to drink water, don't be dumb, and hope to see you around~!

I would very much like to hear your Vox headcanons
Takes a deep breath before opening my mouth cartoonishly wide.
Definitely was disabled during life but probably hid it pretty well. I feel like Vox was sick a lot growing up.
Having a body thats both mechanical AND flesh? Yeah that sounds like an actual nightmare to live.
The only upside is Vox using his electricity for weird electrotherapy. And sometimes he gets annoyed and overdoes it when he doesnt immedietly feel better.
Vox makes his own aids and equipment, and deals with most of his health issues by himself too unless its too bad.
Makes sure his aids are at least stylish in the VoxTek branding. But he doesnt sell them probably. Those are his. Made for himself.
Probably has arthritis and definitely Hypermobile and generally his body just HATES him tbh. Maybe EDS or even POTS. Chronic migraines too (you would too if you had a screen for a head!!!!!) Doesnt have a pinpointed diagnosis though. Vox just sort of Deals with his symptoms.
He didnt start having as much chronic pain until he really started focusing on upgrading himself and everything etc.
Hmmm....I feel like Alastor has arthritis so it was one of the things they bonded over when he were on good terms
I feel like it wasnt the root cause when he was alive but polio WAS kinda ....a thing...that was going on..
Teleports any chance he can get over walking long distances.
He wouldnt consider himself housebound but he kind of is? Not in a traditional sense, its more out of choice. He never really leaves the V tower unless he has to. Lives there, brought his work there so he didnt have to leave, literally moved his closest friends in, and then moved THEIR work in. Why would he leave he has everytbing he'd want.
Thats not even a headcanon Vox just. Did that.
I feel like he gets flare-ups pretty easily. Constantly overworking and getting generally just getting worked up over things (ALASTOR).
Probably prefers crutches and canes over a wheelchair when it comes to mobility aids. I feel he'd feel too short idk. but the idea of him in a wheelchair is very cool to me. Nerdy Evil Supervillian
Okay thats all for now thank you for letting me infodump tehe

Sabo still struggles with memory loss. He had his childhood back, of course, he remembers Ace and Luffy and everything they did together. But he doesn't remember some stuff. Some anecdotes Luffy tells oh so excitedly? He can't recall that those happened. And if he does, it's all blurry and never at all like Luffy says. But he never says anything because that would break his brother's heart, to know his older brother isn't fully back with him, so he nods and smiles and pretends he knows what Luffy is talking about every time.
His room is filled with Post-it notes. Stupid, really. Dumb stuff. But he has all the meetings he needs to remember and the missions he has to do, along with everything he wants to write down at some point properly. The walls are covered in pictures of the people he loves (Luffy, Ace, Koala, Robin... All the others that have ever meant something to him because he refuses to forget somebody again).
He keeps writing dumb stuff down. Anything. He refuses to forget. He denies the possibility of doing it again.
But he forgets. Sabo keeps forgetting important dates. Important parts of his life, like his past with his brothers (he forgets a random adventure they had that he swore he had talked about the day prior) and crucial things he has to do. He has a hard time picturing his memories. Putting them in his brain. Turning them into images. Saying it's frustrating is a huge understatement.
Koala helps him out, of course. She's hard on him so he finishes his paperwork, but she knows it's difficult sometimes. She's his personal calendar and diary. She informs him of what he has to do during the week and always tries to talk and talk about anecdotes that she knows he still remembers but knows he loves to hear again.
His mental health isn't the best either, but he refuses to acknowledge it. There's a revolution at hand, he can't stop working. And fighting. And doing more and more and more. But sometimes it's just too much. Sometimes he goes into depressive episodes he can't control, and the medication is either addicting or the worst thing that has ever happened to him. Sometimes he's a bit too intense. Koala says he needs to calm down, that he has a problem with his fixation on the revolution and his past. Sabo keeps saying that it's fine. But he sometimes forgets or has blurry images of the fights and the people he has killed, filled with energy and excitement and like he has the power of a God. He doesn't like those. Enjoys the moment. Hates to forget it. Hates to know what he did during it too, even if it was for a good cause. Despises the look Koala gives him, also. Makes her promise not to tell Luffy about all of this.
But it's fine, he keeps saying. Sabo will keep trying to never forget anything ever again.

🌿✨ A Little Reminder for My Fellow Warriors ✨🌿
Hey, lovely souls! Just a gentle nudge to those battling contamination OCD. Remember, it’s okay to have those thoughts—they don’t define you! 💖
Imagine your mind as a garden. 🌼 Sometimes, weeds might pop up (hello, intrusive thoughts!). But you’re not alone in pulling them out. You have the gardening tools of self-care and support! 🛠️💪
Try this: when those pesky thoughts creep in, visualize them as clouds. ☁️ You can’t control the weather, but you can choose to dance in the rain! 🌧️💃
Also, let’s celebrate the small victories! Did you touch something ‘contaminated’ and not wash your hands immediately? 🎉 That’s a win! Each step is progress, and you’re doing amazing things every single day. 🌟
Let’s support one another and share our little victories! 💌 Drop a 🌻 if you’re with me ! ________ Highly Recommend this ERP Workbook :

okay so since the Cupid Ye was aired i’ve been constantly thinking about cartman’s mental condition. we know he’s probably taking medication now, so i hc him having antisocial personality disorder and bipolar disorder. and i’ve been imagining him having his depression episode for the first time after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. he’s not used to it, he has no idea what’s going on and why he suddenly feels so tired and numb all the time, so he just stays at home skipping school and avoiding social contacts. he’s scared and the “it’s all because of your illness, poopsikins!” from his mother doesn’t help at all.
and sooo i wrote a short moment about this?? i’m sorry for any mistakes because it was originally written in my native language, not in english :(
***
Ever since early childhood it was clear and obvious to everyone that Eric Cartman had problems. Not even like that, Kyle corrected himself in his thoughts. Eric Cartman had Problems. Sociopathy, sadism, aggression – all that a person could notice in Cartman after only half an hour of communication.
And Kyle wasn't too surprised when bipolar disorder was added to all of the above in a sloppy psychiatrist’s handwriting.
By the time Cartman was finally diagnosed he had already gone through several phases of mania. Kyle even did a little research on the disorder. "To know what to prepare for the next time I meet this psycho," he told Stan. "And to know how to help him if necessary," he added silently to himself.
By the age of fifteen, Stan's company was already used to Cartman's regular explosive mood swings, which were accompanied by crazy ideas, aggressive behavior, and, if absolutely unlucky, deaths of a couple or more people.
It was typical: after a short break, Cartman would burst into Kyle's room (often through the window), start showering him with business plans, startup ideas, and opportunities to have extreme fun. Kyle was silent, trying his best to ignore him and frowning irritably when Cartman smiled ecstatically and rushed to Kyle, tugging at his sleeve and almost shouting that everything would be better this time and that it’s a one hundred percent successful scheme.
For some time Broflovski genuinely believed that everyone in their friends group was going through such tortures, but after a short questioning, he found out that they had not seen Eric's mania with their own eyes. Kyle understood — and they won’t, when Cartman just chuckled at the outraged "What the fuck, Fatass?" and replied, "I guess you're just special, Kahl. They wouldn't understand." His eyes flashed especially maliciously, and Kyle looked away hastily so as not to give Cartman the opportunity to start another fight.
Well, all in all, no one's world collapsed when Cartman was diagnosed with a new mental illness. Over the past months of insane hallucinations and obsessive intrusive thoughts, he managed to make everyone sick of him. He refused to go to the therapy sessions for a long time, shouting, running away and trying to get into a fight, and Liane was too afraid to find out another unpleasant truth about her son, preferring to go with the flow and shut him up with the fulfillment of every single of his whims. Kyle doubts that anyone would have done anything to help Cartman if he hadn't intervened. Why – it was unclear to Broflovski himself, but Cartman's first depressive phase hit them both unexpectedly too hard.
Disappearing from everyone’s sight for two weeks, Cartman ignored calls and messages (although Kyle had a serious doubt that anyone other than Butters and Broflovski himself texted him) and skipped school despite Mr. Harrison's threats of expulsion.
Liane avoided answering questions, pursing her lips in frustration and talking her way out with a trivial "He's sick." Kyle didn't believe a damn second, knowing that if Cartman was sick, Kyle would have known about it the very first. Something was wrong. For some reason, the desire to find out what exactly was much stronger than it should have been when it came to Eric Cartman.
***
Perhaps Kyle really shouldn't have worried so much — not to the point of climbing into Eric's window at night. But the Cartmans hadn't opened the front door all day, and by that time Kyle's nerves were so stretched that they threatened to break if he didn't get answers to his questions in the next few minutes. Disturbing thoughts and images of possible turn of events appeared in his head. Perhaps Cartman was dead? Or, on the contrary, has killed someone and had been dissolving dismembered body of his victim for two weeks? One option was no better than the other, but nothing was even close to what he saw in Eric's bedroom.
Haggard, seven kilograms thinner, with an unhealthy skin color and bags under his eyes, he looked painfully wrong, not Cartman-like. He didn’t look exactly ill — more like lifelessly tired. But that wasn't even what hit Kyle so hard.
He did not suspect how much had been hidden in Cartman's eyes before – lively fire, hatred, anger, enthusiasm, passion – all this was gone, dissolved, buried under this empty, dead, unblinking gaze. For a second Kyle even thought (hoped?) that he was really dead, but the heaving chest under the blanket and almost inaudible sound of breathing exposed life in Cartman. He was lying on his back, his head slowly turned towards the window. Kyle sought recognition on his face, but did not see a single shade of any emotions.
He froze in the window, making eye contact with Eric, feeling like he saw something he shouldn't have. He tried to revive the old familiar hatred that usually boiled in him as soon as their eyes met, but Cartman’s emptiness totally killed all the anger. Kyle climbed through the window – Cartman didn't react in any way, lazily closing his eyes – and walked up to the bed, touching his shoulder timidly.
“Hey, Cartman?” he said, shuddering at the way his voice echoed throughout the bedroom. Cartman didn’t open his eyes but smiled hardly visibly.
“Hey, jew”. His voice was empty and emotionless and Kyle pursed his lips with a bit of a pain.
“You need to see a doctor, Cartman”, he said firmly as Eric finally opened one eye disinterestedly. “I’ll help you. I promise”.
And he did.

Every time someone says that Goro Akechi has Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm torn between knowing that people can headcanon whatever they want and the fact that the only reason most of them think that is because they don't know about the practically canon reason.
Goro Akechi has Complex PTSD, which comes from prolonged trauma/abuse. It's also very commonly misdiagnosed as BPD due to a lot of similarities. Maybe Goro does have BPD, but he definitely has C-PTSD. He may have a personality disorder, but we know he has a lot of childhood trauma.
He has symptoms of both. Overlapping ones and exclusive ones. I'm not saying that he doesn't have BPD and just wishing that more people would recognize that it's more likely either C-PSTD or both.
