when i came home earlier i was walking across the parking lot kinda lost in thought and i just registered out of the corner of my eye that there was a dog running past me like a meter or so ahead. well my first thought was huh. what's a dog doing here without its owner?? poor thing?? but when I finally looked up the dog turned out to be a fox and it had stopped like right ahead of me and looked back at me and in that moment I think we both got startled :')

I was going down the old yt rabit hole, just watching 9 almost 10 year old videos nbd, and I came across the age old argument/explination/confusion/huh/what/¯\_(ツ)_/¯ of Mangle of Five Nights at Freddy's FUCK'N TWO's gender. Along the lines of; his pronouns are Loudly he/him in-game, but the fandom would not shut up about, but it's a girl, look at her, girl foxy. Period done shut up about it-BUT THEY'RE CALLED HE/HIM!!! Fuck it, they go by they/them now, fuck you, fuck me, fuck Mangle and it's gender. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is ALL those fandom fights ending in fire and tears and bloodshed came back full force and I went

"FUCK IT, BIGENDER MANGLE!" As like a knee-jerk reaction because GOD it's been a fight in the trenches for literally almost a decade. AND THEN I went "oh fuck, bigender Mangle. It all makes sense now." And then holy choir rang out and god in her holy he/her glory bestowed upon me some mediocre cheesecake of which I ate all of it in one sitting...Where was I? Ah yea, amazing how fast that war could have ended if being bigender was more widely known back then, but hey, we can finally put down the pitchforks now right?

Node wasn't sure quite how strong Volt's Knuckles was- but they weren't about to take the fact Harmony could sometimes beat him as anything less than an absolute feat of raw power. They blinked a few times, an eyebrow sliding upwards. That eyebrow only went further seeing the pink on Buddy's muzzle. They knew at that point that Buddy and Harmony were dating,- but...it was still funny to see the boy's reaction to his OP girlfriend.

"I'll do m'best not to...." They grinned slightly, scratching at the back of their head. "...but I make no promises." Besides, if worst came to worst, they could always trade Harmony one of their own fail stories...it would only be fair, at that point.

They fully believed Buddy had been momentarily broken, given how the teen had all but stammered to a pause, a darker red hue encompassing his normally-slightly-lighter fur. Perhaps asking him about training was a bit much, but they'd still wanted to make sure they could dig up what they could about Buddy and Harmony, without being too painfully direct. Stars only knew, they'd about died when Bless' mothers had gotten hold of them several years back.

"Dang, that's nice!" They watched the machine for a few moments- eyes flicking towards Buddy. They couldn't see him using any controller or something to move it, which meant it must have been connected more thoroughly to the mobian...or reading his eye movements. It was a piece of tech that reminded them much of Inari. "I bet that gadget'll really come in handy in the future.." And if Buddy was making stuff like that at this age- they couldn't help but wonder what he'd be creating down the line. But- they didn't want to annoy the kid if he'd been told that a lot. Everything was a hesitant step when it came to Node.

"Oh, thank Chaos." They scratched at the back of their head once more. Node had been worried that Buddy and Gadget were two separate mobians here- but...that alleviated that concern. So the name and nickname were technically interchangeable...but they'd do their best to stick to his real name. "I kept wonderin' if Buddy n' Gadget were two different mobians, but I wasn't willin' t' check...!"

Scratch that. Hesitant step? More like 'too nervous'.

"A small price t' pay for stories." They stuck out their tongue playfully. For a split second, Node disappeared- reappearing on Volt's other side to peck his cheek before their vanished again- once more where they'd been before. "...still. If those're her wishes, then I'll just wait until Harms's okay with telling her own stories...if she ever does." Everyone deserved privacy.

"....I think I might try to explore a little around the campsite...any of ya wanna come with?" Maybe they could collect a bit of wood for later... It occurred to them that Volt had actually asked about it earlier...they'd never taken him up on the offer. "Volt? Y'mentioned that there might be a hikin' trail or two?" Maybe those who weren't focused on tasks for the camp could join. But that depended on who all would be okay with a leisurely walk along the mountains' trails.

"You know I can race circles around ya!" Bless' own speed was blistering- the wind picking up and flashing off either side of the path. Leaves were flung skyward, creating a near-wave of color behind the hedgehog as he soared down the path. He wasn't aware of the upcoming sharp turn- but the hedgehog was quick to adapt in an instant.

While Harmony had jumped and basically used the tree like a slingshot, her laughter filling the air... Bless took a hairpoint turn, essentially spinning his body halfway. It made his stomach churn ever-so-slightly, but so long as he didn't do it too often or fast, it was more than fine.

"You think that kinda turn'll stop me? C'mon, Harms!" His own laugh accompanied Harmony's, even as he tried to yell over the winds blasting by the duo. Of course, unlike Harmony, he gained no extra speed from that turn.

Did she think the small head start would give her an advantage? Not a chance, but Harmony knew the terrain a bit better than Bless. Not to mention she was slightly lower to the ground with how she ran and could clear low hanging branches without slowing down. Bless might not have been as lucky and would need to swerve along the beaten path. But she was having a blast, the laughter that carried back down from the campsite said as much as Volt just shook his head with a smile.

“She was strong, she just didn’t know how t’ control as well as she does now. So she was always afraid t’ use her full strength on anything…” Looking to Buddy, he could see that calculated look in his eyes. “She still doesn’t use her full strength on you guys. Only Mighty and Knuckles get her at full strength.”

“H-how strong is she?” Another chuckle escaped Volt at Buddy’s sudden question. The smirk he leveled the wolf might have said it all, but just in case.

“T’ put it simply… She can sometimes beat Knuckles in an arm wrestlin’ match. Still can’t beat Mighty.” The poor teen’s eyes had never been so big, and there was a tinge of pink across his muzzle. “Didn’t realize ya were datin’ somebody who could bench a bus, did ya?”

“We… we’re….” Full blown laughter followed Buddy’s face becoming that much of a darker shade of red. Volt swore his glasses had even steamed up in the process but he turned to Node to give the boy a break.

“Expect her t’ glare if she hears ya snickerin’.” It was only a light warning, knowing full well that was the worst his daughter would do. Although he was also pretty sure if Harmony wanted to, she’d just flop across Node’s lap and pout purposefully. Or drop Blep in their lap again… one of the two.

When the question was shifted back to the teen, his red ears raised as did his head.

“Oh… Uh… Training has been good. We did a few search and rescue exercises last weekend. It was a lot of fun. I got to use the drone I built.” He lifted his wrist with his communicator, a small machine disconnecting from it and launching into the air to hover. It flitted back and forth, matching the way the wolf moved his eyes. “I was able to give a Birds Eye view to find them hiding in a tree hovel after tracing their energy signature.”

“And that would be where he got the nickname Gadget.” Volt chuckled as the boy looked off to the side and put his drone away. “I have plenty o’ stories o’ Harmony. Got baby pictures too, but she’ll smother me in my sleep if I show ‘em t’ her friends.”

Thank Gaia the teen wasn’t anywhere near enough to hear this conversation. Harmony would have died of embarrassment by this point but was more focused on keeping just ahead of Bless while running the trail around the mountain. The trail was well kept but not looking completely unnatural, but there as a sharp turn that was fast approaching and Harmony took that as a chance to show off how much she had improved over the years.

She didn’t even slow down and jumped at just the right angle to use a hearty tree as a launch point to make the turn and keep on going. Her howling laughter carried on the wind that whipped around her. “Come on slowpoke!”

Okay, so if we’re doing Into The Spider-verse, but Crow Edition, possible Crows either canon or fanon or AU: Shisui, Amano, Sai, Shikako (because of course there’s an AU out there for this) … oof, who are the other three?

Uzume in an AU in which neither Shisui nor Amano are around to be ANBU Crow T_T

Aoba, maybe?

Which then could do a similar Anko version in an AU in which Aoba isn’t around to be ANBU Crow—although maybe that’s too repetitive of the Uzume one. Maybe it’s just that, in a world where Konoha trusts her (maybe because she sleuths around and is integral in ripping Danzo out of his hole in the ground, thereby saving the Uchiha clan who now have way more political clout, or at the very least, are back to the clout that they had before?) Anko becomes an ANBU and she gets Crow and Aoba—because I will give up ANBU training buddies only when I’m dead—chooses to be ANBU Snake even though everyone is leery of that mask (like everyone is leery of the Fox mask)

… Or is that, maybe, too much of an offshoot/spinoff?

I mean, I always headcanon Mikoto has having been ANBU, though not usually Crow.

… BUT ALSO, in the Spider-verse there are multiples of the same person—with, obviously, Peter Parker being the most common Spiderman—so maybe just different versions of Shisui, Amano, and/or Sai and then the lone Shikako is the outlier? OR it could be that these are distinct Crows, but for the most part, each of them know who the other are—at least by reputation if nothing else—and the fact that no one has any idea who Shikako Nara is (or, bleakly, the ROOT brainwashed non-Shikako version of herself) is the Miles Morales-esque outlier part. SHE’S THE ANOMALY IN THE CROW-VERSE! (But instead of angry, its angsty O_O… or existential?)

Okay, okay, let’s get these Crows in their respective numbers according to the poem, I’m gonna do some logic puzzle nonsense:

Sorrow, Joy, Girl, Boy, Silver, Gold, Secret Never To Be Told

Obviously Shikako is a Secret Never Told. I feel like Uzume would be either Sorrow or Girl, meaning Amano would be the matching Joy or Boy because I want them to be complementary. Then Aoba, Mikoto, Shisui, Sai… let’s see… if Uzume is not Girl, then we could do Mikoto as Girl in a “young Mikoto becomes ANBU Crow because it’s the only way she can see any action because the Uchiha clan is being weirdly gross and misogynistic and are blocking her from taking any risky missions because they want her to marry Fugaku and have extremely powerful heirs with him” kind of way

And while not EXACTLY matching as nicely as Uzume and Amano, I feel like I could then explore my Aoba headcanon as a partial!Uchiha with Boy. And, boy, do I have a weirdly specific headcanon about partial!Uchiha Aoba stumbling into both the Crow summons (he reverse summoned himself!) and the Crow mask—both very Uchiha flavored inheritances—only after the Uchiha Massacre when he is an adult and 1) wouldn’t use the name, but also 2) wouldn’t be able to rub it in the face of the clan that rejected him and his non-Uchiha parent, especially if he was like… a bastard Uchiha child who was never claimed. ( @loveelemental and I had a discord brainstorming session about an Aoba centric fic in which his partial Uchiha heritage makes for a fascinating post-Jashin Sharingan activation, which is where we came up with a lot of details for this partial!Uchiha theory)

Which then leaves Silver and Gold for Shisui and Sai… which feels pretty good? I’d probably—because I’m biased—make Shisui Gold and Sai Silver because even if they are both (maybe) Uchiha, Shisui just FEELS more sun coded even though his Sharingan is “unbreakable genjutsu”, while Sai is moon coded (and also you can get into his brother Shin, the silver of his hair, the shine of moon on blades, and similes of second place and how even as Hikaku no one really wants him first and foremost the way that his brother Shin did T_T sad boy)

So I guess the fic would be these different ANBU Crows somehow interacting with each other, and honestly the easiest way to do this would be Crow!Shikako does a sort of seal space/pocket dimension/temporary mission team using the ANBU Crow mask as a cornerstone. An “I’ve gathered you all here because we all need to murder our respective Danzos, and together we can all help each other do that. Also, imagine the satisfaction of killing Danzo seven times… or more, if he already has Izanagi”

Another way is a more contemplative/abstract “echoes/ghosts of possible timelines” thing in which, again, the ANBU Crow mask is, like, a liminal space. But wearable. Haunted or cursed? And to make it even more angsty the echoes/ghosts only appear when you’re about to die… which, to be fair, ANBU, probably pretty often?

I guess what my brain is trying to do is more of a multi-versal Sense8 than an Into The Spider-verse thing… hm… I don’t hate it at all… it could be fun to puzzle out some more…

That whole penthouse situation was so dang weird--I wanna know about "the farm," too!

Like, the popular theory is/was that Lestat is the one causing "The Groan;" either still recovering from how Louis & Claudia effed him up, or how Armand will eff him up in S2/S3, or whatever other book plots they include.

But I'm wondering if The Groan is caused by whatever poor unfortunate souls are on this "farm!" O_O Are the lower floors of the penthouse just PENS, housing evil-dooers being bled dry, or fang-bangers cool having vampires nibble on them for money like Damek?

Like, Louis calls himself a "botched vampire" who hasn't killed since 2000, and pays Damek to suck on him a bit, and made a whole show out of eating ice-cream with Daniel at the end of the episode.

But naaaah, he nommed on that scared baby fox while it was screeching and hollering in pain--there's a reason why some folk go vegan!

Cuz like, why was trying so dang hard to freak Daniel out!? Like sure, he's trying to teach Daniel a lesson about the curse of vampirism and the bloodthirst; looking as creepy and predatory as possible.

Meanwhile he's ALSO trying to make himself seem like he's reformed and above it all, he's figured everything out, he's got all of life's answers--when his mental state's the most fragile it's ever been.

Like Louis said: he humans don't contemplate the life of the rabbit before we cut it--so I'm just not buying into too much of what he tells Daniel about his holier-than-thou diet. I think The Farm is chock-full of Groaners, and I wouldn't be surprised if half of them were there against their will.

There are no quotes of the texts in the article but if prosecutors actually do have texts between Trump’s team and county voting administrators about illegally accessing Dominion Voting Machines that’s a big deal.

Even without January 6th, that would put this scandal over Watergate. That would mean they actually tried to tamper with the literal vote. Directly. In a way that there’s no legal defense for. Not even a wonky one.

That’s at least phone records of Trump representatives at least conspiring to tamper with at least one county’s Dominion voting machines after the election but before the certification of the vote. That’s the minimum of what this can represent if this proves to be factual.

Considering they have mentioned Giuliani by name and Giuliani’s lawyer has issued a statement, it might go quite a bit over the minimum.

What breaks my head is that January 6th makes this not the worst crime that Trump committed. How do we find evidence of what would, before Trump, be considered the worst crime ever committed by a presidential reelection campaign and its just not the worst thing they’ve done. Like even if this ends up being nothing but hot air and smoke, even if it’s real and they’re acquitted, even if somewhere there’s a smoking gun text that leads directly to Trump ordering it done and he gets convicted of it in court it’s just not the worst thing he’s done. That breaks my head.

This is the sort of political crime we put in history books. This is sort of crime we make multiple documentaries about. And it’s not as bad as it got. This should not be yeah, yeah, that’s consistent, whatever. But it is.

It also strikes me that Roger Stone now has the potential to be involved in both of the two worst cases of political scandal in US history. He was not involved in the break in of Watergate but his political career began with the group that organized the break in. I doubt he was involved with the team that did anything with the Dominion machine but he sure did work for both Nixon’s and Trump’s reelection organizations. Maybe he needs to go in a history book.

Just… I want to start chanting, “Lock him up,” but I don’t think that’s the appropriate punishment for this level of crime. This actually is the level of crime that someone should lose their citizenship rights over. And they’ve done worse! These aren’t Americans, they’re Trumpians. Or whatever. Same as Confederates. They gave their loyalty to a different state. It breaks my head. I must Karen and I can’t even. I can’t wrap my head around something that would drive me nuts but it’s par for the course. How did we get here? I know and I am having trouble accepting it. I already thought Trump was evil and I am reading this about Trump that convinces me that he is utterly irredeemably evil in the history book kind of way.
