Hey I just stopped scrolling my dash bc I remembered that last night my partner and I sat in our bed and listened to Stravinsky's 30 minute Rite of Spring composition? And that shit changed me I'm not even fucking with you if you haven't just. Taken a moment out of your life to listen to it I HIGHLY recommend, and it's given inspiration to so many things? When this composition was first played the people who attended thought it was the work of a possessed man and started a riot. It inspired One Winged Angel. It introduced the concept of constantly changing rhythms in one piece. He had a really big impact on rock and roll! If i remember my facts right, he was the only classical composer to witness Disney's Fantasia? I MIGHT be wrong on thay one though. BUT STILL RITE OF SPRING LEGITIMATELY HAS HAD SUCH AN IMPACT. ITS INSPIRED THE SCORE OF STAR WARS! AND MANY HORROR MOVIES! And it had a CLEAR influence on the score of the first Drag On Dragoon game (which is one of my hyperfixations). Anyways Stravinsky went so hard with Rite of Spring he inspired the world's first mosh pit.

We are up late eating in bed. I joke about us being partners in crime and you say, “just tell me where to dig”. "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

when we were studying the bible in literature class (so we have the context necessary for later works that reference the bible), i think we were at the book of jonah, and one of my classmates was studying the text very intently, and then looked up and earnestly said "professor, i don't understand the will of god"

the teacher was just like. well sadly i am a literature teacher and not a priest so i can't help you there. but if it helps, many people throughout history had the same problem.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

alright, I’m annoyed with the class that I’m taking. it’s about writing novels, and I thought it would have cool stuff about balancing your narrative and developing themes etc, but instead she spent the first class talking about how every book fits into the Hero’s Journey (the monomyth template). and I was somewhat of a contrarian, and said “can you give us examples of books that don’t fit into this template?” and she said “no. because all books fit.”

but I dunno man, I just finished reading this Korean book where the plot is just the character having a string of hookups and reflecting on them without changing in any way. I don’t know if it’s possible to contort that into the Hero’s Journey.
