#ThoughtOfTheDay🍓 where Lan Wangji decide to leave his job and the city, to live in the countryside and become a farmer. Lan Wangji worked at Cloud Recesses Company for a decade now, but at time flew by and with a couple session with his therapist, he came to a conclusion; a life like this wouldn't make him happy. He needed change, and fresh air. He talked to Lan Xichen and to his Uncle, who at first were not convinced. But Lan Wangji looked for everything anyway; and a week later, he was on the train, on his way to his new life.

Lan Wangji was staying at Yiling's Bed and Breakfast for his first night. When he arrived, the view mesmerized him. There was a lot of trees, mountains far away, clouds above them, and the sound of river nearby. The water was so clear and shiny that the sun was reflecting on it. Everything felt amazing. Lan Wangji took a deep breath, and turned his gaze to his home for the night.

That's when he saw the most beautiful person he ever saw in his thirty years of life. Maybe this land was sacred, maybe this man was some God walking on earth to make the flowers bloom in this cold spring and help the commoners while declining receiving any kind of payment, because he was a good God and not some hypocrite one. Maybe Lan Wangji just caught a fever for being under the sun for a while now, without any hat or sunscreen.

It took only a couple of heartbeats and starry eyes that seemed to contain the whole universe in it, for him to realize.

Lan Wangji just fell in love.

look, i’m not saying that lan wangji intentionally tied wei wuxian’s soul to the love song he wrote for him as a teenager.

i’m just saying that the first time wwx heard it was while he was slipping away in a dark cave with nothing but lwj’s voice to hold onto.

i’m just saying that the lans already have songs written to bind the dead.

i’m just saying that after he died he was not compelled to answer inquiry because he was already beholden to another song.

i’m just saying that it was the first song that he played in his second life — the song he associated with pacifying the dead and leading them away from the edge of madness.

i’m just saying wwx is remarkably well adjusted for someone who died as brutally as he did and was literally summoned up as a spirit of vengeance.

so i'm not saying that lwj intentionally bound wwx's soul, but maybe, just maybe, a soul in need of a tether found a song that would hold him, and then never let it go.

#ThoughtOfTheDay✿ where modern Lan Wangji lives a quiet life, a peaceful one that he actually likes. Lan Wangji is fine by being alone. He even has a schedule with his friends, whom he meets every friday in the afternoon to take tea. He lives on his own, and work at a local bookshop. The town he lives in is calm, small, and so close to nature that he doesn't even need his car to see a single glimpse of a mountain. He is surrounded by nature and quietness, and his life is great. Until a stranger comes to reside there.

Lan Wangji hates new trouble; and this guy seems like trouble. With his motorcycle, his black clothes, tatoos and piercings, Lan Wangji feels threatened. After all, he is one of the few youngers of the village. The elders do not like him either. He is well educated, polite, but too pretty on the sight Lan Wangji wants to throw up. How can a human be so beautiful? he asked himself. He looks like a sunshine, someone you can only admire from a distance, and never get close or you might burn.

Wei Wuxian found a job at a garage, upon the street where Lan Wangji works in the bookshop. Every morning he goes there to buy a new book and try to start a conversation with Lan Wangji. Apparently, he wants to be his friend because they're around the same age. Lan Wangji doesn't respond. He never respond.

In the village, the elders require to expel the new-trouble-guy. Amidst them is Lan Wangji. Everyone have their own reasons for that, and they share it with the rest of them ;

“He doesn't recycle enough.”

“He is too loud.”

“My daughters seems to be fond of him, instead of focusing on their studies.”

“I don't like his face.”

Lan Wangji's reason is simple; he craves Wei Wuxian. In every aspect he could think of. And that is a problem.

After their meeting, the elders and Lan Wangji decide to do everything they could to make Wei Wuxian leave this town.

It is a little mean, but Wei Wuxian doesn't seem surprised to be treated like he value nothing as an human being. Lan Wangji feels a little guilty. Specifically on a certain day, where Wei Wuxian comes into the store and buy a new novel written by a famous writer; Jiang Yanli. He looks so sad while holding his book to his chest, his eyes unfocused and distants.

— Are you alright? ask Lan Wangji.

And, to his shock, Wei Wuxian cries. He cries so much he fall to his knees, and start shaking. Lan Wangji hold him tight, grabs a tissue and delicately wipes the tears away from Wei Wuxian's cheeks. He keeps saying “sorry”, how sorry he is. Lan Wangji just cuddle him a little more strongly.

It is winter, it is cold, and that day, Wei Wuxian doesn't pretend to be alright for the first time of his life.
