I might have girlbossed a bit too close to the sun with this one in terms of kitsch...but I still love it!
Wanna colour the lineart that goes with this? Look below! ⬇️
The only thing I ask for is that you tag/message me so I can see your creations and give them some love. Also please do not remove my username/watermark. I have a transparent version of this lineart too, so if you want that? Hit me up!

WIP Wednesday: Arranged Marriage Wingfic Preview II
<- PREV
"Father."
He waited for a response that didn't come. Eventually, Lan Wangji decided he'd shown respect enough, and sat back into a kneel once more. When he looked up, he could see the figure behind the curtain had moved so they were now facing him.
He swallowed, a question he feared to ask caught in his throat, and instead said, "Father, I am to be married."
More silence followed, broken only by the rustling of fabric from across the room.
Lan Wangji wet his lips, and continued. "The emperor arranged it. It-" He breathed out, chastising himself for feeling so out of control. "-it is a good match."
The quiet stretched on - and then, from behind the curtain there was a huff.
"Come close then, child," a voice that sounded unused to speaking requested. "Let me see you one last time."
Heart thudding, Lan Wangji shuffled to the bedside, his hand reaching up to part the curtain that separated him from his sire. To his chagrin, he noted his fingers trembled as they swept the fabric aside.
Cun by cun, his father's form was revealed to him, brittle in the way those who battled illness tended to be. Looking into the former emperor's eyes - into the tired lines of his face - it was hard to believe that this man was once a respected ruler. Nestled upon sheets of imperial silk, he seemed so defeated; so weak.
A skeletal hand came out from within the folds of the man's robes, to hover over Lan Wangji's cheek, as if afraid to come closer. Holding his breath, the doe leant forward, bridging the gap between them.
Flesh met with flesh, and a breath gusted out of Taishang Huang[1], as if the air had caught in his throat, too, at the sight of his son - grown now, and ready to be sent off into another man's home.
"You look so much like her," he murmured, stroking a line under Lan Wangji's eye with hands worn soft by years of inactivity.
"Mother?" Lan Wangji dared to ask.
His father nodded, a wistful twinkle in his eye.
"I should never have married her." He patted Lan Wangji's face and smiled sadly, as if he hadn't just unloaded the most damning revelation upon his son. "She would have been happier elsewhere."
You, too, he did not say, though Lan Wangji sensed it lurking behind his teeth.
"I hope your marriage suits you well," his father finished; again, holding back his full meaning - the way his own had not.

Canon vs fanon Sanji discourse is always funny to me because… girlie which fanon Sanji are you talking about? There’s so many! You’ve got:
Bisexualji: Basically canon Sanji except he’s bi. His women loving antics can range from no different from canon to a bit toned down. Usually low-key about his sexuality but otherwise normal about it.
Internalised homophobiaji: What the name says. Feelings have to get punched out of him (usually by Zoro). Can be annoying to read/write but the when done well it’s chef’s kiss (pun intended)
Slutji: Most featured in E-rated fics. The fact that he sleeps around (mostly with men) is sometimes used to make someone jealous (mostly Zoro). OOC but when it’s one of those every man on the Grand Line dicks down Sanji fics… it doesn’t really matter does it.
Frenchji: When Sanji is essentially turned into APH France - refined, high-class, has impeccable fashion and uses expensive cologne, wears a deep V blouse, long wavy hair is always preferred. Mostly seen in 40!Sanji fics.
Twinkji: The most common target of these “fanon Sanji ew” complaints but unless you’re on Wattpad he’s actually a rare occurrence? Identifiers are an exaggerated height difference with Zoro, skinny, completely gay, 2000s yaoi level of bottom. I have to say I’ve maybe come across this 1% of the time.
Whumpji: He’s traumatised, he’s depressed and anxious, he thinks no one loves him, he thinks he deserves to suffer. Vinsmokes are 11/10 the time involved. Luffy is sunshine incarnate in these.
Princeji: When he’s either in a royalty AU or never escaped Germa. Usually acts more “pure” than his canon version because Zeff didn’t raise him to be sassy and chivalrous. Maintains the 5-9 year old Sanji personality. Very cute. Even cuter when combined with rogue/knight Zoro.
Tsunji: This is just canon Sanji. The louder he screams at you the more he loves you. His love language is beating you up then leaving a plate of food next to your work station. Objectively the best Sanji.

AU Master Post!
I realized I have LOTs of little AU's floating around on this blog. SO I thought it was a good idea to collect all the ones I find and make a master post!
Half for you guys and half for me. Because sometimes I come across them again and go OH YEAH and start adding to them again! :D I've organized these as best I can for now. Some of the tags are just for general AU's without any specific story. Those AU's I'll leave with just the tag and link. Some may only have 1 post in the tag at the moment. Others will have more story or detail to them. I'll make sure to include a summary of what to expect on this post as well for those cases.
SO! Check out the AU list under the cut! Let me know if anything seems broken or if there's an AU I missed!
Mermaid AUs:
#Mermaid AU This is a catch all for any post relating to mermaids or undersea creatures. (You can also look for the tag #not sssf related to find the mermaid AU stuff that is not related to that LARGE AU)
#Sun Stone and Seafoam This is my largest AU on this blog. It is an ongoing story about the love between Wei Wuxian and the merman he found one day. You can also find these under the #Merji tag.
A loose Little Mermaid AU. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji fall in love only to be separated for 3 years due to fate and a wicked curse. The cost of magic is indeed high, but if it grants him his own legs, is it worth it? This story has its own masterpost as well
#Eelxian This is a smaller mermaid AU featuring Dragon Lan Wanji and Eel Merman Wei Wuxian.
#Pirate AU #Diver AU #Angel AU
Creature AUs:
#Foxji AU Lan Wangji is a white fox who tries desperately to fight his mischievous nature. One day he meets a crafty dragon who is determined to bring out Lan Zhan's playful spirit. As time goes by, Wei Wuxian is cast away from the noble dragons, his horns shattered in disgrace before he sadly loses his life. Time passes and one day a strangely familiar crow appears in Lan Wangji's life. Could it be?
#Bunxian AU Wei Wuxian is turned into a rabbit by a stray curse while a teenager in the Cloud Recesses.
#Ghost Au #Potatoji AU #Muppet AU #Animal AU
Modern AUs:
#Modern AU This is a catch-all tag for all modern au's.
#Skater AU Comes with a fic! (complete) Also known as the Honey Buns AU. I wrote this with my fiancee. This is a modern AU that is 80% fluff with a crime drama going on in the background. But since it's told from the protagonists perspective, it doesn't really come to light until the end.
#Flight Attendant AU Also seen under the Travel AU tag. Lan Wangji has to unwillingly go on a business trip and he hates it. That is until a rather attractive flight attendant catches his eye! Too bad they'll never meet each other again... or will they?
#East Side AU It's a fic! (incomplete) Finally cracking under the pressure of being perfect, Lan Zhan decides to run away from home. He takes the bus to the end of the line, not knowing where he's going to go next. He wanders to the river where he finds a homeless boy, an orphan like him, who changes his life. After convincing him to go back home, the two stay in touch and together they change each other's lives.
#Ice Skater AU #Ballet AU #Vacation AU
Fantasy AUs:
#SoE It's a fic! (incomplete) After years of hiding and running after the war Wei Wuxian, the Demon of Yiling, is finally found and captured. Sentenced to death, he is saved at the last moment by claim on his hand. In order to repay a life debt, Lan Wangji offers to marry Wei Wuxian in exchange for his life. Knowing that Lan Wangji does not love him, Wei Wuxian accepts the offer.
#Princeji AU #Sleeping Beauty AU #Howl AU #Witch AU
Canon Adjacent AUs
#Drowning AU Lan Wangji does not notice in time to avoid Wei Wuxian tipping his boat, and ends up falling into the depths of Biling Lake
#Feelings AU This is a catch-all tag for any AU where Wei Wuxian realizes either Lan Wangji's or his own feelings earlier than in the original story
#Adoption AU #Time Travel AU #Da Ge Lives AU #New Baby AU #Killer JC AU #Tinyji AU #Childhood Friends AU

I found out yesterday that the remake of Wrong Carriage, Right Groom is already out and cried real tears. I still haven't watched the new one yet (so not sure what goes on there) but in the original, one of the grooms is a hot general. ❤️‍🔥 I think you can see where this is going… 👀
Anyway, Princeji ending up marrying enemy Generalxian instead of Crown Prince Wen Xu (due to his own brother's stupidity) is pretty funny imo.
Prince Lan Wangji was to be given to the firstborn son of Emperor Wen Ruohan as thanks from the Kingdom of Gusu after a vicious attack by the Jiang court left the Lan imperial palace in ashes. With the palace of CR aflame, victory seemed impossible for the Lan monarchy, their monklike Gusu warriors falling to the enemies' blades in unprecedented numbers, their sentries caught off guard in the dead of night by Jiang assassins. However, the tides suddenly turned in their favour when the Crown Prince of Qishan, Wen Xu, arrived with his men. Swords in hand, the prince's army beat the enemies back, one foul barbarian at a time, until none remained alive.
The current king of Gusu - LWJ's brother - as a fair ruler, grateful for the assistance - promised a grand reward to the Wen prince as thanks for his timely aid. Perhaps, had he known the prince's greedy eyes would set upon his own brother, Lan Xichen would have been more careful with his words. But a vow made is a vow that should be enacted, and as king, he could not selfishly take back his word to suit himself. That would hardly be the example he wished to set for the masses. So, stomach pooling with dread, he agreed to grant the foreign prince's wish, and gave Lan Wangji away to him.
The very next fortnight, LWJ stepped into a carriage bound for the empire's capital of Qishan, destined never to set foot in his home of Cloud Recesses again. Though he held strong for his family's sake, inside his heart was weeping for the life he'd given up, and the strange, undecided future he rode towards. He could only hope the rumours regarding Prince Xu's proclivities were unfounded - that his new husband would do him no harm - or else he might truly weep the tears that clung to the roots of his lashes.
----
In a courtesan house, across the border line, WLJ - daughter to an indentured whore - prepared for the happiest day of her life. Or rather, the happiest day of someone else's. When the sun rose above the town square, she was to walk to the front of the house, and step into the first carriage that pulled in for her. Prince Chao had told her little else of the plan, other than that she would be given a bridal gown at a rest stop several hours out of town to change into. Once she did, WLJ would be guided to a fine bridal carriage, and from there taken to Yiling.
In Yiling, she would marry the Kingdom of Yunmeng's fiercest general, Wei Wuxian, in the place of some poor, hideous lass her Chaochao had almost certainly disposed of, named Luo Qingyang. As it was a political marriage, arranged hastily after General Wei's latest dastardly exploits in order to ease tension, the pair had never met. Therefore, WLJ would be safe to take her place.
Once she wed the general in stead of Luo guniang, and they retired to the man's bed, she would work her charms to seduce him under her - and drag straight through his heart with the hunting knife concealed under her skirts. Then, she would send up a signal flare to call Chaochao to her position, and receive all the praise and riches she deserved for completing such a nauseating task.
Many maidens would squirm at the thought of killing someone in their own bedchamber, but WLJ was neither squeamish, nor a maid. She was proud and determined, and too cocky for her own good - something General Wei had little patience for. So, when she arrived at the assigned rest stop and no one came to greet her - leaving her to sit impatiently until well into the night - it was probably for the best. Thanks to her prince's incompetence, she was saved that night from what was sure to be an untimely death.
----
LWJ arrived in Qishan and instantly wished to turn right back around, his nerves flaring. Not only had the marriage been weighing heavily on his mind, but the very path to the alter had been overtaxing, with one of his future brother-in-law's men accosting him during a quick break by a mountain stream, demanding he switch into a different carriage for the last leg of the journey.
The man had seemed put out that he already wore wedding garb, and had pushed him to change into something more to the prince's preference, but LWJ refused. The gown he wore now had been sewn by his mother shortly before her passing, in hopes of her spirit accompanying him to his wedded home, should she be unable to attend in the flesh. He would not be taking it off until Prince Xu entered the bridal chamber with him, and only then to avoid sullying it the same way the man no doubt planned to sully his bride.
Shortly after arriving in the empty, eerily silent courtyard of the imperial palace, a maid appeared to call him out of the carriage, hooking his arm with her own in order to guide him inside his new home. LWJ stiffened under her hand, disliking submitting to the touch of a stranger, but ultimately let her do as she pleased. He couldn't very well walk around blind with a veil covering his face. What did it matter if a servant girl hooked elbows with him, when her master was likely to soon paw all over places even LWJ rarely dared touch?
The maid swiftly led him to the room prepared for him to wait in, assuring she would soon be back with tea to quench his travel thirst. Hearing the door to the room slide shut behind her, he raised his veil to peek out at his new surroundings.
LWJ found himself standing in the middle of a quaint, cluttered parlour he could scarcely believe belonged to an emperor's palace. Wherever his eyes landed, scrolls filled his view - piled one on top of the next till they unbalanced and scattered, rolling over to dimly lit corners, and under tables and dresser stands. The furniture itself was nice, though clearly well-worn - all dark woods and soft cushions, faded grey from years of exposure to the Qishan sun. It was not at all what LWJ had expected from purportedly the richest empire in the known world, and he couldn't help but wonder if he was already unfavoured by the prince who'd asked for his hand - and whether or not that should come as a relief to him.
As he attempted to adjust to the possibility of being sent to the cold palace the morning after his wedding night, the maid reappeared, leaving behind a pot of sweet smelling tea, and some pastries surely meant for the wedding feast, and not the bride required to fast. She was gone again before LWJ had turned from the window he stared unseeing out of, leaving him all alone with a plate of snacks before him.
Not trusting the food, yet starving all the same after several days' fasting, LWJ polished off the plate in record time, the teapot beside it fully emptied when he was done. He stared at the table upon which the crockery rested with a conflicted expression. Though he felt less faint now he'd replenished himself, he could only hope the prince hadn't ordered his meal be laced with aphrodisiacs, or whatever else a man might slip his unwilling bride on their wedding night. As LWJ's only point of reference were erotic stories, he had little clue on what to expect.
He waited in the room for what felt like hours after that, though the sun had failed to yet sink below the horizon when at last he was called upon again. When the maid knocked at the door to signal her entrance, he hastily recovered his face, allowing her to once more guide him around the palace, through three sets of corridors, until his hand was directed into the grasp of another, much broader one.
LWJ shivered as who must be the prince touched him. His palm was rough against his skin, and hot, like that of a man who trained with his blade and little else. He could hardly imagine how that hand would feel on him later, and the thought distressed him so much he felt the sudden, violent urge to retch. The prince seemed to notice, gripping his hand tighter around LWJ's trembling fingers, as if to ensure he couldn't escape. The almost painful pressing together of their palms brought reason back to LWJ. With some difficulty, he swallowed down the taste of bile on his tongue, and walked onward, side by side with his groom.
The actual ceremony itself was brief and uninspiring - a cursory set of bows, the lighting of incense, and a kind word from what must be the prince's other spouses, his concubines, and bed slaves. When he'd been first matched with the prince less than a month prior, he'd assumed the wedding would be a grand, unbearable thing LWJ was trapped into attending well into the night, before being taken away to be bedded by his drunk husband. However, it seemed he'd gotten ahead of himself, as there had been no drinking, and little festivity at all surrounding the newly wed couple. He didn't know whether to appreciate the modesty, or take it as a sign as to what his future held - a life of loneliness and isolation, his status given or taken away at the whims of a thrice-wedded prince.
Upon entering the bridal chamber, LWJ couldn't help but shake. He was briskly led to the bedframe, where he was lowered down to sit upon the mattress, the position thankfully hiding the minuscule shivers that wracked his limbs as he folded his hands into his lap. He was apprehensive of what was to come, not only because he found Prince Xu to be personally repellent, but because his lack of experience in such matters left him all but - disregarding the flowery descriptions writ in poetry - in the dark.
As soon as he was seated properly, he felt the prince take a step back, his hand grazing the underside of LWJ's veil, making his breath catch and heart flutter.
"Now tell me," a lyrical voice demanded, brimmed with artificial niceties. "Who exactly are you, and what happened to Mianmian?"
Before he could answer, LWJ found the veil tipped back from his head, the room around him sliding back into view in crimson-hazed increments. The bridal chamber was small; rustic - as if he'd been assigned the least luxuriant rooms this night to teach him what foul treatment to expect at the prince's hands. Unfortunately, the man stood before LWJ posed a far greater problem than any cold shoulder from Wen Xu could hope to achieve.
"General Wei," he breathed out, his heart hammering rapidly in his chest.
The general seemed genuinely shocked to see him for a moment, before crossing his arms, a thoughtful tilt coming to his brow.
"Prince Wangji?" he asked, any sign of surprise already hidden beneath a wary mask. "You're not a woman..."
Annoyed, LWJ curled his hands tighter into his lap. Of course he wasn't a woman!
"Where is my husband?" he demanded, firm but not overly cold. Though he knew little of the Yunmeng general - other than the rumours that flew to Gusu of his exploits, and that he had been conspicuously absent from the siege upon Cloud Recesses' Palace - he had no reason to expect deception from the man. Surely, if Yunmeng had had him kidnapped and wed to one of their own in order to strike a wedge between Gusu and Qishan, they would have no reason to keep him in the dark at this point.
General Wei merely cocked his brow in return. "I could ask you the same, Lan Wangji. Where on earth is my wife?"
Though his use of LWJ's name was beyond disrespectful, the general seemed more confused than suspicious. Hesitating for a moment, LWJ answered. "I don't know. I was under the impression my carriage was destined for Qishan. My-"
Suddenly, LWJ froze, an epiphany forming in his mind. The carriage he rode to his current location had not been the one he'd set out from Gusu in.
"Wen Chao..." he murmured, his voice biting back venom. To think, the brother of his rightful groom had sabotaged their union in such a convoluted manner, breaking Gusu and Qishan's trust with one another. But to what ends? Panicking, LWJ realised that once his brother heard he'd disappeared, the Wen would be - rightly - suspected of dealing with him in some way. With the palace unfortified and their army gutted, no doubt any action taken by the Lans at that point would amount to suicide. Gusu would fall into enemy hands; into the very palm of the empire that sat at its border.
"Wen Chao?" General Wei's voice broke through his spiralling thoughts. "You mean Qishan's second prince? The idiot who absconded off with a three month supply of my men's training supplies?"
LWJ blinked up at the general. "Training supplies?"
General Wei closed his eyes as if pained. "Eighty eight new recurve bows, twenty longbows, one hundred and seventy spears, thirty longswords, and four hundred sets of Yunmeng silk armour, all lost. Jiang Cheng nearly killed me when he found out. Never even managed to find-"
The general continued to speak, but LWJ heard no more, his head spinning. If General Wei wasn't lying, the Wen had access to enough of Yunmeng's army gear to easily convince anyone they'd been attacked under Jiang orders.
"When did this happen?" he asked.
General Wei tilted his head at him, his face uncertain. "About two months ago? Why?"
A pit formed in LWJ's stomach, and this time, he found it much harder suppress the urge to sick up on the floor. General Wei must have noticed some of his predicament, for he swooped down to his knees, supporting LWJ around the waist until the nausea left him.
Slowly - stiffly - LWJ turned to face the Yunmeng general, his supposed enemy and apparent husband.
"Two weeks ago, Cloud Recesses was attacked by men dressed in Yunmeng armour, with weapons bearing the lotus insignia. A great portion of the palace was burned to ashes." He swallowed thickly, averting his eyes from General Wei's face to the belt at his waist, crimson as spilt blood. "Prince Xu arrived with his men just in time to ward the attackers off. He said he'd long known Yunmeng intended to attack the Lan, but their plan advanced, and so he'd come too late to adequately warn us. My...my brother offered him a boon in gratitude. He asked for my hand."
The room was silent as General Wei processed his words. At length, the man sighed - a low, weary sound. "If what you say is true, then I must warn my liege."
LWJ nodded resolutely in turn. "I must let my brother know."
Without answering, the general leaned forward to reach for the set of cups left upon the side table, already filled with conjugal wine. Handing one to LWJ, he hooked their elbows together and drank the cup dry in one shot. "I suppose that makes as allies, then."
Shyly, LWJ nodded, his ears heating as he sipped from his own cup.
"I-"
But whatever he'd been prepared to answer with went unspoken, as the strength of the alcohol pulled LWJ down into a sudden, deep sleep.
----
Prince Wangji woke the next morning to find the general slumbering underneath him, his hands tied together with the pale length of the prince's own ribbon. When he realised what he'd done, LWJ's heart almost stopped in his chest.
It seemed, in all the excitement of the day, both LWJ and the general had forgotten they'd officially been wed. It would no doubt take some time for both of them to come to terms with this unexpected union.
----
The previous night:
Wwx: Are you alright?! Prince Wangji, wake up! 😨
Drunkji: ...
Wwx feels his pulse: Did someone drug the wine? 😠 Lan Wangji, come on, it's- it's after mao shi! You're late!
Drunkji suddenly awakens with a start. Upon finding himself snuggled comfortable in Wwx's lap - in a crimson decked bridal chamber - he takes the general's wrists in hand and pats them: Good husband.
Wwx: Uh?
Drunkji unties his ribbon and wraps it around Wwx's hands: Mine.
Wwx: 😳
Lwj attempts to stand, pulling Wwx up with him. The general is very tall (Lwj is slouching). He's very impressive! Lwj cocks his head cutely to the side, deeply considering something.
Lwj: ...Yours.
Wwx: Huh? What's mine?
Lwj points - very dopily - to his lips: Yours? 🥺😚
Wwx: 😳😳😳 Prince...
Lwj cracks one eye open a little, swaying forward toward one of the three (3!🥺) General Weis in his vision.
Lwj: 😚😚😚 ...All yours. All.
Lwj falls forward, causing Wwx to catch him against his chest, his bound arms slotting down around his waist to hold him upright. For a moment, the new position clearly disgruntles LWJ, and he fights against it.
Wwx: Ah! You'll hurt yourself!
Lwj pouts: No. 😤
Wwx: ...No?
Lwj: Nooooo! 😡
Suddenly, his thrashing pulls the general's robes from his shoulder, leaving in its place a tanned expanse of bare skin.
Lwj: 😳😳🥺
Lwj: 😚😚😚
Wwx: Wha- Where are you kissing? Stop that!
Lwj does not stop. He doesn't want to. Blearily, he pushes Wwx back, sending them both crashing into the bed.
Wwx takes the brunt of the fall, and wheezes.
Lwj: Mn. Good. 😚😚😚😚😚😚
Try as he might, Wwx can't seem to direct Lwj away from pecking at his chest. Whenever he manages to draw his attention, his cheeks get snuggled and kissed instead! In the end, the general gives up, flushing. He knows well when a battle is lost.
Wwx: Just what kind of princes do they raise in Gusu?
Lwj squeezes at Wwx's chest: Soft husband~🌸 😚😚😚
Wwx: 😳
Lwj's hand slips downwards, and he blinks down at what he finds: Mn?
Curious, and ecstatic to discover there's even more of his husband - as-yet still covered - he begins to trail lower: 😚
Lwj: 😚
Lwj: 😚😚
Wwx: Hey! No, get back up here!
Lwj:
Tumblr media
Wwx is certain the moment Lwj's teeth brushed against his hipbone will haunt him for the rest of his life. He does not sleep well that night, even long after the princely menace has drifted off on top of him. How is he meant to survive with a husband who treats his heart so poorly?! 😭

Prince Lan Wangji and his devoted General Wei Wuxian are dominating my thoughts again, and I just like the thought of them being in love, and Princeji fastening his forehead ribbon around Generalxian's arm so he can wear it under his vambrace while he's on the battlefield and keep it safe until he returns back to his prince, safe and sound.
Whether the Prince wears a substitute forehead ribbon or his forehead proudly bare, is up to you.
