thinking abt aroace floyd,,,,,
ppl always headcanon characters who are "emotionless" or quiet, and could LOOK like they aren't interested in love to be aroace. but that's not always the case and i think it could fit Floyd SO well
floyd, who is clingy, only needs his friends. he would be completely fine being without a partner for the rest of his life, and in fact, he plans it being like that. he's happy for his friends when they get partners but it's not for him and so he'll call them "cringy". honestly, he probably wouldn't even know what aroace was. he just knew he wasn't interested in people like that and that's fine.

You know what, I think I know why I like The Torn Knight/Torn Basilisk.
They remind me of the concept of Lords of Shadow.
Hear me out, the Knight was supposed to help the suffering people, but gave into bloodlust, until they no longer had anyone to kill, before cutting themselves in half.
One half creates a new world, bringing forth healing water and life. The people it creates worship it, and praise it for their life, and the life of the world around them. It is everything Holy from the knight, in one being.
The other half, creates a plague. A plague with the only cure being the Healing Water. It's a monster. A shell of its former self. It is everything evil within the knight, in one being.
With the main character from 2000, destroying the Torn Basilisk, and bringing forth their own recreation of life... And their own Basilisk, as stated in the ending cutscene, "The world trembled and shook, shedding its dead skin and embracing the light"
What happened with the shed skin? The husk of what once was? I personally theorize that the land is in a never ending cycle of Self-destruction and Rebirth, thus the character bringing forth rebirth of the land, healing its woes and sorrows, but a basilisk of their own making is just below their skin, waiting for its own birth.
Now, in LoS, the Lords of Shadow are husks, filled with every unholy aspect of the knights they were separated from. These parts could not go into Heaven, so they stayed on Earth, creating their own centuries of destruction and chaos. Until a knight, most holy, was sent to destroy them. However, as his journey continued, he became corrupted by their darkness, since it had nowhere else to go, but him. When he destroys the final demon plaguing the land, known only as The Forgotten One, he recreates the world in a way.
The world is technically more peaceful, given there is only one source of Darkness on its planes, but that source of Darkness far exceeded any other that had walked before it.

Maybe I'm grasping at straws here, but I'm currently rewatching The One That Got Away. Red says "I've been finding my way home since thirty" and it immediately reminded me of Buck, who is currently thirty himself, currently still on the mission to find his couch, his home, who always ends up at Eddie's.
#maybe this makes sense#maybe I'm not connecting the dots properly#just very interesting to me#buck x eddie#buddie#911 fox#911 abc#911

I’m realizing something about watching movies. When you get ready to watch a new movie, maybe you’re excited, maybe you’re anxious it won’t be as good as you expect, maybe a million things. Then what the movie almost expects you to do as a movie-goer is to find a release from yourself, and those feelings to watch the movie with new eyes and let it guide you. The messages it gives are easier to understand if you almost let go of yourself and just watch. Let the movie fill you with emotion, with meaning. And the problem is we have people who can’t do this, who can’t let go, so the movie’s messages aren’t seen through new eyes, but through eyes that will find something in that message that isn’t there because they brought it with them. They enjoy the movie through a specific, maybe half-blind lens, when what you need is to enjoy it through the movie’s lens, let it take you somewhere else. Experience the movie as it happens, let your emotions flow, and if you let go of yourself instead of bringing baggage you won’t let go of then that appreciation is tainted. This is not me saying certain movies don’t hurt because they might hit a nerve or might hit a feeling you didn’t even know was there. This is me saying that if you only look at a movie through the lens you want to rather than what the movie wants you are going to find either disappointment or anger, or a message that you brought with you, reflected back by the lens it came in. Movies, art, are supposed to be about letting go in a way and seeing what the art wants to say.
#maybe this makes sense#and maybe it doesn’t#but i had a realization today#and wanted to write it down#yes this all stems#from watching a movie with my mom

They might not experience sentient love, but they can experience positive association, and isn't that what love is at a base level?

Dunno how to put it properly into words but lately I find myself thinking more about that particular innocence of fairy tales, for lack of better word. Where a traveller in the middle of a field comes across an old woman with a scythe who is very clearly Death, but he treats her as any other auntie from the village. Or meeting a strange green-skinned man by the lake and sharing your loaf of bread with him when he asks because even though he's clearly not human, your mother's last words before you left home were to be kind to everyone. Where the old man in the forest rewards you for your help with nothing but a dove feather, and when you accept even such a seemingly useless reward with gratitude, on your way home you learn that it's turned to solid gold. Where supernatural beings never harm a person directly and every action against humans is a test of character, and every supernatural punishment is the result of a person bringing on their own demise through their own actions they could have avoided had they changed their ways. Where the hero wins for no other reason than that they were a good person. I don't have the braincells to describe this better right now but I wish modern fairy tales did this more instead of trying to be fantasy action movies.
#v tomhle se mi líbí krakonošovo tajemství#in general just#less hard realism in media and more fairy tales maybe? i feel like the world would really use that these days#''but it doesn't make sense that the hero wouldn't notice that the stranger is very clearly not human'' it doesn't matter!!#he's being polite!!#fairy tales#media#sorry i'm still riding the high of the yearly czech christmas fairy tale tv marathon

still ruminating over Lost In the Book With Spooky Skeletons Part 1, so here's a selection of some of my favorite little bits! (...some more loosely paraphrased than others) (I just feel like Idia has no room to criticize in general, okay)
anyway, I'm sure we're just going to have a fun time celebrating Halloween and nothing bad is going to happen whatsoever! :)
#art#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#lost in the book with nightmare before christmas#hajimari no halloween#calling dibs on skeleton kisses as the name of my band#man scully is just a delightful little weirdo and i'm enjoying him immensely#(i'm going with scully until we get something official just because it makes me think of x-files)#(スカリー is also how the agent's name is transliterated and i don't know if it was intentional but i love it as a bonus reference)#(i want to believe™)#gosh though#'no one at school likes me because i won't shut up about halloween and jack skellington' i'm feeling VERY attacked right now twst#look scully your people are out there#just get on the forums and -- oh wait you're probably from like the 1800s or something#(my theory is that he's from the past and there's just some Book Magic going on to bring us together)#(LOOK they made a point of saying that the book fair has been held annually for a super long time)#a hot topic goth born before hot topic was invented...so sad 😔#i dunno i could be wrong but that feels like a good working theory for now#if it wasn't for mal sensing twsty ~magic~ on him i would think he's like. a christmas elf who's going to kidnap jack in a reverse-nmbc#(not ruling that out though because it would be amazing)#god all the sprites in this event look AMAZING. loving the desaturated colors and the extra drawn-on lines 😍#i'm genuinely kinda sad that we aren't gonna get to see every character like this#who knows...maybe halloweentown will be imperiled again next year...#come back and destroy my keys again please#(that said i'm doing weirdly well so far?)#(i promised i'd save for sebek and just do cursory pulls to get the SRs and not hope for the SSRs)#(...but then leona jumpscared me four coffins in anyway. halloween magic is REAL)

I think that one thing people fail to understand is that unsolicited literary criticism coming from an online stranger who is reading with no knowledge of what the authors intended goal is, is not going to be received the same as say: the authors beta reader or friends who know what the authors intended goal and has the sufficient knowledge and input to help the author reach that desired outcome.
"But I'm only trying to be helpful" How do I know you have the knowledge and literary skill for you to be able to actaully do that when we don't know each other and you are essentially a stranger to me? Are you applying this criticism based out of personal biased experience and desire to see the story or characterization be driven in another direction or tweaked, or do you know the author's intentions for the character? If the story is incomplete, are you basing your criticism of a character on the incomplete narration with only partial information available of them or are you building up a report until the story's completion? Did the author provide you with the information needed to make a fully informed criticism?
Have you discussed with the author what their plans are or are you assuming them based off the narration, especially if the narration is proven or implied to be unreliable or missing key points of the plot? Are you unbiased enough to help them reach their desired outcome for the characters and story regardless of your personal feelings towards the characters/antagonists and setting? Can you handle being told your specific input isn't wanted because you're a reader and/or have no written anything relating to their genre or topic? Do you understand and respect that the author's personal experiences might influence their writing and make it different than how you would have done it personally? Do you understand if an author only wants input from a specific demographic relating to their story?
If it's for fanfiction or other hobby media, are you holding a free hobby to a professional standard? Are you trying to give criticism because you feel like the author has produced 'subpar job performance' of their fic? Are you viewing their work as a personal intimate outlet or something that must conform with mass media? Are you applying rules and guidelines when the fic is shared for simple sharing sake? Is your criticism worded appropriately and focused on the parts where the author has requested input on rather than a general dismissal and or disapproval?
Have you put yourself in a place where you assumed you have the input needed for the story to evolve better, or have you asked what the author needs and what they're having trouble with? Can you handle having your criticism rejected if the author decides their story doesn't need the change and not take it as a personal offense against your character? Are you crossing that boundary because you think you are doing the author a favor? Are you trying to be helpful, or do you just want to be?
I think sometimes when people hear authors go 'please don't give me unsolicited writing advice or criticism' they automatically chalk it up to 'this author doesn't want ANY constructive feedback on their stuff at all' and not "i already have trusted individuals who will help me with my writing goals and- hey i don't know you like that, please stop acting so overly familiar with me'
#small rant brought to you by: listened to my younger sibling's friend be very upset today because an original story she wrote gets bashed#the story itself is fine maybe a little fast paced but overall she was happy with it's progress#and there is this one dude who keeps trying to tell her that her story needs to go another direction to 'make sense' and it changes the end#after she's repeatedly explained she's happy with the outcome and does not want to expand on that plot point any further#dude says she's 'unreceptive to criticism' no dude you're just being a dick#constructive criticism helps the AUTHOR reach THEIR intended goal#not steer the story in the direction a reader wants to see it go#sara shush#pls don't reblog with any 'but i take unsolicited criticism all the time' this isnt about you. your boundary is not other people's boundary

Here's a fun game: if you had to assign an Avatar the Last Airbender character to each of the MunchyMc peeps, who would they be?
🌿
Oooh a wonderful wonderful question. I'll do what bending I think they'd have, and then below the cut I'll do the actual character assignments :3
Water: George, Puffy
Earth: Dream, Hannah, Sam
Fire: Sapnap, Punz, Velvet
Air: Bad, Syvee, Ant
Idk why but I feel like Skeppy would be a nonbender.. anyway most of these are just vibes (can you imagine bloodbender george?? also punz would be able to pend lightning).
As for characters, this one was harder and I especially apologize for the ccs who I don't watch as much as others..
Dream: Katara (I can explain this more if ppl want)
George: Azula. Listen, they're both serving cunt, okay??
Sapnap: Toph, I think.. maybe..
Bad: Iroh <33
Skeppy: Momo
Sam: Haru?
Punz: Sokka? Maybe?
Hannah: Suki!!
Sylvee: Ty Lee <- you cannot argue against me this is the only correct answer
anyway I can't think of who Puffy, Ant, and Velvet would be I've been pondering it for so long with no progress </3 also didn't end up being able to assign Aang nor Zuko to anyone
#maybe this makes sense#or maybe it's incomprehensible to anyone but me#who knows#mostly based on vibes tbh#stella answers#🌿 anon
