It surprises me that people are still saying "my opinion is that the pale king loved his children and regretted what he did" because surely that's the entire point! THAT'S the idea instilled! The final secret of the king is hidden after the path of pain, the most difficult to access place in the palace, because it is the single most important and most shameful to him! And that secret final memory is epitomised with a glance between the father and child; it's the love of one's offspring, it's expectation, it's the desire to do what the father wishes - it's a connection! I also sometimes see 'so why did the pale king die' when I think thematically, it does not matter what specifically caused the death of the king, simply that having failed so utterly, he sealed himself away and wasted away purposefully alone in this throne room, having committed such atrocity on his offspring and still having failed to save the kingdom he created; that's sort of the point of the tragedy of the idea instilled. everything fell apart not despite his best attempts, but because of them... the death of the pale king is without doubt meant to thematically be a suicide after a tragedy of his own design

And of course I also had to attempt a big bushy beard, and well, the sultan is right there:

I ran out of patience when trying to freehand things but this pencil mustache actually doesn't look as bad as I thought?

a month ago i said i would yell about misogyny and patriarchal themes in fanfiction and eventually i will but there are so many thoughts and feelings in my head that it will take me forever to type it down. But i will say this

Be critical of the things you read. i’m not saying you CANT read for enjoyment—you CAN and SHOULD read for fun. But i’m saying that sometimes you should take notice of the themes in writing and think “wow, i wonder why that’s written like that. Is this harmful or is this helpful?”

it’s a given that fanfiction is widely heteronormative because society and media blah blah blah We know all of this … but in my opinion i think it’s important to think about why women in hetero fics are portrayed the way they are sometimes. I think reader insert fics have gone a long way in being more inclusive and less harmful than they were years ago BUT. Do not let that stop you from recognizing themes in the works you read right now

like; Why are misogyny-affected people written a certain way?? Why are there often degrading themes in a lot of tropes and fics regarding women?? Why are there certain roles that misogyny affected people are expected to fulfill even in fiction?? why are women often the “default” for fics with male characters?? think about any of these questions for like longer than two minutes, read a bad fic, and you will probably see where i’m coming from

What do we think of Gabriel pony with a ouroboros esc cutie mark symbolizing his obsession with revenge only ends up destroying him further and the sort of he keeps being remade. the cycle of like rebirth but it's just him not staying dead/being brought back fueled by the thing that keeps getting him killed

It strange, whenever I see people complaining about Rise’s Dango system its never about the actual mechanics but how it a visual downgrade from Worlds massive food platters.

Which its true don’t get me wrong. But I wish people would actually talk about how it’s one of the most unique monhun food systems mechanically. Allowing for a lot more skills experimentation rather than just choosing the one that gives you the most numbers. It’s also just consistent, sure you’re not guarantied to get each skill unless you use a voucher (which are stupidly easy to get), but you know which skills you chose and there percent chance of activating them.

And then also how these changes (deprioritising base line stat increases for more focus on skills) were to make room for the Spiribird system. A system which is more hassle than it’s worth, takes away from the hunt, and is just generally a chore.
