damn kids, I've really been questioning my gender recently. Like... sometimes I wish I was a man-- but like, a very androgynous, femme man. Not really interested as being seen as a butch woman, and I've given that plenty of thought over the years as one of my close friends is a butch lesbian.
This is a weird feeling to admit to, because I thought I was pretty much done thinking about my gender and sexuality at my big age.
Overall, I wish my body shape lent itself to seeming more androgynous. I feel like my relationship with my body was fine until I hit puberty, and I've strongly disliked it ever since. I don't think I'd mind presenting as a woman so much if I were taller or skinny because it would perhaps lend itself to androgyny more than the hourglass stereotype. I've always envied, for example, women who cosplay as male characters. I don't think I can pull it off! At the same time, I have zero desire to be a 'guy's guy.' I've called myself nonbinary for a while, or I guess I'm genderfluid or genderqueer? I'll be honest, I'm not so familiar with the nuances of terminology in this case and infighting over labels in other areas of queer community (an unbelievably stupid thing to fight over imo) has me leery.
And then there's the thing slightly ironic thing where I'm hormonally intersex but stereotypically female-presenting in body type and fat distribution. I'm convinced that if I lost weight, I might appear more androgynous.
Also, I lurked on some transmasc forums and learned that more testosterone might actually help my intersex condition. Fucking crazy to learn that. If only I'd been born in a world with parents who didn't just decide that I should be a woman! I'm going to make myself sad here... but the truth is, most intersex conditions are 'corrected' by tossing the intersex person to whichever end of the gender binary they seem closer to. But let's not talk about my forced feminization, lol.
Yes, I kind of wish sometimes that I'd been born with male body parts and had gone through life that way. (Somehow, it seems easier to be androgynous as an amab person rather than an afab person. Perhaps that's a grievous misconception, if so, give me a little grace...) I also remember being envious of boys as a little kid. I do think it would have been a huge struggle in other areas though; I left the cult I was raised in partly because of how I was treated due to my assigned gender, and while I wish to believe that I always would have left no matter what, it may have been much a slower process without the catalyst of being woman-presenting in a hierarchical, violently sexist environment. And who knows, maybe I would have more deeply repressed my femininity and queer identity in a male body...
Anyways. Just something I've been thinking about a bit. I've mentioned it once to my best friend, and when meeting up with new queer folks I tend to use Max as my name instead of my more gendered birth name, but I'm not really in a place to be public about it until I'm more sure how I feel. This is honestly the first time I've put it to words at all.
Here's the other thing. I have no desire to put my body in the wringer especially with things like surgery, but I do want other people to see me as myself and not as a woman. I worry especially that without some form of external self-transformation, I will always be seen as a busty cis woman who's just quirky. Ugh.

I am genuinely so worried for all the young horny dykes going into adulthood thinking there's something "problematic" / "wrong" with them for being horny because fucking tiktok lesbians think any horny dyke content is "male gaze fetishistic"

You know what? Let’s talk about this, because as a medical student and as a fan of multiple sports in which athletes get head injuries, I have quite a bit to say.
Tumblr media
First of all, using anyone’s health issues as a “gotcha” is not making the point you think it is. From everything I know about Lewis Hamilton in years and years of following the sport, he would be ashamed to see one of his fans trying to make such a ridiculous and frankly apathetic argument.
Professional sports have a long history of letting athletes’ health fall by the wayside in pursuit of wins — blaming the people suffering health issues really is not the way to go about fixing a systemic problem that extends beyond Formula 1.
Blame Formula 1 and the FIA for not having stringent concussion protocols in place. Blame Red Bull and the medical personnel for not being as through as they probably should have. But do not blame Max Verstappen who was very much the victim in this.
I really hope that one day all fans (and especially fans with huge social media platforms) can learn to be more empathetic and remember that all drivers are people too.

I'm sorry but the irony of Nico calling Max unprofessional is sending me so bad like sir there's an entire garage full of people, who were literally in the trenches trying to survive the Brocedes fallout while just doing their jobs, who might have a few things to say about your (& Lewis') level of professionalism at that time 😭✋️
#f1#formula 1#formula one#max verstappen#nico rosberg#lewis hamilton#brocedes#like niki lauda had to try multiple times to literally parent trap them to try and get them on speaking terms it never worked#because one would arrive they'd see the other and the other would leave#& if i remember correctly the garage crew would swap around from race to race as a like see we aren't favouring anybody gesture 😭#and thats no shade to nico because it was both of them contributing to that environment#his comment re max is just making me laugh#like if i was a part of the pr/media team - which is a part of the degree I'm working on irl - at merc that year i would've lost the plot#like its insane reflecting on it nearly a decade later but the poor souls just trying to do their job in the eye of that storm#truly gods strongest soldiers#ngl the professional comment irks me a bit because its not like max is engaging in inappropriate work place behaviour#he's engaging in another aspect of racing that his involvement raises awareness of & that makes racing more accessible#& we all know how inaccessible not only getting into racing is but also to continue to pursue the further along you go#theres so many stories of 1 sibling giving up racing so the other can keep going because the family can't afford for them both to race#its a huge financial strain & we only see a handful of drivers talk about that & try to do something to change it#and nicos fellow sky sports commentators are routinely unprofessional on so many levels#additionally max had a lot of valid reasons to be annoyed at his team today#but alas he's not english so he's ungrateful#i hate that drivers can't criticise their teams or car without immediately being branded as bratty & ungrateful#ESPECIALLY WHEN THEIR JOB IS TO GIVE FEEDBACK#you can see the double standards from sky when say Lando or George have complaints with their team/car v the likes of Max and Yuki#especially Yuki my god the things i would do to get the British media to leave him alone#this was a jokey post at one point and then became a rant whoops lmao#I'll leave it that before i write an actual essay here 😭✋️

one thing i see often about movie cherik specifically is people assuming erik is staunchly anti-telepathy but this is simply not true. there are multiple times when erik tells charles to stay out of his head, yes, but these are all moments when he is exceptionally angry. we know erik likes that charles thinks there’s good in him, and we also know he disagrees. he tells charles to stay out when he believes his anger will make charles see his true nature.
but there are also moments where he welcomes charles inside his mind. when they train in first class, charles asks “may i” and wiggles his fingers, and erik agrees without hesitation despite having no idea what charles plans to do. he trusts him. multiple times throughout the prequel movies, when he is without his helmet, he brings up the fact that charles could make him do whatever he wishes. he is joking, but the fact that he can joke about it at all shows just how deeply he trusts him. he never shows disgust or mistrust towards charles ability- in fact his whole fight is that no one should have to hide their mutation
even when he puts the helmet on the first time, he says “sorry charles, it’s not that i don’t trust you” he simply knows that he is disappointing him- knows that without the helmet, charles would be able to stop him, but also knows he wouldn’t, and is therefore saving them both from the what ifs when he chooses to wear it
tldr; erik never actually had a problem with charles inside his head! and it drives me crazy when that’s the whole basis of fics even though erik trusts charles more than he has ever trusted anyone else from the very moment they meet

Can I have that shoulder size rant as well, whenever you feel up to it
Okay, hi, hello, I've finally gotten around to this, and this spiral isn't nearly as insane as the hands spiral, but it is a spiral nonetheless
Once again, possibly research bias, possibly delusion, but you can't say you don't see it in these pictures, even with the suits you can see Charles' shoulders are just a tiny bit wider:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And okay, let's keep in mind that they're extreme sports athletes, their bodies are changing all the time, but listen: Charles' biceps? Amazing. Charles' biceps compared to Max's? Absolutely useless, look at this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But shoulders???
Lie to me and tell me you don't see this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idk, I feel like Max is just all tits and biceps and his shoulders are just kind of there.
Charles' shoulders are a little more than just there...
Like listen, I don't think we talk enough about Charles' shoulder to waist ratio, guys, this man is triangular
He's the shape of a dorito
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just look at them, Max is all pecs and biceps, and Charles obviously has a great everything, he looks like he lives at the gym, but he's all shoulders
Like not to be dramatic here, but Max is just so Venus de Milo where Charles is just straight up Atlas, like not to spiral into poetry, but he could carry the world on those shoulders (aka his world aka max)
And okay, maybe I'm seeing things, maybe I'm making shit up to suit the image of them I have created in my head, but every time someone raises an eyebrow at me saying Charles could easily pick Max up istg you have not looked at him
Tumblr media
There's just this idea of them that we've created as a fandom where Max is so much bigger and stronger than Charles as part of that normal bottom Charles agenda, which is totally fine of course, let's not yuck anyone's yum, but I feel like we forget that he actually isn't that much smaller
Like according to google for this year's stats, Max's current numbers are 1.81m/5' 11'' height and 72kg/158lb weight
Charles' are 1.80m/5' 10'' height and 69kg/152lb weight
All Max has got on him is 1 centimetre and 3kgs. That's a height difference the width of my pinkie finger and a weight difference less than that of a six pack of soda cans. That's actually nothing.

I'm so tired, I'm so so tired.
Watching TV shows has become the most tiring thing in this dystopian, late-stage capitalistic hellscape.
It doesn't matter how much we love those shows, how much we talk about them, how much we promote it online. Big streaming services will just cancel them on a Friday night and then let them slowly fall into oblivion. If by SOME MIRACLE the show doesn't get cancelled after the first season, it'll just decline over the years, some crazy writer will cook up a poorly written plot, or they'll just lose interest in the project and then leave the fans in the trenches.
Big corporate streaming services just think that views are gonna materialize out of thin air??? They barely promote their new shows and they DEMAND high views just to let them keep going? It's THEIR JOB to promote shows, but obviously they couldn't care less, they only care about money, and they leave the promoting job to the fans which is batshit insane if you ask me.
Streaming services were supposed to be the solution, the chosen one if you will, but they turned out to be the villains.
Owning a movie or a show is now absolutely impossible because God forbid they release DVDs anymore. Streaming services will just randomly DELETE their cancelled shows and movies from their platforms. Fans are now supposed to be PR teams for Netflix, HBO, Prime and whatever other stupid streaming apps out there because they couldn't be bothered to,,, idk,,, do their job and promote their own shows!? They're literally acting like villains.
It feels dystopic really.
I know I probably sound like a person yelling at a cloud but it's starting to become exhausting.
And I know that there are far worse things out there, that there are more important matters to focus on, but I'm so tired.
They're killing art. There are so many people out there that put all their love and all their passion and skills into creating amazing shows that SO MANY other people love and they feel represented by, but they don't care.
This is literally my last straw.
They're killing art with their greed.

I think the thing about Max and Daniel is the fact that Daniel is the exact opposite of what Max was used to in life. Max grew up with Jos, a man who would constantly belittle him and make him seem less than what he actually is. Then comes Daniel Ricciardo, a man who's confident in himself and always laughing. A man who did so many things to make Max laugh. Daniel never really thinks about what other people think of him, he's like a bird that just spreads his wings and let's the wind direct him.
And that's what Max needed at that point in his life. Max was like a parrot locked in a cage, repeating the insults his father said, to himself. People would constantly say Max couldn't achieve anything and redbull was making a mistake, but Daniel didn't. He saw what Max was and what Max will be. He made Max happier and free. Imagine if Max and Daniel never met bro.

Max Jagerman is easily Starkid's best villain of all time. He has the charisma of Aladdin, the sheer insanity of Sweet Tooth, and the genuine horror of Wiggly. The fact that he came for Richie and Ruth (as well as beat up Peter) right when they were starting to feel happy and accepted is emblematic of the worst parts of bullying, being people tearing you down for their own amusement after you've started to feel confident about yourself. And even in these scenes and the general heartbreak of knowing that all this could have been avoided in so many ways, he's absolutely hilarious and completely insane. He's like if you took an average fraternity pledgemaster and made him funny.

I’ll preface this by saying no drivers should ever receive death threats or wish for them to crash and so on. You won’t ever catch me saying this to anyone (not that I ever post about f1 on Instagram or X anyway).
But on the other hand, it is a little bit funny to me seeing campaigns of how dare you hate on Lando and send him death threats! on tumblr of all the places, as if the people here were the exact same ones that were on instagram. If you want to spread awareness about that fact, do it on the appropriate platform. You shouldn’t clog drivers’ tags with it, even more if you turned a blind eye when anybody else received hate and started to advocate only when it concerns you.
That being said, if you don’t want to see posts hating or even just criticizing your driver, you should stay away from the anti tag that belongs to them.
I personally think it’s silly to have the stance “let’s not hate on any driver okay??” because that’s just not how reality works. You will feel emotions toward people and how they’re acting, good or bad. Sometimes you will vent, and maybe some other people will share the same opinion. As long as it’s kept in the appropriate space, where is the problem? I don’t want to see Max or Lewis’ hate so I have the anti tags of theirs blocked for example, it’s as simple as that.
I’m also tired to see people saying Lando is only hated because he’s challenging Max or because it’s a popular thing. Sure there are opportunists, just like in every place. But let’s not act as if Lando hadn’t been overprotected by a part of the fandom with the image of being an absolute manchild and baby that could do nothing wrong, with the excuse of British humor and the fact he’s advocating for mental health as a shield.
I say that from the bottom of my heart, I used to really like Lando. Seeing him have his first win was wow, crazy and emotional. But the way he also has behaved this year just reinforced remarks and attitude of his that never sat well with me even in the past. Maybe we should question his PR for letting him self-sabotage and say things that he shouldn’t, but nonetheless it won’t change that he has said and done things that made him appear as childish, entitled, and sometimes insufferable.
That post wasn’t supposed to be so long, but maybe we should make a list of all the times he lacked respect or said/done things about the other F1 drivers this year so that no one can come up with the idea that if we dislike him it’s only because it’s popular. Using this excuse really feels like denial from some people that don’t want to see why his behavior may have irked a part of the fandom.

i love that every weekend, f1 does something fans hate, max speaks out against it candidly and loudly, and all his haters are like can’t believe i’m agreeing with him but—”. Like hate him all you want in general, idgaf, but surely you’ve reached a point where you can recognize that max just wants quality racing at interesting, competitive tracks with passionate fans who care about the sport more than the elitist performative celebrity showy bullshit around it. max loves f1 and wants it to be the best version of itself, and i don’t get how people still act shocked that they agree with him when it happens week after week. he’s probably the loudest and most consistent advocate for what most fans want races to be.
