Dating Matt Taylor Headcanons

He's super shy, but behind closed doors or around close friends he can be super affectionate and massive shows of PDA

Tries to act kinda macho but quickly realizes he doesn't have to, so he tones it way down

You are the only person allowed to wear his jacket. If one of the other girls are cold? Absolutely not. One of the other guys has to give up their coat.

But if you look even the slightest bit cold he's shrugging it off his shoulders and tucking it around you before you ever say a word

He loves spoiling you, but in a nonchalant way

Such as

"Oh by the way, I saw this at the store and remembered you said something about wanting it." as he puts down a dress (or whatever you want) you didn't buy because it was so beyond expensive

"Matt, baby, you have to take this back this is too much!"

Or paying before you even have a chance to reach for your wallet

Piggyback rides are one of his favorite subtle ways too

"We've been walking for a couple blocks, and I know those shoes have to be hurting you, want to hitch a ride for a bit?"

One of his greatest talents is the way he can calm you down

Depending on what's going on with you he can either make you laugh or tell you how he feels

If you're down about yourself?

He tells you exactly how beautiful you are, how much he adores everything about you and how much he admires you

He even tells you he thinks he doesn't deserve you

His tension breaking skills are legendary

He's made you laugh during slightly inappropriate situations, but it helped you in the moment

Loves when you come to his games, like his own little private cheerleader

The first time you stole his jersey he melted into a little Matt puddle on the floor

It became his lockscreen for his phone within minutes

Wakes up before you everytime just out of habit, but won't move a muscle until you wake up. Even if he has to pee or something he'll wait.

No matter how chill he portrays himself as, he can be a cheesy lil guy

Like letting you call him Matty, he doesn't care if he gets made fun of by his friends, he loves hearing you say it

However in the mornings, when you wake up, bedhead and all, it's Sunshine because it's funny to him

Making sure you're comfortable in a situation is very very important to him

He understands, he's been stuck in the circle of peer pressure a few times, so even if he won't stand up for himself, he'll stand up for you in a heartbeat

You're both at one of Josh's parties and need a break? He'll take you out on a walk until you're feeling better or you'll just both head to one of the rooms and chill out

Someone comes up with a stupid idea that you don't want to do and they're pressuring you?

He's putting you behind him and making it very clear to the other to leave you alone

However, if that upsets you, he'll just leave with you. You come first to him. Doesn't matter if he's having fun.

In the game, they said he wasn't "the sharpest tool in the shed", so he loves studying with you, you explain things in a way he can understand better and it really helps him

Yall know his little cheeky side smile?

Anytime he uses some sort of cheesy pick up line on you, that's the smile that comes out, and his cheeks darken a bit

I fully believe this man is a big spoon all the way, never the little spoon

However, his other favorite form of cuddling his laying between your legs with his head on your chest, especially when he's tired from practice or college classes

Always has his arm around your shoulders/waist or holds your hand

It grounds him, and he just likes being close to you

Also very big on chivalry

He'll get out of the car and basically dive over the hood so he can open the door for you

Another big thing is your health oddly enough

"Babe...you know how much I love you and want you to be happy, but energy drinks are NOT water, and will not hydrate you." "No but it's a liquid." The man is stressed

Would definitely get one of those giant water bottles that encourages you to drink your water

And keeps foods/snacks he knows you like in his kitchen

"I'm pretty hungry, I could definitely go for some (insert favorite food) right now, how about you baby?"

"Matty I know your tricks...but yea...I could eat."

He just wants you to be healthy <3

Body language is something he's always watching too, even if you're acting fine he'll know how you're actually feeling just based on that and act accordingly

He tries his hardest to do date night at least once a week but sometimes it's just you two ordering take out and chilling on the couch

Please reassure him 🥺 he tries to hide it but he gets a lil insecure that he's not being a good partner, especially when he gets busy and can't be around all the time

The first time he said he loved you, it came out of nowhere. You came to one of his games with his friends to cheer him on

When the game was won, you ran into his arms like he had just won the superbowl

As he held you up, still covered in sweat and still in his uniform, that cheeky smile appeared under his helmet guard

Silly Little Headcannons Pt.2

Mike HATES any form of spice (Josh has to make no flavor food just for him)

Emily owns 10 different fur coats (for 10 different occasions)

Matt wanted to a doctor growing up (even had a little coat and play doctor stuff-Mike was always the patient)

Sam calls Hannah sweetie if she’s doing something dumb

Ashley has lost almost every board game she has ever played (minus game of life)

Josh is a horrible person to play monopoly with

Chris is horrible at keeping secrets (he can only really keep Josh’s-and it’s 50/50)

Hannah steals Josh’s shirts before she does her hair

Beth and Hannah mock Josh whenever they don’t think he’s around (he caught them once)

Hannah loves anything with lace

Jess writes love notes to whoever she has a crush on (Ashley helps with making sure they’re good)

Ashley will only tutor Chris

Jess does Beth’s makeup during sleepovers

Emily and Hannah do on shopping sprees at least 3 times a week (Emily didn’t buy anything from a mall for almost 5 months after the twins disappeared)

Emily has cried to Dumbo/Bambi before (the last time was when she was in 8th grade)

mattheo raised his eyebrows when you opened the door of your dorm and were all dolled up. "are we going somewhere?" he asked surprised, but you shook your head.

"you can sit there!" you had so much energy, you were practically busting through the roof. "and we need to break up for a second, yeah?"

"what?" he laughed surprised, but you just nodded your head and he sighed. "sure, okay, whatever you say"

he sat down and watched as you took out the newest taylor swift album (red) he had gotten you for your birthday. "i should've known this had something to do with her" mattheo sighed before he pu a hand to his chin, thinking "maybe we shouldn't listen to that music anymore"

"excuse me? we?" you laughed sarcastically "we're not together as if now, remember?"

"yeah, yeah" mattheo muttered rolling his eyes. "do whatever you have to so we can make out"

you rolled your eyes as the smirk on his face, before you started the song and loudly started to sing along.

i remember when we broke up the first time saying, "this is it, i′ve had enough"

"this is the first time, we broke up, but whatever" mattheo crossed his arms, jokingly.

'cause like, we hadn′t seen each other in a month when you said you needed space what?

"our rooms are literally twenty meters apart, love and i would never need space from my baby"

you laughed loudly, but still continued singing.

then you come around again and say "baby, i miss you, and i swear i'm gonna change, trust me" remember how that lasted for a day? i say, "i hate you", we break up, you call me, "i love you"

"i thought you liked role-play" he frowned jokingly and you had to laugh once again.

ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh we called it off again last night but ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh this time, i'm telling you, i′m telling you

you took his arm and danced around it, before he raised it and made you turn a few times, while you continued to sing the chorus.

the music got calmer again and the bridge started.

mattheo watched intently how you raised your hand and formed a telephone with your thumb and little finger, before you spoke along to taylor's voice.

pfft, so he calls me up, and he's like, "i still love you" and I′m like, i'm just, i mean, this is exhausting you know, like we are never getting back together like, ever (no!)

mattheo laughed as you raised your voice and loudly started singing the chorus again. he stood up from his place on your bed and started dancing along with you, as he tried your best to sing along to the unknown lyrics.

when the song was finished, both of you fell down on your bed exhausted, heavily breathing.

"so you now approve of taylor now, yeah?" you muttered and mattheo nodded repeatedly.

"have i ever not approved of her? who got you that cd, love?"

you rolled your eyes, but nodded, approvingly, before you added "now we can get back together"

"but babe" mattheo muttered confused "i thought you said we would never ever ever get back together" he started laughing hysterically at the very bad joke and you slapped his chest before you joined in.

in honor of halloween here's a halloween-themed headcanon set for each until dawn character.

samantha giddings.

sam chooses a diy nature-inspired costume like a woodland fairy, using biodegradable glitter and repurposed fabrics. think leaves, twigs, and soft, earthy greens.

she insists on going to a local pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin and spends hours carving designs.

while the others plan for parties, she hosts a low-key gathering with candles, cozy blankets, and homemade pumpkin spice lattes.

loves classic horror but gets super into psychological thrillers. hereditary is her top pick, and she’s the one pointing out foreshadowing before everyone else catches it. josh washington.

josh goes all-out building a haunted maze in his backyard, complete with hidden speakers, fake cobwebs, and scare actors he hires just to freak his friends out.

dresses as something horrifying, like a blood-streaked serial killer. full commitment to fake blood and smudged makeup.

has a camera ready to capture each friend’s reaction when they’re scared out of their minds. keeps a scare montage video just for fun.

he's surprisingly good at carving pumpkins, but his designs are intricate horror scenes, almost like horror movie posters in pumpkin form.

ends halloween by watching obscure, disturbing horror movies that leave everyone else uncomfortable. mike munroe.

shows up dressed as a suave vampire or some other classic monster, aiming to look cool and a little dangerous.

takes his friends to a haunted corn maze and enjoys it way more than he lets on, constantly teasing the jump-scare actors and testing his bravery.

organizes a frat party bonfire in the woods with s’mores and ghost stories. he’s the one lighting sparklers and throwing on extra wood to make the flames bigger, he drinks to much and forgets he's the host of the party.

pulls classic halloween pranks, from fake spider webs to jumping out of dark corners. the type to keep a scary mask in his bag just to mess with people.

after a few drinks, he’s belting out rocky horror picture show songs around the bonfire with zero shame.

jessica’s costume is elaborate, trendy, and slightly dark, like a glamorous vampire or a witch in haute couture. she’s all about looking spooky-chic, she went shopping early for the best costume.

stays in to watch mean girls with a couple of her girl friends referencing every qoute.

spends half of halloween snapping aesthetic photos of her outfit, snacks, and décor, making everything look flawless.

gets her halloween nails done a week before and flaunts them on her social media platforms.

he’s the guy bringing pumpkin spice lattes and fall-flavored treats for everyone, unapologetically embracing the season.

suggests doing a couples costume with emily, probably as a famous horror duo. secretly excited about how they’ll look in photos together.

convinces emily(and maybe the whole group) to go on a haunted hayride, keeping a brave face while sneaking glances to see if she’s scared.

volunteers to help with halloween décor, placing spider webs and fake spiders around. he’s got a collection of led bats and ghost lights.

emily davis.

dresses as a chic witch, complete with a designer hat, intricate lace gloves, and knee-high boots. halloween is just another reason to look flawless.

sets up a dark, enchanted photo booth with crystal balls, black roses, and velvet. her instagram feed is a whole halloween masterpiece.

makes sure to get billions of stunning couples photos with matt, each one more perfect than the last. their matching costumes and chemistry are on point, making everyone else a bit envious (and they know it).

emily hosts a halloween themed sleep over with velvet pillows, and black satin sheets for an ultra-cozy but gothic sleepover vibe. the girls chat and laugh till they fall asleep, each secretly keeping one eye open.

chris hartley.

dresses as a ghostbuster or some iconic horror nerd costume, complete with all the gadgets. he’s fully committed to the nostalgia factor.

brings his gear and talks about doing a "ghost hunt." sets up his phone to record “paranormal” activity around the bonfire.

insists on watching horror classics with everyone, pausing every now and then to geek out about the movie effects or the backstory.

after everyone else goes to bed, chris and ashley stay up playing with the ouija board, half-joking but also half-believing they might make contact. they end up spooking themselves and get so scared swearing to never use it again.

ashley brown.

dresses as a character from classic gothic literature, like mina harker from dracula, complete with vintage lace and dark, dramatic makeup.

she knits little ghost ornaments and diys her own creepy decor, like mason jars filled with “witch’s brew” and spiderweb doilies.

loves telling ghost stories, candle in hand, with just the right amount of dramatic pauses and eerie expressions.

ashley, catching her breath and laughing nervously, gives chris a playful whack on the arm for scaring her so bad. “not cool, chris!” she says, but she’s grinning as he pulls off the mask, clearly proud of his successful prank.

insists on having a stash of halloween candy just for herself. she’s all about chocolate, especially reese’s and kit kats, and jokingly guards her stash from the others, even hiding a few extras in her bag.

hannah and beth washington.

hannah and beth take turns posing in different eerie setups around the cabin, snapping dramatic photos of each other in candlelight, near fog machines, and with props like antique lanterns. they especially love capturing a few shots that look like something out of an old haunted portrait.

both love the idea of exploring the mountain at night, so they plan a late-night “ghost hunt” under the full moon. they bring flashlights and spooky stories to tell along the way, daring each other to walk just a little bit farther into the woods.

beth and hannah sneak into the room with a giant rubber spider and place it right on josh’s chest. when he stirs and opens his eyes to find it staring back at him, he lets out a yell that has the girls stifling laughter from behind the door.

they have a slight obsession with candy corn and will spend halloween night indulging in it, trading their favorite types of candy and making candy corn-themed treats, like popcorn balls or cupcakes.

The Until Dawn cast and Mario Kart Wii... I pondered very long and very hard about this question... and return bearing real and true answers (headcanons and rambles ⬇️)

Beth: Insane MKWii goddess. Grew up on the game and played constantly. Put lots of time into learning a handful of ultra shortcuts and sometimes pisses everybody off by using these just for fun. The group can count on one hand the amount of times she hasn't gotten 1st. Can efficiently use any controller, but prefers the Wii classic controller. Put crazy time trials on every single track that remain unbeaten to this day. Not that Josh would ever beat them even if he could. She'll always be remembered through the ghosts she left. Josh has thought about booting the game up just to drive around with her again but... hasn't

Hannah: Prefers coin runners to racing. Peach main as soon as Beth became a Daisy main (matchies) chose the prettiest vehicle and is sticking with it <3 didn't play nearly as much as her siblings but did spend many hours watching both Beth and Josh grind glitches/time trials and stars. Wii wheel user!

Josh: Really good at this game. He can get fiercely competitive too, depending on who else is playing. Otherwise he's chill. Played almost as much as Beth did- and spent hours and hours trying to get stars on every cup to unlock Dry Bowser. He refused any help from Beth and celebrated for a week when he finally did it. Prefers how Jr feels to play and breaks him out when he's feeling particularly competitive but otherwise sticks to Dry Bowser because he's not letting that effort go to waste. Changes controller based on who he's racing, to "make it easier for you". Prefers the GameCube controller

Sam: Rarely ever places below 4th. She also grew up on this game through the Washingtons and has lots of fond memories spending sleepovers with it and the siblings. She's very humble, and doesn't usually say anything when getting 1st. She grins though (Josh loves that grin). Always down for battle mode! Plays with the Wii remote + nunchuck

Chris: Winning the custody battle over Rosalina with Emily. Usually when Em is also playing he doesn't get first dibs. So he goes Waluigi and mimics him every time he has a voice line. Funny at first but now it drives everyone (except Josh who joins in) insane. More and more often Em lets him have Rosalina just to spare herself from the constant Waluigi impressions. He's either really good or really bad depending on the tracks and typical MKWii luck. Goes for super fast vehicles with like no other good stats and either flies through courses and has super easy victories or has the worst time and comes dead last. Uses the GameCube controller

Ashley: Bad luck magnet. Hit by every shell. Trips on every banana. Once she used a bullet while over a gap and it just carried her into the abyss instead of saving her. She hasn't let this go and it happened 2 years ago. Vibes with Toadette and chooses her in any game she's an option. Also prefers coin runners and is usually content to just watch the others play. Another Wii wheel user!

Emily: Losing the custody battle over Rosalina with Chris. Goes with Birdo as an alternative. Is arguably even better when playing her. She was immediately amazing the first time she played. Gets really really competitive and Beth and Josh love the challenge and the intensity that comes with Emily's gloating and high confidence. Doesn't play the game outside of when at the Washington's but knows a good few shortcuts and tricks because she spent hours looking into it when she got home to ensure victory in the future. Plays with the Wii classic controller

Matt: Likes balloon battle and always pushes for team racing. Pretty average player. His character/kart combo is so light that he often gets bumped onto the off-road and pits, but he refuses to change. That's just a little guy right there in his little car! Something Matt appreciates. Really really insane on Rainbow Road for some reason. While being a Wii wheel user! Beth and Josh don't get how that's possible and hype him up every time

Mike: (Unknowingly at first) uses the best character/kart combo. Still gets 6th or lower 74% of the time. Always really cocky for some reason. Uses the plain Wii remote without the wheel (where is your whimsy, Michael?)

Jess: She got 1st once and brings this up any time anyone makes fun of her for hitting every possible obstacle. Still usually does better than Mike and is super vocal while playing, commenting on everything that happens. Wii remote + nunchuck

they have a "douchebag jar" and whenever one of the boys acts like a douchebag they have to put a dollar in the jar. the girls use it to buy stuff on their wishlist. josh and mike have put the most money in it

What would be every UD characters love language? Like, the type they like that their partner do and what they do to their partner?

Ohhh, I really like this one, and I have thought of it before. These are just personal opinions, but I'll try to explain some of them. This also features Hannah and Beth!

Matt: I definitely think Matt’s love language is words of affirmation. He seems like the guy who’s secretly very insecure, and therefore needs the extra reassurance. Tell him how you feel about him by saying how you love his kindness and generosity, he’ll melt like putty in your arms. This guy will get so incredibly flustered if you give him a genuine compliment.��

Mike: I think many people believe that his love language is touch, but I don’t agree. I believe it’s acts of service. He’ll do small things here and there. Get you a drink or  food when you didn’t even ask, carry you up the mountain if you’re tired, and drape a blanket over you when you sleep. He loves doing things, feeling useful and wanted. If he just gets over his commitment issues, he’ll do every small or big thing for you. 

Josh: I feel like this one is kinda obvious, but I definitely think touch is his love language. I’m not just talking about being sexually intimate, but also the small touches. Holding hands, carrying you, resting his arm somewhere on you at all times. It grounds him, reminding him that you’re real and not a figment of his imagination. This also applies to small pecks and kisses throughout the day. 

Chris: I find this one very difficult, and want to say both quality time and touch (always the small ones), but I settled on acts of service for this man too. He loves doing things for you, again, feeling useful and needed. He gets reassurance that you need him when he does these things for you. He always makes you a cup of tea, and loves to help you with different chores throughout the day. 

Sam: This one was quite obvious (I think), but I settled quickly on quality time. She wants to do stuff with you all the time, and often physical activities like hiking and climbing. That’s not to say that she likes the less physical activities as well, such as cooking dinner together or watching a movie together. When you’re apart, she’s always eager to send you pictures of what she’s doing and telling you how she wishes you were with her. 

Ashley: I’m a bit stumped on this, but I think it’s physical touch. Holding hands, cuddling and kissing is the way to her heart. She likes when you two do different things together, like reading separate books while entangled on the couch. She likes going hand in hand on late night walks and is definitely a hugger at heart. 

Emily: This one is gift-giving. She loves giving them, as well as getting them. She gifts from the heart, remembering that one time weeks ago when you said you liked a necklace. She adores when she gets the classic romantics like flowers, chocolates and teddy bears. I promise you that she also bought matching bracelets with your names engraved with them. Even better, they go with absolutely everything. 

Jess: I stand firm on this one, and that is words of affirmation. She has always felt like a piece of ass, like an object or just something beautiful for the eyes. She needs to feel like she’s more than that, that you love all her other sides, including her personality. She would melt if you told her how kind her soul is, how passionate and loving you find her. 

Hannah: She also loves gift-giving. It’s never necessarily things bought, but rather small projects and crafts. She gives small loving notes, occasionally writes a poem, telling you how you light up the darkness etc. She also loves getting small gifts like hand-picked flowers and a cute notebook. She’ll display the book on the bookshelf and dry the flowers to make a forever bouquet or small trinkets. 

Beth: This woman is an acts of service person. She’ll drape the blanket over you when you sleep, help you with your eyeliner and give you one of her sweaters when you’re cold. She loves prepping breakfast, making snacks for a movie night and surprising you with a picnic date.

i know for a fact that ash, josh, matt and sam are the safest drivers in the group. chris is a distracted driver unless he's alone in the car. speed limits are optional to mike. em routinely cuts people off. jess is a passenger princess and drives like a maniac if she's behind the wheel. beth is the queen of rolling stops and road rage. hannah never bothered to get her license because she's kinda scared of driving and she can always ask josh or sam for a lift.

Until Dawn headcanons based on the PlayStation 3 beta version, part 1

-Hannah and Beth once both cut their hair extremely short at the same time to match

-Jess wants to get a back tattoo

-Sam used to be more bubbly/ditsy when she was younger

-Chris isn't very well-versed in religion despite growing up religiously

-Sam used to be better friends with Jess/or thought she was cool and wanted to be better friends with her

-Sam doesn't like Emily's treatment of Matt/doesn't really approve of their relationship

-Matt likes to say "you just got Emily'd" when Emily insults someone (lightheartedly)

-Chris runs sometimes when he really doesn't have to

-Hannah had the tendency to be very competitive with Beth, who was often better at things than she was

-Chris can sometimes have short-term memory

-Sam actually used to be afraid of animals as a kid, but then grew to love them

-Mike used to have longer hair

-Jess's favorite song is "How Lucky We Are" by Meiko; she also likes "Wonderful Life" by Hurts

-Jess is actually really goofy and loves to make people laugh

-Hannah hates wearing her glasses, and although she desperately needs them, she takes them off sometimes because she thinks she looks better without them; Mike actually didn't know she even wore glasses the first few times they hung out

-Josh loved dressing up as horror movie characters for Halloween; his favorite was Jason Vorhees

-Mike can actually be a pretty sensitive guy and cry easily

-Jess's mom is really overprotective of her

— at first he was a bit hesitant but you just kept and kept playing taylor in front of him, and he eventually gave in (never back down never what??!?!?)

— matt’s the type to go on late night drives with you and you’ll put on taylor swift the whole ass trip. he doesn’t mind it that much but sometimes he wants to listen to music he likes. “can we listen to something else?” “just after this song, i promise!!” (proceeds to listen to 10 more songs)

— you had to explain the whole ‘taylor’s version’ thing to him with a powerpoint and he sat down and took notes in his phone so he wouldn’t forget!! that’s when you knew, he was the one.

— sometimes he’s concerned that you might love taylor more than him. like you’re actually so obsessed with her that he thinks you’d leave him for taylor if you could (which you’d actually maybe do… JKJK!!)

— every time a new taylor album comes out he literally cannot contact you whatsoever, you’re too busy crying your heart out. so he has to be next to you holding a box of tissues. “y/n… it’s just an album-” you give him a death stare before he shuts up.

— when matt thinks you’re feeling down or a bit sad, he pulls out his phone and plays taylor, knowing it’ll comfort you instantly.

— of course he got you two eras tour tickets!!!! you dressed matt up in a champagne bottle costume (referencing champagne problems!!) that covered him entirely head to toe so he was unrecognisable from his fans. “babe what if i need to go to the toilet??”

After Until Dawn, everyone found out that Josh has a will (and they’re all in it since Josh forgot to remove them after the prank but Sam and Chris got the most)

Ashley- uses it to publish her books and invest in things

Chris- doesn’t touch it and puts all of Josh’s things in storage (he got everything important to Josh)

Emily- uses it to start her own magazine (she tries to include something to remind her of the Washingtons in it)

Jess- doesn’t touch it (considered using it to get plastic surgery but genuinely didn’t want to)

Mike- keeps it but doesn’t know what to do with it (he ended up getting his masters with it)

Matt- uses it to go to college (he goes to Josh’s grave and thank him for it)

DATING MATT TAYLOR WOULD INCLUDE...

Special treatment all the time every time, if there is one thing Matt's good at is treating his partner as if they're royalty, he'll do anything for you and always puts your feelings first before anything else.

He's always helping out with little things, if you are too short to reach the top shelf, Matt can lend you his helping hand. If you need to rant, he listens and is patient with you, even if he doesn't understand a lot of what's got you so upset.

Date nights aren't special occasions for him, what's the point when he can make every night date night. He'll bring snacks over and let you choose whatever movie you'll watch, he lets his arm grow dead when you lie on it to get comfy, he doesn't mind when the sheets are stolen from him, if it makes you happy, it makes him happy too.

He may not be the brightest but he's smart enough to know if something or someone is bothering you, he doesn't like to push you to open up, he'd prefer for you to be comfortable enough to come to him. He always seems to know how to make you feel as if everything is going to be alright.

This boy is the definition of protective, someones done something to upset you? He'll be ready to be backup in case a fight breaks out. You've ended up getting a paper cut? Call an ambulance but not for you, he can't find the bandaids.

Studying last minute or cramming for tests, Matt's worst enemy. With you by his side he actually does get some work done before the study notes end up on the floor and neon highlighters are being drawn on his face, locking lips instead of locking in to get those grades up.

His letterman jacket is a signature look for him, he never takes the thing off, but if he even caught the slightest chitter or risen hair coming from you, he's forcing your arms into the sleeves insisting for you to wear it.

Overall, this boy is the greenest flag ever, you were more than happy to be with once he got rid of that god awdul selfie stick.
