Evil Mercuria, I feel, is... very, very angry. The type to try and stay calm at all times but is quick to anger
Now, Kanjira is very much afraid, and stays some time away, but Matilda is a lot more brave (or stubborn), staying by Mercuria's side (while also musing if this is how she feels secretly...)
After it's over, Mercuria is... the only word to describe her after that was "horrified", and even that doesn't do her justice...
She's quick to be hugged. She may or may not cry 🥺
Oh Lord, angst...
Mercuria is probably not a stranger to impotence and closeted emotions, especially because doesn't express it in a normal way. She's more of moving around and dancing to show her emotions, so an "evil" side of herself would be more vocal about her emotions.
I'd say verbally abusive due to her amplified emotions and anger. I wouldn't say she's calm most of the time, in fact, it's quite hard to get to her in this state. Being clumsy in her movements and awkward in the way her body conveys her emotions.
A very expressive face as well, probably scowling a lot but you can see more clearly how some things affect her.
Kanjira's natural easy going and hyperactive nature tends to clash a lot with Mercuria's now easily emotional state to the point where insults and profanities would get thrown around a lot. For both of them, it was best for Kanjira to stay away.
It hurt Kanjira a lot too, some things were stuff Mercuria found cute but now, in this "evil" state, she found it repulsive. Of course it took a big hit for Kanjira but she couldn't let that show and end up affecting Matilda, who was already too busy trying to meditate with Mercuria.
Speaking of Matilda, poor girl is overwhelmed. Her stubborn self tires Mercuria a lot, some harsh words were exchanged but, as much as I hate to say it, Matilda is quite used to them. She had to get her to calm down, to let others alone and try to get her into different activities to ease her mind. Matilda didn't get enough time to comfort Kanjira, much less try to think of herself.
After the days of mental and emotional torture that this was, Mercuria found some time alone to think of everything she did on the week. It was hard to think of Matilda having to endure those words, or Kanjira who couldn't even get close to Mercuria.
She took her time to gather herself and apologize to both, neither were mad at her, just a bit tired and, well, mentally exhausted, but they didn't blame her at all.
It kind of turned into Matilda comforting the two, Kanjira would cry her heart out while hugging the other two and this would also make Mercuria tear up and cry a lot. Someone had to comfort those two. Thankfully, Matilda is quite strong herself, emotionally and physically, so she could get by with two bodies sleeping on top of her.
#reverse 1999#defining sanity#THE ANGST#evil phenomenon series#Listen I'm proficent in dooming your Yuri#but making it hurt and them comfort them is my piece of hell#not heaven bc this is not heavenly#Mercuria is similsr to Vertin as seen before#both may have some deep impotence and hidden emotions within themselves that their “evil” self unleashes#and they're not nice to be around#they would never say those things and be so mean but their emotions are switched#Mercuria feels them stronger in this since she's so in tune with herself and her emotions#Crying after everything she's made them go through is completely normal#and Kanjira is not the strongest especially emotionally#they kind of need time on their own to sort it out#Just Mercuria and Kanjira talking about what happened#Matilda having to carry her two crying gfs around because she's the only one who isn't sobbing

Evaluating pixel art via prints sucks bad, but I'm pretty convinced that this encyclopedia is using an older version of Matilda's portrait. The rightmost part of her hair swirl doesn't quite reach her eyes like in the final, her mouth is a pixel thinner, and there seems to be no shading in the white parts of her clothing. Maybe there's also some different pixels in her eyelashes but the prints are definitely stretched horizontally a bit so i'm not sure.
Either way it's not even the only beta image i've seen in the book, this game truly is something, they must have a whole outdated press kit or something. Like, as of this writing at least, the modern Shining World website uses beta screenshots. It's that bad.
#shining series#shining force 2#sf2 matilda may#shining force 2 encyclopedia#she looks goofier and like she has buck teeth in the beta portrait. i'm not against either of those things#looking now the collar of her clothes has a difference too#i was hesitating at first because back at the pre release posts i was seeing nonexistent differences in everything#how i dream of getting my hands on actual early versions

if you like dead poets society, you may like these!
just for fun: a little list of movies, shows, and books i like that i feel have something in common with dps. hopefully you'll find something you'd like, too!
not in any particular order. just the order that i thought of them in really
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
A Separate Peace
by John Knowles - published 1959
a coming-of-age novel set at an all-boys new england boarding school. follows two boys, Gene and Finny, and their experiences during the summer and winter sessions of 1942. talks a bit about WWII and what role the boys may have to play in that, but it stays pretty focused on the school and the emotions involved during this time in one's life. all the growth and transformation and oddly homoerotic, perhaps very codependent, friendship of a bildungsroman that we love to look for.
one of my personal favorite books, even considering that it was assigned reading. i truly believe many of you would like it and i know for a fact some of you can vouch for me
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
by Stephen Chbosky - published 1999 movie adaptation: dir. Stephen Chbosky - released 2012
follows Charlie and his general struggles of high school and with being, well, a wallflower. from goodreads: "Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that the perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite."
very emotional. that's all! i preferred the movie, but i liked the format of the book being completely in letters that Charlie was writing. they're both good! (if you watch the movie, the english teacher's name is Mr. Anderson. so do with that information what you will...!)
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Matilda
by Roald Dahl - published 1988 movie adaptation: dir. Danny DeVito - released 1996 musical adaptation: dir. Matthew Warchus - released 2022
a young girl with an aptitude for reading discovers she has telekinetic abilities at the same time she begins attending school. unfortunately, the principal is an extremely harsh woman, and none of the students seem to enjoy it there. Matilda uses her courage and newfound powers to change her environment for the better, both at school and in her abrasive home.
such a good movie, a childhood favorite. the musical has a great soundtrack too!
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Good Will Hunting
dir. Gus Van Sant - released 1997
a janitor is recognized as a mathematical genius by an MIT professor, and he goes on an emotional journey to embrace his intellect. starring Robin Williams, our dearly beloved inspiration, as the therapist Will goes to see for much of the film.
i only saw it once and my description is lacking but ooh it hurt...... just trust me on this one
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
A Series of Unfortunate Events
by Lemony Snicket - published 1999-2006 tv series adaptation: aired 2017-2019
JUST HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE okay. it's about a trio of siblings, orphaned, who are shuttled from one parental unit to another while being followed by a man after their immense wealth. they quickly discover they are in the midst of an intellectual conflict in a secret organization. they must rely on only each other, seeing as all the adults around them are wildly incompetent and/or unhelpful. and it is filled to the brim with literary references!!
both versions have really fun and witty narration, and the tv adaptation is extremely faithful. i don't know how else to describe it without going overboard so i'll settle for not descriptive enough! just trust me. yes it is a kids' series and yes it is one of my favorites ever. it's the vibes of it all
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
If We Were Villains
by M.L. Rio - published 2017
about a group of Shakespeare theater students at a very pretentious arts school who find themselves in a very high-tension dynamic following a disaster that occurs after their halloween performance of Macbeth. lots and lots of Shakespeare, lots of dramatics, and the book itself is divided into five acts.
i finished this in about two nights and it was extremely creatively inspiring. it was a bit predictable, but that's not a bad thing. it still had me clutching my pearls and dropping my jaw
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
"The Artist of the Beautiful"
by Nathaniel Hawthorne - published 1844
a romantic era short story about a man who feels utterly trapped by his occupation. he would rather concern himself with the delicate beauty of nature, and he attempts to realize this in his passion project - much to the disdain of the people around him.
a bit of a sneak sorry. i just think it's just in line with neil's whole thing you know. it's a lot of long and flowery sentences but it works really well i promise
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The Breakfast Club
dir. John Hughes - released 1985
the letterboxd synopsis really says it all: "They only met once, but it changed their lives forever. | Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. The disparate group includes rebel John, princess Claire, outcast Allison, brainy Brian and Andrew, the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently – and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same."
i don't have much to add and to be honest! kind of a stretch for this list! but i have faith
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
obviously there are other shows and movies with the dead poets society leads, but i wanted to sort of branch out a bit for the bulk of this list. i will still list the ones i had in mind though
House M.D. (2004-2012) - tv series about genius diagnostician Dr. Gregory House and his team at a hospital in new jersey. Robert Sean Leonard stars as House's best friend and head of oncology Dr. James Wilson. very comedic but also very heartwrenching.
Tape (2001) - three friends meet at a motel room and dredge up and argue over unpleasant events of the past. starring Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard.
Before Sunrise (1995) - from letterboxd: "A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together." Ethan Hawke plays one half of the lead duo.
and yeah there's a LOT more but those are the ones i've seen and sincerely recommend. not to say others aren't good but this is a (very) curated list you see.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
phew that's not as many as i thought i had in my back pocket but it's still pretty good. plus, there's some things i havent read/watched yet that perhaps would have made it but alas! such is life
absolutely add to the list if you'd like!! let's all share our favorite stories
#this is my post i hope you like it#what am i supposed to tag. all of them i guess#dead poets society#dps#a separate peace#the perks of being a wallflower#matilda#good will hunting#a series of unfortunate events#if we were villains#the breakfast club#house md#idk im not tagging the other ones lol.#robin williams#ethan hawke#robert sean leonard

Matilda continues to be incredibly useful anywhere I am sat "at rest" for any length of time and might get caught up in a hyperfixation. I haven't been posting a lot because she and Tribble have been on crate and rotate since August while Tribble's cognitive dysfunction syndrome (doggy dementia) renders her prone to sobbing in agonized sorrow if she's left in any room without company. It's only relatively recently that I've worked out a schedule that seems to be working in terms of when Matilda can be available when I need the support while also giving Tribble time with me.
But it continues to be really helpful to have Matilda act as a physical activator (cued or uncued) and hyperfixation interrupter. She is a more pleasant way of anchoring my brain in the passage of time than any alarm I've ever encountered, because she is aware that the capture of my attention means that I will reward her and the more gently she picks up my attention the more pleased I will be. She offers DPT when someone seems distressed while sitting down, sometimes by force. She settles nicely in an office environment (albeit on my office couch) and she handles strange experiences by freezing, inspecting the situation, and trusting that if possible I will let her tap out.
She walks about a mile a day in a loose heel whenever she is in public (anywhere that she is not inside my office, home, or car) and is increasing in professionalism over squirrels and the ubiquitous wild turkeys around my office. She is getting better at that even when they have the temerity to ignore her, shout at her, chase each other, and make horrible noises. She can handle scary echoey staircases, stairs you can see through, public bathrooms, vending machines, and weird rattly construction equipment she might have to walk over. (There was a temporary ramp on the way to campus for a while, and this winter saw a lot of construction.)
Even the dog reactivity is leveling off with maturity and self control. We are rapidly approaching the point where I'll start thinking about actual public access training without worrying about a very vocal outburst at another dog. I don't actually need her in public so often, but it would be nice to, e.g., run into the Costco pharmacy to get meds on my way home sort of thing without worrying about leaving her in the car. Run small errands. That sort of thing. She does handle stores nicely on the occasions we have tested.
I recently bought a car that my spouse had identified and insisted I come test drive. I made a mistake and locked my keys in my office on my way home to meet spouse before going to the dealership; we pivoted so that they came and picked me up, and we just went to the dealership. Matilda hung out in our car during the five minute test drive, then came out and joined us while hanging out in the dealership while negotiating the price of the car for the next two or three hours on a series of "settles." (She does not care for waiting in public, but she's willing to lie down and settle down with minimal interaction from me for a very long time.)
I may have to go visit Joanns and the Sierra Trading Club and Magus & Quinn booksellers a bit more moving forward. The horror!
Nice job, baby dog. I'm proud of you.

How would a female Mello, matt, and Near be?
absolutely wonderful question, anon, thank you so much. if you've been on my blog for any length of time, it is probably not surprising that i've given this a lot of thought and, putting aside my intricate transgender speculations for the time being, let's gender swap the wammy's creatures, and consider how that could impact their narratives within death note.
note: i will still be referring to all three using he/him pronouns, but this is not intended to be intentionally contrary. feel free to substitute whatever pronouns your heart desires throughout.
♀ mello -> mihaela may be a little bit obvious, haha, but if mihael is a croatian name that means 'who is like god', and we need to retain the letter 'm' for obvious reasons, i think it works well as a feminine alternative name. mello is relatively androgynous as an alias, if not slightly masculine, but i think it is fine given what i'm about to talk about.
mello's canonical gender expression is already nonconformative, so it is interesting to speculate what he would he look like if he were a girl. one of my absolute favourite genderbent depictions of mello is this piece by thekatzone because it still retains mello's visual ambiguity but in the opposite direction. i do think he would dress more masculine as a woman not only because his subversive appearance is a very significant aspect to his character, but also because of how it might relate to his position in the mafia.
mello spends a significant amount of time in the manga and anime in hypermasculine environments despite his presentation, and i think it is important to retain this idea even if he were to be genderbent. i do think mello would have had a much harder time, if it was at all possible, in attaining a leadership position within the mafia as a woman. the women who frequent the base are implied to be sex workers, and so i'm genuinely curious as to whether mello would have felt able to approach the organisation as a masculine presenting woman, or whether he'd seek out a different group. in which case, what would that group be? would he have been able to effectively carry out his insane plans in the same capacity?
i have very little doubt mello would still have been ambitious, but i actually don't think that he would have been able to pursue his goal to catch kira before near as he went about it in the series. certainly light would not have taken him seriously if the voice he heard down the phone was higher pitched, and that alone could have greatly impacted how sayu's kidnapping played out, as underestimating mello could have easily resulted in her death.
♀ matt -> apparently mail as a name means 'pleasant', and that is very funny to me. i quite like the name maille, which is irish, so fits nicely with a vague headcanon i haven't fully developed. i also learnt it is the name for a brand of mustard, and i think he would appreciate that. matt as a pseudonym might have to be changed to matilda, or martha.
while i am under no illusion that matt would be the kind of girl to give a shit about their appearance, i do think in another life, he would have made an excellent e-girl twitch streamer. i can imagine him wearing cat ear headphones and miniskirts, and referring to "chat" every five seconds. rest in peace, mail, you would have loved twitch subs.
regarding matt's gender identity in the canon series, i think that it worth considering how he might have responded differently to surveying others as a woman rather than as a man. i think matt's approach to watching others is very informed by his own personal biases, which I think are definitively masculine. The most clear example of this is how he describes misa as "an awfully cute japanese girl" which, while isn't necessarily the worst thing said about a woman in this godforsaken series, demonstrates that matt's perspective on women is superficial at best. this isn't helped either by the fact that he completely fucks up when guessing misa's age, even going so far as referring to her as a "child".
i think a female matt would probably feel the most overwhelmed of the three by societal expectations of women, and may even distance himself away from femininity. i'm not trying to suggest here that matt's comments imply he's misogynistic, but i actually think matt is the most masculine of the wammy's kids, which may be controversial, i don't know. i believe that he retains his masculine personality in this genderbent scenario.
♀ near -> i love the japanese pronunciation of near's name, nia, as a girl's name that he could use as an alias. natania has the same meaning as nate – 'gift of god' – which does not match his character at all, haha, but that is what i managed to come up with.
near is the easiest to consider gender swapping because to me, he's a girl anyway. you can point to his female voice actors in the anime, or his long hair in the 2020 manga one-shot, but he is also so clearly coded as a feminine character, a contrast from not only mello's aggressive impulsivity, but the masculine environment of law enforcement. with halle as a notable exception (who herself is very masculine, but another post, perhaps), near is markedly different from every other character in the series. some might say he resembles his predecessor, but i think they are very distinct from one another as characters.
my personal opinion relating to mello and near's gender identities (which you may disagree with) is that mello expresses his gender ambiguity externally whereas near does so internally. essentially, if we interpret them both as androgynous, mello's appearance is far more expressive of this, whereas near's behaviour is his more nonconformative trait. this can be a slightly tricky area to navigate as it's important not to dive headfirst into gender essentialism, but i think near's mannerisms can, and should, be explored here.
girl near would still be able to work as head of the spk, without the disadvantages girl mello would face to become head of the mafia. i really don't think there would be much in the way of significant plot deviance if near was female, other than maybe light freaking out over the fact he was caught by a woman, which would be very funny. in the one shot, near's internal androgyny has manifested itself as a more external expression, and i really like that decision.
to conclude, i do love the concept of the wammy's girls, and i think it invites some interesting discussions relating to how femininity is often dismissed in death note. there's a lot of creativity in genderbending characters. mello, matt and near each have complex and interesting traits that are very fun to explore when thinking about them from this perspective.
#sorry this took me so long to respond to#managed to write it out while getting tattooed so i think i deserve credit there at least#asks#mello#mihael keehl#matt#mail jeevas#near#nate river#wammy's house#death note#gender#analysis#perhaps?#headcanon#text post

do you have any book recommendations beyond classic lit + Jane Austen? Love your blog by the way!
Thanks! I read/have read a ton of books. My favourite genre as a child was fantasy, but I read almost everything except true crime*, thrillers, murder mysteries, self-help, and biography. But I do sometimes read those, my favourite thriller is Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney. I'm going to start with children's books because honestly, I find so much imagination in that genre.
Children's/YA Books: Gail Carson Levine, specifically The Princess Tales 1 & 2, and Ella Enchanted, among others Jean Little/Kit Pearson - these authors have the same vibe to me. Willow and Twig is a favourite from the first one, The Guests of War trilogy and Awake and Dreaming from the other. They both write coming of age novels for girls, both Canadian. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - I loved the whole trilogy (haven't watched the movie). The story being based around real antique trick photos is my favourite part The Echorium Sequence by Katherine Roberts - a trilogy of books about magical singers with blue hair and their interactions with half-human magical creatures Margaret Peterson Haddix, specifically Running Out of Time, the Shadow Children series, and Double Identity. Margaret Buffie, who writes stories about teenage girls and ghosts. Also Canadian, which I guess isn't that surprising. The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Re-read it last summer and it's as good as I remembered. Roald Dahl, I really loved Matilda as a child, it's been fun to read some of these novels with my kids. Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar - and it's sequels. Amazingly quirky and funny stories about a class of students in a weird school
Fantasy: Mercedes Lackey, specifically the Five Hundred Kingdoms series and The Obsidian universe. I also loved the Elvenbane series, but due to the death of Andre Norton it may never be finished. I would advise caution if sexual assault is triggering for you, the ones I like are mostly free of it but that can come up in her other works. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien - obviously. Also loved The Hobbit, have not read further The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin - the book opens with the triggering of an apocalypse. The world contains people who can control earthquakes A Baroque Fable by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro - this book is so hilarious but I don't know if anyone has heard about it Once Upon a Winter's Night by Dennis L. McKiernan - and it's sequels. This is a romance retold fairy tale series
Science Fiction: Michael Crichton - who spans a bunch of genres but I'll put him here. I've read everything he's written and I recommend most of it. State of Fear has not aged well. His books are very fast-paced and Timeline has one of the best enemies to lovers. Orson Scott Card - I am aware, but Ender's Game is a masterpiece. He also has this single novel called Magic Street that is a sequel to A Midsummer Night's Dream. I also loved Memories of Earth but it's been a while since I read it. I, Robot by Issac Asimov - short stories about artificial intelligence and how it might go weird
Graphic novels: Astro City by Kurt Busiek - superhero, but more focused on how living in that world would affect normal people Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra - every male on earth dies, except for one, and his monkey Fables by Bill Willlingham - after being attacked by an army of wooden soldiers, fairy tale characters and creatures seek refuge in a non-magical world (ours) Nimona by ND Stevenson - a villain gains a shape-shifting sidekick, but she is not what she seems Scurry by Mac Smith - post-apocalyptic earth, the main characters are all surviving mice. Best artwork I've ever seen in a graphic novel American Vampire by Scott Snyder- vampires have different traits depending on their home country, this is about the new, American species. Asterix and Obelix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo - a small group of powerful Gauls defend themselves against the Romans using a magical potion
Non Fiction: Stephan Pinker, I've read both of his trilogies on language and the brain. Trying to get through his huge book about violence The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks - writen by a neurologist, fascinating book Doing Harm: The Truth About How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leave Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick by Maya Dusenbery - what it says on the tin
Toddler/Young Child Books: The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone - I give you a 100% guarantee that if you read this book aloud, the kids will be fascinated. It is literally always a hit Robert Munsch - most of his books are amazing, but if you don't want to cry, DO NOT read the backstory of Love You Forever. The Paper Bag Princess was one of my favourites as a child. Little Critter - only the older ones, the new ones are religious for some reason. Just for You and I Was So Mad were favourites for my kids. Early lesson in unreliable narrators. Phoebe Gilman - Something From Nothing, the Jillian Jiggs series, The Balloon Tree... so many good ones! Really good illustrations too Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal - a book about a pea who hates eating candy. This book is fun to read and my kids loved it (I have the box set) The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak - kids love when adults have to do weird things I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen - perfect opportunity to do a lot of funny voices The Mitten by Jan Brett - a whole bunch of animals squeeze into a mitten. That's the whole thing. It's great. The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland - and the rest of the series. These are fun to read because they rhyme. Jonathan Stutzman - my kids LOVE Tiny T. Rex and the Llama series. We haven't read the others An Elephant & Piggie by Mo Willems - we have this entire series, they are a delight. An elephant and pig are very silly friends. Good drawings Dr. Seuss - be careful with him though, his books are quite long and can be hard to read, so I recommend waiting until your kids are a bit older. But The Lorax slaps and my personal favourite as a kid was The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
Other: Still Alice by Lisa Genova - or any of her books really. She is a neuroscientist and her books are really interesting explorations of different disorders. Book is better than the movie Warm Bodies by Issac Marion - zombie Romeo and Juliet Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder - a novel that is also an intro to philosophy course Calvin and Hobbes - I own all of them, so excited for when my kids can understand them. I also love The Far Side, Zits, and the earlier Dilbert comics The Women in Black by Madeleine St. John - this book is absolutely charming. I saw the Netflix movie and then bought it right away.
*I avoid true crime because I have heard that the genre causes harassment to victim's families
General Note: I am aware that some of these authors are now considered controversial, some for more serious reasons than others. Sometimes flawed people make really good art. I mean, flawed people make all art because nobody on earth is perfect.

Came and Never Left
Pairing: Anthony Lockwood x fem! Reader (No use of Y/N)
Inspired by "The Day That I Met You" by Matilda Mann.
Summary: "You're wasting your potential at Bunchurch, you know... Call me, and I will take care of you. I promise."
Warnings: I'VE READ THE BOOKS SO THERE MIGHT BE SPOILERS. Cannon-typical violence. Reader has parent issues (Father isn't in the picture, and mother just passed). Depictions of death/homicide. Slight mentions of the reader being bullied/put down by coworkers.
A/N: Maybe series incoming? Idk, we'll wait and see. BTW, don't worry about the little numbers. I like separating my work into sections, just in case you accidentally close out and lose your place. Just remember Chapter/Part Whatever, Section 69, or something like that.
(PART 2)
1.
It was pouring outside and just minutes before curfew. You cast a nervous glance at the phone book, sitting on a table by the door. The yellow pages glared with agency ads, especially from Rotwell's and all of their new technology developments, such as iron tape and ghost alarms. The ghost alarm was bogus, you found. It was nothing but a rod, some spiderweb, and a bell attached to the end. It did ring, sure, but incredibly late. Your mother had bought it before she died. It rang an hour after her apparition attacked you in your living room, late one evening. And the iron tape was something you had bought on your own time. It now lined your bedroom walls.
The page the phone book was open to had another agency ad in particular that made you antsy. The silver and black stood out against the vomit-yellow color.
A. J. LOCKWOOD & COMPANY.
Beneath was a phone number, provided for leisure. They were small and they were cheap. And you knew no one from that company, which made you feel better.
There was a sudden knock on the door that broke your attention away from the book. You took a deep breath, fixed your wool cardigan so it covered you (you didn't think about the way this was a very grade-school English teacher moment), and unlocked the door. You expected a team to be at your front door, but no. Just one boy, about your age. Tall, strikingly handsome, and charming without having said a word. He was dressed in a fine-pressed suit, which was only kept dry by the stark black umbrella looming above his head.
"Good evening," he said. His voice emulated milk and honey. "My name is Anthony Lockwood, head of Lockwood & Co. I've been informed of your situation, and I'm here to help. May I come in?"
2.
You brought him to the kitchen and put on the kettle. He sat down at the table and had a few biscuits that you politely offered to him before sitting down across from him, nervously twiddling your thumbs and trying to act natural. You didn't want to make yet another enemy from an agency other than the one you were currently employed at.
He ate while flipping through the week-old newspaper. Once he was done, he sat back and smiled at you. It was like the sun had just come blasting right through your window. You sat up straight, and he fixed his tie.
"So, you're an agent as well?" He asked you so bluntly, but his smile never faded.
"I am..." You murmured back, unable to meet his gaze now.
"I'm sorry to sound so rude. I just noticed the rapier and work belt hanging by the door when I first stepped inside. Which agency are you from? Rotwell? Fittes?"
"Bunchurch," you said. "My mother worked there when she was a kid, as a researcher, and she was one of their biggest donors and contributors into their own research of The Problem before she passed."
"Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. What talent do you possess?" He showed a brief amount of sympathy before moving on.
"I'm an all-rounder, as my supervisor likes to put it. I'm pretty mediocre at everything there is. I do some field work, but..." You trailed off. "They usually stick me on the research end of things."
Lockwood nodded, once again, sympathetic.
"Again, I'm sorry to hear that, but I must ask you something." He then leans forward. His hands come together, and he rests his forearms on the table. "Why did you call on us rather than Bunchurch?"
You stiffened at the question. He was forward and all business. You obliged him, not wanting to be a burden.
"They don't exactly treat me as well as some would want to think," you began, fingers now mindlessly picking at your mother's choice of tablecloth. You stuck your pinky finger through a small burn hole, left by one of her cigarettes. "And if I told them I couldn't deal with one measly ghost on my own, they'd probably laugh and put me out on the street..."
You look back up again, and Lockwood's eyes are glued to you. His eyes are such a pretty brown color. You look away again.
"What makes you say you can't deal with the ghost on your own?" Lockwood was very quiet when asking this.
"It's my mother," you said back, equally as quiet. You both sat in silence for quite some time. He took a patient breath.
"How did it happen?"
"Burgurlary gone wrong," you whispered, still picking at the cigarette burn. "I was out on a job. Mom had horrible hearing. She lost the ability to hear out of her right ear when she was fifteen. Some idiot on her team had horrible aim and hit her with a salt bomb. It went off when it hit her face. Robber came right in the dead of night, and she didn't hear him. She woke up and went downstairs just to get some water. Guy thought she had seen him, and just..." You made a gun with your hand and put it to your forehead. You slowly lowered your hand. "Neighbors called the cops. Cops called DEPRAC, and DEPRAC called me while I was on the job."
"And she attacked you?" He asked. You nodded.
"Three AM, just a few nights ago. I went downstairs to get a glass of water, just like she had, and there she was..." You sighed. "She could be rather cold, personality wise, but I never imagined her coming back as a cold maiden."
"Type two?"
You nodded once more, and Lockwood does as well. The kettle started to scream from the stove. You quickly stood up and tended to it.
"English breakfast or Earl Grey?" You asked.
"Earl Grey, please, with a dollop of honey, if you have it."
3.
You helped him set up in the living room. It was the least you could do in exchange for his kindness and patience.
As you laid out a circle using the iron chains he had packed in his dufflebag, he examined the room, all the pictures that hung on the wall, and the traces death-glow left on the wooden floors. Your mother, unfortunately, had been shot on her favorite white carpet. DEPRAC had rolled it up and took it to the furnaces to be incinerated, along with a few other items that had been spattered with blood. Many other items were packed in cardboard boxes.
"Planning on moving, I assume?" He hummed.
"Just to the quarters within Bunchurch for the time being. I can't afford to keep up with rent on the house on my own," you explained and linked the chains perfectly together, just as you were trained to do. You then went to stand beside him as he admired a piece of artwork, just above the fireplace and resting on the mantle. Your mother would always stare at it when she was home. It was like a piece of resistance in her eyes.
When Lockwood tuned to face you, his scent, unburdened by the rain, washed over you. He smelled strongly of freshly clipped lavender and clean laundry. There was also a faint trace of burnt toast and magnesium. He smiled down at you.
"Do you have a safe place to go while I do my business here? Or would you feel better if you supervised?" He said, still smiling and making your heart beat a little faster.
"My room should be safe," you said to him. "As long as that iron tape from Rotwell's holds up."
He laughed at your answer. "One of my associates has a habit of buying that junk too. He rambles all the time about all of that Rotwell nonsense. Can you believe it?"
You smiled back up at him and blushed.
"You have to give them credit. A lot of the stuff they sell is junk, but it can be useful some of the time."
"Oh, spare me," he openly joked with you. "George will definitely get a laugh at that. He went on this huge rant just the other night about the stupid ghost detector stick he bought with his entire paycheck."
You continued with the small banter and kept him company until the old grandfather clock that sat in the corner struck twelve. Lockwood had been sharing jammy dodgers with you that he had tucked in his coat pocket, when the metallic twang rung and had the two of you in a spellbound trance.
Lockwood looked at the clock, checked his watch for the accuracy, and then unclipped the thermometer from his belt. The black box read 17.2 degrees Celsius. He let out a small laugh, chuffed with himself.
"I suppose you best be heading to your iron tape fortress rather quickly," he said while showing you the reading. "It was twenty-four degrees in here about 10 minutes ago."
With that, you both stood. He went to his iron circle and dug in his bag for a moment. When he stood back up, he turned to you.
"I'm sure you have a million and one of these stashed somewhere, but just in case you can't reach one of yours, take one of mine," he grinned and placed a salt bomb in your hands. "It'll give me some peace of mind when you go upstairs."
You smiled down at the thing in your clutches, then nodded, grinning just as big as he was.
"Don't let her bully you," you teased him, tucking the salt bomb in your pants pocket. "She was always kind of mean to strangers."
Lockwood shrugged and kept smiling. He waved you off and watched you disappear upstairs.
4.
You couldn't sleep. You kept thinking about the boy downstairs, doing God knows what in your living room. He was probably sitting in his little protected circle and eating another biscuit. You smiled at the very prospect.
You sat in bed, one hand resting over the salt bomb still sitting snuggly in your pocket, while the other held open a book, but your eyes didn't bother reading anything. Your ears were too busy listening, which took up most of your brain power.
The grandfather clock would echo up the stairs and to your bedroom. One passed, then two, and before you knew it, it was two forty-five. Fifteen minutes before things began to happen.
Each night, at precisely three in the morning, a horrible scream would rock the house. You gave these details to the company working downstairs over the phone. You never dared to explore more, always too terrified of dying at the hands of your mother's spirit to try. Your thumb twitched over the salt bomb again.
You stared at the pages of your book until the clock struck three, and the seconds seemed to slow. Like clockwork, the scream came rippling through the house. It was louder this time. Loud enough, it made you cover your ears.
Five seconds after came the loud BOOM of a magnesium flare and then the CRACK of a salt bomb. Another terrible shriek tore the house asunder and had you putting your house shoes on. You glanced at the clock.
It read 3:06. Another bomb went off, and you heard furniture start to crash and rumble. You gripped the salt bomb in your pocket and then rushed to your closet. The thought that scared you more than facing your undead mother was the thought of another agent, dealing with a dangerous type two ghost and thinking they could do it alone.
You found your grade three rapier. It was shorter than the one you used now, but that one was downstairs by the door, and you couldn't possibly go for it now.
You threw a robe over yourself and threw open your door. The temperature change was horrendous. Your room was a comfortable and warm temperature, but as soon as you stepped beyond the door, you could see your breath perpetrating in the air. Thin layers of ice grew on the walls and cracked at the crumbling wallpaper. Another terrible shriek pierced the air, but it wasn't feminine. It was Lockwood.
You rushed down the stairs and turned to see the scene before you. The walls were burned from salt, magnesium, and ectoplasm. Lockwood had been knocked on his back, and his coat was steaming from the ectoplasm burns. The iron chain had been snapped in two. His rapier was far across the room, stuck in the wall like a decorative art piece. Above him was your mother. Her apparition was blue and terrifying. You could hardly look at her without wanting to turn away and sob. There was still a bullet hole in the center of her apparition's forehead. Tentacles of ectoplasm lashed out at Lockwood as he laid on the floor, and he was trying his best to dodge each one. He was out of flares and out of time.
That was, until you rushed to his aid.
You unclipped the salt bomb and threw it. It exploded and blinded both you and Lockwood. Your mother screeched and disappeared briefly, but she was quick to start reforming. You ran to Lockwood and helped him stand up by his shoulders. His eyes were wide and wild and he loomed at you with his mouth agape. You stared back, just breathing hard and speechless. Your heart was going a mile a minute. His eyes suddenly flicked away from you. He grabbed you by your waist and pulled you to the side quickly. He slammed his back against the wall and kept you tight to his chest. You realized he had just pulled you out of the way from another lash from an ectoplasm tentacle.
"I thought you wanted to stay with your iron tape fortress!" He panted, smiling at you as he let you go.
"I couldn't let you deal with her alone," you said back, then turned to face the bigger problem in the room. Your mother had reformed herself, right in front of the chimney. She screamed again, and it rattled your brain inside your head. You screamed back and threw your rapier.
The point of the blade struck her blue chest. Her apparition disappeared as the blade went entirely through her and landed in her favorite painting on the mantle, like a dart in a board. You watched the blade shake and then still. Steam bellowed from it.
"The fireplace," Lockwood muttered and he came to stand beside you. "The source has got to be in the fireplace."
You nodded in agreement.
Lockwood approached his dufflebag quickly and retrieved a silver net. He pulled his rapier from the wall and looked to you.
"You go up there, and I'll watch for her. Okay?"
He gave the silver net to you. It wasn't an option anymore. You both cautiously approached the fireplace, and another screech rang from the house and shook the ice-chipped, ectoplasm stained walls.
"Not getting any younger here, Bunchurch," he said cooly, keeping his rapier steadily pointed while his eyes flickered all over the room, carefully watching.
You wasted no more time, climbing into the fireplace with no light. You relied on your hands, feeling the bricks and only finding thick grime and soot.
"Lockwood!" You called. "I'm not getting anything! I don't think it's here!"
"I think it is," Lockwood said, now sounding tense. "Because your mom's back, and if you thought getting a spanking with a wooden spoon was bad, you're definitely going to hate what she's about to do here in about ten seconds or so."
You searched all the more frantically, and you stretched up on your tippy-toes. Your fingers dived into a mesh of spiderwebs suddenly, and it took all of your willpower not to pull your hands away and wretch with disgust. You dug deeper, wincing as you heard the visitor scream again. Your hands then felt something wooden lodged between a couple of bricks. With no hesitation left, you grabbed it and yanked it down. You wrapped it in the silver net, and as soon as you did, all was silent. You could hear the ticking of the grandfather clock in the corner and Lockwood's loud panting.
5.
You crawled out of the fireplace, and the first thing you saw was Lockwood's smiling face. He put both of his hands on your shoulders and beamed so brightly at you.
"Well done, Bunchurch!"
You began to beam, too.
He took the silver net from you and set it somewhere safe, where it wouldn't be disturbed.
"Did you see what it was?" He asked you and took a seat on the floor. The couches were still thawing from the bitter cold and the walls now dripped from melting ice.
"No," you sighed. "A box, I think."
He hummed. You sat on the floor with him, next to him. He produced a bar of chocolate from his now near-empty duffle bag. He split it with you, and you made a new kettle of tea in the kitchen, where you both soon moved to sit more comfortably.
"Hang on a second," he suddenly mumbled to you. "You've got soot all over your face. Let me get it for you."
He wet a napkin and then approached you. The smell of lavender was overwhelmed by the magnesium, but still there all the same. He wiped at your cheeks and forehead with the wet napkin and got as much grime as he could while the water in the kettle started to boil. He was so gentle with you, it made you blush profusely, and his eyes had a new gleam to them that you hadn't seen when he first stepped foot into your house.
"If you want," he spoke softly while using his other hand to tilt your chin up more, "I could stay with you until dawn and we can see what the source was in the morning, when it's safe."
You thought about it for quite some time, then shook your head.
"No... I don't think I really want to know what it is," you sighed and looked up at him. He had paused with dabbing the napkin and now just mindlessly rubbed your chin with his gentle thumb. "I've spent the past two weeks trying to heal after her death. I think seeing what it is will put me back quite a bit."
Lockwood stood there for some time, just gazing at you while you spoke. He dropped his hands and nodded, finally, after some time of thought.
"As you wish, Bunchurch. I'll take it to the furnaces first thing," he smiled at you, and you smiled back. He placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, and you placed your hand on top of his, in return. You saw the pink rise to his pale cheeks, and he gave you the faintest hint of a laugh. He stayed with you for some tea and a light, congratulatory breakfast. Not long after that, he was packing his things and getting ready to leave.
6.
"You know," he spoke softly as you walked him to the door. "You saved my life tonight. You'd be surprised at how many people there are in this world who wouldn't do the same."
You smiled at him.
"From one agent to another," you said with sincere warmth in your tone. He smiled back at you.
Dawn was just beginning to peak in through the window above your front door. He turned to face you just as you reached for the handle.
He stuck his hand in his coat pocket and brought out a small business card. Scrawled on it was the same name and number you had gotten from the yellow pages.
"What is this?" You murmured, confused. It took you a moment to realize that the number on the card was different in the slightest of ways.
"It's my personal phone number. We have two phones. One for business and one for other things. Give us a ring sometime, using that number," he spoke and pointed to the card. "You're wasting your potential at Bunchurch, you know. The way you acted tonight more than proved you deserve to work on the field rather than some dusty library. Lockwood & Company will always have room for more people like you." He cupped your hand, the one holding the business card, and curled your fingers around it for you so you could hold on tight to it. His hands were warm and comforting around yours. His warm, brown eyes never left you. "Call me, and I will take care of you. I promise."
It seemed like only a few heartbeats before he was gone. You watched from one of your living room windows as he went to the corner of your road and hailed a cab. You sat and watched his cab drive away, still clutching the card, just knowing from the feeling you got, you'd be leaving your job at Bunchurch very soon.

The Wizard of Oz series is centered around powerful girls and women, something unfortunately still unusual today. It was even more so when it was published in 1900. Matilda Joslyn Gage, was a huge influence on her son-in-law Frank Baum, and instrumental in the book being published.
The article below calls her a radical feminist, but they do NOT mean a terf.
They mean the same thing I thought the term meant when I first heard it - a fierce believer in feminism.
AFAIK there's no record of her ever mentioning trans people, but given her activism against organized religion as a source of prejudice, and for multiple oppressed groups of people, I definitely think she would have supported queer rights.
The Wizard of Oz film, and the novels that inspired it, were deeply influenced by the ideology of radical feminist Matilda Joslyn Gage. Gage may be best known as the mother-in-law of Oz novelist L. Frank Baum, but more importantly, she was an activist, who would be considered as radical in our day as she was in hers. “[Gage was] the woman who was ahead of the women who were ahead of their time,” Gloria Steinem said in Ms. Amongst her many accomplishments, Gage wrote the first three volumes of The History of Women’s Suffrage, alongside with her contemporaries, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Unlike these women, who both opposed the 15th Amendment, Gage sheltered runaway slaves in her childhood and married homes. In her final years, Gage became a treasured ally to local native American tribes, who adopted her as one of their own.

Mrs. Gage railed against religious leaders and politicians for a living and was so controversial and so scary to some that she was deemed ‘an infidel,’ her activities called ‘satanic.” That Gage is not better known to modern Americans is the result of deliberate actions taken by Anthony to distance the movement from Gage’s radical ideas, namely that the church’s hierarchies were inherently oppressive to women. As historian Sara Egge wrote, “Anthony in particular recognized that claiming her as central to the woman suffrage narrative was too dangerous.” Gage’s radicalism evidently rubbed off on her son-in-law. According to Schwartz, Baum became the outspoken secretary of his local Equal Suffrage Club, writing in a newspaper editorial, “We must do away with sex prejudice and render equal distinction and reward to brains and ability, no matter whether found in man or woman.”
Baum took inspiration from Gage’s politics, and in turn, she encouraged him to write down the spellbinding stories he told her grandchildren. In one instance, as Schwartz noted, Gage sent her son-in-law a newspaper ad for a story contest, writing on the enclosure, “Now you are a good writer and I advise you to try. Of course, you have but a little time, but ideas may flow.” In time, Baum would write The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but in 1893, seven years before his book, Gage published Women, Church and State, a 500-page treatise which detailed why the church’s hierarchies were inherently oppressive to women. In a lengthy chapter titled “Witchcraft,” Gage argued the church affixed the label “witch” to any “wise, or learned woman,” a practice she traced from the middle ages to puritan Massachusetts.
Source. The bolding is mine.
I think Gage would have loved Elphaba! :)
ETA: I now love the name Gage for someone regardless of gender. :)

Sheela always gave me the impression of being the oldest or at least oldest-sounding woman in this team, but paying attention, she and Sarah are the two members with the highest voices actually, on par with most young girl NPCs. Taya, Janet and May have a slightly deeper voice on par with the adult woman NPCs (I think May's has a slight difference but I can't confirm due to the sudden storm that decide to boom just now).
Meanwhile Karna has a noticeable deeper voice that's on par with Eric, Peter, and other male characters. So that's a peculiar fact.

max verstappen x hearth sister!ofc (sylvie ford) - wip
summary: there is a massive difference between the two words, but sylvie was more than willing to blur out the line if it means for her to spend some time with what others called her soulmate, max verstappen.
content warning: 16+ content, use of explicit language, social media file + written fic format, mentions of paternal relationship issues, jos verstappen, mentions of mental health and problems with it, best friends to enemies to best friends to lovers (lol), gossips + rumours
one, it’s time to go: sylvie attended a christmas party and couldn’t seem to do what she normally did on the paddock: avoid max
two, closure: her memories haunted her so much that the red bull team principal thought of her to be incompetent, so it was only ideal of max to face the music too.
three, goodnight n go: she wasn't sure what was more surprising: toto's presence on her graduation celebration or max's expensive graduation gifts.
four, gorgeous: there's nothing more satisfying than seeing christian horner own up to his own mistake. that, and max's office-warming gift that he dropped off in sylvie's new on-site office.
five, cinema: sylvie was left feeling unsure when she and max did things that friends normally wouldn't do after she was broken up with by another man. (16+)
six, satellite: max verstappen might've avoided talking about what they had done before all of this, but he was certain he wouldn't get out of his way just to ignore her as he swore not to her one way or another ever again.
seven, mean: sylvie found herself with a million and a half pounds and winning against the boys who brought her racing career to an early end.
eight, long story short: they're friends, they said. they bought a house and adopted a dog together, they definitely did.
nine, mastermind: max wasn't going to admit that he was jealous. he wasn't going to tell her that he sabotaged her blind date, either. not that she didn't know.
ten, comfort crowd: ah yes, the first monday of may. when everyone speculated that sylvie was merely using him and when she finally admitted to missing him for the past four years.
eleven, matilda: they don't know much, maybe, but they know how they'll raise their children away from the toxicity that they grew up in, all thanks to their fathers who did nothing but set expectations. (hc)
extra: matilda volume two, smau: set years after the tltl series in which sylvie and max have the most adorable set of kids called emilia, lila and maximilian. (f)
twelve, wild: sylvie is smart and she was always quick to realize things. what she did not expect, however, was realize that she was in love with her best friend.

"Matilda! Aesop! Thank Merlin you’re both here!” Nurse Blainey panickedly exclaimed as both professors hurriedly made their way towards the matron, who stood at the bedside of a student who was subdued by the thick straps of leather. The poor student was flailing and wailing, uncontrollable tears running down her face as she tried to break free from her confines.
Cecilia Walters: a Gryffindor student in her 6th year, and the latest victim of an ongoing and mysteriously sinister case. The female student was found unconscious within one of the hidden boiler rooms in the haunted boy’s bathroom with various purple marks marring her skin. Upon regaining consciousness, the poor brunette couldn’t remember anything that had happened or how she ended up in the locked bathroom in the first place. However, upon administering an antidote to help her regain her memories, she has remained in a state of deathly silence, staring into space as if she was in a permanent daze. Within the few days she had spent within the hospital wing, she would sometimes break into a fit of sobs and tears, and would often lash out in a fit of hysteria whenever she made any form of skin contact with someone.
Professor Sharp hands over a specially concocted Draught of Peace to Nurse Blainey, who poured the potion right into the 6th year student’s mouth. Cecilia gurgled as the liquid flowed down her throat, hacking and coughing in the process. Soon, her hysterics slowly died down, and her once broken sobs turned into sighs of peace as the draught successfully sedated her troubled mind. Professor Weasley stared at the poor student with a pained expression while Nurse Blainey grabbed a damp washcloth to clean her up. Professor Sharp gritted his teeth in silent anger.
“We have no choice, Noreen. This is the third time we're sending a student to St. Mungos with the same case,” Professor Weasley woefully said to Nurse Blainey, who looked equally just as sorrowful.
“I'm sorry, Matilda. I did what I could. Whoever has inflicted this suffering upon her is just...” Nurse Blainey trailed off, an unpleasant shiver running down her spine. Whatever memory the poor 6th year had recalled, it must've been a horrifying one.
"Matilda, a word if you may?" Professor Sharp called. The bespectacled professor followed the ex-Auror to the vacant corner nearest to the hospital wing entrance. Professor Sharp turned his heel, looking towards her with a solemn expression while she clasped both her hands and inhaled a deep lungful of air to soothe her frayed nerves.
"What is it, Aesop?" the red-haired professor queried. Reaching within his coat, he pulled out a bundle of folded parchment, handing it over to the deputy headmistress. Professor Weasley scanned through the various pieces of parchment containing the complete records of various potions stored within the potions storage room.
“I was doing the usual checking of my inventory earlier today. Apparently someone has broken into my storage again despite the anti-Alohomora charm on the lock,” the Potions Master explained with a frown.
“And I'm assuming that this case of theft is connected to Ms. Walters' case,” Professor Weasley sighed.
“I'm afraid so," Professor Sharp confirmed. “Every time a vial goes missing, it seems that the same incident happens to another student.”
The Head of Gryffindor house was visibly perplexed. This case has been ongoing for several months, yet Professor Black's lack of cooperation in conducting a thorough investigation has now put more students at risk of danger. As the bespectacled professor read through the records, she noticed a particular pattern: several vials of Forgetfulness Potion and Sleeping Draught were missing. In a state of subtle panic, Professor Weasley hurriedly flipped through the other pieces of parchment to find which potion was recently stolen.
Draught of Living Death.
Ominis sauntered through the halls leading towards the library, his mind adrift as he recalled the multiple things that he had been wondering about eversince your first study session with him for potions. He heaved a loud sigh, running his fingers through his blonde locks in obvious perplexation.
“What on earth was I thinking?!” he hissed angrily to himself, fully realizing the gravity of the situation that he had impulsively put himself into the moment you were in need of help. The logical side of the young Gaunt desperately wanted to call the agreement off because it was a huge hassle on his end, but what kind of gentleman would leave a maiden to face the danger of dealing with a demon all on her own? Needless to say, his morals ultimately won over his logic this time around.
Everything has been a blur of confusion for the opal-eyed male when it came to the entirety of your existence, and that state of bemusement has left a wake of questions begging to be answered. You've been studying with him for several days now, and Ominis was sure that his sense of reason gets more skewed the longer he remains around you. He felt his walls crumble the more he got used to your mannerisms, and he found himself to be more receptive to your little friendly gestures which involved either the sharing of sweets, giving him your spare parchment whenever he ran out, how the tone of your voice becomes spritely whenever he asks you a question regarding study matters, or even sharing a reference book together when there was one copy left within the library.
But those little things aren't the main reason for poor Ominis' restlessness.
The dainty scent of peonies and freesias floating around you whenever you leaned closer to him, and the scent of lemon sweets that he'd occasionally catch whenever you spoke — it all reminded him of Lucie. His Lucie. The enigmatic young lady he’s been trying to find for several weeks in secret.
However, there's still too little proof to correlate you to his anonymous pen pal. Scent and muggle sweets alone cannot be used as a basis: he needed more solid clues to fully convince himself that both you and Lucie were different people to put his mind at ease once and for all. There was absolutely no way that the both of you were the same person, right? Lucie is a cheerful, free-spirited adventurer with little regards for the rules, while you were someone who mostly stays confined within the walls of the library burning your hours away in the pursuit of knowledge and impeccable grades.
But even if Ominis uses that outdated observation to constantly reassure himself, your recent displays of prowess and misbehavior has undeniably thrown him off his train of logical beliefs whether he liked it or not.
“Oh, you’re here!” a surprised voice exclaimed, snapping the opal-eyed male out of his thoughts. You approached the young Gaunt, carrying several books that you had borrowed a few days ago. Ominis hummed in acknowledgement as you walked beside him, entering the library. You glanced at the male while your heart hammered nervously at his unusually quiet behavior.
No sarcastic remarks? No quips? …Odd.
“You do know that I can feel you staring at me, right?” Ominis wryly pointed out as he placed his belongings atop one of the vacant spots of the long table.
Ah, there it is.
“No, I’m not,” you grumbled in embarrassment. Despite the warmth creeping up your cheeks, you heaved a sigh of relief. Not much words were exchanged today, the both of you opting relish in the rare moment of comfortable silence, blissfully scribbling away productively in peaceful tranquility.
You looked around your surroundings, seeing if Madam Scribner was nearby. Upon confirming the librarian's temporary absence, you brought up a tiny drawstring pouch containing your stash of sweets, grabbing two sherbet lemons, and placing the still open pouch beside your stack of books on the vacant seat beside you. The sound of the distinct scribbling in front of you halted as soon as Ominis heard the sound of the rustling plastic wrappers. You snorted in amusement as Ominis flipped his vacant hand up to reveal his palm, prompting you to place a sherbet lemon on it. He put his self-inking quill down, unwrapping the sweet and popping it into his mouth before resuming with his written essay.
Amidst stolen glances and silent observations, there were many quirks of the blonde-haired male that you had discovered to be rather endearing despite your initial impression of him the more you got used to his presence. He was a sucker for all sorts of sweets (even muggle sweets, much to your surprise), had a strange habit of dozing off within at least ten minutes of inactivity if he's disinterested, the way he frowns like a petulant child whenever he comes across anything he dislikes, and his an unusual love for textured trinkets that he can fidget with. It was an amusing sight witnessing other emotions from him aside from his usual sneers and scowls — it gave the impression that despite his reputation, he's still a typical young man, after all.
But alas, the relaxing ambience was soon disrupted when multiple flares of all sorts of color exploded in the air. Sparks began to fly all over the library, chasing multiple students as they let out a panicked scream until it fizzled out completely. More displays of fireworks bedazzled the normally quiet air of the library, much to Madam Scribner's chagrin, who vanished the foreign objects causing chaos within her domain. The chatter slowly died down the moment the fireworks were gone, and the library was in a state of peace once again while a rather furious Madam Scribner patrolled around, finding the perpetrator of such mischief.
Upon seeing stern librarian approach the table you and Ominis were seated at, you immediately reached out for the drawstring pouch near your books, only to find out that the strings had been pulled taut with its contents sealed within it securely. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you placed the bag of sweets back into the inner pocket of your cloak.
"Strange, I could've sworn I left this open. Oh well," you muttered, picking up your quill once again. Unbeknownst to you, a certain person materialized out of thin air from behind one of the bookshelves near the restricted section, clutching a certain pouch of muggle sweets in their hand. The unknown person deftly made their way towards the doors leading to the Central Hall, skillfully staying out of sight.
The light chatters of students echoed throughout the barely inhabited walkways of the Transfiguration Courtyard. Ominis was walking alongside Sebastian, who was animatedly telling the blonde-haired male about yet another possible cure for his twin that he had found within the restricted section. For the most part, aside from the incident at the library, the day itself was rather uneventful so far.
“By the way, I heard about what happened in the library earlier. Whoever pulled that stunt certainly has guts!” Sebastian remarked. “I reckon Scribner was absolutely livid during the whole thing. Would've paid to see the look on her face.”
The young Gaunt's attention towards the brunette dwindled by the second, his sensitive ears picking up a certain Slytherin prefect's voice while they passed by the alcove with the recently repaired statue. Ominis grabbed Sebastian by the arm, stopping him in his tracks. Sebastian looked at him incredulously while Ominis brought a finger against his own lips, signaling the male to stay quiet. Both of them hid behind a pillar each, eavesdropping at the conversation amongst Robert Bulstrode and his two goons.
“.... And stay hidden when you follow her. Pay attention when you see her eat the sweets. Once she's out like light, bring her to me.”
“Sweets, Robert? Did you perhaps do something with it?”
“Of course, you idiot! Why else would we even sneak into Sharp's storage in the first place?! Please excuse this buffoon, Robert. Sometimes he forgets he has a brain!”
“Just do as you're told. I'd rather not steal another Draught of Living Death if this fails. Maybe if I'm feeling generous, I'd gladly share my spoils with the both of you," Robert chuckled darkly.
"After all, (L/N) does look quite appetizing, don't you think?"
Ominis shakily exhaled at what he had just heard out of sheer mortification while Sebastian was equally just as aghast. The blonde-haired student’s intakes of air shifted from quick breaths to slow and deep inhalations, feeling his ice-cold rage course through his veins as his face contorted to display the state of his anger: merciless, unforgiving, and murderous all at the same time. Sebastian watched nervously as Ominis’ grip on his wand tightened, hurling a spell towards the unsuspecting 7th year prefect, who was blasted back, hitting the pillar behind him. Students within the area screamed in fear, running far away from the scene while some onlookers watched from a safe distance.
A shiver ran down Sebastian’s spine as Ominis uttered incantation after incantation towards Robert and his two henchmen in cold blood. He had never seen his best friend this enraged and merciless towards his others before. Without hesitation, Sebastian aided his best friend, successfully disarming Robert and deflecting stray spells hurled by his cronies. Ominis fired an onslaught of offensive spells towards the young Bulstrode, who managed to evade most of them.
“Expelliarmus!”
Ominis’ wand flew right out of his hand as soon as the stray disarming charm hit him. Seizing the opportunity, Robert tackled him to the ground and delivered a punch right across the young Gaunt's face. Ominis fought back, successfully flipping the 7th year over and landing several harsh blows across the prefect's cheeks in succession. Meanwhile, Sebastian was fighting against the last of Robert's accomplices, who sneakily shot a banishing charm towards Ominis, repelling him away from Robert. In a fit of blind rage, Robert crawled towards his nearby wand, scrambling up his feet. A deranged chuckle bubbled from his lips, pointing his wand towards the younger Slytherin student who was writhing on the ground while desperately trying to regain his bearings.
“AVADA—”
“STUPEFY!” you cried, successfully stunning the enraged 7th year in the nick of time. You were merely on your way to the Transfiguration Classroom with Natsai and Garreth when the three of you were greeted by a crowd of anxious students. Upon hearing that a fight broke out between several 5th year and 7th year students, you had a nagging feeling that it involved both Ominis and Robert, thus prompting you to get to the alcove as quickly as you could while Garreth and Natsai fetched the nearest professor in sight.
Sebastian quickly disarmed his opponent and sent him flying back, knocking him unconscious. The both of you rushed towards Ominis, who was lightly bruised and slightly bleeding through his busted lip. Ominis groaned as he felt himself get propped up, his head getting rested on a plush surface. The comforting faint scent of peonies and freesias engulfed his senses, making him sigh in relief. The sound of running footsteps echoed throughout the now silent Transfiguration Courtyard, crowds of students parting as the group ran towards the alcove, revealing Professor Weasley and Professor Sharp alongside Garreth and Natsai who had called for their aid.
“Goodness gracious!” Professor Weasley cried at the sight of the scene: nearby statues destroyed, part of the walls had been charred due to missed spells, several of the pillars were cracked, and students who were either mildly injured or unconscious. Sebastian pulled Ominis back up on his feet while you grabbed his wand nearby, handing it over to the opal-eyed male.
“Explain yourselves, all of you!” the red-haired professor demanded exasperatedly.
A deathly silence loomed over all of you, nervously glancing at one other. The stunning spell you hit Bulstrode with finally lost its effectivity, thus regaining his ability to move once again. Before he could spew his onslaught of lies, he was fortunately cut off by Ominis.
“It was Bulstrode, Professor Sharp,” Ominis revealed, causing the said professor to raise an eyebrow. “He was the one who stole the Draught of Living Death from your storage.”
The crowd of students burst into murmurs, while the prefect looked around panickedly, a nervous chuckle spilling from his lips as he stared at both professors with a glint of maniacal fear within his eyes.
“Professor, he’s lying! T-there’s absolutely no wa–”
“Silence!” Professor Sharp hissed in disgust, turning his attention back towards the misty-eyed student. “Continue.”
“Bulstrode mentioned something about making (L/N) eat some sweets to knock her unconscious. I suspect that he might’ve given some spiked sweets to her,” Ominis explained. Your eyes widened in realization as you began to recall the events that had occurred within the library earlier: the fireworks prank, and your pouch of sweets. Panickedly, you reached for your inner cloak pocket, grabbing the pouch.
“Professor...?” you called out, handing over the pouch of sweets to the potions master.
“Professor Weasley, perhaps we should look through his belongings as well for good measure?” Natsai suggested, carrying Robert’s satchel and handing it over to her. A look of horror befell the 7th year prefect as the bespectacled professor rummaged through his items: aside from his textbooks, Professor Weasley found a duplicate of the potions storage key, a nearly empty potions vial, and a drawstring pouch containing sweets. Meanwhile, Professor Sharp grabbed a sweet from each pouch, placing them in a separate flask each. Muttering a spell, the sweets liquified. The potions master grabbed two leaves, dropping them each into the containers with the liquified sweet: one shriveled up while the other floated on top of the liquid. The sweets that you had given was indeed spiked with the draught. You felt your knees buckle at the revelation, but you stood your ground regardless.
“I believe we’ve seen enough, Professor Weasley,” Professor Sharp concluded, earning a nod of agreement from the deputy headmistress. The red-haired professor walked up to Robert, who kept his mouth tightly shut.
“We shall discuss the appropriate disciplinary actions for you and your friends within the headmaster’s office immediately. I can assure you that your punishments will not be light, Mr. Bulstrode,” Professor Weasley coldly said to the prefect, who hung his head in bitter defeat. You, Ominis and Sebastian heaved a sigh of relief, catching the attention of the bespectacled professor, who looked at the three of you sternly.
“As for you three, unfortunately you aren’t exempted from the punishments of getting involved in a fight within the school grounds,” she curtly said, causing you, Ominis, and Sebastian to wince in unison out of disappointment.
“Regardless, it does not change the fact that you saved many students from a cruel fate. 30 points will be awarded to each of you,” Professor Weasley added, much to everyone’s surprise.
“Ms. (L/N), kindly accompany Mr. Gaunt into the hospital wing. Nurse Blainey may not be in the school grounds at the moment, but I trust you’re well-versed with basic first aid and healing spells?” Professor Sharp queried while you nodded wordlessly in response.
“Very well. Off you go.”
The trip to the hospital wing was agonizing with barely any words exchanged between the both you. Thoughts flooded the both of your minds, trying to process everything that has occurred within the day. Several onlookers stole sneaky glances out of either intrigue or distaste: the normally tidy-looking Ominis looking absolutely rugged at the moment with his unkempt hair, recent battle scars, slightly dirtied uniform, and a loosened tie while you had an uncharacteristic frown on your face and several smidges of dirt on your tights. The both of you were lucky enough to be even alive and unharmed at this point, but it does not change the fact that the both of you were harmed in some way: be it physically, mentally, or emotionally.
Upon your arrival in front of the entrance of the hospital wing, you were greeted by the sight of empty beds and no nurses within the large space: it was the day of Cecelia Walters' transfer to St. Mungo's, hence the matron was not present. Using his wand, Ominis navigated his way to the private ward located at the corner near the main entrance to the hospital wing. You followed suit, entering the smaller room. Ominis sat on one of the vacant beds at the very back of the ward, which was near the cabinet containing medical supplies.
“Honestly, I've never been here before. Is access to this ward one of the many perks of having connections with the headmaster?” you genuinely asked out of curiosity, breaking the silence between the both of you.
“Perhaps? My parents often requested for this room whenever I got sick in the past,” he replied. You hummed in response, grabbing several items from the cabinet before making your way towards him. You poured an antiseptic solution on a clean cloth and gently dabbed it on several of his grazes, busted lip, and knuckles while desperately trying to bite down the sorrowful guilt that was simmering within you the more you uncovered the wounds that he had received from the fight. Ominis had his eyes closed as you treated his wounds, taking note of how gentle and seemingly experienced you were. However, you stopped midway, letting out a shaky sigh.
“Let me step outside for a bit. I really need a moment,” you tiredly muttered, standing up and heading towards the door. Immediately noticing that something was amiss, Ominis grabbed his wand and followed you. Before you could reach for the doorknob, the opal-eyed male took a hold of your wrist, yanking you slightly to make you face him. Tears of guilt were already running down your face at this point, and you tried sniffling as softly as you could. But alas, Ominis knew you were crying — he has an excellent sense of hearing, after all. Gently cupping your face, he brushed off several stray tears with his thumb as you cast your gaze downwards in shame.
“Look, I'm sorry. I just feel quite awful at the moment,” you began explaining. “This is all my fault. I shouldn't have gotten you involved. You got hurt because of me. Even Sallow got into trouble too. You could've died—”
“And I still would’ve done the same even if you didn’t request for my help,” Ominis admitted, cutting you off. “I wanted to step in. Don’t blame yourself for this.”
Ominis tilted your head up and placed his forehead against yours while shushing you gently as you sobbed softly. You felt your back hit the wooden surface of the door while he affectionately grazed the tip of his nose against yours.
“... May I?” he breathed against your lips, slowly inching his way to close the gap. You acquiesced, capturing his lips with yours tenderly. You sighed as you indulged in the softness of his lips while he snaked his hand to the small of your back, gently pulling you closer. Slowly, the both of you pulled away. Ominis winced slightly when he unconsciously smiled, forgetting about his busted lip in the midst of his small moment of joy. Realization dawned upon you, and you immediately grabbed your wand from your pocket.
“Episkey!”
Ominis felt a hot and cold sensation all over his grazes and other minor wounds. He reached for his lip and touched it gingerly, only to find out that the wound has completely healed itself. You held his hand gently while he raised his other as you used the spell once again, ridding his knuckles of its injuries.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Ominis leaned towards you once again, latching his lips onto yours while you instinctively wrapped your arms around his neck. Ominis deftly reached for the doorknob, an audible click reaching your ears as he locked it. You gently pushed the male backwards until the back of his legs hit the edge of the nearest bed. Ominis sat on the mattress while you straddled his lap, nibbling gently on his newly healed lower lip. His lips parted slightly while your tongue immediately snaked inside his cavern. Ominis groaned in response, returning the favor by interlacing his appendage with yours sensually. He haphazardly unfastened the clasp of his cloak before deftly undoing yours. As his lips trailed down your jugular, you shakily pointed your wand towards the locked door, casting an imperturbable charm to make it soundproof. You placed your wand back in its designated pocket within your cloak before slipping off the article of clothing.
Ominis unbuttoned your vest and undid your tie while his lips remained latched onto your neck, leaving a blooming wake of purplish marks on your heated skin. Pale fingers then began to undo the buttons of your blouse while the skin of his lips softly trailed down at every inch of skin that was slowly revealed. Ominis' head spun with desire as he breathed in your heady floral scent while soft mewls spilled from your lips as the blonde-haired male continued his tender ministrations. Eventually, your soft mounds were revealed after removing all layers of your upper garments. A pleasured cry erupted from your lips as you felt his warm tongue flick against one of your sensitive nipples while his hand sensually groped your other breast. You felt your sense of control slip away as he dragged you further down into the depths of sinful desire.
You were then suddenly pinned down by the lithe-framed male, feeling the plush mattress and clean sheets against your naked back. You felt your legs that were dangling off the side of the bed get nudged open by Ominis' knee. You gasped as he hiked your skirt up, exposing the rather embarrassing wet patch forming on the crotch of your tights. He teasingly brushed his knee against your clothed core while you groaned in response at the stimulation. A chuckle rumbled from his throat as he began to undress himself, starting with his necktie. Utterly captivated by his ethereal beauty, you watched the male before you keenly as he removed layers of clothing in succession with elegance. You gulped in anticipation as more of his skin was exposed, feeling your heartbeat and breathing quicken. Your core clenched wantonly around nothingness as he took off the garment that concealed his torso.
It was the first time you fully saw him half-naked, and you felt privileged for seeing how beautiful he truly was beneath all those layers of clothing. His skin was as smooth as porcelain, with several little moles littering the blank canvas. You were suddenly snapped out of your ogling when he undid your skirt and unclasped your shoes, removing them from your body. You felt the misty-eyed male hook his fingers at the waistband of both your tights and underwear, slowly peeling the last two remaining garments off your body. You let out an embarrassed whimper as you felt your damp undergarments leave a trail of your essence along the skin of your legs. Ominis hummed, gripping your ankles. His fingertips felt a wet slick on the inner side of your leg, causing him to smirk knowingly. He knelt down in front of you, spreading your legs apart. The sweet, musky scent of your exposed core made his mouth water in anticipation.
"Fuck, I missed this so much," he groaned, lapping against your soaked pussy. He slurped your liquids like a parched man, causing you to moan out embarrassment and pleasure. A yelp escaped your throat as Ominis yanked you closer by your spread-out thighs, securing you in place as he ravaged you with his mouth and skilled tongue with heightened fervor. You writhed and arched your back helplessly, sobbing in pleasure as he continuously flicked the tip of his tongue at your sensitive pearl. You reached for his already messy blonde locks, intending to pry him off your nearly overstimulated pussy, only for your wrist to be instinctively grabbed by him. Much to your surprise, he voluntarily unlatched his mouth from your core, wiping his soaked chin with the back of his fingers and licking them clean. You blushed at the display of debauchery.
Your eyes wandered from his face all the way to his crotch, staring hungrily at the now visible tent. You sat up, pulling the male before you a little closer by tugging on his belt hoops. Ominis yelped in surprise as you touched his pulsating length through his trousers while you slowly slipped off the bed, softly landing on your knees. Ominis felt his trousers getting unbuttoned, causing a bubbling feeling of bashfulness to simmer within him as you yanked both his trousers and underwear down at the same time.
Hissing wantonly at the sight of his erect shaft, you licked a stripe at the underside of his length and sucked lightly at the tip. A loud moan erupted from his lips — Ominis swore he felt the ground cave in below him when the tip of his cock was enveloped in the delicious warmth of your mouth. He sat on the edge of the bed as you pleasured him, utterly entranced by the sensations you brought upon him. Your mind was in a delirious state, taking in the sinfully addictive musky scent of his privates. You felt your saliva dribble down your chin as you shamelessly bobbed your head up and down, gently licking the veins at the underside of his shaft. You felt the thick appendage twitch followed by a slightly salty taste flooding your mouth. You hummed in delight at the taste of his precum, sucking slightly harder in response.
More. You wanted more.
Inhaling a deep breath through your nostrils, you pushed his shaft deeper within your cavern.
“O-oh fuuuuuuck!” he groaned as his tip hit the back of your throat. Glancing up, you reached for one of his hands, guiding it towards the back of your head. He clenched a fistful of your hair, slowly fucking your mouth deep. The symphony of his uncontrollable moans alongside your muffled ones sent a pleasant tingle right into your core as your juices dripped right onto the floor of the private ward. You moaned in delight as you felt another burst of saltiness flood your sense of taste accompanied by a shudder from the man before you. However, much to your dismay, you were suddenly yanked off his shaft with a faint pop.
“Come here,” Ominis breathily commanded, patting the vacant spot beside him as soon as he removed the rest of his clothing. You complied to his wishes with little to no hesitation, utterly consumed by your desire for the young Gaunt. Before you could lay down on your back, you were suddenly flipped over, landing flat on your tummy. Ominis straddled your thighs, keeping them closed as he placed butterfly kisses along your exposed back. You felt the blunt tip of his cock against your sopping wet slit, a needy whimper escaping through your lips.
“You're so fucking wet for me, love,” he moaned hotly against your ears, suckling onto the exposed skin of your neck. The endearment ignited a fire within you, evident by the globs of essence that had just trickled from your hole.
“Fuck, I want you so bad. Please...!” you breathily begged, causing the alabaster-skinned male to chuckle at your neediness. He teasingly prodded the tip of his cock against your entrance, tracing the skin of his lips along your shoulder.
Your eyes rolled back, mouth hanging ajar as his thick appendage plunged inside you. Ominis rocked his hips in a slow and sensual way, searching for your sweet spots within. You blissfully sighed as he peppered your neck with soft, comforting kisses while whispering sweet yet debauched complements into your ear.
“Such a good girl for me... Oh f-fuck...! Your pussy is fucking amazing!”
The blunt tip brushed against a rather spongey spot, earning a feral moan from you. Ominis growled, grabbing a fistful of your hair and pushing you down against the mattress, his pace becoming brutally quick. You delightfully screamed right into the sheets as he plowed right into your sopping wet core.
“F-Fuck yes! Good girl– Taking my fucking cock so well...!” Ominis panted as he fucked you senseless, the tip of his shaft brushing against your sensitive spot. Droplets of your juices trickled down from your abused hole, enabling Ominis' length to glide across your velvety walls with little to no resistance. You felt molten fire course through your veins, pooling at the tip of your toes as you neared your high.
“Yesyesyes! Fuck, Ominis! You're gonna make me cum...!”
The opal-eyed male groaned audibly at the sound of his name spilling from your lips in such a sinful manner. He felt his cock twitch, feeling your walls flutter and clench as globs of your cum soaked the sheets beneath you. He felt his balls tighten, releasing spurts of milky white semen within your awaiting pussy. You shuddered as his thick appendage slipped out of you, feeling his cum ooze out from your quivering hole. You lay on the bed, utterly boneless from that mind-numbing orgasm. You were about to get lulled into a deep slumber, until you were suddenly flipped over by Ominis once again. You felt his hands spread your legs apart, a familiar blunt tip rubbing itself against your pussy lips.
And so, the second round begins.
The soft snores of your roommates filled the silent dorm room, while you sat at your desk, reading a letter from Ves that you had received a day or two ago. With your freedom back, you planned to go the owlery this morning to send him a reply — the main reason why you were currently up before daybreak.
Dearest Lucie, I hope you’re faring well despite the challenges that you’re currently facing. It must be incredibly harrowing going through such a situation. Oh, if only I were there, I would’ve probably gave that foul git a piece of my mind (alongside my fist or a good jinx). It’s rather appalling that there are still such men in existence. As a member of the human male specie, I humbly apologize for their blatant misbehavior towards a fine young lady such as yourself. It bugs me to know that while I’m comfortably seated within this room, you’re going through such a huge struggle right now. Honestly, if I could accompany you, I definitely would. But alas, all I can offer are my words through my letters. Regardless, I hope you don’t mind me sending you a charmed parchment this time around. You did mention that you missed the outdoors, so I did a little research in the library the other day. I hope it brightened up your day even by just a little. Much love, Ves
You chuckled excitedly at the variety of butterflies and floating flowers that sprouted out of the parchment, marveling at the sight. Grabbing your quill and parchment, you began to scribble your reply before heading out of your quarters along with your broom which was placed right beside your desk. Today, you intended to fly to the Owlery today via the roof deck of the Ravenclaw Common Room.
The rays of sunlight were starting to peek from the distant horizon, signaling the start of a brand-new day. The cold morning air nipped at your skin as you zipped through the air while mounted on your broom. You inhaled a lungful of air as the speed of your flight slowed down, exhaling audibly out of relief.
Meanwhile, Ominis stood at the top landing of the Owlery, handing his letter to his owl, who immediately flew off to deliver the envelope to its recipient, Anne Sallow. The poor Gaunt had visible dark circles under his eyes. He had barely slept a wink last night, plagued by his thoughts of you and Lucie. Ominis visibly blushed when he recalled his tender moments with you yesterday: how you were so vulnerable, his unexplainable protectiveness towards you, the passionate kisses the both of you exchanged, the way you tasted and felt — everything about you was addicting to the point that poor Ominis is now questioning the feelings he felt towards Lucie. He never would’ve thought that he would write to one of his closest friends about girl problems, and he hoped that Anne wouldn’t breathe a word to Sebastian about this.
If only you and Lucie were the same person, then perhaps he wouldn't be in such a pickle with his feelings right now.
The entrance to the owlery creaked open and slammed shut, causing Ominis to cross his arms instinctively as he was snapped out of his train of thought. Footsteps echoed throughout the tower, audibly getting louder as you climbed up the wooden stairs, your lungs burning the closer you reached the top landing. Much to your surprise, you spotted a familiar blonde-haired male who was just standing near the railings of the landing, feeling the cool breeze coming from the large window opening against his face.
“Gaunt?” you called out, causing the male to turn around in response. You felt your cheeks warm at the sight of him, your breath hitching slightly before you cleared your throat to suppress your bubbling bashfulness.
“You’re up early,” Ominis commented as you approached him.
“So are you,” you replied. “Did you even sleep? You look awfully tired.”
“Barely, but no worries.”
The flapping of large wings was soon heard, followed by a deep-sounding hoot from your owl as he lands on the railing. Pellets materialized in front of Russ, who immediately gobbled it down excitedly. You handed the sealed envelope to the great horned owl.
“You know who to send this to,” you muttered gently to the fluffy-feathered messenger. Much to your confusion, instead of taking flight, Russ flew towards Ominis instead, rubbing his head against the male’s arm. Instinctively, Ominis reached out to the owl, ruffling his feathers affectionately. You gawked at the unusually endearing sight: Russ being this affectionate towards strangers wasn’t a common occurrence. That aside, time was ticking and you needed to be elsewhere. An uncooperative owl is the last thing you wanted for this morning.
“Really, Russ?” you grumbled. Ominis’ ears perked up when you mentioned the owl’s name, his heartbeat hammering at the sudden revelation.
Russ?!
“I have to go. I still haven’t finished that Transfiguration essay due today,” you sighed stressfully. “I’ll see you around, Gaunt.”
You made your way down the stairs hurriedly, intending to rush back to your dorm room to finish your essay before your first class starts. Upon hearing the entrance door slam shut, Ominis grabbed the letter from the owl’s beak, hurriedly opening it and pointing his wand at the parchment to read its contents.
Dearest Ves, I know it’s been a while since my last reply, but a lot has happened hence my unexpectedly busy schedule. However, you’d be delighted to hear that the problem regarding my plight has been solved. The source of my fears and worries has been punished accordingly, and I am now as free as a merry little Jobberknoll. I shall be wandering out of the school grounds once again whenever I can. But alas, I still have to attend detention alongside the several students who helped me resolve this situation. It’s rather silly that we weren’t exempted from the punishment, but that’s the nature of silly little rules to keep everyone in order, I suppose. Regardless, I am now capable of sending you letters as frequently as my time permits. I hope I did not keep you waiting too long. I apologize if I seem to lack my usual sprightliness. My mind has barely recovered from its state of turmoil as I write this letter to you, but I want you to know of my current situation regardless. I wouldn’t want you to get worried, after all. That being said, I’ll be dropping by in Hogsmeade this weekend for some well-earned snacks, sweets, and perhaps a butterbeer or two. I think I need it. With much adoration, Lucie P.S. That’s quite a charm you did. I loved it!

I wanna try post more of my pretty cure ocs + I’ve been thinking about more about my phanthom thief precure series so here’s one of the members of PhantoMahou Jewels Precure!
Meet Édith Doucet/Cure Peridot, the third member of the team! She’s your typical mischievous, bubbly and energetic class clown who’s the kid of rich folks with high expectations… who also happens to have an obsession with all things horror and mystery. She can and she will talk people’s ear off about he shows, movies and games she loves. She aspires to become a professional horror writer in the future, despite her parents wishes.
Cure Spinel is just there for reference. Although Matilda is a but put-off by Édith and a bit scared by her love for horror, Édith makes sure to not make her uncomfortable, and the two get along nicely (I may or may not ship them djdjjdjsj)
