So I was writing about Pere Lachaise Cemetery and I noticed something odd when I was checking which marshals are buried there. This is a list of the ones who are not. (Is this the cause of my dreams about ghost marshals??)

I double checked in David Buttery's book, Napoleon's Paris and Augereau is not listed so this website was right in saying he's buried elsewhere but no location is listed so that leads me to believe... that he's still alive 😱

But seriously, does anyone know where he was buried?

Marshals of the First French Empire buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery

Yesterday was the anniversary of the opening of the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris in 1804. @captainknell mentioned that they’re interested in seeing the tombs of the Marshals who are buried there and I realized that I actually have some pics of them. These are not all the Napoleonic figures buried there; not even close! There are actually quite a few notable figures buried at this cemetery.

its a pretty invisible force and the best stories ive seen acknowledge it and incorporate it hyper downplay it but the power of player communication and collaboration outside of a game is like extremely powerful. Its hard to have mystery or distance when it can all be reduced down to 50 or so wiki pages or a discord server experimenting and iterating faster then your QA team could even dream about through sheer numbers alone

during the raid on the Ark, Gerald swallowed the rest of the plant mutation formula before GUN could take it, he was then taken into GUN custody and subsequently court-marshalled (but not after altering Shadow’s memories of Maria’s promise)

but 50 years after he was buried in an unmarked grave near a sewage dump in Gotham City, Shadow’s awakening triggered a rumble through the green that triggered the formula in Gerald’s system to trigger and cause his resurrection, his corpse literally digging himself out of the grave

Unfortunately due to the injuries sustained by the firing squad his mind isn’t rlly all there but the green kinda controls a part of it and starts to try to corrupt his mind and mutate his body, Gerald doesn’t rlly vibe with that so he makes a cryogenic suit to halt the mutation for as long as possible, having to make frequent modifications to the suit to keep up with it (something he can’t do forever with how increasingly fast the green adapts…)

his main aim from when he wakes up is to break into GUN and rescue Maria cuz it turns out that Gerald had started using mutation formula on her while he was still on the Ark so they froze her like they did Shadow so they can try to replicate the formula using her blood and Gerald really wants his granddaughter back to cure her and will do whatever it takes to do that

‘whatever it takes’ means crime in this scenario

Shadow in the meantime has no idea Gerald is still ‘alive’ and kicking, focused on his own goal of terraforming the planet, he doesn’t even connect the dots that Gerald=Mr Freeze because cold and plants do not mix so he can’t get too close without feeling all woozy, too much time in the cold puts him in a comatose state

Gerald, wanting shadow to not be distracted, doesn’t want him to connect the dots so he can focus on his mission
