dark!Joel Miller x f!reader
new one shot Jan 5, 2025: forest floor.
⚠️ this post hit the link limit, and I haven't decided what to do. I will still try to update the newest fic link above.
moodboard by @milla-frenchy 🖤 a rb will not stay up-to-date.
SUMMARY: He's a bad guy, and you're his good girl. Joel saves you from bad men, but claims you for himself. His persona starts to crack, but he gets even more possessive. You're his world, and he'll do anything to keep you. Emotional slow burn but smut the whole time. WARNINGS: 18+ canon-typical violence, noncon via implicit threat, evolving to enthusiastic dubious consent (stockholm syndrome), depraved use of praise and pet names (sweet pea, baby), unsafe P in V, exhibitionism, extreme possessiveness, dark fluff (🖤), angst, and more. NO USE of Y/N, No physical description of reader.
Spotify: raider, sweet pea (smut) Optional reference: trailer floor plan

career in astrology
hii everyone, i wanted to talk about where in your birth chart you can see your potential jobs, career, and inflow of money. i will also go over how some of the planets manifest throughout your chart with it.
for starters, you want to look at your midheaven. the sign it is in, and planets you have aspecting it, as well as planets that fall under the 10th house are critically important. your midheaven represents you in the actual work field: 10th house represents the ways we might get there or what specifically speaks to us for our endeavors. check your 2nd house to see viable forms of income, the ways you can attain it, and expectations for your living. 8th house-6th house can also represent work life in terms of 8th (money from others or lended), 6th (work ethic & fixations).
career paths
having aries midheaven, mars in 10th, ascendant trine/conjunct/sextile mars, or mars aspecting the midheaven can make one so driven to have an early start to their career. from personal experience, i know many aries placements that love being successful from an early age. very versatile career options, they love something that they can express their creative style while switching it up as often as can. they can also experience many burn outs and crash outs due to them having more spontaneous bursts of energy rather than consistent prolonged efforts. career paths best for these people would be anything more hands on; military, construction, teacher, social worker, business person, etc. because aries traditionally rules over the head region, these people want to indulge themselves in challenge & help challenge others.
celebrities with aries 10th house: elon musk, franz kafka, angelina jolie, kanye west.

remember, it is not just your midheaven that represents what you will do in this life, keep in mind of the others things like i stated earlier, also jupiter is very important when we talk about income here. depending on the house it is in will show you how you can attract that money. ex; jupiter in 11h, make money through similar ways an aquarius midheaven might. or they might find that it interests them to go after something that standardly an aquarius midheaven would. 6th house is how we can approach projects. ex; 6th house mars could have an assertive work style, communicative, sharp minded, calculated, determined to duty. 2nd house shows you how you are with money in general, ex; neptune in 2nd can make someone more reckless with spending, giving to others easily, or losing track of budgets. ex,if you have an 8th house mercury persay, you can get money lended a lot by siblings or close relatives, fellow coworkers. (if you have any in particular shoot me a message or comment it down below and i can let you know my inputs on yours).
thank you for reading and like i said if you need any clarification i will be more than happy to clarify!

Trick or trivia
Happy Halloween! I do enjoy trivia of many types, but one of my favorite genres is what I call the Berenstein Timeline: unmade shows and movies, versions of classic movies where studios and producers made different decisions, some better, some much worse. All of these are real projects that were, on some level, considered (there are some recurring names)
"Heat Vision & Jack", a 90s pastiche of 70s-80s action shows starring Jack Black as an astronaut on the run from the law and Owen Wilson as his talking motorcycle
"Jurassic Park" directed by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp as Alan Grant, Jim Carrey as Ian Malcolm, and Vincent Price as John Hammond
the 90s "Batman" directed by Ivan Reitman; Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy were going to star but couldn't decide which of them would be Batman and which would be Robin
Back in the 1970s the American network was getting good numbers showing heavily-edited reruns of "Monty Python's Flying Circus", so they tried to sell the Pythons on the next logical step: an animated Saturday morning cartoon
"Edward Scissorhands" still directed by Burton but starring Tom Cruise or maybe Michael Jackson
"Return of the Jedi" directed by David Lynch; Harrison Ford was considering not coming back for the third movie and so when he came out of the carbonite there was a chance he would have been Christopher Walken
Guillermo del Toro's "At the Mountains of Madness". Also "the Hobbit" and lots of other things, he seems to have a lot of unmade projects
the 2010s "Star Trek" movie directed by Quentin Tarantino, where the edgy reboot crew visits the Gangster Planet from that one stupid episode of the original series
Everybody knows about the unmade "Superman Lives" starring Nicolas Cage in the title role, but did you know it was going to be directed by Tim Burton and include Christopher Walken as Brainiac, who would have been a green head on spider legs
Harold Ramis didn't particularly want to act on camera, so when they were casting "Ghostbusters" Egon could have been Christopher Walken, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum, or John Lithgow. Supposedly the movie was originally intended to be a relatively serious exploration of Dan Akroyd's very real interest in paranormal investigation, although this clashes a bit with the fact that Peter Venkman was originally going to be played by John Belushi and Winston Zeddmore was written for Eddie Murphy who backed out when the character's backstory and most of his lines were cut
John Waters' animated series "Uncle John" on 90s MTV
the original version of "Bill & Ted's Time Van" starring Pauly Shore and Sean Penn
"Red Dragon" (the original Hannibal Lecter novel) directed by David Lynch starring John Lithgow as Hannibal Lecter and Mel Gibson as Will Graham
the 1970s "Dr. Strange" TV series
the 1990s Disney animated "John Carter of Mars"
the 1990s Warner Bros animated "King Tut" musical with songs by Prince
the serious horror version of "Beetlejuice"
Drew Barrymore's 2000s remake of "Barbarella"
the Dungeons & Dragons movie James Cameron was going to make until TSR left the table over merchandising disputes, forcing Cameron to go work on some dumb movie about the Titanic
American "Doctor Who" movie starring Michael Jackson
Canadian "Doctor Who" cartoon by Nelvana starring a Doctor based intensely off of either Jeff Goldblum or Christopher Lloyd
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" directed by Terry Gilliam
"Good Omens" directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Johnny Depp and Robin Williams
"The Black Cauldron" using character and background designs by Nightmare-era Tim Burton

Morning Joe Hits Rock Bottom
Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski need help. But it looks like it's not coming from Former RNC Chair Michael Steele.
The Morning Joe panel descended into chaos Friday after an argument about being “civil” with President-elect Donald Trump erupted. The MSNBC show’s panelists were discussing Trump’s friendly chinwag with Barack Obama at Jimmy Carter’s funeral Thursday when host Joe Scarborough said it is important to keep lines of communication open with ex-presidents. He was perhaps referring to his own November meeting at Mar-a-Lago with his wife and co-host, Mika Brzezinski. They were once friends with Trump but became prominent critics. Oh Morning Joe!
Political commentator and ex-RNC chair Michael Steele continually tried to make a point on the matter while Scarborough interrupted him. Steele then asked for a chance to respond, with Scarborough saying: “Tell us something we don’t know.”
“I’m going to tell you something you seem to forget,” Steele said calmly, before suggesting that the panel are bending the knee to the incoming White House chief. “Everyone is looking at this from a one-way perspective, how we need to approach Donald Trump. How the hell is he approaching us?!”
He continued: “You may not like it but I’m going to make it and the reality of it is, I take your civility argument, you like to say 78 million people voted for Donald Trump. Well, 82 million people voted for Joe Biden and he didn’t get that civility that you’re talking about from Donald Trump in those four years.”

Thinking about Frank telling Percy that after the war he had to ask Pluto's permission to date Hazel. The war gave him some leeway and reason for not doing so, but after it ended, Pluto showed up after a few days and asked Frank why he had not requested permission.
Percy is kinda surprised Hazel doesn't look annoyed. Sure she's from the 40's but he thought permission to marry was the common request. Wasn't permission to date outdated, even by 40's standards?
And Hazel shakes her head and explains that historically a lot of children of Pluto/Hades would be courted by other demigods as a trick or a trap. If a child of the Underworld asked her out, permission would be implicitly granted. If a mortal asked her out, permission would be implicitly granted.
But a non-Chthonic demigod, especially an Olympian one and one of such high rank like Mars, requires permission so Pluto or one of her siblings, or even Proserpina, may assess that this person is someone safe. Even friends can betray you in the end, she notes and Percy hates every single word of what she's said.
Years later when he comes to terms with his feelings for Nico, he agonizes about it. He knows Nico likely won't give a shit if he doesn't have permission, and Hades won't do anything to Percy besides maybe yell at him if he refuses to ask because killing him would upset Nico, but if he's going to date Nico he'd like to be on somewhat good terms with Hades for once. Neutral terms, even.
Frank may have lucked out with near immediate acceptance - why, wouldn't he? Hazel was his world. He would rather die than hurt her - but Percy was a thorn in Hades' side from the moment they met, and he was well aware getting permission would be a long process to go through. Probably some more stupid quests to prove himself.
And he'd do them. He hate it but Nico was worth it.
But part of the reason of living at the Nome these days was to stop having to do quests. To stop have gods interfering in his life to the point of standing on the ledge of the apartment roof and staring down at black asphalt and garbage bags shoved into a corner.
But Nico is worth it. And Percy - well, he'd like to think he's safe for him now. That he won't hurt him accidentally anymore. That they're good. And he's pretty sure Nico likes him back. When he visits, he always gravitates towards him. Sits by him when he's finished training with Walt. Takes him outside with Carter or Zia so he doesn't develop agoraphobia, and holds his hand the whole time so he "can't run away". He strokes the back of Percy's hand every time they're standing still.
He blushed when that one lady thought they were a couple. Didn't correct her either. Didn't ask why Percy didn't correct her. Didn't let go of his hand.
He hasn't interacted with a Greek god in the last four years. At least not in person. His dad and step-mom send letters every few months through Hermes, who hands them off to Nico to deliver. They're nice letters. Hoping he's doing well. Updating him on how the castle repairs are doing. Telling him about quiet spots in the ocean he can visit at a certain time if wherever he is doesn't have access. He's used a couple of them, with Sadie lazing about on a shitty rowboat far above his head.
It's nice to just lay there on the sand. The first time he'd been worried it was a trap. That some sea god would whisk him away for some adventure that would leave him more torn than he already was. But Phillip had sat with him, wand at the ready, his penguins casually swimming above them and it had been fine. No sea gods, no sea monsters, no animals other than the penguins.
So Hades will be the first Greek god he sees in person. It reminds him too much of his first quest. While Ares has been the first, Hades had been the second and Percy had stood in front of him, feeling too small, everything at risk, and someone he loved dearly on the line. If he failed then, he might never get her back.
If he failed now, Hades might enforce ways to keep them apart. To make sure Percy couldn't ignore his lack of permission and date Nico anyway.
What terrified him the most about not earning permission was the implication he was still dangerous to other people, to Nico. He was sure he was safe now. He didn't freak out at the little kids. He didn't wake up screaming. His gut instinct wasn't to pull Riptide out at every single loud noise. He didn't dissociate as much as he used to. He wasn't on edge all the time. He trusted the other people around him.
He didn't want to die nearly as much as he used to.
But what if it meant nothing? Therapy, medication, avoiding the things that caused him stress - what if it wasn't enough? Yeah, he has attacked Nico once but that was years ago, Percy had been extremely stressed out, and Nico hadn't even cared about it when he apologized. It took him a few seconds to even remember what Percy was talking about.
Aside from that one instance, Percy liked to think he'd always been safe for Nico. But then he remembered Bianca and his gut churned viciously.
Still, Nico was worth it. Nico was something he wanted. He'd do it for him. He'd do a lot of things for him.
Grover stood with him at the entrance of the Underworld. Mrs. O'Leary was splayed out, catching the rays of sunlight and rumbling happily as Annabeth gave her a couple treats and belly rubs. She joined Percy's other side and pinched his arm.
He still loved her. He always would. Their relationship to each other wasn't something that could be killed off, even with the distance and Percy running away. Same with Grover. Either one of them could vanish for years at a time, and when they came back, it would be like no time passed at all. They were clicked into one another like a necklace with interlocking friendship charms.
"You got this," Grover said with a clap to Percy's back. His hand drew up to Percy's shoulder and squeeze. "And we'll be right there with you."
"Or just outside the door," Annabeth adds. She flashes her wrist, a shiny watch on it. "And I have a battering ram if needed."
Grover's face went pinched. "That's not helpful."
"It's realistic!" Annabeth argued. "When has he ever come out here peacefully?"
"He's only been here twice!" Grover said in a gritted whispered shout. "You need at least three times to indicate a pattern."
The two of them stepped back ever so slightly so they weren't shouting through Percy, and continued their bickering on what constituted a pattern indication and whether or not it was helpful or supportive to indicate a fight might break out.
The noise helped clear the sound of his own voice in his head. He zeroed in on Grover's words clashing against Annabeth's opposing side, and breathed steadily. The two of them knew him so well. Hopeful realism.
"Guys," he said as clear as he could.
They went silent immediately and drew back to his side. Grover looped his arm around Percy's, pulling him close in by the elbow. Annabeth squeezed his hand once before letting go.
"You ready?" she said.
He nodded and reached for the doorknob. "Let's do this."

hi! i know you made a post about magha placements but can you tell me a little more about specifically magha venus? i have mine in the 8th and was curious how this would play out. thank you in advance if you choose to answer :)
Magha Nakshatra: Pitri Secrets
the magha nakshatra (early leo) is ruled by:
planet- ketu
sacred animal- male rat
body part- nose, lips and chin
deity- pitris, forefathers of humanity
it is ruled by ketu, who is the guardian of our past karmas. wherever you have magha in your chart is where the past karmas are ripe enough to be experienced in this present life.
michael jackson- sun in magha
one thing i have noticed is that magha natives can easily become very class conscious. the symbol of magha is the throne, they seek attention and can also observe who is on “the top” of the pyramid and why they belong there. it’s a way for them to gauge what behaviors will help them eventually get on the top.
magha is the type of nakshatra that isn’t accompanied alone. usually magha natives have other indicators of karma, ancestry or forefathers in their chart like: sun conjunct saturn, any planets in 10th house, rahu/ketu in significant aspects, saturn conjunction moon, the magha planet in house 4/8/10, etc.
to completely understand your magha nakshatra, you must check where it’s ruling planet (ketu) is. for example- someone with magha mercury may have their ketu in the 12th house. this could mean they get their knowledge from their forefathers in the form of dreams, intuition, etc.
eva green, magha asc
magha venus can “attract” their ancestry very easily. venus is utter fulfillment and contentment in astrology, hence why you can attract easily using your venus. seeing that your venus is in the 8th house, you may uncover ancestral secrets or gain money through the property/riches of your forefathers. doing any sort of ancestral prayer/acknowledgement will help you understand intimacy and gain shared wealth.
magha mars may have a lot of karmic work to do regarding anger, drive and power. especially if it is conjunction/square saturn or sun. these are very fatherly, masculine planets. it can show wrongdoing of the ancestors on their male part, so now it’s someone’s time to change the tide.
generally, whatever house your magha is in- if you are facing difficulties in it, honoring your ancestors will help you.
uma thurman, magha asc
helena bonham carter, magha moon
How to Honor your Ancestors:
in general, any sort of acknowledgment to the ancestors can work.
in mahabharata, karna’s soul transcended to heaven where he was offered gold and jewels as food. he asked indra, the lord of heaven, the reason for serving gold as food.
karna had never donated food to his ancestors in shradha, since he was unaware of his ancestry. to make amends, he was given the opportunity to return to earth so that he can perform shraddha and donate food and water in their memory. this period is known as pitru paksha (fortnight of paternal ancestors).
amavasya (new moon) is a great time for magha natives as well.
doing shadow work related to your paternal ancestry / generational trauma helps you connect with yourself
reading about your genealogy, finding more about your ancestry
meditating, making art inspired from your ancestors, etc.

Even though it has never really been directly mentioned or referenced, elements of the ancient astronaut theory have influenced our popular culture for a hundred years. Practically, everything from books, movies, television shows and video games. Since we will never be able to definitely prove it here on Earth and we're also on the verge of going back to the moon, establishing colonies on Mars, mining the asteroid belt and exploring deep space, we might actually find physical evidence of advanced civilizations that existed for over thousands of years ago out there in the galaxy. Whether we like it or not, all of this is going to happen eventually. So, we should definitely have this conversation right now. The future of the human race may very well depend on this discovery.

Fuck it, let's just do some straight up Lily slander.
Hearing her talk, I'd say Lily Orchard really missed her calling by not becoming a network executive. Her saying that Owl House getting cancelled is "proof" that story-driven cartoons don't work has the energy of taking Mars out of the title of John Carter because Mars Needs Moms bombed.
The thing with The Owl House was that it wasn’t that story-driven cartoons didn’t work, it was that Disney preferred episodic shows in general. It didn’t matter what the audience wanted, it was what Disney wanted.
Which again, doesn’t prove a damn thing except companies are fucking stupid.

Absolute Superman #1 & 2
I finally got to read #1 when it came to the app, and I got #2 in print. (I think that 3rd printing of #1 comes out next week.) Just like with Batman and Wonder Woman, I really like what they've done with Absolute Superman. The flashbacks to his parents on Krypton are very good. Finally Lara feels like an equal to Jor. Her wanting to be an astronaut makes that backstory feel more full and more clear. The Els living in the Kryptonian equivalent of rural Kansas is a nice touch. The Wonder Woman and Batman Absolute series are also doing this type of storytelling, but since here we have two adults who are actively discovering and planning things, it feels like the background is deeper here.
I'm not sure if all the references to the fantastical natural features of Krypton are pulled directly from Silver Age stories, but they're certainly the types of things you see on Krypton in that era (crystal forests and all that). The red desert also makes me think of Mars, and one of the influences on the creation of Superman was the John Carter of Mars stories. Again, I can't remember if Krypton had a red desert before, but it's a nice detail regardless of when it was introduced.
Having a stronger memory of Krypton, and a direct link via the suit feels like one of the bigger changes, and it works for me. Usually, Clark rediscovers his Kryptonian culture as he ages. Often it's in early adulthood, and mirrors the experience that adopted children have when they learn about their birth parents. It can also be like the experience of many in the US (and presumably other places with lots of immigration) who come from culturally integrated families, but discover their families' pre-immigration cultures later in life. If we're still working with a US immigrant metaphor, here he's more like not only a first generation immigrant, but one who migrated as a young adult, with his worldview already formed. So far, this seems to position his benevolent nature less as a result of an idealized American morality, and more as a contrast to the very ugly way our (still mostly US-led) world works, despite whatever values we claim to possess. Maybe this is why Lara and Jor seem more like Ma and Pa Kent. It's a fairly daring change, based on how easily certain factions go nuts these days, but I think it's more appropriate to the times we live in. The "aw shucks, we're just a bunch of simple, good-hearted, truth and justice loving folk" version of Americana rings hollow in this era of naked hated and aggression. The Darkseid-infected Absolute universe reflects our own more accurately at this moment.
The re-imagining of the Peacemaker as a group of corporate security goons also works very well in this context. It also vibes with the way the character was portrayed in the Suicide Squad movie: loyal to authority over any deeper consideration of right and wrong. (I did not watch the tv show; the movie convinced me that I didn't want to see him again.)
Lois Lane becoming an agent of this Lazarus corporation feels like the darkest twist so far. It resonates with the mainstream version of the character, since her father is a general -- in a different world, she follows him into a (para)military life. That sequence in #2 where we learn that she hates to write reports shows us how far the "dark" influence in this universe diverts these characters from their usual paths, but the fact that she enjoys writing about Superman shows how much the heroes can still fight back.
I like the suit talking to Kal-el, though I won't be surprised if that goes away after another arc or two. The nano-cloud cape is a cool idea. It has some neat practical uses, and it lets you vary the character's appearance easily: no cape for gritty action, big swooping cape for dramatic, inspirational scenes. Altogether, this is another very strong series in the Absolute line.
