One point that I personally haven't seen a lot make about amc's interview with the vampire especially compared to the movie (and honestly the book) is how much of a character new orleans is. I'm biased being from new orleans (seeing black vampires in New orleans made me wanna originally watch the show lol) but it's really amazing to see.
Setting plays such a pivotal role in storytelling/character development and this show just gets it. Like in the movie if they didn't mention new orleans it wouldn't even feel like the story takes place there while with the show new orleans is so prevalent. Not be all English class but Anne Rice was from new orleans and set here story there for a reason. If season 1 wasn't set in New Orleans you could see how this wouldn't even be the same show

how many times do we need to learn as people that irony and hyperbole can be harmful because 'jokes' aren't easily distinguished from genuine thoughts and feelings until we stop rewarding people for speaking or posting about violence
like even if you're joking/don't actually believe that/think whoever you are insulting is bad/immoral/fictional therefore deserves it - ad hominem attacks always do more harm to the people who share those characteristic then the individual you intend to cause harm to or discredit

Aeducan fam gather- so taking into account what Gorim says about thr Proving's in f!Aeducan's honor being made with hope some noble will sweep her of her feet... how high were the chances that it was actually Harrowmont and Endrin trying to set her up with one of Harrowmont nephews?
Argument in favor- think how funny it would be if king Endrin was doing all this to make sure his favourite child marries into his best bro's family and it all goes unnoticed while his heir Trian is doing his best to impress one girl and failing miserably.

Working in a bakery during the Mardi Gras season is strange and morbid.
I keep finding small babies on the floor.

thinking about my ancestors on pancake day while i eat well, as per usual.
i think back to my ancestors 300 years ago. some were already settlers on others' land, and some lived in the British Isles and some in Bohemia and many doubtless in other parts of Europe. 300 years is around 15 generations, 2¹⁵ ancestors--that's 32 THOUSAND people. obviously the real number is smaller because of pedigree collapse (people marrying 2nd or 5th or 10th cousins) but still. all those people in the world i am descended from! some were not good people, but many of them were good, or tried to be. they were fishermen and servants and merchants and prostitutes, queers and bastards and priests and cowherds. there were so many! it boggles the mind.
