Kay's comments: As much as we all love stories where A-Yuan is immediately on-board when it comes to getting a new father, sometimes, the opposite is also fun. In this story, we have single father Wei Wuxian, who stars dating Lan Wangji, but unfortunately, Wei Yuan is not very fond of this development. Will Lan Wangji be able to win over Wei Yuan or will his new relationship with Wei Wuxian crumble before it got really started, because for Wei Wuxian, his son always comes first? Mentions of Past Wei Wuxian/Others, so skip that story, if you're not fond of that, though I highly recommend giving it a go anyways, because it's such a great story. Excerpt: That was the problem. Not that his dad was happy. But how very happy he had become in just a few weeks. Meanwhile, Lan-xiansheng gave nothing away. He was quiet and stoic the way dad could never be. Dad was loud and laughed freely, lived his life in the fast lane, always moving, never still. He was much like a hurricane, like thunder and lightning, a desert storm, a blizzard under the northern lights. In turn, Lan-xiansheng was like a mountain, motionless and quiet, always the same. Wei Yuan understood, on an intellectual level, that to someone like that his dad was novel, new and exciting. He worried what would happen when the excitement faded and 'new' turned into 'old'. People who were such polar opposites never stayed together. And if they did, they were never happy. Wei Yuan wanted his dad not only to be happy, but also stay happy. What Wei Yuan decidedly didn't want was his dad to experience another heartbreak.

One time, when we were kids, my friend and I were playing the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, and I was whooping his ass, and he had accepted that he was going to lose, but decided to go out with a bang, so right before he drew, he shouted “I put my faith in the heart of the cards!” and wound up drawing the one card in his deck that would completely derail my strategy and he actually won that duel and that’s why I don’t laugh at these things anymore.

I always knew he was one of those wonderful team dads, but I never really cared as much. But now he's a warm spot next to my heart and I just wanted you to know that. Fun fact: In the latest chapter of "Wreath", the kids come back from Okita's "Happy-Singles-No-Couples-Welcome-Christmas-Luncheon-Party" and Kondou gave the cake he baked with them because he knows Shinpachi likes it

Loved this story - it had humor, sadness, redemption, and joy in it. I liked that no character just had an easy way out. They had to deal with the situation and the consequences of their actions. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

"Jie." She shared a look with her brother and then sighed again.

"As a-Ning said, you're welcome here as long as you want, whether that's weeks or years." She had changed her tone into something kinder and all of a sudden Wei Ying had to swallow around a lump that he had no idea how had gotten there. "However, if you have the chance at something better, you should seize it."

"As if anyone could ever measure up," he croaked, voice brittle and immediately found himself wrapped in two sets of arms, one strong and warm, the other firm and dependable.

"Yeah." Wei Ying chuckled, the sound coming in small huffs. "I wanted to ask, how are you real. Tell me Lan Zhan, how did someone like you come into being?"

There were probably a thousand ways Lan Zhan could answer that. Out of all of them, the one answer that came to him made the corners of his mouth twitch. Wei Ying didn't notice.

"I believe," Lan Zhan said slowly. "That my parents had unprotected intercourse, and…"

He didn't get to finish for the howl of laughter that broke out of Wei Ying, but that was alright. He had achieved his goal.

"You ridiculous dumbo!" Wei Ying shoved him away with enough force to separate them, but not enough for Lan Zhan to believe he was serious. "You ruined it! We were having a moment, Lan Zhan! Unbelievable!"

Summary:

Lan Xichen is a pediatrician who often treats child abuse cases for various foster homes, orphanages and social workers for free. He's currently looking for a second nurse because Luo Qingyang is freshly back from maternal leave and can't be expected to work full time with a baby on hand and none of her substitutes were up to the task. Enter Wei Ying with a semester worth of med school, stellar recommendations, a huge gap in his CV and a laugh bright and warm as the sun.

Skeptical at first, Xichen decides to give the man a chance. He gets more than he bargained for with exactly zero regrets.

A notebook filled with scribbles and thoughts, there’s some class notes in there, mayhaps. Some loose change, perhaps a receipt or 2. My wallet (it’s red and nerdy). Probably a book and my laptop.

Hmm, BOOKS. That’s it. That’s the list.  The color of the sky at dusk. Southern Style fried chicken. Animals. The scent of the earth after it’s rained.

I need to finish typing up my book and several fan fictions, draft a map of my book’s world, swing by the post office, and finish reading my library books. 

Future to-do list: Obtain fluency in German, obtain passable fluency (at least reading/hearing level) in Danish, Japanese, and Korean. Visit Scotland again. Graduate. Get my book published.

Did this for the amazing @polkadotdragonx in honor of her Untamed+Firefly Fusion fic Burn the Land and Boil the Sea (you can’t take my son from me) which all of you need to go and read. 

The idea was opening credits + the crew. Originally they were supposed to be gifs, but then I realized the time I’d need to put in that, so just stills for now. Maybe at a later date I will redo them into gifs. I wanted to finish them all today but then my energy levels wavered so it’s just the Jiangs for now. Rest will come this week, possibly.

Hi momjo! In your last ficfinder there was a fic by Haysel "The Doc of the Bay" which I read and liked. It was a part of a series that I wanted to read later, so I bookmarked it but when I logged in today I found out it has been deleted! I usually save fics I like but only once I've read them, and I planned saving this one so I'm now super dejected. I'm reaching out to see if anyone of your followers (or you?) has it backed up? Thank you!

Oh, no!  Does anyone know what happened to this one?  The author has deleted their entire account.  Oh, this is so sad.

I want to remind everyone again, please be kind to your authors.  They are doing this because they love it:  they are not professionals, nor are they vending machines.  They are humans, and you have no idea what’s going on their life.  If you don’t have something nice to say, then please just quietly back out of the fic and say nothing.

Awww thanks for sharing this ask meme with me, it’s so positive! A year ago I probably wouldn’t even have been able to give you an answer because I was in such a dark place and full of too much self-loathing, but I’m doing much better these days and I think I can take a crack at this!

Things I like about myself, in no particular order:

1. I’m compassionate and caring. I genuinely care about other people. I want to help others and I like seeing people happy and smiling. This most definitely includes you, Xy!!!

2. I’m tenacious. If I genuinely want to get something done, I can stick to it and see it through. Sometimes the going is slow, but I know I can get through. It took me a long time to graduate university because I got so sick in the middle of it, but I did it! I went back and finally finished!

3. I’m independent. This is honestly one of my favourite things about myself. It’s not that I’m too stubborn to ask for help when I need it, it’s more that I’ve never really had much help available to me and yet I’ve accomplished so many things anyway! I moved away from home, worked hard, and put myself through university without any help, and then I moved to Japan and I’m living here more or less on my own. I love knowing that even when things are tough, I CAN DO IT!!

4. I’m creative/resourceful/adaptable. I used to have so much anxiety and at one point I kind of let it control my life, and while I still do have anxiety I’m getting a better hold on it. The job I have now requires me to be quite adaptable, and you need to be creative when you’re living in a new country that uses a language you don’t speak. There are so many things I was anxious about that I figured my way around! I’m slowly starting to learn to trust my own abilities a little bit more. I’m pretty capable, I can make things work, so I need to stop being so afraid of fucking everything up. I won’t.

5. My sense of humour. I love that I can make people laugh. I’m feeling a bit disconnected from this part of myself lately because the language barrier can be an obstacle sometimes, but I’m studying Japanese very seriously (I study every day.) My goal is to one day be as funny in Japanese as I am in English lmao. (It’ll take years to get there but that’s where my tenacity kicks in!)
