Transfem Soda h/cs

-She keeps the name Sodapop.

-She worries sometimes that Mom and Dad would be disappointed in her, to which Pony or Darry will remind her that “Mom and Dad always said they wanted a girl, they’d be proud.”

-She loves to dress all feminine and whatever, but on a day to day basis she dresses more or less like she always has.

-Tulsa is big enough that outside of their neighborhood/school, most people don’t know her as she was before. So on dates, Steve likes to take her to the other side of town, away from all the people who know her as “Soda the boy”. She loves it, it’s so freeing to have folks see her as herself. 

-Speaking of Steve- he’d just finally accepted that he was gay when Soda started experimenting w/ gender stuff. (Turns out he wasn’t gay, he was bi and so in love with Soda that he couldn’t like anyone else, girl or guy.) But it definitely sends him spiraling into another crisis for a bit- he’s supposed to be gay, why’s the thought of Soda as a chick so hot?!

-Steve’s real supportive tho. Back when Soda was just calling it “crossdressing” he’d buy her things to experiment with- yk, like dresses, heels, makeup, etc. Part of that was selfish since Steve was sorta (very) into it, but it mainly stemmed from an earnest hope that Soda would feel more like herself

-That “crossdressing” phase lasted a few months, so when she eventually did come out to him as a girl, he wasn’t completely surprised. He’s who she came out to first, and it means a lot to him that she trusts him so much.

-Coming out to Darry and Pony tho is…harder. She knows they’ll always love her, but she feels like they’ll see her differently. 

-She tells Darry on accident. She’d just come home from work, feeling shitty because someone called her “such a nice young man”. She was tearing up about it, which made her feel worse, and then Darry showed up, home from work early. He got her to explain what happened, and the interaction went like this:

“Wait…so you don’t want folks to call you nice??”

“...I don’t want them to call me a man…”

Darry hugged her and said “Soda…you got somethin’ you wanna tell me?”

And it was all over from there. She just spilled.

-When Ponyboy gets home, he’s surprised, a little weirded out, but mostly glad Soda’s happy. Neither him or Darry really get it at first, but they know she’s happy so they’re happy. Over time though, they understand more and more, till they understand her as well as she understands herself.

-Coming out to the gang is straightforward enough. Two-Bit started to make an iffy comment as a joke, but Steve threatened him till he shut up. Two-Bit’s supportive though- the way he sees it, the world always needs more hot chicks. Johnny goes to her for advice about girls, which he knows makes her feel validated. And Dally pretty much immediately starts flirting with her, partially out of his instinctual need to harass women and partially because it riles Steve up and Dally likes riling Steve up. Two-Bit flirts with her too- she’s hot, blond, and it pisses Steve off, so yeah, win-win.

-Darry worries about her sometimes. He does the protective older brother bit only half-jokingly, and it sort of annoys Soda because Darry was never this worried about her before she came out. She also sort of likes it, because yk, it feels affirming. So she’s got mixed feelings about that.

-Darry threatens to kill Steve if he hurts her. And sure, Darry did that back when stevepop first got together too, but now it feels even more pointed. Steve is a little scared of Darry in a way that he wasn’t before.

-Ponyboy straight up gaslights Curly Shepard, Mark Jennings, and half the kids at school into thinking Soda was always a girl, just a tomboy. “Jesus, you thought I had two brothers? Hell no, I’ve always had a brother and a sister. Soda just looked like a boy as a kid ‘cos she had to wear Darry’s hand-me-downs you fuckin’ idiots.”

-After seeing Ponyboy’s success at that, Two-Bit, Johnny, Dally, and Steve try to do the same with the other hoods. Tim Shepard doesn’t fall for it, but when Dally begrudgingly explains the situation, Tim supports it too. Not because he particularly likes Soda or trans people as a whole- he actually thinks she’s kind of a freak tbh- but because she’s a Curtis. Darry’s his friend, and she’s Darry’s kid sister. Besides, it’s what he’d do if Angela was trans. (this ain’t a great pov to have obviously! But yk, I’m aiming for realism.)

-Steve is saving up money to get Soda HRT. He hasn’t told her, but everytime he gets five bucks from his dad, it goes to the secret estrogen fund. He tells Darry about it, and Darry starts adding a small portion to it monthly too.

-She looks even more like her mom now. Sometimes, Pony will wake up from a nightmare and in his sleepy haze, he’ll momentarily think she is Mrs. Curtis. He’s never told Soda this before and never will. It’d make her feel guilty, and he doesn’t want that,

-It feels lousy living in Tulsa sometimes, where folks often misgender her and bring her down. So when she and Steve get older, they move to a nearby city where everyone who meets her meets her as Sodapop- Steve’s girlfriend, the Curtis sister, a young woman who’s fantastic with cars and even better with horses.

Carlossainz55 I wasn't supposed to post this, so I'll deal with the consequences of this later, but I have something to tell you guys. I've been seen so many shitty comments on yn's posts, calling her all sort of names that doesn't describe her in the least! She is the most caring, loving, funny, energetic, talkative person I ever met. Everything Rebecca and I can say are good things, and see people that don't know her at all talking shit gives me a headache. Yn say she doesn't care because it is not true, but I now she cares. When You're Holding Onto Everything

A Future Leonardo(RotTMNT) drabble 🐢🟦

The air is still and the room dark by the time the last mourner files out of the room set aside for memorials.

Last person, save for Leonardo.

He's resting against the back wall, having been there from the start. He remains there, as he watches the candles snuff themselves out by drowning in their wax as they reach the ends of their wicks.

Now that no one else was in the room, he could unravel from how guarded he had been. He was not unkind per se, just never distant, and not too open.

Even grieving, he knew that he had to stay solid for his people. Leo had never and likely will never understand how Raph could balance the two so well, while still maintaining and running his division. Raph could be soft and vulnerable, amd all his division still saw him as reliable.

Leo, though?

Leo didn't feel like he could take the same liberties.

Maybe it's because he led their entire group, and was responsible for the headquarters and indirectly all other bases. But no matter what the reason- he felt if he showed how terrified the continuing war and losses made him… they might not see him as able to have and deserve such a responsibility.

Ridiculous, he knew at his core, but it was still a worry in moments like these where he was alone and directly staring down the direct results of his failure. A mission gone sideways with almost the entire team he had sent out coming back in a box or just as tags.

"You realize none of us or the families blame you, correct?"

Leo must have zoned out completely, because the sudden appearance of his twin had him startled so bad that Donatello had to raise his hands in surrender to calm him.

Leo then groaned, passing a hand over his face. But he didn't respond other than that, so Donnie raised his (currently smudged) eyebrows.

"You do know this, correct?" Donnie repeated, leaning in slightly.

Leo drew his mouth tight, looking away as he tried to think of a deflection. Usually he was quick on his feet with these, but he was running on little sleep and this event didn't help.

At the continued lack of response, Donnie quietly sighed before walking over and leaning on the wall next time. Their shoulders touched- flesh to robotics- and the silent show of solitude Leo appreciated somewhere in the back of his head.

They stood like that for long enough that the last vestiges of the routine night time activity outside the room dwindled to just shift changes as everyone else slept on.

Eventually, though, the peace had to be broken.

"So do you know?" Donnie tried yet again.

He was still looking ahead, and in the dim lighting Leo couldn't get a read on Donnie's expression. Which meant that he just had to go with it, since he knew Donnie wouldn't let it go now that he's seemingly fixated on this.

"I… I know it, but…" Leo exhaled sharply, "I'm responsible for everyone. So this is ultimately my failure." Leo's eyes shifted from looking at Donnie to the ceiling instead.

"You know that's a load of-" Donnie started, but Leo cut in and looked back to him.

"It's not. I have the final say on almost everything. So when people die, I feel like I could have done more. And better. It's my fault because I should have done better."

Donnie doesn't immediately respond, just keeps his gaze ahead.

After the silence started to grow uncomfortable, he finally pushed off the wall and stood in front of Leo. Almost in his personal space but not quite.

"So when I organize a high-risk infiltration mission with my division that goes south, do you blame me?" Donnie asks with a neutral tone.

Leo's eyes narrowed, before they relaxed as he knew where Donnie was going with this.

"Of course not. And I know that everyone that goes on a mission is aware of the risks, it's just…" Leo rubs his forehead in frustration. "How can I not feel like it's my fault?"

Donnie closes his eyes for a moment, before eventually opening them again and fixing Leo with an honest and tired expression.

"Look, Leo. I'm not going to stand here and lie that I don't understand that exact thought process. But at the end of the day it's no one's fault but the Krang's. Remember that." Donnie punctuated the end of his statement with a squeeze of Leo's good shoulder.

Leo nodded haltingly, before the words sunk in and he felt some of the tension drain out.

Donnie mirrored the nod, and then left without any further addition. For a good measure, though, he left his hand on Leo's shoulder until he was out of reach and out the door into the hall towards his lab.

It was not long before Leo left as well, still feeling mixed emotions- but now with his anger shifted away for the most part from himself to the Krang.

The ones who took his and his brothers youth from them.

The ones who plunged the world into chaos.

The ones that continued to cause death and destruction everywhere.

Leo felt a new resolve to make sure the war effort would end in their favor. As there is no option of losing for him.

Despite all of this, however, the faces of everyone lost still visit him in his sleep as they do every night.

Just saw a TikTok complaining about fanfics that didn't have "enough dialogue" because "reading more than three sentences" was hard.

I'm not against heavy dialogue-oriented fics; they are fun, but... that's a script. You want to read a fucking script, hope you know that. A writer isn't "bad" because they are... you know, writing. Just say it isn't your thing and move on, but categorize something as "bad" because you lack the ability to fucking read... ain't the author's problem; it seems like a "you" one.

Ray's After Ending is so funny because for a good chunk of it, most of the RFA members are knocked out by V's sleeping gas (Saeran is immune, Saeyoung isn't present bc he was kidnapped by his agency under his father's orders and MC wakes up in like an hour) but the game has a call feature where you can call the characters and it would be a waste if you couldn't use it bc the characters were unavailable so instead they have other people pick up the call (Jumin's driver picks up Jumin's phone, Jumin's father picks up Zen's phone, Yoosung's friends and mom pick up Yoosung's phone and Jaehee's coworkers pick up Jaehee's phone) and we do get to learn about the characters from outsider's point of view but it's so funny to me that these people are visiting their loved ones and suddenly the phone rings and they decide to just. answer it. and start talking to this stranger they've never met

Dawg I work in automating email-job-type-tasks and my coworkers - fellow elder millennials - were STUNNED at my solution to create a dynamic folder name. Not the method of making it dynamic, the part that stunned them was the "run cmd.exe: '/c mkdir [filepath]'" and at the point where I was going "yeah no its not wizardry its just like... a vestigial recreation of MSDOS..." I had to confront that frankly computer literacy has never been more in the toilet.

Telling young zoomers to "just switch to linux" is nuts some of these ipad kids have never even heard of a cmd.exe or BIOS you're throwing them to the wolves
