Hi there! I’m Susanne (she/her), 30+. I work in a library and enjoy being outside, single player video games, and also putting my silly little thoughts on paper, so to speak. I’ve been writing in some form or other since I was a kid, although I’ve never shared much of my original writing online. A lot of fanfic stuff, though. You can still find it if you know where to look. I want to share my original stories as well at some point in the future. No publishing aspirations as this is all for fun.

It's nearly the end of the month and time is flowing in the worst way possible; on one hand way too quickly but on the other painfully slow. My brain for some reason is unable to process anything fictional right now and that means in my new delulu state I am gonna do the stupid act of focus on non fiction for sometime, is this smart possibly not, is it gonna be fun... definitely not. I think right now engrossing myself in fiction feels like a case of burn out and dedicating myself to getting to know characters and deal with stuff I find excruciatingly painful like romance (aro-ace flux go brr)

reading the stack of non-fiction books tho is helping with inspo, especially writing projects or atleast possible ones. But until then it is just me and my goofy notebooks.

I've been having a whole internal conflict wondering if I should get a traveler's notebook, mainly to house all my commonplace notebooks for random hobbies but at the same time the traveler's notebooks are to a locally made one, both are pretty much the same just one is ''from japan''. I might mull over it until I spontaneously throw my money at random products.

i'm in the middle of reading sins of the son and i'm so incredibly inspired by your writing style!! i love the dialogue so much, it's so natural and your characters have amazing chemistry :) i wanted to ask if you have any inspirations? i'd love to get book recs lol

Hi, this is so kind, thank you so much! Fun fact about my writing is that once I know my plot I actually write out my dialogue like a script first and then fill in the rest of the story around it. Anyways this is gonna be a super long answer so I'm focusing on literary inspo/books, but I'm happy to talk more about my non-literary inspirations for sins of the son too! Just lmk.

In my non-online life I actually mainly write poetry, so that's where I draw a lot of inspiration from in terms of style. I love Ada Limón's poetry (Bright Dead Things is my favorite collection of hers, but I would highly recommend The Hurting Kind and The Carrying as well) because her structure resonates so deeply with me: if she poses a question in the first line then she answers it by the end. And she's deeply strategic about imagery. If there's a cat in the poem then that cat means something. I definitely tried to bring that same strategy into sins of the son. If there's a strong image in the first section then I try to work that into the last section too (like the sept in part 1).

Other poets I really love are Hanif Abdurraqib, Anne Carson, Natalie Diaz, and Rainer Maria Rilke.

In terms of prose that I like, Manuel Muñoz's The Consequences is one of the most beautiful short story collections I've ever read. I specifically love how he writes character & location and intertwines those two. Definitely another thing that pops up in my work--I like the setting to feel like its own character. He also writes incredible dialogue. One of his stories (I don't have my book with me rn & can't recall the title) ends with a character saying "Men don't know how to suffer." Which, in the context of the story, is just devastating. I think of that line a lot when I write because it feels like the pinnacle of really earning a solid, powerful line of dialogue.

Also love Carmen Maria Machado's work, she writes through a very magical realism/slightly surreal lens in both her fiction (Her Body and Other Parties) and nonfiction (In the Dream House).

Other books that weren't fic inspo that I'd highly recommend:

-The Incendiaries by R.O. Kwon (themes of religion&guilt do sort of tie in)

-Bone Gap by Laura Ruby (sort of a Hades & Persephone retelling but midwestern gothic & so deeply interesting)

-How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu (spec fic, masterful, I sobbed)

I wanted to start writing fan fictions of my own and stuff (mainly of hsr and some other fandoms) but I'm not sure where to start. Your my number one favourite writer on tumblr and I was just wondering if you had some words of advice on where and how to go about it :) If you don't want to, thats fine as well. for headcanon inspo/writer inspo in general, i would read a lot of romcom books. or watch a lot of romcoms. for me, inspo comes from songs/books/movies/tiktoks i interact with. inspo comes and it goes; don't worry if you don't have constant inspo for new content. just as long as it feels authentic and it's twisted in your own way, then it will be good.

pinterest and spotify are gonna be ur favorite apps. i use pinterest for layouts, aesthetics, cute poetry for inspo, etc. spotify also helps for inspo, for example if you listen to a song u like then u could possibly base a scenario/headcanon/etc off of that. and personally, when i listen to music that fits into a certain scene i'm writing, it really helps me encapsulate the emotions i want in that scene, which in turn makes my writing better (at least to me it does).

if you are writing headcanons/drabbles/etc, make sure it has an aesthetically pleasing layout. what i find that headcanons/drabbles that look more organized usually have more interaction because it looks more aesthetically pleasing and well-rounded. you may want to add colors (using graphics, borders, etc) so that it would appeal more to a reader than no color and blank layout.

be creative with your writing!! literally write whatever you want and i guarantee you at least one person is gonna like it and read that work for life. and don't be discouraged if your works don't get lots of notes the first time. the tumblr algorithm is messed up.

some other short notes

no need to have a masterlist so early. u may want to have at least 2 or 3 works published before u create a masterlist. masterlists don't have to be on the same level as van gogh on levels of creativity, so don't stress tm abt that.

if ur ever thinking abt letting ppl request, don't be too hard on urself if u can't finish them. at the end of the day, you are writing for urself. prioritize yourself.

take care of urself while writing. writing takes time and effort and brainpower (ugh), so if ur ever feeling burnt out, don't be so hard on yourself bc writing is hella work

don't compare yourself to other writers. your writing is your writing and it's so special because of that. ur writing is already so amazing bc YOU ARE THE ONE WRITING IT

first I'd like to say that I adoreeee the diplomacy au to bitsss (gives me hope for my future<33) I am wodering if you're using like your own experiences for inspo/ basing it off the way it kinda works for whatever country you're from or its mostly imaginary? as a fellow IR survivor and current victim of embassy internships, it's soooo different from what I have seen (ofc this is a work of fiction but like where I've interned it was so rare to speak with the Ambassador 1on1 bcz you're just some random kid, to let alone go on vacation with him) so I'm like curious if it's maybe different where you're from or you're just playing it up for the sake of entertainment? sorry for the long ask lmao <333

heyyy!! thank you SO MUCH for this ask and I feel absolutely giddy about the fact that a fellow IR survivor reads my shit 🧡 (and also scared I'm going to write something incredibly lame) So, I originally started writing from my Parisian experience. But of course, you are totally right about the reality of being an intern - I've rarely ever seen our ambassador and our communication mostly consisted of the cringiest mails one can imagine (from HIS side). However, as I said here, my supervisor was the loveliest woman who really pushed me to do my best and gave me a lot of lessons about being a woman in the diplomatic world. We often had lunch/dinner together + with her husband (who was our economic diplomat and the funniest lad) and kept in touch after I left and she helped me a lot with my thesis. So it wasn't the ambassador directly but a diplomat nonetheless who took me under their wing and guided me through what definitely was the worst year of my life so far. BUT I heard some crazy stories from smaller (like 5 staff members small) embassies where the ambassadors are all buddy buddy with the interns and frequently take them out etc. just because they are so bored in their designated countries lmao. (my country is small and has some small-ass embassies, mainly in Africa) So yes, Anne/Max thingy is all made up and only here for the plot lmao. In this story, it's Daniel's situation (he has no idea if there are any interns at his embassy at the moment) which is the og real one. How is your internship going??? I need the gossip bestie 👀

☆ hi, welcome to my blog! you can call me anything but online i usually go by flower and my pronouns are she/her. and i also have sensory processing disorder and social anxiety.

☆ i mainly write sci-fi and dystopian, with some low fantasy on the side. I write both prose and poetry, though i lean heavily toward prose. Most of my work is ya, but i want to write middle grade/childrens one day.

☆ i like being tagged in writing tag games! not the writing tag game days, though so no sts/worldbuilding wensday please!

Being my main project and the biggest in scope, this game will most likely stay in the Ongoing tab for a long time (potentially years). I have 5 Acts planned (with maybe intermissions in between) of varying size. Each update will include a new Scene in the current Act.

This is a joint project with MelS (writer) and me (everything else) that started during summer 2021. MelS dabbled with the idea of creating a story based on Lovecraftian lore/vibe. Since he is much busy than I am, the project took quite some time to get off the ground. Since Lovecraftian lore gives me the creep and MelS can't code, it was obvious who would do what.

The Demo was released with the Prologue and the 2 first Chapters (out of planned 10-ish chapters)!

The progress on this project depends mainly on how much/when MelS can work on it. Updates will probably be scarce because of this.

QUEST TOWN (working title)

Idea: You are a beginner adventurer on the road to greatness and treasure. Along the way, you encounter people needing your help, promising you worthwhile rewards for your help.

I would want to have some sort of RPG game as an interactive story, with stats, level up, going back and forth between places. I already know that it will involve a lot of difficult coding, that I am not yet ready for. I think I will first create the quests/NPC and where they are placed in the setting before worrying about that.

OTHER IDEAS

I have a bunch more ideas from very different genres (incl. a multi-MC based on a Mozart opera and a horror one in a fake Ikea). There are also multiple Comps and Jams I am interested in participating. But I am trying to pace myself considering how many projects I have ongoing. I have learned that I can't over abuse my hands or I won't be able to do anything for a while (yay carpal tunnel).
