I wanted to start writing fan fictions of my own and stuff (mainly of hsr and some other fandoms) but I'm not sure where to start. Your my number one favourite writer on tumblr and I was just wondering if you had some words of advice on where and how to go about it :) If you don't want to, thats fine as well. Love your works so much!

for headcanon inspo/writer inspo in general, i would read a lot of romcom books. or watch a lot of romcoms. for me, inspo comes from songs/books/movies/tiktoks i interact with. inspo comes and it goes; don't worry if you don't have constant inspo for new content. just as long as it feels authentic and it's twisted in your own way, then it will be good.

pinterest and spotify are gonna be ur favorite apps. i use pinterest for layouts, aesthetics, cute poetry for inspo, etc. spotify also helps for inspo, for example if you listen to a song u like then u could possibly base a scenario/headcanon/etc off of that. and personally, when i listen to music that fits into a certain scene i'm writing, it really helps me encapsulate the emotions i want in that scene, which in turn makes my writing better (at least to me it does).

if you are writing headcanons/drabbles/etc, make sure it has an aesthetically pleasing layout. what i find that headcanons/drabbles that look more organized usually have more interaction because it looks more aesthetically pleasing and well-rounded. you may want to add colors (using graphics, borders, etc) so that it would appeal more to a reader than no color and blank layout.

be creative with your writing!! literally write whatever you want and i guarantee you at least one person is gonna like it and read that work for life. and don't be discouraged if your works don't get lots of notes the first time. the tumblr algorithm is messed up.

some other short notes

no need to have a masterlist so early. u may want to have at least 2 or 3 works published before u create a masterlist. masterlists don't have to be on the same level as van gogh on levels of creativity, so don't stress tm abt that.

if ur ever thinking abt letting ppl request, don't be too hard on urself if u can't finish them. at the end of the day, you are writing for urself. prioritize yourself.

take care of urself while writing. writing takes time and effort and brainpower (ugh), so if ur ever feeling burnt out, don't be so hard on yourself bc writing is hella work

don't compare yourself to other writers. your writing is your writing and it's so special because of that. ur writing is already so amazing bc YOU ARE THE ONE WRITING IT

write whatever tf u want. if other ppl don't appreciate it then it's their loss

hey! so i just started reading through superboy '94 and idk exactly how to explain this but like. i like the comic itself but it's really hard to enjoy it bc there's so much of older women hitting on kon. i've read issues zero, one, and two for context. i think i want to read through more of it but does it ever stop having so much of that? bc so far it's really uncomfortable watching like 3 people that're way older than kon hit on him and the narrative not really address it in a significant way (so far)

unfortunately, that won't go away for a hot minute (until about halfway through the run). kesel is like... trying to fulfill the "teen boy fantasy" of dating a ~hot older woman~ and unfortunately, it can be really hard to read because he doesn't seem to comprehend that tana grooming kon, is, like, a bad thing.

as for knockout, i will say the culmination of her arc and everything she does to kon is fascinating to analyze in some respects (though still hard to read!). because she is a villain, she does manipulate kon, and the narrative acknowledges that she lies and uses him in a way that is deeply hurtful to him. in some ways this arc reads so intentionally like a story about abuse that i find it hard to believe kesel didn't intend it as exactly that; in other ways i'm like wait no never mind he's an idiot, i don't know. (it's sort of like everything surrounding blockbuster+tarantula in nightwing '96: the guy it happened to reacts realistically like someone who's abused/traumatized would, and it really does read like A Trauma Response, but the rest of the characters in the narrative don't really treat it or the character it happened to like they would if the story was gonna acknowledge that they have any sort of sexual trauma.)

overall i kind of regard this part of sb94 like. almost a horror story? where we're sitting on the outside banging on the glass like NO GET AWAY FROM HIM but he doesn't even realize they're monsters. i also personally kind of interpret it like how kon sees the situations; he doesn't realize anything is wrong, so the narrative doesn't acknowledge anything is wrong. it's unreliable narration. (kesel did not mean this; kesel wanted us to like tana, lmao. but this is kinda how i take it and run with it.)

Here's a small guide on how I make my object ocs! First of all, are you emulating a more show-like characters or a self-indulgent characters?

Because i can't help with the latter, I'm more of the former.

1. Analyze the objects

Blood Pack is a medical equipment used to restore improve blood in the body.

So i made Blood Pack into a medical student who suffers from Anemia and Hemophilia, while also playing around with visuals of a vampire/demon with his red color scheme.

2. Use puns and wordplay in design!

3. "Accesory or clothing?"

Depending on the setting.

Modern City folks looks better with one to accentuate their city-moderny-ness.

But you can just use small accessories

Don't clutter, be mindful and just add enough to show off their object/story/personality

Food and Drinks are the easiest to design to have accessories

...alongside plants!

Leaves are very versatile

It really depends on how much you can utilize their objects by making accessories that fit them

i love your fic so much. really heavy on explanatory dialouge which isnt super common for me but i dont mind it because it really aloows the reader to crawl into lusi's head and understand exactly why shes presenting how she is and also inspires that same intruige that logan has that makes them want to know in the first place. that companion art piece really drives home exactly why all the characters are so adamant about them getting together at some point soon. i like the way both lusi and logan wrestle with parts of themselves that they dont want crawling back out without defining it as not a part of them - while lusi in the later chapters was under the influence and not well, shes very firm about just how skewed her direction has been and how she's allowed it to get there. really like the way the fic grapples with the question of bodily autonomy for someone who is not only physically disabled but also mentally struggling and at risk. 10/10 awesome fic hope its ok i came into ur ask box abt it. also fucking LOVE your take on Logan might suck up some of it for my own writing not like. not to say rahhh im going to copy your shit just that i really admire how you construct him as impulsive but considerate and also that he was a fucking douche of a teen really really like that writing choice
