I wanted to start writing fan fictions of my own and stuff (mainly of hsr and some other fandoms) but I'm not sure where to start. Your my number one favourite writer on tumblr and I was just wondering if you had some words of advice on where and how to go about it :) If you don't want to, thats fine as well. Love your works so much!

for headcanon inspo/writer inspo in general, i would read a lot of romcom books. or watch a lot of romcoms. for me, inspo comes from songs/books/movies/tiktoks i interact with. inspo comes and it goes; don't worry if you don't have constant inspo for new content. just as long as it feels authentic and it's twisted in your own way, then it will be good.

pinterest and spotify are gonna be ur favorite apps. i use pinterest for layouts, aesthetics, cute poetry for inspo, etc. spotify also helps for inspo, for example if you listen to a song u like then u could possibly base a scenario/headcanon/etc off of that. and personally, when i listen to music that fits into a certain scene i'm writing, it really helps me encapsulate the emotions i want in that scene, which in turn makes my writing better (at least to me it does).

if you are writing headcanons/drabbles/etc, make sure it has an aesthetically pleasing layout. what i find that headcanons/drabbles that look more organized usually have more interaction because it looks more aesthetically pleasing and well-rounded. you may want to add colors (using graphics, borders, etc) so that it would appeal more to a reader than no color and blank layout.

be creative with your writing!! literally write whatever you want and i guarantee you at least one person is gonna like it and read that work for life. and don't be discouraged if your works don't get lots of notes the first time. the tumblr algorithm is messed up.

some other short notes

no need to have a masterlist so early. u may want to have at least 2 or 3 works published before u create a masterlist. masterlists don't have to be on the same level as van gogh on levels of creativity, so don't stress tm abt that.

if ur ever thinking abt letting ppl request, don't be too hard on urself if u can't finish them. at the end of the day, you are writing for urself. prioritize yourself.

take care of urself while writing. writing takes time and effort and brainpower (ugh), so if ur ever feeling burnt out, don't be so hard on yourself bc writing is hella work

don't compare yourself to other writers. your writing is your writing and it's so special because of that. ur writing is already so amazing bc YOU ARE THE ONE WRITING IT

make sure u have cute layout (for profile AND works)

write whatever tf u want. if other ppl don't appreciate it then it's their loss

Here's a small guide on how I make my object ocs! First of all, are you emulating a more show-like characters or a self-indulgent characters?

Because i can't help with the latter, I'm more of the former.

1. Analyze the objects

Blood Pack is a medical equipment used to restore improve blood in the body.

So i made Blood Pack into a medical student who suffers from Anemia and Hemophilia, while also playing around with visuals of a vampire/demon with his red color scheme.

2. Use puns and wordplay in design!

3. "Accesory or clothing?"

Depending on the setting.

Modern City folks looks better with one to accentuate their city-moderny-ness.

But you can just use small accessories

Don't clutter, be mindful and just add enough to show off their object/story/personality

Food and Drinks are the easiest to design to have accessories

...alongside plants!

Leaves are very versatile

It really depends on how much you can utilize their objects by making accessories that fit them

Swirly hair for cotton candy alongside a caramel bowtie Maid outfit being a feather duster's feathers Calender's glasses being circle marks used to mark a date Carol Bell using ribbons and leaves to show her christmas-theming Rice having a chopstick.

4. Personality

When making a character, it's usually best to base it on their design. However... you can go straight like

any opinions/thoughts on tana and kon’s relationship?

i think ive said my thoughts on it a while ago so i'll just try to be brief here, but dc, especially older dc comics, just has a weird problem with underage romances

i think it was generally seen as "cool" to date older women back then, and its still a mindset present today with some people, but it does make it hard to read some of these old comics because of how uncomfortable it feels. i just think it's unfortunate because tana could have been a cool Polynesian character who teaches kon about humanity, but the writers had to be weird about it and make her an older woman rather than idk the same age which just sours the whole thing. i especially get uncomfy when other characters in the comic point out the age gap, only for the comic to immediately brush over it. the constant naming of "kid" and pointing out of kon's immaturity as if he wasn't literally 16 then was also :T

i also think that tana is a result of fetishization by the writers part, and there's just a pattern in older comics of women being hyper sexualized and used to act out writers' weird ass sexual fantasies (see the several instances just involving the batfam alone) which just makes me more frustrated with writers and editorial than anything else really. of course, it is interesting to take the story and add depth that the writers clearly didn't originally plan for but yeahhh that stuff is mostly left for fans to deal with. incomic that relationship definitely would leave kon with complex trauma and then for meta analysis i just really hate dc writers for pulling this shit in this first place and doing it more than once without ever addressing the problem--it leaves a sour taste in my mouth

also, frankly, because knockout being written as a villain (and her manipulation of kon being thereby allowed to be acknowledged by the narrative, albeit only in a very limited sense) is different from tana being written as a completely uncritical love interest. was racism a factor in tana's writing? certainly! doesn't mean that the relationship between her and kon wasn't still abusive and predatory without being ever acknowledged as such. moreover tana was around for significantly more of the entire run than knockout was. simply put there is more to be said about her.

Yesterday was really nice, some of the most memorable parts are that my team won à la pétanque (and I did contribute to the victory so I was happy with it), discovered a nice little pizza place in my hometown that’s actually owned by real Neapolitans (and Sicilians), got a little bag of chocolates and candies, and also it was finally the first day it got really warm since I got here
