Okay mini life update since I’m about halfway through my gap year….
#so I don’t really know where to start#anyway for the past like 3ish months I’ve been very radio silence :|#mainly because of work#but also I’ve been busy doing uni interviews/prepping for them#I’m very much a person who likes to dedicate their time on something#and give it my undivided attention#so that’s why I’ve been slacking on giving updates and why my drafts keep on building up 💀#anyway i digress#exciting news I’m going to uni!!!!#and I’m going to do vet med with a foundation year :)))#it’s going to be a long six years#but I’m so excited to start my course#I found out like last week but it took so long#since I did the interview in mid feb and they said I would find out mid March#so when it got past mid march I was loosing hope 😭😭😭#anyway I’m so relieved that the uni process is over and I can’t wait for september to come#it’s going to be a really big adjustment going from my small city to a pretty big city but I’m sure I’ll cope#some other updates#work still sucks but it’s only for a couple months#then I see if I can talk to my manger about working when I’m on holidays#some other exciting news I’m going travelling in about 3 weeks so I’m very excited about that#and after this I might do one more trip maybe …#gatherrambles#gathertalks#thegapyeardiaries

Amity Parkers are super good at dealing with superhero and villain battles, getting out of the rubble, helping others get out, etc.
This doesn’t shock anyone. There’s so many cities that consistently deal with superhuman battles that millions of people around the world are used to it and know what to do during a battle. Hell, there’s even government standard safety drills in schools about villain attacks now.
They didn’t stand out for a long long while among crowds of other city goers trying to flee a battle scene.
That was until a green glowing android appeared out of nowhere defeating heroes and villains alike because their abilities were rare enough to be hunted by this mysterious newcomer. So far no known weapon is able to hit the being while intangible.
That is until one unassuming citizen pulls out a strange wrist ray contraption that seems to actually stun the creature for a few seconds.
NOW all eyes are on these citizens that once lived in Amity Park
#I politely request no liminal amity parkers for this just because it’s more fun if they’re just regular folks who kick ass#they don’t need any assistance they’re just used to this bs just like every other superhero city civilians#seriously guys!!! having some people be able to equally deal with attacks isn’t a shocker! there’s so many heroes in America alone#what IS unique is the big bads that are battling!! use amity parks mainly ghost bad guy roster to your advantage!!! l#it could be so much fun to work with#dpxdc#danny phantom#bones prompts#dp x dc

Someone needs to do an analysis on the way the Kung Fu Panda movies use old-fashioned vs. modern language ("Panda we meet at last"/"Hey how's it going") and old-fashioned vs. modern settings (forbidden-city-esque palaces/modern-ish Chinese restaurant) to indicate class differences in their characters, and how those class differences create underlying tensions and misunderstandings.
#This is neither a criticism nor a compliment of that artistic choice#I just think it's really interesting#Like even looking at the Five:#Tigress talks in an older style than the others because she was mainly raised at the Jade Palace#While Mantis talks like Joe-schmo off the street because he *was* a streetfighter and an ordinary guy#Shifu and even Tai Lung talk like they're from an old-fashioned novel or kung fu movie#Po talks like a modern guy you'd meet working in a twenty-first century family restaurant#Part of Tigress's initial disdain for him in the first movie is clearly because she considers him to be low-class/a commoner#(And therefore an intruder into the world of the Jade Palace and the rest of the Kung Fu masters which appears to be semi-noble).#Shen looks genuinely off-put and disgusted when he has to respond to Po's greeting with a “...hey.”#And when Po wants to appear more legitimate as a warrior he adopts a more “legendary”/old-fashioned way of speaking.#In the aesthetic language of KFP old fashioned=noble/upper class and modern=common/lower class.#This translates entirely naturally—I think especially to an American audience—but it is wild once you notice it#Because you realize: “Hang on—shouldn't *all* these characters be talking like they're living in the medieval era?”#“And what does it mean that they're not? What is the movie attempting to convey with this—probably entirely subconscious—artistic choice?”#kung fu panda

I offer the frankly hilarious scenario of zenos and estinien having to work together (probably because of tataru) and a little bit of headcanon-ing I have in regards to the one main issue they run in to when theyre a duo.

Mikey and Leo episode centered around Mikey wanting to push Leo and Draxum together since Leo’s the most reluctant to give Draxum any grace (for good reason!) But, thinking on the spot, Leo says he’s gotta go do something for Hueso and “just can’t hang out right now 😔” (yes, he says the emoji out loud.)
Mikey calls his bluff and now the three of them (Mikey having grabbed a weary Draxum along) go to Hueso’s to find that yes, he actually does have a job for him. Said job asks for Leo to go with Hueso to deliver multiple pizzas to this giant yokai quite a distance away, and Hueso figured it would probably go better with Leo’s help (emphasis on probably.)
Well, Mikey decides that this would be a great bonding opportunity for them and basically invites he and Draxum along. Unfortunately for Leo, Hueso doesn’t care enough to wave away more help, though he does side-eye the wanted criminal Baron Draxum coming with them. But who is he to judge? (This choice has consequences.)
The journey goes about as terribly as you’d expect, but at least the pizzas get delivered on time.

Hueso#Draxum is trying mainly for Mikey’s sake#Hueso is too tired to care about all this family drama but is reluctantly worried about Pepino#Mikey just wants one big happy family because - that’s just easier y’know?#he tries so hard to work with everyone’s emotions that he just wants things to be easy for once#he wants love and family to be easier than it is - than has BEEN lately#gimme that heart to heart Mikey & Leo moment in this regard#by the end Leo DOES raise Draxum up a bit from ‘complete distrust’ to ‘mild side-eye’#but it’s a long ways off if he ever gets pushed into the family tier#and also#SO MUCH SLAPSTICK COMEDY and sarcastic comedy in this episode fr#and if you’re wondering-#yes they DO fight the Yokai monster they’re delivering the pizzas to#but they get paid so it’s whatever#kinda wanna attempt to copy the style of the show and make fake screenshots of this ‘episode’ ngl

mentioned Ibe in the previous post so in case anyone doesn't know him he is a doctor who makes medical illustrations showing black people.
and my personal favourite:
#dengue one is personal yeah I got comments on how at least it doesn't look so bad on my skin#because lighskin as I am rash still looks more brown than bright pink on me. but we associate it with the bright pink spots#even if it's mainly pardas and black women catching it so yeah it changed something in me seeing a black man in the drawing#it's not by him I think the illustrator is a woman doctor even but his association does have a drawing of a black woman bit by a mosquito#which isn't something I expected myself to be so excited and emotional about but. yeah#my first contact with him was in one of my classes in college about publishing school materials#and fuck if it didn't solidify a lot of reflection about the images that go on textbooks#which yes. includes women only appearing if the condition is exclusively of the female sex in this#but fuck if his work didn't make me cry. I'm an educator and the daughter of a black healthcare professional. and I never thought about it#how every single anatomical drawing I had seen in my life and even photographs of medical conditions. had been of white people#I come from a predominantly black family with a history of skin cancer dammit. I had never questioned it. part of me was embarrassed of me
