Orientation went by quickly, and Weiss met a few of the other students attending. The one that really stood out to her was Pyrrha, the untouchable champion hailing from the kingdom of Mistral. Pyrrha was everything she had wanted in a partner: strong, smart, dependable… The two of them would certainly become a powerful team if they could manage to partner up with each other.
Though getting a moment to talk to her about being partners proved to be more difficult than she thought. The first hurdle to get past was Jaune. For whatever reason, Pyrrha seemed to enjoy being near him and trying to get a moment to talk to her seemed harder than expected. And then there was initiation. With only a few hours between meeting other students, taking a tour of the campus, and then being led to the cliff side that stood above the nearby forest didnt leave a lot of time to talk to many people.
So all she could do was watch as Pyrrha took her spot and got ready, trying to calculate how easily it’d be to find her once they were launched. If she kept an eye on Pyrrha, she might have a chance-
“Please make sure you are ready with your landing strategies,” Ozpin said as he made his way down the line of students. “And remember, your goal is to find the relics in the center of the forest. Grimm will stand in your way, however, keep vigilant. The goal isnt to kill grimm, but to survive.”
“L-landing strategy?” Jaune asked. “What do you mean by a ‘landing strategy’?”
Who doesnt know what a landing strategy is? Weiss thought to herself as she adjusted the positioning of her feet. She had practiced hers enough that she could do it blindfolded. But that didnt seem to calm her as much as she’d hoped. Her heart raced and her fingers tightened around the hilt of her blade as she stared out over the forest in anticipation.
Ozpin ignored the question and continued to speak. “If you find a grimm that you do not feel you can defeat, running is always an option. Additionally, we do have professional huntsmen watching the initiation closely to make sure everyone will remain safe.”
The sound of the first student being launched nearly made Weiss’s heart stop. She glanced out of the corner of her eye as she watched the next few students get launched. Her breath slowed and she focused on herself, waiting for her platform to send her into the air. The wait was excruciating, almost like waiting for the prick of a needle when getting a shot or the sharp pain of getting a piercing.
And then it was her turn.
The wind rushed through her hair as she was launched, eyes focused on the forest below. She muttered to herself, running through the steps that she needed to make sure her landing strategy was perfect. “Create glyphs like stepping stones as I fall. Create glyphs like stepping stones as I fall.”
Weiss created a glyph under her feet to try to step on to start her descent from falling to running… only to miss the glyph she created. In a panic, she tried again, creating the glyph a little higher and as a slant. This time, as her feet touched the glyph, she could still feel the wind pressing against her, wanting to keep her going. It wasnt until she felt a burning in her eyes and caught the reflection of small flames that she realized that she was the one who had been controlling the wind.
She lingered in the air as she took a few breaths to let the flames in her eyes die down while she created a few glyphs to start making her way down towards the forest. Her eyes darted as she looked for any sign of Pyrrha, not quite sure when she lost track of her. That didnt matter. Just as long as she could get back down to the forest floor, she could try to track the girl she wanted to be partners with.
Each step Weiss took became faster than the last as she descended from the air, using her glyphs to try to reach the ground as quickly as she could. She’d already spent more time than she had wanted making her landing and she was losing time to find Pyrrha. She had to find Pyrrha.
She finally stepped on the ground, eyes focused on the path in front of her as she pushed through brush. She kept moving as quickly as she could until she ran into Ruby once more, slamming into her when she couldnt skid to a stop quick enough.
“W-Weiss!” Ruby yelled out once she picked herself up. “Are you okay?”
Weiss nodded and groaned as she stood up. “I thought I told you to watch where you were going.”
“I was.” Ruby dusted off her skirt and then extended her hand to Weiss. “But I didnt expect for you to be making your way through the forest as if you were running for your life. But I guess that means we’re going to be partners now.”
Weiss shook her head and pushed Ruby’s hand away. “We’re not partners. I need to go find Pyrrha-”
“But Ozpin said that our partner will be whoever we look at eye to eye first. And, well, I found you first.”
“But he didnt say anything like that!”
“He did right after talking about the landing strategies.”
Weiss paused for a moment to try to remember. Of course she didnt pay attention to that tidbit, she was too focused on Pyrrha to worry about what Ozpin had said. She huffed and started to walk past Ruby. “We are not partners because I didnt look at you eye to eye. So you’ll have to find someone else.”
“But that’s against the rules!” Ruby yelled out.
And I dont care, Weiss thought to herself as she made her way forward, hoping to find Pyrrha. All that mattered was finding Pyrrha and becoming the power team she needed in order to be the best huntress in training at Beacon. She pulled back the branches on a bush as she stepped around a tree only to find-
Jaune. Of course it was Jaune.
Telling one person that she didnt want to be partners was fine, but avoiding a second… she couldnt risk any of the professors watching over call her out for breaking the rules like that. After making sure he didnt see her, she slowly turned around and made her way to Ruby. “Alright, fine, we’re partners.”
Ruby paused for a moment. “I thought you didnt-”
“Do not make me regret this,” Weiss said as she took hold of Ruby’s arm. “This is fine. Our teams will be made up of four people, so all I have to do is find Pyrrha with whoever she ends up with as a partner and I can still make my plan work.”
“Your plan?” Ruby asked.
“You dont need to worry about that. All I need you to do is not slow me down.”
“I’d never slow you down!” Ruby said as she zipped past Weiss with her semblance. “I’m as fast as they come!”
Weiss paused for a moment as her fingers closed around a fistful of rose petals. This was not how she wanted her first year of training to be.

1ST / 2ND / 3RD / 4TH / PREV
"Honestly, can't you do anything right?!"
"I'm trying, okay?" Ruby whimpered after yet another of Weiss' 'honest criticisms' as she called them. Really, they were just Weiss yelling for about a half an hour. And it ended the same way, too.
"Well stop trying and start doing!" Weiss then stomped away, leaving Ruby alone in the dorm, yet again.
This wasn't what Ruby thought Beacon was going to be like at all. She thought she would be going on adventures, making friends, and having fun while learning how to become a huntress. But all she was learning right now was how out of her depth she truly was.
If only Yang was here, but it seems she had something better to do with Blake today. Just like yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Ruby opened it to find Jaune standing there with sad eyes. "Is... everything okay, Ruby?"
"Yeah, just... me and Weiss are still trying to figure things out." Ruby said, clearly lying to cover for her partner.
"Oh, okay." Jaune said. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Not really." Ruby replied.
"Do you wanna... hang out with my team until your team gets back?"
"Yeah." Ruby perked up, making Jaune's tail wag. "Yeah, I'd like that."
--------------------------------------------------
"Oh, hello, Pyrrha~!" Weiss called sweetly, walking up to the more famous student. "How are you this afternoon?"
"I'm fine, Weiss." Pyrrha replied. "I'm just out grabbing medicine for Jaune while he's studying."
"At least your partner studies." Weiss said with a grumble. "My supposed 'leader' would prefer to play video games instead of putting in the effort to learn."
"I... see..."
"Excuse me, I didn't mean to vent." Weiss apologized. "But she can just be... so... frustrating!"
"Well, have you considered how she might be feeling?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, she's certainly younger than us, so maybe she's just not sure what direction she should go. You remember being her age, don't you?"
"I do, but she never had it as difficult as I did!" Weiss huffed. "She never had impossible expectations to live up to like I did."
"Really? What her home life like before coming to Becaon?"
"She probably goofed off at her old school, too."
"Probably?" Pyrrha quirked her brow. "Do you know what school she went to?"
"Well... No." Weiss admitted.
"Do you know why she built her weapon the way she did? Or who taught her before she applied to her old school." Weiss was quiet. "Weiss... Aside from her name, what do you know about Ruby?"
Weiss had no answer. She never considered Ruby to really be her partner. Until now, she saw Ruby as just some kid who lucked her way into being her partner, as if it were some cruel twist of fate as punishment for some crime she didn't commit. This was the first time she considered that maybe, just maybe, Ruby was just as unhappy with Weiss as her partner as she was with her.
"I... should probably ask her." Weiss then said.
"I think that would be a good idea."
--------------------------------------------------
"Hello, again~!" Pyrrha chimed as she opened the door to her dorm. "Oh, hello, Ruby."
"Hi, Pyrrha~!" Ruby smiled, sitting on the floor across from Jaune, books out and open between them. "Jaune and I are just studying."
"Oh, really?" Pyrrha stepped aside to reveal the icy glare of Ruby's partner standing behind her.
"Weiss?!"
"Ruby," Weiss took a deep breath before speaking further, "would you like to study with me?"
"Um..." Ruby scratched her head. "I'm kinda already studying with Jaune."
"Oh..." Weiss wanted to say more, but she thought better than to start anything in someone else's dorm. And what Pyrrha said. "Then perhaps I could... study with you, too."
At this, Ruby looked to Jaune, who smiled, and she gave a smile in return. "Yeah, we can do that, too!"

*Very few things made Pyrrha Nikos angry and feel hate towards a person, Cardin Winchester being one due to his actions and personality; while at this very moment, her ire was focused on a certain Saiyan*
Pyrrha: *scowling* "You thought it was a good idea to test...whatever this is--"
Shallot: "Super Saiyan."
Pyrrha: "ON JAUNE!"
Shallot: "Hey, don't snap at me! He agreed to help me train and perfect the form."
Pyrrha: "YOU NEARLY CRIPPLED HIM, YOU IMPULSIVE ASS!!"
Shallot: "Hey, he has that Aura thing...until it...shattered." *grimaced*
Pyrrha: "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't strangle you!"
Shallot: *blinks* "It wouldn't work." *shrugs his shoulders* "Just sayin'."
Pyrrha: *eyes glow* "I have no idea why Weiss--." *stops, an idea forming in her mind* "--You know what, I should focus my energy on making sure Jaune's okay." *walks off*
Shallot: *blinks* "...Why do I feel like I've set myself up for somethin'?"

weiss as winter maiden
blake as spring maiden

the tale of the four maidens is obviously the story of how ozpin met them. could it be that when he looked at the rwby team at the beacon academy he remembered his old maiden friends? 👀

Are there any non-fiction you can recommend for people who are fascinated by your blog (especially the elements of dark eroticism, morbidity and horror)?
🖤 love that you are loving!
i will try to stick to non-fic (also refraining as best i can from re-recommending texts from previous asks but there is of course bound to be some overlap): - The Severed Head: Capital Visions, Julia Kristeva -> read about Aubrey Beardsley's illustrations for Salomé (x, x)
and supplement w Baudelaire's Une Martyre "in which the narrator lovingly contemplates the beauty of a woman's severed head at rest upon a nightstand"
- Masochism: Coldness and Cruelty & Venus in Furs, Deleuze - The Sadeian Woman: And the Ideology of Pornography, Angela Carter - Aesthetic Sexuality: A Literary History of Sadomasochism, Romana Byrne - Perverse Desire and the Ambiguous Icon, Allen S. Weiss - "Must We Burn Sade?", Simone de Beauvoir -> read also about Erzsébet Báthory, the Bloody Countess. supplement your readings with Borowcyzk's Immoral Tales (1973), Julie Delpy's The Countess (2009), Alejandra Pizarnik's La Condesa Sangrienta and/or, if you have the stomach for it:
Lorna's death in Hostel Pt II (2007), inspired by the Countess^
- Anaïs Nin's diaries + Henry and June - Abject Eroticism in Northern Renaissance Art, Yvonne Owens
Hans Baldung Grien "gave powerful visual expression to late medieval tropes and stereotypes, such as the poison maiden, venomous virgin, the Fall of Man, 'death and the maiden' and other motifs and eschatological themes, which mingled abject and erotic qualities in the female body"
- Satanic Feminism: Lucifer as the Liberator of Woman in Nineteenth-Century Culture, Per Faxneld - The Library of Esoterica's Witchcraft - the biographical Taschen on H.R. Giger's oeuvre—biomechanical, Lovecraftian-tentacular fused limbs, bodies, systems, overtly phallic/yonic symbology, darkly psychedelic... very much fantastically erotic; I have my eye on the 40th Anniversary Edition
Giger, as we know, having designed the xenomorph from the Alien (1979) series to have an intensely sexual evolution:
- DEFINITELY read about+explore ero guro (see also: Bataille's L'histoire de l'œil / Story of the Eye! though it is fiction)
brief introductory articles here and here but it's truly so rich and decadent... delve into it!! film, lit, manga, history, so on... -> watch Nagisa Ōshima's In The Realm Of The Senses (1976) too
- if you can read French by any chance, Le Corps Souillé (The Soiled Body) by Eric Falardeau looks incredible; if not, this excerpt alone is delightfully provocative even in isolation - similarly, L'espirit de plaisir: Une histoire de la sexualité et de l’érotisme au Japon (The Spirit of Pleasure: A History of Sexuality and Eroticism in Japan) by Philippe Pons and Pierre-François Souyri is something I'm hoping might see an English translation
^an excerpt from an interview with the authors
- The Art of Cruelty + The Red Parts, Maggie Nelson - Crucial Interventions: An Illustrated Treatise on the Principles & Practice of Nineteenth-Century Surgery, Richard Barnett - The Butchering Art, Lindsey Fitzharris - Death, Disease and Dissection, Suzie Grogan - The Theatre and Its Double, Antonin Artaud - Men, Women, and Chainsaws, Carol J. Clover - House of Psychotic Women, Kier-La Janisse - The Monstrous-Feminine, Barbara Creed - Dead Blondes and Bad Mothers, Sady Doyle - The Lady From The Black Lagoon, Mallory O'Meara

RK AU Idea: the Brawling Bakers, Hazel and Gretchen
Hmmm. Good basis, but ...
~~~~~
Blake: It's the Witch of the Yeast!
The tall, broad shouldered woman rolled her shoulders and cracked her neck, slinging her heavy crossbow over her shoulder
The Witch: Aye. You four are new. Are you looking for the way out?
Weiss: Yes.
The Witch: Well, I know part of the path. Unfortunately I don't know where the exit is either.
The Witch: You all must be hungry. Come. How did you find your ways to this place, Anyways?
Yang: *Thinking she looks somewhat familiar* We used magic to make bridges from Atlas to Vacuo, we got knocked off by some bad guys and now we're here.
The Witch: So you know of the Relics? Dah. I was supposed to be one of those Maidens. I got attacked by some Scorpion faunus, my Semblance went crazy and I found myself here.
Ruby: You were supposed to be a maiden?
The Witch: Yes. Given you aren't flying, none of you are?
Ruby: N-No ... Um. One of our friends from Beacon - do you know Beacon academy?
The Witch: Know It? I was top of my class! But, About your friend ... I can guess where that story ends. Where Their Story ends.
Weiss: Yes, and it's ... It's happened twice. Both of them gave themselves t protect as many as they could - to keep the powers out of another's hands.
The Witch: Well, I'm sorry ... That's horrid to hear. Y'all are real strong to keep pushin' on when they're gone.
Blake: You seem pretty young for someone from a Hundred-fifty year old book - but also was on remnant long enough to go to Beacon.
The Witch: Dah, that's the Ever After for you. I just miss my brother.
Weiss: You had a brother?
The Witch: Aye. his Name was hazel. Strong little one, all we had was each other growing up. I can only hope he's alive and well.
Yang: *Stops walking* H-hazel? You Disappeared listening to Ozpin?
The Witch: *halts, turns to Yang* Aye? What about it.
Yang: Is your name "Gretchen Rainart?""
Gretchen: ... You've met my brother? He's alive!?! IS he alright?!?
Yang: I- I- *Deep Breathe* I don't know how much you know about Ozpin's history, but he was fighting an Immortal Witch - someone named Salem. She is very strong, and very dangerous. Me and my friends were in trouble and he ... He saved us. he got us out of there.
Gretchen: ... Ah .... That ... That hurts to hear ... I am happy he did good with his life ... But that ... I haven't expected to see him again, but to know ...
Yang: I'm sorry.
Gretchen: No, don't be. It is better I know now that later. I- Let us keep moving ... I need to ... think ... about that.
RWBY AU Prompt:
--There are Four Foundational Families (one in each: Vale, Mistral, Mantle/Atlas and Vacuo) that can be considered Primarchical Royal Families (that is to say: they are Ozlem descendants. This fact is VERY hidden knowledge; so hidden in fact that neither Salem nor Ozpin knew until later on). --The Four Foundational Families share the following characteristics: Incredibly powerful and versatile (as well as hereditary) Semblances, immensely potent and dense Aura (not always vast, this depends on the individual), incredible life force (that is to say, they age slowly, seldom get ill and have much larger than average lifespan), and recessive yet highly persistent Silver Eyes AND Black Blood genes (rarely, some descendants are born with either one or both of these traits being dominant at random). The Schnee and Pendragon (now Arc) families are two confirmed families out of the four. --The Schnee and the Arc families have a longtime friendship with each other (which leads to the Schneeblings and the Arc Siblings being childhood friends). --Cinder was found and adopted by Qrow. Because of the series of events that unfolded prior to this, Qrow was ALMOST persona-non-grata in Atlas (Ironwood, Willow and Ozpin had to call in on a LOT of favors for the "Almost" part). --Weiss (and by extension Winter and Whitley) are childhood friends with Jaune (and his sisters). However, whereas Weiss enrolled in Atlas Prep to follow her sister's footsteps, Jaune studied in Shade Academy, where he met and befriended Pyrrha Nikos (and became her first and best friend, as well as her first love and her friendliest rival). --Saphron, Winter, Cinder and Terra studied in Beacon (Saphron, Winter and Terra came from Atlas Prep, where as Cinder came from Signal) and were on the same team (Team ASBT/Asbestos). Saphron was the leader, Saphron and Terra were partners while Winter and Cinder were partnered. --Winter and Cinder got along like cat-and-dog/ice-and-fire, with Cinder goading and taunting Winter every chance she could and Winter inevitably losing her temper (think of Qrow and Winter's canon dynamic). Cinder disdained Winter (at first) because she thought of her as a spoiled Atlesian princess (and Cinder hated anything to do with Atlas) while Winter detested being compared to a vapid socialite that was common for an Atlesian lady of her age (it was the reason she chose to come to Beacon after all, with Ironwood's endorsement no less, to get away from it all).
--Saphron Arc was pretty much the "Summer Rose/Glynda Goodwitch/Pyrrha Nikos" of her generation; that is to say, she was an unparalleled prodigy among her peers (shame that she, along with Terra, retire from being huntsmen early on). --Because of the different circumstances, Cinder Branwen was made the Fall Maiden instead of Amber (originally, Saphron was the one planned to be made the maiden; however, she declined). Amber, instead, is one of Cinder's bodyguards. --During their time in Beacon: Weiss and Pyrrha are fierce rivals in both love (over Jaune) and combat, and every time they fight, they never fail to destroy the arena. It has gotten to the point that Glynda prohibits them from fighting each other during Combat Class because she dreads having to clean up the mess. --Ozpin and Qrow can't help but reminisce over the fact that Pyrrha's and Weiss' rivalry was like a mix between Summer's and Raven's (fighting over Tai), and Winter's and Cinder's (fundamentally so very very similar that they can't help BUT clash).
Weiss smiled as she looked out at Beacon through the window of her family’s airship, two years of training and exams had practically flown by. And she couldnt be any more nervous. She was sure she belonged at Beacon, and the flight from Atlas was long enough that she was able to change into something that fit her better for a first day at the academy so she wasnt worried about how people would see her. No, her worry was with the strange powers that she had trained with for the last two years, still unable to control them well. She was glad she was able to keep them hidden during the exam her father had administered for her to prove she could attend Beacon, but even then it wasnt easy to explain why her weapon had frosted over or the flames that came in her eyes.
Even as the airship landed, she couldnt help but run her fingers over the gloves she wore in an attempt to hide her powers. Not that they helped, but they certainly helped her feel better. Once the airship went still, she gathered her bags and started to make her way to the Beacon courtyard.
“Would you like any help, Master Weiss?” Klein asked as he stayed near the door to the airship.
“I can handle it, Klein,” Weiss answered. “But… thank you. I am going to miss you while I’m here.”
Klein nodded and gave her a smile. “You know how to reach me if you need anything. And that includes if you need any assistance with doctors here.”
“I think I can handle that on my own, but… I’ll keep that in mind. And I’ll keep in touch.”
“Please do, Miss Weiss.”
A smile crossed Weiss’s lips upon hearing Klein’s words, glad that he still accepted her no matter what. It was a comfort to hear, almost taking away the nervousness that she felt as she made her way towards the cafeteria for orientation. At least, that was the plan until she felt someone run into her and knock her over. Weiss picked herself up with a groan, only to be met with one of the students standing over her and offering a hand.
“I’m sorry, I didnt see you there.”
Weiss took the girl’s hand and stood up, dusting herself off before glaring at the girl. “Dont you know what you could’ve done?!”
The girl rubbed the back of her head. “I… dont know what you’re referring to.”
“You could’ve caused an explosion with dust!” Weiss yelled out as she started to pick up some of the vials that had spilled out from her bags. She inspected the vials and made sure everything was still securely closed before packing them away. “You’re lucky nothing’s loose. Even as a powder its still volatile.”
“You’re the one who needs to pay attention then. How’s anyone supposed to know you have that much dust?”
“W-well… I-I… Most people know who I am!”
“I dont.”
Weiss took a deep breath to try to calm herself as she finished putting away her dust vials. She could already feel the familiar surge of the powers inside her as her eyes started to sting from the heat of flames that wanted to appear. “I’m Weiss. And you are?”
“Ruby,” Ruby answered with a smile.
“You should still pay attention where you’re going.” Weiss paused as she picked up one last vial and looked it over. It was unlabeled but certainly looked more like something you’d get from a doctor. “I dont remember this one-”
“That’s because its mine!” Ruby said as she snatched it away.
Weiss frowned a bit, but let it go. If it was Ruby’s, then there was no sense in getting angry at her snatching her own vial away. Though, she still thought it was rude. She finished making sure the bags were back on the trolly correctly and tightened up a few straps to keep things in place. “It was nice to meet you, but I do need to make my way to orientation.”
“A-actually, could I come with you? I just got here, but… I do feel a little lost about where to go.”
“Lost? How could you be lost-” Weiss pinched the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath as her voice strained to keep from yelling. It was just her luck that she’d run into someone so ill-prepared to be at Beacon. “Arent you a bit young to be here?”
“Yeah, but professor Ozpin offered me a spot here after stopping a dust robbery.” Ruby fidgeted a bit while she adjusted her backpack. “I guess I ended up a bit too excited and forgot where we’re supposed to go for orientation. Though, it doesnt help that Yang left me too.”
“Fine, you can follow me but then we go our separate ways.”
“Thanks!”
Weiss rolled her eyes a bit as she felt Ruby pull her into a hug. Once she was let go, she grabbed her trolley and started moving forward towards the cafeteria. Her steps started to slow as she looked around at all the other students around her, her eyes lingering on the girls she saw. Most of them were wearing skirts or pants that let them move around, and those that werent seemed to have weapons that let them sit still at range and far away from combat. She couldnt help but look down at her own clothes feeling ill prepared in her own right. Sure her combat gear was tailored to her body, but it felt… lacking when she thought about it. It still felt like something she was expected to wear to be her father’s heir.
Ruby put a hand on Weiss’s shoulder. “Everything okay? Your eyes look like they’re burning.”
Weiss quietly pulled out a hand mirror and looked at her eyes, heart nearly stopping when she saw the flames in her eyes. At least it was only the flames. She wasnt sure she was ready to try to explain anything else like ice forming or burning someone’s clothes. “Y-yeah, its my…uh.. m-my semblance,” she lied. “Something about getting emotional makes it manifest differently.”
“Sounds like Yang’s. Her eyes change to red when she gets angry or uses hers.”
“Its not really like that, but… I guess that’s close.” Weiss closed her eyes and took a few moments to try to shut off her motions like she trained herself. No anger, no fear, no nervousness or extreme joy, just calm. Nothing to allow her powers to channel themselves. She waited until the sting in her eyes was finally gone before opening them again. “The cafeteria is just ahead. You should be able to find it without too much issue.”
“Arent you going there too?” Ruby asked.
“I have a call I need to make beforehand. You go ahead and maybe we’ll see each other again.”
“Maybe huh?”
“Just go.” Weiss relaxed a bit as she watched Ruby walk off, not quite sure if she made a friend or an annoyance. Either way, she didnt seem to recognize her name just like everyone else around didnt seem to recognize who she was. And while that should’ve made her feel disappointed, it did make her feel better that she could try to be herself without anyone thinking it was strange.
She made sure to get off the main path to the cafeteria and stood next to a tree as she pulled out her scroll and dialed quickly. Her heart started to race as she heard Klein answer the call, her voice went quiet as she spoke. “Can… can you put in an order for a new combat outfit to be ready in a week? I’ll send you the details, but… I think I’m ready.”
cauiten of hte blake and yang maidne au
And so it begins...
First / Previously
-------------------------------------
"And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long." The headmaster of Beacon waved his arm to the four girls, who then took to the stage. Standing before an audience under a blinding spotlight, Blake fought the urge to cover her eyes. Looking to her fellow faunus, Ruby Rose, she noticed she didn't feel such hesitation and raised an arm over her brow. "The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose."
More cheers and applause followed. Ruby dropped her arm in surprise, while Yang immediately squeezed her new leader, embarrassing her by lifting her off the ground and swinging her. Weiss was moreso shocked, likely expecting herself to be made the Team Leader instead. But Blake looked past her team and to the headmaster, who gave a solemn nod.
Soon it would be time to talk.
--------------------------------------------
"Dad! Dad!" Ruby called into the screen from her seat. Taiyang, on the other side of the screen, shoved her dad. "Dad, did you hear me at all?"
"I heard ya just fine, kiddo." Her dad said with a yawn. "Ya got into Beacon, right?"
"I said that weeks ago!" She whined, her wolf ears going flat. "I'm here now, and I-"
"Made team leader, right?"
"Oh, so you were listening?" Taiyang said with a scowl. "We're both proud of you, Ruby."
"I was up late doing an important job for your headmaster." Dad gave a grin. "And he's wanting me to swing by in a couple months." At this Ruby squealed.
"Would you keep it down over there?!" Ruby winced as her partner shouted over the barrier between them. She'd been so caught up in the excitement of the day, she'd forgotten she wasn't the only one with family to tell the good news to. "Apologies, Winter. My team leader decided she just has to be as loud as she possibly can."
"Hey, by the way, where's your sister?" Dad asked. "Coulda sworn she was gonna tell us with you."
"She got called to the headmaster's office. I don't know why, though." At this, the two men looked at each other with concern. "I-I'm sure it's nothing serious! She's just, y'know, got, uh..."
"It's fine, Ruby." Taiyang sighed. "I just didn't expect her to go to see Professor Ozpin already."
"It's probably because of her previous record at Signal." Dad explained. "She was a bit of a troublemaker back there."
Aside from a few pranks, not really. Maybe a little anti-bullying violence after Ruby showed up, but nothing to the point where she'd have to go straight to the headmaster's office. What could have happened that required her to go after her initiation?
--------------------------------------------
"Ms. Belladonna?" Blake looked up from her seat in the waiting room. The deputy headmistress, Professor Goodwitch, eyed her from her towering position over her. "The headmaster will see you now."
She and Yang had been called to the headmaster's office for some reason. At first, she thought it was in regard to herself being the Fall Maiden. However, the inclusion of her newest partner Yang muddied the conclusion. Could this be because Yang was now her partner, or something else entirely? Yang hadn't left yet, so she was still in there.
With a nod, she stood up and entered the elevator leading to the Beacon Headmaster's office. The large room at the top was massive, almost dome-like with it's ceiling nearly obscured by massive, moving gears.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Belladonna." Professor Ozpin formally greeted.
"Wassup, Blake?" Yang informally greeted.
"Now that you are both here," the headmaster began, "I would like to congratulate you both on passing initiation. And with that said, I would like you both to properly introduce yourselves to each other."
"Of course." Blake nodded, then turning to Yang. "My name is Blake Belladonna, and I am the Fall Maiden."
"No way!" Yang covered her mouth. "You're a Maiden, too?!"
My Beau's Stronger than Me! (Arkos & Ancient Snow)
Weiss: Jaune...how do you do it?
Jaune: *blinks in confusion* Um, do what, Weiss?
Weiss: Cope with the fact that Pyrrha's well, stronger than you.
Jaune: *exhales* Okay, no doubt that she trained me, got me to understand fighting and whatnot.
Weiss: *smirks* Obviously, you're the dolt who got into Beacon through false transcripts, but...you've gotten better over time.
Jaune: *nods his head lightly* Yeah. *blinks, turning to the middle Schnee* Is this about Shallot?
Weiss: *sighs* Am I that obvious?
Jaune: I'm not the only one watching those two spar.
*The Knight gestures to The Gladiator and the Saiyan in Blue fighting, through what seemed like a mismatch, but a friendly spar nonetheless*
Weiss: Right. That dolt can't resist a challenge, even if it's a detrimental impulse.
Jaune: *nods his head* Maybe. Ever since Pyr nearly died against Cinder, I get worried about her. She's my partner, the one who believed in me, and... *blushes, remembering the impulsive kiss she did back at Beacon* Well... *rubs the back of his neck*
Weiss: Jaune, everyone can notice.
Jaune: Says the prim & proper Weiss Schnee sporting a hickey on her neck.
Weiss: *blushes* H-HEY!
---
*Pyrrha Nikos skids away from Shallot, who doesn't seem to be breaking a sweat*
Pyrrha: You're holding back. *tightens her grip on Milo 2.0*
Shallot: *rolls his right arm* I can say the same thing about you.
Pyrrha: I'm not...entirely confident with using this power. Ozpin or Ozma aimed for me to have its full power.
Shallot: It's better than nothin'.
Pyrrha: *one of her eyes glows bright, flaming emerald* If you insist.
Shallot: Alright! *ascends to Super Saiyan*
---
Weiss: Um...we should take a few steps back.
Jaune: Yup.
Prof. Nikos AU Concept
To be clear this isn't the only Au/ comic I'll put the model in but it is the one that comes to mind for me most often.
Pyrrha is born into the previous generation to RWBY's main characters like Jaune was in my Prof. Arc AU, also like him she became Glynda's partner.
There weren't any problems to their partnership, in fact Pyrrha would even say it was a pleasant one. But, not a ideal one... Between Glynda's intimidating nature and stern attitude and her fame she merely found a compatriot on the pedestal instead of making many friends with life long bonds.
Sure there were Summer and Tai... Nit Qrow though, he was spiritually taxing and Raven was worse.
But slowly she found herself drifting from them as well. After all her and Glynda did have examples to set. And even after their teammates quit that only meant they had to work that much harder.
Which lead her to now, her being a celebrity, renowned huntress and the most popular teacher in Beacon...
But also a maiden though that secret was to be held under wraps indefinitely.
Of course she never was able to quite find her way off her pedestal. Everyone just avoided her through school, intimidated or worse... They were obsessed.
When she said she was the most popular teacher in Beacon that was hardly a exclusively good thing...
Many students, fellow teachers during Vytal or even council members had tried to involve themselves with her. Some with honest if not unreciprocated feelings for her. Others having ulterior or more carnal goals in mimd.
At times like that she was glad that she could at the very least believe in Glynda. Even this year she expected little different, already a few boys had been unashamedly gawking at her. At least they weren't as blatant as miss Adel had been the year previous. Though they failed compared to miss Schnee who she could sense was going to be particularly insistent fan of her's.
Honestly it was at times like this that she was thankful for that silly rumor about her and Glynda being more then just partners were so rampant through the school.
They helped dissuade the more gullible or naive students, if only they didn't incite the more passionate fans. It was at times like this that she missed Velvet.
The girl had been a wonderful experience to have, but that relationship was over and she had reality to face.
And Reality as it turned out was a blonde boy, one rather plain at first glance. admittedly unimpressive physically compared to the other possible students.
And she realized it when that Ravenette Weiss look alike abducted the flying boy straight out of the air.
He had a scratch from a tree branch, one that bled... That didn't heal, he didn't have aura. She moved to intercept but Ozpin was quicker and with a annoyingly good point. That boy, Jaune Arc stayed even after seeing other be launched into the forest. He heard his words and knew the risk.
So she stood and watched, watched him and his foul mouthed partner walk through the forest, the color swapped looking Schnee obsessing over him. She watched them stumble into that cave, she knew she should've cleared the Deathstalker out of it!
But she hadn't and now he was paying the price, at the very least they'd secured the Relic. And then it happened, they'd met up with four girls Ozpin had noted interest in and two others.
Forming teams, but also drawing in two rather dangerous Grimm. They made the right call, choosing to retreat from the threats. And the blonde could've, but his partner and another boy sadly couldn't make it across the bridge before the Deathstalker had them. Honestly she was suprised when he let turned back to help them, well let the redhead girl launch him towards them.
For most it wouldn't be all that impressive, a dime action a hunter would be expected to take. But Pyrrha saw more to it then that, the boy hadn't had aura for even a hour yet.
He still should've had his morals and thoughts firmly within what civilians would consider commonsense. And what he was doing was very much not that. She saw it, the way he tended, the tremble in his legs.
He was scared, very scared, to him who didn't fully understand what aura was it must've felt suicidal to face a Grimm like that. And yet there he was, fighting, giving orders and exceeding what she could've ever expected of someone with the clear lack of formal training he demonstrated.
It was completely fascinating and admirable. It was why she approached him during the first years entrance celebration after party.
Ignoring team RWBY (Especially Weiss), CRDL and just about everyone else. She could see it in his posture, Jaune wasn't enjoying his position as leader or the attention it got him as other students seemed quick to criticize.
She understood their logic to a extent, Valkyrie and miss Gelé were clearly stronger and Lie Ren more skilled.
Bit that line of thinking was heavily flawed in her opinion. And so she spoke to him, amd was suprised, he, he was utterly ignorant of most things relating to Huntsman!
It sent her through a loop, maybe it was because of how pitiful he looked then, or perhaps how much determination she could gleam in his gaze when he spoke of his dream to be a Huntsman... And also maybe, possibly because he seemed utterly ignorant to who she was. Regardless she spoke then and there. Informing Jaune that she'd be training him as one of his electives (Classes)
He made one small comment about her thinking he wasn't good enough, but she quickly nipped that in the bud. Everyone had to start somewhere and she was a bit more stubborn herself compared to her Beacon days.
Glynda couldn't help but feel Pyrrha was putting too much interest into Arc. Did she hate the boy, no.
But Pyrrha shouldn't be putting all her free time into spending her time with a schoolboy... No she was not jealous no matter what Qrow said! She was just concerned about her partner's reputation.
And besides that Jaune Arc had shown to be dreadfully unprepared for this school given his Proformance during Initiation. She'd even go as far as to say that if it hadn't been for miss Gelé's unsettlingly strong interest in him that there was a good chance he would've perished during the exam.
If Pyrrha intended to truly invest time in training him she couldn't help but feel it'd a rather significant amount of effort for her part...
Pyrrha had enough on her plate, surely she didn't need to add training a underwhelming student on top of that.
And... Yes, perhaps there was a fraction of truth to the drunkards word... After all, Pyrrha and her were the only two given such high expectations. She was the only person who could understand her.
Of course she valued their friendship more then anything in the world. But the heart simply wanted what the heart wanted. She only hoped she could be professional and not let it effect her teachings.
Though given how far behind Arc was perhaps she could afford to be a bit more... strict
Pyrrha had to admit, Jaune was a breath of fresh air, while still severely lacking in skill and training she felt that could be rectified and firmly believed in him. Honestly she was afraid this year would be a dull one but with him things were looking up.
She actually fell asleep rather peacefully that night... And had a dream.
Well... Oh dear.
