Orientation went by quickly, and Weiss met a few of the other students attending. The one that really stood out to her was Pyrrha, the untouchable champion hailing from the kingdom of Mistral. Pyrrha was everything she had wanted in a partner: strong, smart, dependable… The two of them would certainly become a powerful team if they could manage to partner up with each other.
Though getting a moment to talk to her about being partners proved to be more difficult than she thought. The first hurdle to get past was Jaune. For whatever reason, Pyrrha seemed to enjoy being near him and trying to get a moment to talk to her seemed harder than expected. And then there was initiation. With only a few hours between meeting other students, taking a tour of the campus, and then being led to the cliff side that stood above the nearby forest didnt leave a lot of time to talk to many people.
So all she could do was watch as Pyrrha took her spot and got ready, trying to calculate how easily it’d be to find her once they were launched. If she kept an eye on Pyrrha, she might have a chance-
“Please make sure you are ready with your landing strategies,” Ozpin said as he made his way down the line of students. “And remember, your goal is to find the relics in the center of the forest. Grimm will stand in your way, however, keep vigilant. The goal isnt to kill grimm, but to survive.”
“L-landing strategy?” Jaune asked. “What do you mean by a ‘landing strategy’?”
Who doesnt know what a landing strategy is? Weiss thought to herself as she adjusted the positioning of her feet. She had practiced hers enough that she could do it blindfolded. But that didnt seem to calm her as much as she’d hoped. Her heart raced and her fingers tightened around the hilt of her blade as she stared out over the forest in anticipation.
Ozpin ignored the question and continued to speak. “If you find a grimm that you do not feel you can defeat, running is always an option. Additionally, we do have professional huntsmen watching the initiation closely to make sure everyone will remain safe.”
The sound of the first student being launched nearly made Weiss’s heart stop. She glanced out of the corner of her eye as she watched the next few students get launched. Her breath slowed and she focused on herself, waiting for her platform to send her into the air. The wait was excruciating, almost like waiting for the prick of a needle when getting a shot or the sharp pain of getting a piercing.
And then it was her turn.
The wind rushed through her hair as she was launched, eyes focused on the forest below. She muttered to herself, running through the steps that she needed to make sure her landing strategy was perfect. “Create glyphs like stepping stones as I fall. Create glyphs like stepping stones as I fall.”
Weiss created a glyph under her feet to try to step on to start her descent from falling to running… only to miss the glyph she created. In a panic, she tried again, creating the glyph a little higher and as a slant. This time, as her feet touched the glyph, she could still feel the wind pressing against her, wanting to keep her going. It wasnt until she felt a burning in her eyes and caught the reflection of small flames that she realized that she was the one who had been controlling the wind.
She lingered in the air as she took a few breaths to let the flames in her eyes die down while she created a few glyphs to start making her way down towards the forest. Her eyes darted as she looked for any sign of Pyrrha, not quite sure when she lost track of her. That didnt matter. Just as long as she could get back down to the forest floor, she could try to track the girl she wanted to be partners with.
Each step Weiss took became faster than the last as she descended from the air, using her glyphs to try to reach the ground as quickly as she could. She’d already spent more time than she had wanted making her landing and she was losing time to find Pyrrha. She had to find Pyrrha.
She finally stepped on the ground, eyes focused on the path in front of her as she pushed through brush. She kept moving as quickly as she could until she ran into Ruby once more, slamming into her when she couldnt skid to a stop quick enough.
“W-Weiss!” Ruby yelled out once she picked herself up. “Are you okay?”
Weiss nodded and groaned as she stood up. “I thought I told you to watch where you were going.”
“I was.” Ruby dusted off her skirt and then extended her hand to Weiss. “But I didnt expect for you to be making your way through the forest as if you were running for your life. But I guess that means we’re going to be partners now.”
Weiss shook her head and pushed Ruby’s hand away. “We’re not partners. I need to go find Pyrrha-”
“But Ozpin said that our partner will be whoever we look at eye to eye first. And, well, I found you first.”
“But he didnt say anything like that!”
“He did right after talking about the landing strategies.”
Weiss paused for a moment to try to remember. Of course she didnt pay attention to that tidbit, she was too focused on Pyrrha to worry about what Ozpin had said. She huffed and started to walk past Ruby. “We are not partners because I didnt look at you eye to eye. So you’ll have to find someone else.”
“But that’s against the rules!” Ruby yelled out.
And I dont care, Weiss thought to herself as she made her way forward, hoping to find Pyrrha. All that mattered was finding Pyrrha and becoming the power team she needed in order to be the best huntress in training at Beacon. She pulled back the branches on a bush as she stepped around a tree only to find-
Jaune. Of course it was Jaune.
Telling one person that she didnt want to be partners was fine, but avoiding a second… she couldnt risk any of the professors watching over call her out for breaking the rules like that. After making sure he didnt see her, she slowly turned around and made her way to Ruby. “Alright, fine, we’re partners.”
Ruby paused for a moment. “I thought you didnt-”
“Do not make me regret this,” Weiss said as she took hold of Ruby’s arm. “This is fine. Our teams will be made up of four people, so all I have to do is find Pyrrha with whoever she ends up with as a partner and I can still make my plan work.”
“Your plan?” Ruby asked.
“You dont need to worry about that. All I need you to do is not slow me down.”
“I’d never slow you down!” Ruby said as she zipped past Weiss with her semblance. “I’m as fast as they come!”
Weiss paused for a moment as her fingers closed around a fistful of rose petals. This was not how she wanted her first year of training to be.

Suddenly I recalled how one of the earliest theories about Oscar was he being a pre-transition spring maiden or the spring maiden possing as a boy (crazy times, i know) and my sleep deprived brain was like "you know what, that should be an au".
Like, imagine the original spring, the one that canon Raven killed, was able to tough up and Raven decided that she may be able to survive. However she was killed by grimm a few months after the Fall of Beacon. Not wanting to put the tribe in more danger than they already where just by taking her, she dicides to think on some random dude of the tribe or on the grimm attacking her, believing this way Salem wouldnt go after the tribe. So the power ended choosing a random host, that ended being Oscar, who had been recently questioning her gender and suddenly got the confirmation that she was, indeed, a girl.
Maybe she ended in the same white plane with Spring, has Penny and Winter did in Volume 8, and Spring told her to go into hiding and while doing that she found Ruby's group in Mistral, after Qrow told Leonardo that Raven could have the Spring Maiden.
Extra things:
The name I usually use for Fem/Trans girl!Oscar is Ambrosia "Amy" Pine.
Raven and Cinder plot could go that, after Spring death and Salem forces coming to the tribe, Raven and Vernal got scared and decided to pretend that Vernal was the Spring Maiden, maybe using Vernal semblance to trick Cinder. Their plan was that the night of the attack the tribe would evacuate and they would use the scandal of the fight to flee. That plan did not go well.
Who is Oz host now? Im not sure. Could be Amy still, that could be tragically hilarious. Im also thinking on Jaune, that is honestly an idea that I think is so tragic that I love it. Like, he lost his partner and love interest because of Maiden businesses, the man he partially blames for it is now part of him and that little girl that his becoming his new combat partner and surrogate little sister is a maiden too, and he and Oz blame themselves for ruining her life, believing that Amy deserved the life of a normal girl.
Amy temporarily hides her status as maiden by posing as a boy, but after Haven and with Leonardo and Cinder dealed with she ditches that. Weiss, Nora and Ruby helped with the overhaul, combat skirt on the way.
Thinking a way (excuse) for the group to still have to scort the lamp to Atlas (I to get Jinn to spill the tea) im thinking, the reason why they couldn't keep the Lamp in the vault is because Amy used the vault to temporarily seal Cinder inside, and for that they had to take the Lamp out. Amy and Yang having to go down the vault to save Raven (Vernal was already death by that point). Amy had to sit and hear the family drama with Vernal corpse on her side. Beautiful memory.
This is me, so we would be having saphic!Rosegarden, she would have found out about the drama eventually.
Amy fancies earth over other elements and is not quite fond of flying yet.
I'm not sure about her weapon, on one hand could be a sword or knives since Maidens seems to rotate towards them but at the same time and really fond of how canon!Oscar used Long Memory as a bat and blame star rail for this but Amy hitting people with a magical bat would be badass and hilarious.

I was thinking about things that seems like good ideas at night but during the morning you change your mind.
Last night I was reading a RWBY AU where Raven doesn’t leave and Summer doesn’t die; for some reason it includes Weiss being very transphobic and at the time I thought that was an amazing idea and I wanted to share it but it was late and I wanted to go to bed; at the light of day (well “light” it’s been raining since yesterday) I still think Weiss being transphobic is an interesting idea since no one else is gonna be okay with that and I headcanon like half the cast to be trans (including Ozpin), but I no longer feel like sharing that sort of stuff, it feels to dark for when I’m alert.
Also in this Yang is the Spring Maiden for some reason and Ozpin is gonna train her, and in the day I noticed a tag that says: “and once again oz is preying on an easy to manipulate student” which he doesn’t (Also Yang is not easy to manipulate WTF).
And I remember I have issues with this person because they say shit like that but they pay a lot of attention to Salem and Cinder and they have too many Fallen Petals stuff; and as I’ve mentioned before I’m not comfortable with people who have more sympathy for Salem than Ozpin because Salem was a domestic abuser and Ozma her victim, and I wanna add that I’m not comfortable with ships like Fallen Petals (Cinder/Ruby) because it gives me bad vibes (like it’d be an abusive relationship if it were real); I’m not gonna get in anyone’s case about it, but it makes me uncomfortable.
Also, now I think about it, this person seems allergic to m/f relationships (in that AU it seems like Raven and Summer are a couple and Tai the third wheel, which is weird); and as a bisexual woman, folks who seem to be actively avoiding m/f ships make me a bit uncomfortable; folks who avoid m/f ships AND seem to have a double standard for men and women make me very uncomfortable
Of course the question is, why am I reading this stuff? I dunno man, this person has interesting ideas, inspite of you know

anyway here's some basic information from arc 1/little bit of arc 2 of partner swap au
blake + ruby, yang + weiss, pyrrha + nora, jaune + ren are the main partner pairs
all of team jnpr knows about the maiden power transfer, jaune volunteers to go with pyrrha because nora is worried about yang and ren is worried about nora (sweet sweet best friends)
jaune and ren WILL kiss before jaune goes with pyrrha and ozpin 😌
endgame ships as of now are ladybug, schneekos, and nora/yang
ruby gets framed for 'injuring' neo (she thinks neo is rushing her so ruby uses her semblance to speed neo off the edge of the platform 'breaking' her leg)
yang and mercury face off in the tunnels
ruby actually asks blake to the beacon ball
romantic ladybug starts developing earlier on
adam very nearly cuts out ruby's eye. he narrowly misses and slices open her cheek instead
when RRVN leaves, pyrrha leaves her old sanctum jacket with yang because she wasnt able to give weiss anything before her father took her away
schneekos!!!! dance!!!!!!
neptune is gay and trans
so is sun
sun/sage and neptune/scarlet are the team sssn partner pairs
ruby + blake are in the doubles round against an oc team
sage and scarlet will get to be actual characters in the au. theyre not super important but yeah
sun catches up to blake earlier on! they have a long talk about where blake is going, her actual reasons for leaving, and her feelings regarding team rwby and especially ruby herself
blake also talks to ghira and kali about these things!
dc comics canon will be liberally sprinkled in as i please (i.e the ring)
blake and yang are in fact best friends and did do shit like go out to eat and stuff. im not erasing these two's relationship its just not gonna be romantic!
pyrrha gets about half of the maiden powers
when cinder attacks, jaune calls nora and ren. the three of them follow pyrrha when she goes to fight cinder and defend her until team rwby can arrive. jaune dies (i love him and this rly isnt like a kill jaune to get him out of the way he literally goes out protecting his team)
qrow's shapeshifting comes out earlier bc he flies to the top of the tower to find the kids. he helps bring jaune's body down and at the bottom they find ruby and blake in the courtyard, surrounded by petrified grimm, with blake cradling ruby's head in her lap and sobbing apologies (yknow while she also has a gaping hole in her stomach)
raven helps get them all to taiyang's house (she was watching the vytal festival on a tv in a mistral bar when everything started to go down)
raven isnt necessarily a good person but i do lean her towards the better side of morally grey. she sees no real problems with cutting down a teenager when it feels like theres a huge target on her back but also yang and ruby are her kids babey.
poly str CANON and u find that out early on.
also in the vein of poly str, tai and raven split after summer goes missing. she comes around to see the girls in bird form but she avoids tai ad much as possible. they both blame each other for what happened to summer
qrow still tries to keep his distance from the kids but theyre more or less aware he's following
when the brantwins get hurt they revert to bird form to make it easier to transfer them around. so injured qrow is a little crow being carted around in his niece's hood
qrow + raven have a tense relationship. like theyd die for each other honestly but also? theyre so fucking mean to one another
okay this is getting long so ill end this here

Any fav LGBT headcanons for RWBY?
I really like the idea of Ruby being demisexual (but also sapphic learning)
Nora has been trans to me since her new outfit and everyone noticed she has the trans pride colors
Both Blake and Yang being bisexual (when they find out they both are at Beacon, they bond over it)
Weiss eventually figures out she’s aromantic, and her relationships with the other members of Team RWBY are queerplatonic (everyone knows this and is okay with it)
I love the idea of one of the maidens being a trans girl (there’s a part of me that wants to hold out for the Summer Maiden, but realistically I know it probably won’t happen in canon - aus are the best anyhow)
Qrow is polyamorous (and attracted to pretty much any gender, if he’d choose a label it would probably be pan, but he’s not interested in labeling anything).
I don’t know the ship name for it, but I kinda started shipping Ilia/Emerald earlier (they’re both coming from very toxic places where they’re angry at the world, but want genuine love.  I feel like they could help each other heal a lot).
Just now, I decided Jaune is totally a trans boy with anxiety over being “just another one of the Arc girls” partially fueling his desire to leave home.  Also why he cut his longer hair.  He wanted to be more masculine.
Winter is a closeted lesbian.  She’s known for years, but has kept the truth held tightly under lock and key.  All throughout her time at Atlas Academy she had a massive crush on Robyn Hill and hated Robyn for it.  Later she and Robyn get together.
I could probably go on forever, but I’m gonna stop there for now

“Put my foot here,” Weiss said quietly as she slowly moved herself into a fighting position, taking each step just as Winter had told her. She glanced at the beowolves in front of her, glad they were still sizing her up and hadnt tried to attack while she wasnt ready. Though she still couldnt help but be nervous. This was the first time she was fighting grimm that wasnt either captured and sold to her father or summons created by her sister. Real grimm.
Once she was ready, she created a glyph just in front of her rapier as she pointed it towards the grimm. She focused on the dust in the revolver chamber as she used her glyph to pull the fire dust down the blade. A small smile crossed Weiss’s lips when the glyph turned red, ready to unleash a fireball. All she had to do was keep her focus on the grimm and release the power behind her glyph-
“I’ve got them!” Ruby yelled out.
Weiss flinched, her concentration fading and the fireball she held in her glyph launched towards the grimm and hit the trees behind them instead. As the grimm started to run, she tried to run her rapier through the closest one, only for her side to hit Ruby’s back as she pulled back to take a few shots at the remaining grimm.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” Weiss yelled out as she finally ran her rapier through a grimm. “I was handling these grimm!”
“You werent handling them fast enough!” Ruby sliced through another grimm and then used her semblance to pull back before taking a shot. “So I’m taking care of them!”
“We’re supposed to be a team which means we need to communicate!”
Weiss took a deep breath and sheathed her rapier as she watched Ruby take care of the last of the grimm. It wasnt that she didnt want Ruby to help her, but she wanted to prove that she had what it took to be a huntress herself. And clearly Ruby didnt want that.
Ruby folded her scythe as the last of the grimm started to disappear. “Then you should tell me what you want to do. I cant be left guessing what you’re trying to do if you dont tell me.”
“Just stay out of my way and let me work,” Weiss said as she stormed deeper into the forest.
Though, the further she went, the more she realized she didnt quite know where the relics were. She knew they were supposed to be to the north, and she did have to admit that Vale was still foreign enough that she couldnt quite tell which way north was supposed to be. But she couldnt just go back to Ruby and ask her to help.
She was not about to admit that she had no idea what she was doing.
So instead, Weiss turned around and made her way back to Ruby, pointing in the opposite direction she was heading. “I have decided that we’re going to go this way instead.”
“We’re lost, arent we?” Ruby asked.
“N-no! We’re not lost! We’re just… we’re just giving others a head start before we show everyone what we can do.” Weiss let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Okay, fine, we’re lost.”
“Then I think I have an idea about how we can find where we’re supposed to go.”
“And what is-” Weiss quit talking as she heard a loud *caw* from a nevermore high above the trees. “No. We’re not doing that.”
“You dont know what I’m going to suggest.”
“You’re going to make us ride a grimm, arent you?”
“...a bird’s eye view would be the best way to find where we’re supposed to go.”
Weiss wanted to argue, but couldnt. Ruby’s reasoning was sound, and standing around trying to figure out where to go didnt seem to be getting them anywhere. Then, she remembered how she had started to glide through the air during her landing strategy. Itd be a bit much to show her powers now, but if she could hide them with her glyphs and get another aerial view without using the grimm…
“I-I think i have a better way to find where we can go,” Weiss said quietly as she started to create a stairway of glyphs. “Just… give me a few minutes, okay?”
“Wait Weiss-”
“I’m not going to leave you behind.”
“Its not that, its-”
Weiss ignored Ruby, making her way up the glyphs until she was high enough to not be seen by Ruby. She let her eyes start to burn as she used the wind to lift herself off the glyph she was standing on. Dark clouds started to fill the sky as she tried to obscure others from being able to see her as she moved a bit to try to find where the ruins were. All she needed was another minute and then she could-
“Weiss!”
Weiss didnt have time to brace herself as she felt Ruby slam into her and bring her to the ground. The flames in her eyes went out as a flurry of feathers stormed overhead, her aura flickering as she tried to pick herself up. “Ruby!”
Ruby picked herself up and offered a hand to Weiss. “We need to go. Now.”
“I almost found the ruins-”
“No time!”
“There’s always-” The words escaped Weiss’s thought as she saw a mass of beowolves racing behind them. She wasnt sure when they had started coming after them, but it was enough to make her freeze.
Without another thought, she stuck her hand out towards the grimm, eyes burning as ice left the palm of her hand. The air around her froze along with everything in front of her including the grimm. The flames in her eyes died down and she spoke with a quiet tone as she shaikly lowered her hand.
“Dont tell anyone about what you saw.”

Weiss smiled as she looked out at Beacon through the window of her family’s airship, two years of training and exams had practically flown by. And she couldnt be any more nervous. She was sure she belonged at Beacon, and the flight from Atlas was long enough that she was able to change into something that fit her better for a first day at the academy so she wasnt worried about how people would see her. No, her worry was with the strange powers that she had trained with for the last two years, still unable to control them well. She was glad she was able to keep them hidden during the exam her father had administered for her to prove she could attend Beacon, but even then it wasnt easy to explain why her weapon had frosted over or the flames that came in her eyes.
Even as the airship landed, she couldnt help but run her fingers over the gloves she wore in an attempt to hide her powers. Not that they helped, but they certainly helped her feel better. Once the airship went still, she gathered her bags and started to make her way to the Beacon courtyard.
“Would you like any help, Master Weiss?” Klein asked as he stayed near the door to the airship.
“I can handle it, Klein,” Weiss answered. “But… thank you. I am going to miss you while I’m here.”
Klein nodded and gave her a smile. “You know how to reach me if you need anything. And that includes if you need any assistance with doctors here.”
“I think I can handle that on my own, but… I’ll keep that in mind. And I’ll keep in touch.”
“Please do, Miss Weiss.”
A smile crossed Weiss’s lips upon hearing Klein’s words, glad that he still accepted her no matter what. It was a comfort to hear, almost taking away the nervousness that she felt as she made her way towards the cafeteria for orientation. At least, that was the plan until she felt someone run into her and knock her over. Weiss picked herself up with a groan, only to be met with one of the students standing over her and offering a hand.
“I’m sorry, I didnt see you there.”
Weiss took the girl’s hand and stood up, dusting herself off before glaring at the girl. “Dont you know what you could’ve done?!”
The girl rubbed the back of her head. “I… dont know what you’re referring to.”
“You could’ve caused an explosion with dust!” Weiss yelled out as she started to pick up some of the vials that had spilled out from her bags. She inspected the vials and made sure everything was still securely closed before packing them away. “You’re lucky nothing’s loose. Even as a powder its still volatile.”
“You’re the one who needs to pay attention then. How’s anyone supposed to know you have that much dust?”
“W-well… I-I… Most people know who I am!”
“I dont.”
Weiss took a deep breath to try to calm herself as she finished putting away her dust vials. She could already feel the familiar surge of the powers inside her as her eyes started to sting from the heat of flames that wanted to appear. “I’m Weiss. And you are?”
“Ruby,” Ruby answered with a smile.
“You should still pay attention where you’re going.” Weiss paused as she picked up one last vial and looked it over. It was unlabeled but certainly looked more like something you’d get from a doctor. “I dont remember this one-”
“That’s because its mine!” Ruby said as she snatched it away.
Weiss frowned a bit, but let it go. If it was Ruby’s, then there was no sense in getting angry at her snatching her own vial away. Though, she still thought it was rude. She finished making sure the bags were back on the trolly correctly and tightened up a few straps to keep things in place. “It was nice to meet you, but I do need to make my way to orientation.”
“A-actually, could I come with you? I just got here, but… I do feel a little lost about where to go.”
“Lost? How could you be lost-” Weiss pinched the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath as her voice strained to keep from yelling. It was just her luck that she’d run into someone so ill-prepared to be at Beacon. “Arent you a bit young to be here?”
“Yeah, but professor Ozpin offered me a spot here after stopping a dust robbery.” Ruby fidgeted a bit while she adjusted her backpack. “I guess I ended up a bit too excited and forgot where we’re supposed to go for orientation. Though, it doesnt help that Yang left me too.”
“Fine, you can follow me but then we go our separate ways.”
“Thanks!”
Weiss rolled her eyes a bit as she felt Ruby pull her into a hug. Once she was let go, she grabbed her trolley and started moving forward towards the cafeteria. Her steps started to slow as she looked around at all the other students around her, her eyes lingering on the girls she saw. Most of them were wearing skirts or pants that let them move around, and those that werent seemed to have weapons that let them sit still at range and far away from combat. She couldnt help but look down at her own clothes feeling ill prepared in her own right. Sure her combat gear was tailored to her body, but it felt… lacking when she thought about it. It still felt like something she was expected to wear to be her father’s heir.
Ruby put a hand on Weiss’s shoulder. “Everything okay? Your eyes look like they’re burning.”
Weiss quietly pulled out a hand mirror and looked at her eyes, heart nearly stopping when she saw the flames in her eyes. At least it was only the flames. She wasnt sure she was ready to try to explain anything else like ice forming or burning someone’s clothes. “Y-yeah, its my…uh.. m-my semblance,” she lied. “Something about getting emotional makes it manifest differently.”
“Sounds like Yang’s. Her eyes change to red when she gets angry or uses hers.”
“Its not really like that, but… I guess that’s close.” Weiss closed her eyes and took a few moments to try to shut off her motions like she trained herself. No anger, no fear, no nervousness or extreme joy, just calm. Nothing to allow her powers to channel themselves. She waited until the sting in her eyes was finally gone before opening them again. “The cafeteria is just ahead. You should be able to find it without too much issue.”
“Arent you going there too?” Ruby asked.
“I have a call I need to make beforehand. You go ahead and maybe we’ll see each other again.”
“Maybe huh?”
“Just go.” Weiss relaxed a bit as she watched Ruby walk off, not quite sure if she made a friend or an annoyance. Either way, she didnt seem to recognize her name just like everyone else around didnt seem to recognize who she was. And while that should’ve made her feel disappointed, it did make her feel better that she could try to be herself without anyone thinking it was strange.
She made sure to get off the main path to the cafeteria and stood next to a tree as she pulled out her scroll and dialed quickly. Her heart started to race as she heard Klein answer the call, her voice went quiet as she spoke. “Can… can you put in an order for a new combat outfit to be ready in a week? I’ll send you the details, but… I think I’m ready.”

Weiss found herself staring at her reflection in the mirror as her heart pounded in her chest. She was supposed to be getting ready for her first day of class, something she had done plenty of times before while living in Atlas. So why was she so nervous today? Was it the fact that she was finally wearing a skirt? Maybe it was that the longer she stared at her reflection the easier it was to find imperfections in her looks like the little facial hair that was missed when shaving or how her makeup didnt look as even in the light.
Her eyes moved from her face to her chest as she tried to adjust the bra she wore under her shirt. This was the first time she’d worn something more than just a sports bra under her clothes and she couldnt seem to get it to sit right. Maybe her chest and shoulders were just slightly too wide for the size she picked or maybe the type of bra she had wasnt quite right. Either way, it made it difficult to focus on being prepared for classes.
Still, it wasnt like there was much she could do about it now. She was already dressed, classes were going to start right after breakfast, and she still had to worry about her skirt. Her hand ran down to make sure she didnt have any unsightly bulges, only for her to stop as she saw the bathroom door swing open with Ruby standing just outside with a syringe, decanter, her clothes, and a towel wrapped around her to be ready for a shower.
Ruby quickly closed the door. “I-I didnt know you were in there!”
“And I had thought I locked it,” Weiss answered back as she cleared her throat. She took a moment to compose herself as a blush started to cross her cheeks. If she was going to be living with three other girls while at Beacon, she was going to have to find a way to keep her own secret from coming out to them. The last thing she wanted was for them to think they were living with a boy. First, she’d have to make sure the door locks to keep anyone from walking in on her. A bathroom schedule could work, though there was no telling how long it’d take Yang and Blake to shower or brush their hair with how long they kept it. Not that she could complain, she had always kept hers long too and she knew it took her nearly an hour for all the upkeep on it-
“Do you know how much longer you’ll be in there?” Ruby asked. “I do still need to shower.”
Weiss quickly brushed her hair to pull back into a ponytail. “I-I just need a few more minutes!”
“Alright,” Ruby answered back.
Weiss took a deep breath and ran her hands down her clothes once more to make sure everything sat right and to give her one last attempt at adjusting her bra before heading to class. Once she was sure everything was in order, she opened the door with a smile. “All yours.”
“Great!”
Weiss huffed a bit with how quickly Ruby seemed to shove her aside to get into the bathroom, and then flinched when she heard the door slam right behind her, hair almost getting caught with it. She walked over to her bed and sat down to make sure she still had her book bag packed for classes, a habit she had formed ever since she realized she wasnt much of a morning person.
“Are we getting breakfast as a team, or just heading down while Ruby finishes getting ready?” Blake asked.
“She wont take too long,” Yang answered. “She’s usually pretty quick, so it wont be too much longer of a wait to head down together.”
“If you’re sure.”
Weiss quietly watched Blake and Yang to try to figure them out more. Yang seemed to be the easiest of the two to understand. Ruby’s sister, protective of those she cared about, and she almost seemed to have an endless supply of energy to her. She was the first to rise along with Ruby to train, didnt  seem to tire out no matter what she did, and she only seemed to like to be around gatherings if she was around anyone she knew.
And Blake almost seemed like a mystery to her. The bow she wore never seemed to come off, even while she was sleeping, which as far as Weiss was concerned, had to mean she was hiding something. Though, there wasnt any proof that she was and Blake always stayed up late into the night reading, so it was possible that she took it off right before bed. Beyond that, she seemed to get along with Ruby well since the two had been talking ever since the party after initiation.
Then there was Ruby. For being the youngest of the team, she seemed to know her way with her weapon. Which was better than most from what she saw in the highlight reel during the party. Most of the other students looked as if they had never faced a grimm before. But beyond that, Ruby at least seemed like someone she could get along with even if she was the one who was supposed to lead their team.
However, none of that really eased Weiss’s mind. The thought of them finding out she was trans was still a terrifying one. If her family was any indication on how most people would take it, then she’d rather keep it a secret for as long as she could.
Weiss finally stood up and stretched. “I’m going to make my way to the cafeteria and save a table for the rest of you.”
Yang shook her head. “We really should wait for Ruby. She wont be much longer.”
“It’ll be fine,” Weiss said as she finished putting on a pair of heels and hoisted her book bag over her shoulder. “I wont eat until you’re all down there, all I want to do is make sure we have a table we can sit at. There’ll be nothing worse than trying to find a table when there isnt one.”
“Alright, we’ll be down there shortly.”
Weiss nodded and started to slowly walk through the halls as she tried to keep her balance. It may not have been her greatest idea to wear thinner heels than what she’d practiced with, but it was a bit too late now. She was still waiting for Klein to send the rest of the clothes she’d asked for including the wedges she preferred to walk in. Until then, she had to work with what she had and the shoes she normally wore for her combat gear were certainly not suited for classes.
Once she caught her stride, she started to walk a bit quicker to the cafeteria in hopes to snag a table for the rest of her team. Her speed started to pick up with each step as she used a few glyphs to keep her balance.
And yet, it wasnt enough to keep her from missing a step down the stairs.
Weiss’s heart raced as she felt herself start to fall, losing concentration with her glyphs. Her eyes started to glow on instinct as she put a hand in front of her to create a wall in front of her to catch her fall. At least until she felt someone grab hold of the back of her collar.
“Are you okay?” a girl’s voice asked from behind Weiss.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine,” Weiss answered as she calmed herself enough to let the fire in her eyes die. She used a glyph to help herself get her balance again before turning around to see another student behind her, amber eyes and black hair. “Thank you.”
The girl almost seemed to look Weiss over before nodding and walking down the stairs. “You shouldnt run in heels like that.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you… uh…” Weiss paused. “What’s your name?”
“Cinder,” Cinder answered. “And something tells me that we’ll be seeing more of each other.”
“What makes you say that?” Weiss asked, though her question fell on deaf ears as Cinder continued without answering. She tried to follow her out, only to lose track of her in a crowd of students. She paused at a window when she saw a blush on her cheeks, almost tracing it with her fingers. She needed to find her again.

Weiss slowly brought a dress up in front of her as she looked over her reflection in the mirror, fingers clutching the fabric tightly. A small smile crossed her lips as she held the dress close to her body, glad that she had found one that Winter was throwing away. And for the first time in a long time, she felt like herself. Even if she had to hide who she was at home, this was enough to tell her that this was who she was.
Her smile dropped as she heard a few footsteps on the other side of her bedroom door, quickly stashing the dress under her bed and moving the covers to keep it from being seen. Weiss turned around as she heard a knock on the door, voice cracking as she answered. “W-who’s there?”
“Klein, Master Weiss,” Klein said from behind the door. “I have lunch for you.”
“Come in.” Weiss gave a half smile as she watched Klein walk into the room pushing a tray. She was grateful it was just Klein and that her father wasnt following behind. She sat down on her bed and adjusted her tie as Klein made sure lunch was served. “You know you dont have to call me Master Weiss when Father isnt around.”
Klein nodded and moved the tray to Weiss’s beside. “But you never know who he has watching you. After he found that skirt you purchased, I’m sure he has more of the servants around here watching to make sure you’re a model son for him.”
Weiss’s smile dropped as she let out a soft sigh and ran her fingers through her short hair. “Dont remind me. Though I’d wish he’d understand I’m not his son.”
“I’m she he’ll understand it once you have the chance to leave home. You are still planning to go to Beacon in a couple years, yes?”
“As long as I can pass the entrance exam and continue to convince Father that its in our family’s best interest that his heir also be a huntsman.”
“I’m sure you’ll be able to.”
“I can hope,” Weiss said quietly as Klein left the room, leaving her alone with her thoughts again. She waited until she couldnt hear footsteps near her door before pulling out a sketchbook with a few designs she had made for the huntress gear she wanted to wear once she started at Beacon. A combat skirt to allow her to move freely, a nice top and jacket to match in order to show her status as one of Atlas’ elite.
A smile crossed her lips again as she ran her fingers over the sketch, already glad she was that much closer to making this a reality. The real challenge would be to place the order without her father knowing, Most of the tailors and dressmakers in Atlas reported any orders the Schnees made straight to Jacques, and trying to order anything like this from Vale or Mistral seemed out of the question without coming up with some sort of an excuse. Waiting until she could get to Beacon sounded like a better option, though explaining any of this to a roommate or even any future teammates felt like a bigger hassle than she wanted to.
Weiss closed the sketchbook and tossed it to the floor as she laid down on her bed. With quiet words, she looked up at the ceiling above her. “I know this is what I want, but father… he’d never understand and I wish there was a way I could get him to.”
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes for just a moment, only to open them when she felt someone take her hand. In front of her was an older woman who gave her a smile, and her room had seemed to disappear in a realm of light.
“Please take care of this gift.”
The woman and the room of light disappeared just as quickly as they came and Weiss fell out of bed as she felt a warmth in her chest as her heart pounded. Her eyes burned in a warm stinging no matter how many times she blinked to try to get whatever was in them out. And then she went still as she saw the floor under her start to freeze with a sheet of ice that almost seemed to grow on its own. She finally caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror, catching a blue fire in her eyes.
She finally caught her breath as she watched the fire disappear and she slowly stood up, nearly slipping on the ice on her floor as she heard a knock on her door.
“Weiss?” Klein called out. “Is everything okay?”
“E-everything is fine!” Weiss said as held her bed to stabilize herself. “I uh… I scared myself… with… with a book! A horror story! Nothing more!”
“If you’re sure.”
“I am!” Weiss created a few glyphs to walk over the ice on the floor so she could make it to the door. She opened it just wide enough for her to slip out and nearly slammed the door when she closed it. “Though I think now might be a good time for me to take a walk. I know father keeps you busy, but… would you come with me?”
Klein nodded. “Of course, Master Weiss. Where did you want to go?”
“Through the menagerie that mother has,” Weiss answered as she started to walk down the hall. “Just need to clear my head and looking at the animals will help.”
“Then I’ll follow your lead.”
Weiss gave a soft smile as she started to make her way through the manor and to the menagerie. She slowed her steps as she walked by each portrait, her eyes lingering at how much like a boy they made her look. Even with her hair slowly growing out, she still looked enough like the son Jacques had wanted no matter how much she tried to change that.
She stopped at one of the few portraits that had her whole family smiling, back before Winter left to be a huntress and Whitley had just been born. She reached out for it, her fingertips lingering against the frame for just a moment as she wished it all could go back to then. Weiss pulled back as soon as she saw a bit of frost start to run up the frame and quickly pulled out her scroll to look at her eyes.
“Is everything okay-”
“I-I’m fine!” Weiss said as she swatted Klein’s hand away from her shoulder. She took a breath as the flames in her eyes died down and adjusted her vest. “I’m sorry I pulled you along, but I’ve decided to go for my walk alone.”
Klein nodded and gave a small bow to Weiss. “You know where to find me if you need me.”
“Thank you, Klein,” Weiss said.
She waited until Klein had left her sight before she started to walk again, taking her way out towards the front door instead of to the menagerie like she had wanted to originally. At least, until she passed by a painting of her, Jacques, and Whitlley. She stared at the painting, a reminder of how her father had wanted a picture of the men of his family together, the reminder of how her father and others would see her.
Weiss didnt realize she had placed a hand on the painting or that it had caught fire, and she didnt care when she caught a reflection of herself in metal of a suit of armor as the fire in her eyes died down. She took a step back to watch the painting burn for a few seconds before rushing away from it.
“F-fire!” she called out. “There’s a fire!”

Weiss took a few deep breaths as she leaned against a tree, watching as the last of the ice had started to melt. Everything felt similar to when she accidentally set fire to the mansion. Her body felt weak after that much energy had been expended, though instead of feeling hot from the heat, she felt as cold as if she’d stood outside in Mantle without a jacket. But what worried her the most was if someone other than Ruby had seen her. One person knowing what she could do was easy to work around, buying off someone to be quiet was something her family excelled at, but if anyone else had seen… if Ozpin had seen… she couldnt lie about it being her semblance. Any huntsman worth their salt would know that this wasnt natural.
She finally caught her breath and sheathed her rapier. “Alright Ruby, we should head out again.”
“Are you sure you dont want to talk about what happened?” Ruby asked. “I mean, that was cool and-”
“Drop it.” Weiss pulled out her scroll and started to pull up the compass app she had installed. “And even if I wanted to talk about it, what am I supposed to say? I just thought about everything freezing to save you and then it happened?”
“That… sounds reasonable.”
“It sounds crazy!”
“Not that crazy. I mean, I stopped a dust robbery and nearly was killed by someone who did something similar to you with fire.”
Weiss snapped her scroll shut. “What do you mean someone else has done something similar?”
Ruby shrugged. “I dont know how to describe it, but it was as if they willed fire to work for them. It still sounds like it could just be a semblance, but watching you doing the same thing with ice looked familiar.”
“Still, I’d rather keep this a secret from others. Once we’re out of here, I’ll get you whatever you want just as long as you keep quiet.”
“Dont worry, my lips are sealed.”
Weiss shook her head as she watched Ruby “zip” her lips with her fingers and pinched the bridge of her nose. She still wasnt sure if she could trust Ruby to keep this quiet, but that was an issue for later. Right now, she still had to find her way towards the relics that Ozpin wanted them to pick up. And while she still didnt know where they were, she at least knew which way to go.
She moved forward through the forest, making sure to move quickly but quietly in order to avoid any more confrontations with the grimm. The nevermore that kept flying above them was starting to make her nervous, a grimm that size was not going to be easy to take down and fighting it was sure to bring other grimm out towards her. And if there was something as big as that living in the forest, she didnt want to find out what else might be out there.
And it wasnt long before Weiss and Ruby reached the edge of the treeline, her heart stopping when she could finally see the ruins she and Ruby were meant to reach… and then the nevermore soaring just above. Getting to the ruins would need a distraction, and her powers would be ideal for something like this. But with such an open space…
“I think we can go now,” Ruby said as she moved down the treeline, keeping her eyes on the nevermore. “Looks like its turning, so if we hurry, we can get to the ruins without too much trouble.”
“And how do you expect us to get out there?” Weiss asked. “If it comes back around-”
“Then we take cover!”
Weiss practically yelped as Ruby grabbed her wrist and started to pull her forward in a sprint. Not long after, she felt Ruby embrace her as the world around her started to shift and change. For a brief moment, she couldnt feel her own body, just the wind around her as if she was scattered about. And just as quickly as the sensation came, it quickly left as her head spun. She fell back into the wall of the ruins, only to feel Ruby put a hand over her mouth as the nevermore gave a loud *caw!* to lure them out with fear.
Once the nevermore was out of sight, Ruby pulled her hand away from Weiss’ mouth and sighed. “Looks like we should be fine.”
“What… what did you do?” Weiss asked.
“I used my semblance to get us out here quicker.” Ruby started to mess with the packets on her outfit to make sure everything was still in place. “Though, I have to admit, that was the first time I’ve used it to carry someone else. Usually I use it wth just me and Crescent Rose, not that I really know how it all works right now, I only managed to unlock it a few months ago-”
Weiss started to ignore Ruby’s rambling and made her way over to the relic pieces, only a few left: two white rooks, a white knight, and a black rook. She pondered carefully over which one to take, only to be interrupted by someone yelling.
“Rubes! You made it!”
“Yang!” Ruby called out as she rushed over. “This wasnt too hard for you, was it?”
Yang shook her head. “Of course not. Blake and I made it without too much difficulty. What about you guys?”
“We ran into a little trouble but then Weiss-”
“All I did was stop some grimm from coming after us with my semblance,” Weiss lied as she picked up the white knight piece. She pocketed it into her skirt and walked over to Ruby. “So, now that we have our… relic… where do we go now?”
“Ozpin said we’d need to get back up the cliff,” Blake answered. “Though, I think we may have a bit of trouble.”
Weiss was about to ask what Blake meant until she heard the nevermore overhead make a loud *caw* as it passed overhead. It was clear it had seen them. Getting to the cliffside was going to be troublesome without any sort of cover, which meant they couldnt avoid the grimm.
She readied her rapier and then looked at Ruby, pausing when she saw the girl smile and her eyes practically gleam as she unfolded her scythe. “You have a plan, dont you?”
Ruby nodded and started to rush out towards the grimm. “Just follow my lead!”
“Wait, Ruby!” Weiss called out in vain as she watched her partner dart out to get the attention of the grimm.
She took a breath and followed after Blake and Yang, using her own semblance to try to catch up as she watched the nevermore get ready to send out its feathers. She quickly weaved through, eyes widening as she watched Ruby get caught by a feather. She only had one shot to keep herself from being partnerless. Her eyes burned as she set out a chain of glyphs to block the rest of the incoming feathers, closing her eyes as the ice formed.
She slowly opened her eyes and let out a sigh of relief when she saw the feathers stopped and Ruby safe. “You could’ve gotten yourself killed!”
Ruby winced. “Yeah, but… I knew you’d have my back.”
“That doesnt matter!” Weiss pinched the bridge of her nose. “If we’re going to be partners, we have to work together. Which means not getting yourself killed!”
Ruby nodded and picked herself back up and watched the nevermore. “Yang, Blake! Try to get the nevermore over to towers! I have an idea!”
“Got it!” Yang called out.
“And then what?” Blake asked.
“Weiss and I will take care of the rest!” Ruby answered. She then turned to Weiss. “Think you can get it to sit still?”
“Of course I can,” Weiss said as she started to rush to the nevermore. She followed close behind Blake and Yang, watching them as they brought it over towards one of the ruined towers. She created another series of glyphs to freeze its wings in place and pulled back to Ruby as she watched Blake and Yang pull a ribbon through the towers to create a slingshot.
It wasnt long before she watched Ruby launch herself at the bird and slice through its neck, and all she could do was stare in awe. Rose petals fell from the sky from Ruby using her semblance to launch herself, the grimm dissipated into smoke and ash as it fell to the ground. This was already starting to shape up as an interesting year to be a huntress.

Weiss slowly put away her clothes, tired from a long day trekking through the forest and fighting grimm. She still wasnt thrilled about being on a team with Ruby, Yang, and Blake, and even less thrilled that Ruby was assigned as the team leader. Though, she did have to admit that Ruby’s plans did seem to work and she led everyone without issue.
Still, it wasnt like a child was qualified to lead a team. Everything that happened during the initiation was just a fluke. Pyrrha should’ve been her teammate, she should’ve been called as the leader of her team, and she could’ve taken care of all the grimm she ran across without help. All she had to do was use her powers and-
Weiss paused as she finished hanging the last of her suits and looked at her hand as ice started to form on her palm. She could tell flames were in her eyes without checking in the mirror anymore, all too familiar with the cold burn. It was one more thing to hide, just like wanting to be a woman from her father or hiding that she was born a boy from her team. Not that she could keep that one hidden for much longer. Even if Klein were to get her the new combat uniform, her class uniform was still going to be the men’s uniform and it’d be hard to explain away the suits and other male clothes that she had.
So why did it feel like these powers were more important to hide than anything else? Even more so than who she was from her team or who she wanted to be from her father. It wasnt like she’d get disowned for these powers, and they were easy enough to hide with her semblance as long as she kept to the same elements as her dust. But no matter how many times she used them or practiced to keep them under control, thoughts about being betrayed or killed came to the back of her mind and wouldnt leave. It was almost like these powers were a death sentence.
“Weiss, you still in here?” Yang asked as she opened the dorm door. “You’re missing out on the fun.”
Weiss tried to focus to let the fire in her eyes die down as the ice on her hand started to melt and disappear. “As much as I’d like to meet the other students and spend time mingling around to make new connections, I’ve never been great with parties.”
“You’ll be fine. Even Ruby’s enjoying herself, and she hates crowds.”
“Its not about the crowds, its about not wanting to feel overwhelmed already.” Weiss closed the closet door once she was sure her clothes were put away. “We just finished running around the forest killing grimm and trying to find relics, and now we’re expected to mingle with others? When do we get to rest?”
Yang sighed and put a hand on Weiss’s shoulder. “We’ll have plenty of time to rest before classes start. All I’m suggesting is that you come by, meet the people we’ll be going to class with, and then you can come back and finish whatever you’ve been doing. Maybe you can get to know Blake too-”
“And I’ll get to know you all as the days go,” Weiss interrupted. “For now though, I’m tired and I’d rather not deal with more people than I want to.”
“Then I’ll stay here with you.”
Weiss almost froze the closet door shut at the surprise of the offer. It wasnt that she didnt want Yang to stick around, but at the same time, most people didnt offer to stay with her. “I-I’m fine alone-”
“I get it, its been a long day and you want to rest, but that doesnt mean you have to rest alone.” Yang walked in and took a bed near Weiss. “If it makes you feel better I’ll stay quiet while you finish unpacking.”
“No, its fine, but I… are you sure you dont want to be with everyone else?” Weiss went to the bed she took for herself and started to double check the uniforms she was provided. She frowned when she saw a pair of mens uniforms. “Sticking here is going to be a bit… boring.”
“Boring’s fine,” Yang said. “I just dont want you to be alone.”
“And if I want to be alone?”
“Then you can pretend that I’m not here.”
Weiss rolled her eyes and unpacked her uniforms to get them hung up, already dreading being asked why she had a male uniform. It was bad enough that her combat gear already made her look like a boy with the way the armor was made to fit her, but being asked to wear something like this to classes? At least on the brightside she could say it was a mixup. It wouldnt be too far-fetched to believe with the amount of students that attend and then she could talk to Glynda about getting it fixed.
Still, even the thought of wearing a men’s uniform even for a day or two didnt sit all that well with her. Not that the idea of a skirt made her feel that much more calm. Sure, a skirt would make her feel a bit more comfortable, but wearing one around others with the possibility of her secret getting out…
Yang looked over. “Did they give you the wrong uniform too?”
“Y-yeah, how’d you-”
“Same thing happened to Ruby. It should be pretty easy to get those switched out. I’ll even come with you.”
Weiss looked over the uniform she had in front of her and slowly started to fold it back up again. Yang seemed nicer than she expected, nicer than Winter even. “That… that would be nice.”

sun summer maiden au either trans or fem sun
(I have some set up to do, so not quite summer maiden au, but getting there)
Sun looked at himself in the mirror with a frown as he adjusted his shirt. He couldnt quite put a finger on why his reflection looked wrong today, not like he had changed anything. He was still wearing the button up shirt with all the buttons undone, his favorite pair of shorts, and his hair was combed enough to make it look like he had been awake for a lot longer than he really had.
He took his shirt off and put on a different one with no change. No matter what shirt he wore or how many times he changed his clothes, nothing felt right.
“And you give me a hard time for taking so long to get ready,” Neptune said as he stepped out of the shower. “We’re going to be late for class again if you dont hurry.”
Sun sighed and put on another shirt. “I’ll get to class, as soon as I can figure out what’s not feeling right for me.”
“Are your clothes itchy?”
“No, they feel fine. But every time I look at myself, it always looks… off.”
“Maybe you’re finally ready to wear a shirt correctly,” Scarlet suggested.
“Its not the shirt.” Sun pulled away from the mirror and started to finish getting ready for classes. “The shirt’s fine. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.”
Neptune smirked. “Overthinking would require you to start thinking at all.”
“I do plenty of thinking!” Sun retorted.
“Were you thinking when you skipped class yesterday and ended up with detention?” Scarlet asked.
“There was also the time you followed Weiss into the girls bathroom,” Neptune added.
“And dont forget the bo-staff incident.”
Sun rolled his eyes and picked up his pack for class. “I do plenty of thinking when I want to. Besides, lectures were never my thing and Weiss and I were trying to figure out dating plans. This is different though.”
“Different how?” Neptune asked.
“I… I dont know. Like I said, I think I’m overthinking it.”
“If you’re done thinking about it, we should start heading to class.”
Sun nodded and followed Neptune out towards class. His eyes almost seemed to venture towards each of the girls he passed as he took note of what they wore. Maybe he’d been spending too much time shopping with Weiss. She’d been trying to get him to change his outfits for months and every time he’d give a reason why he couldnt. He preferred having a bit of freedom with what he wore and he wasnt a fan of what she suggested. Though, he did have to admit that there were a few things he wanted to try.
He winced a bit as he felt Neptune hit his shoulder. “What was that for?”
“I was trying to ask if you’re really planning on cheating with Weiss,” Neptune answered.
“What? No, of course not.”
“You’ve been staring at the girls for a while.”
“I-I am just admiring how they look!” Sun lied. Well, it wasnt a total lie. He was admiring them, but not for that reason entirely. “Even here, most of them seem to take pride in how they look.”
“I think Weiss is rubbing off on you.”
“Probably not as much as you think.”
“You’ve never cared about how other girls looked before.”
I’ve always cared, Sun thought to himself as he continued to class. He never not cared, he just cared differently. Seeing what Yang and Arslan wore for combat gear did seem to make him question some of his own clothing choices among other things. Something he couldnt quite admit to himself.
“I think I’m going to skip class,” he said as he turned around to walk back to the dorms. “Take notes for me.”
Neptune reached for Sun’s collar. “You cant skip class again!”
Sun stopped as he felt Neptune pull on his collar and sighed. “I’m not exactly in the headspace to listen to a lecture. Besides, there’s something I need to take care of.”
“LIke what?”
“I’ll be back by lunch. I’ll tell you then.”
“Alright, but you better be in class.”
Sun nodded and started to make his way back to his dorm, pulling out his scroll and staring at Starr’s name on the contact list. He hadnt seen his cousin in years and there was no guarantee that she would help him. Though he wasnt sure… wasnt ready to try to talk to Weiss about this. She’d either laugh at him or dump him for the thought. How else was someone supposed to react to hearing that he wanted to try something more feminine? Still, he finally dialed her number and put up a smile when he heard her voice.
“Sun, is everything okay?” Starr asked. “You dont normally call out of the blue like this.”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Sun answered as he rubbed the back of his head. “Actually, I wanted to talk to you about something. Mind if I come by your dojo?”
“Dont you have class right now?”
“Yeah, but something came up and I’m going to miss it. But that doesnt matter, I.. I do need to talk to you privately. May I come over?”
“Sure. What’s going on anyway?”
“I’ll tell you when I’m there.”
“Alright, just dont bring trouble.”
“I never bring trouble,” Sun said.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What do you think?” Starr asked with a smile. “Because I think you look great.”
“I’m… I’m not sure,” Sun said as he adjusted the wrapping around his, well her chest. Starr had her way with him and there wasnt much of a guy left in the reflection. The chest wrap made his chest look less flat, the makeup softened up his face, even the gi that Starr had picked out for him made his arms look slimmer than normal. “Everything feels… different.”
“Its supposed to. I used my semblance to help you with your look, so you must really want this if it affected you this drastically.”
“How long will this last?”
“About an hour or two. Long enough for you to get a feel about all of this.”
Sun nodded and continued to stare at his reflection. There wasnt a doubt that this was something that he wanted, and while he was happy he had a couple hours to see how he’d look, he still wanst sure if he was ready to take the plunge. While he was certain his team would support him, he was sure Neptune would give him a hard time about it. Then there was Weiss. After months of dating, he still didnt know she’d react to him wanting to become a woman.
Starr smiled at him and rubbed his shoulders. “If you like this, I know a few people who can help. Though, you do have to be careful with Polaris. She’ll talk your ears off about the magic of the maidens.”
“The maidens?” Sun asked. “From the fairytale, right?”
“Those same ones,” Starr answered as she put away her makeup. “She swears the stories are real and that the magic the maidens hold can help someone transition. Something about shaping the body of the wielder to match their mind. But that’s all it is, a story.”
Sun nodded but thought about what Starr had said. The maidens may have just been a story, but there had to be a bit of truth somewhere to it. And if he could find one, maybe they could help. “But Polaris can help, right?”
“Yeah. She can either make some medicine for you to take to transition, or she can use her semblance to speed up the process… you know, whichever you prefer.”
Sun smiled and pulled away from the mirror to give Starr a hug. “Thank you!”
“Dont mention it. But please promise to come visit more often.”
“I will.”

:O
Cat out of the bag? Maybe! I hope Ruby and Weiss become really good friends if nothing else. Also the rest of her team after the obligatory rough patch.
Keep up the good work!
ps: wouldn't it be nice if there was some Ladybug and Freezerburn in the future?

And the adventure continues :3

Aw yeh, more of this! The thought of Weiss staring in awe at Ruby after they dispatched the nevermore brings a smile to my face. Now to see what the team composition will be...
Thank you for writing!
