Not the first time I'm trying homemade desserts from @simplyfluffy1 , but it's the first time i'm trying dessert treat box. Pretty sure any girl (or anyone) would be happy to get a delicious gift box. #sapotlokalsaturday This dessert treat box contains: Japanese Iced Cheese Vanilla Chiffon - Iced cheese? my first time hearing it! Think it's cause of the icing sugar topped on the creamy but light cheese❤️ gold leaf? Feelin glam. - Cake is cloud cotton, soft but it's not overpower by the generous amount of frothy cream cheese. -Cheese is not jelak, it adds texture that melts like cotton candy with the slightest pressure between your tongue and your palate. -Slight icing sugar on top adds a level to the velvety light cake.👍🏼 Butter Marbled Cake - Nicely marbled, best eaten at room temperature. if refrigerate, reheat to taste better. Not too buttery, so it's not too heavy on the palate. Choc Hazelnut Praline Choux - Satisfied filling of the Choux is 100% cornstarch free.👍🏼,Chocolate hazelnut cream is made of whipped cream, choc and hazelnut paste you could taste it's not the ordinary custard cream (mainly eggs, cornstarch and cream). Choc Almond Shortbread - It has that crisp, taste of rich dark chocolate pushes the decadence level of a normal shortbread up a notch. Having so few ingredients in a plain shortbread, you know that it means the quality of ingredients used are good to get the great taste. 👍🏼 Overall happy with the dessert choices, it's suitable to try a variety of desserts or as a pretty appealing food gift. Was a week after Raya when I tried these kuehs. Fam got these from @kuehdayang and its pretty good. I'm no good (basically my kueh/kuih knowledge sucks) at the names of the local delicacies so let me just put it from left to right 🤭. left 1 - believe this is gula melaka (brown sugar kinda thing) with coconut shreds on top. Soft, fam said its good👌🏼. I dont usually have this so I can't appreciate the taste. left 2 - pandan on top, pulut at the bottom. This is really good my favourite. The pandan is so soft fragrantly rich with coconut milk. In room temperature the pandan layer is almost at melty level if you leave it out too long. Pulut (glutinious rice) is also soft and chewy. 👍🏼 Middle - mini cucur kinda thing. This has some beef I THINK. Mae's vegetarian game failed .very small good pleasure bites. Soft texture. right 1- pink layered kueh. taste like your above average 9 layer kueh, not bad. 👌🏼 right 2- second favourite. I enjoyed the pandan santan choices so much cause its so soft with the slight saltiness from coconut milk and the not overly sweet pandan layer. Overall we enjoyed these local delicacies . A pretty healthy bake with not alot of calories is what I prefer after high cholesterol carbs foodventures. No need for food guilt going for this Taiwanese Chocolate Castella with Belgian Callebaut chocolate chips (RM40) We enjoyed the light and fluffy cotton texture. It’s almost like Chinese/ Cantonese雞蛋糕( egg sponge cake?), up a notch with fudgy Belgian chocolate chips, which gave the cake more richness and moisture. At least 6 eggs sacrificed for this lovely moist bouncy cotton-y cake. Not your ordinary sponge cake. Having no butter , you don’t get oily fingers or plates when you’re eating this. Castella cakes are low in calories, the fact that this isn’t too sweet , is a healthy fix to dessert cravings finding it’s way to our stomach. Reckon this for y’all who wants to have a delicate cake, but still health conscious. Also, suitable for elders. #throwbacktuesday Lockdown 3.0 is kind of the best time to try bakeries too since don’t you always want to try abit of everything from a bakery shop? First visit @good.ground.bakery tucked at quiet suburban SS17, cause pass by, decided to add on into tapaoventures of MCO 3.0 Let’s talk about pastries: Carrot 🥕 cake - or carrot muffin it seems. Lemony soft cream cheese, cake texture is per what you expect of a carrot cake, though you can’t find carrot shreds. That tinge of lemon citrus taste in cream cheese makes it a good balance. Sea salt brownie (RM10)- love the fudge center. You can see for yourself on one of the pic . Sea salt balance out the sweetness, very soft crumbly butter base. 👍🏼fudge without heating up. Raspberry almond tart (RM10) - 4 raspberries nestled inside the frangipane (sweet almond paste) enjoyed the buttery crumbly crust. When you taste pastries made w butter, ya know pastries be good. Pecan cinnamon bun( RM 18)- chewy bun texture, not for me nothing to shout about this one it’s mediocre. cinnamon taste is there. I felt it was abit bland overall. Butter pecan cookies (RM 35?) - for a small size it’s not a lot, however the fragrant butter smell of the cookies justify the price . I guess there’s a lot of butter. Also pecans here aren’t cheap. Crusty crumbly texture, dough done right. 👍🏼 When you taste all these pastries could tell these beauties are made using a good amount of butter. I remember spending like close to RM 100 bucks here (93+) think had some other stuff too someone else ate it so I can’t comment the taste. My wallet just *cries* next post will be on the interior/ pricing. Would I return? A burger or a sandwich ? First pic is always the highlight . Menu on 4th pic. Had a 4 hour+ lunch here back in April. Let’s talk about the food : Beef tongue sandwich - I’m not usually one that eats animal tongue but this one is exceptional . Beef tongue nicely executed soft yet flavourful, smoked to perfection. tender packed with good amount of salt/ flavours. (Dijon mustard ) sauerkraut? Whole grain mustard? Some amount of sourness goes perfectly with the salted smoked meat and buttery soft brioche buns. 👍🏼⭐️ Mackerel pate with eggplant chips - chives complements the smoky flavoured pate. Eggplant chips are soft rather than crispy . Don’t enjoy the chewy texture. However pate is good. 👍🏼 Smoked eggplant - garnished with curry leaves . honestly there’s more smoked taste in the upper 2 dish . Couldn’t taste much jackfruit in hummus, just hummus. Flavours are weak. Hummus + eggplant is a very mushy texture result. Presentation could improve. Chicken poppers - drizzled in hot sauce. Much needed sauce, otherwise too dry for my palate. Batter: Could taste fermented shrimp paste taste in its cincalok batter. Soft batter. Meat: just chicken meat, juicy succulent meat, that’s it. Would be better if the meat is marinated in cincalok itself . Fried chicken sandwich - good, gribiche sauce (take a quick google) goes well with cincalok fried chicken. Adding a slice of cheese (Edam? Possibly?) blankets chicken well with the sauce and buttery soft pillow brioches 👌🏼 . Same fried chicken style as chicken poppers. Overall - sandwiches are the highlight along with the pate( not the chips ). Lunch menu here is very limited , dinner is better , slightly more options . Portions are small. If you’re a big eater suggest you to eat something first then come here otherwise you’ll order everything. Selamat Hari Raya to all that celebrate. Multi culture multiracial country brings a variety of food we get to enjoy. Gotta appreciate the traditional stuff sometimes 😌 Would be good to be having some kuihs right now (Malaysian pastry/ dessert). The ones from @66_nyonya_secrets was quite good. Santan (coconut milk) taste blends well with the tapioca bass. The fragrant pandan ones. You might see some crack but I still enjoy the saltiness from the creamy santan. Everything was flavourful, is like you know the kuih is good or bad when you taste it (- idk how to look and decide so), these ones are fairly good. Tapaoventures over the weekend. Fresh ikura and salmon sashimi from @topcatchfisheries Pretty fresh, been staying fresh for a few years now . Top catch is getting more popular nowadays - seeing there is a second branch in taman Megah. Used to go to the OUG - think that was first . Salmon sashimi (Rm25-30 i didnt notice) has been my go-to when you have cravings, freshness has stayed consistent . But I think price wise it has increased slightly over time. Or maybe now we have a lot more selections from different sellers to choose from. First time trying ikura (RM 25/ USD 6) from here , as good quality as Isetan KLCC ones (my go-to for ikura, those ikura that pops and melts in your mouth, bliss) Et voilà salmon sashimi bowl, just add a couple chunks of rice and some seaweed to top. Way to beat Monday blues : throwback on good breakfast @provisionsmy 1. Cheese toast with tomato soup - crunchy grilled toast with gooey cheese In the middle . Soup is flavourful and goes well with the buttery toast. 2. Scrambled eggs with tomato jam on sourdough bread - eggs nicely executed with right amount of salt and pepper. Texture is silky slime per the pic , tasty. Warm bowl of beef soup is good for rainy days comfy for your stomach too - Pre MCO 3.0 food . Not gonna lie I’m super Skeptical when i saw this cafe style looking beef noodle spot. (I’m always skeptical on cafe food 🙃) I mean, yo beef noodles is classic msian Chinese that the best is always found in hawker kinda areas. @beefbowl_my proof that I was wrong though. This post consist of 2 visits. First few pics is mixed beef, beef ball bowl ( RM 15.9”/ USD 4) . First visit . Dumbstruck with how good it is. the green chilli goes so well. Could add chilli flakes if you want . The later pics are Mixed beef, beef ball, tendon and tripe bowl (RM 18.90 / USD 5), the parts is good for health. Soft, easy to bite . But this visit didn’t have enough soup, I felt would be better if more soup was in the bowl. Overall the taste is still rich flavourful. Both bowls come with radish cylinder cubes. Soft easy to bite . Both visits soup is equally flavourful, but more soup would have been better. Note: in my opinion, it’s more of a Thai beef noodle soup kinda taste cause as you see the coriander + chilli flakes results in a very rich Thai spices soup base taste and you get to choose rice noodles. Overall the price is of course more than your average hawker store beef noodles. Happy Saturday 😴 Tried @spadesburger Oh My Pork level 2.0 on Tuesday ( I had to think, thought was last Friday ) consist of : -pork slices -pork katsu -pork patty -pork bacon 🥓 It’s like the ultimate food for you went halal but you came back. Always super juicy pork patty , the katsu is abit dry but it’s balance out with the rest of the ingredients . Pork slices are flavourfully marinated . Pork bacon is bacon 🥓. When you take it all in one bite, it’s a burst of meat flavours , like for ppl who craveee meat . It can be quite savoury compared to Baconiser which has bacon bits . But overall still a good burger . Gotta say , never into pork burger till I tried the juicy patties here. Penang has done well! #tbt weeks ago, visited @puns_icecreamkl after my almost weekly last visits in July 2020, I was hooked on the prawn burger 😭that is unfortunately now not on menu. *hinting prawn burger comeback request 😇 This time tried: - refer menu on pic 8 Beef burger (RM20 / USD 5) - it’s subjective. Me and another friend had this last year but we didn’t like it so much because it’s a chunky hand cut beef patty, maybe that time too salty. However, this time a different group of friends love the chunky flavourful beef patty, salted just right . Definitely a lot more chewy chunky not so minced because it’s all hand chopped. So choice is up to you. Corn burger (RM 15/ USD 4) - corn fritter patty, onion tomato salsa. 😅 I didn’t enjoy cuz think the slight sour taste didn’t suit well with burger overall. Also it gets mushy in the middle. But friend was fine with it . Staff was nice enough to ask if everything was ok cause I was eating patty and the buns separately 🙃(cause Taste better like this lol or just me :p) BUT! I emphasise I enjoy the buttery buns! Especially with the potato strings from the fried chicken plate. PFC Pun’s fried chicken (RM22 / USD 5.5) - felt the battered chicken improved a lot from last year , it’s a lot more juicy flavourful tender . I remember it used to be pretty dry, even tho it was nicely battered. 👍🏼also there’s really crispy airy potato strings ! There is still the fish burger I yet to try. Definitely hoping for the comeback of the hollandaise sauce prawn burger ! P.s it closes in evening, not open for dinner. Remember well it’s sunny cause we were complaining hot af before staycation check in otw and Isaac was like NO you should be grateful no rain (cause it’s been raining consecutively the whole week) Anyway, we found out about this lala bihun ( clam rice vermicelli ) cause Yy saw it on some post online ? And there was still a Q at 230pm 😪 had to separate 2 tables cause SOP idk bout now tho. the signature lala noodles soup (RM12? / USD 3). Tastefully spicy flavourful I love the Chinese wine taste in the soup. Also, the generous amount of lala (clams )given is so satisfying. if you don’t like spicy it doesn’t suit you. Lala fried bihun my friends love it more . I find it more bland as compared to the signature spicy wine soup. The wok hei is not bad . Shoutout to super underrated bar food spot 👍🏼. Highlight was the crispy pork with honey, CRISPY AF . We were quite amaze. my fave is the super crispy pork (belly?) thinly crisp and right amount of sweetness . In general words it’s like kyochon honey fried chicken but imagine only the crispy skin and tad bit more salty , perfecto. Truffle cheese fries is the second highlight . Homie said it’s the right amount of truffle and cheese, not overpowering truffle flavour and generous Parmesan cheese sprinkled. Perfect 👌🏼 Honey chicken wings be third fave - or technically that’s all we ordered lol. But it’s very similar to crispy pork honey so id say go for the crispy pork honey . Wouldn’t have discover this place if it weren’t friend recommended. Cause it’s shady sketchy looking af tbh if we were passing by we wouldn’t have thought of eating here 😂- no wonder friend said not a lot of crowd I could see why 😂 gladly visited this spot , clean toilet, enjoyed the outdoor privacy sitting ( since everyone else was indoors) catching up seeing all the cars jamming up. Brunch? Tea time ? Breakfast ? Works either way with @tommylebaker_kgattap Roast Steak Sourdough Sandwich and Mozzarella and Tomatoes sourdough Tartines. The tartine is pretty good, drizzled with sweet balsamic vinegar and pesto/ olive oil. Absolutely loveeee the buffalo milk mozzarella, I’m a sucker for burrata so 😄👍🏼 Sandwich was abit of miss for me imo, steak wasn’t as soft (probs suppose to be like that ) I find it abit tough chewy - I think also cause the week before I had the beef tongue sandwich pretty soft meat. That wasn’t really an issue. Mainly is the combination with baby gherkins, Dijon mustard makes it too sour adding on that it is a sourdough bread. But the aged cheddar was good. My first visit to this chill semi outdoor cafe spot seems like sourdough is the signature bread here 😃 Also had a takeaway of quiche - flavourfully filling .
