Never going to get over the fact that in "The Royal Blacksmiths" Lou wasn't actually mad about the ninja part, he was explicitly upset about Cole's plan to steal the Blade Cup. Not once does he say anything against Cole being a ninja. Sure, maybe the whole theft thing overshadowed the ninja bit and Lou would have been just as mad, but like. His whole "I'm not gonna stand here and watch as you make a mockery of our family legacy!" line was after lines about how disappointed he was that Cole wanted to steal the Blade Cup. He said nothing about Cole being a ninja.

Which, given everything we've learned about Lily since, makes the family legacy line even more OUGH AUGH OUWOUGH

Harry and Lily Luna 🌸

Whenever Harry got the opportunity to pick up his kids from school, he took it, especially his little Lily Lu. There was something special about the way her face would light up as she sprinted towards him to give him a bone-crushing hug. It made his day so much brighter.

Harry always brought her a flower, and she would act surprised with her hand clasped over her mouth every single time. She always complained she was tired just so she could con Harry into giving her a piggyback ride (let's be honest, she didn't need to try very hard), as she chatted animately the whole way home. Harry listened to every single word and asked her lots of questions to keep her engaged.

They would take the long way home, stop by their favorite cafe, and grab everyone's favorite dessert. Lily's just happened to be treacle tart too, so they would get an extra slice and share it at the cafe just to make sure it still tasted the same, and like always, Lily would tell Harry it's hard to tell with one slice and she needed another one just to make sure. It worked every single time. When they got home, Ginny would cross her arms and give them a look, and within seconds, she got her to admit the truth: "We only had one slice, mommy. Okay, two, MAYBE three… Fine, we had four, but only because we had to make sure it still tasted yummy."

What if pandora never got over the fact that she lost all of her friends in the span of a couple years?

What if she shut off her emotions for so long after that, threw herself to experimenting with potions, because it reminded her of the simpler times when she and regulus brewed stuff in slughorn's lab that reg had special access to, as their friends chattered.

What if she felt as if it was solely her shortcoming because she saw all of this unravel before, she was just too scared of her visions, or rather what they implied if they were true; she never believed for a second his boys would turn out to be evil, so she ignored it all till she couldn't?

What if Evan wasn't there anymore when her gift became too much to bear?

What if her unwavering belief in her friends and who they could be clouding the reality became the reason for all of their downfall in the end?

What if the experiments were a distraction that let her live in the delusion that these people she still cares about so deeply despite everything; are still alive and well somewhere, that she didn't fail at protecting them, that it didn't all go up in flames.

What if her unchanging wish for all these years was that the smart red headed girl she let slip through her fingers got to raise her kid?

What if she was distant like her parents because it hurt to feel? What if she wanted Luna to know about her chosen family, let their memory live on, but it was so painful talking about them that she felt like she could never get it right and shut down? What if she became the mom to Luna she swore she'd never be, distant and dismissive? What if she felt like she failed in the end?

What if she never went and looked for Harry because she was failing at being a mom as it is? What if she swore she could feel Lily's disappointment in her? What if she felt like she let her down the most?

What if it wasn't an experiment went wrong or a precaution forgotten to be taken? What if she just didn't care anymore? She just missed her people and hoped to be with them, leave her guilt behind?

What if her last thought was that she failed everyone?

And what if the last thoughts of the rosier twins mirror each other?

hi uh, i didn’t think i would have much to say about Waterloo - A Marauders Era Short Film by the Mischief Productions. so i simply wasn’t gonna make a post.

and then i watched this not even two minute long short film 😀 anyways hi what the fuck

they were LAUGHING!!! the girls were LAUGHING and marlene was giving mary and lily the side eye for their gay shenanigans.

and everything was bright and happy and dancing and laughing and then!!! spoilers!!!! MARY FUCKING OBLIVIATES HERSELF OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL

Just got done Chapters 3 & 4 and I really gotta give you kudos on your ability to really build up the tension and intrigue! Firstly setting up the start of the third chapter by having it play out in a much more comfortable setting, then BAM Celestia's mask slips off for a moment, perfectly setting up that she's hiding something. (or perhaps, someone?) And then, following that up when the nightmare sequence starts off with three simple words that immediately demand your attention, that was wonderfully executed! And just, everything with how Sunset and Twilight already seem connected by some string of fate, it makes it hard to put a pause in reading! Or maybe I'm just a nerd. Both are likely! Also, really really like how the perspective switch was handled, giving Sunset a quick little section that very clearly lets it be known she's the POV, before Twilight takes the spotlight back with her aggravated and stressed tone! Delightful use of emotions in storytelling!

hehe ty! the nightmare transition was rlly fun to write, it was one of the scenes i was rlly solid on in my head and it turned out pretty much exactly as id pictured. i hope you enjoy the version of celestia in this fic too! shes definitely a bit different from canon, so i hope those differences can still contribute to a compelling character ^^

and, im glad you liked the pov switch! honestly, it's one of the parts of the fic im most dissatisfied with bc i was soooo close to sticking w one pov the entire time but the plot Just Would Not Let Me so i tried to make the switch as painless as possible haha

uhhh idk lily thoughts (I'm about to spew critical rambling bullshit, big sorry. these things are my badly worded opinions and nothing else.)

thinkin bout how my feelings for Lily are so complicated tbh.. in canon, I cannot like her. I just can't. The disconnect between what the narrative tries to tell us about her and the reality of who she is and what she does are just too jarring to me. for all that she's meant to be a paragon of virtue and goodness, her actions and choices come across wrong and off and bad in a way that is visceral to me, as someone who has been bullied and sexually assaulted myself. And to clarify, I'm not talking about her breaking off her friendship with Severus; she had every right to do that, and I dont think I've seen a single Snape fan actually seriously state otherwise - but because she *knowingly and deliberately chose to get with an abusive bully.* That she and Snape were no longer friends is irrelevant to me. I understand not everyone feels this way, and that's fine. But It's important to me, and so it carries weight to me. The implications are just too offputting to me, and yes, I am biased. Snape is my favorite little guy, after all. I dont pretend otherwise. To each their own, and she, as written in canon, is certainly not for me, historical context and location be damned.

So i can't like her in canon. If anything, I cant help but feel acute resentment for her character, because it feels almost like betrayal to be told "here is a perfect and good person" and then get.. that. Ironically, I would like her a whole lot more if the narrative didnt try insist on her goodness and instead was just like "actually, ngl she was kinda shitty sometimes. questionable as hell. she was a bit of a gremlin and a little bit fucked up" because then it would feel honest. she would no longer feel like a hypocrite to me, and then those moments of kindness would carry more weight, would feel more meaningful. Her actions would be more believable, would feel more nuanced and I would maybe even love her.

...and that, ultimately is what my problem with her is. she has all the potential to be such an interesting character, but she instead falls short of being a full character at all. it's not her fault; this is a jkr skill issue (and her portrayal of female characters in general leaves A Lot to be desired.), so in the end i'm not too pressed.

its exactly why i like Lily so much more in the context of fanworks. Canon lily? offputting. An incomplete character. but fanfic lily? such potential! she could *actually* be the good person she was meant to be and make different choices or at very least have reasoning that makes more sense! or she could go a new direction entirely and be an absolute gremlin menace alongside Snape and in the process, add more interest and nuance that way! all of these things are enjoyable, and for this reason i cannot say I truly hate her - because I do love her so so much when people make her their own and make her make sense, to do her justice and preserve what - i think - would have been that spark that brought Severus and Lily together in the firstplace - whether it be genuine kindness, or a friendship based on being able to relate to one another at a deeper level, on having that shared weirdness together, or even both things! (that's not to say I love every portrayal; and sometimes there are pet peeves, but they do not ruin the character for me in that scenario, for the simple reason that in these fics she *IS* ultimately a full character, which is more than what can be said about canon lily.) ... and that's the joy of fanfics and fanart and creation, isnt it? that you can make your own ideas come to life, put things together in a way that makes sense to you, and see how others would make a these stories and characters come to life. its why I can despise the marauders in their canon, and yet ship everyone of them with Severus given the right scenario. it's why I can dislike snily in the context of canon, and see their relationship as purely platonic under that lens, and yet wholeheartedly ship them otherwise in the context of fanfics and fanworks. It's why when I say i ship Severus Snape with literally everyone I can truly and genuinely mean it. Because I do. I think theres always room for a scenario, for a characterization, or AU, to allow for it. Fiction is a lovely and magical thing, and it ultimately exists for enjoyment, for entertainment and creativity.

anyway, idk if i worded this wrongly or weirdly but tldr: I dislike and am put off by canon lily, but I love what lily can be, what she could be, what she SHOULD be, I love what fans are able to do with her, I love what I wish she was.
