Of Light and Darkness: The Rising Darkness pt. 5
Tumblr media
Rated: Mature (yeah check the warnings folks)
Pairing: Obi Wan Kenobi X Reader
WARNINGS!: DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU ARE NOT IN A GOOD MENTAL PLACE! Death/ Dying, survivors guilt, depression, Suicidal thoughts/ ideations, PTS flare up, angst, talk of medical procedures and autonomy (previous denial alluded too), stress reactions, cursing, and Cannon typical violence. Uh yeah not light reading...
But also hurt/comfort, fluff, kissing, marriage proposals... so not all bad!
A/N: I take no credit for the movie dialogue that is all the work of the wonderful Mr. Lucas!!!! THIS IS A LOVING WORK OF FANFICTION!!! With that said I did take more than a few liberties but I tried to pull from the film/ books and meld it into a cohesive piece. Much love to all the prequels and the folks there in!
With all said I will take this opportunity to say that it will be a minute till the next part! I have to figure out how I want this to follow the series and frankly this part just wiped me out. Hope y'all enjoy!

Words: 9000ish... yeah it was worse before i edited. ENJOY!
“Droid get over here with that...”
“I need more bandages!”
“No you will not kriffing take my patient until I'm done with them! I don't care what your CO said, your CO can bite me!”
It was the chorus of an all to familiar ture that you awoke to, smelling blood and bacta and battlefield. Laying in a triage area surrounded by troopers and Jedi alike, cots or the red dirt floor shaking with the ever nearing hits of artillery. Every inch of your body aching as you swung your legs down, the ground began to spin. Yes, you knew this waltz well, but dear Force how you wished the dance would stop.
“Ma'am can we take this bed?”
Glancing up at the medic in his polished armor you observed the trooper on the litter. He bled from the socket where his eye should have been, long painful gashes in the wake of shrapnel. Making a give over motion you assisted the transfer, urging the injured man to lay back as the medic administered a sedative. Defaulting to work mode you began to assess the man. “The wound needs cleaning and fresh bandages then send him straight through to the surgeon.”
“We can't ma'am, surgery was hit. This is it till we can get the ships off the ground again.” The medic tilted his helmet at you in silent resignation.
“Dear merciful Force.” Pain, so much pain and death. “Whose in charge of this mess?”
The trooper points to the loudest of the beings working among the wounded. Braids covered in dust and mud, face weary but focused as she barked orders over the din. “You will return them to this triage and those troopers will receive care! I don't give a flying KARK you fucking droid, they've earned every opportunity we can give them!”
In all of her time as a rescue specialist, even after all the missions Tyra had never seen anything like this. It reminded her of the stories her grandfather told of the war on her home world. The small Jedi who assigned her the task had motioned with his staff and simply replied...
“For the Valkar search the field of battle, and the brave shall they return.”
Her squad had been at it for hours even after the small Jedi had returned with Kaboomie, Speedster and you. Tyra would have liked to see all three of you onto the nearest ship, but with the limited space available choices had been made. She saw to your care personally with some assistance from a Mirialan named Barris. Tyra would give the girl this, she was a good healer. Heck the kid had done her best with every critical case till she'd passed out from the effort and had to be laid down too.
Looking at the next set of incoming wounded Tyra prayed to every one of her Gods for strength. Not that they often listened to her cries.
“Glitch!” Making your way over you waived to the young woman. She was no longer that student you had taught, years in the field giving her a commanding edge. Then again she had always been more an adult than youngling, “Tyra!”
“Boss!”
The women embraced, relief marking both their faces. You were the first to pull back giving her a tired smile, “Report?”
“Same shit, different day. Thank the All Father I won't sing your tale tonight. Scared the hell out of us,” She tried to get you to sit but you waived the effort off. Figures that if the Boss is awake she's back to work. “We barely have transport up and going and even that's sketchy, never seen Deek so steamed. No tower, barely reliable comms, control of the ground is non existent. Top that off no surgery.”
“So I was told. Do we still have supplies?” At Glitch's nod you glanced around. There were two grounded troop transport ships that were heavily damaged near by. While those birds would never fly again they could still serve, “Do those still have power?”
“Yeah, why?”
You'd made do with far less before and these men needed a surgeon. “Get that equipment into the ships, we have work to do.”
Obi Wan had seen Anakin and the Senator to the transport off planet and then rejoined Master Koon at the forward operations. Masters Yoda and Windu were somewhere on the battlefield, but after the droids had barraged the operations center, communications broke down. Light turned to dusk before order was restored. Always in the back of his mind you were there, the image of your unconscious form on the bed as he had left. Were you awake now, had you been sent to a ship already?
“Sir, we've received multiple transmissions of men trapped in the catacombs below the foundry. What are your orders?”
Obi Wan looked to the Clone commander, CC-2224 as he had Identified himself, grim expression falling across his features. Those men would require special extrication, especially if there was structural damage. It would cost time and men that their dwindling forces may not be able to afford. On the other hand it would cost his soul not to at least try. These men had risked life and limb to save him and the other Jedi, honor dictated that he must endeavor to return their brothers to them. Glancing at the Commander's helmet Obi Wan gave a nod, “Gather a team and what equipment you can Commander, I will accompany you.”
“Sir, yes Sir.”
The man beneath the helmet closed his eyes in relief. His trainers had prepared Cody for many scenarios. Retrieval and rescue, negotiations, incursion drops, but never how to bury so many his brothers. Never how to deal with the guilt of sending them to their assured death. What they had taught them was to trust in their chain of command, so that is what Cody would do.
“Vessia raise that retractor... Yeah there! Ok, suction,” After a while the bodies began to blur together. Collapsed lungs, skull fractures, missing limbs... you didn't feel like a doctor, you felt like a butcher. “Alright there's the bleed. Clamp off, sew, then seal him up until we can get a transport.”
Most of what you were performing was considered stabilization procedures until the troopers could be seen on the hospital ship in orbit. As the only fully trained Doctor you had to hop from table to table when there was a question of need. It was a motley crew, former students some of whom you hadn't seen in years. Vessia who was in her intern year after Medical School was beside you, hands once uncertain now efficient and skilled. The Senators daughter had changed much, finding her purpose in healing. Maru, who was currently running the blood donation chair, had left the RRC active branch preferring to work on the admin side of things. Yet here he was alongside you all. You could feel his old terrors coming to the surface again, but he remained stalwartly working. The strongest of bonds were ever forged in the fire of combat, at least that's what Master Melri had often said.
Then there was the Padawan who had been left in your charge. Barris Offee didn't have the same training you'd had at that age, but she was a hard little worker and adapted quickly. She stood at the table to your back while Vessia handled procedures at the other. The normally peaceful Mirialan was now face to face with a healers worst nightmare and you felt horribly for her. Having to remind Barris again and again that she must refrain from any more Force healing and to focus on clinical work set a knot in your gut. It was a simple equation though, she could use her abilities to heal a few while injuring herself or help the many that would surely follow the first. The girl's frustration was ever palpable, but in the end had deferred to your command.
“Master L/n, I require your assistance.” Barris had never felt so helpless in her life. It was as if all the light of the Force had gone out, leaving only the cold of death that now surrounded this place. This man on her table was barely breathing, but surely... “What about him.”
Glancing down at the trooper you could see he was beyond even your ability to save. Multiple blaster shots including the one that had penetrated his helmet, it was a ghastly sight. And yet he struggled still for breath, his brothers looking at the two Jedi with hope in their eyes. You wished there was something you could do for this young trooper to save his life, but all you could offer was a peaceful passing. “I'm sorry Barris...”
“NO! You gotta try damn it! He's still alive!”
One of the mud stained commandos screamed, ripping off his helmet as others tried to console him. The crying man cursed, yelling how they couldn't let his brother die. Not his last batch mate. Storming right up, he barked in your face demanding you save his brother. It was in that moment that you saw Barris cry, silent sorrow rolling down her cheeks. Damn this day, Damn Dooku, but above all damn yourself for failing them all.
“I cannot save him. I would if it were possible, but I cant. I am so sorry.”
“Can't or won't!?” He screamed again, but in truth there was a part of Fi that knew. “Why... Why Why WHY!!!”
“I'm sorry... more than you know.” Turning to the young Padawan you pulled her close, whispering. “Barris. I must ask a difficult task of you.”
The girl wiped her eyes quickly, “Yes?”
Looking from her to the bed and then the other downed craft across the narrow dirt you sighed. As with so many things today it was the only comfort you could offer these poor men. “Take the stretcher and place this trooper in the curtained part of the recovery. Let them say good bye.”
Barris stood stock still, as though doused in ice. “What are you saying?”
“He won't last much longer Healer Offee. All we can do is ease one brother's pain and grant the other dignity in their death.” You could see the light slowly dwindling out of her eyes and hated yourself even more. Giving her a nod you turned to the newest patient on your table and started to glove up again. “Give them however long they need.”
Barris wanted nothing more than to run from this place, but that was not the Jedi way. They were keepers of the peace, guardians of the light even when they could not feel it's presence. Wiping away her tears she took hold of the litter and began to guide it. The Commando's brother took the other side, face scrunched in anger. Bringing a chair and a blanket, Barris covered the injured man as the other sat watch. “What's his name?”
“RC-...”
Barris shook her head, “No, I mean what do you call him?”
Fi hadn't expected the Jedi to ask that, it was a very personal and private thing. Most clones' names were known only to their batch mates or their training sergeant maybe. Looking into the young woman's dark eyes though he felt comforted that someone else would do such a kindness as to call them by their chosen name. To treat him and the others as men. “We called him Sen.”
“Hello Sen, I thought you might be cool. My name is Barris,” smoothing the blanket over the man she could already feel his breathing becoming staggered. Biting her lip she began to murmur, “Thank you Sen for saving us, for saving me.”
Fi watched the young woman as she tucked his brother in like a cadet, gently and with great care. She seemed as lost as any of them, hell nobody should be in this place. Taking his brother's hand, Fi gave it a squeeze, “It's what we were made for ma'am.”
“Barris.” She replied quietly.
Swallowing hard, he looked into her sad eyes. “Fi.”
Sunlight rose on the second day, not that Obi Wan could tell really. Deep in the dark of the catacombs he and the troopers searched. Hall by hall, digging into the places where transmissions had dissipated to faint cries and banging. They had come across some of the lost Jedi from the missing assault team as well as tracking down the missing clones. He recalled how you would feel agitated on many a mission needing the balm of action. It was the waiting that tortured him and the other men the worst now. Waiting for an attack, waiting to find even one being alive, waiting for this all to end.
“Sir! Up ahead,” Cody called as he desperately ripped into the rock. The slight glow from a HUD light breaking the darkness of the rockfall. “Hold on trooper, we're here!”
“Commander be careful,” Obi Wan spoke too late watching as more unstable rock started to avalanche onto the man. Racing over with the others everyone started to frantically dig both men out.
“Damn Stupid osik'ri... get himself killed!” Alpha 22, or Deuce, wanted to wring the commanders neck. But as they uncovered the officer, he thought better of it. Lifting the Commander's helmet, Deuce found Cody was struggling to breathe. The rock fall damaged the air intake, the bucket all but dead weight now. “Oiya! Take it easy Vod'ika... There ya go.”
“The...(cough) commando...”
Deuces nodded and continued digging as the medics took the injured Commander to the side. The Jedi, Kenobi, joined in. Digging until they uncovered the still lit helmet, slowly extracting the rest of the man. Shaking his head sadly Deuces thought the worst, until the Jedi gave a rough rub on a pressure point and the Commando drew a gasping breath. “Medic! Medic Up! Hey you keep karking breathing, don't you fucking die!”
“Easy he may have a head injury,” Obi Wan helped to ease the injured commando onto the stretcher. “Commander go with them to the aid...”
“But Sir, we need to...”
“CC-2224 you deaf or being insubordinate? Get your shebs to the evac, MOVE!” Deuces barked, “and get a new bucket while you're at it.”
Cody sheepishly tucked the damaged one under his arm, pausing as Kenobi tapped his shoulder, “Sir?”
“If you should see Master L/n at the aid station, please let her know where we are.” Obi Wan said it before he could decide against it. He wasn't even sure if you were still on the ground, but if you were he knew how worried you must be. “Thank you Commander.”
“Yes Sir.” Cody's curiosity was peaked, but gave a nod not wanting to inquire further. The Jedi had a funny look as he had spoken, but who was Cody to question it. He was a soldier, what did he understand past that?
“All father help us... hey get those new suture packs and IV fluids over here!” Tyra watched as the latest batch of wounded were off loaded. She hated that there was so little to be done, only start fluids and get them to the hospital ship for a dunk in a tank. Shaking her head Tyra lamented also seeing the young Jedi healer in a different form of pain as she tried to comfort the injured. Worst of all she hated seeing you half propped on a stool as you continued to do surgery along with her and Vessia, soldiering on because you refused to leave them in this mess alone when you should be up on that ship like the rest of the wounded.
This was madness at it's finest and Tyra could all too easily now empathize with her former mentor who had been so harsh in their lessons. Muttering to herself she readied to stitch up another incoming trooper, “Forgive me Bern, you were right... Hey Trooper what's your name?”
“Ma'am, CC-2224.” Cody saw the displeased look on the short female's face and offered over his name. “Is there a Jedi called L/n here, I have a message for them.”
“Yeah,” You hollered over the din, carefully pealing off the many layers of extra thick armor from the patient on your table. Turning to the medics you became brusk, “You need to strip them before they get here, I want trauma naked and injuries exposed! Pass it along.”
“I have a message,” Cody tried to stand but the pink haired medic who was cleaning the wound on his head shoved him back down.
“Tell her from here. Hold still or this will scar worse than it's already gonna,” Glitch smirked at her patient, giving him a wink. “Don't worry handsome, the ones who matter won't mind a bit.”
“Don't tease the poor man Glitch. What's the message?”
Cody had to peer at the Jedi from the corner of his vision, “Master Kenobi wanted you to know he was in the catacombs with our platoon. He wanted you to know...”
Your heart swelled and a brief smile crossed your face. You hadn't know for hours where Obi Wan had gotten too, if he was alright. It was a relief, one weight lifted from your shoulders. Closing your eyes in silent thanks you nodded to the man on Glitch's table. “Thank you Commander, I appreciate the update.”
Cody was a little perplexed at your reaction, until he heard the medic stitching his temple chuckle. Raising an eyebrow, the young woman she smiled at him.
“You just made her day, you know that.” Tyra smirked, lowering her voice so only the man could hear. “Boss won't always say much, but it's a great kindness you've done. And for that...”
The small woman bent down as she finished the last stitch, pressing her lips gently on his forehead. Cody froze as she kissed him, it was sweet and stars knew he hadn't imagined his first kiss to be like this.
“...you deserve a reward. Now you best go get another bucket cause this one is toast.” Glitch grinned at the blushing soldier on her gurney. As he began to walk towards supply she yelled to him, “Hey 2224?”
Cody turned back at the edge of the craft, “Ma'am?”
Tyra sauntered over to grip the top of his chest plate. The man was weary, looking perhaps a bit lost amongst the din. With a chuckle she pulled him down and gave him a real kiss. Nothing fancy, just a touch of sweetness on a bitter day. “You be safe out there soldier. And don't go messing up that sewing, huh.”
“Yes ma'am.” He smirked at the little thing as she swayed her hips back to the surgery. He wasn't sure if it was the kiss or the rush of being alive, but in that moment Cody felt he could take on the whole damn planet. Strutting towards supply the Commander felt ten feet tall.
“Glitch stop teasing the men and get back to work,” You couldn't help a slight smirk. Unprofessional as it was, you were pleased by the smile the man had as he left. In the present moment though the patient on your table had severe crush injuries and would need to be evacuated with the next load of wounded. Starting two intravenous lines you took in his injuries, both legs would need surgery and extensive rehabilitation. He was alive though and that was a miracle in and of itself. “Hey, what's your name?”
“A'den,” He tried to keep his eyes open.
You smiled down at him, “Well A'den we're going to get you well again. For now though I'm going to give you something for the pain, is that alright with you?”
He had never been asked before, never given the option. It confused him that this medic wasn't simply doing what was necessary, instead giving him the choice. “Ma'am?”
“It's ok if you don't want too,” You could tell he was uncomfortable in more ways than one, so you tried a different approach. “How about a little something to take the edge off, it won't make you disoriented like a sedative.”
“Whatever you think's best ma'am.”
“Good, lean back. Now I'm gonna have you moved to the staging area and soon you'll be on the ship.” You could see the moment the medication started to work, the man's body relaxing ever so slightly. He was so covered in dust that you had to wipe it away to get a better look. Even careful as you were he was skittish, like a newborn colt. Finally satisfied with your exam and that he would remain stable, you had A'den transferred to staging. Over and over it was like that through the night.
At dawn you saw the Council and other remaining Jedi start to trickle back into the staging area. They, like the troopers, asking if you had seen someone. An apprentice, a master, a batch mate; it made no difference Jedi or clone, all were searching. The lists were posted by the recovery craft; Alive, wounded, missing and dead. You could tell the answer by the sounds or lack there of after people looked. But every so often you would hear something that eased the pain just a little, you heard the happy cries of a reunion. It was few and far between but it was something to hold to.
You were on one of the two final transports out, lifting off as the last troop transport did. It was like a bad case of deja vu, Deek in the cockpit with you, Barris, and Glitch in the back. You felt old, especially looking at the two younger responders.
“Hey kid, how you holding up?”
Barris looked to the girl called Glitch, dazed and uncertain. “I'm sorry?”
“She want's to know if you're doing alright,” You pipped in from across the cabin, “Are you?”
“A Jedi...”
“Barris,” reaching across to take her hand the girl paused. How long ago had it been that you sat on that side of the jump seat? Had you ever been that wide eyed or young? It seemed now that you had always been this tired and old. But you knew that once, long ago you had been just as this young one here needing guidance. “It's ok to say it. I wish I had the power to save everyone, but I can't... we never can. You gave it your best and that's all anyone can ask or do. It's alright to mourn the losses, not just celebrate the victories.”
Glitch pursed her lips before speaking, “You showed them kindness and compassion whether you could save them or not. Ain't a finer thing you can do than that. It's ok to be human little space wizard, hell makes you one of us.”
“Master L/n?” Barris' voice cracked as the last of her reserve evaporated. She was like a water pitcher that had run dry, nothing left to give and hollow feeling. “How... how do you let it go? The men we lost, the Jedi?”
“In some ways I don't. I remember what the experience taught me and train harder, so that their sacrifice meant something. I wish I could say that this is the last time, that you won't lose someone again, but I can't.” Shadows darkened your face as the ship made it's approach to the docking bay. Giving Barris a kind look, you graveled out the last words. “It's in learning to walk with those ghosts that defines how we move forward.”
Mace waited as the last of the ships arrived from the surface, sentinel till all returned. The battle had been arduous, the aftermath unbearable. So many good Jedi lost, the galaxy in turmoil, and all because of Dooku. He shouldn't have let his bias paint his view of the man because he had once been a colleague. Now the Separatists had a powerful ally and the future of the Republic rested on the shoulders of the Order. Mace knew, felt the shifting in the lines of fate that this was only the beginning of the journey. That the path ahead would be just as painful, bloody, and long.
“Master Windu, have you seen Barris?” Luminara came to stand beside the Council head.
Turning slightly he nodded greetings to his fellow Jedi, “I believe she is with Y/n.”
“Safe hands then.” Luminara sighed in relief, what she wouldn't give to reverse time and ordered her apprentice to stay on Couriscant. What was done was done though, now all of them would have to deal with this terrifying new world. “I suppose we are the lucky ones.”
Watching as the craft door opened he considered the statement. Were they the lucky ones or were the ones who had passed and spared what was to come more fortunate? Mace observed as you escorted the young Padawan. He didn't miss as Master Undulii's breath caught at the sight of her apprentice, wan and weary. At least this Master still had her apprentice, not many today could claim that. “Luck has nothing to do with it. We trained them well.”
Barris walked slowly towards her Master, you and Glitch on either side. You knew all too well that hollow look in her dark eyes. The girl was past done and needed a long rest, more so she needed to stay somewhere the hell away from any action. It had been a baptism of fire and in many ways it reminded you of what had happened to Maru. But unlike the Bothan there was nowhere for this Padawan to hide from the conflict, no transfer to admin. Master Undulii, normally so serene in appearance, now stood with slumped shoulders and only the veneer of calm. Glancing at the more senior Master you knew she understood that this mission had broken the girl.
“Barris,” She paused feeling a ripple in the girls signature, tear streaks marring her face. Embracing her Luminara held tight, like when she had been a frightened youngling. “There now, you are safe.”
“Get some rest, you did very well today. Couldn't have run that aid station without you Barris.” You handed an injector to Master Undulii, a sedative. She took it with a grim nod of thanks. Glitch gave an affectionate pat on your Master's shoulder and left to clean up at the slop sink. Master Windu looked as tired as you felt. “Master...”
Mace pulled you into a hug, “I'm so thankful that you've returned safely.”
The dam within you began to crack, the air rushing from your lungs with a great sigh. Regret, sorrow, guilt all swirling and engulfing you whole. You were unable to draw breath for what felt an eternity, tremors in you hands that indicated a larger storm brewing. Master Windu pulled back giving your shoulders a reassuring squeeze, ever patient and guiding. Over and over all you could say was, “I'm sorry.”
“This was not your fault Y/n. You and Obi Wan did well. Your Apprentice did his duty and all of you are alive.” He was proud of you all. The three of you had conquered near insurmountable odds to simply survive this slaughterhouse. Mace could only hope that same fortune would continue to carry you through this conflict to come. Yet under the surface he sensed damage, the fissures within your psyche emanating pain. “I do think you could do with some rest though.”
“Pffft.... Right.” Taking a few steadying breaths you stuffed your feelings away for later as you had often done. It did not serve to have a breakdown in front of the head of the council, even if they had been your Master. Wiping away any stray moisture you felt as the fatigue hit, scrubbing your hands across your face. “Kark I could use some Kaf.”
“I believe that the mess hall can assist you,” Mace chuckled and shaking his head, “And there is someone on C deck who would be glad to know you're back.”
Even exhausted you knew better than to let your guard down, “Is Anakin out of recovery already? He should still be...”
Half bemused Mace muttered, “I'm certain that the boy would appreciate seeing you as well.”
Master Windu gave yet another piercing look, you continued to act unaffected. Best not to contemplate the possibilities on days like this. “Has Anakin really been giving you that big a headache?”
“We both know I'm not referring to Skywalker.” While Mace had to admire your extreme level of discretion, he had long known of your relationship with Kenobi. Part of him had made peace with your involvement given the dedication both Jedi continued to show the order; never succumbing to the temptation of possession. You two had been thick as thieves since apprenticeship, even for as many times as he had attempted to separate you with missions and training. After so long Mace had simply come to trust that you would do the right thing. He did however tire over feigning ignorance. “Please make sure that he's actually resting, as should you.”
Schooling your face and giving a practiced calm expression, you bowed. “May the Force be with you Master.”
Dooku had been troubled throughout the flight to Coruscant. He was nearly bested by the Jedi and their unexpected rescue by the clones, but then again he had managed to escape and accomplish his mission. He had not counted on the new army as a factor in his plans this early, it would have been an easier war to manage if the Council had been obliterated. None the less many key pieces had still fallen nicely into place and it would take the Order time to recover their losses
As he saw the glimmer of the city planet his mind fell back to your words. “Qui Gon died defending the galaxy from the evil that you embraced! Had he lived he would stand against you now!”
He was not an evil man. Dooku did as he saw necessary to bring order, but he was not cruel. Yes it was necessary to cull the opposing forces to make a victory swift, but it was not a choice he made lightly. The Jedi's compassion is what limited their vision, far too entrenched in their ways to effect real change. Sometimes one must break the chins that bound one to the old and outdated system, the one which found the Jedi central too. Landing in the abandoned works the Count stood and prepared to disembark.
Sidious watched as his latest apprentice disembarked the ramp of his craft. While not entirely pleased with the fallen Jedi's efforts, he proved a useful tool. With practiced ease Sidious gestured warmly to the elder man, “Welcome home Lord Tyranus.”
“The Force is with us Master,” The Count bowed in greeting joining Sidious as they walked into the complex. “I bear good news, the war has begun.”
“Well done, your skills are no match for the Jedi.” Palpatine chuckled in this throat, “And what of the young upstarts, have they been adequately dealt with?”
“They survived the encounter,” Dooku grimaced as your words rang in his head again, “Next time I shall...”
Palpatine waived off the Count's words, “Spare me. Soon enough they will be eliminated and together we shall control the galaxy. For the people, for the future.”
And what future shall that be, forged in the crucible of war, the Count wondered? Dooku knew well to keep his doubts shielded though, the Sith was a cunning being and not to be trusted. But it was better to reign in Hell than to serve in heaven. “For a brighter tomorrow shall our labors travail.”
Anakin woke in a darkened room, warm and quiet. It took more than a few moments for the fog to clear his brain. Raising his right arm he felt the cold shock of metal and not his fingers. Fingers that flexed and moved but...
“Ani? Are you awake?”
Turning towards the soft voice Anakin couldn't speak for a moment, simply staring. There were no words yet to express both his joy and sorrow. Joy at seeing Padme waiting beside him, her sweet face curved by a genuine smile because he lived. And yet how uncomfortable she must be cramped in this small sparse space. Anakin never wanted to see her deprived of comfort, not for him.
“Are you in pain? I can get the nurse,” Padme watched as Anakin shook his head, still very distracted by the new metal limb. She took his left hand in her own, “It's just temporary till you get a better fitting, they said you were very lucky. Y/n and Obi Wan came to check on you, they were both so worried.”
“Not worried enough to stay.”
“That's not fair Anakin.” Padme gave him a hurt look, “They were both worried sick. The doctor even said Y/n was badgering him from the aid station every hour for an update. Obi Wan stayed here until Master Yoda made him go rest.”
Anakin flushed in embarrassment at rightly being chastised. “I should know my Masters better by now, it was stupid of me to doubt them.”
“You've been through so much,” taking a cool cloth, Padme dabbed it across his brow. Putting the cloth aside she laced her fingers with his again. “How do you feel.”
“Like I had my arm cut off.” Anakin snarked. Then he saw how her face fell and felt all the dumber for it. He felt foolish for a great many things. Shaking his head on a silent curse, Anakin's temper flared, “I couldn't stop Dooku...”
“No one could, it's not your fault.”
“I'm sorry Padme, I should have protected you better.” The image of her laying limp in the sand flashing through his mind again. Regret lacing his voice, Anakin reached up to cup Padme's bruised cheek. Even past his faults as a Jedi, would she want him now that he was this defeated broken thing. A fool of a man who couldn't even protect his woman properly. Would she still love him with all his faults? “I would have liked to have held you with both hands...”
Padme's voice cracked as she took the cool metal prosthetic and pressed it to her other cheek, “You still can.”
“You don't have to stay,” He whispered, not meeting her eyes. People made rash statements all the time under stress, he knew that. Anakin was trying to give Padme a gracious way out of this, trying to do the right thing even if it killed him. Because in the end he loved her and what could he offer her beyond that? “I'm sure that you probably have more important things...”
“How dare you say that,” Padme's face scrunched, hurt to her bones that he had even said it. Her Ani ought to know her better, “I'm not leaving you Anakin and there is nothing more important to me right now than you. So never say that to me again.”
“Forgive me?” A small smile curled one side of his mouth. His heart surged and Anakin began to gently pull Padme into the bed. He needed to feel her safe in his arms, needed to show her the affection that she so deserved. His brave angel deserved every star in the galaxy.
“The bed's too small.” Padme grumbled but acquiesced, exhaustion causing her to ignore better judgment. Laying in Anakins arms, being held so gently, she felt safer than she had in weeks. She wanted to stay a little upset with him, but it was so very hard when she could feel his care in every touch. Still her voice carried a hint of exasperation, “Honestly Anakin sometimes I wonder what you think of me.”
“That you're the most beautiful woman in the Galaxy. That you've stolen my heart,” He didn't dare press further just yet, stars but he wanted to as he gazed longingly at her lips. Anakin wanted to hold Padme close for the rest of time, to kiss her till there was no question how much he loved her. He would worship the ground that she walked on no matter where that ground was. As he floated the blankets up to cover them, Anakin caressed Padme's face. Tracing from her eyebrow, the apple of her cheek. “There now, don't want you to be uncomfortable.”
“Me? You're the one who,” Padme paused mid sentence face falling as she began to cry. She had almost gotten the two of them killed rushing in, it had been reckless. The litany of admonishments at her actions rolling through her mind, she was a Senator and should know better! Agony and frustration shook her whole body, but Anakin only held tighter.
“Shh, it's ok. You're safe angel.” Anakin could feel her turmoil, wishing he could make her forget the past few days and their terrors. And yet if not for the past few days he would not be holding her now. No he could not erase it, but he would ease it. Gazing at her he put the full weight of his heart into the words, “I love you Padme, so much.”
“Anakin,” She hiccuped between sobs, words getting caught. She wanted to tell him she loved him too, that she regretted her earlier lie. Gazing into his eyes Padme saw the light of his understanding. He knew without her saying a word. Still her tears would not cease; for him, for his mother, for the dead, for the galaxy. “I'm sorry... I'm so frightened Ani.”
“Don't be afraid.” Restraint finally breaking, Anakin kissed her. First her lips then every single tear from her face, laying one last soft press to Padme's forehead. If his angel needed him to be strong for the both of them, then that is what he would do. Raising his hand instinctively to brush at her cheek he paused a hairs breath away remembering the metal. Instead he lowered it to move up and down her back carefully, still too afraid that he would do harm.
Tucking Padme's head below his chin Anakin began humming a tune, one that he heard often at Maffa's bar. Carefully soothing his new hand on her back as his flesh one cradled her head, a few of the lyrics falling loose. As her breathing settled and she relaxed in his hold Anakin murmured, “I'll always protect you, love you... Will you marry me?”
Padme had been drifting to sleep in the safe harbor of his embrace, lulled into a sense of safety. And maybe she would have overthought the question had she not been so exhausted, but not now. Emotions too raw, everything happening so fast, and she wanted what he offered so easily. He hadn't changed since the day she had met him ten years ago, still a kind and giving heart. “Yes, I'll marry you Anakin.”
“Then sleep angel,” Anakin practically beamed with joy, “You've made me so happy Padme.”
He swore she would not cry again, whatever he had to do she would always smile. He would be better, faster, the best Jedi in the Order. And after he brought peace to the galaxy and the war was over he would leave to be with her. It was a simple plan, but it was a start. He promised himself and her that they'd make it to their tomorrow, because love wasn't something to fear.
At least that's what he'd been told.
Tumblr media
“Another?”
“Keep it coming,” You muttered, passing the cup back to Glitch to pour you another beer. Bumming a puff on Deek's cigar you slowly let the smoke waft out around you. Numbing your mind was not a solution to the problem, but you didn't want to deal with it at present either.
Deek threw an arm around your shoulders, “That shit'll give you cancer kid.”
“and yet you survive old man.”
He gave your head a hard noogie. “Smartass!”
You had gone to check in on Anakin and found Padme watching over him. Truth be told the affectionate look on the young woman's face was more than enough to put you at ease. There was a happiness when the two were together, one that you prayed never left. And so you had slogged down to the C deck in search of your own happiness.
Obi Wan had been fast asleep, looking the rougher for wear. You had indulged, just a moment, sitting on the bed and stroking his hair. The soft auburn strands feathering against your skin was soothing and a smile had risen as your Obi had turned gently into the touch. Stars knew he had earned a rest and that you should get some yourself. Instead you had pressed a soft kiss to his head and tucked an extra blanket around him before heading to the mess hall, avoiding the nightmares that you knew were waiting.
Should have figured that the RIC's would sneak a keg on board, wouldn't be the first or last. So you sat at the table playing Sabac and decompressed as best you could. There were other Jedi in the cantina and you had managed to wave a few over to join the group, stars knew they needed a reprieve as much as the others here. They would drift by for a time, visit, and then leave to meditate. Master Undulii had also drifted by, mostly to express her thanks to you and Glitch. She did not wish to stay initially, but Glitch had handed the Jedi a Kaf and patted the seat between the two of you. The Mirilan had taken the unconventional beings in stride.
“These are all students of yours?”
Giving a nod you sipped at your beer, it was piss water cheap but the best you'd ever had. “Yes, most of this bunch went through the academy class with Anakin.”
“I see and these classes are open to anyone?” Luminara hadn't encouraged her apprentice to further her medical training past what was necessary in the Halls of Healing. Now she considered just how under prepared that had left the girl, how helpless she may have felt. Barris would not soon recover from this experience that was certain and perhaps time away in an academic setting would do her well.
You could see the wheels turning, needing just a little nudge, “I'd be happy to have you sit in on a class sometime.”
“Boss, why do I have a feeling that this lovely lady could probably teach the class?” Glitch snarked while simultaneously keeping an eye on the pack of troopers at the end of the room. She recognized 2224, no it was Cody he said, and couldn't help grinning when he'd blush after realizing that he got caught looking her way. But she also knew that involvement would be a bad idea so she was relegated to teasing him. Hearing your grumblings Glitch poked at you again, earning a smile from the other Jedi, “Probably run circles around you in the aid station too.”
“Ha ha Yalvaberg, though you're not wrong.” Slapping down your cards you folded your hand, glancing in your peripherals at Master Undulii. “Open offer for anyone at the Temple, Barris included.”
“Speaking of little bitty, where'd she get too?” Glitch took two more cards, watching the group of troopers head out of the hall. Just as well she thought.
Luminara was perplexed, “Little bitty?”
“Barris,” Glitch clarified, “Good things in small packages.”
Luminara quirked a brow until you explained that it was high praise indeed to have earned a nickname. Setting down her mug she smiled at the young people here. There was a closeness to this group, a bond made of grit and pain that gave them a strength. It touched her that Barris was now counted among them, “She is resting, I think I will go check on her though. You have my thanks again and I look forward to seeing you in the classroom.”
You watched as the more senior Master rose, graceful as ever, and floated from the room like a cloud on the wind. Finishing your own beverage you bid the others goodnight and left too, not before an extended hug from Deek though. There was much said in that hug, things that didn't need words but were bone deep and true. That you were both glad to be alive, that you were both relieved that the mission was done. That you both prayed it was the last close call.
Even as hard as you tried to quiet your mind, the racing thoughts wouldn't cease. The guilt and pain, all like a great mountain on you. Wandering the halls of the ship you found your way to the recovery wing. Most of the troopers you had worked on made it through secondary surgery, including A'den who gave you a waive leading you to stop and speak with him for a bit. It was a reward that little squeeze of his big hand, the smile he gave. None of that was why you did it, but kark it felt nice. There was an officer who was also checking on the men, his commanding presence standing out from the others. There was no conversation between you, simply a nod of greeting and both going about your way.
Further down the line were the injured Jedi. And while they were indeed alive, many were far from well. Several apprentices trembled in their beds or looked on blankly. The few Masters whom were present to shepard them weren't in much better shape. The Masters whose eyes reflected the gutting of loss everyone here felt. They would all require a great deal of psychological help after an event like this, needed experts in that field and not simply the healers at the Temple. It would be a discussion with the Council, but for another day. Turning to leave you came face to chest with an old acquaintance. “I'm so sorry, I didn't see...”
“L/n,” The voice growled low.
Your stomach dropped. There was Master Adeva, Togorian glare ever fixed. This was neither the time nor the place for a disagreement, “I was just leaving, good evening Master Adeva.”
Carefully trying move around him, you were far too tired to reign in your emotions, only making it a few steps when he began to growl.
“Is it all worth it?” Adeva grumbled the thought out loud. The older being saw how your posture slumped at his words, not thinking how you had interpreted the statement.
Deuce was speaking with a couple of recently promoted sergeants when he heard the trouble. His face turned stony watching the two Jedi. Who the hells did this beast think he was, speaking to the little medic like that? Your response to the feline though, it ripped him like a blaster bolt.
“No,” tears streamed as the hopeless answer left your lips. Glancing over your shoulder to him you whispered. “I should have died and saved you the effort.”
One of the injured troopers came alongside Deuce looking just as pissed, but the Alpha waited to see what the Togorian would do. Both Clones were unarmed, but stood ready to protect. This one had fought for his brothers lives, for that alone she had his respect. He whispered to the other clone, “Find the Jedi Kenobi, now!”
“You would say that, after all the trouble to save you?” Adeva turned his head studying the small woman. You did not seem yourself. Not sharp tongued or quick witted, almost like it pained you to even move.
“Yeah, well I didn't deserve it anyway. Said it yourself I'm weak, an embarrassment to my Master, an abomination. That I should have died long ago...” you rambled out. How you ached for rest, your ribs hollow with nothing left to give or fight with. A sardonic little hum escaped you, “Sorry to disappoint you and survive again when so many more deserving beings should have.”
The Togorian was stunned, though he should not be surprised. After all he had spoken the vile, hateful words that you now repeated, had encouraged his Padawan to do the same. His ears flattened as his voice filled with shame, “L/n...”
“I'll make it easy, save you the trouble for next time...” It was a choice everyday, to live or to give it up. Most days you could be strong, others you needed to bolster your strength just to slog through. Not today though, today you just wanted the bliss of silent oblivion. If your brain were in a more sound state it would recognize that this was not right, but all you could feel was pain and death and failure. Holding up your saber you pressed it into his paw like hand with the end at your chest. Voice quivering you bore your gaze into his, “Go ahead.”
“What?” Tightening his grip on the hilt he saw you eyes close relief. It was such an antitheses to whom he had now come to understand you to be. It was wrong, this whole situation was wrong and Adeva found himself regretting having contributed to your longing for death. Slowly, carefully he placed your saber on the medical cart nearest. Your eyes were angry with him even as tears began to fall. “No, I will not do that.”
“It's like a damned cosmic joke...” Laughing in pain as your head fell in resignation. “I am a wraith that even death has turned it's back on.”
“Master L/n... you misunderstand me.” Dipping his head, Adeva tried to meet your eyes. He no longer wished to fight with you. No, that was the past and it was time to act as a Jedi should. “We caused you such pain for so long. We were wrong. I was wrong... about everything.”
You shook your head in confusion.
“You saved my Padawan, Hashi wouldn't have made it out of the arena had you not intervened.”
“I -” your words were cut short by a growl.
“You and Kenobi were captured, tortured, and still confronted Dooku.” Adeva saw you clench and fiddle with your hands. “And all I can reason is that you must think this mission, this galaxy, worthy to suffer so.”
“Someone has to protect it.” Your voice was small, barely a scratching of words. “I did my duty.”
“No, you did more.” It was in that moment that Adeva knew just how much pain his words had caused over the years, how much you had endured. How wrong and twisted he had been and for what? Pride and tradition meant little if one could not act honorably towards their fellow beings. Your eyes were dark as they gazed back at him, “I was so very wrong about you and though I can never deserve it... please forgive me.”
It was an odd feeling, whiplashed from one extreme to the other. A being who had tormented you so long, whom you in many ways considered an adversary, asking pardon for the wrong he had done. You wanted to stay angry, to yell and scream, to let every boiling emotion set loose; but to what end really? You might be short tempered, perhaps brash and overly passionate, but you were not cruel. To release such fury upon even this being... no you would never cause pain willingly.
There were also all the hopeless gazes looking to you from the beds, wondering if this was all there was to their future? How could the Jedi continue if they only fought among themselves, unable to forgive their brothers and sisters. Wondering eyes asking if this was how their order would fall from the light into the abyss of shadow. No, even if darkness filled the stars above, you refused to be the one to snuff out their hope for a better tomorrow. This would not be the day that you crumbled, this would not be the day you let the light perish from this place. As hard as it was, you chose in that moment to live and fight one day more.
“I forgive you.”
“This way Sir.”
“Oh wee one...” Obi Wan had been pulled from his bed by one of the troopers. All he had been told was that you were in trouble and it was all he needed to hear. The fact that he could only mildly feel your presence in the Force raised alarm bells.
“There Sir, look.”
Glancing ahead you rounded the corner with an escort of your own. Alpha 22 was flanking your side, a concerned look on his face. Obi Wan watched as you simply seemed to exist, as though a spirit trapped in the land of the living. There was no sign of your usual spark of liveliness and it sent a shiver down his back. The imposing trooper at your side simply guided you forward, firmly but with care. As the two men glanced at each other there was a silent understanding.
“Keep a close eye on this one, she's... in need of rest.” Deuce glanced down at the woman, deeply troubled by what he'd seen. He'd seen some of his Vod'e over the years who had cracked before graduation or from the treatment of their trainers. He well recognized that look in your eyes. Tilting his head Deuce softened his tone again, “You take care now Baar'ur'ika, want to see you at formation when we land.”
“I'll take her from here,” Obi Wan whispered as his arm came around your shoulders. It was a long walk back, every step of the journey made like you were shuffling through duracrete. He felt the raging torrent rippling from your signature even as your face remained placidly flat. Studying you carefully he knew there was something truly wrong. You hadn't changed, robes in need of incineration rather than cleaning. Worse yet you were silent, not uttering a word to him only holding his hand tightly like a lifeline. As he closed and locked the door Obi Wan gently cupped your face, “Wee one?”
Blinking at him you gazed wide eyed, but unseeing. Your mind was stuck on what had happened in the med bay, the terrible things you said. How could you have let that blackness out, how could you expose the others to your dark mind? When Obi Wan tried to grasp your arms you backed away shrinking into yourself, not wanting to hurt him too. You'd only contaminate him, you had to keep him safe. The thoughts raged again, the horrible images that Dooku had put in your mind rising like the tide. Was it torture or a vision, would they all die just like you had seen?
“Love?” Obi Wan watched as you started to shake and cry, hands flying to clutch your head. He fought to grab you then, bringing you with him to the floor as you screamed into his chest. Blood curdling agony escaping with every breath, eyes wild in fear. You fought his hold not seeing him, but instead some spectral horror. It took pushing his own calm upon your signature to placate the worst of it; he kept soothing your hair as he whispered through his own growing dread. “It's alright now, we're safe... we're all safe. Please Y/n come back, don't leave me now... please come back to me.”
You could feel the distant glimmer of his signature, that small flicker of light in the swirling dark, “Obi?”
“I'm here love. Tell me how to help, what did the devil do to you?” Kissing your forehead his face scrunched in concentration. You whole body shook frantically as your face blanched, but he was determined and pressed through the connection, “Y/n let me in.”
“No! You can't... not safe...” You were so frightened of hurting him, fighting with what little you had in you to push back.
“I'm not letting you suffer, not another minute. Now let me in.” Obi Wan lurched bodily as the first images came through, crying out in pain. Pushing further through the dark web, he grasped onto your signature more fully. You had both survived the arena and he wouldn't loose you now. It was as if Dooku had set a hurricane loose in your mind of all the dark fears you hid away even from him. Trying with all his might Obi Wan began to untangle the dark web in which you were caught, forcing more peaceful thoughts over the storm.
Things he knew calmed you, things that brought you joy. Images of forests and small animals you'd seen on missions, of nights at the diner, the memory of that first kiss under the stars. He felt as your body began to slacken in his hold, going limp as your cries softened to sniffles. Whispering against your head as he continued to soothe, “Stay with me in the light, don't leave. I'll do anything, but please stay darling.”
“I'm trying, it's so hard,” Your voice a whimper, “I'm so tired Obi.”
“Then let me take care of you, as you've done for me.” Obi Wan lifted your face from where it was buried in his chest, eyes bloodshot. They were still the most beautiful eyes he knew. “That's it darling, just hold tightly and all will be well.”
“P-promise?”
“I promise, just hold on.” Carefully Obi Wan carried you to the fresher. Hands steady and gentle as he cleaned the dirt away, holding you as your tears rinsed down the drain with the suds. He was loving in every way as he dried and helped you into fresh robes, laying with you on the bed. It hurt him to see you in such pain, what he would give to take it from you. “Any better sweetling?”
Curling into his body the errand tears still rolled down your cheek. “I'm sorry Obi...”
“Shh none of that wee woman, nothing to be sorry for at all.” You huffed and burrowed into his chest further on a little cry. Obi Wan sighed, slowly soothing a hand at your back. You always managed to find your way before, yet you lay so broken here in his arms. Perhaps all that was required was to remind you of whom you were, “You're so strong Y/n, knew from the first minute I saw you.”
Looking up through wet lashes you hummed curiously.
“It's true, really. You looked ready to fight anyone that would say a word about your Master at her service and then...” He hummed wistfully, “You glanced over and smiled at me.”
“I did?” You mumbled, trying to remember if what your Obi Boy said was true, honestly couldn't recall much of that day really. You hadn't even known Obi Wan then, but you do recall him and Qui Gon being present.
“Indeed you did. Only the strongest beings remain so kind even in the midst of such pain.” He'd only just returned to the order himself, feeling out of place and alone. Obi Wan had dutifully gone to the services, accompanying Master Qui Gon as he bid a friend farewell. Still he felt out of place, under scrutiny even in the midst of mourning. Obi Wan had glanced back at you, watching as he felt the ripples of your palpable sorrow and wondered how you stood so gracefully. Then you had glanced over during the funeral as though sensing his eyes lingering and smiled at him. You had seen him, another lost soul and smiled. He fell for you then and you had ever been a part of him. “Still the strongest person I know.”
“I'm not,” Your arms squeezed him tighter, voice choking on the words. “I wish that were true but... Obi I'm so tired of it. All the missions, all the rules, all the fighting and pain. I don't want to do it anymore...” Soft little sobs escaped despite your best efforts.
He knew, had for so very long. The Temple had always been a gilded cage and honestly even he had come to hate it at times. What would it be like to simply walk with you, unafraid of being seen or judged. What would it be like to have a home away from all of this, only you two? As much as it would pain him, Obi Wan was prepared to make that sacrifice, if that was what you needed of him. Then he felt your soft touch on his jaw and glanced down into your watery eyes.
“...But I'll stay for you... and Anakin. You're my family, I go where you go.” Kissing softly at the top of his chest you started to drift into the depths of your exhaustion. “I love you.”
“And I you, so very much.” His voice broke like waves upon the shore, “I promise you Y/n...”
Shaking your head on a hum you brought his face to meet with yours, lips gently embracing. Salty tears marred the tender joining, maybe that was the best the day could offer. Perhaps that was all there would be is stolen moments and little victories, but it was more than most. You weren't ambitious enough to think past now, living in this moment and nowhere else. No promises of anything but the next sweet kiss from your man. That was the only thing you trusted right now.
Obi Wan could feel just how tenuous your hold was, the way your signature flickered. Like embers in a banked fire, as easily rekindled as it was to be dashed out. So he pressed just a little more, deepening the kiss and tracing your features softly. Fingertips ghosting the line of your jaw till he could comb his fingers into your soft hair. There was more grays streaking through, not from age but from all that life had brought. Laugh lines and freckles that came with time, and not a one would he trade. The two of you had raised Anakin, survived so many missions and mishaps, earning every worry line and sign of age together. On a soft grin Obi Wan began to whisper, a secret just between you. “What would you do Y/n... if we did leave?”
“What?”
“If we left the Order, what would you want to do?” He stroked his thumb at your temple, humming his own contemplation. “I think I'd be a teacher.”
Watching the corners of his eyes crinkle made you believe, even for a minute, it might be possible. That after all of this you might be able to have what you wanted. It was a dangerous feeling, this hope, and not something that would happen until this matter with Dooku was settled. Your Master still needed your help, you couldn't abandon him or the rest of the Jedi now. But here, with your Obi Wan it was safe enough to dream. “I think... just a little clinic. Little younglings with colds and sore throats, school check ups...”
Obi Wan pursed his lips in thought, “We could have a massif.”
“You're more of a tooka person,” you mumbled.
Closing his eyes, Obi Wan murmured, “We could have more than pets... if you'd want.”
“Seems you've thought about this,”voice thick at the thought of what he described. You had secretly wondered the same from time to time, “A little boy maybe...”
“A little family somewhere quiet. Nowhere to go or missions to complete,” he chuckled, “We'd be bored to tears.”
“Boredom sounds good.” a bitter grin etched across your face, “But I have a feeling we won't be bored for quite some time my love.”
“No, I suspect you're right about that. I'm sorry we couldn't stop it Y/n...”
Pulling Obi Wan into another kiss you shook your head, “Not tonight... leave it till morning please?”
Obi Wan soothed you through the night terrors and held you tightly when his own came on. Yesterday the war began, but here in their bunk there was peace.
Even if only for tonight.

Yay! I’m so glad you take requests for Nautolans. They don’t get enough recognition. I was thinking the reader was either a former Jedi General that worked with The Bad Batch or is with Rex when he shows up in Cid's bar and was originally just supposed to drop them off on a planet to hide but decides to stay with the boys maybe if they fall in love with one or it’s just platonic. Eventually they'll get a pretty small tank installed on the ship for them so they don’t get dehydrated while on long trips. I don’t know if you do all them but if not could you do Hunter and Tech please?
Omg ofc babe!
Team surprise
Pairing: Rex x reader
Description: After joining the bad batch and falling in love with rex they all surprise you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had met Rex through your friend Ashoka considering that you were padawans together and your masters knew each other. Her being Anakin Skywalker's padawan while you were the 2nd padawan under Luminara Unduli along with Barriss Offee until you were transferred and became Obi wan's padawan after not only a lot of trauma you went through but also not being able to train with the two anymore due to it and the issues between the two. Not too long after the change and becoming used to being around the other masters and padawans much more you met Captain Rex and a lot of other clones soon developing a bond with rex and soon the two of you got together getting separated after order 66 ending up meeting the bad batch in Kaller after being there for 3 weeks. You ended up joining the batch not only as their medic but also as a new friend ending up as the main care taker of Omega other than Hunter and being the one who keeps everyone together without you they all wouldn't be on the ship nor would Omega be with them. You reunited with rex after going in Cid's bar after rehydrating yourself seeing a familiar blonde head immediately tearing up and hugging an equally happy and surprised rex telling everyone what happened who are surprised not only did their friends know each other before but that they were a couple. Soon after spending time away from the batch with rex you come back being told of a surprise they all did for you walking on the ship with rex guiding you while you had your eyes covered until you opened them seeing a tank in the ship full of clear blue green water and some flowers planted at the bottom and some notes from omega taped to them as you smile hugging them. You giggle climbing and jumping in swimming in it popping back up "I love it! Guys...you didn't have to!" They all smile saying they know how exhausting it was for you to look for somewhere to rehydrate and wanted to do something to help you which made your heart swell and grow when they said it was rex's idea getting out and giving him a sweet kissing and hugging everyone thanking them.

pairing: obi-wan kenobi x jedi!reader
summary: Throwing all caution out the window, Obi-Wan dives headfirst into a long awaited confession. At least, he tries to. The universe seems to leave an obstacle for him at every turn, but Obi-Wan is nothing if not persistent.
a/n: Oh my goodness, this has got to be my proudest piece. It was one of the victims of the incident and I had to rewrite the whole thing from scratch, but I actually think the final version came out better than the original! The title is inspired from the summary of my previous fic Indulgence, but this one is actually the cornerstone of all of my jedi!reader x Obi-Wan fics: every one of those has stemmed from this storyline idea that has been living in my head for so long. Suffice it to say this is THE fic that I have wanted to write from the beginning — my pièce de résistance, if you will.
I hope you enjoy :-) p.s. here's my taglist form
Tumblr media
In all the years he’s known you, Obi-Wan swears he only ever started to lie to you during the Clone Wars.
In his defense, he’d been lying to himself, too. Forcibly crushing down his much-deeper-than-platonic favor for you in the hopes that it’d disappear, forgotten in his darkest recesses, was exhausting in more ways than one. One’s mind can only be dishonest with the heart for so long.
But after more than a year and a half into the fighting, he’d felt too many times the choking fear that he’d never see you again — be it because of his death or yours.
So he’d given up in repressing his emotions, and let himself feel. In the precious minutes of reprieve amidst the horrors of combat, sometimes the only thing that could console his jaded and war-torn soul was the memory of you.
He wonders how he managed to continue for as long as he did before allowing himself to consciously love — it was well into the conflict when he came to terms with it. If he closes his eyes, he can easily remember the exact moment.
Geonosis. His return to the forsaken planet.
The chaos of it all had been staggering. He’d barely been able to hear Cody’s warning before he was shot out of the sky, and the crash that claimed the lives of nearly everyone in the transport had been just the beginning of the hellscape he’d endured.
There was an instant where he’d been sure he was going to die on the field, seconds before the remainder of his battalion was about to be overrun.
He remembers the gunfire surrounding him, piercing the falling bodies of his men as he laid helpless and injured. Cody’s shouting amidst the mayhem. The stabbing pain of his ribs that had blackened the edges of his vision. The dirt that had caked his face and armor. The sheer amount of it had been maddening.
And yet, as the bugs had closed in around him and he’d forced himself to his feet to meet his imminent end, the only thing that had run through his mind was...you.
Your name, your face. The dissatisfaction at the fact that the last time he’d seen it, it’d been distorted, static and blue from the holo you’d shared with Master Unduli. The way you’d hidden a smile as she interrupted his competitive jeering with Anakin ahead of the battle.
At least he’d made you laugh, he’d thought, and with that, he’d ignited his lightsaber.
And then the reinforcements had come. And he’d been left to sink back down on shaking knees with the image of you burning in his brain until the concerned presence of Ahsoka materialized at his side.
He hadn’t had any time to process the stunning realization that he was in love with you. He’d scarcely had a second to gather himself before he was already spouting a revised attack plan to take the droid factory, reverting to autopilot the way he always did when he assumed his identity as a war general.
But the universe had seemed intent on not letting him escape it, regardless. Just days later, he’d saved your life — you’d arrived at Point Rain with Luminara only to be taken by the Geonosian queen to be turned into a mindless, shivering zombie.
“I still haven’t forgiven you for that, you know.” You’d chirped, while tapping his nose teasingly.
“What? The stunt with the worms? You know I wouldn’t have actually let it go up your nose.”
“No, for disobeying an order to fall back and leave us behind.”
His heart had clenched at your words. Never in a million years would he abandon you if he thought there was the smallest chance of saving you. He knew that, finally.
But the fear of losing the only life he’d ever known outweighed the fear of losing you, and he’d settled with yearning for you from afar. It would be enough, he’d convinced himself. He refused to burden you with the knowledge that he’d been pining helplessly for you for Force knows how long, and ruin the careers in the Order you’d both worked so hard to construct.
That was, until now.
Until he’d seen Satine Kryze again, after decades apart, and she’d declared her surviving affection for him from all those years ago, Anakin witnessing the whole thing. After he’d seen the weight of her unspoken truth upon her shoulders. And although he regretted that he couldn’t grant her the relief from her wanting, he’d resolved that he didn’t want to spend the rest of his days the same way — slowly being crushed by his own supression. Even if his feelings were unrequited.
So he’d decided that he’d tell you, Jedi Code be damned. He wouldn’t hold it in any longer.
As the Coronet docked on the landing pad where the Chancellor was waiting, he’d been jittery with anticipation. That, and disoriented from the events that had transpired on the way there. He’d blubbered uncharacteristically when Satine had caressed his face in farewell, Anakin watching delightedly at his back. Then, as he’d turned to find a speeder to make his way to you in the Temple, the universe had yet again toyed with him — you were there, appearing on the platform out of nowhere like a summoned spirit, but not making your way towards him.
No, you were walking straight towards Satine.
You didn’t seem to notice him or Anakin behind you, welcoming the Duchess with practiced cordiality and leading her to the airbus where the other Senators were boarding, glaringly obvious that you’d been assigned on escort duty. Obi-Wan held back a groan. Of all the Jedi.
Anakin had practically collapsed in hilarity, a hand heavy on Obi-Wan’s shoulder. “The Force works in mysterious ways, Master,” he crowed. “I finally get that one.”
———
You’re perched high up on a viewing balcony of the Senate Chamber when he finds you, a little before Satine is set to address the Republic.
“You’re certainly off your game today,” you exhale an amused laugh as he skids to a stop, attempting to compose his appearance as he approaches you. “Anakin told me all about what happened on the Coronet en route to Coruscant.”
His blasted Padawan. Obi-Wan could strangle him.
“I didn’t teach him to gossip,” he grumbles, coming to stand beside you. He'd run the whole way here to catch you, but his rapid heartbeat isn’t from physical exertion. You’re as tranquil as ever, though, and your presence relaxes him despite.
You give a snort. “Maybe not intentionally. He definitely learned how to operate outside the lines of the Code by watching you.” He knows you’re poking fun at him, but his breath catches at the mention of the doctrine that dictates you both.
But he’s set on telling you. Today.
“Actually, I was hoping to talk to you about something similar.”
You turn to the Chancellor’s podium as his voice reverberates through the hall, but Obi-Wan’s hearing is fixed on you. “Of course, Obi, but it’ll have to wait until later. I think your friend is about to speak.”
He opens his mouth to reply, to bring your attention back to him, but you’re focused on the proceedings. He doesn’t like the jovial way you say friend, as if you’re almost happy about it, but he forces his gaze to follow yours as Satine begins her address.
Which, of course, goes terribly wrong. Because nothing seems to want to work out today.
Even your usually optimistic features are set with a grim expression as a testimonial from Satine’s own Deputy Minister slights her leadership, and the Senate turns against her. As her repulsorpod retreats from the center of the chamber, you cast concerned eyes towards him.
“Go,” you urge him, and he’s frozen between staying or leaving. “She needs you. I’ll buy you some time with the security detail.”
Obi-Wan doesn’t want to depart from your side, words hanging on the tip of his tongue, but he knows you’re right. He nods at you gratefully before chasing after Satine.
———
He tries again in the evening, while you’re between shifts of guarding the Duchess’ guest quarters.
“She seems...interesting,” you nod to the Mandalorian guard that passes by to take your post, speaking low enough that your conversation is relatively private. “She certainly had much to say about you.”
Obi-Wan wanted to scream. It seems everyone had been able to get you alone except for him. “I told you about that year on Mandalore after I came back,” he protests, and you shoot him a pitiful wink.
“Not the way she described it.”
Before he can demand just what Satine had let on, the sound of rapid footfalls draws both of your attention to the guard you’d greeted earlier. “Master Jedi! The Duchess is gone. We don’t know for how long.”
You curse lightly and rush down the hall to follow the Mandalorian, and Obi-Wan is about to do the same when his comm buzzes on his wrist.
He sighs in frustration. He knows exactly who it is.
———
After he’d relayed the untampered evidence to Padmé in time for the Senate convocation and Satine had been released from custody, Obi-Wan makes his way to your quarters in a determined stride. The past couple days were nothing short of a wild Bantha ride from start to finish, and he was tired of tiptoeing around you.
As he raises a shaking hand to knock outside your room, he stalls in a moment of fleeting hesitation. The impending metamorphose of your relationship nags at his brain, and he pauses. What he’s about to do will indelibly transform the dynamic between you, for better or for worse. It dawns on him that there won’t be any going back from this.
He hears your voice from a distant memory of late nights in the Temple gardens, basking in the light of the stars. Of course everything will change. Nothing can stop that.
So be it.
He stands as tall as he can manage, and knocks resolutely.
You open the door looking ready for bed, clad in a billowing camisole, face dewy from the refresher and hair still damp. He smiles at you as you open it wider. “Hello, Obi.”
He shuffles inside, meekly nodding in apology of his interruption. “I thought I’d come see you.”
Like routine, you’re already heating up a pot of water for him as you search for his favorite tea in your cupboard. Ever so thoughtful. His heart flutters beneath his robes. “I’m glad to see you found the Duchess,” you chime lightheartedly, “I had a hunch when you disappeared earlier.”
His hand finds the back of his neck. “I hope I didn’t make you look too bad, being on protection and all.”
You shake your head dismissively. “I was just glad to hear she was safe. You helped save her people from Republic occupation.”
Altruistic honesty radiates off of you, and his chest drops, in a good way. You care, and it’s written all over your actions.
You’re the best person he knows. Without question.
For a split second, Obi-Wan wonders if he even deserves you. But he pushes the thought in the back of his mind for later, hell-bent on not letting anything get in the way of what he wants to say.
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
You face him fully, abandoning the tea as you take in the seriousness of his posture. He sucks in a stunted breath.
“It’s about —
“I know.”
He startles, momentum lost as you interrupt him suddenly. Your gaze is penetrating. “What?” He asks dumbly.
“It’s about Satine, isn’t it?” Your bare arm comes up across your body to hold the other, and Obi-Wan finds himself staring at the way your too-long pants brush the floor as you sway to one side. Your sleeping shirt brushes the middle of your thighs, and he realizes how utterly small you seem in the moment. “You feel the same way about her that you used to.”
His eyes snap up to yours at your words, mind reeling. It takes him an eternity to force out a single word.
“...No.”
You tilt your head confusedly, and Obi-Wan wants to pinch himself to test if this is some sort of stress-induced hallucination. “No? You do know she’s positively infatuated with you, don’t you?”
“No, I —” he shuts his eyes desperately. “I mean, yes, I know, but I don’t —” he breaks off abruptly, opening his eyes at you with newfound willpower. Blast it.
Obi-Wan crosses the room in three steps, reaching his hands out to cradle you delicately as he pulls you in for a bruising kiss.
He hears your breath stutter, shock just about vibrating off of you, but in the next second your eyelashes graze his cheeks as you close your eyes and lean into him. His heart pounds in crazed gratification, and Obi-Wan feels downright dizzy from the sensation. He’s going to faint, he’s going to die right here in your arms —
Your hands find the top of his chestplate, fingers curling against it, but after a beat of his body singing with joy, he feels you apply the smallest pressure on his armor. You detach your lips from his slowly, and he blinks dazedly at you when you pull away. Disbelief paints your frame.
“Obi, what —”
“I love you,” he says quickly, hands still on either side of your face. “I’m in love with you. I’ve been in love with you. For so long.” One of your hands reaches up to clasp his own against your cheek. “I know that this goes against everything we’ve ever been taught, and you must be confused. I’m sorry.” He breaks off for a second, eyebrows creasing, because he’s not sorry. He could never be sorry for what he’s just done, not with the feeling of your lips still rippling in tingles through his brain. “But I had to tell you. I just...couldn’t go on without you knowing.”
Your mouth opens and closes as you flounder in his confession, and he studies you with more intensity than he’s felt in ages. He’s suddenly hyper-aware of everything about you, offhandedly concentrating to memorize every tiny detail. He’ll relive that kiss a thousand times over for the rest of his life if it’s the last one he’ll get.
“I — I don’t know what to say,” you manage to let out, and he presses his forehead to yours before releasing you. Say you love me, his heart cries. But Obi-Wan pushes the sentiment away.
“It’s alright,” he promises gently. You stare at him as he squeezes the hand that’s still holding his. “You don’t have to say anything.”
“Obi-Wan, I —”
Whatever you’re about to say is cut off by a loud knock from outside, and the way you jerk back from him pricks at his emotions. You quickly pad to the door, opening it a crack as he attempts to conceal himself from your unexpected visitor.
“Sorry to bother you so late, Master,” Anakin’s voice fills the air, and Obi-Wan shrinks further into the shadows. “I’m just checking in before I leave for Vanquor. I wanted to make sure you’re still available to train Ahsoka while I’m gone?”
It takes you a little to formulate a response, your eyes still wide. “Yes — of course, Anakin, always.” You attempt to shut the door, but Anakin speaks up before you can.
“Actually, I was hoping to ask you for some advice as well, if you don’t mind.”
You can’t look at Obi-Wan without giving him away, so he sends a subtle wave of reassurance your way, hoping you pick up on it.
The tension releases from your shoulders, and you nod at his old student. “I’d be happy to. Give me a bit to get ready,” you gesture behind you, “and I’ll walk you to your quarters.”
Anakin must nod in return, because you close the door without another word. You reach up to grab your outer robes from where they’re hung on the wall, and turn to him with a tormented expression.
Go, it’s his turn to coax you as he mouths the word silently. It’s alright.
Your eyes are shining with emotion that he can’t quite read in the dim light, but eventually you slip on your cloak and shoes and open the door once more. With one last lingering glimpse at him in the corner, you disappear into the hall where Anakin is waiting.
As he feels your presence dwindling away, he sends a final thought into the vacant room, more to himself and the aching emptiness of the Force than to you.
I love you.

A Returning Echo ~ Before the Citadel
Main Master List
Story Master List
Chapter Nineteen
Chapter Twenty One
Chapter Twenty
To say the men of the 17th were angry was an understatement. When the council sidelined you, they had also sidelined your men. Men that loved to fight. Men that loved you. Men that would do anything for you, and that were beyond angry when they found out they wouldn’t see you for a while. But they weren’t angry at you for leaving, no, they could never be angry at you. They were furious beyond words with the council, and they made sure it was obvious.
In the time that you were away, they made life hell for the council. Between disobeying basic orders and causing as many problems as they could, the 17th expressed their frustration. Even Hex joined in. The usually responsible clone was helping plan events to piss off the council and even led some of them.
The council eventually grew tired, and decided that something needed to be done about them.
“Their recent actions are borderline treasonous,” Mace stated.
“They are merely acting out in frustration at what happened to their general,” Codo countered.
“They are causing unnecessary chaos,” Luminara pointed out.
“Again, they’re acting out in frustration. These men are some of the best I’ve seen, they merely want their General back.”
“We didn’t remove their General from her position of leadership and we didn’t make her leave the planet. We merely said she would be removed from the war effort for a few standard weeks. It was her decision to leave. They have no reason to be acting this way,” Mace countered.
“If you are punishing her for her ways, then you must also punish them because they are similar to her. They are a battalion, a team. They’re a family, and they will stick together no matter what. What affects one, affects all. They think alike, plan alike, act alike. Remove one, and there’s a sizable hole left in their absence,” Codo said.
“But we didn’t remove y/n. As I said before, we merely pulled her away for a little while.”
“Even then, they view it differently, and so they are reacting to how they view it.”
“Their actions are inappropriate,” Luminara said, leaning forwards in her seat. “Something must be done about them!”
“What would you suggest?” Mace questioned.
“If it’s the fighting that they want, we send them to battle under a different general. They’ll still be together and will get their fighting, but they’d just have to follow a different general.”
“I’m not sure that would be a good idea,” Codo pointed out.
“Regardless of what you think, it’s worth a shot,” Luminara countered.
“I agree with Master Unduli. Perhaps if we give them the opportunity to get their anger out in battle, they will behave better while they wait for y/n to return,” Mace said.
Codo sat in silence, thinking to himself about how this would not work. He knew these men well, and knew that they would not like this idea. No amount of fighting could fill the missing piece of y/n.
“Alright, it’s settled then. Codo, would you contact the 17th and ask for Commander Sans, Captain Hex, and Major Steele to come here?”
“Yes, Master Windu,” he replied before getting up and exiting the room. He decided to head over to the barracks to tell them in person, he believed they would be more likely to listen. But going to the barracks turned out to be a mistake.
Before Codo had even landed in the hangar, he saw the level at which the 17th had gone to show their anger. Crates were strewn everywhere, paint was covering the walls, and even some ships and speeders were flipped on their sides. He let out a sigh as he got off his speeder, heading in through the doors to the halls.
The mess continued, stretching down the hall as far as could be seen. It got significantly worse the closer Codo got to the 17th’s bunks, and he eventually began to hear yelling and banging.
He entered the closest room as he felt Sans, Hex, and Steele inside. He stood in the doorway as he waited for the clones to notice, but they were hunched over in the middle of the room, talking about some idea they had. He cleared his throat, causing everyone to look at him.
“Sans, Hex, Steele, the council wishes to speak with you,” he said, meeting the commander's eyes.
“Is it about y/n?” He asked, his gaze harsh even though he was speaking to Codo.
“No-“
“Then we’re not going,” Sans replied, turning back to the group.
“Sans, it involves your whole battalion-“
“It’s not our whole battalion if y/n isn’t in it,” he countered without turning.
“Sans,” Codo said gently, walking over and placing a hand on his shoulder. The clone tensed for a second before relaxing again. “Please, I do not want to fight you on this. I am merely the messenger.”
Sans sighed, looking back at the Jedi.
“When do they want to see us?”
“Now.”
“Alright, I guess we’ll go,” he said, standing up, Hex and Steele following. Codo walked with them to the hangar and watched as they sped away. He loved your clones, but not nearly as much as you did. They were a loving and loyal battalion, brothers to each other and you. With another sigh, he turned to walk back inside and talk to them while their leaders were away.
“Commander Sans, Captain Hex, Major Steele,” Mace said as the clones stood in the middle of the council chamber. They all had their helmets tucked under their arms and had stern expressions on their faces. “Do you know why we have called you here?”
“I’m assuming it’s because of the past few weeks?” Hex responded dryly.
“More of a response to them, but yes,” Mace said. “We have decided that it would be best to put you back into action, as to keep you from causing more problems here.”
“General Jinn is coming back?” Steele said, his expression turning to excitement.
“No, she is not. At least not yet, that we know of. You will be sent out under the command of General Krell.”
“General Krell?” Hex said incredulously.
“Yes, General Krell. You will be under his command and you will follow his plans.”
“With all due respect, General Windu,” Sans said mockingly, “we don’t follow any orders unless y/n is here. Especially not from the likes of General Krell.”
“Commander, you will get on that ship and you will lead your men into the battle. Y/n has been taken from the war because she is a threat to herself, the Jedi, and the Republic. Her emotions cloud her and guide her too much. General Krell will be a good example for your battalion to see what a good general should be like.”
“What did you just say?” Steele said, his anger suddenly boiling over. Hex barely had time to grab him and pull him back as he attempted to lunge at Mace.
“Y/n is a perfect general! You just don’t know what you’re talking about!” He yelled as he tried to get away from Hex.
“Vod, calm down! Trust me, I want to hurt him too, but if you do hurt him, you’ll never see her again!” Hex said. Steele stopped struggling against Hex and just stared at Mace, letting out angry breaths before he spun around and stormed from the room.
“Kriff you, karking Jedi!” He yelled as he left. Hex looked after him but decided to stay, wanting to hear what else the Jedi would say.
“Your ship will depart at 1200, I expect you to be there and ready,” Mace said, addressing the two remaining clones.
“We are not getting on that ship unless it is General y/n Jinn leading us,” Sans replied shortly.
“Hex, please, you’re the rational one,” Mace said, turning to look at the Captain.
“It’s General Jinn or no 17th,” he responded. Mace held their gaze before looking at the rest of the council. They could all sense the determination and stubbornness of the two clones, and could only assume the rest would be the same.
“Let us…discuss the situation,” Mace sighed, motioning for the troopers to leave. They slipped their helmets back on and walked out, heads held high in determination.
“Those clones are still being defiant,” Luminara stated.
“It appears they won’t be swayed easily,” Plo commented.
“Something must be done about them. They cannot be allowed to keep acting like this,” Mace said.
“Then let them fight with their general,” Plo responded.
“That would defeat the whole purpose of this! They need to learn that y/n isn’t the only person they follow the orders of.”
“But they know this. They follow the orders of Sans, Hex, and Steele. They are not y/n,” Obi Wan added smartly.
“Do not start acting like your former Padawan, Master Kenobi. These men cannot be rewarded for their unfavorable behavior.”
“Vote on the matter, we shall,” Yoda spoke up. Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Those who say to send them with Krell, raise your hand, you will.” Yoda looked around the room and nodded before continuing. “Those who say reunite Master Jinn with her battalion, raise your hand, you will.” He repeated his previous actions and nodded. “A decision we have reached. Reunite the battalion, we will.”
“I must say I think this is exactly what we should not do,” Mace spoke while shaking his head.
“Decided, we have. Reunite them, we will. Allow y/n back into the war, we shall.”
Mace merely sat back in his seat and watched as Plo went to get the clones again.
~~~
“I can’t kriffing believe General Windu!” Steele yelled when his brothers joined him outside the chambers. “I mean, who does he think he is?”
“I don’t know, vod, but you can’t just lunge at a Jedi like that! You could get in serious trouble,” Hex said, grabbing his arm to stop him from pacing. Steele merely ripped out of his grasp and continued his movements.
“What’s he going to do? Decommission me for treason?”
“Yes,” Hex replied sternly, and Steele turned to look at his brother. He had a pained expression on his face, and Steele felt bad. “Yes, he would. And then I’d lose you, Steele. Is that what you want? Do you want to be decommissioned and leave me here without you?”
“No, Hex, of course not-“
“Then for the love of the Maker, use your brain to think before acting! Especially when you’re angry!”
“I’m sorry, vod,” he sighed, stopping his pacing to stand next to his brother. Hex sighed as well, pulling him into a hug.
“I’m sorry for yelling, I just-I can’t lose you.”
“I know, Hex. And I don’t want to put you through that.”
Sans watched the two hug and quietly make up for their little argument. He couldn’t help the small smile that fell on his lips. The bond these two held was one of the most sacred things to Sans. He always did everything in his power to make sure one would never lose the other.
“Pardon me,” Sans heard a gentle voice say off to his side. He looked over to see Plo Koon standing with his arms clasped in front of him.
“General Plo,” Sans said, nodding to the Jedi. Plo was one of the more reasonable ones, and Sans liked him so he decided he would be respectful until given a reason not to be.
“The council has made a new decision. Please, come inside.” Plo motioned to the door for the clones to enter, and Hex and Steele separated to do so.
They stood in the middle of the room again, stern expressions plastered on their faces again.
“Separating you and your General, a mistake we have made. Allow you to reunite with her in battle, we shall,” Yoda said. Hex and Steele looked to Sans to gauge his reaction. His face was still set and stern, eyes trained on the Jedi Master. He nodded his head, waiting for a moment before speaking.
“Thank you, General Yoda. Though this does not mean we forgive you for what happened. We believe wholeheartedly that General Jinn never should have been taken from the war. We believe you should respect her ways and accept them for what they are.”
“Her ways are in clear violation of the Jedi code,” Mace argued.
“Not everybody believes in your Jedi code. Some find it to be more absurd than practical.” Hex commented.
“She walks the line of the darkside. If she steps over, she will become dangerous and an enemy to us and the Republic.”
“You’re wrong, y/n would never be an enemy to us. Not to the 17th,” Steele said. Mace held his gaze before the clone turned to his commander. Sans nodded, and then led the boys from the room.
“So, who gets to tell the rest of the boys?” Hex asked. They all looked at each other before Sans broke into a sprint towards the elevator.
“FIRST ONE THERE GETS TO TELL THEM!” He yelled back. Steele immediately shoved Hex to the ground before running after his commander.
“THAT'S NOT FAIR!” Hex yelled, grumbling as he got up to chase after them.
~~~
Your stay on Dohbar was more productive than you had thought it would be. After you settled things with Kwol, you were able to make lots of progress and get things done. The weeks didn’t drag as much as you thought they would, with the days being fun, except for the politics and royal duties, and the random chats with Echo added to your joy.
You were peacefully meditating in your garden after another boring morning of meetings. Kwol had fallen asleep halfway through, and Ahni had become too much for you to handle alone. Eventually, you told her you needed to end it for the day or you were going to astral project into the force. She gave you an annoyed look before waving you off with a hand. You had immediately jumped up, scaring Kwol awake in the process, and ran to your room to comm Echo. When he had answered, he apologized and said he could only talk for a few minutes as he was about to go train, and you reluctantly let him go.
After you moped around your room for a bit, missing everyone back on Coruscant, you decided to go outside and meditate. It was the easiest way to pass time quickly and be productive. It also allowed you to play games in your mind, and you were currently in the middle of a “puzzle,” stacking imaginary blocks as they fell from the sky.
You heard a distant voice calling for you from the real world, and you groaned as your game dissipated around you, right as you were going to win. You realized it was Plo contacting you from Coruscant, so you immediately answered.
“Master Plo, is everything alright?” You asked. You were curious as to why he would be contacting you, as the council knew how angry you were with them.
“Young Jinn, the council has realized we made a mistake in removing you from the war,” he said.
“Oh, and it took you this long to realize?” You asked, slightly agitated by his words.
“I give my sincerest of apologies, young Jinn. Though I want you to know that I didn’t not agree with the decision.”
“I know, Plo,” you sighed. “So, was there any other reason you commed me?”
“Yes. I am to inform you that you are to meet up with the 17th battalion to go on another mission.”
“Seriously?” You asked, jumping up excitedly.
“Yes. They are already on their way. I expect you can fly to the venator?”
“Of course! Thank you, Plo!” You said, rushing inside to pack your things after the comm ended.
“What’s got you so excited?” Kwol asked as he wandered into your room. You turned around and looked at him with an apologetic gaze.
“I’ve been called back early,” you said, and you saw his expression fall.
“Seriously? You couldn’t have said no?”
“I’m not even heading to Coruscant, I’m going straight to the venator and then the battle. I didn’t have a chance to say no, because the 17th is already enroute, and they need a general.”
“But what about Dohbar? What about everything you still haven’t done here?” He asked, and you shook your head.
“There will always be more to do here, Kwol. But right now, my men need me to lead them.”
“And so do your people,” he countered.
“Kwol, don’t make me leave on bad terms,” you said quietly. You reached up and held his cheek and he closed his eyes, sighing into your touch.
“Make me a promise.”
“What’s the promise?”
“That no matter how much you love them, you won’t forget us for your new family.”
You felt your heart ache at the thought of him thinking you’d ever forget him or Ahni. They'd been your best friends when you were young, and you couldn't imagine a life without them.
“Kwol, I promise I’ll never forget you,” you said.
“I hope that you don’t break this promise,” he replied before stepping back. “Let me walk you to your ship,” he said. You nodded and grabbed your bags, leading him out of your bedroom. You stopped to say goodbye to Ahni and a few palace aides before you got to the hangar. Kwol stood by the doors and watched you climb onto your ship. You waved at him from the viewport before starting it and flying out, punching in the coordinates for where you would meet your men.
The flight to your troopers wasn’t terribly long, and soon enough you were walking down the boarding ramp and towards your Commander, Captain, and Major.
“Good to see you again, boys,” you said with a wide grin as you approached your men. “Missed you guys.”
“I hope you didn’t miss us too much, mesh’la,” Sans said. “That would mean you like us.”
“Oh, shut it,” you said, playfully swinging at his shoulder before wrapping him in a tight hug.
“Missed you,” he mumbled. Hex and Steele joined in on the hug as well, making you smile into Sans. Soon, as in not even a second later, the rest of your men ran over and had a big group hug with you. You felt your heart swell with their love, and the love you had for them. Of course, the moment didn’t last long, as you were on your way to a battle. When everyone dispersed, Hex began to lead your normal little group to the bridge to begin the briefing.
“How was your little trip?” He asked as you walked.
“Good, other than I got sick the first morning,” you replied.
“Got sick? What was wrong?” Aid asked, joining the conversation as you passed him.
“Oh, it was nothing. I think it was just nerves, as the night before was really tense between me and Kwol.”
“Makes sense,” he shrugged, though his eyes still looked curious. “Was there anything else? Or just getting sick?”
“Well, dizziness and nausea before, but again, it’s not unusual for me when I’m nervous,” you shrugged.
“If you say so,” he said before walking to the medbay.
“Now, about this mission,” you said, turning to Hex as you stood around the holotable.
“So, here’s what we know,” Hex said, projecting a map from the holotable. “This right here is a Separatist base. They are guarding a large mine that they are using to collect materials for weapons and more droids. It is a very important operation, so the defenses are a lot stronger than any normal mine.”
“What exactly does a lot stronger mean? Because normally, mines are pretty weakly defended. A lot stronger could mean a twenty minute battle, or it could mean a five day skirmish back and forth.”
“Shouldn’t be more than a day's worth of fighting, and that’s if things don’t go to plan. If they do, no more than a few hours there.”
“Good, I want to get back to Coruscant,” you said.
“Aww, does someone miss their lover clone?” Steele teased, elbowing you in the side.
“I’m right here!” Sans joked, and you rolled your eyes playfully.
“Yeah, you wish you were my lover.”
“Ah, but alas. You found another to win your heart,” he said, bringing his hand to his chest. “I shall now die sad, empty, and alone.”
“You’re ridiculous,” you laughed, pushing him to the side. As he stumbled, he gave you a smirk and dramatically fell to the floor.
“Ahh! You’ve thrown me to the ground to stomp on me! You are so determined to crush my love for you!”
“Has he been this way the entire time I was gone?” You questioned the other two.
“No, actually. We all were pretty upset,” Hex said, scratching the back of his head. Your grin turned into a thin line as you narrowed your eyes at him.
“Hex, why do you suddenly look guilty?”
“Uh…n-no reason,” he stuttered. Hex never stutters, not unless he’s done something wrong.
“Hex,” you pressed, folding your arms over your chest.
“Just…uh, just worry about it when we get back,” he said, giving you a shy smile.
“Maker, I don’t even want to know anymore,” you sighed. “Alright, let’s get back to this,” you said. Sans stood up and went back to your side as Hex continued relaying the information.
“We know that there are two blaster cannons located here and here. There are Watch towers here, here, and here. Each one is close enough to a blaster cannon to signal them and destroy anything or anyone that happens to be in their path when they fire.”
“So, how do we avoid them?”
“Well, the cave entrance is at the bottom of a mountain. The mountain doesn’t truly turn into a mountain until it gets higher up, so there is enough room to land there. If we do that, we could propel ourselves down and land on the side. That way, they won’t be able to signal anything to our approach. And if we’re lucky, they’ll try and blast us, but will end up destroying their own stuff.”
You listened intently to the planning, picturing the situation playing out in your mind. It seemed like a fairly good idea, and that not much could go wrong.
“Hex, it’s a great plan, like always. Good job,” you said, resting a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey! We helped too!” Sans and Steele said in unison.
“I’m sure you did,” you replied, giving them small smiles.
“We never get appreciated around here,” Steele grumbled playfully.
“Oh, you never get appreciation? You never go down to the streets of Coruscant and get a free meal? You don’t get civvie clothes from Aleiah? You don’t get cuddle piles and snuggles with me whenever you want?”
Steele opened his mouth to reply but shut it in defeat. He narrowed his eyes at you and Sans stuck out his tongue.
“Maybe I didn’t miss you as much as I thought,” you said jokingly as you walked past them and to the door.
“Uh! How dare you say that!” Steele gasped.
“You know you missed us so much more than you’ll ever know!” Sans added.
“You at least missed me,” Hex stated. “I’m the behaved one.”
“But I know you’re keeping something from me, and the second we get back, I’m finding out what it is,” you said before leaving the room and going to the bunks.
“Kriff, we’re in for it when we get back,” Hex muttered.
“Yeah…we didn’t really think any of that through, did we?” Steele added, thinking about everything they’d done.
“Oh well, can’t undo it now,” Sans shrugged in defeat.
Soon enough, as you lay on your bunk, you received a message that the transports would be departing soon, as you had reached the planet. You hopped off of the bed and eagerly made your way to the hangar. All the clones around you were buzzing with excitement. They hadn’t been in a real battle for weeks, and they were ready to get back into it.
“Alright, does everyone know the plan?” You asked the squad leaders and pilots. They nodded in unison, confirming that they were ready.
“Alright, let’s make this quick and easy. There doesn’t need to be any fancy shows, just get in, destroy the base, get out.”
“Let’s head out,” Sans said, and the troopers went to their respective transports. As the others began to fly out, yours remained where it was.
“Y/n,” the pilot said over the comms, “it appears this transport is malfunctioning. I can’t get it to start up.”
You hopped out and went over to take a look at where he was. He’d pulled a panel off and was looking at the wires, and you did your best to help, though you knew little about ships and wiring.
“Y/n, your transport still hasn’t left. Everything alright?” Hex asked over the comms.
“Yeah, our transport isn’t starting up. We’re looking at the wires now,” you responded, and an engineer was soon by your side.
“I’m going to need you to go to the control panel on the inside and wait for my instructions,” he told the pilot. The pilot nodded, rushing back into the cockpit. You stood anxiously by the engineer's side as he led the pilot through the repairs. Not knowing what was happening down on the planet was bothering you. Of course, if something major happened, Sans, Hex, or Steele would tell you. And one of your other men would tell you if something happened to them.
If something happened to them.
A wave of fear rushed over you before you calmed yourself again. You were thinking irrationally. Nothing would happen to them. You’d all make it out safe and alive, unharmed. You usually did, why would this be any different?
The sound of the transport starting up beside you pulled you from your thoughts.
“She should be good to fly now!” The engineer said.
“Alright, everyone get back on,” you said. Your troopers joined you as you got on, and the ship began to fly out of the hangar towards the battle. Unfortunately, the enemy was already engaged, and they were prepared for when your ship joined the rest.
A cannon blast flew right past the ship, and the pilot had to violently steer away to miss it.
“Hang on everyone!” He shouted over the comms, and the ship began to lean to the side. You grabbed onto the holder just in time as you were pitched forwards. A few troopers were unlucky enough to have not prepared and smacked into the wall.
“Care to fly a little steadier?” Tie sarcastically asked over the comms.
“Would you rather get blasted?” The pilot responded. Tie just huffed and grabbed a holder. “Landing now! Get your weapons ready, it’s open season out here!”
Your men all grabbed their weapons and as soon as the doors began to open, blaster shots flew inside. Only one clone was unlucky enough to be standing in the way, and fell instantly.
“Stay behind me!” You shouted at them, igniting your lightsaber to begin blocking the attacks.
“We need support from the ground!” You shouted over the comms. “We need the far left cannon taken out!”
“We’re on it!” Steele said. He led his squad of clones over to the cannon as you tried to lead yours down the mountain and towards the main battle. A few platoons of droids had been deployed to the area you were in, and they were attacking you as you moved. You and your men focused on destroying them before you attempted to get down to the main fighting.
There was little cover where you were, and no room to spread out. The droids had almost direct shots on your men, but even then, your troopers were skillful enough to escape nearly every shot.
“We’ve almost got them!” You said as you sliced through a droid. You heard a few eager cheers come from behind you, and you smiled before it quickly fell as you yelled.
“Tie! Watch out!”
Your blood nearly froze as you watched Tie run towards another trooper. A group of droids had almost surrounded him, and Tie noticed before deciding to run over to help. He tackled his brother to the ground before rolling over and blasting the droids.
“Are you both okay?” You asked after you ran over.
“Yeah, just…a little shaky,” the clone Tie saved responded. You recognized him as one of your new troops.
“Keep your head in the fight so you don’t lose it,” Tie said.
“The cannon is down, y/n!” Steele’s voice yelled through the comms.
“Great! We can start heading down now, boys,” you said, beginning to lead them to where they would descend.
“Alright, three at a time,” you said as you finally reached the edge. You stood over them, watching as they made their way down. When they had safely reached the bottom, the next clones waiting went down. You counted them all as they passed you, making mental notes of who was missing from before.
“Looks like we’re the last group,” the shiny from earlier said. You nodded, and he began his descent.
Suddenly, a cannon shot flew towards the ledge you were standing on. Before you could react, you were falling through the air towards the ground. When you hit, a loud cracking could be heard, and everything went black as your body rolled a few feet. You were motionless except for the slightest movement of your chest as you took in small, weak breaths.
“GENERAL JINN!” Sans yelled, having watched the event from the ground. He ran over to you and fell to his knees. He lifted you up and felt for a pulse. It was there, but it was weak.
“MEDIC!” Sans yelled. “WE NEED A MEDIC!” He lifted your body and ran to the closest ship. Aid was quickly by his side and running with him. When Sans got to the ship, he laid you down and before Aid got to work, Sans turned him to look into his face.
“DON’T YOU DARE LET HER DIE!” He yelled before going to the pilot.
“GET HER BACK TO THE VENATOR, IMMEDIATELY!” He yelled at the pilot.
“Sir yes sir!” The pilot responded, hopping into the cockpit and flying away.
“Commander, we need you back out here!” Someone called over the comm link. Sans took one last glance at the shrinking ship and then ran back to the battle.
“Sans, where is y/n?” We need her over here!” Steele yelled while they blasted droids.
“She was blasted off of a ledge and fell. She’s unconscious and on a ship back to the venator,” Sans replied, not having the time to tell him in a better setting. He kept it brief and simple, hoping Steele would understand his rush. Steele paused slightly, but didn’t waste time giving a proper reaction. He just kept blasting the droids, fighting for his life and the lives of his brothers around him.
~~~
The ship you were on had barely landed before the pilot jumped out, Aid still tending to you inside. The pilot ran to the elevator for the bridge, needing to find the admiral.
“Admiral! It’s General Jinn! She’s severely injured and must get back to Coruscant immediately!” The clone said, bursting into the bridge. The admiral looked at him for a second before he shook his head.
“We cannot leave the battle, we are needed here! If a quick escape becomes necessary, we are the only way out for the rest of the troopers.”
“But sir! The General is in critical condition! She has to get back to Coruscant before it’s too late!”
Though it was true that the venator was needed here for the battle, the admiral knew that it was now his responsibility to make sure you got back to Coruscant safely and immediately. He thought for a moment before an idea came to him.
“Alright, get her onto a medical transport and fly back to Coruscant!”
“Sir yes sir!” The pilot responded, turning to run back and tell Aid. They quickly moved you to a medical transport before beginning to head back to Coruscant, racing against time through space.
~~~
Echo, Anakin, and Ahsoka were all in the hangar after having just come back from a battle. They were joking around, Echo telling them about how Fives slipped while trying to show off to some shinies. Rex had also been there, and he had shaken his head at the ARC trooper.
As they were talking, Ahsoka heard the ship you were on enter, and turned to look at it.
“A medical transport?” She questioned, pointing to the ship that had just landed in the hangar.
“Looks like it,” Echo said.
“It’s from y/n’s fleet,” Anakin pointed out.
“Why would a medical transport be flying all the way to Coruscant?” Ahsoka asked. “Isn’t she pretty far away?”
“Yeah, she is,” he responded. Anakin thought for a second before his eyes widened.
“They only would have flown all the way here if someone important was severely injured,” he said before he started to run over to the ship. Ahsoka looked at Echo and shrugged before they ran after him.
As they approached, the ramp started to extend and Aid came running out with someone on a stretcher.
“Tell someone to prepare the infirmary!” He yelled at no one in particular, the pilot jumping out to follow after him.
“We need to save her!”
“Wait, her?” Ahsoka said. Her hand flew to her mouth as she caught sight of the broken body that was being taken to the infirmary.
“No,” Echo said, the blood draining from his face.
Anakin sprinted after the clones and looked at your unconscious form. Your body was pale and broken, cuts and bruises everywhere. He felt sick to his stomach seeing you like this.
“What happened to her?” He demanded, grabbing Aid’s arm.
“No time to explain right now sir, we have to get her to help!” He responded.
“Let me see her!”
“I’m sorry, but she needs to get proper help immediately!”
“Then let me be there!”
“Sorry sir, that is against protocol! I can’t let you in the room with her!” Aid said, brushing Anakin off and running into the medbay. Anakin yelled after him, but was stopped by other clones from running in.
After a minute, your pilot came back out.
“Tell me what is going on! What happened to her?” Anakin said, getting in the clone's face. The clone retold the story of what happened, watching as Anakin’s face slowly covered with even more fear. He gave his apologies to Anakin before heading back to the transport and leaving.
Echo stood stiff where he was. He was frozen with fear and worry. He wanted nothing more than to run over to you, but he knew the clones would just push him away. He wouldn’t get to see you, wouldn’t get to hold you. So he watched from a distance as Anakin tried to get close. He heard his furious shouts as he was denied seeing you, denied being by your side.
He watched as Anakin talked to your pilot before he walked back over, his head hung low in anger and defeat.
“What do you know?” Echo asked immediately.
“She was on a platform when a cannon blast hit, causing her to fall to the ground. She’s unconscious and has broken bones-she’s in critical condition. Echo,” Anakin said, looking at the trooper, “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s-there’s….you can’t do anything,” he said, fighting to get the right words out. “She’ll be okay,” he said, raising a shaking hand to run through his hair. “She’s strong, she’ll fight this.”
“Echo…”
“I’m going to…kriff, I don’t even know,” Echo said, shaking his head and walking away.
He ended up making his way to your quarters, and he found the stuffed porg he had hidden for your return from Dohbar. He grabbed it and went down to the medbay, sitting on a chair outside of your room. And he sat there, refusing to move until he was allowed to see you. Fives brought him food and sat by him in silence, offering quiet support and reassurance. It wasn’t until the next day that Echo could see you, and feeling your cold hand in his, but not reciprocating the hold, was a cold and harsh reminder of what he may never feel again.

E G B X
thanks for playing!! 💞💞
B. what’s your favorite fandom to read?
can’t pick a fav, but probs the most i consume by sheer number is star wars. 💀💀💀 then of course yautja (bc this is a yautja sideblog) and i also love hobbit/lord of the rings 😌❤️ tho i do also read some dc comics fics (specifically dcau/jlu) and the labyrinth fics bc david bowie as king jareth owns me.
E. who is your OTP?
tbh i don’t think i really have one? like there’s couples that i think are very wholesome when written well (bobadin, shaak ti/luminara unduli, to name a few) but none of them really reach that “OTP threshold” for me y’know? 😅
G. longfics or shortfics?
for reading, longfics bc they are the only thing keeping me afloat, and i generally tend to write shortfics.
X. give a summary of your current project!
.... soooooo i kinda have multiple wips atm. most are requests (one of which i’ve made a carnation prequel 👀), but obvi the final part of carnation kinda takes centerstage huh? 😅 but to make a veryyy long part short: basically it’s a collection of snippets of khu-eon’s childhood, new additions to the clan (wink wink), and reader’s journey to becoming welcome to her mates’ clan ship. plus a very special ending (wink wink wonk). 😉😉

Thank you @stellanslashgeode for the tag I absolutely love playing tag games and love any chance to blab about fic writing ☺️ it’s an honor to be recognized by the author of Contrasts!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
11 works; 8 completed and 3 of them being ongoing pieces.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
350,036 words 😳
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Exclusively Star Wars for, specifically prequel era characters.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Padawans (324 kudos), Master and Apprentice (136 kudos), Finding The Light (81 kudos), Luminara and Barriss (77 kudos), and The Second Daughter of Luminara Unduli (70 kudos)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! Every single one of them I will comment back on because if you’re kind enough to leave a comment on my work, the least I can do is give you a response. Comments literally make my day faster than anything else ❤️
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It’s a toss up between Traveling With The Stars, The Day of Love, and Primroses.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The Padawans
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully no, I’ve been pretty lucky but even if I did I wouldn’t care.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write implied/light sex scenes but nothing smutty; it’s weirdly enough not my favorite thing to write about but I’m not really good at it personally. Like sex to me is easier to just do instead of describing it. I’ll try improving on it but then again I want my works to reach a wider audience because some people don’t like sex scenes at all.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No and I have no desire to write any crossover because that is a lot of work and they’ve never been my personal favorite stories to read.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I would be so honored if any of them ever did!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! With the amazing @mini-and-mighty on the work Master and Apprentice (that we most definitely need to collaborate and finish sometime!) and I’d love to do it more with whoever is interested!
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Barrissoka (Ahsoka Tano x Barriss Offee) of course!
14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I always intend on finishing all of my projects otherwise I wouldn’t write them to begin with so eventually things will be completed.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I feel that I’m good at putting action sequences into words that readers can follow easily, developing the characters and creating complete arcs for them beginning to end, inputting all the right references, laying down and managing multiple story threads that make sense later on, and keeping readers engaged. Unless it is a one shot I love putting all sorts of twists and turns with good endings that are either happy or end in a cliffhanger. Above all, I believe I’m really good at creating meaningful, emotional stories; none of them are dull or one dimensional.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Sex scenes and world building.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
…I don’t do it 🤣 unless I’m completely fluent in another language it ain’t happening because I don’t like to make up languages either.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars of course!
19.) Favorite fic you’ve written?
That’s like asking what my favorite child is because I love all of them for different reasons but I would have to go with The Padawans just because I’ve put the most blood, sweat, and tears into that one and I’m so proud of it. That story also finally put me on the map of Barrissoka fanfiction and I’ve met so many friends through its creation along with my wife so yes it will always have a special place in my heart. But I think Luminara and Barriss is going to be sharing the first place spot once it’s finished.
No pressure tags: @devondeal @bluedeedeedoop @mini-and-mighty @kaaragen @archduke42 @skygirlstars and all my other fic writing friends that wanna join in!
20 Questions for Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 49. I have a few options for #50…
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 299,440. Ok, I hadn’t realized I was that close. Now, my answer to #1 might be “a new 560-word drabble.”
3. What fandoms do you write for? I’m nearly exclusively writing for Avatar: Legend of Korra, with a little bit of Last Airbender, where it fits in.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. Rainstorm - Su is there for Lin, for once. 2. The Well of Need - My first long-form story, with Lin taking care of Kya. 3. This is My Anchor - A mid-sized Kyalin story where Lin doesn’t make Kya take care of her. 4. I’m Sorry I Need You - An angsty one-shot that fits with a couple others in the “marriage is hard” domain. 5. Walk With Me - A longer-than-intended one-shot variant on a Tumblr joke.
5. Do you respond to comments? I do, as soon as I can. Sometimes, that means getting off work. Sometimes, that means giving a response as meaningful as the comment was to me.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? For complete stand-alone stories, that is likely Something Changed, where the last words are usually joyous. I can’t find the link for the worst-worst ending I have, so just pretend that never happened.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? The happiest ending? I like my happy endings, so this is tough. But I think I’ll go for Elemental Changes, because that launched my collaboration with @slowdissolve on Red Jade.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not hate, exactly. One reader informed me that I had ‘let them down’ on a follow-up story because I didn’t write the story that was in their head.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I’ve done a little, but it hasn’t been a focus for me. And, aside from the polyamory aspect, it’s all as vanilla as it comes.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Not unless you count LOK + ATLA a crossover, which I don’t.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not to date.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? @slowdissolve and I wrote Moonsigns together, and we published two versions. One is told in first-person language and color coded, on Tumblr. We then followed it up with a more traditional third-person version that does not rely on color, on AO3.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Kyalin is where everything opened up for me.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I’m taking quite the long view of all of this. I haven’t added to Their Sacred Year in a while, but have the outline for the next installment, so I don’t consider it abandoned.
16. What are your writing strengths? Folks seem to like my dialogue and plotting.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I struggle with the final rising action / climax / falling action, to keep the pacing appropriate to the story.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don’t plan on it, given I am uneducated in the languages appropriate to this setting.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Legend of Korra.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Saving the hardest for last. Naming the favorite child. Ok, fine. In that case, I’ll have to choose <wrestles with self> Elemental Changes (see #7), mostly because it’s a completely off-the-wall idea that I was able to see through and complete. And to have Slowdissolve illustrate the ending was an absolute capstone.
So I get to thank both @krastbannert and @wishingforatypewriter for their invitations!
Now, it's time to throw the floor open to folks like @yell0wsalt, @dont-blame-it-on-the-kids, @linguini17, @frogblast-the-ventcore, @badlucksav, @cdlunee, and of course,
you.

(Clone Wars- Bad Batch) One of These Things is Not Like the Other: Chapter 1
-A batch that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest.  Pair them with a jedi that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest.  It can only result in something extraordinary-
Notes: Eventual Hunter x Reader...
Reader is assigned to an elite squad for a mission to Geonosis to investigate and hopefully confirm the termination of the Geonosian queen that was caught in the collapse of a tunnel.  It’s a risky mission.  Little does Reader know that the squad she’s teaming up with are not the usual troopers.  It’s okay, though, because she’s not the usual jedi.
The gunship roared as it carried you to your next destination.  You shifted in place, casting a curious glance at the squad that you had just been assigned to work with.  They were unlike any squad you’d seen before.  The largest “Bad Batch” member, Wrecker, was the strongest soldier you’d met.  When being introduced, he had greeted you with a firm handshake that was just a little too tight.  Crosshair hadn’t said much, but the rifle that he kept on him and the tattoo of crosshairs on his right eye said a lot about his special skill.  He acknowledged you with a quiet nod.  The one they called Tech wore goggles and seemed to carry a lot of gear.  You learned that he handled a lot of intelligence and technological matters.  The leader- whose name you learned was Hunter- more closely resembled the soldiers you’d worked with in the past.  He remained a mystery.
The Bad Batch seemed to be equally as curious about you.  A few times you caught Crosshair blatantly staring at you, dark eyes flickering to the deactivated lightsaber at your hip.  Wrecker met your gaze and simply gave a wide grin.  You weren’t sure what he was smiling about.  Either way, it was somewhat contagious.  You found yourself returning the grin, internally shrugging off the interaction.  His size was intimidating at first, you admitted to yourself, but he countered it with his easy-going nature.  Like Crosshair, Tech was staring at you through those goggles, except his gaze wasn’t as intense.  In fact, he was the one to break the silence.
“We should be arriving at Geonosis quite soon,” he said.  “According to my databanks, there have been a few major battles here.  Have you ever been, Commander _________?”
“Just _________,” you corrected.  “I haven’t gone by Commander in a long time.  And no, I was fortunate enough to avoid this bug-and-worm-infested planet up until now.”  You grimaced.  “Seriously, the things I’ve heard....”
“Ah,” Tech nodded.  “You’d be referring to the Geonosian worm phenomenon.”
   Wrecker frowned.  “The what?”
“Geonosian worms were a tool the Geonosian queen used to control the minds of their hosts.  They were first discovered by Jedi Luminara Unduli, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker while in pursuit of the criminal Poggle.  An incident also occurred where some of these worms managed to get aboard a ship on course to pick up medical supplies.  Fortunately, it was discovered that these worms had a weakness to the cold, and the situation was under control.
“Yes, that would’ve been my friends Ahsoka and Barris,” you said.  They were younger than you, but close enough in age that you spent some time training with them briefly before you moved on.  Ahsoka and Anakin in particular were famous for their unusual battle tactics, and well, you had that in common with them.
“The GAR has issued a warning to all to keep an eye out for these Geonosian parasites,” Tech added.  “And since we’re heading into the belly of the beast, so to say, we need to be extra careful.  I’ll be doing regular scans of you all.”
“Great,” Hunter muttered.  “Just what we need- more killer bugs.”
You shrugged.  “This planet is all kinds of weird.”
“You’ve got that right,” Wrecker agreed with a snort.  “It’s too bad we couldn’t have a mission somewhere nice, like Naboo.  I hear it’s reaaally pretty this time of year.”  He gave Crosshair a nudge, to which the sharpshooter rolled his eyes.
“You just want to meet the Naboo senator,” he muttered.
   “Guilty as charged,” Wrecker grinned.
You chuckled, thinking how very unhappy your friend Anakin would be to hear how this conversation went.  “Who knows, maybe we’ll end up there next time.  For now, we get the dust and the bugs.”
Hunter shifted his stance.  “Just think of all the bugs we get to blast.”
“And study,” Tech added, holding up an index finger.  “Part of my job is to collect more information if we do find any of these worms or even the queen.”
“Oh, great,” you mumbled.  “I’m liking this mission a little less now.”
“Don’t worry,” Wrecker clapped a hand on your back.  “We can handle it.”
“I don’t doubt that.”  You gave him a smirk.  “I’ve heard lots of good things about this squad.  I’m just not crazy about dark tunnels.  Or mind-controlling worms.  Or undead Geonosians.”
“You know,” Hunter spoke up again, catching your gaze.  “We’ve heard quite a bit about the jedi.  Even met a few.”  He stood there with his hip jutting to the side as he eyed you quizzically.  “But you’re different.”
You met his gaze.  Underneath the composed exterior, your heart ached at the mention of your former order, and yet you were satisfied that you had successfully distinguished yourself.  The sergeant remained fixed on you as if waiting for some sort of explanation or response.  Finally, you offered a slight smile and said, “I am no jedi.”

the pain
pairing: anakin skywalker x senior padawan!reader
word count: 1.422k
warnings: angst, cursing, forbidden love, small age gap, arguing
a/n: i wrote this at 3 a.m. because i saw a lot of anakin & just wanted to write out some anakin. i hope y’all enjoy :)
summary: as the padawan of anakin skywalker, you can’t but fall in love with the jedi master. however, one night, after a fight with his lover on naboo, new feelings come to light.
Tumblr media
“good evening to you ms. (l/n),” c-3po chirped, “what brings you here to ms. amidala’s personal quarters?”
“i was waiting on the ship like master skywalker instructed for me to do,” you shrugged, “but i felt a disturbance in the force.”
“oh good heavens!” c-3po shook his head, raising his hands ever so slightly, “i would not advise that you enter the room. master skywalker and master amidala are having a private conversation.”
muffled yells from behind the chamber doors piqued your interest, your brows furrowing, “is there trouble in paradise, c-3po?”
“i am afraid so,” you pursed your lips as his response, “master skywalker seemed as if he was in the most horrid mood.”
“well if i was-” you began, but bit your tongue, “do you think it’s a good idea if i enter the room?”
r2-d2 whistled, advising against the idea. you exhaled, “i just might have to wait with you, r2. i don’t want to backtrack all the way to the ship.”
muttering to yourself, you slid against the wall beside the doors, pressing your ear against it. from the sound of it, things were not going well. even though you were given clear instructions to stay onboard the ship, you couldn’t help but be a little nosy. it didn’t hurt to pry sometimes, especially when it involved your master.
anakin skywalker was your jedi master, the individual in charge of all of your jedi training. since you began training with him about a year ago, you could sense something different about him. sure, he was a little young to take on a padawan, but it was something else. far more brooding. yet, you could not quite place your finger on it. however, your affection for the jedi clouded any foul judgments against him.
since you were seventeen, you developed feelings for your master. even though it was strictly forbidden by the jedi, you couldn’t help but fall for your master. after all, he was quite dashing, and carried a wonderful personality. with his unruly, sandy blonde hair, and icy, mysterious, blue eyes, you couldn’t help but fall under his spell. anakin was handsome, without a doubt.
and it went without a doubt that you were completely and hopelessly in love with him. anakin was in his twenties, and his charming, youthful, brash, personality drew you in as well. anakin was there for you in ways that your fellow jedi padawans couldn’t be. the two of you spent hours upon hours together, traveling for missions, or decoding datapads in the archives of the jedi temple. the two of you were attached to the hip, often praised for your close relationship.
if anakin ordered you to do anything, you did it with no hesitations. after all, you carried an immense amount of respect for anakin. most of his missions were proven to be successful, and his quick wit and cunning in battle was useful. his desire to never give up was admirable as well. also, you couldn’t help but adore the fact that he would never abandon you. ever. no matter how many times obi-wan kenobi or jedi luminara unduli lectured him on the negative affects of attachments, anakin never left you.
often, at night, you would overthink the boundaries of you and anakin’s relationship. there were brief moments in which anakin showed more than just a friendship with you. he would carry you to the ship when you were exhausted, injured, or cold. he was ensure that you ate before him. also, he would always tell you goodnight, no matter if you were frustrated, disappointed, or on good terms with him. those were the instances that kept your mind churning at night. you were freshly eighteen now, and a seasoned jedi padawan. maybe the two of you could form a romantic relationship. what if anakin loved you? what if the two of you were in love? what if you both were soul mates?
yet, there was a stark reality compared to your fantasies. although he believed you were deceived, you knew exactly what went on behind closed doors, what occurred when anakin was away. he was deeply involved with senator padmé amidala of naboo. how he was fooling the entirety of the jedi council, along with obi-wan, you had no idea. it was not only deceptive to his comrades, but deceptive to you. his own padawan. the one person who trusted him completely.
“maybe we should take some time apart,” anakin’s sentiment snapped you from your thoughts, “to clear our minds.”
“how can you say that when we’re married anakin?” you could sense padmé’s despair, the tears that she was choking back, do you think that our relationship can just end like that?”
“i do think so,” anakin’s voice was low, “i’m not sure how you believe that this is working, that we are working.”
“anakin what if i’m pregnant?” padmé’ pleaded, “what if i am carrying our unborn children? what are you going to do? just let our children be without a father?”
“is that a jab at me?” anakin’s voice rose, “i didn’t have a father in my life, but look how i turned out. and i turned out fine, padmé. i am a jedi knight, a general of an army. now, if you are pregnant, then you may reach out to me. i do not sense any other life forms in the room with us right now, so you must be lying. my padawan is waiting for me, i have to go.”
“you can’t just leave me like this anakin,” padmé’ sobbed, “it’s not right.”
“but if i leave it would make your life so much easier! we wouldn't have to sneak around anymore. you could be the senator you always wanted to be, you could be chancellor padmé, i have full faith in your abilities. i just need some time alone.”
“it’s her isn’t it?” your eyes widened, an audible gasp tumbling from your lips, “it’s that padawan of yours, isn’t it?”
“don’t you dare bring her into this. she is my padawan. nothing more, nothing less.” anakin retorted, his tone inflected with venom, “now, i have to go. she’s waiting for me.”
“i love you anakin..” her words crescendoed, meaning that anakin was about to leave the quarters.
you scrambled to your feet, practically sprinting, r2-d2 wheeling after you. you heart raced as your boots thudded against the floor, your mind buzzing as you made your way to the small ship docked in the palace. what did this mean? was their relationship over? did anakin just end the entirety of their marriage in a matter of minutes? did this mean that you had a chance? questions swirled in your mind, like a raging torrent, anxiety gnawing away your being as you slipped into the ship, awaiting anakin’s arrival.
minutes passed, anakin finally boarding the ship. his aura radiated despair, coming off of him in thick, intense waves. you swallowed, your eyes following every movement made by your master. desperately, you wanted to say something. to make sure anakin was stable, at the least.
“are you all right?” your voice was small, feeble under the roar of the engines.
anakin shot you a hard look, his icy eyes searching yours, “you heard everything, didn’t you?”
“i couldn’t help it and-” you blurted out, but you were cut off as anakin embraced you, wrapping his arms around your frame.
sobs racked his body, his breathing shortened as ragged as his painful wails echoed off the walls, r2 in shambles, whistling and beeping. you hushed r2, stating that it would be all right as you rubbed anakin’s back, going in slow, soothing circles.
“i already know what you want to ask,” anakin sucked in a breath, attempting to regain his composure.
“i’m not sure what you mean, master,” you whispered, your heart skipping a beat.
“i love you.”

I am see through, baby
So take a look inside
I am see through, baby
And I don't wanna hide
For the very first time
See Through-Pentatonix
Tumblr media
Being a Jedi meant many things. It meant diplomacy with even the most vile of creatures. It meant far too many life or death situations to be healthy. It meant being a shining beacon for all of the galaxy to look up to. It meant fighting the battles that most of the worlds never could. Most importantly, and certainly the most difficult thing, it meant keeping a facade of indifference to the pain in the world.
Well, you supposed it wasn’t indifference, necessarily. It was more so not showing that you were hurting. Not letting people see the fear that was gripping your heart when there were too many droids and not enough time to save everyone. Not showing the anger you felt when the enemy destroyed yet another town full of innocent citizens, or the heartbreak when another one of your comrades fell dead at the hands of those on the dark side.
It was growing harder to keep those emotions at bay. You could feel all of these feelings threatening to bubble over whenever you were in council meetings, on the field, or even just taking a walk. Meditation didn’t help you anymore. Nothing did.
Except the one thing that shouldn’t. Love.
Every moment that you spent with Anakin melted all of your anxieties away. Since he was more emotional than the other Jedi, he created a safe space for you to tell him all of your deepest fears. He never judged you, often sharing the same sentiments as you did. He always made you feel safe, a feeling that you thought that as a Jedi, you would never truly experience. When you were with him, you wore your heart out on your sleeve. You were see through, like a window, and you realized that you were okay with him seeing through you. Eventually, with reassurances that you could keep it quiet from the Council, the two of you got together. Unfortunately, when you needed him most, he wasn’t there.
Life was hitting you hard right now. You had lost almost a quarter of your clone troopers in a recent skirmish with the Separatists, as well as much of your equipment. You cared deeply for the men that fought by your side, and a loss of even one was enough to plunge you into the darkest depths of your thoughts. So the loss of so many made your heart indescribably heavy. You desperately needed to rest, but your pleas to the Council fell on deaf ears. They needed the remainder of your men to meet up with Master Luminara, who needed assistance with a sect of enemy fighters in the Mid Rim, and you were the closest one. When you got off of the holo call with them, you almost burst into tears. Jester, your commander, placed his hand on your shoulder in a comforting gesture.
“Why don’t you take a breather, General? You need as much strength as you can get before we meet up with General Unduli,” he suggested, though you knew it wasn’t really a suggestion.
“I believe I will, Commander,” you replied, “we all need a brief moment to collect ourselves before the coming battle.”
He nodded and turned back to his fellow troopers, and you dismissed yourself to your private quarters. Once there, you couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Everything felt like it was going wrong all at once. You had lost so many men, and no one was there to help you. No one could catch you while you were falling.
Almost as if he knew, a holo call from your beloved was coming through. You scrambled to answer it, placing the device on the table in front of you. You tried to wipe your tears away, but as soon as his figure appeared in front of you, they started as if they had never stopped.
“Oh, baby,” he cooed upon seeing the state you were in, “I’m so sorry.”
“I-It’s too much, Anakin. I c-can’t do this right now,” you sobbed.
“Yes, you can, love. I know you can. You’re one of the strongest people I know. Once you finish helping Luminara, you can come back to Coruscant again, and I can hold you as much as you need.”
“Until they send me out again. I feel stretched so thin, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. I-I just wish you were here with me. I need you.”
It was still hard for you to be so open with your emotions, but Anakin always encouraged you to tell him everything you were feeling, even if it was negative.
“Letting go of those emotions,” he would say, “will help you in the long run. Crying releases the dark feelings we all have, and that is just as valid of a way to keep the Dark Side at bay as meditation. Don’t hold back in front of me.”
You knew he was right, which is why you allowed yourself to show him all of your vulnerabilities. You trusted him, and he trusted you with the same things in return.
“You have me now, love. I may not be with you physically, but I’m always with you, no matter what. You can do this. Just let out all of the bad stuff now, and bring the best version of yourself you can to the table for this fight. I’ll be right here for you to lean on,” he comforted.
You smiled gently through your tears, “Thank you, Anakin. Somehow, you always know what to say.”
“Anytime, baby.”
A soft knock sounded at your door then.
“General,” came Jester’s voice through the door, “we’re almost there. We need you back out on the bridge.”
“Thank you, Commander,” you replied, “I’ll be out shortly.”
You turned your attention back to Anakin, “I have to go. Thank you. I’ll see you soon.”
“Of course. Good luck out there, and may the Force be with you. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” you murmured softly.
You saw a smile spread across his face as well before he ended the call. You straightened yourself out before exiting your room, where Jester was waiting for you.
“Better now, General?” he asked with a knowing look.
“Much, Commander. Now, let’s blow up some droids.”
Jester smirked, “That’s my general.”
The two of you walked swiftly down the winding hallways. No matter what happened during this fight, you were ready. And it was all thanks to the only man who had truly made you feel like you never had to hide.

A regretful Wolf and his Beauty
Chapter Two
Beast!Rex x Fem!reader
Summary: As punishment for his actions, young prince Rex was cursed to become a monster by a witch. The only thing that saved him from his fate was an enchantress, who gave him a condition. He has to find true love in order to redeem himself and he only has until the last petal of the enchanted rose falls. Rex's family helps you by guiding your way into his heart. Rex's fate now lies in your hands."
A/N: Rex's brothers are Fives, Echo, Cody, Bly and Stutter. The rest of the clones are cousins and\or uncles. Credit to @suddenly-clones for Cody’s nickname “Bubby”. A collab fic made with @ahsokatano-thetogruta. We hope you enjoy this chapter.
Warnings: mention of trauma, abuse and mental breakdowns.
After presents everyone gets breakfast, they all head to the main dining hall. Rex is so excited to have his breakfast. Cody already told him that he could have his favorite breakfast, strawberries and waffles, it's always been his favorite. Rex walks into the dining hall, seeing all his cousins. He chuckles at seeing his adopted one year old cousin, Numa eating her pancakes, sitting between his 17 year old cousins Waxer and Boil. The young twi’lek girl is covered from head to toe in syrup, so Waxer does his best to clean up any mess while Boil just chuckles and smiles. Rex runs up to Cody, excited for his breakfast.
“Hey Cody, is my breakfast ready yet?” Rex is smiling until he sees the frown on his brother's face.
“I’m sorry, Vodika. They're all out of strawberries and waffles.” Rex feels disappointment fill him, adding to the building pile of bad things today, he was so excited for his breakfast. Rex forces a smile, he knows that Cody tried his best.
“Its okay, Bubby. I know that you tried, can I have a pancake instead?” Rex uses his nickname for Cody that he's used ever since he was a baby. Cody chuckles, happy that Rex isn’t too upset. He feels bad for being unable to give him his favorite breakfast like promised.
“Of course you can, Rex’ika.” Cody heads into the kitchen, grabbing Rex a pancake.

After everyone has finished with their breakfast, some of the Knights are armoured up and ready to leave for a patrol around the village not too far away from the castle.
Yoda is the oldest Knight and has had nearly nine hundred years of experience. His second in command, Mace Windu, is thirty seven years old, but he too has had experience in battle being a knight. Twenty seven year olds Luminara Unduli and Depa Billaba were knighted only a few weeks ago, so they are both hoping to get some action soon. Twelve year old Aayla Secura, thirteen year old Kit Fisto and seventeen year old Quinlan Vos are knights in training, so going out with the older knights will give them a taste of what their duties are as knights.
"All ready to leave now, are you?" Yoda asks. The knights in front of him, wearing shiny silver armour, nod attentively as they all begin to march towards the main entrance of the castle. Yoda sees Rex walking out of the main dining hall. "Back soon, we will be, Prince Rex."
"Of course. Everything will be ready for when you arrive back." Rex smiles as he watches the knights walk out of the entrance, closing the doors behind them as they set out to go to the village.
Rex turns away from the entrance just in time to see Anakin run into the room, followed by Artoo, he runs over to Rex.
“Come on, Rex. Let's go find Obi Wan and Cody, I don't know where they went.” Anakin doesn't wait for an answer and starts pulling Rex with him, who rolls his eyes and follows.
“Okay Ani, lets go.” He pulls his arm out of Anakin's grip, and they both head out to find their brothers. Artoo yips as he follows behind them, he nips at their feet a few times, wanting them to play.
They both walk into another room, freezing when they see the sight of
Obi Wan and Cody kissing.
They had their arms wrapped around each other's bodies, Obi Wan cupping the left side of Cody's face, lightly tracing the scar with his thumb. It was love at first sight for the two of them. They met each other a few years ago, when Obi Wan arrived at the castle to be trained to become a knight. Now both at seventeen years old, they plan to get married at some point in the near future. Cody stroked Obi Wan’s cheek, feeling the stubble of a beard that had started growing there.
Anakin and Rex just stood there, feeling a little grossed out and embarrassed that they walked in on them kissing like this. Being kids, they don't really understand love yet and what people do in a relationship, but they think that love is a bit gross being only thirteen and twelve years old.
Cody and Obi Wan pulled away from each other to see the two of them just stood in the doorway, feeling their cheeks heat up a little. "Hello there you two." Obi Wan chuckles. Both the kids look grossed out, making both Obi Wan and Cody chuckle at them.
“Don’t look like that Anakin, once you’re older you’ll find someone you will want to kiss.” Obi Wan rolls his eyes when Anakin makes a fake gagging noise.
“EW!!! I’ll never want to kiss anyone, that's so gross!” Both Cody and Obi Wan laugh.
“You say that now, but you’ll change your mind once you’re older.” Anakin just shakes his head, not believing a word Obi Wan had said. Rex is standing there, laughing quietly. Cody turns to him.
“What are you laughing at Rex’ika, you’ll want to kiss too when you’re older.” Rex stops laughing and glares at Cody.
“That will never happen! Kissing is so gross.” Both Cody and Obi Wan can't stop laughing at the two young boys.
“Sure! You come to me in four years and tell me that.” Rex rolls his eyes at his brother, knowing that he’ll never want to kiss anyone. Ever.
"Yeah right, it's never gonna happen." Rex can't hold back a smirk any longer.
"Okay. I'll hold you to that one, Rex'ika." Cody teases Rex. He then feels Obi Wan's hand take his and holds it gently, making the both of them smile lovingly at each other.
"Quick Rex, let's go! They're gonna kiss again!" Anakin pulls Rex by his arm again and they both dart out of the room with Artoo following just behind them.
Obi Wan and Cody can't help but laugh out loud uncontrollably as the pair run out of the room. After regaining their breath, they look at one another again and lean in for a more intimate kiss, just wanting to stay here forever with each other.
xxx
Anakin and Rex ran for a while, both laughing and racing around the castle with each other down different halls. They stop when they see a fourteen year old girl looking out of a big window, enjoying the sight of the frozen lake as the snow gently falls past the window. Padmé turns to look at the two boys who just caught their breath after running around the castle. "Hello Prince Rex. Hello Anakin."
Anakin's heart skips a beat when she says his name. Rex can see that his cheeks have turned a little red, so he decides to give the both of them some alone time. Rex is very aware of their feelings for each other "I've just remembered, I promised to go and help Fives and Echo with something. I'll see you two later." He waves at the both of them, making Anakin glare at him as if to say don't leave me alone.
Anakin hears Rex chuckles subtly behind him as he turns to look at Padmé who smiles at him kindly, so he returns the smile back to her.
Rex walks down the hall, heading to a room close by, he smirks when he finds mistletoe inside of a drawer, ready to put his plan into action. He plans to set up the mistletoe, then call Anakin and Padme into the room right under it.
Rex walks over to the doorway, grabbing a chair to stand on, he hangs up the plant. It's in the perfect place for Anakin and Padme to get stuck under it. He hops down, setting the chair back and walking out. The two aren't very far away so he calls them.
“Hey, do you mind helping us you two. We need more than three people!!” Both Anakin and Padme glance at each other, wondering what the three could be doing that could need five people. But they shrug and head out to help their friend and his younger brothers, they walk into the room, looking around to find it empty except for Rex.
“What did you need Prince Rex? And where are the twins?” Padmé asks, confused.
“Yeah Rex, where's Fives and Echo?” Rex smirks a mischievous smirk, pointing up. The two look up to see the mistletoe, blushing as they realize what this means.
“You both know what mistletoe means.” He tells them as they glance at each other, Anakin is a deep shade of red.
“Umm, you… you don't have to kiss me if-!!!” Padme presses a kiss to his lips mid sentence, it's a quick one, but sweet all the same. She pulls away, leaving a flustered Anakin looking an even darker shade of red. Padmé giggles.
“You okay, Ani?” Anakin nods, not knowing what to say. Rex holds back laughter at his friend's reaction, Padme turns to Rex.
“Do you think that he's going to be okay?” She asks, and Rex nods.
“Yeah, i'm sure that he’s going to be fine.” Rex reassures her, walking out of the room and down the hall towards the ballroom. Rex is happy that he finally got the two of them to kiss. He's known about their secret feelings for a long time, so he found this to be the best time to get them to confess their feelings to each other.
“HEY, REX!!!!!” Rex jumps with a scream at his two younger brothers jumping out from behind one of the doors to the ballroom to scare him, Fives has Echo on his shoulders, making them
look bigger. Rex falls to the floor, feeling anger rise up in him.
Echo climbs off of Fives' shoulders as they both laugh at Rex, who is now sitting up on the floor and he does not look happy in the slightest.
"AHAHA, Rex! You should have seen your face!" Fives wipes some tears of laughter from the corner of his eye. He is enjoying it all too much and so is his twin Echo.
Rex clearly looks annoyed as he finally reaches his breaking point. He stares down towards the floor, trying so hard to hide his frustration from everyone else in the room but he thinks now that he has finally lost it.
Fives walks closer to him and holds his hand out to help Rex up. "Sorry, Vod. Here I'll help you-" Rex swats his hand away, causing Fives to flinch and making his smile disappear. Echo's smiling soon turns into worry too.
"You think this is funny?" He scowls a little as he gets up slowly by himself. "Y'know...I really don't need this stupid behavior right now!" Rex finally snaps at the both of them, making them feel hurt because it was only meant to be a funny joke.
Everyone in the room goes silent as they watch Rex's anger rise with every passing moment as he continues to get angry at Fives and Echo.
A few moments later, Obi Wan and Cody are holding hands as they walk past Cody's cousins Heavy, Droidbait and Cutup, then into the ballroom to see Rex yelling at the Twins.
Cody gives Obi Wan's hand a slight squeeze, letting him know that he needs to go and sort out whatever is going on.
"Rex, what's going on?" Concern washes over Cody's face when he sees Fives' and Echo's hurt expressions.
"Mind your own business, Cody." Rex snaps at his Ori'Vod. Cody doesn't take his tone lightly.
"What's up with you? Is something bothering you?"
"Just leave us alone…" Rex warns Cody, still keeping piercing, direct eye contact with the twins.
"Oh I don't think so. I'm sure that whatever they did wasn't harmful enough to-"
"Shut up!!" Rex isn't having any of what Cody has to say.
Anakin and Padmé then walk into the ballroom, seeing what was going on, the tension rising with each passing moment.
"Rex, you need to chill out, now." Cody tells him sternly.
"NO!" Rex's yell echoes around the room and Cody gets fed up with his Vod's behavior.
"That's it!" Cody tackles Rex against a wall as they both start to fight.
Rex ducks down and around Cody to pull him into a headlock from behind. Cody grabs onto the arm around his neck and throws Rex over his shoulder and onto the floor. The air is knocked out of his lungs as he sees Cody go to punch him. Rex uses a block technique to protect himself. He tries his best to counter attack with punches to Cody's side. They yell over each other, so it's difficult to tell what they are saying, but Rex curses a few times towards his brother.
Everyone watches and gasps at the sight. Anakin looks around the room to see Stutter standing not too far away with a frightened look on his face as he struggles to keep his tears back. Anakin runs over to him to comfort him, holding him close and making him look away from the fight.
He is only four years old and arrived at the castle a year ago. He was abused by his Father and older brothers for three years. They were all ten years old, so they always looked bigger and scarier in Stutters eyes as they yelled nasty and hurtful things at him.
Anakin feels Stutter start to shake with fear and anxiety as he starts to remember the trauma from his past. Anakin can't stand this anymore, someone has to do something to stop Rex and Cody from fighting. "Obi Wan!"
Obi Wan hears Anakin call out his name, knowing too that this has to be stopped. He runs over to try his best to break up the fight by pulling his boyfriend off of Rex. Cody struggles in Obi Wan's grasp that he has around him. Obi Wan decides to get in the middle of the two fighting brothers "Enough!! Both of you, just stop! You're scaring Stutter."
Rex and Cody pause and then look towards Anakin who is still holding onto the trembling four year old. Rex feels so bad now for things getting so out of hand. "I…" Rex decides to walk over to Stutter who doesn't seem to be calming down. Anakin uses his eyes to gesture down at Stutter, who is pressing his little body into him, and then back up to Rex, making Rex crouch down in front of them both. "I'm so, so sorry, Stutter." He says quietly so as not to scare him any more than he already has.
Stutter sniffles some, still pressing himself into Anakin. Rex rubs the back of his neck in guilt over what he has done.
Anakin decides to try and calm Stutter down. "Hey, it's alright. You're safe here. No one is going to hurt you. We're all here for you, including Rex." There was no movement for a moment until Stutter pulled away to look up at Anakin who smiles reassuringly down at him.
Stutter sniffles in response and turns around to see Rex with a nervous smile, hoping that Stutter understands that he is in a safe environment now and that Rex hadn’t meant to scare him. Stutter walks towards Rex and gives him a hug. Rex wraps his arms around his little brother. "I'm sorry, Vod'ika."
"I-It's okay, O-O-Ori'Vod." He can't help but cry a little bit more into Rex, creating a little damp patch on his shirt, but he doesn't mind it one bit. All that matters is that Stutter is safe now. Rex still feels so bad for scaring his Vod’ika, especially knowing about his past. Rex and his family absolutely hate Stutter's “Family”, they promised that they won't let them hurt him anymore, and that's a promise they intend to keep.
"Shh, it's okay now. It's okay…" Rex whispers as he places a kiss on top of Stutter's head, holding him close to him. Rex swears that he will never hurt Stutter like this ever again, he can’t stand to hurt his Vod’ika.
Obi Wan has calmed Cody down now too, giving him a quick, loving kiss on the lips before they walk over towards the crowd.
Everyone is glad that everything has calmed down now. Rex lets go of Stutter, looking around to see everyone staring at him. He feels so bad and embarrassed that he runs out of the room, heading up the stairs and into his room. He jumps on his bed and presses his face into his pillow, hot tears of embarrassment and regret wetting it.
xxx
It's been an hour since the fight and Cody is sitting in a chair, quietly thinking. He doesn’t know what to do, he tried talking to his older cousins, Fox and Thorn, both two years older than him. They told him that the way he had handled the situation was wrong and so did his uncle 99, his uncle said that he should go talk to Rex, but Cody doesn’t know if Rex would want to talk to him.
“Cody?” He turns to see Obi Wan and Knight Plo, Wolffe, Sinker, Boost and Comet’s adopted father, walk in.
“Obi Wan, Knight Plo. do you two need something?” They both look at eachother.
“You do know that you have to talk to him at some point, right Cody?” Cody sighs in frustration.
“I know, but what do I even say. I don’t know what to do this time Obi Wan, I’ve really messed things up. My dad would have handled the situation so much better than me.” Plo places a hand on Cody’s shoulder, who looks up at him.
“I know that it's hard Cody, you’re only a young man yourself. But Rex needs you right now, I can feel it in the force. Take it from me, even grown adults make mistakes.” Cody nods, and Obi Wan walks over. He grabs Cody’s hand, pressing his lips to his fingers, then to Cody’s forehead.
“He needs you, he’s hurting and he needs his big brother.”
Cody sighs nodding again, he stands up out of his chair. “You’re right, thanks sweetheart. Knight Plo.” Plo nods, Cody thinks he’s smiling, but can’t be sure because of the mask.
“You can just call me Plo, we’re family after all.” Cody nods, heading to try to make amends with his Vod’ika.
When he reaches Rex's room, he's about to knock on the door when he hears a few sniffles from the other side. "Rex?" It suddenly goes quiet on the other side and there's no response. "Rex'ika, it's me...can I please come in?"
He's about to walk away, but he finally gets a response. "Come in." Rex's voice was slightly muffled, but it was clear enough for Cody to understand and enters his little Brother's room.
Cody sees Rex laying down on his back on his bed, his right arm draped over his eyes, not wanting to even spare a glance at Cody. "I've come to apologise for my actions earlier. I shouldn't have started that fight. I'm sorry." He apologises, sitting down on the bed. Nothing. "Please, Rex. Just look at me."
Reluctantly, Rex removes his arm from his face and sits up, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. He looks a mess. His eyes are red and his nose is a little runny from crying regretful tears into his pillow. Cody goes to fetch Rex a tissue and brings it back, handing it to him. "Thank you." He wipes his nose, still a bit sniffly. "I'm sorry too, it was my fault. My day just got worse and worse, then it was all too much to handle anymore and now I've ruined Christmas. And I made Stutter cry. After all he went through before we took him in, I brought back all of those traumatic memories and-" he chokes back a sob. "And I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for being so selfish." He puts his head in his hands, huffing a deep breath out trying to stop the tears from coming back.
"Oh Rex'ika. It's alright, you haven't ruined Christmas. We all have bad days, so I understand now that you were probably just stressed, right?" Rex nods in response, not wanting to look up. "C'mere."
Rex gets pulled into a hug, feeling Cody trap him in a comforting embrace. He relaxes into his Ori'vod's arms, still having regretful thoughts racing throughout his mind. "I'm so sorry, Bubby."
"It's alright. I love you, Rex'ika. No matter what, I'll always be here for you."
"Thank you. I love you too." Rex smiles as he sits up a little, giving Cody a Keldabe kiss.
"Are you ready to go back down now?" Cody doesn't want to force Rex to do something he doesn't want to, but he also knows that staying in his room for the rest of the night isn't going to do him any good.
Rex sits quietly for a few moments, thinking quietly to himself. "Yeah. Could you go down with me?"
"Of course." Cody smiles at his Vod'ika.
"Thank you, Bubby." Rex smiles in return.
"You're welcome. That's what brothers are for." He gives Rex a little nudge and a playful wink as they both stand up and head out of his room into the corridor, walking towards the ballroom to meet again with everyone else.

Description: Obi-Wan Kenobi. A renowned Jedi Master across the galaxy. A prized General in the Republic. But to you, he was just a shy boy with eyes as endless as the ocean.
Word count: 2.2k
Warnings: mentions of death, mentions of slavery (SW canon), angst, some fluff
A/N: Hey everyone! I am back!! This took me FOREVER to finish mostly because I was adjusting to school being back in session and being back on campus. Anyways, I am happy to finally be posting this because i feel like i’ve been almost done for the longest lol. Hope y’all enjoy this!
If y’all want to you should listen to “seven” by Taylor Swift for this! It was a huge inspiration (especially the part where she sings about a braid… because… padawans have their braid… ok i’ll go)

“I don’t think this is such a good idea,” you say. You’re trying your best to keep up with Aayla Secura, Jedi Master, and one of your best friends. Even though you two hadn’t spent your padawan years together, Aayla is one of the Jedi you were closest to. Having spent almost your entire Jedi years away from Coruscant, Aayla is one of the only constants in your life. You first met the younger Jedi when she traveled to a planet on the Outer Rim to join you on a mission. Since that mission, both of you have made sure to work together in as many missions as possible. You loved spending time with her, and after having spent countless rotations without seeing her, you are especially happy to see her. Except for this moment in time.
“Nonsense! You haven’t been back in Coruscant in years! Everyone needs to know you’re here.” Aayla grabs your hand and pulls you closer to her, guiding you quickly down the halls of the Temple and into what you know will surely be your doom.
You’re not sure where your friend is taking you, but as you keep walking, a feeling of dread starts to settle in your stomach. You start to feel a familiar pull in the Force, a pull that you thought you’d never feel again.
-
You sit on a bench outside the Jedi temple. Your limbs are sore after all the training for the day. As a newly appointed padawan, you are still getting used to the schedule your new master has you on. Today consisted of grueling physical drills. After a week of meditation training, the physical training was a welcome change of pace, but you are now suffering the consequences of such a change.
After the training ended, your master allowed you to return to your quarters for the day. Instead of going straight back, however, you decided to take a walk outside the temple to catch some fresh evening air. So here you sit, on a bench in the temple gardens, massaging your sore shoulder in hopes of easing some of the discomfort.
You sit in comfortable silence for a while when you hear noise coming from behind some large bushes. You look up to said bushes, trying to see if you catch anything. Your master had been teaching you about reading Force signatures earlier in the week, but you don’t pick up anything tangible. After a few moments, you hear the sounds again. This time, you can decipher the sound of a thud followed by frustrated sighs and mumbling. You decide to get up and investigate, your curiosity getting the best of you.
You walk behind the bush to find a fellow padawan trying to float upside down while keeping his legs crossed and under (on top?) of him. You can see his form is off, and you notice the visible shakiness going through him as he closes his eyes and silently mumbles to himself. You keep watching him for a few moments until he suddenly falls out of his position and onto the floor. He quickly scrambles up, dusting his robes off in visible frustration. It’s not until he looks up that he notices you looking at him.
“Umm... hello there,” the young man says.
Your cheeks heat up in embarrassment of being caught spying. You quickly scramble up an answer.
“Hi. I wasn’t spying you know.” You mentally curse yourself at the obviously flustered response.
“Right. Well, I’m sorry you had to see that.” He mumbles the last half, looking down and dusting his robes in discomfort.
“I’m Y/N, by the way,” you say as you move closer to him.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi, at your service,” he says and looks up at you. The two of you make eye contact and you feel your breath leave your body.
The bluest eyes you’ve ever seen capture you. You feel like you can’t look away from the eyes of a young man you just met. You feel a tug towards him, but you can’t exactly describe what the tug is. You only know that you feel like you’ve known Obi-Wan Kenobi your whole life.
“What... what were you doing behind the bushes?” You decide to break the silence, if only to prolong the time you have to look at him.
He laughs and averts his eyes, a ting of pink brushing his cheeks. “I was working on a new meditation drill my master taught me. Well, I guess it’s not new... I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while. As you can see, I haven’t been successful.” You can tell he’s embarrassed, as he keeps his eyes on anything but your direction. His hands are fidgeting at his side.
You hesitate, unsure how your proposal will sound, but ultimately decide it’s worth a shot. “I- I can help you out, if you’d like.”
He looks up. You’re trapped in the depth of his eyes once again, the pull you previously felt stronger now. You take a couple steps closer to him and continue.
“My master taught me a couple of breathing techniques that helped me out with this exercise. Here, let me show you.” You move to sit on the floor with your legs crossed, motioning for him to do the same. Obi-Wan sits next to you. At this distance, you can feel the warmth that radiates from Obi-Wan. At this distance, you can feel the pull get stronger and know that it’s a product of the Force. At this distance, you feel yourself get trapped inside Obi-Wan’s Force signature, warmth and safety the only words on your mind.
And that’s how it began. Weeks of practicing drills together turned into years of friendship with Obi-Wan Kenobi. You two trained almost daily together, offering comfort after difficult training sessions, confiding in each other secrets nobody else knew.  But that was then, and this is now, ten years later, with nothing but memories of those deep blue eyes.
-
Aayla pulls you into a room. You can only assume a meeting has just wrapped up, given the Jedi chatting. You recognize several faces of Jedi you’ve met throughout your missions. You nod and smile in acknowledgment to those you make eye contact with, but Aayla keeps on pulling you away before you get a chance to give a proper hello.
Aayla finally stops in front of three Jedi. You recognize Kit Fisto, and you’re sure the other Jedi is Luminara Unduli (you hadn’t had the chance of formally meeting her yet). The third figure looks up when you join the group. When you meet his eyes, it takes all your willpower not to gasp.
An ocean, deep and endless, captures you. The pull in the Force you’d been feeling since arriving at Coruscant is as intense as ever, awakening after being dormant for more than 10 years.
You don’t recognize his face. No, the face looking back at yours is not one you remember. Gone is the shy smile of the young man you met all that time ago. Gone is the excited expression of the young padawan you spent each and every day with. Gone is the eager innocence of the man you’d come to know and love.
Instead, the man you face is one who’s had to endure loss, as many other Jedi had due to the war. Years of fighting have taken a toll on this man, it’s evident through the lines surrounding his eyes and the grey hair around his temples. His face is hardened with years of experience as a Jedi, a Jedi who’s seen the true evil in the galaxy.
But his eyes. They’re the same eyes you’ve always known. And they offer the same warmth and safety they did when you first met Obi-Wan Kenobi all those years ago.
“Hello there.”
The rich voice with the unmistakable Coruscant accent breaks you away from your thoughts. You feel heat come up to your cheeks when you realize you’ve been staring.
“Hello Obi-Wan. It’s been too long.”
~
You stroll the gardens outside the temple, fingers grazing the various plants and flowers growing there. Memories flood your mind. Memories of when you first came to the temple as a youngling. Memories of exploring the temple’s secret passages as a young padawan. Memories of spending your day by Obi-Wan’s side, climbing trees, wrestling in the gardens after dark, gazing up at the night sky and speaking of all the places you’d explore as Jedi, places you promised to explore together.
You stop at a bench and take a seat, trying to clear your mind of moments long gone. Everything had changed after the sudden death of your master while on Er’Kit, a planet distraught by slavery. The loss of your master forced you to become a Jedi Knight suddenly and take over the number of missions assigned to them. What followed was change: you had a chance to travel the galaxy and make a difference in countless planets. But with that change came loss: you hadn’t been on Coruscant for more than ten years, losing the only home you ever knew, and with that the person you knew understood you like no other.
You feel a change in the Force before you hear him. Over the years you had grown skilled at noticing changes in Force signatures. The Force signature headed your way is unmistakable.
He takes a seat next to you, his cloak rustling against yours, his thigh a breath away from your own. The both of you sit in silence for some time, simply readjusting to be in each other’s presence after being apart for so long.
He decides to break the silence.
“When I heard you were coming back to Coruscant I didn’t believe it.”
You chuckle, keeping your eyes on the garden. “I didn’t either. The council had promised me countless times I could return only for something else to pop up.”
“Well there’s no better person than you to lead our efforts in freeing those in captivity. You always were so caring of others.”
You wait a heartbeat before turning to face him and notice he had been looking at you this entire time. Your eyes scan his face, taking him in, really taking all of him in, and looking for the man you had left behind all those years ago. You find him in the warmth of his eyes, present despite all the events the war had brought with it.
“I tried to come back. As much as I knew I needed to continue on the operation, I tried coming back. I need you to know that I tried to contact you, I tried to tell you how sorry I was for —“ You don’t realize you’re rambling, eyes beginning to water, until he puts a hand over yours and soothingly shushes you.
“Shhhh Y/N. You don’t have to explain yourself to me. I know. Naboo was a long time ago. You had no control over anything that happened.” His thumb is rubbing circles on your hand, sending chills and warmth through you.
“My only regret is that I wasn’t here with you when you needed it. If only I hadn’t been send on the mission to Er’Kit maybe—“
“Don’t do that to yourself.” One of his hands moves to wipe a tear off your cheek. “My love, you’ve been through so much yourself. I know I wasn’t there then. But I am here now. You’re here now. We’re here now, and that’s more than I could ever hope for.”
Your heart clenches at his words, emotions that had built up and that had been pushed down for years finally surfacing.
“You know, I almost didn’t recognize you,” you tell him. “Look at the man you’ve grown to be Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon would have been so proud.”
“Just as your master would have been proud of the person you’ve become. You’ve done so much for the people of the galaxy. Even if I wasn’t able to say it then, know that I’ve always been proud to know one of the best Jedi this galaxy has seen.”
“I’ve missed you.”
“As I have missed you, my darling.”
You can’t hold back anymore, so you lean in to hug him. Obi-Wan wraps his arms securely around you, enveloping you in his warmth and in his Force signature. Though its been too long since you’ve felt his embrace, it feels as if you’ve never left his side.
“I’ve always cared for you Obi,” you whisper into his shoulder. “Deeply.”
“I’ve never stopped thinking about you, my sweet. My life is a million times better with you in it. I’m glad you’re finally home.”
Home. You used to think the Jedi temple was home. But now you realize you’d been wrong. Home wasn’t a place for you, but a person.
He didn’t need to say it. His embrace, his warmth said it all. Let me be your home.
“I’m glad I’m home.”

But then gets sick” - interwebseriesfan24
Word Count: 2,470
A/N: Hope I encompassed everything, and hope you enjoy it!
Your name: submit What is this? document.getElementById("submit").addEventListener('click', function(){ walk(document.body, /\by\/n\b|\(y\/n\)/ig, document.getElementById("inputTxt").value); }); function walk(node, v, p){ var child, next; switch (node.nodeType){ case 1: // Element case 9: // Document case 11: // Document fragment child = node.firstChild; while (child){ next = child.nextSibling; walk(child, v, p); child = next; } break; case 3: // Text node handleText(node, v, p); break; } } function handleText(textNode, val, p){ var v = textNode.nodeValue; v = v.replace(val, p); textNode.nodeValue = v; }
You paced up and down the corridor anxiously as Anakin leaned against the wall. You were in the medical ward, nervously awaiting news about your Master, Luminara Unduli. She had mysteriously fainted earlier that day during training, her eyes rolling to the back of her head, and you immediately rushed her to the medical ward with the help of your friend, Anakin, and his master Obi-Wan.
“Relax, y/n.” Anakin tried to soothe you, his arms folded across his chest as he raised an eyebrow. “She’ll be okay.”
As you opened your mouth to respond, Obi-Wan quietly exited Luminara’s room and walked towards you and Anakin. You rushed up to him, your eyes wide as Anakin walked up behind you.
“Is she going to be okay?” you asked, and Obi-Wan nodded. Breathing a sigh of relief, you looked over your shoulder as Anakin gave you the ‘I told you so’ look.
“The droids are still trying to find out what exactly caused her to faint, but she’s awake now and they think she’ll be okay.” Obi-Wan explained, and you and Anakin listened intently. “But in the meantime, she will have to take some time to rest and recover. I will be overseeing your training.”
“Awesome.” Anakin remarked, and you grinned. “Now Obi-Wan has someone to yell at during training instead of me.”
You reached over and punched Anakin playfully as Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, shaking his head and smiling.
“Well, I think we’ve had enough excitement for today.” Obi-Wan rubbed his forehead. “We’ll continue training tomorrow. I’ll see the two of you tomorrow morning.”
“Thanks, Master.” the two of you chorused as you bowed, and Obi-Wan made his way down the corridor. Anakin turned to you with a mischievous grin, and you shook his head, already knowing what he was thinking.
“Oh come on, y/n.” Anakin groaned. “Obi-Wan rarely lets me have any breaks. Let’s do something fun.”
“I’m too tired.” you whined, and Anakin sighed.
“Fine. Let’s go back to your room then.”
As the two of you began walking, you marvelled at the Jedi Temple. You were still amazed at how you managed to get here. You had travelled to Coruscant with your mother, and the first place your mother brought you to was the Jedi Temple. She insisted that you meet a Jedi, and finally, Luminara volunteered to meet you. The minute she approached you, she could already feel that you were strong with the Force. She rushed you to the Jedi Temple, yet the other Jedi were unsure about what to do with you. Originally, they had planned just to send you back with your mother, but keeps tabs on you to see how you progressed. However, when Luminara escorted you back outside, your mother had disappeared. She had left with no trace. Not knowing what to do, the Jedi decided to train you instead of sending you back out onto the streets alone. It was unanimously agreed that Luminara would be your Master, seeing as she was the first Jedi you met.
You and Anakin had just left the medical wing when you heard someone call your names. Turning around, you heard Anakin sigh softly as the two of you realised it was Obi-Wan.
“Change of plan.” Obi-Wan jogged up, slightly out of breath. You and Anakin exchanged glances. “Anakin, I want you to prepare a squad of clone troopers and a ship for Utapau. y/n, you’re coming with me to get more details on the mission. We’ll meet up with Anakin later.”
Anakin didn’t hesitate to start running towards the man hangar, while you and Obi-Wan briskly began walking to one of the conferences rooms. Master Windu was inside with another clone  trooper. He looked up when you and Obi-Wan entered and waved the soldier aside, turning on a hologram.
“We believe he’s hiding out here.” Mace pointed at a section on the map, and Obi-Wan nodded. “His capture will be key in winning this war, so we have to move now.”
“Who are we talking about?” you piped up, and Mace glanced at Obi-Wan.
“You didn’t tell them?” Mace asked, and Obi-Wan shrugged. “Count Dooku.”
“Wait, and Anakin and I are going to help bring him in?” you spluttered. “Are we ready for that?”
“Sometimes life throws situations at you that you cannot be prepared for.” Obi-Wan looked at you, and you pressed your lips together. “Regardless if you are ready, we need all the help we can get.”
You nodded solemnly, not daring to ask anymore questions. Mace whispered something to Obi-Wan and he nodded, before Obi-Wan gestured for you to follow him into the main hangar, where you could see Anakin already waiting.
“You will be fine, y/n.” Obi-Wan grabbed your arm and said hurriedly, before you approached Anakin. “Do not let your worry consume you.”
“Yes, Master.” you replied quietly before boarding the ship. You sat down next to Anakin, who nudged you.
“So, what are we doing?”
“Bringing Count Dooku in.”
Anakin’s head snapped up, his eyes wide, before a grin passed over his face.
“It’s about time we take down that monster.” he leaned back, and you looked at him in surprise. He didn’t look nervous at all. Trying to stay calm, you took a deep breath, closed your eyes and leaned back with him.
“Is one padawan not enough for Obi-Wan?” Dooku jeered, leisurely spinning his lightsaber as he strolled along the platform. You tensed, gripping your lightsaber. Anakin was on the other side of the platform the two of you all defensively holding your lightsabers. You had gotten separated from Obi-Wan and the clone troopers you arrived with, who were fighting a droid army on the lower levels. You had caught site of Dooku disappearing into a hallway, and decided to chase after him instead of looking for Obi-Wan, and Anakin had followed you.
“We’re just so much fun to teach.” Anakin cautiously stepped closer.
“I don’t believe we’ve met.” Dooku chuckled at Anakin’s comment before turning to you.
“y/n.” you responded, a little timidly.
“y/n.” Dooku repeated, pointing his lightsaber at you. “Shame I have to kill you.”
Lunging towards you, you quickly backed away and raised your lightsaber to block Dooku’s strike. Anakin rushed forward, swinging his lightsaber. Anakin’s strikes were short and choppy, which Dooku easily blocked. He sliced at Anakin’s leg, scarring the flesh, and Anakin doubled over in pain before Dooku used the Force to slam him against the far wall. Scared, you backed up, and Dooku advanced.
“y/n, move forward!” Anakin yelled, but you felt as if you were gripped with fear. You weakly defended yourself, narrowly missing Dooku’s strikes. He finally knocked the lightsaber out of your hand and you fell backwards. You attempted to scramble away but Dooku suddenly raised his arm, and you felt your throat clench.
Gasping, you clawed at your neck, struggling to breath. You attempted to use the Force to push him back, but you couldn’t focus. You could hear Anakin yelling your name as he struggled to stand, but his voice became muffled and you saw the corner of your vision blacking out. Right when you thought all the oxygen was about to be sucked from you lungs, you saw Anakin limp over and strike Dooku across the back. He cried out in pain, releasing you, and you collapsed on the floor. Anakin hesitated, debating if he should chase after Dooku, but decided to stay with you. He put your head on his lap and held your face in his hands.
“y/n, stay awake.” he urged, but you had already passed out.
You awoke laying in your bed with Anakin sitting on the edge and Obi-Wan standing by the window with Mace. Anakin’s face lit up when you opened your eyes, and Obi-Wan and Mace turned around.
“How are you feeling, y/n?” Anakin asked as you slowly sat up, nervously running your hands through your hair.
“It was reckless of you to chase after Dooku alone.” Mace interrupted, folding his arms across his chest.
“They didn’t go alone.” Anakin tried to defend you, but Mace ignored him.
“Obi-Wan saw you run after him instead of staying by his side, like you should’ve.” Mace glared at you, and you looked down at your lap.
“I’m sorry.” you said in a small voice, but Mace shook his head.
“You almost got killed, and I have no doubt he would’ve killed Anakin too if he could.” Mace glanced at Obi-Wan, who looked away. “Until further notice, we’ll be delaying your training.”
“You can’t do that!” Anakin objected, and you looked up with wide eyes.
“Obi-Wan cannot take care of you both, so y/n will wait until Master Unduli recovers.” Mace continued, sighing loudly. “And don’t think I won’t be telling her about what you did.”
Mace and Obi-Wan left the room, leaving you and Anakin alone. You groaned loudly, turning over and burying your face into your pillow. Anakin flopped down beside you, crossing his arms.
“This isn’t fair.” he huffed. “You did all you could.”
“It doesn’t matter, Ani.” you sighed, your voice muffled into your bed.
“Let’s go out tonight.” Anakin piped up, and you rolled over to raise your eyebrows at him. “What? You need to unwind.”
“Fine.” you agreed, deciding there was nothing else to do. “Downtown Coruscant?”
“Meet you there.” Anakin nodded as he sat up and made his way out of your room to join Obi-Wan for more training.
You leaned against the bar, swirling your cup but not really drinking from it. You looked over your shoulder and looked at the doorway, and sighed when you didn’t see Anakin.
“He better not have forgotten.” you grumbled as you looked back down at your cup. You were about to leave when you heard a snippet of a conversation.
“He got delayed by these two padawans…”
Your head jerked up, and you saw what looked like two bounty hunters walk past you and sit at a nearby table. Grabbing your drink, you slowly moved closed, trying to appear inconspicuous.
“Where is he now?” one of the bounty hunters asked, and you sipped your drink. You were pretty sure they were talking about Count Dooku. A hand suddenly grabbed your shoulder, and you gasped loudly. You turned to see Anakin grinning at you, raising a glass. You shushed him and turned back around at the bounty hunters, who had briefly looked up at the two of you but continued their conversation.
“Geonosis.” the first one responded, and you turned back to Anakin.
“Did you hear that?” you hissed, and Anakin gave you a puzzled look as he sipped his drink. “Dooku is on Geonosis!”
“What?” Anakin spluttered, spitting his drink out as you jerked out the way. The two bounty hunters looked up again, and you rushed to shush him.
“Shut up!” you whispered. “Those two bounty hunters-”
“What about those two bounty hunters?” one of them suddenly appeared behind you, and you froze as Anakin’s eyes widened. He grabbed your shoulder and spun you around, and Anakin reached out and punched his face.
“Don’t touch them.” Anakin hissed, pulling you away. He reached for his lightsaber before you could stop him, and the bounty hunter grinned when he saw Anakin’s lightsaber.
“Don’t tell me you were the two padawans Dooku fought.” the bounty hunter laughed as he companion stood next to him. “Oh, we’re in for a treat.”
The two bounty hunters grabbed their blasters and fired as you and Anakin ducked behind a table. You tried to drag him towards the exit, but he lunged forward instead. He used the Force to push one of the bounty hunters back, but the other one shot his forearm. He dropped his lightsaber and the bounty hunter grabbed it. He looked at it, admiring it, before turning it on and putting it in front of Anakin’s neck.
“Drop it.” you yelled, turning on your lightsaber and stepping forward. “I said drop it!”
“Or what?” the bounty hunter scoffed. “I’ll slice your friend’s head off if you take one more step.”
You froze, uncertain about what to do. You saw the second bounty hunter stand up and raise her blaster, and you used the Force to snatch the weapon from her hand. Distracted, the first bounty hunter turned around, and you used the Force and shoved him backward. Running in front of Anakin, you grabbed a pair of handcuffs from your belt and moved towards the bounty hunters. Taking their weapons, you cuffed them to each other.
“You’re coming with me to the Jedi Temple.” you pulled them to their feet. “There are some things you’ve said tonight that I’m sure the other Jedi are interested in hearing.”
You sat outside the interrogation room with Anakin, who had a bandage wrapped around his arm. After what seemed like forever, Obi-Wan and Mace walked out, their expressions grave. The two of you scrambled to your feet, and Mace shook his head at Anakin’s injury.
“Disarmed by a bounty hunter.” Obi-Wan rubbed his forehead. “You’re getting sloppy, Anakin.”
“I-” Anakin tried to protest, but you jabbed him in the chest with your elbow to shut him up.
“Nevertheless,” Mace spoke up, his expression softening a little. “We have been able to locate Dooku now. Thank you for bringing these bounty hunters in, y/n.”
“I did what I had to, Master Windu.” you bowed slightly, and sheepishly looked up. “Does… does this mean I can continue training with Obi-Wan?”
“I’m afraid it’s still a no.” Obi-Wan replied after exchanging glances with Mace.
“What?” you gaped at them. “But I just helped you guys found out where Dooku is hiding!”
“Which we would not need to do if we had just captured him on Utapau.” Obi-Wan pointed out, and you faltered.
“Oh, come on.” you groaned, turning to Anakin for support. Pointing to his arm, you exclaimed, “I saved Anakin, that’s got to mean something!”
“Hey!” Anakin protested. “I had the situation under control.”
“Sure you did.” you snorted, and Obi-Wan suppressed a smile.
“If you would’ve let me finish, y/n,” Obi-Wan piped up, and you could see Mace smiling slightly. “You don’t be continuing training with me, because Master Unduli insists she has completely recovered and wants to continue training with you. You start tomorrow.”
“Oh.” you said quietly, and Anakin burst out laughing and you shot him a glare. “Thank you, Masters.”
“Not a problem.” Obi-Wan smiled, his eyes glittering. “Good luck with your training, y/n.”
