okay fine I'll be honest. I don't remember who Ajit Dayal is at all. I remember that they went to see him before! and that he taught at a school! but uhhhhhh. I don't know who this man is. sorry to this man

I have but one regret about the latest episode and that is that the party was so drained they couldn't smoke Otohan because genuinely I don't think she's nearly as powerful as she's been built up to be. The first fight was on an extremely drained L7 party (and as discussed had some messy signalling to boot). Keyleth still had a decent amout of HP left when Vax showed up, it was a one-on-one fight, and she had to be power word stunned by Ludinus first anyway. Derrig falls under the "for plot reasons, this needs to have happened" umbrella, the Lumas twins and Will were all presumably pretty low level, and Oshad Breshio and Eshteross were each effectively alone. Seven 12th level characters while relatively fresh? I think they could turn that personality-less dunamancy-flavored Monster addict into paste.

One word prompt: pause

imogen was glorious, holding her own before the most powerful people in the world. she was gorgeous and glorious and strange. to herself, from herself.

‘that’s probably why he was staring at us. because storm lord, storm powers.’

‘yeah. yeah,’ imogen muttered with a quick smile. ‘that’s probably it.’

it had nothing to do with profound distrust or the inhuman recognition of the inhuman in imogen, surely. laudna watched imogen watch the earthbreaker stride back to his small battalion of warriors. her eyes lingered, burned. then they met laudna’s and imogen seemed to pause before the burning gave way to only warmth.

‘hey, honey. done talking to the voice?’

laudna nodded. her fingers twisted, knotted together.

fearne waggled her eyebrows at them. ‘how was last night? the manor is so romantic, isn’t it?’

imogen conjured a little laugh, a little blush. enough to make fearne coo at them, teasing, and turn tail to give them a moment alone. laudna watched it happen and tried to pair the blush with the quiet night they’d had, laying untouching side by side. imogen hadn’t slept much and had said less.

‘we didn’t do anything,’ laudna whispered.

imogen shook her head with another laugh. ‘she doesn’t need to know that.’

‘we didn’t do anything.’

‘i know. do you want me to tell her that?’ imogen asked quietly, laugh falling away to a mild frown. her eyes drifted sidelong, mind drifted sidelong against laudna’s. laudna wished she would look within—maybe she could explain laudna’s thoughts to her. all she knew was that it was filled with hungry shadows and visions of the red storm, and imogen. ‘laud?’ imogen touched her cheek gently. from her tone, it wasn’t the first time she had called laudna’s name.

‘i’m alright, darling.’

‘that’s why you’re pulling your hair out? because you’re alright?’ imogen’s frown softened. ‘cmon, let’s get out of the sun.’

she guided laudna to a spot of shade against the wall of the fort. at a pointed glare, a nearby guard jumped to their feet and carried over a bucket with a crisp salute and ‘ma’am!’ they hurried away just as fast and imogen overturned the bucket, sat laudna down upon it.

the shade was blissful. after the dark damp of morrigan’s fane, the desert was so harsh. brutal sunlight burned down onto laudna’s pale skin. and everywhere she looked it was a vision of death and blood, pale faces drawn in nerves and painted red by the light of the moon.

‘close your eyes,’ imogen told her, crouching beside her. ‘it’s okay. don’t look.’

laudna clamped her eyes shut. ‘the red…’

‘i know.’

‘it’s like your old dreams. the red and the sand.’

‘yeah.’

‘and all of these souls… what if they’re like dear old bertrand? the lumas twins? what if all of them are claimed by the moon?’

imogen’s hands tightened on laudna’s. ‘that’d be pretty awful, huh?’

laudna didn’t answer for a long moment. the silence stretched, a strained tendon. she didn’t dare open her eyes. all she wanted was quiet and dark and imogen.

‘i’m here,’ imogen murmured.

laudna felt her hands being moved and peeked down through dark lashes to see imogen lift one of her hands, press her lips to it. laudna’s sharp inhale was almost a gasp and it drew imogen’s gaze upward. her lips drew up in a bright, sharp smile. the corner of her mouth was thin, pulled long by her smile. laudna touched a trembling finger to imogen’s cheek, just shy of her mouth.

‘beautiful,’ she whispered. then, unable to keep the words back any longer, ‘don’t leave me.’

imogen’s smile flickered. ‘why would i—‘

‘you can fool the others but you can’t fool me. something happened when you gave in.’

‘laudna.’

‘no please, let me finish.’ she gathered imogen’s hand up. ‘i know what it feels like, i know.’

‘no. you don’t.’ imogen yanked her hand free and shoved up to her feet. ‘i’m fine,’ she assured her, eyes elsewhere, already looking for where she could go, anywhere to get away from this conversation. orym stood at the other end of the fort, filling water canteens with ashton’s help. imogen started toward him—only to stop when laudna wrapped a hand around her wrist.

‘let me go.’

‘it felt good,’ laudna said, voice low. ‘safe. it felt like you were hardly there, that predathos was holding you so tight you could hardly breathe and it was wonderful because he could keep you so safe if anything happened, if anything scared you, hurt you. it felt good because no one has ever wanted you that much.’ imogen tried to pull her hand away. with uncommon strength, laudna held tight. ‘he made you feel powerful, welcome, special. he showed you that you are already all those things, that he sees that in you. he showed you how l-‘ laudna stopped, voice cracking. after a moment, she pressed on. ‘he showed you how lonely you are. that he doesn’t see you as a monster. you aren’t scary with him. you aren’t freakish or dangerous. you belong with him.’

imogen was panting now, eyes wide. she turned to face laudna, who spoke quick and quiet as though she only had a few seconds to speak, a few seconds before something would stop her. or someone.

‘you’re wrong.’

‘no.’

‘i’m not weak,’ imogen spat, not seeing laudna’s flinch. ‘he can tell me whatever he wants, i know what is true. what is right.’

laudna clenched her jaw. the planes of her face went hard as marble, eyes stern. her voice wavered then went harsh. ‘you are weak, imogen.’

the shock of the words made imogen pause, jaw dropping.

‘w-what?’

‘you have a weakness, and he will exploit it. that is what they do. you have been a stranger to everyone in your life. you have been in pain for a decade. you are scarred all over and so powerful it scares people. your mother left, your father ignored you, and no one else could come close because it hurt—‘

‘stop it.’

‘you have spent years wanting to get as far away as you could, somewhere without awful people, somewhere you could just be. it is a terribly strong lure, to feel that you might be able to be around others like you. no longer the odd one out. to find joy in who you are, not pain.’

‘stop it!’ imogen snapped. ‘it doesn’t matter what he offers me, ‘cause i ain’t taking it. and if you felt so damn strong about this, you should’ve said somethin’ before i dreamed last night.’

the stone in laudna’s face cracked, crumbled. ‘yes,’ she whispered. ‘i should have.’

‘good, well, it’s too late.’ imogen wrenched free, successfully this time. she rubbed her wrist where laudna had held her. the grip hadn’t been tight nor painful but something in the closeness now made her skin crawl. her eyes dragged up to the moon hanging overhead; when she refocused on laudna, she was met with a look of understanding.

‘i want you to make your choices. i will follow, whatever you choose—‘

‘no.’

laudna stuttered to a stop. ‘no?’

‘i don’t want to make the choices for you. you have to figure out what is right, laudna! you aren’t her! and you sure as hell aren’t me. stop giving into her and start thinking about what is right for once! make a choice!’

‘i choose you—‘

‘choose yourself,’ imogen snapped. sucked in a breath as she heard the sharpness of her tone, saw the way laudna’s certainty wavered and she began to fold into herself once more. ‘choose yourself,’ she said again, more calmly. ‘i love you. i went to the ends of the world and beyond to get you back, ripped you out of her tree, so that you could live your life, not hers.’

‘i know.’

‘good. so just focus on keepin’ her out and doing what we came here to do and it’ll all work out.’

laudna pursed her lips with a tiny frown. ‘i- i should have said something earlier. i’m so sorry, darling. i want you to feel at home. loved. but…’ she swallowed harshly, then held her hand toward imogen. she didn’t grab at her, nor move closer. ‘predathos doesn’t love you.’

imogen laughed, sound harsh. ‘i know that.’

‘do you?’

it was too hard to meet laudna’s eyes. something in her still pulled, yearned, for the moon. imogen knew the moment her feet landed on the moon that she would feel more at home than she ever had. that the weight of the world would lift that small amount, that gravity would right itself around her. she didn’t know how she could come back to exandria after, knowing that.

‘whatever he says to you, whatever he offers,’ laudna continued when imogen said nothing, ‘tell me. i will spend the rest of my life trying to give it to you,’ she vowed. ‘you will never owe me anything. it will be the joy of my life to - to love you. to build a home with you, away from the world, away from everyone else.’

‘and safe?’ imogen whispered. ‘can you promise we’ll be safe?’

laudna lowered her eyes. ‘no.’

‘no. that’s what i thought.’

‘but he can’t keep you safe either.’

‘i dunno, laud. he felt… powerful. it felt like nothing could touch me there.’

‘perhaps nothing could,’ laudna agreed. her hand was still outstretched, unwavering, though imogen had not yet taken it. ‘that sounds terribly lonely, darling.’

imogen shook her head. ‘he was everywhere. i’d never be alone.’

the words struck laudna. she looked sickened, and for an instant her hand trembled. she kept from snatching at imogen, barely.

‘it isn’t what it’s cracked up to be,’ she whispered. ‘you lose track. of your own voice. yourself.’

‘it wouldn’t be like that.’

‘you wouldn’t even feel it happen.’

imogen bowed her head. the sun had shifted overhead, the day straining to press on against the weight of the moon. the shade they had stood in was being eaten up. soon, there would be nothing left of it at all.

she reached out. took laudna’s hand.

‘before we get there, while i’m still myself. bring me back.’ her grip tightened. it must have been painful. laudna held her as tight, nails digging into imogen’s skin. ‘i might scream or fight. i might not want to come back. but.’ her throat tightened, something in her already fighting the words. ‘this is my home. you. exandria. bring me home. whatever it takes.’

laudna nodded. stepped in, pressing her cool forehead to imogen’s. ‘a tether.’

‘my tether.’

‘my whole world,’ laudna murmured.

the words didn’t quite touch her. imogen could still feel the lure, the pull, the feeling of belonging and home just out of reach. she could feel it burrowing beneath her skin to hollow her out and for a moment she could see past the haze of red sand and static and knew that laudna was right. the clarity wouldn’t last long.

she kissed laudna there, for anyone to see. her lips were chapped but laudna didn’t complain, only kissed her sweetly and gently. there was such a look of surprise and adoration when she pulled back that for a second imogen felt it. home.

‘he can’t have me,’ imogen promised, voice edged with a sandstorm growl. ‘better halves. i’m already whole.’

the animated intro goes so fucking hard. the lumas twins, bertrand and eshteross walking into the storm. imogen falling to ashton plummeting to the ground transition. will and derrig turning into flower petals. that glimpse of delilah puppeting laudna. “from the healer to the renegade” over a shot of fcg’s old crew dead/unconscious reflected in their red lens. transitioning from laudna alone against the trauma looping nightmare’s corrupted sun tree to all the hells sleeping under the sun tree in whitestone post resurrection. sick shots of everyone’s powers. fearne pick pocketing ashton. mister with a gun. it’s so fucking cool i feel like i notice something new on each rewatch i’m OBSESSED

Also appreciating that Matt semi-cleared up Imogen's early visions of death in her Ruidus dreams on Cooldown.

Apparently she got Bertrand's because she was close/connected to him but he died out of sight.

The Lumas twins were still kind of hand wavey. But justified as Imogen's burgeoning psychic abilities catching visions and shit.

uhhh- first off!!! The twins! Yes, another set, I like making twins, sue me

(Also its raining SO hard rn and I'm so happy)

anyway, Morning glory and Moonflower!! Or Glory and Datura, as they're usually called. They're the 2nd youngest set of siblings in the third generation! Only older then Venus, Mars, and uh- listen i read the names once im.not very good at retaining knowledge

Glory is defiently the more extroverted of the two. She looks up to her siblings, and loves to play with them. Eccpecially giving them little makeovers (which usually ar exist her putting stickers on their face and scribbling red marker like blush, but yknow, shes got the spirit) he eccpecially loves when Lune does his makeup. He likes feeling pretty. Sbe also really enjoys bright colors, and her favorite color is rainbow! Though he's a bit impartial to pink! She's also very energetic, probaly one of the most energetic out of her siblings, but she always knows how to calm herself down for her twin brother. Her favorite stuffed animal is also because it reminded her of Datura!!

(Also nvm im not happy anymore the storm is giving me a headache)

Datura however is the much more shy and introverted of the two. He is very reserved, calm, and quiet. He loves to read, and started reading full on chapter books at a pretty young age. He has social anxeity, and really opens up around Glory and a few others of his siblings. He also really admires Chica, but is too scared to talk to her. He also realized he was a boy pretty young, as he really didn't like when people would call him a girl and treat him like one, and he always felt quite a bit different from his sister. He takes after sun, ftm <3. Though he takes after moon in most other regards.

Aaannndd- yeah!! I love these two tbh. I love their designs, eccpecialy Glory's, and I think they're really sweet. Also I like their names.

And now to the other child i made! Thats right! I made a third one! I did all of this yesterday btw I was on the roll-

This is Luna Moth!! Or Luma, for short. (Also im changing their pronouns maybe to she/they) they're only a few years older then Datura and Glory

They're the family theatre kid, and likes putting on plays and puppet shows and just generally preforming for the kids in the daycare, as well as for the triplets. They like older musicals and theatre rather than new ones, but im not gonna name any cause I havnt watched any!!!! (Not Broadway ones at least) but idk they probaly like Shakespeare phantom of the opera and stuff

The drawing to the left is more of what they wear casually, outside of the daycare. Also I havnt decided if the antennas are part of them or the hats, though I'm probaly gonna do it wear its part of them.

It's safe to say I am losing my mind over the new animated intro. There's something so satisfying abt seeing these characters I love so much animated in such a truly beautiful way and all the little moments had me gushing over them even more.

That being said i just HAD to make a little scene by scene 'review' of everything on 0.25 speed.

(I didn't want to go over tumblr's stupid number of images rule and there was so much I know i've missed some stuff so you're welcome to reblog with your favorite moments if i missed them, I tried to narrow it down as much as i could and even then this is still gonna have 2-3 parts for sure.)

My Scene-by-Scene of the new intro (part 1)

- We start off with the legend himself, had to put this in bc I love seeing how they honor matt in things like this and it's always fun to find his little cameos + we get to have a look at some of his amazing npcs

- starting off with some allies, Xandis and Ira, who both look just as cool as I imagined

- i love NK's whole design, he looks real svelte + his little shark teeth freak me out which is great

- Xandis is real hot surprising no one... i want them back 🥺

- We get into the villains now with Otohan, Lilliana and Ludy boy

- I love that lud gets like, half a second screentime, he'd be APALLED

- otohan and lilliana!!!!! (Kinda want them to step on me but be nice to bells hells pls)

- writing this i sort of realize that i'm 1000% more scared of otohan than lulu which is kind of funny but also totally justified since the last time we saw her it was like- the worst day of my life

- this made me tear up!!

So, from the beginning of the new intro!

Matt creating the terrain (the Key, what looks like Ludinus' tower in Molaesmyr) and the appearance of Liliana, Ludinus, Ira Wendigoth, Captain Xandis, and Otohan Thull before the shot pans out to the Feywild Arch...

Nothing specific in Fearne's intro though it might represent her passing through the Arch into Exandria

Orym's shows Derrig sitting under the cherry tree while Will is beside Orym, moving through the Zephaer'atam - Will and Orym are using identical swords (barring length)

Imogen's shows Bertrand, the Lumas twins, and Lord Eshteross fading into the storm before she turns, runs, and plummets into...

Ashton falling from the window of Jiana Hexum's manor (we see him pre-injury but post-"hardening")

The group on the deck of the Silver Sun, we now see Ash with two different colour eyes -- as they fall overboard, Ashton grabs Laudna and flings her at Imogen, while FCG casts Fly (or something along those lines), and Fearne transforms into a bird and catches Ashton on her back (we don't see if FCG catches Orym or Chetney)

When the Hells are in the Feywild, Fearne has her pan flute, and we see her blackened left hand (a result of her grabbing Lolth's Crown during ExU)

During Laudna's intro, we get a brief flash of Delilah puppeting a Laudna doll the way Laudna is puppeting Pate in the shot

During FCG's shot, in the close-up on his red-tinted eyes, we see the Division lying massacred, with the buzzsaw and the grappling hook arm on the ground - as the shot pulls back, we see FCG swinging the buzzsaw at Ashton before we see the rest of the Hells surround him, Orym restraining him (with Seedling, slight continuity error there but appropriate), Chetney's unfinished mood wheel on the table behind them... and then Fearne pickpockets Ashton while everyone's focused on FCG

Chetney is carving a rocking horse, and we clearly see his RTA crown tattoo

In the group attack shot -- a wolfed-out Chet is using his Crimson Rite to claw through vines -- Fearne summons Mister who has his little firearm before she blowtorches everything -- Ashton's arm gets sliced and he rages -- FCG grapplehooks his way into combat and swings around, his Spiritual Weapon taking the shape of the Changebringer's coin -- Ashton apparently rolled Time because we see his dopplered selves appearing off him (it MIGHT just be a coincidence, but the blue-shift version looks like an uninjured stone Asthon, while the red-shift version looks like a HUMAN Ashton) before Ashton drops the hammer on a pair of Paragon's Call riding a crawler and blows it up -- Laudna's newer form of Dread appears with branches and flowers, while Imogen flings lightning around -- Orym goes toe to toe with several of Otohan Thull's echoes (including him Air Striking some into nothingness) before he blocks the REAL Thull's attack

Thull knocks him back into Ashton and FCG, who catch him

also i just noticed i have polls now

wario's real name is wallace. people started calling him wario as a joke after realizing how much he resembled mario. wallace was super annoyed at first, but now he's mildly amused by the whole thing.

likewise, waluigi's real name is michael. when wario first mentioned he had a younger twin, people started joking that his brother's name was waluigi. michael found it pretty funny from the get-go, and started leaning into the joke.

super crowns are used as a symbol of status in the mario universe. because of this, the royalty only appear human while wearing their crowns. peach is actually a toad, daisy is actually a piranha plant, and rosalina is actually a luma.

bowser and bowser junior are a subspecies of koopa known as a fire koopa. while rare, fire koopas aren't exclusively nobles/royalty, and vice versa.

bowser junior was conceived from a one night stand, and left on the castle doorstep in the middle of the night. a dna test confirmed he was bowser's kid, but they couldn't find his biological mother.

the koopalings aren't legally bowser's children, but he's basically adopted them anyway. most of them come from rough homes, and the others dont come from homes at all. bowser looked at these struggling kids, and his fatherly instincts kicked in and he essentially said "mine now"

the "stork" isn't actually how babies are conceived in the mushroom kingdom, it's just an adoption service.

mario and luigi were born in the mushroom kingdom. their (adoptive) parents (born in italy) took them to brooklyn after the shroob invasion, and they grew up not knowing about the mushroom kingdom. they only found out their origins upon coming to the mushroom kingdom years later, and being recognized by their old babysitter, toadsworth.

mario and luigi's birth parents were from new donk city.

mario's favorite food is spaghetti, and luigi teases him relentlessly for being an italian stereotype.

peach is actually closeted aroace. she's a very physically affectionate person (ie cheek kisses and hugs), and bakes cakes for her friends a lot. she didn't realize that that accidentally sent romantic signals to mario until much later, and has no idea how to clear things up without outing herself (she's not ready to come out yet) now that everyone seems to think they're an item.

peach almost ditching mario on the moon was due to the fact that she was panicking about potentially being outed, and therefore didn't realize he wasn't on the ship (she didn't find out she almost left mario there until later, and she profusely apologized when he told her)

bowser's parents died when he was really young (like, infant young), and he was raised by kammy and kamek. he refers to them as his parents sometimes.

likewise, peach was raised by toadsworth.

peach is actually the queen of the mushroom kingdom, but she likes the alliteration of "princess peach", so she uses that as her title.

rosalina still refers to herself as a princess because she hasn't finished grieving for her mother yet, and doesn't want to feel like she's replacing her.

unlike the other royalty, daisy's parents are alive and well, which is why she still has the title of princess.

kammy and kamek are in a long-term queerplatonic relationship.

mario doesn't start dating pauline until after peach eventually comes out of the closet.

luigi is crushing super hard on prince peasley, but he's too awkward to say anything, and peasley has some self esteem issues that lead him to believe that luigi is only fawning over him because he's the prince, so doesn't realize luigi has a crush. mario keeps trying to matchmake the two, and is super frustrated that none of his attempts are working, despite that fact that they're obviously into each other

wario and waluigi care about each other a lot, but that doesn't stop them from having some extreme sibling rivalry. they would absolutely beat the shit out of each other for the last cookie, then be chilling and watching tv together not 10 minutes later. the cain instinct is strong with these two.

not too long after the incident on the moon, daisy decides she's had enough of bowsers shit, and beats him up while still wearing a dress and high heels. bowser stops going after peach, but its not so much because he's scared of daisy so much as it is that he's incredibly impressed by her and wants to get on her good side because he may or may not have developed a crush.

bowser and daisy do eventually start dating.

I was looking at some posts on tumblr, so I decided to do it too, after all I'm a big fan of Mario.

Here is the first part of the introduction of the characters in my Mario AU.

Mario Mario | Plumber and hero of the mushroom kingdom, Luigi's twin brother. Love interest: Peach Toadstool (Sometimes Geno or Pauline)

Luigi Mario | Plumber and hero of the mushroom kingdom, but he is best known in Sarasaland, Mario's twin brother. Love interest: Daisy Floral (Sometimes Peasley)

Peach Toadstool | Housekeeper of the mushroom kingdom, adopted daughter of Toadworth. Love interest: Mario Mario

Daisy Floral | princess of Sarasaland, will be the future queen of her kingdom, BFF of princess Peach. Love interest: Luigi Mario

Rosalina | Guardian of the Galaxy and mother figure of the Lumas. Love interest: Waluigi

Pauline | Mayor of Metro Kingdom, famous singer and old friend of Mario and Luigi. Love interest: Sometimes Mario, but in the near future Haru.

Yoshi | Best friend and companion of the Mario brothers, also as a hero of his land Yoshi Island. Love interest: Birdetta

Birdetta | Former villain of the Mario gang. Love interest: Yoshi

Toad | An adventurer always looking for new power-ups and according to him, Mario's "best friend".

Wario | Mario's rival and Waluigi's partner, he can also be known as an old "servant" of Tatanga.

Waluigi | Luigi's rival and Wario's partner. Love interest: Rosalina

Bowser Koopa | Evil king of the Darklands and father of 8 children, adopted son of Kamek. Love interest: Sheila (Only when I'm with @marioandsonicfangirl793-art)

Kamek koopa | Royal Magikoopa of the Darklands, Bowser's adoptive father.
