Lucius knew something was wrong almost as soon as they hit land. He seemed to know his way around this port already, though the reason why didn’t hit him until he and the crew found their way into the liveliest bar facing the ocean. “Shit.” He hissed, ducking quickly behind the first person he could lay his hands on, gripping their shoulders. “Don’t let those guys see me.” He hissed, peeking over their shoulder to see if he’d been spotted yet. He thought he’d be able to avoid running into anyone from his past during his time on The Revenge, but they seemed to have drifted into one of his old haunts. Maybe he should have been paying more attention to where the hell they were sailing to. It hadn’t really mattered until now, though.

As we come to the end of the season and look to the future, a couple of important thoughts:

First, BE LOUD about what you want from this show! Got something you want to see in the Gentlebeard relationship arc? Talk about it! Want to see what married life looks like for Lucius and Pete? Talk about it! Want more from the Jim/Archie/Olu/Zheng polycule? Talk about it! Want to see more Fang stealing the spotlight, Frenchie running cons, Wee John in drag, and Roach’s full self care routine? Talk about it!

This is a show that loves its audience. Several of the things from this season feel like they were taken right out of fanfiction, so the more we talk about what we want, the more likely we are to see that content. It’s no guarantee, but it certainly can’t hurt.

Second, we need an outpouring of support to #renew as a crew, and that needs to include calling on Max to pour more funding into this show. Everything from the statistics show that this is a popular series. In my opinion, the biggest flaw of this season was that with 8 episodes, things felt rushed for time and some of the character development wasn't fully worked through. Jenkins deserves all the time and money to bring his vision for the 3rd season to life, and we are the ones who can call on Max to give him that. And of course, we also need to continue to support the ongoing strike efforts and respect what those mean for production of even our favorite shows. No new season without fair wages and protections for the people who make this amazing content for us.

So be loud, not only about your love for the show, but also about your favorite characters and what you want to see next. Keep re-watching episodes, call on Max to renew, and show them that this show deserves the funding for more than an 8 episode season.

I love that Izzy got this season dedicated to his character development, losing his idol worship for Blackbeard, and starting to like Stede and care for the crew. His death does feel like being spit in the face by the show, but I did like the moment of closure and reassurance that both Blackbeard and Izzy had with each other. It made me realise that Izzy was a father figure for almost everyone on the ship. The revenge goes to him for protection from Blackbeard when he's on his rampage, and he would have done so without them asking. He shields them from the worst of Blackbeard's rage and violence. Stede goes to him for advice, and it helps him grow into a better pirate. He comforts the members who need guidance and are unsure of their place. He makes wood carving for Lucius and gives fatherly advice that helps him heal. Everyone, especially Stede, they look at him for praise and confirmation, the same as any child has done with their own dad. All the characters ache for a family, and it breaks my heart that they lost someone who was seen as a strong and caring authority figure like a father.

And losing a father is hard to heal from.

He also hid his fatal injuries from the crew like fathers do so that no one worries or panics about them and focuses on what’s important.

He put him in the way of danger many times to save the crew.

Stizzy take on What Happens In Vegas

Stede and Izzy meet up in Vegas have the greatest night of their lives ending it of course in the one hotel bed and with a gold band on their fingers. They argue the next morning that this was obviously the biggest mistake evar, there is no way the two of them could possibly survive let alone stay with one another. Though that was before Stede uses Izzys quarter to play one last game and hit the 10x Mega JackPot.

10 million dollars is on the line, so can their friends, Lucius and Ivan & Fang, not to mention their new marriage consultant Olu keep these two from killing each other so they can at least spilt the money fair and square.

Or will some icky feelings change everything?

not to go on and on about the symbolism of rope in the show but season two is going above and beyond

in s1 to both ed and stede rope was something that haunted them (yk eds parricide and stedes rowboat incident) but in the season we see rope as something that helps and connects them (the entire crew is wearing rope, the way they use it to make the lighthouse, in the fuckeries, and how ed willingly gives finally up to the spanish to be tied down for stede)

and s2 has continued this!! stedes (admittedly very good escape plan i'm so proud of him) was using rope and of course the rope tied to ed as he sank to his death, which only stedes voice could loosen
