RASHA'S CALL TO ACTION
"rasha abdulhadi is calling on you, dear reader, to join them in refusing and resisting the genocide of the palestinian people. wherever you are, whatever sand you can throw on the gears of genocide, do it now. if it's a handful, throw it. if it's a fingernail full, scrape it out and throw. get in the way however you can. the elimination of the palestinian people is not inevitable. we can refuse with our every breath and action. we must."

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Supreme Court upheld the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youths Friday, rejecting pleas from parents that it violates their right to decide on and seek medical care for their children.
The 8-1 ruling from the all-Republican court leaves in place a law that has been in effect since Sept. 1, 2023. Texas is the largest of at least 25 states that have adopted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors.
The Texas law prevents transgender people under 18 from accessing hormone therapies, puberty blockers and transition surgeries, though surgical procedures are rarely performed on children. Children who had already started the medications had to taper off their use.
“We conclude the Legislature made a permissible, rational policy choice to limit the types of available medical procedures for children, particularly in light of the relative nascency of both gender dysphoria and its various modes of treatment and the Legislature’s express constitutional authority to regulate the practice of medicine,” Justice Rebeca Aizpuru Huddle wrote in the court’s decision.
The lawsuit that challenged the Texas law argued it devastates transgender teens who are unable to obtain critical treatment recommended by their physicians and parents. The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law estimates about 29,800 people ages 13-17 in Texas identify as transgender.
The only justice dissenting with Friday’s ruling said the Texas Supreme Court was allowing the state to “legislate away fundamental parental rights.”
“The State’s categorical statutory prohibition prevents these parents, and many others, from developing individualized treatment plans for their children in consultation with their physicians, even the children for whom treatment could be lifesaving,” Justice Debra Lehrmann wrote in a dissenting opinion. “The law is not only cruel — it is unconstitutional.”
A lower court had ruled the law unconstitutional, but it was allowed to take effect while the state Supreme Court considered the case.
Texas’ Republican attorney general, Ken Paxton, vowed in a post on the social platform X after the ruling that his office “will use every tool at our disposal to ensure that doctors and medical institutions follow the law.”
Advocates criticized the ruling.
“It is impossible to overstate the devastating impact of this ruling on Texas transgender youth and the families that love and support them,” said Karen Loewy, senior counsel and director of Constitutional Law Practice at Lambda Legal, which was among the groups that sued the state on behalf of doctors and families.
“Our government shouldn’t deprive trans youth of the health care that they need to survive and thrive,” said Ash Hall, policy and advocacy strategist for LGBTQIA+ rights at ACLU of Texas. “Texas politicians’ obsession with attacking trans kids and their families is needlessly cruel.”
The law includes exemptions for children experiencing early puberty or who have “a medically verifiable genetic disorder of sex development.”
Such exemptions underscore the law’s discriminatory nature, said Dr. Jack Drescher, a psychiatry professor at Columbia University who edited the section about gender dysphoria in the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic manual. Gender dysphoria is the psychological distress experienced by those whose gender expression does not match their gender identity and is a required diagnosis before treatments can begin.
“They’re saying if you’re not a transgender child and you need these drugs, you can have them, but if you’re a transgender child who might benefit from these drugs, then sorry, you have to move to another state,” Drescher said.
The restrictions on health care are part of a larger backlash against transgender rights, touching on everything from bathroom access to participation in sports. Former President Donald Trump has vowed to pursue other measures that would restrict the rights of transgender people if he wins the November election, including a ban on gender-affirming care for minors at the federal level.
As more states move to enforce health care restrictions, families of transgender youths are increasingly forced to travel out of state for the care they need at clinics with growing waiting lists. At least 13 states have laws protecting care for transgender minors.
Most of the states that have passed restrictions face lawsuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to hear an appeal from the Biden administration attempting to block state bans on gender-affirming care. The case before the high court involves a Tennessee law that restricts puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender minors, similar to the Texas law.
Gender-affirming care for transgender youths is supported by major medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychiatric Association and the Endocrine Society.
In a concurring opinion, one justice dismissed the position of the medical groups.
“The fact that expert witnesses or influential interest groups like the American Psychiatric Association disagree with the Legislature’s judgment is entirely irrelevant to the constitutional question,” Justice James Blacklock wrote. “The Texas Constitution authorizes the Legislature to regulate ‘practitioners of medicine.’”
Texas officials defended the law as necessary to protect children and noted a myriad of other restrictions for minors on tattoos, alcohol, tobacco and certain over-the-counter drugs.
Several doctors who treat transgender children testified in a lower court hearing that patients risk deteriorating mental health, which could possibly lead to suicide, if they are denied safe and effective treatment.
The ban was signed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, the first governor to order the investigation of families of transgender minors who receive gender-affirming care.

Chef’s Choice was up for a Lammy this year and LOST! And I legitimately could not be happier.
I always think people are lying when they get all humble after something like this, but I am NOT lying, y’all. Genuinely, it was a thrill just to be short-listed for the Lambda Literary Awards.
If you haven’t gotten around to reading Chef’s Choice yet, please pick it up! Luna and Jean-Pierre will always hold a special place in my heart and, I’m told, the hearts of trans readers who saw something of themselves and their relationships in this book. Hooray for my sophomore romcom, the T4T fake dating foodie farce that got out into the world!
Today, I’m just basking in the fact that I was in a room with lots of queer talent with my hot wife on my arm. Truly wouldn’t believe it if you’d told me in 2021 this was my future.
I, for one, am going to buy a copy of the winner in the LGBTQ+ Erotica & Romance category, Laura Q’s A Tight Squeeze: Smutty Trans and Queer Stories. In my opinion, the correct book took home the award. Erotica has always been a cornerstone of queer literature and it makes my heart happy seeing it get its flowers. I definitely encourage you to check out the short list to see all the titles that were up for awards this year. What a slate! Although I’m still confused why the Lammys structure their categories the way they do. I find it really strange to have what is essentially a category for LGBTQ+ Erotica & BTQ+ Romance while the Big L and Big G are off doing their own thing in Romance categories, but maybe that’s just me. Anyhoo!
I was not expecting to win an award but I have anxiety so here is the acceptance speech I had in my pocket, reproduced with only slight editing for you.
I want to thank my wife, without whom none of my books would exist; my agent Larissa Melo Pienkowski; Dana, my first reader and lifelong friend; Lara Jones, my editor at Atria, and the entire Atria team. Any accolades this book receives is a reflection of their dedication to the bit. Having a trans love story celebrated in this moment is meaningful because this is a moment when politics and police and policies are coalescing around the idea that trans lives are worthless. That we are disposable. And it is a moment where those same or similar forces are saying Palestinian lives are worthless, are disposable. These two things, and many other injustices besides, are forever linked in my mind because there is no trans liberation, queer liberation, any liberation, until there is complete liberation. Trans rights now, and in the same breath, in the same moment, free, free Palestine.
This Pride I am asking you to please donate to Gaza Funds and do what you can to protest this genocide.
One last thing! Triple Sec, my poly romcom set in the glamorous world of high-class cocktail bars, is out now and I am still on tour! If you’re in Brooklyn, Philly, or online there’s an event for you. Come on out, we’ll get a drink, have a few laughs, etc. Byeeeee sluts 😘

I still have things to say about Freehoun.
I understand why, in Half-Life 2, they made it so Alyx was Gordon's "love interest". They're the same age (Gordon was in stasis for those 20 years, so he never aged) and, y'know, straight. But I think it'd be way more fitting, and more compelling as a story, for it to be Barney.
They were friends. Despite Gordon's muteness, they were still friends (Gordon being a mute isn't necessarily canon, but we'll consider it canon for the sake of the point I'm making). And how tragic is it that they took completely different paths during the Black Mesa Incident? Gordon never saw Barney again after Half-Life's opening sequence. Barney never saw Gordon again after seeing him be dragged away, seemingly to his death, or worse: already dead.
And, presumably, no one apart from the scientists in the Lambda lab knows that it was Gordon who went into Xen and killed the Nihilanth [edit: even if they did know it, Gordon never came back from the Xen. And there was no way for him to, it was never planned. He defeated the Nihilanth and never came back]. Gordon just was never seen again after Eli told him to ask for help right after the Resonance Cascade, by anyone who's still alive in the Half-Life 2 games. Neither Kleiner, nor Eli, nor Barney, Magnusson, Uriah... No one knew what had become of Gordon Freeman.
He was dead. For twenty years, he was dead. Barney escaped Black Mesa, parted ways with Dr. Rosenberg, ended up in City 17, and then he sees a familiar face in a train heading towards Nova Prospekt... no. He wasn't gonna lose Gordon again, and even if it weren't Gordon, he was still going to save that man. He wasn't gonna let Gordon die, or worse: become a Stalker. So he risked his CP status, and possibly his life, just to get Gordon away from the Combine's hands and into Kleiner's lab.
All that was out of the love Barney had for Gordon. Alyx is an incredible character, but what did she ever do for Gordon? All she knew is that he was legendary, but she didn't know him. Barney knew him. They used to race for who could get into Kleiner's lab first. They used to go out together, "About that beer I owed ya!" The rest is headcanon, but those two facts are canon.
I know romance is not, and has never been, the main point of Half-Life. But they deserve to be together, at least a little bit.

A Safe Girl to Love by Casey Plett
Tumblr media
A new edition of the acclaimed debut story collection by two-time Lambda Literary Award winner Casey Plett.
By the author of Little Fish and A Dream of a Woman: eleven unique short stories featuring young trans women stumbling through loss, sex, harassment, and love in settings ranging from a rural Mennonite town to a hipster gay bar in Brooklyn. These stories, shiny with whiskey and prairie sunsets, rattling subways and neglected cats, show that growing up as a trans girl can be charming, funny, frustrating, or sad, but will never be predictable.
A Safe Girl to Love, winner of the Lambda Literary Award for transgender fiction, was first published in 2014. Now back in print after a long absence, this new edition includes an afterword by the author.

Can you tell us more about #Brown Eyed!Norman? =)
For sure, anon! This all started with @fullscoreshenanigans' post [https://www.tumblr.com/fullscoreshenanigans/735265331344474112/this-makes-me-insane-for-giving-me-ideas-so?source=share] about Norman having brown eyes instead of these piercing blue ones we all know and learned to love (or not, how this posts shows (●ˇ∀ˇ●). From the second I saw these edits, the idea of a Norman with brown eyes taking over the place of „the original one“, playing around with the idea of Norman actually being cloned in Lambda 7214, like we all assumed when the particular chapters dropped back in the day.
Some major points this AU contains for me(!):
brown Eyed!Norman is one (!) clone of og Norman, as perfect as one can be, but developed with the flaw of having brown eyes instead of blue ones
Norman was slowly dying due to the experiments performed on him in Lambda, so genetic material was collected and several copies of the genius boy prepared
BE-Norman‘s number is actually 22194-04, due to him being the fourth clone being bred, and he regained consciousness after Norman as well as the other three experiments died due to… unforeseen circumstances ¬_¬
to prevent to be replaced too (he was a lackluster copy after all, because of his eye colour) 22194-04 killed the rest of the clones due to cutting off their life support. One could argue he didn’t even commit murder because they weren’t alive yet, but… he knows what he did and couldn’t care about it too much
to fool the rest of the cattle children being held prisoner in Lambda, the new Norman used blue contact lenses the scientists gave him before to conceal this flaw of him. No one of his underlings noticed, of course not – how could they, when he was William Minerva, God of the cattle children and destroyer of all demonkind?
of course the charade began to grumble when Emma, Ray and the rest of his family arrived at Paradise Hideout; from the start, they had the feeling something was off about him, but couldn’t really pinpoint what
lacking memories, changes in behavior and preferences and of course their heart telling them that’s not their Norman led Emma and Ray to investigate Norman’s private rooms. There Emma stumbled across a pack of blue contact lenses… and being caught in the act from Norman, he then finally starts spreading the facts about himself and of course their beloved friend not being in this world anymore, but merely replaced by a lackluster copy…
I have to say, it’s not a fully developed story, but more of an idea, playing around with some fucked uped ideas and story bits. Maybe I will do more with it in the future. Maybe not. But be sure, anyone jumping on this bandwagon is very welcome to add their own takes and ideas!
Thanks a lot for asking!

Dr. Ratio was a medical doctor at one point of his life, when he first graduated from university. Though, he quit after the number of patients that died in his care had reached over 10 in total over the course of a 17 year long career (including residency) at 26 years old.
Dr. Ratio hails from the planet Amphoreus, The Eternal Land. (Until proven otherwise)
Dr. Ratio is a lightweight, having never touched alcohol until 1 night when he was 26. He hasn’t had a drop since then.

| Miscellaneous
Dr. Ratio has been known to carry a few peculiar behaviors that are notably “owl-like”, as his students say, such as being able to rotate his head over his shoulder much more than the average person and displaying a wider gaze when presented with a topic of special interest.
Dr. Ratio is also known to exclaim with peculiar (again) noises when caught off guard. Such noises are those of a rubber duck when he is poked or squeezed spontaneously, a purring sound when comfortably sleeping, and an owl’s low “hoo” when called for (again) spontaneously.
Dr. Ratio owns a wide collection of rubber ducks in many designs, sizes and colors, each with a backstory of how he acquired them and often extremely long and.. Interesting names. Veritas can go on for hours about each one. He also collects stationary, but not as seriously.
Dr. Ratio made the marble statues used in his technique himself, a result of his stone masonry hobby. He also has a few black and white practice self portraits in the charcoal medium.
Dr. Ratio frequently collects hair accessories and rings, maintaining a wide collection of these in his bedroom. Yes, he is open to sharing the hair accessories with those he befriends.

182 Days of TPN - Day 168
Chapter 168: "Dad"
I know this is the same room Isabella & Peter were seen having their discussion in back during ch165, but to just have two plain chairs in such a large, empty room seems so extra. Regardless of that, I do like the panel of the trio here, even though they're surprised to find no one here due to the fake footage Peter fooled Vincent with that lead them there.
Tumblr media
Dunno how all the kiddos are hearing Peter's message since the teams seem to only have one person with a communication device but whatever. Perhaps he's speaking loud enough for everyone to hear.
Tumblr media
Although I have a hard time believing the Ratri men were able to tie up the Adam clones without a fight, I guess anyone will yield once you hold them at gunpoint. Also, the absence of Hayato in this panel is a nice hint to his role next chapter.
Tumblr media
While the demon guards don't cause much of a problem during the rest of the story, it still would've been better if the kids killed them off instead of put them to sleep. I get that they didn't wanna kill if they didn't have to, but it would've been one less thing to worry about. Hearing about Sonju & Mujika's execution definitely adds to the stress. Not as much as their deaths could have, but we're thankful Peter was stupid enough to actually wait three days.
Tumblr media
Along with all the citizens who drank the evil blood being killed, the Ratri clan and the higher-up demons taking control of the government, let's add the plan to assemble a ton of new Lambda farm into the mix as well. Talk about a big time panic. The premium farms don't sound so bad now huh?
Tumblr media
Oh Vincent, you dunno these kids as well as you thought if you honestly believe they would shoot the adults in front of them. Emma, Ray, Don & Gillian couldn't manage to fire a shot at Andrew back when he held Dominic & Alicia hostage after the shelter raid. You're best bet would've been Oliver. This goes back to that old post of mine wondering who, among the kids, would be able to shoot at another human, but I still believe Ray could manage it, if only as a last resort.
Tumblr media
The thought of Norman firing at another person was always a toss up for me though. Of course he showed no mercy towards demons during this WM phase, so even with the clear difference between demon and human, I wouldn't have been completely surprised if that cold persona of his came back with a vengeance once he heard Vincent get shot. Peter's been a thorn in Norman side ever since Lambda, so having this bastard personally hurt one of his friends just adds fuel to the fire. Norman (& Ray) did often mention taking down Isabella & Krone back during their GF days if they wanted to escape successfully, so they have level of brutality, it's just been real lowkey. Thankfully none of the children need to get blood on their hands. They've suffered enough already.
Tumblr media
Please never say those words with your mouth. No one in this world considers you as that.
Tumblr media
Hell yeah Oliver, let him know what's up!! I love that he, Zack & Gillian feel so strongly about the word "dad" because of the relationship they had with Lucas. The same can be said about Ayshe & her father but I can ramble more about all that next chapter.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
If you've been around me for a while, then you already know how damn hilarious this panel of Norman is to me.
Tumblr media
I mean, in context, it's pretty serious, but thanks to a silly edit I've made years ago, I can't look at this panel anymore and not laugh like an idiot. So, now's the perfect time to upgrade it from a noticeable bad edit I made in the car on my phone once upon a time to something more worthy to use every time I lose my mind.

In response to this post by @loving-n0t-heyting.
Well... I guess?
So I don't actually have as much of a dog in this fight as maybe I implied I did, and maybe it's ill-advised to get into this further, but I do kind of feel like this reply misses the point a little?
Right, I might be missing something, but I believe that models of FOL, and models of SOL in the standard semantics, and models of typed lambda calculus, and so on, are all defined in basically the same way? They are all special cases of a more general definition.
Like, I believe that given a first- or second-order language L with constants c_1,...,c_n, functions f_1,...,f_m, and relations R_1,...,R_k, the set of all terms and formulae of L (call this set A) is an example of a free partial algebra. This partial algebra is generated by the variables and the constants, under application of partial functions corresponding to f_1,...,f_m, R_1,...,R_k, the logical connectives, and ∀ and ∃. I might have missed one. Uh the terms of lambda calculus are generated in a similar way. And anyway, a model is just another partial algebra M in the same signature with a structure preserving map φ : A -> M (EDIT: actually, one for each variable assignment function) (EDIT 2: since the constants are part of the signature and A is free, any variable assignment functions automatically induces a structure preserving map A -> M. So a model is just another partial algebra M.). Uh and then we make some demands about the structure of M, like for FOL we force M to be the disjoint union of a set M' and {T, F}, where M' is the universe of the model as traditionally defied. And for lambda calculus we demand that M is the disjoint union of a universe M_t for each basic type t and (maximal) sets of ith order functions between the M_t.
Shit, I should actually work out all the details. I don't think this reply is going anywhere without that. I probably don't have time for that.
Right, the point is that I am pretty sure that all these different definitions of "model" are just special cases of the exact same thing. And the way we define models of simply typed lambda calculus with quantifiers exactly reduces to the way we define them for first- and second-order logic, if you just get rid of all the lambda terms and the stuff of highers types. Uh yeah. I'm like 90% certain this is true. But without working it out on paper I can't be sure. Consider this a beta thought.
Uh but Henkin semantics are not a special case of this. Because you need to fix a Henkin prestructure—the sets of higher-order functions are not maximal, like you're have some subset of M_t^{M_s} for types t and s, or whatever. It's a different thing.
But the point is like: this strikes me as the canonical way to define a model! Far from defining models this way specifically to get the results we want—which seems more like what Henkin semantics is doing, to get a nicer meta-theory—this is just, defining models like we define homomorphisms in algebra: there's one canonical way to do it, and if you do it a different way, that's the choice that students are going to ask for motivation for. Right?
But, yeah, I agree there is not a lot of mathematical content to this.
My point (that FOL is odd in various ways) would maybe have been better illustrated by talking about nonfirstorderable sentences, which I did mention in a reblog. I think it's difficult to deny, re: nonfirstorderability, the claim that "FOL is limited in certain ways by the topology of strings". Which is fine, FOL works fine, but it is weird. I am not sure what argument one could put forth to say that that is not a strange contingency for a logical system to have.
And, actually, this is directly related to the stuff about the Peano Axioms: because the axiom schema of induction in Peano Arithmetic includes one axiom for each first-order sentence, what is firstorderable directly determines what you can do induction to! And I claim that is... strange. That's really funky. That's very funky!
You don't actually need the whole of SOL to remedy this string thing, you can just allow trees of quantifiers or whatever. Various people may have looked into this.
But, no yeah actually, after having written this last bit I am slightly convinced again that there is a genuine (slight) odd thing going on here. Uh it's not just all trivial, motivated reworking of definitions as the linked post sort of implies. Well I don't know. It's late. Maybe I've made an error somewhere here; lord knows when I don't double check my math posts that can happen.

:Tiamat: FREEDOM! RAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Look, at this point, it's Da Vinci's fault.
You know what he's capable of. Lock him in a room or something. Or make an invention that'll prevent this from happening. Come on, it was you who said that you can just throw him at eldritch threats because he'll end up winning them over with his charm; what did you think would happen with humans!?

Also hilarious that Nemo is doing the Tail’s gets trolled face.
Ibuki literally offered Ritsuka a marriage where they would be the progenitors of a new world and rewrite the blank surface with their children in her summer event
LOL......Uh, i suppose the servants(female) were first, otherwise Gudao wouldn't had been allowed to walk free until they are.

Not pregnancy related but you kinda have to assume Chaldea is a fuck shack given the high stress situations they are always in. You really telling me that none of the female staff wants to fuck Cu or Fergus? Or that the guys don't have private time whenever Boudica walks past them? Some Servants like Medb flat out don't care about normies, sure. But there probably have to be at least a couple staff/Servant flings going on.

User avatar level 2 ButzK OP · 7 hr. ago · edited 6 hr. ago Was always thinking that too, with the amount of Servants that canonically had tons of sex when they were alive, there's no way that they stopped doing that just because they're in Chaldea. No way Cu Chulainn, the guy who canonically banged 20+ women of all origins including Scathach, her sister and her daughter doesn't have his own little club of girls fawning over him.

User avatar level 2 Cerebral_Kortix · 6 hr. ago Shirou's One and Only Lorewise, Fergus and Medb at the least are getting some since Fergus has extra keys at the ready to give to anyone at a moment's notice (including men, by the way. Based Fergus) and Medb is… you know.
Melusine is also a Playgirl though only because she's evil and takes joy in the act of heartbreaking due to considering John Grandorder her one true love (whether he agrees or even likes her or not).
EMIYA and Caesar are also implied to get some, though in EMIYA's case it's outside Chaldea with I guess Event Singularity humans since they fade out of existence and he prefers it no strings attached (plus he's heavily traumatized and seems to go out of his way to avoid Sabers, which considering Chaldea is full of them, makes sense he'd leave the whole place.) In Caesar's case, it's implied to be Cleopatra.
Both Merlin and Oberon are also implied to bang, but Oberon's is in fae Britain so it might have just been part of his plan to seem normal, and for Merlin it's seen in Babylonia and nowhere else.
That's as far as it goes from what I can tell.

User avatar level 3 XxX_TaKuJiLuVr_XxX · 6 hr. ago I am 100000000% convinced that Oberon is a total virgin too disgusted to actually have sex with anybody, and only pretended to have more game than anyone else in Fae Britain for the sake of the act-- He just never actually went through with it, because that'd make him seem too easy and ruin the effect, right?
and anyhow he quickly found out what the ladies of the kingdom really go wild over: balloon art

User avatar level 3 Cerebral_Kortix · 4 hr. ago Shirou's One and Only Partially correct. He's a sex god, but he also isn't a bro code violator.
The reason he goes on his sex train trip in the first place is more to get his friend laid after his heart is broken from his wife cheating on him (kind of ironic that he shows up in NTR doujins considering that) to try to get him to forget about it, and it's implied Astolfo was basically doing it as an uber wingman or threesome style.
It's essentially just Astolfo saying "look, man, all these women cheat too. It's bad it happened to you but you gotta move on. Shit happens."

Left-most one is Sion (Spoilers for end of Lostbelt 2 or start of Lostbelt 3, I don't remember exactly)
Middle one should be Sylvia (Spoilers for Prologue to Lostbelt)
Right one is Elron (Spoiler for future story chapters that has not been released in NA yet, I think, I didn't want to look too much into it since I also don't want to spoil myself)
