and happy all hallows eve. it’s a spooky warm day over here in southern maine. and a downright horrifying vibe in general - i’m having a difficult time focusing tbh.

but i do love this time of year - and i’m absolutely enjoying our decorations. i think i’ll leave them up for a couple weeks past halloween and dia de los muertos - just needing their joy and the playfulness they provide.

little tyelpe had a teeny tiny forge-like dollhouse made for him by feanor, who painstakingly designed every tiny detail and made all toy equipment himself because tyelpe, too young to be in forge, insisted that he absolutely needs to be a smith like his father and grandfather and needs to begin learning now.

and who was feanor to refuse his only grandson who wanted to learn his craft when he only started to walk without bumping into everything? feanor would be elated and would spend hours playing with tyelpe in his little forge. it was before the silmarils when feanor had all the time in the world for his beloved grandson.

the anvil was one of many parts of that dollhouse, one of few that made it to beleriand and the only one that made it through to the second age with celebrimbor.

he could never make himself part with it.

This is bit of a long post so TL:DR Sashannarcy helped me realize that polyamory isn't bad.

When I was growing up, I lived in a very conservative family. Love and Relationships was one man and one woman; there were no ifs, ands, or buts.

Through the course of my life, I've learned that love is love; gender is no matter.

But the more I've waded through the internet, the more polyamory I've run into; and it's always been just a little weird to me.

When I watched Amphibia, I, of course, ran into much Sashannarcy amongst its fandom. I didn't hate it, I just couldn't get behind it. I did, however, love Marcanne.

When I started writing my fic, Unto the Anvil, I placed Sasha as the bad guy. Now, to be fair, I definitely want to see Sasha let her freak flag fly, so to speak; I thought she'd make an excellent villain. But I didn't want her to get redemption. I wanted her to stay evil.

However, I think I hated what I perceived what Sasha stood for. She was that third person. I wanted to push her out so I could just have my Marcanne.

It wasn't her though. It was my preconceived notions that I unknowingly placed upon this girl.

But reading fanfics, seeing art, hearing people's dissections of these characters; I realized this.

Love is love, right?

Anne has two hands, doesn't she? One is for holding Sasha's hand and the other is for Marcy.

I was letting old thinking stand in my way. And while I wouldn't want to be polyamorous myself, this is no reason to hate the idea itself. Let people be happy.

Sasha is still going to be the villain of my story, but her role to play in it has massively changed.

Amphibia has helped me smash my outdated thoughts. As if I couldn't love this show anymore.
