TW: GUN MENTIONS

NO one UNDERSTANDS how desperately I need a Peppermint AU for the Graysons. Love Jennifer Garner so much, just because I mix her up with Julia Roberts does not diminish that fact, and Mary Grayson could SO be that.

For those who don't know, general summary of the movie is as follows:

Family of three is struggling financially.

Dad gets almost caught up in drug/mafia/cartel stuff to put an end to that struggle.

Family is gunned down regardless, Dad and daughter die, Mom miraculously survives.

Mom learns to kick ass, becomes a vigilante for revenge, and ends up become an angel/The Virgin Mary to the people.

SO, in this AU, with the whole trapeze tragedy, the reason for it would change to mimic the movie but it's not necessary, HOWEVER, its execution definitely would need to change. John and Dick "die", we'll get to the quotation marks later, while Mary is the last surviving Flying Grayson. Heartbroken, she allows grief and rage mold her into a ruthless vigilante.

As far as names go, idk. There's a lot more room? for the whole Mary and angel symbolism to be played up here with her name actually being Mary and her uncanny ability to "fly" but there's also room for deviation.

Anyway, as she's enacting her revenge, obviously Batman is trying to hunt her down, so when she hears of his partner, Robin, she immediately thinks of her little boy. Doesn't help, that though the mask obscures some, the fledgling LOOKS like her little boy (cuz...ya know...he is). This could also take place after her revenge and still seeking to do good, Mary's able to be brought into the fold and become a bat.

THERE SHOULD BE NO ROMANTIC RELATIONS BETWEEN HER AND BRUCE. DONT DO IT. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

I don't think Dick should be revived via Lazarus Pit. Two out of...five is the more commonly excepted number but there's also Carrie and Duke so...anyway, two of the Robins being Lazarus Pit revives is enough. It could be some sort of miracle, it could be a false reporting of the incident, it could be an over eager Bruce swooping in as Batman, whatever. What's important to the plot is that Mary at least thinks Dick has died too.

So yeah, there's by little fic idea. It be preferred if it went beyond the movie, but I'm a settler so I'll gladly except anyone's take on this or any fic recs. I would write this myself, but I have 4 on-going wips and I've already been unfair to them.
