Yatsuhashi: Here she is, clean as a whistle. She won't remember a thing.
Nora: (Snoring in Yatsuhashi's arms)
Ren: (Holds Nora) Aren't you going to wipe my memory?
Coco: Ren, you lazy bastard! If you had even an ounce of that chickadee's moxie, I'd be scrubbing your brain like a toilet seat!
Blake: What's going on in here?
Yang: Ruby? Ren? What are you guys doing?
Coco: Hey, Yats, is there, uh, still enough polish for the armor?
Ruby: Are you sure it'll work?
Coco: Hey, Jaune! How was that gangbang you and Team SSSN got into with those NDGO chicks last week?
Jaune: Gangbang? I was here last week, teaching Ruby and Oscar how to sword fight. By the way, you're still pretty sloppy, Ruby!
Coco: (Smiles at Ruby)
Ruby: ...Say, Yang, did I ever tell you that cool swear word Uncle Qrow taught me? Ooh, or about what I think of Ninjas of Love?
Yang: ...What?
Yatsuhashi: (Sighs)

I decided to share a little RWBY w/ a hint of blacksun dream I had a few weeks ago earlier in the volume. Fair warning, very sad. I dunno, just like angst a lot I guess
Like I said, earlier in the volume, before Adam even showed up and told us he had been stalking Blake. Adam allies himself with Salem, who then sends him to Vacuo to retrieve the sword, and so she can clean up the mess he made with the White Fang. Not really sure how that works, maybe he’d have to track down the Summer (?) Maiden when he got there. Idk. Plot hole of my dream.
Sun has taken his team to Vacuo, where Neptune continues to question if leaving Blake and the others was really a good idea. Sun explains that they’re in something much deeper than he knows, but if they need him he’ll come. While they’re in a town Adam overhears them. He recognizes Sun, and immediately gets distracted from his mission because literally every reminder of Blake triggers him (“The Belladonna girl?”) so he starts to follow them.
At night, the boys are camping and teasing Sun and Adam, who’s listening, has a growing suspicion. Sun admits to his feelings for Blake, but how he understands her hesitation to give him an answer and he’s willing to wait. He jokes about finally getting on her dad’s good side though. Adam realizes that Sun is going to replace him in Blake’s life (or at least that there’s a good chance he will) and overcome with rage he ambushes them.
The next day, while RWBY, JNR, Oscar, and Qrow are in Argus (again this dream was wayyy before anything in Argus went down) preparing to leave for Atlas when Weiss gets a telepathic message from Neptune (guess I just made up a semblance for him? I doubt this is what he has though it has to be related to water). He’s bleeding, he’s gasping for breath, he’s crying over and over again “he killed them, oh my god he killed them” and Weiss is obviously disturbed by this, asks who killed who. Neptune just begs her for help before it goes away. Then not even a moment later, Blake gets a call on her scroll from Sun. Everyone’s like, well, that’s really suspicious, is Sun not with Neptune? He has to be close if he can call - so Blake picks up and asks what the hell is going on.
To the surprise of no one reading this it’s Adam on the other line. He mocks her relationship with Sun, before everyone hears Sun yell in pain and they realize Adam has taken him captive. Adam brags over killing the other humans who were with him, and tells Blake if she wants to see him alive again, she has to bring him the Summer Maiden. The team deduces that Neptune must have survived Adam’s attack, and they presume Sage and Scarlet are probably dead. Everyone is positive that Adam is working for Salem now - why else would he give a damn about the maidens? - and that there’s no doubt he’d kill Sun anyway. They realize they have to split up in order to race to save both Neptune, who’s been left for dead somewhere in the Vacuo wastelands, and Sun. Yang and Ren volunteer to go with Blake to rescue Sun and if need be confront Adam, while the rest decide to travel to Vacuo and find Neptune, and perhaps the Summer Maiden as well.
And that’s it... that’s where the dream left off. Listen, next episode of RWBY’s got me stressed to the max over what’s gonna happen. Winter’s gonna come save everybody right?

Headcannons for team sssn
I'm not seeing my babies represented enough so I'll make my own headcannons
(English isn't my first language so bare with me).
Sun is half chinese half african (cause we need more african fables in rwby).
Scarlet is half british half korean (he is based of kpop group member he HAS to be asian coded).
Neptune is romani (cause we need more romani rep).
Sage is indian and could be muslim coded.
Scarlet's semblance is teletransportation but not with portals like raven, but like Nightcrawler from the x-men but instead of leaving smoke, he leaves autumn leafs when he appears and disappears.
Neptune's semblance is hypnosis. When he is semblance is on his eyes turn golden and like a snake, and to work the victim? Has to look him in the eyes ( kinda like medusa, but instead of making people into stones he hypnotizes them).
Sage's semblance is controlling plants or talking to animals, pick your favorite, didn't know which one to pick, but since Aesop's tales are full of like animals and nature I thought these two were appropriate.
Sun's mother is vacuan while his father is mistralian. Lived in Vacuo his whole life and went to study at Mistral to get closer to his father's culture. His parents encouraged him traveling. (I see his mom as African since I see Vacuo to be very African/Arabian inspired, fight me rt)
Neptune was born in lower class and lives with his single mom, wants the best for her so he decided to become a huntsman to get money and give her an easy life. She is his biggest hero.
Scarlet was born in wealthy but abusive family, so he and his siblings escaped becoming LOST BOYS and living in the streets, his older siblings died (angst) so he decided to become a huntsman so he doesn't become a percentage.
Sage was adopted into a wealthy family from a young age and doesn't know much of his origin, but he doesn't really have an interest in that. (He isn't a fan of changes)
Sub is pan
Neptune is bi
Scarlet is gay (obv)
Sage ace (we need more ace poc)
Sun has Adhd while sage is autistic
Sun may not look like it but he is the mom of the group
Neptune and Scarlet are gossip buddies
Sage may not look like it but he is the softest and sweetest person ever.
Sage is the type of guy that organizes today's activities
Sage and Neptune are the most smartest academically
While Sun and Scarlet are the smartest when it comes to street smarts and with motor abilities.
Scarlet doesn't open up to people very easily and is very protective of his team.
Neptune and Sun love to do pranks together and Scarlet joins sometime
Whoever hurts sage dies
Scarlet is the king of sarcasm, and Sage doesn't understand it
Neptune knows how to play the guitar
Scarlet is very good at drawing
Sun is a good dancer
Sage can sing really good
Sun asked Scarlet to help him pierce his ears, a lot screaming happened from both parties, but they made it out somehow
Sun and Scarlet are very good at understanding people at an emotional level, and understand eachother very well.
Sun falls in love easily, and the team has to deal with it
Their bond is very strong

Note
So Neo, I heard you're always the first one invited to "boys only" parties. Just a couple of dudes being bros, nothing weird about that right?
Neo giggled quietly to himself as the music blasted throughout the room, a guys night with tons of much larger, much more masculine students all gathered around and enjoying some drinks~ Dudes being bros, guys being guys, and Neo, squat down low on a table twerking those extra fat globes of pale, wobbly, rippling boi booty for the men all watching and sitting back~! Just bros being bros, obviously~!
Nothing weird about Neo dressed like a naughty little whore for all these men, just some friendly dares~! Like how they dared him to come to the party dressed in his favorite little pair of skintight, pink and white booty shorts that rode up between his bouncing cheeks like a thong, showing off his cute and pathetic little bulge while he shook his fat ass like a pro stripper for the men behind him~! Said little booty shorts obviously said "Butt Slut" across each of his plump, slutty cheeks~
There were other bois doing similar things, but Neo didn't care, not when he wiggled, shook, and bounced his wide, feminine hips for the group behind him, both of those pale globes wobbling with each twerk of his girly ass, lewdly clapping together to the music while he heard the men he was entertaining cheer and catcall~! Some even threw singles at his twerking ass while others recorded the show, flashes of cameras and calls for private shows following close behind~
Neo worked hard to bring these studs to 'the dark side', guys nights getting more frequent, and growing with each one, and all because one slutty little boi wanted to show that bois made the best fuckdolls~ The squeals and squeaks of the other bois getting railed obviously meant that the party was finally getting started, and the nice hard smack across his pale cheeks was all the signal Neo needed to drop down from his little stage and plop his girly ass on a stud's lap, twerking his extra juicy, creamy smooth cheeks up and down the massive log in the stud's pants~
One look over his shoulder, and a cute little wink, proved the stud was who Neo thought it was, the massive green haired member of Team SSSN, a stud twice Neo's size, and with a cock as thick as his girly wrist~ A cock that's wrecked little cute little boipussy more then a few times, and it's always a treat, no matter how much Emerald tells the little slut to stay away from him~
"Fuckin' hell I love those shorts." Was all Neo heard growled into his ear before he felt a large pair of hands on his wide hips, the man helping him grind his cock between those cheeks by humping to match his twerking~
Neo only giggled, smiling and letting the man hump his cheeks as much as he wanted~ Neo was here to please, the entertainment of the party~ He didn't need to be paid though, the exchange was simple~ The studs of the party got a couple of holes to fuck, and use, and abuse all night, and Neo got all the fat, musky, veiny, throbbing cocks his little heart desired~!
Speaking of, Neo looked to the right of him where an equally large stud sat, looking at his fat ass appreciatively, and with a large bulge of his own~ Neo loved parties, cause it meant he was allowed to reach over, all while Sage enjoyed his twerking, undo the man's pants, and pull free his massive pillar of throbbing meat, palming the broad, precum leaking tip while he admired the size and shape~
Atop the man's long red hair were an extra pair of ears, long and canine like, well, Neo hoped canine, and he was proven right when his girly fingers slid up and down that fat cock and down to the wide knot at the base of his bitchbreaker, making Neo's needy little heart flutter~
The loud and meaty smack across his ass broke him from his needy trance, his cheeks jiggling and rippling long after the slap from Sage, and Neo knew he was too horny for the foreplay, he needed to be fucked now~!
Motioning the knotty stud to move over, Neo lodged himself on all hours in the middle of the couch between both studs, his absolutely bouncy bubble booty raised high and bouncing for Sage while Neo lowered his face down to the fat knotted cock, his plump, glossy lips meeting the tip for a quick kiss before spearing that cock halfway down his throat with a loud, wet, nasty gag and slurp~!
Neo's lips were sealed perfectly around that doggy cock like a vacuum as he slid it out of his throat and mouth to the tip, cheeks hollowed, his lips dragging along it for the sluttiest little blowjob face the man had ever seen, all while loud, wet, needy slurping and sucking echoed past his glossy lips~ The man above him could only groan in pleasure, and Neo heard Sage behind him, undoing his belt before he felt his slutty booty shorts get yanked down his meaty thighs~
With only a tiny thong between his cute little hole and Sage's masculine bitchbreaker, Neo wiggled his ass for the man before he felt that massive, steel hard, veiny monster slap down between his cheeks for a quick hotdogging~! Neo's own tiny little clitty leaked helplessly in his pretty pink panties as Sage grabbed his plump cheeks and spread them for his cock, pulling the thong aside to press the tip of his leaking cock against the adorable little pink pucker~
And just as Neo slurped hard on the fat cock between his lips, feeling the man grab a fist full of his pink and brown hair to force his throat down on that fat cock till the fat knot pushed passed his lips and into his mouth, Neo couldn't help the girly squeal as he felt Sage slam balls deep in one hard, fast, brutal thrust of his narrow hips~
"Fuuuuuck!" Neo wasn't even sure who said it, one nuts deep in his throat, the other balls deep in his boipussy, Neo could barely remember his own name passed the feeling of getting stuffed like a naughty little whore and the raw, masculine, musk of the stud's pubes his nose was buried in~!
Sage knew how Neo liked it though, so without a single second wasted he yanked his cock to the tip out of his pretty little hole and slammed back in even harder and faster, starting up a brutal, animalistic pace of fucking that fat ass so hard and fast he swore the whole party could hear those fat cheeks clapping against his hips, both globes rippling with every single smack of flesh on flesh while his cock spread that hole wide~
Neo's entire world rocked and bounced as a massive stud twice his size fucked his little backdoor like it was his personal fucksleeve, slamming in nuts deep like a jackhammer, his own fat, dark, musky balls slapping against his cute little coinpurse and reminding Neo how pathetic his little package is in the best way possible~! And between his lips Neo was currently getting his tonsils swabbed by that fat knotted cock, his new faunus friend realizing bois were made to get pounded like sluts~
Nuts slapped against Neo's chin while a knot filled his mouth, and each and every single fast, brutal slam into his asshole of that massive monster cock banged against his little prostate in ways that made his little cock squirt watery, pathetic cum with every, single, thrust~!
Neo's eyes were crossed in pure pleasure while he squealed like the whore he was, loving every single second of his double stuffing while he gagged, choked, and cried from the cock in his throat~! Mascara poured down his cheeks while the pleasure overwhelmed his slutty mind~!
At some point Neo heard the faunus between his lips swear and snarl before he felt and tasted a thick, stringy, chunky, yummy blast of nut into his mouth and down his throat, and he didn't even need to wait to start swallowing that cum like water~! Looking up at the man Neo opened up wide as he yanked free and blasted a last few ropes of nut across his cute little face, right across his tongue, and even covering one eye~
Of course behind him, Sage wasn't so quick to cum, pushing Neo's face down against the couch and really making him arch his back~! Neo drooled and squealed as the man really got into his anal railing, slamming in so hard and fast he swore he heard the couch creak under him, the loud slapping of wet flesh on flesh so loud he knew other were watching, and Neo fucking loved feeling so small and helpless for a real man to use and fuck like he owned him~!
"Fucking hell!!" Sage snarled, slamming in as hard and fast as he could into the naughty little faggot, blowing his back out while he slam fucked that fat girly ass like he hated the little boi slut. Fuck that little hole felt like a goddamn vice around his cock, and he couldn't stop himself from giving that fat ass a nice hard slap on each cheek, just to leave his hand print on those wobbly globes. "You love that fucking cock, don't you faggot!!"
Sage never minded if it was a chick or a boi, as long as they had a nice fat ass to pound full of cum, he was a happy guy, and Neo just so happened to be the smallest, thiccest little girlyboi he'd ever fucked~
Neo's panties were a mess as every single slam against his P-spot made him squirt, made him cum like a little whore from that massive monster balls deep in his little boipussy~! And he just couldn't stop himself from grabbing the edge of the couch and throwing his fat, girly bubble butt back into Sage's thrusts, squealing and crying in pure pleasure the whole time.
The large stud could barely hold back from blowing his load right then and there, but he knew there was a right way to fuck a whore like Neo.
Sweat dripped down their bodies as Sage suddenly grit his teeth and started slamming in nuts deep even hard, pushing the boi down onto the couch for the hardest anal ramming he'd had all week. With a snarl of pleasure, the sounds of wet slapping grew louder and faster, Neo's squeals more girly and needy as he was pinned face down on the couch in a rough, brutal, frantic prone boning that left him feeling trapped under the brutal stud rearranging his insides, his eyes crossing in pleasure while his tongue hung out of his mouth~!
Sage didn't care that he hadn't paid a single second of attention to that little pathetic clitty, he knew Neo got off to being treated like a girl, and that meant he never touched his own little dick, just like Sage liked his bois, completely addicted to cock and hands free orgasms. And he was currently railing the perfect boi, so hard he literally felt the couch under them break something, didn't know what, but the cushion definitely felt like it had more give as he bit the small bois neck and slam fucked him like a beast in heat, slamming as hard as he could while his nuts clenched against him, right up until Sage blew his load balls deep in the little fairy's fat fucking ass, not that it stopped him from fucking him.
And Neo only screamed in pleasure into the cushions, the boiling hot feeling of pure bliss filling his insides while the stud continued to ram his little prostate like he wanted it to hurt, and Neo was only losing his fucking mind to pleasure the whole time~! He could literally only lie there and take it like a good little butt slut, like a good little girl, and it felt so fucking good~!!
Every second felt like hours as Sage continued ramming his creamy, sloppy, cum filled boipussy until his very last spurt of creamy goodness~!
And when the man finally grunted and yanked his cock free, Neo shakily but quickly dropped off of the couch and onto his knees, swiftly taking Sage's massive, dark, cum covered cock between his lips, loudly slurping the cum off his bitchbreaker lovingly, jerking the base of his cock while slurping and sucking as hard as he could to get every last drop of his newest Daddy's nut~!
And while Neo choked on that cock, cleaning it off with just his tongue, Neo reached back and spread his ass for the next stud to cum fuck and abuse, cause the night literally just started, and Neo was far from done, if the sounds of a stud undoing his belt was any indication~

RWBY / Danganronpa AU write-up:
(After watching Game Grumps play DR this morning, I’ve had Danganronpa on the mind. So, I decided to write this up for fun)
Set-up: In an alternate universe, teams RWBY, JNPR, SSSN, and CFVY are invited to attend Hope’s Peak Academy, the next step to becoming Huntsmen and Huntresses after graduating from Beacon Academy. Monokuma traps the students there and forces them to kill each other in order to escape.
Chapter 1
The motive for this round is “memory wipe”. If no one is killed in 24 hours, then their loved ones’ memories of them will be wiped out. No one will remember them outside of the school. This freaks out Yatsuhashi Daichi in particular due to his past traumatic experiences with his semblance. And sure enough, he is the first student to die.
During the class trial, the students have a hard time determining who the killer is. As they uncover the truth piece by piece, they soon discover that Yatsuhashi was not as innocent as it seemed. It turns out, he was actually PLANNING on committing a murder of his own. Ruby Rose then starts to wonder if Yatsuhashi was killed in self-defense, that he had actually carried out his plan but failed and was killed by his would-be victim.
The students are about to give up until Nora Valkyrie points out that Yatsuhashi has an unexplained broken rib. The wound wasn’t fatal, which is why the students opted to ignore it. That’s when Ruby realizes that the injury could’ve been caused by a really strong punch.
Cue the “CHOOSE THE GUILTY PERSON” minigame and Ruby selects Yang Xiao Long. After a long back-and-forth of Ruby picking apart the evidence and testimonies, as well as Yang defending herself, Ruby eventually proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Yang killed Yatsuhashi in self-defense. Yang breaks down, wondering if she inherited Uncle Qrow’s misfortune semblance.
Yang’s execution: Yang fights several robots dressed as the White Fang. Suddenly, she’s cornered by a robot dressed as Adam Taurus. Yang tries to fight him but Adam-bot strikes first, cutting off her arm (just like the show). This time, Adam-bot finishes the job by cutting off Yang’s other limbs before decapitating her.
(students eliminated: Yatsuhashi Daichi, Yang Xiao Long / 14 students remaining)
(quick note: just like the actual Danganronpa series, I killed off Yang in the first chapter since the games killed off someone you thought would have been a major character for the rest of the game. Sayaka in DR1, Byakuya in DR2, and Kaede in DR3)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2
The motive for this round is “2 lies and a truth”. The group is given three statements about each other, 2 of which are false and 1 which is true. To prevent the students from just confirming which is true and which is false, Monokuma clarifies that any student who reveals the information in their cards will be killed instantly. This greatly increases the paranoia among the group. Just to give an example of this motive, Ruby’s statements are:
1) Weiss Schnee’s sister, Winter, arrested Qrow Branwen for murder, which he was framed for (in this alternate universe, this turns out to be the true statement but was written by Monokuma out of context in order to make Ruby hate Weiss)
2) Blake Belladonna’s parents scammed Taiyang Xiao Long out of a deal that would’ve made him millions of liens.
3) Lie Ren mocked Summer Rose after her death and has even pissed on her tombstone
And the victim of this round is...Sage Ayana. During the class trial, the group discusses whether anyone had any statements involving Sage. The only ones who do turn out to be Jaune, Coco, and Blake. Ruby proves that Coco was in her room at the time of the murder while Blake is cleared by Sun Wukong (he says something about how Blake needed him for help with a special project).
Side note: Blake later reveals that her special project was investigating the academy to find any clues regarding Monokuma’s identity and what happened to Hope’s Peak.
This leaves Jaune. After prying him for information, Jaune reveals that his statement about Sage was, “Sage Ayana was planning on blackmailing Jaune’s family after finding out he forged his transcripts”. Everyone starts suspecting Jaune of being the killer because of this. Then, surprisingly, Jaune admits to killing Sage.
However, after analyzing the evidence, Ruby realizes that Jaune is innocent and is trying to cover for the real killer. Reasoning that Jaune would only do this for people he cared for, Ruby then realizes that the killer has to be someone from JNPR. And that person turns out to be...Pyrrha Nikos.
Despite Jaune’s attempts to defend Pyrrha, Ruby eventually proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Pyrrha killed Sage. After admitting defeat, Pyrrha says that she killed Sage on accident. She and Jaune had confronted Sage and, after a heated argument, Jaune and Sage started fighting. Pyrrha intervened, resulting in Sage’s death.
Pyrrha’s execution: Just like the show, Pyrrha is killed by incineration. However, before she dies, Pyrrha sees that the people “responsible” for killing her are robots made to look like JN_R.
(students eliminated: Sage Ayana, Pyrrha Nikos / 12 students remaining)
(quick note: just like the actual games, the execution in this chapter is meant to propel one character’s arc forward. Mondo in DR1 and Peko in DR2)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 3
The motive for this round is control of the Schnee Dust Company. This immediately makes the group wary of Weiss, believing that she’ll try to murder someone in order to maintain control of her family’s business. Weiss tries to convince Ruby that she won’t do such a thing but Ruby, for the first time, is unconvinced of her friend’s intentions.
This chapter is especially brutal since we have two murders to deal with. The first turns out to be Fox Alistair. Then, several minutes later, Neptune Vasilias ends up dead.
The class trial for this chapter is especially complicated due to the two murders. First, the students find out that Neptune was the one who murdered Fox. Ruby wonders if Neptune wanted control of the Schnee Dust Company, to which Sun Wukong says that doesn’t sound like Neptune to him. When the students dig further into the evidence, they start to wonder if Neptune was working with someone.
Ruby proposes the theory that Neptune was ordered by someone to kill Fox. He was then killed by that same person so that the unknown person can claim credit for a murder and to create a complicated scenario that would help them avoid being exposed in trial. This leads to the students turning against Weiss. Ruby points out that Weiss had the most to lose from this motivation and that it would’ve been easy for her to get Neptune to do her dirty work for her (they are still romantically involved in this universe).
After a round of intense questioning, Weiss finally breaks down and reveals that she did indeed plan everything out. She got Neptune to kill Fox and then planned to kill Neptune to complete her plan. However, she swears that she didn’t kill him. Someone else got to Neptune before she could.
When Ruby wonders who else had a reason to kill Neptune, she realizes that the only people who could have a reason would have to be someone close to Fox. This person would also had to have seen Neptune kill Fox and were angered to the point of taking revenge, knowing that would make them the guilty party in the class trial. Ruby then narrows the suspects to two people; Fox’s teammates, Coco Adel and Velvet Scarlatina.
After another intense round of questioning and battling both Coco and Velvet’s arguments, Coco finally admits to killing Neptune. She says that she saw the whole thing and because she was still dealing with Yatsuhashi’s death, she just “snapped”. Coco then bitterly remarks that if she had kept her cool and let Weiss go through with her plan, she would’ve gotten her revenge anyways since Weiss would’ve been exposed in trial.
Coco’s execution: In a bit of irony, Coco is killed by Monokuma with her own miniguns
(students eliminated: Fox Alistair, Neptune Vasilias, Coco Adel / 9 students remaining)
(quick note: just like the games, 3 students are eliminated this round. Also, yes, this is a variation of the Celestia Ludenberg case)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 4
The motivation for this round is...nothing! Monokuma says that he was going to give them one but, based on the previous chapter, the group doesn’t need one due to Weiss’ presence. No one, not even Ruby, feels comfortable being around Weiss, despite all her attempts to get people to trust her again.
Eventually, the group does start to warm up to Weiss again. However, that’s when Monokuma intervenes and claims that he helped Weiss with her plot to kill Fox and Neptune. When Ruby asks how he helped her, Monokuma says that in exchange for information on how to best accomplish her murder scheme, Weiss acted as his “mole” by reporting to him directly about the group’s actions. This further enrages the group, especially Blake since she’s been trying to find a way out of Hope’s Peak Academy.
Just as the group is about to imprison Weiss, she ends up dead. Ruby finds Weiss’ body in her room, apparently having committed suicide. Ruby even finds a suicide note by Weiss’ bedside drawer.
The class trial is initially seen as a piece of cake since it’s clear that Weiss committed suicide. It’s only Ruby and Blake who are unconvinced. They insist that the group review the evidence anyways since there might be something they’re missing.
As the groups digs deeper into the evidence, the students realize that there was indeed more to this death than they originally thought. It turns out, Weiss DIDN’T commit suicide. Someone took advantage of the group’s paranoia surrounding Weiss and her own guilt from the previous trial. They then killed Weiss and made it look like she killed herself out of despair.
The group then starts flip-flopping on who could’ve done this. First, the group targets Velvet since she could’ve been seeking to avenge Coco and Fox. Then, the group targets Sun Wukong since he was friends with Neptune and may have been furious over how his friend was manipulated.
Eventually, the group exposes the true killer: Scarlet David. Turns out, he also had the same idea as everyone else and was hoping that the group would focus on Velvet and Sun. Scarlet then says that he had nothing against Weiss, it was purely just to survive. However, he also says that he was justified in what he did due to Weiss’ actions in chapter 3.
Scarlet’s execution: Scarlet is incased in ice. He is then crushed to death by Weiss’ Arma Gigas as a bit of ironic revenge from beyond the grave.
(students eliminated: Weiss Schnee, Scarlet David / 7 students remaining)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 5
As the penultimate chapter, Blake’s side mission that was mentioned earlier takes the forefront. Since chapter 2, Blake, Sun, Ruby, and Jaune have been working together to solve the mystery of Hope’s Peak Academy, Monokuma, and what happened to them. In their investigation, the group discovers that a “great disaster” happened to Remnant and that it somehow involves Monokuma.
There is no motivation this round once again. However, someone still ends up dead. The unlucky student this time around is...Nora Valkyrie. Ren is especially angered by this since Nora was his best friend/the person he was technically “together-together” with. During the investigation, Ruby is troubled by the fact that the evidence she’s been collecting doesn’t paint a logical picture. Unlike the previous murders, Nora’s death seems...unnatural. Like it shouldn’t have happened.
The class trial for this case is arguably the toughest of the 6 trials. Nothing seems to go anywhere and, despite the breakthroughs made by Ruby, none of the evidence adds up to anything. Ruby then starts to suspect something about this trial; what if this trial is rigged?
Ruby’s suspicions are somewhat confirmed when the group starts honing in on Blake and herself. Ren and Velvet accuse Blake and Ruby of being aloof from the group, to which they defend themselves by saying that they have their reasons for being on their own. Ruby starts to realize that this is what Monokuma wants and that Monokuma may have killed Nora himself in order to set up a case in which the only answer was either Blake or herself.
Before Ruby can bring this up, Monokuma claims that he had nothing to do with Nora’s death. Knowing that the situation is doomed and that it was between her and Blake, Ruby takes the fall by saying that she has no alibi. Blake tries to stop Ruby from taking the fall but the group overrides her arguments. Ruby is voted off and, much to Blake and Ruby’s surprise, Monokuma proclaims that the group got the right answer.
Ruby’s “execution”: Ruby is taken to an angry crowd where she’s laid down on a tree stump. An executioner wielding Crescent Rose appears, preparing to decapitate her. Before he can, Jaune Arc arrives and helps Ruby escape. To ensure Ruby survives, Jaune tosses Ruby down a garbage disposal chute. He’s then stabbed through the back by the executioner, killing him instantly. However, he dies with a smile on his face, knowing that he saved Ruby.
(students eliminated: Nora Valkyrie, Jaune Arc / 5 students remaining)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 6
Ruby wakes up in the garbage disposal, hazy but alive. As she gathers her bearings, she’s met by Blake Belladonna, who had jumped into a different garbage disposal chute to save her. Ruby and Blake make their way out of the area and back to the main lobby. When Monokuma says that Ruby has to be executed due to Jaune’s interference, Blake argues that Ruby should never have been declared guilty in the first place due to the previous trial being obviously rigged. Blake then says that they deserve a re-trial and if Ruby is declared guilty once again, then they will respect the verdict.
Monokuma reluctantly agrees to this, leading to Ruby and Blake realizing that Monokuma is purely observing their actions. He won’t actually involve himself in their deaths and actively encourages them to solve the murders on their own. It was almost as if he wanted them to solve their problems themselves.
Ruby, Blake, Ren, Sun, and Velvet reconnect and, after squashing any previous feelings of distrust, agree to work together to solve Nora’s murder once and for all. In the class trial, the group hits all the same snags they hit in Chapter 5. However, this time, the group approaches the situation as if Nora’s death was rigged. That’s when Ruby realizes that they need to figure out how Nora even died in the first place.
When Ruby digs further into the evidence, Ruby realizes that Nora’s death was purely a freak occurrence. Turns out, she suffered a random brain aneurysm that had nothing to do with any of the investigations. After making this clear, the group discussion turns to who arranged her body to make it seem like she was murdered.
After confirming that none of the group was involved in arranging Nora’s body (including Jaune), Ruby points to Monokuma as being responsible. Monokuma once again declares he had nothing to do with Nora’s death, to which Ruby points out a loophole; Monokuma DIDN’T kill Nora, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t arrange the scene afterwards. Ruby then points out that Monokuma used Nora’s sudden death to his advantage to get the group to turn against herself and Blake.
With his act exposed, Monokuma decides to reveal himself. And it turns out that Monokuma this whole time was...Ozpin. Just then, the rest of Hope’s Peak Academy’s staff and students (who are really just the Beacon Academy staff) enter the trial room and congratulate the surviving students. Even the students’ families are there to cheer them on.
The students are shocked when they hear the explanation behind Hope’s Peak Academy. Ozpin reveals that the entire mystery of Hope’s Peak Academy was just a set-up for the real experiment. This entire process, the true purpose of the killing game, was to weed out the weak students. He says that, due to the coming of the dark lord known as “Salem”, they needed Huntsmen and Huntresses who could survive the harshest of challenges. So, Ozpin and the rest of the Hope’s Peak staff devised the “Danganronpa experiment”. They would torture the potential students mentally and physically and those who were able to figure out Monokuma’s identity and survive the challenges would be fit to graduate to the second-level of Huntsman and Huntress training in Hope’s Peak.
Ruby is horrified by this revelation. When she says that her family wouldn’t have approved of this, that’s when she sees that Qrow Branwen and Taiyang Xiao Long are in the room as well. They congratulate her on surviving “Danganronpa”, saying that she has what it takes to be a Huntress. They then reveal that they also survived a version of “Danganronpa”, which further shocks Ruby since they never told her about their experiences in Hope’s Peak. The game ends on that bittersweet note.
Survivors: Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna, Lie Ren, Sun Wukong, Velvet Scarlatina

Rosebud prep 9
[Vale Hospital]
Today, today was supposed to be a glorious day. A day of laughter and new beginnings; the next chapter in Ruby’s fairytale. Unfortunately it wasn’t. The fairytale was over; the ending snatched away right from her arms. It was time to go back to reality. It’s been hours sense the incident. Ruby was finally awake again and sitting up in her hospital bed for roughly half an hour. Only the doctor had come to see her. She could only imagine why. Quietly she stared at the window and into the night sky with such a vacant expression. No one had to tell her the state of the situation. Deep down she already knew it wasn’t good. Knowing how bad it was would only serve to hurt her more is most likely why she left alone. Or so she thought. A click at the door brought her attention back to inside her room alarmingly. The shadow on the other side told her it was a man but it didn’t ease the anxiety. One too many people have walked through a hospital door into her room today that didn’t like her; anything could happen. Ruby slowly lifted her body off the bed a little as if to dive off of it and catch the person by surprise just in case. Her fears were put the rest though when the first thing to peel into the room was a crooked cross.
Ruby:Uncle Qrow....?
Qrow:*walking in* Hey kiddo. So you are awake? That’s good; I assumed the worst when Tai called.
Ruby:You spoke with dad?
Qrow:Yeah. He called as soon things calmed down. Thought I would want to head over ASAP. He wasn’t wrong....
Ruby:So.....what’s the situation?
Qrow:Ruby, I think right now you should focus on-
Ruby:I’m not a little kid anymore Qrow....
Qrow:....
Ruby:I need...I need to hear someone say it. Where’s Dustin?
There was a tremble in her voice. One born out of pain and pure frustration. Both hands gripped the sheets to the point her knuckles looked white. Ruby’s eyes met Qrow’s with nothing but vulnerability. His heart was breaking at the sight of it.
Qrow:He’s...he’s gone. We don’t know where Cinder and Neo went. Everyone is out looking everywhere and I do mean everyone. You have friends all over the world keeping an eye out. Even Raven is out with Tai searching Anima with Ren and Nora. Weiss went back to Atlas and having all bases sweep through the airspaces they can. Blake and Yang went to search all over Vale before expanding to a few miles outside the kingdom. Team SSSN has called earlier. Your house is just fine and nothing out of the ordinary is making its way through the streets of Vacou as it yet. Glynda assigned extra huntsman here. Oz himself is searching spots that are hard for most people reach and many more.
Ruby:....What about Jaune?
Qrow:He’s....processing. He tried to go off with Yang but we got him to help gaurd the hospital. Figured protecting you was more beneficial.
Ruby:Yet you’re the one giving me the news instead of him.
Qrow:Don’t think poorly of him. Jaune just couldn’t handle telling you the news. I barely can.
Ruby:I know. I just..... *tearing up*
......
Ruby:I’d like to be alone now please.
Qrow:Of course. I’ll keep you posted. *grabs knob* I swear to you Ruby, we’ll find him. Cinder won’t get away with this.
Ruby:Uncle Qrow...?
Qrow:Yeah?
Ruby:Don’t make promises you don’t know if you can keep.
Qrow:.....
He closed the door and left the room after that statement. She knew it came of cold but it was the truth. Hope wasn’t what she wanted right now. She wanted results. Payback; and she wanted it with her own two hands. Tears hit the sheets as she did everything in her power to hold back a scream of pure frustration. Cinder caught her when she was weak, defenseless, forgiving. Ruby wasn’t gonna make that mistake ever again.
xxxx
It wasn’t long before Ruby was finally able to be released from the hospital. The only person there to escort her out was Jaune. She didn’t mind; it meant everyone else was still looking. The two of them didn’t say anything to each other at first; not even a glance. What could you say in a time like this? No words could comfort either of them. Even so, Ruby reached for his hand and held it tight; almost as if she was afraid it would disappear too. He looked at his wife who still faced forward as she walked with tears in her eyes. He returned the handholding with equal force. Their love was still there, but so pain. Too much pain for anyone to deal with alone; yet too steep to truly let anyone in. They were together, but they never felt so lonely.
Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Before anyone realized it, roughly a year passed. No sign of Cinder, Neo, or Dustin. Almost like they vanished into thin air. No one ever truly gave up but plenty still had to worry about their own lives constantly. As a result, more people took a passive role into searching. Ruby couldn’t blame them but she never stopped. Mission after mission she kept owning her skills in baited breath for the day she could end Cinder’s life. It was her ultimate goal if the worse had happened and her child was long since gone. Ruby didn’t even revel in the fact her old dream had come true. Most likely she didn’t realize it yet. Greatest huntsman of her time; of any time most people argued. Finally had she passed the status of of Grimm Reaper. Maria was proud of not sad at the circumstances. Most knew Ruby Rose by one of two very popular names. The Crimson Reaper; not for the color of her attire but for the sight anybody would see if a grimm or for challenged her. The other name was more inviting; a way to let the innocent know their lives would go on without meeting an unfortunate or unsatisfying conclusion by the hands of tyranny. They call her The Storyteller. There wasn’t a day that went by that she wasn’t focused on her goal. Not even today of all days; a special day that everyone took time off for. Everyone but her.
xxxx
There’s a lot of beautiful places in Anima. Each with its own unique charm and way of making the smallest moments feel like the most precious. In one specific forest there’s a meadow of flowers; a garden of peace where everything is graced with the appearance of spring even though it’s currently the middle of fall. Birds sing happily while butterflies dance their gentle wings on the warm breeze that pass through wind chimes to give off a feeling of tranquility. The perfect place for a new beginning. The perfect place for a wedding.
Two sets of chairs were set up perfectly in the middle with plenty of friends and family on both sides for the celebration; while a white carpet ran in between them. It led to a giant majestic tree that was filled with magnolia flowers. Under the tree was a very nervous but excited Blake who was dressed in a dark black tux that was accompanied with gold trim and bow tie. Every so often she would glance at her parents that were giving her the biggest thumbs up for encouragement. She tried not to laugh when attention was directed a few seats back to see Neptune holding a sign that said. “rock that dragon” with a tiny picture of Yang that had her hair glowing and spiky. Sun was behind her and tapped her shoulder which made her flinch. It was probably the tenth time today he had to remind her to breathe or else that suit would be a sweaty mess. Truly the easiest choice for a best man. Wouldn’t be long now. She hoped the brides maids weren’t giving Yang a rough time who was in a log cabin nearby getting ready...
Nora:All I’m saying is a little makeup on her wedding day would show how committed she is!!!
Weiss:She’s a natural beauty! Makeup ruins that!
Ilia:Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Yang smiled as she watched her enthusiastic bridesmaids bicker in their teal dresses about the finishing touches. The bride to be turned around to look in the fool body mirror yet again to see if she thought she was truly bringing her best self out there to her beloved. Long hair that slightly curled? Check. A bouquet of sunflowers? Double check. Wedding dress?Triple check and stunning. Yang would not call herself a dress kind of gal but she fell in love with this one.
The strapless dress started of white around the chest area put will slowly go into a yellow that only got more intense as it went down. Right at her waist is where the dress spread out several inches before almost touching the ground below it; Yang joked many times over the past few months that she felt like she was showing up as a wedding bell herself. Silk gloves that followed the same color design went up to her elbows. The silky attire had a intricate lace kind of design at the bottom that matched the midsection. How her sister wore such complicated things like a corset she would never know. After all she didn’t show up to any practices, the bachelorette party, or anything. Not even a phone call. All she did was send a present.
As happy as Yang was to get married it didn’t seem right without her baby sister chanting for her along the way. Ruby was so happy about the proposal back when it happened; when she was expecting. It was two big news at the same time. No doubt she couldn’t think about the wedding without thinking about Dustin. Yang already made up her mind months ago not to hold this against Ruby. Still, right now there was a stinging in her heart where her sister’s smile should be.
Yang:No makeup....
Weiss:Ha!!
Nora:What!? You can’t be- Yang?
Yang:*tearing up* I would just ruin it, so no makeup.
Weiss:*frowning* Yang those don’t look like tears of joy right now.
Yang:I’m fine. Just feeling a lot of emotions right now.
Ilia:....Let’s give the bride a minute alone shall we?
Yang:That would be nice. I’ll be fine in a minute.
The three girls slowly walked out the cabin. Almost like they were waiting for Yang to stop them, but she never did. This day was almost perfect. Most things are in Yang’s opinion. She never believed in true perfection but if one thing could’ve changed that it would’ve been today. For crying out loud, her mother was here and was gonna walk her down the aisle with her father. “Let’s make this the most unconventional wedding there is!” They told her with a spark in their eyes she had never seen before. She prayed it would lead to some sort of mending between them. They deserved love and it was plain to see their love never truly died.
Yang:(Okay Yang, no more moping around. Despite everything, today is a beautiful day and you’re getting married. Perk up and everything else can be dealt with another day.)
knock knock knock
Yang:I’ll be out in a minute you three!
Jaune:Uhhh just one person.
Yang:!!!? Jaune? Is that you?
Jaune:Yeah. Can...can I come i-
Yang:*swings open door*
Its been awhile since she seen her blonde headed brother in arms. After a couple of months things got pretty hectic and everyone seemed to slip through the cracks when it came to actually checking in. It was something Yang really regretted. Jaune’s hair had grown to his shoulders and stubble was on his face. He greeted Yang with a small smile but she knew it wasn’t genuine. His eyes couldn’t hide how tired he was. Faint dark circles could be seen under them.
Jaune:Hey, been awhile.
Yang:Y..Yeah, sorry about that.
Jaune:Don’t worry about it. Things happened. You look beautiful.
Yang:Thanks. You look....
Jaune:Rough?
Yang:I was gonna say like my dad when Summer died.
Jaune:Ah, so worse; sounds about right. It’s been quite the year.
Yang:Wanna sit down?
Jaune:No I don’t wanna take up too much of your time. I just wanted to-
Yang:*pulls out a chair* Butt.....in the chair.
Jaune:*sits down* Sigh still don’t take no for an answer. You think I would know better by now.
Yang:*smiles* Don’t let this dress fool ya. It’s still me under all of this fluff. How have you been? No lying either.
Jaune:Yang I didn’t come here to bring down the mood. I just wanted to see you one on one so I can congratulate you before things got busy down there.
Yang:*holds his face*......
Jaune:.....
.........
Jaune:I haven’t been doing well. Slacking on missions, eating, sleeping......
Yang:How is Ruby allowing this?
Jaune:I barely see her.
Yang:What?
Jaune:All she does is take missions. Long ones at that. I see her maybe twice, three times in a few months. Even when she’s home it’s for a day at most and we don’t talk. Haven’t since...you know.
Yang:Do you know where she is now?
Jaune:*shakes his head* I never do. Ruby she won’t, she just won’t slow down; and I can’t keep up. That house *trembling* it feels so empty it might as well be haunted. Sleeping in that bed doesn’t feel the same. Then there’s his room.....
Yang:You can’t get rid of it, can you?
Jaune:I can’t even go upstairs anymore Yang.
He looks down at the floor before his head was brought up to see Yang looking at him with an expression that could only be described as pure empathy. Her right hand rubbed his face gently before taking both of her arms and wrapping around him in a loving embrace. Yang could feel the warmth of his tears land on her collarbone but she didn’t care. She just continued to rub his back as Jaune slowly started to wail.
Jaune:I....I......
Yang:Ssssshhhh it’s okay. It’s gonna be okay I promise. I promise....
Jaune:How do you know!?
Yang:Because I know you two. There’s nobody else I know who can go through so much and come out on top. You both are fighters and I’m sorry I wasn’t there as much I should’ve been. I think there’s a piece of that was little scared to. I mean what’s to stop some terrible thing from happening to Blake and I. The thought drives me crazy. Weiss too.
Jaune:You all have a reason to be. We were caught so off gaurd. So unprepared for all this. I don’t know how to recover from this. Not without help. Not without Ruby! *sniffling*
Yang:I won’t let you be alone anymore. Nobody will. It might take a little more time but we’ll think of something. Until then let’s focus on things one step at a time.
She finally lets go of him and helps him stand up. His eyes are now a bit puffy but she has no doubt that her eyes look exactly the same. Yang smiles at him and is given one back in return. This time it’s one that feels more real. There’s still pain in it but also an understanding. He’s not alone. Yang will never let him feel alone.
Yang:Care to walk this emotional mess of a bride to her mom and dad? I think everyone has been waiting long enough.
Jaune:*Nods* You’ve gotten pretty good at this whole comforting me thing. I owe you.
Yang:We’re family Jaune. The only thing I want from you is to see you happy. So after I get hitched why don’t we make that happen?
Jaune:I think you should enjoy your honeymoon as much as possible. Don’t worry about me. I can endure a little longer and lean on others for ideals.
Yang:Keep me informed?
Jaune:Always.
Yang:Good. Now then, hand me that ridiculously sized bouquet. Wedding time.
Jaune tossed her the flowers but did so a little too suddenly. Yang’s pinky didn’t even time to twitch before her face was full of petals and pollen that made her sneeze and hair light up. The two of them stared at each other silently before breaking out into a fit of laughter. All while never noticing the presence of someone else on the other side of the door.
xxxx
Days proceeded to blend together for those trapped in grief. Ruby had just completed another mission solo despite the warnings of of it being at least a three man job. It probably would’ve been for normal huntsman. She’d elevated above that a long time ago. That didn’t mean it was a piece of cake though. The young woman found herself tired as she walked through the sands of Vacou to her home; her only company being the moon shining above her. Much like Jaune, her appearance was somewhat altered since the incident.
It’s been a long time since she bothered to cut her hair. The majority of it reaching her shoulder blades and few strands that fell across her face to the left side of her chin. Her red cloak was tattered from constant battle yet the damage would make it seem like it was only three or four tough adverse that made Ruby strut her stuff. She had gotten really good at not being touched. Red thigh high socks ran up her legs and were only visible by a decent sized slit in a black skirt that went just below her knees. The frills on it made it look layered and flowed effortlessly in the breeze. Pregnancy did a number on her body but finally she was back to black and red corsets that had the pattern of thorny stems crawling towards the top from the side. Long gone were the days of feeling like a kid compared to most of her female friends. Ruby filled out nicely even if she was still a far cry from her older sister, she definitely wasn’t small anymore. The many eyes of men and women staring right above the corset line or paying way too much attention to hips on the opening some of her skirt told her that much. Anyone who tried anything would have the pleasure of getting to know her combat boots. She had gotten used to heels finally but they didn’t fair to well in sand. Lastly she wore her wedding around her neck. The ruby gem matching nicely while the silver band went with her exhausted eyes. At least she finally made it home.
Ruby:*opens door* I’m home.
.......
Ruby:(Guess he’s asleep. Makes-
Creeeeeeeek!!!!!
Without hesitation Ruby back stepped right back outside and whipped out her scythe. Any trace of tiredness left her body and was ready for a fight.
Ruby:Whoever you are, step outside into the light right now!
???:After all this time and you’re still kicking off with the wrong foot. I suppose some habits are hard to crack even for the most exceptional huntsman. I don’t have to tell you that though now do I Mrs. Rose?
Ruby:*tilts head* Ozpin? Is that you?
The man walked through the door way and onto the moonlit porch. The use to be farm boy and ancient hero wore his professor outfit as he twirled his cane casually. Much like Ruby, Oscar’s body had grown up nicely. A shame it wasn’t truly his anymore. Broad shoulders, significant height increase, his skin as tan as ever; no doubt women would’ve been crawling all over him. Especially with his hair. The white contrasted the rest of his design but it also seemed fitting.
Oscar:You can put that away. I thought we could have a chat.
Ruby:So you decided to wait in my house without the lights on?
Oscar:Of course. I don’t pay your power bill so why should run it up when I didn’t know when you would return.
Ruby:......I’m not in the mood for this. Just tell me why you’re here and- gasp! Did you find something on Cinder!?
The man looked at woman who’s eyes seemed to grow big with anticipation. Unfortunately he had to shake his head no; causing what little excitement she had to fade away as her body began to slouch.
Ruby:Should’ve known.....
Ozpin:I might not have come here with the news you hoped for but it is about the same topic. Ruby....I think it’s about time you’ve accepted the reality of the situation, and press on.
Ruby:*jolts up* Excuse me?!
Ozpin:What I’m saying is-
Ruby:I know what you’re saying! I just can’t believe you had audacity to say it! Press on? How could you think I could just move past this?
Ozpin:I never thought that, which is why I’m here now. It’s been over a year and not once have we found clues to where they went. I’ve personally turned Remnant upside down at least twice and never found a true lead. I can imagine how many times you’ve done it by now.
Ruby:What’s that supposed to mean?
Ozpin:It means I’ve been watching. Everyday I look at the mission boards across all the kingdoms. A high ranking job never failed to be crossed almost as fast as it appeared. Low ranking jobs seemed to come in go like the wind and almost all of them had your petals floating in it.
Ruby:A pro huntsman job is to get results quickly right. Of all people I thought you’d proud of my progress, or are you scared I’ll slip up and you’ll lose one of the most valuable chess pieces you ever had? Hate to break it to you but I distinctly telling you once before I’m not apart of your game anymore. No one has been since Salem was killed. Sounds like you’re the one who should press on.
Ozpin:*clenches fist* This has nothing to do with-....*breathes* There’s only one kind a person who gains so much recognition in such a short amount of time. Those who push everything else out. Do you even know where your husband is right now? Because I promise that he is not in that house.
Ruby:.....
Ozpin:It’s a simple question. Do. You. Know. Where. He. Is?
Ruby:*walks away* If you’re not gonna help then stay out of my business.
Ozpin:Jaune has been living in Patch with your father for almost two weeks now. Ever since your sister’s wedding. It was real shock when the maid of honor wasn’t the bride’s loyal sister all because she never answered. Instead she was chasing ghost for all she knows. Is this even about Dustin anymore?
Ruby:*stops walking*......
........
Ruby:Out of respect I will give you a warning; tread lightly Oz. Say his name again and I’m gunning for you.
Ozpin:Then start aiming. *readys cane* Du-
She vanishes almost instantly and appears behind him ready to slash his back but is blocked by a swift pivoting attack. Oz new better than to go into this thinking he had the upper hand. This wasn’t a Ruby he knew. This one had a years worth of anger behind her attacks. Ruby wasn’t deterred by the block. She charged straight at him; cross slashing and firing at him with every move she had. Constantly she kept her scythe spinning like a saw with each advance she made towards the man blocking attacks. Sparks flew with every collision of the two metal weapons trying to bully the other out of the way of their wielder. Ozpin had enough of skirmish and stopped Ruby’s next over head attack by grabbing each end of the can and slaming it upward. The vibration of the block rattled his bones and numbed his arms.
Ruby:Despite it all, Oz I don’t want to hurt you.
Ozpin:That goes both ways.
His cane drops to his side and pulls back before raming itself into each of her ribs and smacking her clean across the left side of her face. Oz doesn’t giver her a chance to breathe and springboards off of her chest; sending her right into the sand. Ruby hits the ground hard then vanishes into rose petals immediately. The wind kicks up the sand around Oz to mask her location in a tiny cyclone.
Ozpin:Recovery time like that comes with practice. Tell me, when did you figure out a skill like that?Maybe it was Tai’s birthday or Weiss’s? Better yet, it was probably Penny’s. You know she just knew you would show up. I mean even James took time out of his busy schedule. Why wouldn’t her best friend?
Ruby:SHUT UP!!!
A streak of red breaks through the sand and crescent rose hooks around Oz’s can. The sound of the trigger pulling back is enough warning to tell him to clench his stomach as a sniper round hits right above the man’s navel and simultaneously yanks Long Memory from his hands. Ruby charges right at him in a fit of overwhelming emotion. Each attack hitting nothing but air and scarring the ground as Oz continuously dodges the assault. He might’ve been an expert at fighting but he couldn’t credit himself entirely for his well time movements. Not when his opponent was too busy fighting the tears rushing to her eyes...
Ruby:Do you have any idea how much this hurts!? What you’re telling me to do!? Every night I have the same clip replaying in my mind over and over again! His face! The way he fit so perfectly in my arms. Those eyes....he had my eyes Oz! All I saw in them was a future filled with potential, but then I wake up and realize it’s gone!
Crescent Rose extends out and Ruby puts all her force into a thrusting attack that Oz side steps easily passed. The ground below Ruby betrays her as she tries to pivot back around. Landing the woman face down in the sand. A gentle breeze blows between them that brings a chill to their fighting area. Oz stands normally over his former student who is now on her hands and knees looking at the ground. He can see her entire body fidget and shake as the sound of her strained voice begins to finally cry.
Ruby:I never dreamed of being of mom; of having a family of my own. But the moment I held him in my arms I knew right then and then. This was it. This was the moment I’ve waited for. I’ve never been so happy in my entire life. *sobbing* Then they took it away from me Oz. They took my son. How am I supposed to live with that!? When does the pain stop!?
Ozpin:*kneels down*.....It doesn’t. Not entirely anyways. Kids, they take a piece of you with them the moment their born and all you ever want to do is protect them. When I lost my daughters I might as well died five times over that night. Salem left me feeling truly alone that day. Robbing me of her love and there’s forever. Till this day I find myself closing my eyes too and them hug me tightly before I wake up to a world where they aren’t around anymore. *tearing up* I’ve had blessing and curse to have lifetimes to cope with such pain; something no one else has. However, you have everything I wish I had when my world crumbled around me.
Somehow Ruby managed to lift her head and meet the eyes of a crying man starring right back at her in quiet agony.
Ozpin:There are people in your life right now who want nothing more but to help you grieve and put yourself back together again. There is someone who loves you more than anything suffering a very similar pain to yours and guarantee you that all he wants right now is his wife by his side; trying to heal and endure together. No one is truly going to stop looking for Cinder but you can not waste your life aimlessly searching for her to beat her. Don’t give her that power over you. Don’t be me. Be better. Learn to be happy.
Ruby:...*wipes tears* You....you really think they’ll forgive me? I missed a lot.
Oscar:They’d have to be mad at you to do that. Ruby, do what you do best. Keep moving forward.
He offers his hand to her and she takes it slowly. Ruby’s heart was still in shambles. Her mind in complete disarray from the wave of pain she’s been holding in. It should be one of the worst feelings imaginable and yet it wasn’t. Crying felt good; amazing even. Finally progress in something felt like it was being made. Even if it wasn’t in what she had hoped for, it was what she needed. Ruby was finally ready to take the first step towards her new ending. She had no idea where it would lead but she knew one thing as she held her ring. Ruby was going to keep her vows. The journey wouldn’t start without Jaune.
Ruby:Patch, right?
Ozpin:Yes if you leave now then you’ll probably make it by-
Ruby:Not yet...
Ozpin:Hmmm?
Ruby:I can’t face him quite yet. Not like this. There’s someone else I need to face first....

“After The Fall” rambling thoughts -- Spoilers
Finished the latest book. Took my sweet ass time cuz it’s the only RWBY content I’m gonna get til the actual series returns. I’m mostly gonna go over characters and the shit that I care about.
For one, I think the book was overall better than the first book, but took longer to get off the ground. Let’s talk characters and teams.
Headmaster Theodore - an absolute unit and I love him. Show boater and hard headed through and through.
Rumpole - She’s pretty cool. She’s got the Midas touch that turns shit to gold. She’s the voice of reason to Theodore.
CFVY - About as expected. Minor insight into Velvet’s past with her dad. Fox is still as troll-y as the first book. Yatsu hasn’t really changed much from the first book. Coco’s insecurities are still worked on, like seeking validation from her elders like Rumpole.
SSSN - Mixed feelings. Sun’s character felt like it was being attacked but I guess it only appears that way because Sun hasn’t really interacted with Sage and Scarlet in the show as their real relationships weren’t really explored until now. Sun’s an idiot but he looks like a bigger idiot in this book. Scarlet got a lot of time in the book to explore his feelings. Most of his anger towards Sun was that he was a crap leader that always does what he wanted without much regard to his team. Sage was basically non-existent, freaking Nolan from BRNZ got more development than he did. Neptune is basically the same from the show but we get insight to his fear of water in that he couldn’t control it and nearly killed his brother with it.
CRDL - M.I.A. They either went to Vacuo or they didn’t.
ABRN - Words cannot describe how happy I am to see that ABRN is in Vacuo. The prospect that they are coming back in the future volumes excites me! Fan imagination of ABRN seems to be close to the mark. Arslan is strong, serious, no bullshit type of leader who has to look after her dumbass teammates (hence the whole mama Arslan). Reese is brash, happy-go-lucky but pretty bad at everything not related to fighting. Bolin made a brief cameo and Nadir was MIA. I swear to god if anything happens to this team like the next team I’m gonna cover, I will quit RWBY.
BRNZ - Welp. Redheads, or other shades of red, aren’t safe. Everyone on the team except Nolan was killed at Beacon. I had a theory going on that they got separated during the attack and a majority of them got killed with like 1 or 2 surviving. I was mostly right, I just wasn’t right on who the survivor(s) was (you can guess who I was rooting for if you look at my past works). Surprisingly, Nolan got some decent character development, short, but enough to make you really feel for the guy -- even though he ran away from Beacon. The details of his teams fate wasn’t covered, so take it what you will. Nobodies dead in my eyes until there’s a body (unless they get disintegrated right in front of your eyes). Would’ve liked if they touched on how he managed to make his way back to Vacuo but maybe in the future if there’s gonna be another installment. I’m still salty af that May died.
NDGO - This team got me feeling all kinds of things. Volume 3 didn’t show them at the Battle of Beacon because these THOTs just dipped right the fuck out. I thought Nebula was the nice girl of the team seeing that small interaction with team SSSN but nah, she’s a total ass hat along with the rest of NDGO. The only character that has any chance of redemption is Octavia simply because of the interactions she’s had with Velvet. If anything, Octavia is just tsudere af because she seems to tolerate Velvet enough and is willing to work with her and even expresses some concern. If anything, NDGO seems to be severely misguided like the rest of the Vacuan and Shade students which I’ll touch up on briefly at the end.
Carmine - Bertiliak - Carmine still is a really sassy a-hole and I surprisingly liked Bertiliak even in his limited time. He’s still an asshole, but he’s straightforward and blunt and was willing to help. Even if it’s either out of sympathy or convenience.
Jax - Gillian - the real baddies of the series. Jax is a manipulative, power hungry, greedy psycho which goes in line with his semblance of Mind Control. Gillian has the ability to siphon aura and augment others. She’s kinda got Jaune’s Semblence except she can siphon and transfer aura to herself or any individual she wants. These two’s heads are so far up their asses it’s kinda baffling. Gillian’s whole shpeel is that she loves oni-chan and Jax manipulates her to his plan though, granted, Gillian even stated she’d do anything for him anyways.
Other Characters - Eh, they’re just sorta filler for the whole re-initiation debacle so not much going on with em.
Vacuo - Vacuo in general is pretty xenophobic. They hate everyone that isn’t Vacuan. They despise Atlas the most and some shun the use of Dust and any technology used by the 3 other kingdoms. The scars of previous generations exploiting Vacuo actually show pretty well. Built way better here than the whole Faunus racism narrative in the actual series. Vacuans have a hard time moving past all the bad shit that happened to their nation and aren’t keen to outsiders making themselves at home or helping them. This makes sense as to why NDGO and practically no one from Shade stayed to defend Beacon. It isn’t their fight and are under no obligation to help defend the other kingdoms because of past scars.
Conclusion: Lots more world building, definitely would recommend the book to fans. Lots of characters who haven’t been seen in-awhile are coming back. Don’t expect to be blown away by the story which is mostly serviceable. Would’ve liked to see more of Sun’s past and the “Dojo” involving his cousins and also would’ve liked if they didn’t make Sun that much of a dumbass. Sage being sidelined sucked as Scarlet seemed to get quite a bit of love throughout the book. The book bouncing between a bajillion character perspectives made it pretty confusing and under developed the arcs they had going on. Even in book format, RWBY’s expansive character roster is still a crutch for writers. I still liked it overall mostly because of character interactions and the world building so I give it an 7.5/10. Those 2.5 points lost is because May is dead, but unless there’s a body, she ain’t dead to me.

okay I'm gonna write some short thoughts for tonight, and maybe work on writing something longer later. anyway, now that I've finished before the dawn it's time for a final review:
it's better than I thought it would be, and I had a lot of fun analyzing it as I went(as you've seen if you've been following my lb) but it was still disappointing.
good points:
myers figured out his perspective problem! I reread atf right before this, and while overall I think atf was better, I was relieved when I saw that he stopped randomly switching perspectives in the middle of a chapter, or if he did in that final scene at the end, it was after a text break. there was one time I saw that he slipped up on this, so there was a 99% success rate
it was doing a lot! this is definitely a bad point too because in the end there just wasn't enough room for everything, but some of the stuff the book did really landed
the lore was good too. love me some good lore
I actually really liked scarlet's character. I'll write a meta on him some other time but he probably has the clearest character development in the book. on top of that, he parallels both sun and coco, which leads to some interesting things.
the book also had some mad foreshadowing game, like holy shit
the characters introduced in the book were also really good. I know most of them probably won't ever get animated but god damn it they should
bad points
:)
where the fuck is sage. where is he. myers where did you hide him. what did he do for the entire book. I just wanna talk :)
okay but seriously where the hell is he. THIS ISN'T A GAME ANYMORE I SWEAR TO G
it couldn't stay consistent on what the "vacuan mindset" is. I have talked about this before and will do it again another day, but for now I'm going to leave it at that because I don't want to get carried away here
I just..... really didn't like team sssn's arc? it felt like the entire book they were stuck at the start of it, and then at the end of the book they were suddenly done arguing. even sun's personal development wasn't really clear, and there also wasn't really a chance for it to be shown to his teammates, which makes their sudden shift in attitude even more jarring because for all they know he's still the same sun that they're mad at
and yeah..... the amount of things this book tries to do is a con too. I was expecting so much more from the new teams, but there was hardly any focus on them. even the scenes that we had would have been fine if they explored the ramifications of these new teams more, but alas they only showed just enough that the meta writers of this fandom can piece everything together afterwards
you can include sssn's arc under things there wasn't enough time for
yeah I'm a n*ptune st*n but I think he should've had more scenes. I do like the backstory we got, and I like the small tidbits that we got for insight to his character(another meta I need to write is how analytical he is), but overall I think any character arc or even other parts of his character that would be established were more things that were discarded for time. he did get a whole chapter with lots of plot significance from his pov, though, which is way more than anything sage got
there's more things I could list but I think I've made my point. things were introduced but then discarded for time, which I think ended up being the book's biggest problem. even the wonky character arcs/characterizations could be attributed to this, because depending on the character it either feels like important scenes were left out of their arc, they were mischaracterized to make things run more smoothly to save time, or a combination of both
anyway peace out ✌

25 Days of RWBY Shipping: Day 1
Before I start, I would like to thank @incorrect-strq-quotes for the list, please go check them out!
1. Our friends keep putting mistletoe up everywhere because they know that we are secretly in love with each other. (Solarflare)
Yang Xiao Long sighed deeply. Staring at the ceiling above her, Yang silently swore to get back at her team for this. Why was she getting agitated? Because the blonde brawler had found yet another of those accursed green plants.
Mistletoe.
It was obvious what her team was angling for. Someone had been planting the decorative plant everywhere since Team SSSN had arrived. It was obvious that Yang and Sun had been spending more time with each other. Blake had clearly been feeding them ideas.
Yang reached up and snapped the mistletoe down, clenching it in her hand. At that moment, Sun walked in, monkey tail carrying a roll of gift wrap. He was clutching something in his fist.
“Hey Sun.” Yang said, deciding not to add a wink.
“Hey there.” Sun said, with a hint of agitation in his voice.
“Something wrong?” Yang asked, taking a step closer.
“Neptune being a little shit.” Sun said curtly, uncurling his fist, revealing a crushed mistletoe, “I swear, its like he’s trying to get me with someone-.”
Sun looked away, a slight blush creeping across his face, prompting a matching one to appear slower on Yang’s.
Oh god, oh shit did I give away too much, Sun thought, panicking.
Why’s he blushing? Why!? Yang thought as well.
There was a rustling over near the couch and Weiss’ head popped up, looking extremely agitated.
“JUST KISS ALREADY!” Weiss shouted, “Me and Neptune have wasted this whole weekend trying to get you two together!”
Neptune’s extremely frightened face also popped up and he hissed, “Weiss are you trying to get us killed!?”
Sun and Yang’s blushes deepened. They turned and looked at each other, both alternatingly stammering out embarrassing nothings. Eventually, Yang had enough and stepped forward, pulling Sun towards her, which was easy, considering Yang was not lacking in strength. Their lips meet in a brief kiss, that quickly deepened. But, they pulled away quickly, evil smirks adorning their faces.
“So…,” Yang said, her irises turning red, “You two have been putting those mistletoe everywhere?”
Sun said nothing, only smirking and clasping his hands together, glowing golden.
“OH SHIT!” Neptune cried, before grabbing Weiss and throwing her over his shoulder, sprinting away, despite Weiss’ protest.
Sun’s aura simmered down and Yang’s eyes returned to their normal lilac. Yang and Sun turned to look at each other again, and immediately began blushing again. Yang pulled out the mistletoe she’d taken down, hanging it back up and smirking.
“Let’s try that again Monkey Boy.”
“Anything for you babe.”
Constructive Criticism is always Welcome!

Note
Hi! I was wondering if I could get a matchup if they’re still open? I’m a biromantic female, who is usually pretty quiet. I’m pretty sarcastic when I do talk unless I’m trying to comfort or help someone. I’m very antisocial, I’m a huge otaku, and a pretty decent artist. Once I get started talking about something I like it can go on for a while. Idk if it helps any, but I due my hair pretty often. I love animals, and I love playing video games. If I need to include more, please let me know!
This is plenty enough to work with.
For this, I can see your pair as... Neptune Vasilias!
Tumblr media
Neptune seemed like the right guy, ya know? Behind the facade of the smooth talking fool, you can easily see the dork in goggles for who he is.
Neptune is use to the sarcasm. Have you seen team SSSN? He is so use to it, it is like a second language for him. Honestly he likes when you talk sarcasm to him.
Can you say *closeted otaku*? I swear Neptune is most likely into the same stuff you are, but doesn't like to talk about it. He will gush behind closed doors, and that is a special thing for you since no one else knows but you.
He loves to watch you draw. Sometimes he will jokingly do random poses when he knows you are drawing. He expects to get a laugh out of you or to be your next muse. He will always be happy to see what all you create.
Every day you dye your hair is a great day for Neptune. He loves seeing you dazzle like a prism and love to play with your hair and marvels at the brilliant color you have chosen for the time being.

Rewatching RWBY: Volume 2, Episodes 1-4 [Live Blog]
The Volume of Bees, Arkos, and just ships ahoy!
[Episode 1]
Everything looks so much better already, the quality definitely increased.
Oh hey it’s JJ. as Mercury! It’s definitely been awhile since I heard his Mercury. He deserved better from RT tbh.
So long shadow people, we hardly knew ye…..
The amount of tension… oof … my back is getting the chills….
So in code of conduct. You attempt to or leave the White Fang, you get killed….. White Fang those are some cold rules to follow by….
Speaking of the White Fang… It seems there’s signs of lingering feelings from Blake towards Adam… based off the fact she drew a picture of Adam and a rose….
Ah it’s good to see everyone again. ;w;
I’m going to miss these moments with them.
God damn it Barb.
Hello Neptune!!
Sun gushing about his new crush is adorable af omg. “The best part is, she’s a faunus” I take it he doesn’t really like humans with the exception of Team RWBY and his own team.
Omg who threw Jaune at the window? Probably Nora or Yang....
I like how they made Sun’s eyes darker to match Blake’s hair.
Sun looks happy about all this chaos. I love him.
And now for the most badass food fight in animation.
You can tell Blake is being more open and free with her friends by the episode. It’s nice. She deserves to be happy.
I remember in the trailer where Ruby was holding Weiss, they made it seem like some serious shit is going down, but no it’s from a food fight lol.
Nora sent Yang FLYIN’
Blake got BTFO’d
It’s art.
Brb crying because we don’t see them laughing together like this in Volumes 4 and 6….
“After all it isn’t a role they’ll have forever…” *Flashbacks to Volumes 4-6*
Btw, that’s Ozma.
Asdghk Emerald looks so happy and proud at what she did to Tukson when telling Cinder.
Never change Roman. Never change.
Seriously why do they need all this Dust.
Opening time!
I love that transition with Ruby in the sky and Ozpin in his tower.
THE FUCKING AUTUMN LEAVES ON PYRRHA. THEY WERE FORESHADOWING IT.
Team SSSN!! Although we won’t really see them in action until Volume 3, rip.
Team CFVY!! I love them so much aaaa.
Atlas.
Ozpin isn’t skipping leg day damn.
Okay so… They’ve constantly foreshadowed and hyped up a Weiss vs Emerald fight yet, WE STILL DON’T HAVE IT.
[Episode 2]
Holy shit Beacon looks so good in the updated visuals.
Glynda has some beef with James we still don’t know why though.
Ozma here, and yeah. So where are those people that say “Ozpin is using those students for a war!” when in reality, he hopes they never go near a war ever.
Omg the Yuigioh callbacks.
That X-Ray and Vav comic tho
Pyrrha lol!
I feel you Weiss, I feel you *looks at Mario Party*
“Hello again”  *silently weeps post Volume 3*
I swear they gave Blake the grumpy cat face (rip Tartar Sauce…)
And so S.S. Iceberg begins lmao
Seriously where is that. Beacon? The police department?
That’s Ozpin talking.
Neptune kicked everyone’s ass lmao
Weiss has definitely changed and Ruby and Yang might’ve rubbed off on her.
Blake has a point.
“I love it when you’re feisty” That’s hella gay Yang.
Haven uniforms look so nice, yet I highly doubt we’ll ever see Sun or Neptune in them.
[Episode 3]
Aw Jaune is trying, but he really needs to learn when a girl isn’t just interested in him…
Student Ozpin in the background!
OMG I MISS THESE OUTFITS WHY MUST THEY ONLY WEAR THEM ONCE
Weiss, what did you expect, Sun is a MONKEY faunus.
Weiss is starting to have a crush on Neptune, it’s cute.
Ruby is literally White Rose shippers at that moment.
Oh since they’re at Atlas now in V7, I wonder how HUGE the CCT is there, now that Weiss brought it up.
Ahhh Penny ;v;
Omg that fake smile at the end..
The moment they name dropped Winter aa…
Nuts n Doltssss <3
Did Ironwood really had to bring Atlas propaganda with him to Vale too?
I feel bad for that old man, first his shop and now his truck.
“You promise you’re my friend right?” Penny ;v;
I feel like it was somewhat obvious. Half of the fanbase was like “Oh.” and the other was like “SHE’S A ROBOT WHAT?!”
[Episode 4]
YOU ARE TO ME, PENNY ;____;
Nuts n Dolts x2 <3
I can’t wait to meet Penny’s father in Volume 7.
Ironwood… you on the other hand would send out a child onto the battlefield…
Omg what’s in there Ruby?
Ahhhh Junior!
Oh hey it’s the twins! I wonder how they’re holding up currently.
“Grimm masks… that’s kinda dark…” “So is the guy who started it,” *Looks at Adam*
Also the only time you’ll see Sun and Blake even wear those masks.
Okay so I have an issue with this. See I love Roman, but this would seem more in line with Adam’s line of work. Hell, what is Cinder making Adam do this whole time?!
…. What if Adam is the one getting those and sending them to Torchwick and the others to use.
I just realized Sun decided to button his shirt up and it looks like a male version of Blake’s top now, coincidence? I think not.
Pfft Neptune.
Hi Neo!
Jfc how fast can they run, why are the streets empty here.
I love Micheal as Sun, he’s like perfect for the guy lmao
Oh god, F in the chat for those drivers on the highway.
Neptune’s weapon is pretty dang cool.
Party time now.
I remember everyone going BONKERs over Ruby using ship names for team attacks when this episode first aired.
Blake and Weiss are so in sync right now!
That’s gotta smart for Yang.
And the fanbase went crazy over Neo too lmao.
Aghhhh Weiss no please… bad pun.
LMAO Sun and Neptune decided to chill at a noodle stand
Oh man, I really love Volume 2 guys….

interlude
Fandom: RWBY Pairing: Mainly friendship (Team RWBY friendship + Team SSSN friendship), but also Weiss Schnee/Yang Xiao Long + implied Blake Belladonna/Sun Wukong Summary: The space of time between the battle at Haven, and their departure for Atlas involves a lot of tears, a lot of anger, and lot of happiness.
Ao3
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and places belong to Rooster Teeth.
A/N: I don’t really like this one that much, but it’s been sitting in my WIP folder FOREVER now and I want to get it out of my face, so take the word vomit.
First part based on this lovely piece of art by sunbellas.
Yang studies Weiss as she talks to Team JNR, making sure that the three of them are okay – of course Weiss would be worried about everybody else when she was the one who nearly died. It still feels like a dream to her – watching Weiss come back from the brink of death the way that she did was nothing short of a miracle, and she still isn’t sure that she won’t disappear from her sight at any given moment.
“Here,” Weiss says, interrupting her thoughts. “I think you need a hand.”
Yang looks up to find Weiss extending a hand – her hand – towards her, with a small smile on her face. She blinks twice and rubs her eyes to make sure she isn’t dreaming. Because Weiss almost died, and now she’s making puns. And Yang isn’t quite sure that she didn’t die and become an angel, because she certainly shines brightly enough, and her smile makes her beautiful enough to be one.
“Yang?” she asks, her smile fading, when Yang continues to stare at her in disbelief. “Hey, it wasn’t that bad, was it?”
Yang’s eyes fill with tears and she lets out a watery laugh. “No… no, it was perfect.” She almost adds, like you, but she bites her tongue, because now is not the time nor place to talk about her growing not-so-platonic feelings for the other girl. She reaches up and grabs onto the mechanical arm, giving it a sharp tug.
“Wha –” Weiss, who didn’t have time to let go, loses her balance and tumbles forward.
Yang easily catches her before she hits the ground and pulls her into a tight hug. She buries her face into the other girl’s shoulder. “I’m just really, really glad you’re alive,” she mumbles, her voice muffled.
Weiss’s gaze softens and she relaxes into the embrace, slipping an arm around Yang to return the hug. “We’re okay. We’re all okay,” she murmurs as she tries to keep her voice from breaking – she forces down the residual fear, because somebody has to be strong, and Yang looks like she is on the brink of breaking down.
Yang sniffles quietly and swallows the lump that had formed in her throat. She doesn’t think she’s ever been that scared in her life – not when she saw Adam run a blade through Blake’s stomach, not when she woke up in bed in Patch with her right arm missing, not even when she found out her mother was capable of killing a defenseless girl – because she can probably live with all of that, but she thinks she might die if Weiss doesn’t make it.
“Please don’t do that to me again, Weiss,” she mumbles into her shoulder. “I can’t – I can’t lose you. Not like that.”
Though the memory of it is disjointed and faded, like it had happened a long time ago, she can clearly remember the fear, the feeling of cold dread that washed through her as she watched the weapon slowly fading. She trembles a little and tightens her hold around Yang’s waist to steady herself, and to reassure herself that this is very much real. She opens her mouth to say something – anything – to reassure Yang that she is here to stay, that she would never leave her like that – but her throat closes up and nothing comes out.
Yang pulls away from the hug when she feels Weiss shaking in her arms, but she keeps a tight hold on Weiss’s arm, because she still isn’t sure that Weiss isn’t an illusion that will shatter to dust if she lets go.
“Weiss? Are you okay, though?” she asks, her voice shaky.
“I – I’m fine,” Weiss says, a little breathily. “Jaune healed me, I’m fine.”
Yang shakes her head and she reaches down to run her hand gently along Weiss’s stomach, where there would have been a scar, had it not been for Jaune’s semblance. Yang thinks it’s a little unfair, because it looks too normal, like nothing had happened, but Weiss must have been terrified. She was probably still terrified. “No, I mean – I know your wound is fine, but that’s not what I meant. You almost died, Weiss.”
“But I didn’t – they’re gone, and I’m still standing here. Isn’t that all that matters?” She tilts her chin up in defiance, despite the crack in her voice.
“It’s okay if you’re not okay,” Yang says quietly, and Weiss flinches at the familiarity of the words.
“I’m really fine,” Weiss says as she gets to her feet unsteadily, pulling Yang up with her. “We’re all safe, and we’re finally all together again. How could I possibly not be okay? As long as I have you guys, I’ll be fine.” She takes Yang’s hand and gives her a reassuring smile that does nothing to assuage her fears.
Yang frowns, but doesn’t press the matter, because she knows that it’s a difficult thing to talk about, and that Weiss is going to need time to herself to process what’s really happened, and to accept the fact that she almost died, before she is really ready to talk to somebody else about it. So instead, she squeezes Weiss’s hand gently. “I can promise you that you’ll always have us, Weiss. And I’ll be here for you when you’re ready to talk.”
Weiss gives her a soft smile – the softest she’s ever seen on the other girl’s face – and she doesn’t think she’s ever seen anything so beautiful in her life. It makes her want to lean over and kiss her, but she refrains, because time and place.
“Thank you, Yang.”
Blake raises an eyebrow at Sun and gestures towards the door. “Well? What are you waiting for?”
He reaches up, his hand curled into a fist, but then lets it fall back down. He shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans, and rocks back and forth on the balls of his feet. “Do you think they’ll be mad at me for leaving them?”
She blinks in surprise – this is not a side of Sun that she’s seen before. He had always been so laidback and sure of himself. “Of course they won’t, Sun. They’re your friends, and they’ll love you no matter how many stupid decisions you make. If my teammates could accept me for running away the way that I did, I think your teammates can accept you for going off to protect a friend.”
He exhales nervously and hesitantly raps his knuckles against the door.
The door swings open to reveal Sage’s hulking form. His eyes widen and he freezes for a fraction of a second as he takes in the sight of Sun on his doorstep, a nervous smile on his face. And then he reaches over and punches Sun square in the jaw.
Sun clamps his hand over his jaw, where he’s sure there will be a bruise later, and his eyes widen in shock. “Hey!” he exclaims. “What the hell, Sage!”
“No note, no phone calls, nothing! For the past five months, we haven’t heard from you once. The last time we spoke to you, you told us you were helping Blake go after the White Fang! We had no idea if you were still alive! Would it have killed you to at least write a letter or something so we knew you were okay?” Sage thunders.
Blake winces at his angry tone and takes a step back. “Hey, Sage,” she says in an attempt to redirect his anger – after all, it’s her fault that Sun never made it back to his teammates in Mistral.
“Blake,” Sage says, the anger disappearing as quickly as it had appeared. He blinks like he doesn’t believe she is standing there.
“I – ” She starts.
Sage reaches over and pulls her into a tight hug, cutting off whatever she was going to say. “I didn’t think we would ever see you again.”
Blake feels the guilt pooling in her stomach – the guilt that has been festering in her mind since she left Beacon, the guilt that has grown exponentially since Sun had talked some sense into her – and she feels herself shrinking in on herself. “I’m sorry,” she mumbles into his chest. She buries her face into his shoulder – she had forgotten how comforting Sage’s calm presence could be.
“I’m not mad at you,” he rumbles. “I’m sure you had your reasons for leaving.”
“Hey!” Sun complains. “How come she gets a free pass while I get a punch in the face?”
Sage releases Blake, and turns to glare at Sun. “She’s not our teammate, Sun, and she can take care of herself.”
“Why are you yelling, Sage?” Neptune ducks under Sage’s arm, with Scarlet in tow, to see what the commotion is about, and stares disbelievingly at Blake and Sun. And then he reaches over and punches Sun in the shoulder.
“What the hell, Nep!” he yelps, trying futilely to block the onslaught of punches raining down on him. “I hate you guys so much!”
“I have half a mind to stab you for leaving us hanging like that!” The punches die off and the relief in the air is palpable. “You said you were going to catch up! It shouldn’t take five months to catch up! You could have been dying in an abandoned alleyway for all we knew!”
Blake freezes at Neptune’s words, because even though she knows he’s only kidding, she can’t get the image of Sun’s unconscious body out of her mind, and she shivers at the memory.
Sun takes her hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze. “Hey, I’m fine,” he says.
This doesn’t go unnoticed by Neptune, and he exchanges a worried look with Sage. “Blake? What’s wrong?” he asks.
Sun reaches up with his other hand and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. “It’s kind of a long story,” he mumbles. One that he had been hoping he wouldn’t have to recount to his friends, because he’s sure they’re worried enough about him without knowing that he almost died.
“Well, you can tell us all about it over dinner,” Scarlet says stoutly. “And I swear to dust, Sun, if you ran off for five months to court Blake and didn’t tell us anything, I will murder you.” He gestures towards their linked hands before turning back around and re-entering the house.
“You almost died?” Neptune bursts out. He turns to Blake and jabs his chopsticks in Sun’s general direction. “See? This is why we can never let him go off on his own – he doesn’t know what danger is! He needs a babysitter at all times.”
“Hey! That’s not true!” Sun interjects.
“It is,” Sage rumbles. “Remember that time when you thought it would be a good idea to take on a hoard boarbatusks by yourself instead of waking us up? And on our first mission, no less. You’re lucky we found you before you got mauled.”
“I had it under control!” Sun whines.
“Yea, because aura depletion and being pinned down by a boarbatusk constitutes having things ‘under control’,” Scarlet retorts sarcastically. “He’s a walking deathtrap.”
Sun grumbles incoherently, but says nothing to deny the fact.
“Did Sun ever tell you about the time that he ran across campus in his underwear – hey!” he snaps when a dumpling hits him square in the face. He wipes his face with his napkin and turns to level a glare in Sun’s direction. “Not cool, man.”
“Neither is telling Blake embarrassing stories about me,” he grumbles. He sulkily stuffs a dumpling into his mouth.
“He’s only mad because he likes you, and I’m making him look bad,” Scarlet whispers to her as he nudges her with his elbow.
If Sun hears his teammate’s remark, he chooses to ignore it, and Blake is grateful, because while she’s aware that his feelings for her extend far beyond friendship, she doesn’t think it’s an appropriate time or place to be discussing it.
“Why was he running around in his underwear?” she asks, redirecting their attention away from Scarlet’s statement.
“Blake!” Sun whines half-heartedly. “Stop encouraging him.”
“Because he was dumb enough to think that dumping Neptune in the local swimming pool would somehow help him get over his aquaphobia,” Sage says, completely ignoring Sun, as he helps himself to more rice.
“I’m not afraid of water!” Neptune scowls.
“Sure, you’re not,” Scarlet says as he waves his hands dismissively. “Anyways, Neptune was pissed and took his clothes while he was still in the pool –”
“One of these days, I’ll get you back,” Sun grumbles.
“At least I left your underwear – I could have just as easily taken everything and let you run around naked.”
“Here, we have pictures,” Scarlet says, effectively cutting them off before they can start a full-blown argument. He pulls his scroll out of his pocket.
“Scarlet!” Sun howls, his face reddening. He picks up another dumpling and flings it across the table at his teammate. “Shut up.”
This time, Scarlet is ready and he easily dodges. “I mean, it’s not much different from what he usually wears,” he continues as if having dumplings thrown at him was a regular occurrence. He gestures towards Sun’s unbuttoned shirt, and then winks at Blake. “I doubt you mind though, am I right?”
Blake flushes, because she would be lying through her teeth if she said she hadn’t caught herself staring at Sun’s abs on a few different occasions. She opens her mouth to give a response, but another dumpling hits Scarlet in the face before she has the chance.
“Stop that!” Scarlet growls, turning to glare in Sun’s direction. He gets out of his seat, picks up his bowl of rice and throws it at Sun.
“I present to you, Team SSSN, the future protectors of Remnant,” Sage sighs. He takes Scarlet’s seat and continues to calmly eat his dinner.
“Um…shouldn’t we stop them?” Blake asks apprehensively as she watches Neptune pour a cup of tea down the back of Sun’s shirt.
“You know there’s no stopping those idiots once they get started.” He gives her a sidelong glance, observing quietly as Blake watches his team’s antics with a fond, nostalgic smile on her face. “Well, they may be idiots, but they’re still our idiots.”
His words seem to break her out of her reverie, and she turns back to him, her smile still in place. “Yes,” she agrees, “they are.”
“We really are glad that the two of you are okay.” He holds up a hand to stop her when she opens her mouth to apologize. “Don’t apologize, Blake. We get why you left, and we were okay with Sun following you. And at the end of the day, all that matters is that you two are here, and you’re safe.”
Blake breathes a sigh of relief. She hadn’t realized how worried she was about Team SSSN’s reaction to her leaving or her coming back – after all, she was more worried about her own team – but hearing Sage say that, seeing how open and friendly the team still is with her, feels like a heavy weight being lifted off her chest. “I’m glad to see that nothing has changed. I think it’ll be good for him to be back with his team for a while. Maybe get away from all the fighting.”
“What do you mean?” he asks. He retains his calm demeanour, but his voice is surprised.
“I – I haven’t told Sun yet, but… we’re going to Atlas. As soon as we’re recovered.”
“And you don’t want to bring him with you?” he guesses.
“It’s not that I don’t want him to come along, but…” she bites her lip and glances back at the laughing trio. “I – I don’t want to take him away from his friends again, and I can’t risk him getting hurt because of me.”
“You know he’ll never let you go off on your own, right? And you’re probably going to need all the help you can get.”
She frowns, because while she knows that he is right, she desperately wants to keep Sun away from Adam and Salem, and whatever other harm might befall him if he goes with her.
“Where are we going?” Sun asks, bounding back to his seat, followed by the rest of Team SSSN.
Sage gives her a very pointed look and she heaves a defeated sigh. “Atlas,” she mutters through gritted teeth. “We’re going to Atlas.”
“Well we’re coming with you guys this time, because there’s no way we’re letting you guys run off by yourselves again. Not after this guy –” Scarlet jerks his thumb in Sun’s general direction, “—almost died. He clearly needs some form of adult supervision at all times.”
“Yes,” Sage murmurs, a note of finality in his tone. “We have to make sure the idiot doesn’t get himself killed.”
And despite Sun’s grumbling and complaints, she doesn’t miss the bright smile that appears on his face. He might not show it, but he’s definitely missed his team.
Blake looks up in surprise when Yang takes a seat across the table from her. She isn’t sure how Yang managed to find her in the first place, since she’s at a small hole-in-the-wall kind of café that would be difficult to find if somebody wasn’t specifically looking for it. And she knows it’s not the kind of place that Yang would be looking for.
“Don’t look so surprised,” she says, her voice casual as she signals the waiter over and orders a coffee. “Sun told me you’d be here.”
“Of course he did,” she mutters. She closes the book she’d been reading and shifts in her seat so she’s fully facing Yang. It’s the first time that she’s been alone with Yang since the fall of Beacon – since she ran away – and she’s not sure what to expect. But Yang doesn’t look angry, or even upset; there’s a calmness that Blake rarely ever sees in her.
She’s thought about it – what to say when she sees Yang again, that is. She has a whole script written in her head of what she wants to say, how she wants to apologize, but she can’t bring herself to say any of it, because if there is one thing that Yang wouldn’t want, it’s a scripted apology. Instead, the words “I’m sorry” tumble out of her mouth before she can stop them.
“Why did you do it?” she asks. Her hand trembles, and she tightens her grip on her coffee mug. “Why did you leave? Ruby, Weiss – we were all here for you. Nobody blamed you for what happened – you didn’t have to run away from us.”
She had confessed her fears to Sun – that her friends would hate her for leaving, that they wouldn’t take her back when she returned, or worse, that they hadn’t cared at all that she left. And he had assured her that that could never be true, because her friends loved her, and he had said it in that reassuring, genuine way of his that somehow always makes her think that he might actually be right. But now, as she stares at the forlorn look on Yang’s face, she isn’t so sure.
Blake looks down in shame and stares at her own reflection as it ripples on the surface of her tea. She thinks of how fragile a relationship can be – one wrong move and the whole thing can shatter. But then she thinks of how resilient her faith and trust in Adam had been, how many wrong moves he had made, and how many times she had forgiven him before she had finally had enough. And while she hopes that Yang isn’t as blind or naïve as she was back then, she hopes she will at least give her a second chance.
She finally looks up and Yang falters at the sheer desperation in her expression. “It didn’t matter that you guys didn’t blame me,” she says haltingly. “I blamed myself – it was my fault. He promised – he said he would take away everything I cared about. And I’ve known him long enough to know that he isn’t one for idle threats. You’ve seen what he’s capable of – he won’t stop at anything to kill you all.”
“And you think you could take him on all by yourself? He sliced through my arm like it was nothing – he would destroy you.”
“You think I didn’t know that when I ran? Of course I knew I didn’t stand a chance. I spent most of my life by his side – I know how powerful he is. I wasn’t planning to go after Adam, and if he came after me, then at the very least, I knew you guys would be safe. You, Ruby and Weiss are important to me. I wasn’t expecting to make friends when I came to Beacon, but somehow, the three of you became some of the most important people in my life, and I… I couldn’t stand the thought of any of you getting hurt. Especially because of me.”
“We can take care of ourselves, Blake! We aren’t children, and we’re well aware of the risks that we’re taking. Did you really think we would love you any less because of something that somebody else did?”
“I know,” Blake whispers, tears filling her eyes, “I know that. But you got hurt! If it wasn’t for my relationship with Adam, you would have been fine. I – I felt so scared and guilty, and I didn’t know what to do, so I did what I do best – I ran!”
“But you came back. I mean, I’m glad you did, but Adam is still out there, and like you said, he won’t stop. So why did you come back?”
“It was Sun. He made me realize that I wasn’t doing you guys any favours by running away; he made me realize that you guys are with me because you want to be, regardless of how dangerous or risky that might be.”
“That boy is a lot less stupid than people give him credit for,” Yang says, giving her a small smile – a peace offering of sorts.
She breathes a soft sigh of relief. She had been expecting a lot of yelling and screaming, or at least the cold shoulder, but Yang seems to have pretty much forgiven her completely. “You are taking this far better than I was expecting,” she admits.
“It’s been a long time,” she says. “I won’t lie to you and say that I was never mad – I was really angry for a really long time. You left, Blake. You left when I was at my most vulnerable; you left, knowing that I’ve always had issues with being left behind.” She curls her hand into a fist and takes a steadying breath – it wouldn’t do to get riled up now. “You left without any explanation, without a goodbye, and it was just… all too familiar to me.
“I didn’t understand it then; maybe I was too upset to bother trying to understand why you left – it was easier just to blame you. But it’s been five months, and that’s a long time for me to think about it. And Weiss – Weiss helped. She helped me really understand why you did what you did. And even though I don’t completely agree with your way of thinking, I get it.”
“I am sorry,” she offers quietly. “I honestly didn’t care what you guys would think of me for running away. Well, I did care, but it didn’t matter – all that mattered was that you guys were safe.”
“Well, like Ruby said, what matters now is that we’re all together. Just don’t do it again.” She sends a glare in Blake’s direction, but softens it with a smile, so that she knows she’s not really angry.
Blake relaxes a little in her seat and returns the smile with one of her own. “I won’t. Thank you…for understanding.”
“You have Weiss to thank for that,” Yang says. “Otherwise you would have had to do a lot more grovelling to get me to forgive you.”
Blake takes a sip of her tea. “You and Weiss?” she asks after a small pause.
Yang feigns ignorance and gives her a questioning look. “What about me and Weiss?” she asks.
She rolls her eyes and gives her a small smile. “You two certainly seem to be a lot closer than I remember – I mean, we all saw the hug that you gave her.”
“I guess. I mean, I think after being apart for so long, we all just need some time together.”
“You didn’t hug anybody else like that,” Blake points out, her eyes twinkling.
“And you definitely joke more than you did before. Which I guess isn’t saying very much, because you didn’t joke much before – or at all.” Yang smirks at her. “Was that Sun’s influence?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she retorts. She looks away, hoping that Yang doesn’t see the redness creeping up her cheeks.
Yang grins. “What? Don’t tease me about Weiss if you can’t take the heat yourself.”
Blake mumbles something incoherent under her breath. She misses this – she hadn’t realized it while she was in Menagerie, but she misses Yang’s familiar banter, and she’s glad that amidst all the chaos and destruction, she hasn’t lost the carefree part of her personality. She reaches over and takes Yang’s hand, giving it a quick squeeze. “I’ve missed you guys a lot,” she admits. “I’ve missed my best friend too.”
She could have easily laughed or made a joke, and played off how much she actually missed Blake in the five months that they were apart, but she doesn’t. Instead, she smiles and says, “I’ve missed you too,” and it’s like the tension, and the five months apart disappear, and they’re just two best friends catching up at a café without a care in the world.
If Yang had to describe Weiss in one word, it would be graceful. Even when she fights, she looks like she’s dancing, and her sword is and just an extension of herself. The way she jumps and twirls, hopping from one Glyph to another is mesmerizing, and Yang can’t tear her eyes away.
“She’s certainly learned a few new tricks,” Ruby muses as she watches Blake and Weiss spar. “I’ve never seen her summon anything before.”
Yang turns to her sister and grins. “You haven’t seen anything yet. And your hand-to-hand combat has gotten a lot better. You handled yourself pretty well without Crescent Rose.”
“I learned that from Oscar,” she says proudly. “Well, I guess it was Professor Ozpin, but same difference.”
“You –” she cuts herself off and snaps her head back towards the battlefield when she hears a frightened scream. Her eyes widen in surprise at the sight of the boarbatusk, the rapier wasp, and the knight that Weiss had summoned. She didn’t think it was possible for her to summon that many at once. She tears her eyes away from the Grimm to Weiss, and watches her draw up an ice wall, closing herself in, and sending Blake flying backwards.
“Weiss?” she manages to get out, her voice tinged with panic. This time, she is the first one to break out of the shock that overcame the three of them, and she finds herself running towards Weiss without even thinking about it. “Weiss!” she yells as she bangs her fist against the unrelenting ice. “Weiss!”
“Get out of the way!” Ruby orders in such a commanding voice that Yang doesn’t even think of disobeying.
Yang turns around to find her sister wielding Crescent Rose, ready to fire towards the ice, and jumps out of the line of fire. “What happened?” she demands of Blake, even though she thinks she might already know the answer.
“I – I don’t know,” she says, sounding slightly disoriented. She pushes herself into a sitting position and rubs the back of her head. “We were just sparring, but then she started screaming. I think she said something about Cinder. She looked terrified, Yang.”
The sound of the ice cracking pulls Yang’s attention away from their conversation, and she runs towards Weiss’s unconscious body. She releases the breath she’d been holding when she sees the steady rise and fall of Weiss’s chest. She gently lifts her from the debris and pulls her into a protective hug.
“Maybe we should bring her to Uncle Qrow,” Ruby suggests worriedly as she jogs over. “Or Professor Ozpin.”
“R-right,” Yang stutters as she clumsily tries to pick Weiss up, because her heart is still racing in her chest and her fingers are frozen with fear.
“I’ve got her,” Blake says gently. She reaches over to take the unconscious girl, but Yang, despite her trembling hands, keeps a tight grip on her. “Yang, you’re going to drop her.”
Reluctantly, she lets Blake take Weiss, but she keeps a hold of her hand the whole way into the hotel, where Ozpin and her uncle are talking.
“What the hell happened?” Uncle Qrow demands, jumping up from his seat on the couch when he sees Weiss, unconscious in Blake’s arms.
“Help her,” Yang pleads desperately, as if she didn’t hear the question. “Please, Uncle Qrow.”
Qrow curses under his breath as he takes Weiss from Blake. “You three, stay here. Oz and I will make sure she’s okay.” He doesn’t wait for any of them to say anything before he disappears into Weiss and Blake’s hotel room.
She moves to follow, but Blake stops her with a hand on her shoulder. “Let them figure it out,” she says quietly. “There’s nothing you can do for her.” She sits down on the sofa and pulls Yang down with her. “Do you know what happened?”
Yang leans over and buries her face in her hands as she tries to swallow the fear that is building up in her throat. “I have a pretty good idea. I think she saw Cinder,” she says after a short pause.
“Cinder?”
She looks up and rubs her eyes tiredly. “Yea. Weiss – she almost died. During the battle. Cinder almost killed her. She – she wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for Jaune.”
“Oh.” Blake frowns at her hands, wondering if something she did during their spar triggered Weiss. “I – I had no idea.”
Yang feels the old anger flaring up again, because Blake should have been there to help Weiss, and if she had been, maybe Weiss would have been okay. There’s a small, rational part of her that’s telling her she’s being unfair, but unable to stop herself, her eyes flash red and she lashes out, “You would have known if you hadn’t left us. You could have been there for her.”
Blake falters, because this is the first time that Yang has shown any anger towards her for running, and she flinches at the harsh tone, guilt gnawing at her conscience. She has to remind herself that Yang’s anger stems mostly from her panic at seeing Weiss’s unconscious form, and not (she hopes) resentment towards her, even if she would be justified in her anger.
She sighs, her eyes slowly fading back to lavender. “I’m sorry,” she says, sounding regretful. “I – I don’t mean that. I’m just worried. She just recovered from having almost died, and seeing her unconscious again is just a little much right now.”
Blake shakes her head. “It’s fine. I get it, you’re scared. She’s strong, Yang. She’s going to be okay.”
“I hope so, Blake. I really hope so.”
Weiss feels like she’s falling. She reaches a hand out, but there is nothing but the expanse of blackness that surrounds her.  She opens her mouth to scream, but nothing comes out, and it feels like the blackness is closing in around her, drowning her in nothingness, and she’s suffocating.
She bolts upright in bed, gasping for breath. She hunches forward and draws in a few deep breaths, trying to steady her beating heart. Squeezing her eyes shut to keep the tears from falling, she lets a quiet sob escape, and her shoulders tremble. Dreams were supposed to fade, but the feeling of darkness pulling her down, suffocating her, and the lack of air in her lungs still feels so real.
“—eiss. Weiss. Weiss!”
Somebody tries to wrap an arm around her shoulder, and panic sets in. She weakly shoves them away, and instinctively reaches for Myrtenaster. But it isn’t there. So instead, she blindly throws a punch. But she was never one for hand-to-hand combat, and they easily catch her fist, gently uncurling her fingers and slipping their hand in hers to give her a reassuring squeeze. Only then does her vision start to clear, and she finds Yang sitting in a chair next to her bed, a concerned expression on her face.
“Hey, hey. It’s okay. You’re okay, I got you.” She takes a seat on the bed next to Weiss and pulls her into a hug and cradles her head with her other hand, gently smoothing her hair down.
Weiss rests her chin on Yang’s shoulder and stares unseeingly at the wall in front of her, as Yang whispers comforting words into her ear. The tears slide silently down her cheeks and land on Yang’s shoulder, forming a wet splotch on her shirt.
“Are you going to tell me what happened?” Yang asks quietly. She wants to give her space to recover. She wants to give her room to breathe and think. But there just isn’t time for that.
“I don’t know,” Weiss whispers, her voice hoarse. “I think I just need to rest.”
“Bullshit!” Yang says, a steely edge to her voice. She pulls away from the hug so that she can look the other girl in the eyes. “That’s bullshit, and you know it. You didn’t completely lose control of your Semblance because you weren’t sleeping enough. Stop pretending like everything is okay! You’re not okay, and if you keep suppressing everything the way that you’re doing right now, you’re never going to be okay! Damn it, Weiss, you are one of the most important people in my life, and I can’t bear to see you get hurt! So please. Talk to me! It’s killing me to see you hurting like this!”
“I’m okay, I’m okay, I’m okay,” she repeats over and over. But there’s an undertone of desperation, and she’s not sure if she’s trying to convince Yang or herself.
“No, you’re not! And it’s okay that you’re not, but don’t push us out! We want to help you, and you’re not letting us.”
“I don’t need your help – I just need some time to myself! Why can’t you leave me alone?!”
“Because I love you, okay? I love you and I don’t want to – I can’t – watch you die again.”
“But I – what?” Weiss stutters, her sentence coming to a halt as Yang’s words finally sink in.
“I love you, Weiss” she says, her voice softening, and the anger melting off her face. She tenderly cups Weiss’s face with both her hands. “I love you. So please, stop shutting us out. If not for yourself, then for the people who care for you. For the people who don’t want to see you get hurt. For me.”
Weiss leans into her hands and closes her eyes, and she sags against Yang. And it’s like the barrier – the walls that she surrounded herself with – is finally breaking, because while she’s a Schnee, with a heart of ice, and blood that runs blue, she’s also Weiss, fragile and broken, with so much love that she doesn’t know what to do with it. And she can’t, won’t, keep hiding behind the mask of a cold, unfeeling Schnee, because she is Weiss first, and a Schnee second.
“It’s just – it’s all just too much to handle,” she murmurs, her bottom lip quavering. “I – I really thought I was okay. Everything was fine – until today.”
Yang waits quietly, patiently, for her to continue, because this moment seems so fragile, like glass, and it might shatter if she opens her mouth.
“I thought… I thought it was her. When Blake threw Gambol Shroud at me, I saw her, and I – I panicked. I don’t remember much else after that,” she admits in a soft whisper. “What happened?”
“You collapsed, Weiss,” Yang says quietly. “Uncle Qrow said that your Aura was depleted. Not surprising, considering how you summoned three things at once and erected an ice barrier. We thought you were going to be out for much longer. We pushed the departure back a few days to let you recuperate.”
Weiss exhales slowly. “How – how can I fight with you guys when I’m like this? I – I don’t want to be a burden.”
“You’re not a burden, Weiss – you’re never going to be a burden. You will be fine – I promise it gets better, but it won’t happen overnight. What you need right now is rest. You’re exhausted, Weiss, mentally and physically exhausted.”
“I cant – there’s no time for that!” She goes to stand up, but Yang grabs her wrist, keeping her in place.
She leans over and presses her lips against Weiss’s, and there’s the sweet taste of vanilla mixed with the saltiness of the tears sliding down Weiss’s face, and there’s something sweet and sad and melancholic about the kiss.
Weiss leans into the kiss, returning it with a touch of desperation, because it still feels like a dream to her, and she wants so badly for it to be real. She pulls away slowly and stares at Yang’s tired face.
“Rest, Weiss. Please,” she pleads. She gently pushes her back into bed.
Weiss hesitates, wondering to herself if she’ll be overstepping her boundaries, and really unsure of what to say. “Uh…” she shifts over to give Yang space. “Stay with me,” she blurts out, and it comes out sounding more like a question than a demand, which was what she intended (because she was never taught to ask for something). She flushes at how awkward she must have sounded. “Only if you want to,” she adds in a rushed voice when Yang just stares at her with wide eyes.
She starts panicking, although she tries not to let it show, because maybe she is overstepping. She doesn’t know what affection looks like, because her parents have never been affectionate with each other, and her sister – she cares, of course she cares, but she’s far from affectionate. But Weiss wants the affection – she wants to feel Yang’s warmth against her skin, she wants to feel Yang’s arms around her making her feel safe, she wants to be so close to Yang that she can feel her heart beating and hear her breathing. Weak, she can hear her father telling her. ‘Affection will only make you weak.’ But that can’t be right, because Yang is the warmest, most loving person that she knows, and she’s also one of the strongest.
She opens her mouth to take back her request, to apologize for making assumptions, but Yang smiles, and she feels like she forgot how to talk.
Yang crawls under the blanket next to her and envelopes her into a hug. “Anything for you.”  She kisses the top of Weiss’s head. “Now, please go to sleep.”
Weiss gives a watery laugh and curls into Yang and finally lets her eyelids shut. This time, no nightmares plague her dreams.
A/N: Awkward ending is awkward as usual. I don’t even know what this is anymore, but take it before I hate it even more.

JNPR Headcanons (sorry, it's long)
•It’s obvious that Ren & Nora, and Jaune & Pyrrha are besties. But Ren & Jaune are bros while Nora & Pyrrha are like sisters
•Actually, the team is one family
•Edit: Everyone on this show has their own inner demons just like we do. They’re not perfect and they struggle with their own issues, team JNPR especially -Jaune really cares about what others think of him and works so hard to be a hero and lovable and kind -Nora is sort of the same way only her anxiety manifests itself as constantly moving and babbling. She really tries not to come off as a pest (& she isn’t) bc she doesn’t want anymore people leaving her (bc they always do). Sometimes the words of others effect her more than she let’s on (which leads to issues w/ her & Ren later in their relationship) -Pyrrha cares more about people seeing her for who she really is. She not a trophy that’s won. She’s not a centerpiece. She’s Pyrrha -Ren doesn’t really try to be more sociable. He knows that his quietness comes off as being shy, but those who know him know that he simply doesn’t have much to say. He does make his opinions known, though, and when he speaks more, you know that he thinks you’re trustworthy. His main issue is talking about what’s wrong. He gets so silent when he’s upset or angry. The only person that can crack him is his best friend.
•Jaune & Ren take turns being the dad (Jaune is Daddy Jaune in battle, Ren is Daddy Ren any other time)
•Pyrrha is mommy all the time
•When Jaune sees Nora, he thinks of one of his younger sisters & it makes him feel a bit less homesick
•Nora loves getting the team to do crazy shit like JNPR tattoos, sky diving, & swimming w/ Grimm sharks
•Speaking of tats -They all have a JNPR tat with juniper berries & one of their emblem -Nora has lighting bolts, boop, & a syrup bottle -Jaune has a heart with ‘Arc Family’ on it -Ren has the date of the attack on his village & Nora’s emblem -Pyrrha has ‘Destiny’ written in a flower and her kids names
•As stated before, Nora & Pyrrha’s periods sync up and their boys handle it well
•Jaune bc he has sisters who go through the same thing & Ren bc he’s been with Nora forever
•Nora likes cuddles, heat, massages, sleep, & food during that time. She’s actually kind of of quiet during that time & a little more mopey
•Pyrrha is very irritable during that time and enjoys solitude unless she’s w/ Nora
•Birds of a feather suffer together
•The dress Jaune wore is actually Coco’s
•Bets get insane, esp when RWBY, CVFY, & SSSN are involved
•They do tons of partner sparring, but they love team sparring (every man for themselves)
•Nora & Pyrrha are the most well rounded with everyone else’s weapons, Ren coming after, & Jaune is last
•Pyrrha is the first awake to run, Nora gets up no later than 7 every morning, Jaune trudges along, Ren sleeps in bc fuck mornings
•They do team studying a lot which entails quizzes with candy for those who get questions right and punishment for getting it wrong
•It’s the only way Jaune or Nora will study for anything
•Jaune & Nora aren’t dumb. Jaune genuinely doesn’t get it sometimes and gets bored in class. Nora is smart, but lazy
•Pyrrha’s favorite class is Port’s. His lectures are interesting
•Jaune’s favorite class is… probably none… he’s not doing well in any right now…
•Nora’s favorite classes are Oobleck’s (watching him zip around is fun), Peach’s (science and explosions), Goodwitch’s (fighting), & her math class
•She’s a wiz at math
•Ren enjoys Port’s and Goodwitch’s classes
•They have a system where they copy Pyrrha’s notes if they miss something (they’re detailed af)
•Pyrrha is easily scared and reacts a little violently (punching shit) and she doesn’t do supernatural shit ever
•Edit: they’re all pretty chill about hanging around the dorm in undies and bras (it took Jaune some time, though)
•Jaune & Nora are DC fans. Ren & Pyrrha are Marvel fans. All enjoy X-ray and Vav
•They totally go to comic cons, cosplay, & gaming conventions together. You cannot tell me otherwise
•Passing the aux chord isn’t normally an issue until someone (Nora and Jaune) starts playing showtunes & rapping to Hamilton
•Ren is the only one who appreciates Yang’s puns
•Jaune & Ren are skilled cooks and normally don’t allow Pyrrha or Nora to help, but they do sometimes cut veggies and stir (Nora, stop adding spices right now! Pyrrha, do you even know what oregano is?)
•Jaune loves dead memes & is still raving about deez nuts & Harambe
•The group chat on ChatSnap is a total mess & any important info gets burried under memes, selfies, and videos -Nora’s CS is mostly pictures of her team & friends -Ren’s is filled with professional photos w/ some deep caption -Pyrrha’s is clumsily trying to figure what she’s doing -Jaune has awkward selfies & recordings of Pyrrha when she’s off guard
•Sailors!!! -Nora isn’t as bad as Yang or Qrow, but she’s no saint with cursing -Ren doesn’t curse… out loud -Jaune doesn’t unless he’s irritated -You’d have to really push Pyrrha past her breaking point to get her to say fuck
•Edit: they totally have a naughty jar for swearing & making inappropriate jokes
•Edit: Nora is the go to person for charging scrolls, but is also the person to break them
•Edit: I like to think that she could be a defibrillator
•They often spend holiday break with Jaune’s family
•Ren, Nora, & Pyrrha have practically been adopted into the family
•Jaune’s older sisters work hard to get them all paired together-together
•If Pyrrha gets hurt, Jaune is worried but he’s not freaking out. He knows she can handle herself
•If Nora is hurt, Ren cannot focus & goes on a killing spree
•Jaune & Ren’s bro time is spent cooking, watching anime, or just talking
•They went to the doubles round during their 2nd year at Beacon -Nora & Pyr the first year
•They mostly enjoy video games! -Jaune is more into games like Myth of Welda, Remnant Bound, Underneath Remnant tale (totally uncreative), & trivia games -Pyrrha likes the games at the arcade where you shoot stuff & party games (Xario Cart, Xario Partee, and Xario and Tonic at the Extremely Hard & Profesional Games) -Nora likes anything violent (esp GTA) -Ren doesn’t play very often, but is a God at rhythm/dance games (with Nora, those two are unbeatable & always get a perfect score)
•Drinking -Nora is energetic, a little destructive after a few, & cannot hold her liquor -Pyrrha is seductive af, but she rarely gets that far. Only once or twice -Jaune is sleepier & clingy -Ren very rarely drinks & can hold it exceedingly well
•Team bonding is normally spent watching a movie with pizza and cookies, bowling, arcades, or going out to dinner
•All team activities are classified as a double date when they’re dating
•Renora dated first, then Arkos
•There was a brief period where Nora actually broke up with Ren & Pyrrha was with her while Ren was with Jaune until they figured things out (I may write something on it later)
•However, it was Arkos that got married first
•The team are maids of honor & best men at each other’s weddings
•Pyrrha laced her bouquet with metal to control where it landed after she threw it (Nora “caught” it) -Ren proposed soon after in a quieter place
•If the couples argue, one normally goes to the other couple’s house to vent and cool down before going home
•Renora had 3 kids: Kensley, Ming, & Iman (adopted)
•Arkos had twins Louise & Eros
•Before the kids came, they went on team missions very often. After they’re all out of the house, they start again
•They also go on partner missions & swap who goes with who each time (Jaune/Nora, Ren/Pyrrha, couples, guys, girls)
•They often go on family vacations together & celebrate holidays because they’re one big family
•Pyrrha & Nora retire to teach at Signal
•Jaune & Ren join them soon afterwards

Fandom: RWBY Pairing: Blake Belladonna/Sun Wukong Summary: Sometimes home isn’t four walls; it’s two eyes and a heartbeat. But oh, how easily all of that can come crumbling down.  FF.net
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and places belong to Rooster Teeth
A/N: Have some blacksun word vomit, because I am trash and their interactions this volume are killing me. Half inspired by Blake’s “word for a person” thing. Although every blacksun shipper probably wants it to be “love”, I’d like to think Blake thinks of Sun as “home”.
Blake groaned sleepily as the familiar vibration of a scroll call pulled her from her dreams. She rolled over onto the other side of the bed, half expecting to snuggle into Sun’s warmth, only to find his side of the bed empty. Sighing as she remembered that Team SSSN was still away on a mission, she sat up and grabbed her scroll off the dresser. A quick glance at the clock told her that it was four in the morning.
She frowned – phone calls at this time of night usually didn’t amount to anything good, especially for a Huntress. “Hello?” she asked, her voice heavy with sleep.
“Hey Blake.” Sun’s voice carried through the scroll.
Had she been a little more alert, paid a little more attention, she would have noticed the slight tremble in his voice, the quiet, but sharp, intake of breath at the end of the greeting. But it was the middle of the night, and her sleep-addled brain let the small details slip under her radar.
“Sun?” she blearily tried to rub the sleep from her eyes. “Is something wrong? Do you know what time it is?”
“Yea, sorry. I woke you, didn’t I? Of course I did – it’s four in the morning. Sorry.”
“No, it’s okay. Being woken in the middle of the night kind of comes with being a Huntress. What’s wrong? Are you and your team okay?”
“Yea, no, no. We’re fine, everybody is fine.” A muffled grunt. “I just couldn’t sleep, that’s all. I think I miss you too much.”
She smiled, a faint blush colouring her cheeks. “I miss you too, Sun.” Quietly, she slipped out of bed and padded, barefoot, across their apartment to the kitchen. She squished her scroll between her ear and shoulder, and started filling the kettle with water. “How much longer do you think you and your team will be out there for?”
“A couple more days at most,” he said, his voice sounding oddly tinny.
Blake frowned. Was it her imagination or did it sound like Sun was running out of breath? Or was it just bad connection? She opened her mouth to ask, again, if he was alright, but he spoke over her.
“There’s just a lot of Grimm here… More than we’d been expecting. We were hoping to get back last week. I think we’re all really excited to be coming back to see some familiar faces. Especially Neptune. He really wants to get back so he can tease Weiss and Yang.”
Blake let out a soft chuckle. “Who spilled? Weiss has been working up the courage to let him know when you guys got back.”
“Scarlet – you know how he loves to run his big mouth.”
“Are you sure it wasn’t you?” she teased. “You always were terrible at keeping a secret from Neptune.”
He let out a breathy laugh. “Yea. Yang made me promise not to say anything. Well, she threatened me, really, and I really don’t want her to break my legs. But I can see why they wanted to tell him themselves, Neptune being Weiss’s ex-boyfriend and all.”
“Hmm,” she hummed in agreement, and the conversation dropped off into a comfortable silence, punctuated only by Sun’s heavy breathing.
“Are you making tea?” he huffed out when the shrill shriek of the kettle pierced the silence.
“I’m tired,” she retorted as she poured the boiling water into her mug and watched the tea leaves float to the surface. “You did wake me up in the middle of the night, after all.”
“Coffee works wonders.”
She made a face, even though he couldn’t see her. “It’s also disgusting. I don’t know how you drink that stuff.” She wrapped her hands around the warm mug and headed back to the bedroom. “I will admit that I miss the smell of your coffee in the morning, though. It certainly smells better than it tastes.”
He chuckled, but it came out sounding a little watery.
She frowned. Sun? Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yea, m’fine,” he mumbled. “Just… miss you a lot. It feels really good to hear your voice.”
“You’ll be home soon; hopefully just a couple more days.”
Home, she mused. She wondered when she had started associating Sun with the word ‘home’ – with the way that he seemed to always know what she was thinking, and how to cheer her up; with the way that he would wake her up in the mornings by peppering kisses along her cheeks and jaw. Home was the way he would pull her away from her paperwork, and into his arms. It was the way he would twirl her around the living room while he hummed whatever cheesy song he’d heard on the radio that day. Home, she realized, was Sun’s smile that radiated warmth and happiness, bringing joy to everybody around him. He might have been the one on a mission thousands of miles away from their apartment, but she was the one who wouldn’t feel at home until he came back and wrapped her up in his warmth.
“Blake?” Sun’s voice pulled her from her reverie.
“Yea, sorry.” She put her mug down on the bedside table and pulled the blanket around her shoulders in an attempt to stay warm. “What was that?”
“You said ‘home’, and it made me think… I’ve never really had a home before. I mean, Vacuo was… just a place where I grew up. I was always moving, and never stayed in one place for long.”
“And Mistral?”
“Mistral and Haven Academy were always meant to be temp-temporary. Just a stepping stone to get stronger – to help me survive. Neptune, Sage and Scarlet – they’re a big part of my life, but… I still felt like something was always missing, and I would never be home until I found it. Maybe that’s why I never managed to stay put – because I was looking for something.”
“And? Did you find it?”
“Yea. Yea, I think I did. Have you ever been with somebody, and it just feels right? Like you could spend the rest of your life with them?”
She paused before answering. “Yes. You, Sun. You’ve always been there for me, despite how many times I pushed you out, despite my flaws and my broken past. You took those broken pieces and you glued them back together. I don’t tell you enough how grateful I am that you never gave up on me.”
“I would do it again, and again, and again, if it meant you would be happy, because I’m happy as long as you are. I’ve never felt like I ever belonged somewhere until I met you. You’re home, Blake, and I love you so much.”
“Sun…” she breathed out, touched by how earnest he sounded. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“I love you, Blake,” he repeated. “I am always going to love you.”
She sighed, contentment and warmth washing over her. “I love you too, Sun.”
She could hear a rustle from his end of the call, before he said, “I have to go. I need to wake Nep so I can get a bit of rest.”
“Be careful on the rest of your mission, Sun. Good night.”
“Good night, Blake. Sweet dreams.” And then the line went dead.
“See you soon,” Blake whispered into the open air, even though she knew he’d already hung up. She set her scroll down next to her untouched cup of tea and snuggled deeper into the blankets. It didn’t take long for sleep to overcome her once again.
Having finally hung up the phone, Sun let out a pained gasp and coughed, blood spilling out from the corner of his mouth. He pressed his hand, already slick with his own blood, against his abdomen, where Wilt and Blush had pierced him – in the exact same spot where he had stabbed Blake all those years ago. He couldn’t help but think that Adam was trying to make a statement, and he knew exactly what it was – this is your fault.
And, hundreds of miles away from the nearest city, and miles away from where his team had set up base for the night, he knew he wasn’t going to make it out alive. Nothing his team had in their meager first aid kit could stop the amount of blood that was flowing out of his wound. So he’d called Blake – if only to hear her voice one last time, and to tell her that he loved her.
“Sun!” Neptune’s voice, filled with concern, reverberated through the night. “Sun!”
Sun let out another cough, blood spurting out. He could hear the familiar footsteps of his teammates rushing to his side.
Neptune landed next to him. “Sun!” His voice was panicked as he took in the sight of his best friend, lying in a pool of his own blood, an open, gaping wound in his abdomen, and blood dribbling down his chin. He had his scroll clutched in his right hand, Blake’s smiling face the only source of light illuminating the dark (Neptune can remember the shenanigans he and his teammates had gotten into to get her to smile like that). His other hand was clamped over the wound, trying futilely to staunch the blood flow. His face was contorted in pain and his breathing was heavy.
“Sage, Scarlet, call for help! Now! Yang and Weiss are on a mission near the outskirts of Vale – see if they have anything better than the first aid kit we have back at camp!” Neptune yanked his jacket off and pressed it against Sun’s wound, applying as much pressure as he could.
“You guys found me.” He let out a grunt of pain and let his eyes fall closed – he was starting to find it hard to concentrate, and his eyelids were starting to feel heavy.
“Sun, open your eyes!” Neptune said in a rush, his voice panicked. “I swear to dust, if you don’t open your eyes, I’m going to sic Blake on you when we get back to Vale. She’s going to let you have it for getting yourself so injured. Open your damned eyes!”
Sun struggled to pry his eyes open. “I’m okay,” he mumbled.
Sage jogged up to the pair. “We called for help – they’re sending in an emergency chopper from Vale, but it could be hours before they get here. Yang and Weiss are…” his voice trailed off when he saw Sun’s condition, and panic flashed across his usually calm façade. He swallowed loudly. “Keep him talking, Neptune. Don’t let him lose consciousness. I’m going to tell the girls to hurry.” His voice, usually calm and collected, was starting to take on tones of desperation.
Neptune nodded numbly as Sage took off towards Scarlet, who was giving the girls details about their location. He turned his attention back to Sun, whose breathing had started to turn shallow. “What happened? Why didn’t you wake us?” He asked, grasping for something – anything – to talk about in his panic-induced state.
“D-don’t know,” Sun sputtered, choking on his blood. “Was a noise – went to investigate. Caught me by surprise.”
“Who?” Neptune could feel fury building in his chest – he was going to find the monster who did this to his best friend, and make them pay. “Who was it?” he growled.
“A-Adam,” he slurred. “Don’t – don’t tell Blake. Promise – promise you won’t tell her.” He coughed again, spraying more blood everywhere.
Neptune wanted to scream. Even now, as he was laying there, his life slowly seeping out of him, Sun was thinking of Blake. He couldn’t promise that – he knew why Sun wanted him to, but he couldn’t. Blake would never forgive them if they kept something this big from her. But she would also never forgive herself for something that wasn’t her fault.
“Can’t – I can’t do that, Sun.”
“Please! You h-have to. She can’t know. She doesn’t – doesn’t deserve to…” his voice trailed off into a shallow exhale as his eyes started to close again.
“Sun! Stay with me! Open your eyes, Sun! Tell me about Blake – you always want to talk about Blake, right? Tell me about your first date, what your wedding will be like, anything!”
“S-sorry, Nep. I don’t think I can – tell Sage and Scarlet that –” he let out a pained breath. “You guys were the – best team I could’ve asked for.” He forced his eyes open and gave Neptune a weak smile. “Thanks for – putting up with all my crap.”
“You can tell them yourself when we get back into the city! Just a little longer, Sun! Yang and Weiss will be here soon with help!” Neptune looked around wildly, as if it would somehow make the two girls magically appear. “Sun!”
“Tell Blake I love…” his words trailed off as the light faded from his eyes.
Blake was pulled out of her slumber again, when she heard somebody loudly banging on her apartment door. She buried her face into her pillow and let out a muffled groan. Maybe if she ignored them, whoever it was at the door would go away. But the knocking didn’t cease and, with an irritated growl, she tossed the blankets aside and stormed across the apartment. She threw door open, forgetting that she was in nothing more than one of Sun’s old t-shirts (which she had donned because she missed him, and it smelled like him – not that she would ever admit that to anybody).
“What do you –” her words died in her throat when she took in Yang and Weiss’s disheveled state. “Yang? Weiss? What’s wrong? Aren’t you guys supposed to be on a mission? Are you guys okay?” She asked in alarm when she finally noticed the dried blood on their hands and sleeves.
Yang looked at her sadly. “Blake – I’m so sorry. Something’s happened and –” she broke off as a sob overcame her.
Weiss, whose eyes were uncharacteristically shiny with unshed tears, gave Yang’s hand a comforting squeeze.
Blake could feel dread pooling in the pit of her stomach. She had never seen Yang at a loss for words before, and Weiss had never been one to show intense emotions. Something was definitely off. She clutched the doorknob so tightly that her knuckles started turning white. “Guys?” she prompted, her voice cracking.
Weiss glanced at Yang and, seeing that her girlfriend was in no state to talk, turned back to Blake and mumbled something. But the only thing Blake managed to make out through the buzzing in her ears was the word Sun.
She could feel the strength leaving her legs, and she reached out blindly in front of her for support before she completely collapsed.
Yang and Weiss immediately leapt forward, each clasping one of her arms to hold her up.
“What – what happened to Sun? Is he okay?” How could something have happened to him in such a short time? She had spoken to him a mere few hours ago!
“Let’s go inside,” Weiss said, a slight tremble in her voice despite her attempts to remain calm and unemotional. She and Yang led her to the couch and sat her down. “We should have sent Neptune,” she grumbled under her breath.
Yang elbowed her sharply, and glared at her through the tears in her eyes. She sighed heavily. “Blake…Sun is – he went to investigate something during his night watch. Things…things didn’t – they didn’t go well.”
Blake felt herself seize with terror. “Sun – where is Sun?” she demanded frantically.
Yang and Weiss shared a look before Weiss spoke up. “Blake … he – Sun didn’t make it.”
“No…no, that’s impossible! I just spoke with him. He was fine!” She shook her head in denial.
“I’m sorry, Blake,” Yang whispered, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.
“They called us in the early hours of the morning, asking us to bring help. We got there as fast as we could, but… w-we were too late. He’d already –” Weiss cut herself off and took Blake’s other hand.
“He was… He was in really bad shape.” Yang swallowed the lump in her throat. “He didn’t go down without a fight, Blake. He did everything he could to make it back to you, but…”
Blake was stunned, frozen to the spot. “How? How did he –” she stopped, unable to bring herself to say the word ’die’, as if uttering the word would make it more real.
“We don’t know,” Weiss admitted. “Neptune was the last one to speak to him, but he refuses to say.”
“Blood loss,” Yang said. “He had a severe wound in his abdomen. On the left. I – Sage said it was probably from a sword.”
Blake felt like somebody had poured a bucket of ice over her. Unconsciously, she reached down to touch the scar on the left side of her stomach, a scar from a wound that haunted her even to this day, and would probably haunt her for the rest of her life. Her stomach rolled, and she struggled to keep herself from throwing up all over the rug. “No,” she whispered. “No.”
‘I will make it my mission to destroy everything you love,’ his words echoed through her mind and her heart clenched. Was he still trying to haunt her? After all these years, was he still trying to take away everything that she loved? Would her friends – her family – ever be safe?
“Blake?” Yang glanced worriedly over at Weiss who looked just as lost and miserable as she felt.
“Adam,” she managed to get out through clenched teeth. She felt like she was suffocating, like the world was closing in around her. “It was Adam.”
Yang stiffened, her eyes going instinctively to her robotic arm. “I’m going to kill that son of a bitch,” she growled, her eyes flashing dangerously red.
“My fault,” Blake said as if Yang hadn’t said anything. “It’s my fault. I killed Sun.”
“No,” Weiss whispered. “It’s not. It’s nobody’s fault but whoever did it.”
“It was Adam! Why else would Neptune keep it a secret? That – his wound – was a message. He’s telling me it’s my fault.” She gestured wildly to Yang’s arm. “That’s my fault too. This is why I left! He won’t s-stop until you’re all dead.” She buried her face in her hands as she tried to keep the tears from falling.
Yang sighed. She took a seat next to Blake and wrapped her arm around her. “Nobody blames you, Blake. Sun – I know Sun wouldn’t blame you either, and he wouldn’t want you to blame yourself. It was out of your hands. Adam is – he says he’s doing it to hurt you, but if Sun had nothing to do with you, and he was on the same mission, and confronted Adam, do you think Adam would have just let him go? Just because he had no connection to you?”
“Yang is right, Blake. It doesn’t matter who it is or who they are to you, Adam will kill everybody who gets in his way. It is not your fault,” she emphasized. “So please, don’t run from us. You don’t have to do this alone, but we can’t be there for you if you don’t let us in.” She sat down on Blake’s other side and put a comforting hand on her back.
Blake looked up, a desperate look on her face. “But Sun –”
“Sun wouldn’t want you to do this alone,” Yang said firmly. “Please, Blake. Stop pushing us out. We want to help you.”
Blake’s breath hitched at the familiarity of the words – the very words that Sun had used to get her to stop running away, and to bring her back to the people she loved. “Okay,” she whispered, her voice hoarse. “Thank you.”
“You’re our family, Blake. You know we’ll always be here for you, no matter what.”
She gave Weiss and Yang each a tight hug before bidding them goodbye. She shut the door and leaned against it, letting herself slide into an exhausted, defeated heap on the floor of their apartment. Her apartment now, she realized as the sinking feeling in her gut grew. It wasn’t theirs anymore; it would never be theirs again. Only hers.
She replayed their last conversation in her head, and she wondered how she could have missed all the signs. The watery laugh, the way he sounded like he was running out of breath, the fact that he hadn’t said ‘see you soon’ like he always did. He had known – when he’d called her, he must have already known then that he wouldn’t come back to her.
And if he had known, then his telling her that he loved her hadn’t been a spur of the moment thing. He had called her with the specific purpose of telling her that he loved her, that he would always love her (but, she thought bitterly, the ache in her chest growing more and more painful, always didn’t last very long), to make sure that she knew. And she was certain that Neptune refusing to tell them what happened had everything to do with Sun telling him not to. Even in his last moments, he had put her first. He always put her first, and for once, she wished that he had put himself first.
She buried her face in her hands and let out a broken, heart-wrenching sob, finally letting the tears fall. Sun was dead. How could Sun be dead? After so many years fighting extremists, Grimm, after defeating Salem, how could he be dead? After everything they had all been through, she supposed she had started thinking that they were invincible. But they weren’t. And now… now Sun was gone, and she would never see him again. She would never again see his smile that shone brighter than the sun; she would never get to walk down the aisle to see him in a suit; she would never again fall asleep to the sound of his beating heart or wake up to his warmth. She would never really, truly be home again.
A/N: Vaguely based on this prompt, because apparently, I really like killing off my favourite characters.
