In Mourning - Takes place after the events of Jailhouse Love. @rius-cave Prison Au
If you haven't read Jailhouse Love already there are minor spoilers.
Adam stood there, the wind passing over him with the bouquet of random flowers in his hand. He felt numb, but after how long it took to find this place he couldn't back down now, it was too important. Mentally and emotionally for him, he had to do this, he had to be here.
Adam wasn't alone, Lucifer was waiting back in the car for him. He had asked him to stay back and that he needed to do this part on his own.
Reluctantly, Lucifer let him, he watched the brunette walk away down the rows of tombstones. For the beautiful sunny day, it was a rather grim one.
Adam and Lucifer spent a lot time online trying to find where Adam's biological parents were buried. Sera wouldn't even as much tell Adam their names. The only reason he knows what they looked like was because of a photo he found tucked away of the three of them when he was just a newborn baby.
He looked like his mother, she had long brown wavy hair, brown eyes, and a wide smile, she was also very tan. His father had black hair and blue eyes, he wore thick rimmed glasses and was more on the pale side.
Adam was bundled up in a blue blanket with a yellow bonnet on his head sleeping in the photo.
They looked so happy.......
Adam took a deep breath, he stared down at the tombstone in front of him, his chest felt tight.

1993 - Lost
Adam felt bile rise in his throat at the sight of his own name on a tombstone. Part of him wished he had of died with them, that way they could have still been together as a family.
He set the flowers down and sat in front of the stone, knees to his chest and arms holding them. "Hi mom, hi dad. It's me, Adam." Adam tried to smile but it wobbled until he frowned, his eyes wet. "This is fucking stupid, they can't hear me." He placed his phone with their photo on the tombstone, it didn't help like he thought it would.
His heart ached, tears fell down his cheeks.
What kind of people were they? What would his life be like if they lived? Who would he be? Would he have had siblings?
He likely wouldn't have met Lucifer that's for sure.
Adam put his face in his arms and cried silently, mourning for the family he would never have or know.
"Adam?" A hand came down on his shoulder making Adam jump. "Shit, sorry!"
Adam clenched his shirt, heart racing. "Damn it Luci, you scared the shit out of me." He needs to put a fucking bell on his husband.
Lucifer sat down beside him. "You've been here for nearly 30 minutes, I wanted to see how you were doing."
He's been sitting here crying that long? Fuck. Adam sniffed and sipped his face on his sleeve. "Sorry."
"Don't be, take all the time you need." Lucifer wrapped an arm around Adam's shoulders and pulled him close. No one was here, Adam wouldn't care. They both looked forward at the picture. "You look like her."
Adam hummed in agreement.
"Do you think they would have liked me?"
Adam thought about it for a moment and yeah, they probably would like Lucifer. You know, save for the murder charge that landed him in prison.
No one's perfect.
"She would probably like you right away."
Lucifer tilted his head. "And him?"
Adam smirked. "Probably have to give you a hard time just for fun, but yeah he'd like you."
"So like you then?"
Adam flicked his gaze up to his husband for a second before looking away again. "Maybe."
"I know they would have loved you Adam." Lucifer placed a kiss in Adams hair. "I wish I could have met them."
Adam leaned more into Lucifer. "Yeah, me too."

in honor of lando dropping his new 2024 helmet: do you have a favorite helmet design?
i started to look for one but ended up with several aksdjks. no.1 has gotta be the rainbow LH one from qatar '21. and the quote that came with it. king. “I do think as these sports go to these places, they’re duty-bound to raise awareness for these issues."
exhibit (a):
but these all come pretty close too!!! exhibit (b) and (c) together: charles's one from austin '22. and lando's sticker helmet for his 100th race, which perfectly encapsulates him and his personality.
now exhibits (c), (d), (e), (f). guan yu's helmets are SICK. THE BUBBLE TEA ONE??? CRYING. and the porcelain blue helmet with his name on it is soooooooo. ugh. so so good.
he's also a rabbit in the chinese zodiac and he uses that motif too which is fun, and a cool reference to his heritage.
(i actually think guan yu and his team consistently turn out the best helmet designs on the track, period. do not sleep on this man!!!)
and lastly i do adore charles's corn one. it's adorable and... jules 🥺. exhibit (g):
thank you for asking this anon!!! it was really fun to go looking for these. helmets, i guess due to the advancement in printing, have gotten super fun and fresh in recent years. long may it continue.
#f1#helmet designs#lewis hamilton#charles leclerc#lando norris#zhou guanyu#wiz.askbox#wiz.yaps#i'm not kidding i think i could get the guanyu helmets in artwork format because they are literally the coolest things ever#and this is when i realise he tends to do a lot of his talking through aesthetics#good for him.mp3#GUAN YU LOVES BUBBLE TEA#FINE MAYBE HE'S OUT OF THE JAILHOUSE NOW

The vibes Vince Everett, Danny Fisher, and Clint Reno and give as littles
Vince Everett (Jailhouse Rock, 1957):
Let's get this squared away: Vince's regression is rough. Because of this, some of his more negative habits come out to play. How often he slips is determined by how much stress he is under, and he began regressing after he got out of jail to deal with the things he saw and experienced while he was there. He usually holds off regressing and bottles up all his emotions until he drops hard. He regresses through a broad range of ages, anywhere from 3 to 9 (most often around 7.)
He becomes bratty and defiant, trying to break any rules you may have put in place for the sheer joy of seeing how far he can take it. Then, he throws a complete fit when you punish him. Speaking of which, this little boy needs RULES, and strict ones at that. He also needs a routine to provide him with some consistency. He believes that acting out is the only way to get attention, so you quickly need to teach him that it's not okay to behave like that, and all he needs to do to get attention is to ask. He needs a caregiver that has the patience of a saint, because when he's throwing a tantrum, he'll get in your face and shove you around as a way of provoking you to hit him. Sometimes, he'll actually slap you just to get a reaction. You definitely have to remain calm and even-keeled, but also teach him that it is never okay to hit people.
This kiddo chews on his nails and sucks his thumb all the time, and it makes you worry about all the germs going in his mouth. No matter how hard you try, you can't get him to use a pacifier. It drives you INSANE. As a way of compromise, you buy him a chewy necklace, which he always forgets he has. It's definitely not an easy job to be his carer, but it's so worth it for the little bit of relief it provides him.
Danny Fisher (King Creole, 1958):
Danny found himself regressing a few days after his mother died. He didn't know what it was or why it was happening, and quite frankly, it scared the crap out of him. In all honesty, I don't think he'd be comfortable with having a caregiver who wasn't a family member. So, Mimi often takes care of him. She's extremely confused about it; all she knows is that her brother sometimes acts like a kid and gets really clingy. He's very closed off about his regression, and if Mimi mentions it while he's big, he immediately shuts her down and changes the topic. She knows he's not hurting anyone (and that he's been through hell), so she chooses not to further question him and goes along with it.
He regresses into babyspace, and can usually tell before it happens. Before he fully drops, he tells Mimi his head is "getting fuzzy.” So, she prepares a safe area for him and gathers some items he likes to have with him when little. A teddy bear his mother gave him, a blanket from when he was a kid and a pacifier from when he was a baby are the only “little items” he has. He likes when Mimi reads him the books his mother used to read to them as kids. Sometimes, he finds himself crying softly because of how much he misses his mother, and Mimi is right there to comfort him. When little, he often forgets who his sister actually is, and ends up calling her "mama." She doesn't mind; whatever helps him, helps him.
When he's not crying or being read to, he likes to have dance parties with Mimi! They'll put on a record of some kid-friendly songs, and they have a little jam session.
Clint Reno (Love Me Tender, 1956):
He regresses out of anxiety, and it's the only thing that keeps him from going headfirst into neurosis while his brothers are in the Army. He is very playful and energetic when little, but also becomes extremely defensive and more protective of his siblings than when he is big. (I didn't think that was possible, but here we are.) He is quite reckless when it comes to his own safety, but if someone threatens his brothers, he's squaring up and ready to fight. Although he's filled with feral energy, if unprovoked, he's very well behaved. He doesn't throw tantrums, and is a very respectful boy (doesn't matter if you're younger than him, he says "sir" and "ma'am" to EVERYONE.) He doesn't really have a definite age that he regresses to: he's just a kiddo!
He has no problem regressing in front of Vance, Brett and Rey, and is very nonchalant about it. They absolutely freak out the first time this happens and they think he's lost his sanity. When he goes back to being big, they have an intense interrogation session with him, and he explains that sometimes he just feels a little different! After the shock wears off, they melt because for once, their kid brother is allowing himself to be...well, a kid.
He is definitely a gentle giant in the sense that he actually forgets that he isn't physically small. Sometimes, he'll flop on top of Vance and almost crush him. Vance literally does not care, because if Clint is happy, he's happy. I don't think his brothers would treat him differently when he's regressed than they would if he was big; if anything, they just speak in more gentle voices and tone down the rough-housing. He loves playing outside, especially in mud and dirt! He takes a bath every night because somehow or another, he always ends up outdoors.
He's very clumsy, and has A TON of bruises on his knees and elbows. He's more than likely to be wearing at least one bandaid, and his brothers have a first aid kit with them at all times. When he falls, he thinks absolutely nothing of it; he gets right back up and continues playing!
(A/N: i originally wanted to make this with all of the ECU littles, but i haven’t watched all of elvis’ movies yet. with that being said, i’ll most likely divvy this into a few parts, and continuously post as i watch them!)

ECU Film Ranking Part 1
This will be a 3 part series where after 10 or so movies, I'll rank them in reverse order with 10 being the worst and 1 being the best. My ranks are based on how much I liked the movie, how much I liked Elvis' character, and how well made it was. Each entry will have an explanation so I hope my opinions make sense. If you have any disagreements feel free to share them. Enjoy!
Roustabout
The problem with this movie is simple: it completely misses the point of Charlie's character. When you think about what the movie wants us to believe, Charlie is supposed to be a grown man who's got a chip on his shoulder about being made an orphan and wants his respect. While the movie does show him as pushing back when he's being disrespected, Charlie isn't a jerk who needs to get rid of the chip on his shoulder. If anything Charlie is a saint for having to deal with people who actively hate him. In fact outside of bit characters and Mr. Carver, everyone else is infinitively times worse. How are we supposed to think Charlie needs to learn his lesson when the whole time we're on his side of most confrontations? Overall, it was a good story concept with terrible execution as it a completely wasted potential storylines and an amazing soundtrack.
(John Lennon wrote Revolution 9.)
Wild in the Country
On paper this should be an absolute banger of an Elvis movie: An angry young man who has no faith in himself until he meets someone who inspires him to be better. Too bad the movie felt like it had no idea on how to work with that concept. You get the feeling that each writer had a different story idea but was never able to execute it from start to finish. For instance, the ending was supposed to be tragic but instead became bittersweet in the most mild way possible. Given how this movie initially sets this serious tone where a character's bad actions will have consequences, the ending does a complete 180. Nothing of consequence happens and the movie suffers because of it. If the most intense part of the movie is done and over with in 5 minutes with no time to even digest what happened before we see Glenn go off to college you just sit there thinking "what was the point of that if nothing came out of it?" It's slightly better because at least the first third gave us some of Elvis' best character moments with Glenn giving an emotional monologue about his life.
Love Me Tender
Story wise it's a step up from the other two, but still suffers from executing a vision. The entire 3rd act destroyed whatever character arc Clint had going for him. I get the idea that Clint suddenly turning on Vance and Cathy just because practical strangers filled his head with ideas was something that was added at the last minute to make Elvis more relevant despite an originally smaller role. I can understand Clint being insecure about his manhood and doubting his wife's loyalty, but the execution of that was terrible. Just fix Clint's character arc in the 3rd act, and this movie would've been fine.
Paradise, Hawaiian Style
There's nothing wrong with Rick as a character. The problem's that he's boring. He doesn't have much of a character arc as it's not like him saving Danny showed a new side of him. His womanizing is his character flaw and the driving factor of his irresponsibility. Him rescuing Danny doesn't change that and it definitely doesn't give his romance with Friday any weight as I simply don't believe they have any chemistry. Then again, the only vision this movie had was to showcase actual Hawaii and the Polynesian people. For the 1960s they did that in a pretty respectful way. Drums of the Islands is a great finale song with beautiful visuals. It's a nice finale to conclude an otherwise boring movie. But what a finale it is.
Clambake
As much as I love Scott's character arc, the songs are a mixed bag and the production at times is bad. I also wasn't that enthused about Scott and Dianne's relationship as I thought Dianne was boring. The side characters are fine but again nothing to write home about. I do think that if this was given more time it would've been better, but as it stands it's not at all the worst story. The ballads keep the soundtrack from being completely terrible. It's in general a very mediocre movie with an amazing character arc.
(Joe DiMaggio wore the number 5.)
Production wise this is easily the worst one as some of the effects are so bottom of the barrel of what they wanted to achieve. The story had elements that would've been amazing but simply never expanded on them. However, JODIE IS PEAK. Way more interesting than Josh and easily could've been the main character. The revelation that he's not Pappy's son alone should've been talked about in the movie as opposed to being a throwaway line. His ballad for Midge easily the best song in the movie. Such a shame this movie was rushed out. I genuinely think if they had Elvis just be Jodie, it would've been an absolute banger. The side characters have more personality than Josh and it carries what would've otherwise been a boring movie.
Jailhouse Rock
This movie is ICONIC but character wise Vince falls a bit flat and I have mixed opinion his relationship with Peggy. Vince waffling between liking Peggy and being cold to her is strange. Especially since Peggy simply disappears for a long period of time. When they get together at the end it's like all of the justification for why things were forgiven happened off screen as opposed to naturally seeing it play out. If you simply boil it down to a cocky young man falling off his pedestal and opening up to people, then the movie works. It's very well made but there are still wrinkles that keep it from being in my top 3.
(2 and 3 are interchangeable. They're about even so the difference is simply what I like a little bit more today.)
GI Blues
Story wise I don't see anything that's really wrong with this movie. I think Tulsa is a good character. Any criticisms I have boils down to how I would've written the same story but in a different way. I guess the one criticism I do have is that we get the lie reveal plot element over in done with so little time, that there was no point of even including it. Overall, it's still a well made and enjoyable movie but it doesn't blow me away.
Girl Happy
This is low key one of the best stories in an Elvis movie. It does the lie reveal cliche right as it gives this plot element enough time to develop, climax and then resolve itself naturally. Nothing about this is forced therefore everyone involved feels like they're real people. The point of the conflict is that Rusty is supposed to watch Valerie without her knowing that he's been asked to watch her. If Valerie knew, then she wouldn't want to be around him and would only become more sneaky. The emotional conflict of her finding him and Deena together isn't anyone's fault as it wasn't like anyone wanted to act out of malice. Everyone reacted within reason and despite the miscommunication, this is a situation where telling the truth would've only complicated things. You feel bad for everyone involved and regardless of who you think is in the right, you can totally understand where the other side is coming from. The songs are still very much a mixed bag and that's why I can't put it as my number one, but as a love story it's very underrated.
(You know I had to do this lol.)
Loving You
What can I say it's Elvis' story if he had an actual happy ending. As much as I don't like how Glenda is as a character the ending makes you think she will change. Deke is such a lovable character and it only makes you wonder why he doesn't have a lot of friends. I was angry for Deke when he just forgave Glenda that quickly by coming back. I'm not sure if it's simply because that's who Deke is, or if it's on the writers for not showing us his thought process. It's similar to my criticisms for GI Blues segment. It's simply a matter of "good concept, I just would've executed it a little differently". The songs are all functional to amazing. The movie is very well made as it doesn't feel the need to blast you in the face with color. If anything Deke going from generic "farmer's clothes" to a vibrant white/red combo is so fitting. When Deke is on stage he really comes to life. Even in his regular clothes, it's like they added a brightness to them. Unintentional I'm sure but it's incredible how Deke's clothes reflect his rise from nothing. He goes from being lonely and having low self esteem to feeling joy knowing he isn't alone anymore. Such a shame it's lost in the shuffle of his other 50s movies. This one definitely stands out on its own.
