Wether people want to admit it or not(they never do,out of a moral superiority complex),they view unpalpability in female characters as reasons they're bad and unpalpability in male characters as reasons they're attractive. If a girl in media is angry and snarky and selfish and volatile, she is dubbed an irredemable monster who must be punished or the writers are 'abuse apologists' and she's 'the bitch','the cheating whore','the faker' and so forth. If a boy in media is angry and snarky and selfish and volatile,he is good deep down all along and never meant all the things he did and he was raised in a way it was inevatable and he's the protagonist true soulmate they just misunderstood and something something if villain bad why sexy
Prince Zuko was a teenage terrorist because he wanted his dad to love him and ignored his sister psychosis enabled by their father's grooming to beat her ass and said so much misogynistic shit someone was able to do a whole fancam and called the tibetan buddhist genocide survivor his direct ancestors cleansed 'Guru Goody Goody' and did the quivalent of breaking up with his girlfriend through a text message and if you act like he's not just an awkward turtleduck you get people screeching until their mouths start bleeding over how you hate abuse survivors and men who're perfect for every feminist woman and Katara was a teenage anarchist brown native girl who kicked off the series by bringing back the protagonist to save the world by going off at her older brother for sexism and spent the rest of the series an activist too and literally has the same sense of humor and attitude and even powers 2000s darling Percy Jackson does and she gets called a concervative basic white girl who talks about her mom she saw murdered by colonizers in her toddler years too much and should never speak out of turn lest she hurt men's feelings and a mary sue and her antis demand you never speak positively of her without reminding us she's not a perfect precious sharkangel who did nothing wrong ever(she is one and didn't)

My Analysis of Voltron: Legendary Defender and Its Legacy - in Particular Regards to Keith and Lotor.
My father introduced me to Voltron: Defender of the Universe when I was four years old, around 2010, because he grew up with it in the 80s. Voltron became my first real obsession. When I was about ten, DreamWorks announced that they would be partnering with Netflix to remake my favourite show. Naturally, I was excited. But when I finally watched Voltron: Legendary Defender (LD), I was confused.
At the time, I didn’t know about Beast King GoLion, so I was full of questions: Who’s Shiro? Where’s Sven? Why did they change Arus to Altea? Why isn’t Keith in the Black Lion? I cannot tell you how furious ten-year-old me was when I discovered they had given the Voltron Force the “wrong” Lions (Lance in Blue? Preposterous). After Season One, I actually quit watching because it felt so far removed from what I knew (they made Pidge a girl? How dare they!). It wasn’t until Season Eight had already been released for quite some time that I went back to give it another go. It was… alright.
I’m not new to Voltron, but I am new to fandom, and Tumblr—only recently realising that you can talk to people about your interests over the internet instead of just in the schoolyard (my friends got so bored of me talking about Voltron). So what I’m about to discuss may already be old news, but these are my thoughts on Legendary Defender and how it compares to Voltron’s legacy.
The Role of the Black Lion and Leadership
Whilst scouring the tags, I’ve seen a recurring debate within the Voltron fandom regarding whether Keith should have been in the Black Lion or gone back to Red. Some argue that he was unfit for the position, but this perspective overlooks the franchise’s long-standing tradition. Since Defender of the Universe in the 1980s, Keith has been the Black Lion’s pilot and the leader of the team. The Black Lion has always been the heart of Voltron, piloted by the one who holds the team together and leads them into battle.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b1f0891b8539e6201365dac48426c687/08712c48bd674444-19/s400x600/8d8a973e292afddb7c609c2ac917f078e1e5019f.jpg)
To claim Keith isn’t fit for the Black Lion is to disregard not only his character arc but also the very structure of Voltron as a franchise. From the very beginning, Keith has been the pilot of the Black Lion, just as Optimus Prime has always been the bearer of the Matrix of Leadership in Transformers. The Black Lion choosing Keith in Legendary Defender is a natural continuation of a forty-year tradition, not a sudden or undeserved shift.
However, LD wrote itself into a corner by bringing Shiro back and sidelining Keith for almost two seasons. While this allowed for Krolia’s introduction and the addition of the space wolf, which I enjoyed, it disrupted Keith’s development as a leader. Instead of organically growing into his role, Keith’s transition to leadership felt abrupt and underdeveloped. Previous versions of Voltron, such as Defender of the Universe and Voltron Force, dedicated time to showcasing Keith’s leadership qualities, making his role as the Black Lion’s pilot feel more natural. By contrast, LD’s decision to remove him from the team for an extended period created an inconsistent leadership structure that ultimately weakened his arc.
The Absence of Voltron in Voltron

One of my biggest issues with Voltron: Legendary Defender is how little the titular ‘character’ actually appears in the show. There are entire story arcs where the audience goes multiple episodes without seeing Voltron at all. This is a stark contrast to the previous Voltron series, where the lion mechs formed Voltron at least once per episode, making the giant robot a central and consistent presence.
After reading Bob Koplar’s opinions on LD, I find myself agreeing with him. Even though I was quite young when Legendary Defender first came out, I had already seen all the previous Voltron series thanks to my father. Even then, something about LD felt off to me. It wasn’t until I read Koplar’s insights that I fully understood why—it simply didn’t feel like Voltron.
And to be clear, I’m not saying Legendary Defender is a bad show. It’s a well-produced series with high-quality animation, a solid voice cast, and some genuinely good storytelling. It also brought more awareness to a brand I love, introducing a new generation of fans to Voltron. But despite its strengths, it often felt disconnected from the essence of what made Voltron special.
In every previous iteration, forming Voltron wasn’t just a moment of spectacle—it was a core part of the show’s identity. The lions coming together, the transformation sequence, the blazing sword—these weren’t just iconic visuals; they were essential to the Voltron experience. In LD, however, Voltron often felt secondary to character-driven subplots and political intrigue, which, while interesting (most of the time), took focus away from the giant robot action that defined the franchise.
The Absence of Vehicle Voltron
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bf6946f1f996bf4789c42764e6fbf458/08712c48bd674444-ba/s400x600/8a2e251de57092f9cf05a343158b83d925d04548.jpg)
Voltron: Legendary Defender was marketed as a love letter to everything that came before it—a grand tribute to the Voltron legacy. But in reality, it wasn’t.
Of course, Lion Force Voltron (adapted from Beast King GoLion) is the most well-known and beloved version of the franchise, so it makes sense that LD focused on it. But if the goal was truly to unite all Voltron ideas under one roof, then why was Vehicle Voltron (Armored Fleet Dairugger XV) completely ignored?
I understand that Vehicle Voltron is more obscure, but it was still an essential part of Voltron's history. The original plan for Voltron as a franchise was that there would be three Voltrons:
Defender of the Far Universe (Lion Force),
Defender of the Middle Universe (Vehicle Voltron),
Defender of the Near Universe (Gladiator Voltron, based on Lightspeed Electroid Albegas).
However, after Vehicle Voltron proved less popular, instead of introducing Gladiator Voltron as planned, World Events Productions doubled down on Lion Force Voltron with a second season and a TV movie, Fleet of Doom. That movie featured both Lion and Vehicle Voltron teaming up, and it remains one of the most awesome moments in Voltron's history.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d6d6e840fb4002a3be1490dfb82cc48f/08712c48bd674444-dd/s400x600/a0543aa208aeaaedd9f7719a63b8eccc7cc9429f.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d061bf51ff69add2812abd4bc1421211/08712c48bd674444-33/s540x810/b62f4097331610d408dc350210916d308e4ccf14.jpg)
If LD had truly been a love letter to Voltron, it would have acknowledged all of Voltron, not just Lion Force. It would have recognised the legacy of Vehicle Voltron and drawn from its rich history instead of awkwardly repurposing its best elements. Instead, the show attempted to reinvent Voltron while sidelining key parts of its past, losing much of what made Voltron special in the first place.
Lotor’s Redefinition: A Flawed but Ambitious Adaptation
Lotor’s characterisation in Legendary Defender marks a significant departure from his portrayal in Defender of the Universe. In DotU, Prince Lotor is a sadistic, irredeemable villain. He was a brutal conqueror, a mass murderer and a serial rapist. He saw Allura as a prize rather than a person. His cruelty extended even to his own subordinates, reinforcing his role as an unambiguous antagonist.
LD, however, attempted a more complex interpretation of Lotor, depicting him as a strategic manipulator with seemingly noble intentions. He positioned himself as a reformer of the Galra Empire, standing in opposition to Zarkon’s tyranny. This reimagining was ambitious, but the execution faltered. His eventual descent into villainy in Season 6 felt rushed, as though the writers were unsure whether to portray him as a tragic anti-hero or a monstrous antagonist.
This brings me to another major problem with Legendary Defender’s handling of Lotor. If the writers wanted to create a sympathetic, deserter, reluctant ally figure, then Lotor was the wrong character to use. In Defender of the Universe, Lotor is a sadistic, cruel warlord obsessed with conquest and domination, especially when it comes to Allura. He was never a misunderstood antihero—he was pure villainy.
A far better choice for this arc would have been Commander Hazar from Vehicle Voltron. Hazar was the noble commander of the Drule forces, who realised that his people’s war against the Galaxy Alliance was doomed and sought a peaceful resolution. He had a compelling redemption arc, going from enemy to ally as he struggled against the more ruthless elements of his own empire. But instead of introducing Hazar, LD simply took his story and gave it to Lotor—likely because Lotor was the more recognisable character.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6080a524e4552f03ace53796f105f465/08712c48bd674444-7a/s400x600/02852bae15702680e9b1da7dbcbfeef54e999cce.jpg)
This ultimately backfired. While a sympathetic or morally ambiguous take on Lotor could have been compelling, the series failed to develop him in a consistent manner. Instead of an outright sadistic monster, LD initially portrayed him as a cunning, strategic manipulator who appeared to have noble intentions—at least on the surface. He positioned himself as a reformer of the Galra Empire, criticising Zarkon’s rule and striving for a different vision of leadership. He surrounded himself with female generals whom he treated with apparent respect, further distinguishing him from his DotU counterpart. This version of Lotor was crafted to be more sympathetic, even charismatic, to the point that Allura herself developed feelings for him, a massive departure from the horror and revulsion she held toward him in DotU.
However, the execution of Legendary Defender’s Lotor was deeply flawed. The narrative spent seasons portraying him as a potential ally, only to suddenly reveal in Season 6 that he was not only unhinged but had been engaging in horrific experiments on Alteans. His villain turn felt rushed and unearned as if the writers couldn’t decide whether they wanted him to be a tragic anti-hero or an irredeemable monster. This abrupt shift wasn’t organic—it was the result of executive intervention. According to reports, when Bob Koplar (who oversees Voltron at World Events Productions) found out the writers were trying to make Lotor good, he stepped in and pushed them to course-correct, leading to Lotor’s sudden descent into madness and atrocities.
By trying to blend Lotor and Hazar into one character, LD weakened both. Lotor lost the defining villainy that made him iconic in past series, while Hazar’s compelling redemption story was distorted by being attached to a character with too much villainous baggage. LD wanted Lotor to be both the misunderstood antihero and the ultimate evil, but in trying to have it both ways, they ruined the integrity of his arc. The greatest casualty of Lotor’s inconsistent characterisation was Allura’s arc. Instead of developing their dynamic meaningfully, the show oscillated between presenting Lotor as sympathetic and suddenly making him irredeemably evil. In DotU, Allura despised Lotor and stood firmly against his advances, representing strength and defiance in the face of oppression. In LD, she was manipulated into trusting and even falling for him, which not only contradicted her instincts as a leader but also made her later grief and anger feel hollow due to how abruptly the story shifted Lotor back into full villainy.
The Missed Opportunity of Keith and Lotor’s Rivalry in Legendary Defender
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c7fec193dafc0c4130b6c98ebafbed22/08712c48bd674444-13/s400x600/6965bde4fbda9032f3bbd406c50ec948e269fa21.jpg)

One of the biggest missteps in Voltron: Legendary Defender, I felt, was its failure to develop Keith and Lotor’s rivalry into a meaningful, ongoing conflict. In past incarnations, particularly Defender of the Universe (DotU), Lotor viewed Keith as his greatest obstacle—not just as Voltron’s leader, but as the one standing between him and Allura. He recognised that Allura harboured feelings for Keith, which fueled his hatred and provided some of the most compelling personal conflicts in the series.
In Legendary Defender, however, Keith was largely absent for two seasons, leaving little room for an adversarial relationship with Lotor. Instead of building on their natural opposition, the show reduced their interactions to a handful of confrontations, missing an opportunity to add depth to the overarching narrative. Had Keith remained with the team instead of leaving for the Blade of Marmora, his dynamic with Lotor could have taken one of two fascinating paths—either leading to a devastating betrayal or reinforcing Keith’s instincts as the voice of reason.
Keith Trusts Lotor Completely (and is Devastated by His Betrayal)
Had Keith stayed, he might have bonded with Lotor over their shared half-Galra heritage. Throughout Legendary Defender, Keith struggles with his identity, and without the Blades to guide him, he could have been drawn to someone who truly understood what it meant to exist between two worlds. Lotor presents himself as refined, strategic, and pragmatic—qualities that might have resonated with Keith as he tried to grow into his role as a leader.
With Shiro compromised by Haggar’s manipulation and Allura torn by grief and duty, Lotor could have positioned himself as Keith’s closest confidant, someone who could help him make sense of his Galra side rather than viewing it as something to suppress. This trust, however, would have made Lotor’s eventual betrayal all the more soul-crushing. It wouldn’t just be the loss of an ally—it would be the loss of the first person who made Keith feel like he didn’t have to choose between his human and Galra lineage. Given Keith’s history of abandonment—his mother leaving, his father’s death, and Shiro’s repeated disappearances—Lotor’s deception could have broken him in a way few other betrayals could.
Instead of reacting with pure anger, Keith’s devastation could have manifested as bitter disillusionment. No longer willing to trust easily, he might have hardened himself further, becoming even more closed-off and reluctant to open up. This would have been a poignant subversion of past Voltron incarnations, where Keith and Lotor were always enemies. In DotU and Voltron Force, there was never any question of them being on the same side—Lotor was a power-hungry prince, and Keith was the noble leader standing in his way. Legendary Defender could have played with audience expectations by making Keith believe Lotor was different, only to have that belief shattered.
Keith Doesn’t Trust Lotor at All (and Becomes the Voice of Reason)
On the other hand, Keith’s blunt, no-nonsense attitude and strong instincts might have made him the first to see through Lotor’s deception. Keith is an intuitive fighter—he acts on gut feelings, and more often than not, those instincts are correct. He was the first to suspect something was wrong with Shiro, the first to push for finding the Blade of Marmora, and the first to embrace his Galra heritage when others hesitated. If Keith had remained with the Paladins, he might have immediately sensed that Lotor wasn’t as noble as he claimed.
This would have led to a compelling internal conflict within the team. Shiro (or rather, his clone) trusted Lotor. Allura, yearning for hope, wanted to believe in his sincerity. The rest of the Paladins were hesitant but willing to follow Shiro’s lead. If Keith stood alone in his distrust, it could have isolated him, forcing him into a position where he felt like an outsider even among his own team. This tension would have mirrored his past struggles with authority—just as he distrusted the Garrison and later the Blades, he would have once again found himself at odds with those around him, questioning an alliance everyone else was willing to accept.
This slow-burning antagonism between Keith and Lotor could have been an excellent way to preserve their classic rivalry. Instead of being immediate enemies, their conflict could have simmered beneath the surface—Lotor, ever the manipulator, attempting to win Keith over, while Keith steadfastly refused to be fooled. When Lotor’s true nature was finally revealed, the impact would have been far greater, as Keith would have been proven right—but at a cost. His relationship with his team could have suffered in the process, with the others only realising too late that he had been the only one who saw Lotor for who he truly was.
Both of these potential storylines would have strengthened Keith’s character arc—either by forcing him to confront betrayal on a deeply personal level or by cementing his role as an unshakable leader who sees through deception when no one else can. More importantly, they would have restored the weight of Keith and Lotor’s rivalry, making it more than just a handful of scattered battles.
Instead, Legendary Defender kept Keith and Lotor largely separate, missing an opportunity to explore their ideological clashes, personal similarities, and the devastating consequences of Lotor’s deception. By discarding their dynamic for two seasons, the show ultimately failed to capitalise on one of Voltron’s most compelling rivalries—a conflict that, in past versions, had always been at the heart of the story.
My Issue with LD’s Canon Romance
If there’s one franchise where the canon pairing didn’t work for me, it’s Voltron: Legendary Defender. Normally, I’m content with canon ships—I love Hiccstrid (How to Train Your Dragon), the Doctor and River Song (Doctor Who), Kataang (Avatar: The Last Airbender), and Anakin/Padmé (Star Wars). But in LD, the decision to end with Lance and Allura felt like a fundamental misunderstanding of Voltron as a whole.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6c99bebaa2af6365d1646ace802a0557/08712c48bd674444-ff/s400x600/31edeaa3fcea9370c64fa33ffd859928e994a967.jpg)
For over thirty years, Voltron consistently paired Keith and Allura. Their romantic tension was a recurring element in Defender of the Universe (second season), The Third Dimension, Voltron Force, and even the Dynamite comics. Legendary Defender, however, sidelined their dynamic and abruptly pushed Lance and Allura together at the last minute without meaningful buildup. Their relationship lacked organic development, making it feel forced and unearned.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4c93e3f350208ade8b4559119b7a3bcd/08712c48bd674444-57/s500x750/3930f5d7571198d5d5b87460c4911320c5593752.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a9314ca117aa162ef338dfc292c1afba/08712c48bd674444-96/s540x810/8ed5f0cdcb53bac1bcdfdcfce738efaf566cd8cd.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/232df94466982ad32c5337538c0bfd15/08712c48bd674444-da/s400x600/b0ad0bc576567acb99f46a395074896b313cff0c.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/304d24bba15051c77ea8635080d6d2c1/08712c48bd674444-22/s540x810/6b26b94db666b0ea11253fdbdf89cefd2104d04e.jpg)
I, like many fans found the canon ending unsatisfying, but instead of Kallura, the most dominant ships in the fandom became Klance (Keith/Lance) and Sheith (Keith/Shiro), which honestly baffles me. Sheith, in particular, feels uncomfortable—not just because of the age difference, but because Keith explicitly refers to Shiro as his brother. Their dynamic is built on a strong mentor-protégé bond, which makes any romantic interpretation feel… wrong.
Klance is equally confusing to me. Keith and Lance spend most of the show at odds, their relationship defined by rivalry and bickering. I've seen arguments that Lance is bisexual and Keith is gay, but I could find no actual evidence in the show to support this. Lance openly flirts with multiple women (Allura, Nyma, Plaxum), but never once shows interest in men. Keith, on the other hand, isn’t depicted as romantically interested in anyone, male or female—though there are moments where he subtly notices Allura (noticed by people far smarter than myself). On my first watch, it seemed to me that the writers were setting up Keith and Acxa.
I will say that I don’t like these two ships, but it's fine if you do, I’m not judging. I’m just curious to hear from people who do ship these pairings. What is it about Klance or Sheith that resonates with you? Is there something in their dynamic that I might be missing? Maybe my perspective is limited or some gay subtext that my stupid hetero-focused brain can't process, so I’d love to understand why these ships became so popular.
Conclusion
Voltron: Legendary Defender set out to modernise and reimagine a beloved franchise, and while it succeeded in some areas, I felt it ultimately fell short in honouring Voltron’s full legacy. The series introduced fresh character dynamics, impressive animation, and ambitious storytelling, but its execution often felt inconsistent. Keith’s arc as the Black Lion’s pilot was hindered by narrative disruptions, Vehicle Voltron was ignored despite its historical significance, and Lotor’s character was muddled by conflicting portrayals. The rivalry between Keith and Lotor, a defining element of past iterations, was underdeveloped, missing a key opportunity for deeper storytelling.
Despite its flaws, LD reignited interest in Voltron for a new generation and expanded the franchise’s fanbase. It brought new perspectives to familiar characters and offered an engaging, if imperfect, reimagining of the classic series. However, by disregarding core elements of Voltron’s past, it failed to fully embrace the legacy it sought to celebrate.

Every now and then I replay the first episode of VLD and I wonder why I thought it be a good show lol
#mostly just the part where Allura is assigning pilots to lions#why lol. the first five people who show up are just perfect fits?? hate it lol#i have no au plot ideas but itd have made more sense to draw out the forming of voltron. like for a longer time. like its the s1 finale#and to be traveling looking for appropriate pilots#or the s2 finale? like what if the original gang somehow stayed in contact despite not being Voltron paladins and they proved being the best#team despite not piloting immediately. i feel like a stronger plot of their forming teamwork outside of being Voltron would have also made#their friendships seem more real too lmao#like what if Lance IS Blue's pilot bit hes the only one for a long time. the other lions couldn't actually *just be* located#*but. not bit. and what if Pidge runs off in a stolen vessel to find her dad and brother. what if Shiro isnt.. so flat as a character and is#desperate to find his old team and runs off with them to help out and free others#Keith could somehow get involved with The Blades a lot sooner#and Hunk finds his footing as a leader in rebellion organization. i hate that he was just the funny guy allll the way thru#also (still not a plot bc my brain is unorganized lol) Allura doesnt die. Shiro actually gets to be gay with a husband. and we either need#to not make Lotor a villain or just go all out on making him the worst. i personally dont want him to be a villain bc it was stupid lol#also PULEEEAASE Lance is bi. Lance “I'm just getting a feel for the stick” *obsessed with his rival who doesnt even know he exists* McClain#i want to see him get over his crush on Allura within like 6 episodes and then see him making out with the mermaids then Keith when everyone#starts reuniting lol. my bicon Lance deserves to kiss mermaids like we all do and then get on when the otp lol#now im nostalgic for s1 VLD vibes. ya know. before hell lol#it really just gets worse after ... s3? everyone feels different. i usually tolerate up to about the end of s3 before i feel like its donezo#aunt posting#vld#voltron: legendary defender

Casually reading LB for the 3rd time 🤫 I just want to share my appreciation for making such a MASTERPIECE 😫I can't even begin to explain how I can physically *FEEL* the sexual tension 😭it's almost painful... and I love how you always answer the questions we ask about the world!!! It is so absolutely amazing and you deserve all the best ♥️♥️ I can safely say I have never read something so perfectly done under Keitor 🤌 Aaaaaand because I'm just a little bit selfish and greedy (this is totally up to you I just wanted to ask anyway) is there anyway I could ask for your view on how the garrison would react to finding out Keith is in a romantic relationship with Lotor. Like would they approve? Feel shocked? Disapprove because he is quite literally the Galra Emperor and the spawn of Sa- Zarkon? How would Keith's bullies, teachers and observers react? I'm just so curious and wanted to know your take 🤷♀️ again love your work so much!!
High praise indeed! Thank you so much my love!! (⁄ ⁄>⁄ ‿ ⁄<⁄ ⁄)
The Garrison as an institution would be,,, surprised, to say the least. Cadet Kogane, as Keith was known to them, was all raw talent and jagged edges; it's generally considered a great pity by the top brass that they were unable to mould him into Shirograne 2.0, but ability without obedience is just as useless as the reverse, so naturally they had no choice but to discharge him for poor conduct. To know that an alien Empire was able to make a soldier out of him where they were not is a little galling, certainly, but nonetheless Keith's human heritage and Earthen background establish him as an invaluable foothold and ambassador—
—except... the situation is nothing of the sort they expected.
Because the cadet-turned-consort is, if anything, worse than they remember. No longer jagged but cutting, less bullheaded than brutal, and though his ill-temper has in turn been tempered, rather than shape him into the obliging sort, Keith Kogane stands before them sharp as a whip with all the political power to back him up.
Where the Garrison would have cut the boy down to the shape of a soldier, the Empire has gone forth to forge a warrior of him.
Those that knew Keith a little more personally, though? Beyond that initial moment of jaw-dropped shock, I imagine that it would strike them as remarkable only in that everything Keith Kogane is always has been.

Umm the usual assortment of lance allura and kuron for that ask thingy <33(can be all three or just one if you dont feel like it!!!) scurries away
Thank you for asking bestie ❤❤❤. Ngl my brain is baked these days so I'll be only one this time
Kuron-
three facts about them from my personal headcanons-
Huge ass nerd. Especially about classic lit but he's also this pic about it-
2. Enters 'Shiro look-a-like Cosplay' competition specifically to do the Worst Most Awful impression of Shiro, he also got the scar on the wrong side through makeup (its a coping mechanism leave him alone) If he and Shiro had a better relationship (and Shiro stopped being a bitch about the clone thing) they both would enter that competition and Kuron will win while Shiro will get last and Kuron doesn't know whether to laugh or cry or curl up in a corner and die
3. Fighting for his life anytime he gets a headache or a migraine. Constantly swinging between "it's just a headache! Haggar's dead! It's just a headache! Haggar's dead! It's just-" And "I am going to die"
a reason they suck-
Babygirl I know you are going Through it but you got to stop going behind your teams back and yell at them, Lotor was so not worth it.
Also is just so focused on being The Leader he forgot being Team Member
a reason they are great-
He's just trying so much???!?! Like he is doomed no matter what happened and he didn't even know it but he was still trying his best and he fought and tried to survive till his very last breath 🥺🥺🥺🥺 my boy he deserved better
a reason I relate to them-
I kinda don't? Relatability of a character isn't really my priority as much as studying them in a microscope is. If I had to I guess our tendency to not communicate well and be a bit snappish when stressed? The feeling of not being in control about anything in your life? Otherwise I can't think of any
(what I consider to be) the top tier otp/ot3 for that character-
I still think about toxic yaoi Kuron/Lotor that would never work and destroy them both btw if you even care
But also like screw romance give him as many friends as he wants
five things that never happened to that character that I believe should have happened-
Him getting to live
Him getting to live as his own person
Him getting to live as his own person in his own body
Him getting to live as his own person in his own body and not treated as Evil Shiro clone but a friend
Shiro fucking apologises to him (I know there are others who have done far FAR worse things to Kuron and Shiro has his own trauma and I like Shiro! But also listening to him being mean to my son no. 1 WHILE being mean about my tragic son no. 2 and all I could think of was, "Shut the fuck up forever actually bitch")
five people that character never fell in love with and why-
Again do I really have to answer this one?? Like can't we ignore all shipping fandom? Ugh fine
Haggar (for obvious reasons)
Zarkon (stated as above and in fact these two can be interchanged)
Sendak (sure Kuron hasn't actually met Sendak but he does have Shiro's memories and he sucks in all of them)
Iverson (because fuck him)
Slav (I don't hate Slav but I have to agree with people when they say that Slav and Shiro trigger each other's anxieties and trauma and this applies to Kuron as well)
#empty answers#Ask meme#I am so so sorry this is so late#My head has been fucked for months now my internship and uni is being stressful and the heat has been fucking with me

Tourettes Awareness Month, May 26th!
Kinda lost track of the days so just gonna stop counting them and just do the date instead 😅
Today I'm going to go over some of my pet peeves/frustrations that are related to my tics/TS, or people reacting to it. Some of these I've mentioned before but I'll try to include new ones as well, don't mind my bitter old man persona coming out lol.
⚠️Everyone who has TS or tic disorders will have different experiences, this is just mine
Dentists!
So I have had a lot of bad experiences with dentists, even before my tics were severe enough to be diagnosed and now its even worse. Bc I'm anxious for the dentist, my tics can actually get really bad in the days leading up to it and the day of. I'm also prone to shut downs with dental stuff, so it's almost a double whammy. Luckily my most recent experiences with dentists have been really positive, and they've been extremely patient with me. However when I get a bad dentist the experience pretty much back tracks all the progress I had been making with the good ones.
It can just be really hard to manage my tics during an appointment, and I'm more prone to tic attacks in the days leading up to said appointment, even if I know who I'm seeing is good. This is starting to pass now tho and I actually went back with the dentist on my own for the first time since I was 7 or so last month.
Sleep interrupting!
Being too tired to sleep is a pretty common occurrence for me, unfortunately. When I'm sleep deprived I get more tics than usual, especially in my legs. Usually my legs don't tic bc I sit in ways that make it difficult (criss cross, one leg under the other, on my knees, ect), but when I'm laying down to sleep, it's much harder to find a position that stops leg tics. If I can't stop them, I end up kicking myself over and over, usually right as I'm about to fall asleep so I kick and I'm wide awake again. Some nights it only happens for like 10min and then I can sleep, but other nights it'll be HOURS. On the longer nights I'll try to sleep with my legs crossed or sitting up criss cross, but that's really hard to do sometimes. Most of the times on those nights I just give up on sleeping all together. The days after I don't sleep, I'm more twitchy and prone to attacks, then I either am allowed to sleep that night or just pass out from exhaustion after an attack.
Pre-tic premonition!
Sometimes I'll know I'm about to tic, and I can see I'm going to hurt myself or I know I'm going to throw something and there is literally nothing I can do, I'm just stuck knowing until the tic hits unless I suppress it, which doesn't always works, usually causes recoil, and can HURT.
Thunder!
So I used to love thunderstorms, and find peace in them, but as my tics got more severe, my relationship with thunder changed. Rolling thunder is okay but booming thunder makes me tic like crazy, as in when it's frequent enough I will tic myself dizzy or give myself a migraine. I of course live in a thunderstorm heavy area 😅
BTW if you're into mediocre poetry and have a spare dollar or a Kindle unlimited account, I actually wrote about this in my book I Want To Love the Thunder under the name Fen Lotor only on Amazon
People!
I was going to get into this a lot but honestly the stories kinda deserve their own post, mainly bc it'd be long and people may want to skip it bc the stories could be triggering so I'll generalize here-
1. People making me tic on purpose (luckily a rare occurrence but a really fucking shitty one)
2. People staring (yes its strange, and I understand glancing at me but sometimes people just stare until my tics stop but if I know someone is staring I tic more from the anxiety)
3. Stereotypes (a given)
4. Asking me questions while I'm actively having a tic attack (99% of the time I'm super open about questions but people sometimes don't ask until I'm having a severe attack even if they've seen minor tics or know I'm tourettic)
5. Balloon decor (maybe I'm biased bc I haven't been somewhere w balloon decor since prom but it seems anytime balloons are used as decor there is at least one person intent on popping them)
6. Immediately panicking when I start ticcing (it's less frequent now w people who know me but as soon as people know my tics CAN be caused by something negative they seem to think they are ALWAYS caused that way, no matter what I say so they start panicking and asking what's wrong and won't take "nothing is wrong" as an answer which stresses me out and makes me tic more)
7. 4th of July (this makes me sound like a scrooge and a hypocrite bc I like fireworks. I also don't mind headphoning up and blocking it out for a bit, but for some reason people around me celebrate from 6pm to 3am, July 1st-July 7th, and it's not even dark until 8pm or later)
Okay ended up ranting a bit lol. Thank you for reading, and as always my asks are open if anyone is curious or has questions I'll answer the best I can 😊
Also adding my cooking with Tourette's tag if anyone is curious. I almost included some info on cooking here but it doesn't really bother me enough to be a pet peeve

Cackling at these tags—excellent additions. Lance just wants to be cool.
And the mental image of the paladins getting carted off in prison uniforms and handcuffs for trying to save reality is just too good. They use their allowed phone call to ring up Coran who has been wondering where they all went and why Shiro was missing from the Atlas when he got back. ‘We got arrested :((‘ It makes for a fun story to tell those interested in the legend of Voltron when they get back. And the fact that they don’t even go to time prison—the axolotl took one look at everyone there and said these maximum security risks need therapy. So here you are with the ‘biggest bads’ in the universe like Bill Cipher in the dimensional tyrant ward. And then a few wards left you’ve got our garrison duo Hunk and Lance just playing pranks and vibing and super out of place here to a hilarious degree.
-Lance somehow ends up making friends there because even Cthulhu isn’t immune to his friendliness and he and Hunk will be getting goodbye cards when they leave.
-Keith’s just going around going ‘I knew you were real!’ to all of these urban legends. He ends up becoming a cryptid to the cryptids.
-Shiro’s finally getting the break he deserves (it’s like the closest to a holiday he’s got in ages. That time in the void does not count).
-And Allura’s getting some quality time with her father and the paladins of old (well. As quality as you can get in a rehabilitation centre). Though things are very awkward with Lotor (what with the whole altean batteries thing and all) and she’s not exactly pleased that the axolotl has decided they should be talking things out.
-But however awkward they are, it’s way worse with Zarkon, Lotor and Honerva. And they’ve been sat next to each other in puppet hour :(
-Everyone has been wondering where Pidge is. So have the time police. Facing against anyone who isn’t an adult is their greatest weakness. She managed to snag a time tape and has been hiding throughout history, planning a prison break out. Oh the sights she has seen.
Good thing about this place is that it’s outside of time, so it’s almost like they never left their universe when they get released for good behaviour (Coran literally just finished his call with them). Allura hopes she’ll cross paths with her father in his next life, whatever form he’s in. Be it altean or yalmor.
Au where Lance grew up in gravity Falls before voltron. Imagine Allura trying to figure out whether the weird thing Lance says and does is a weird human thing or weird Lance thing
Anon, anon, anon, I love where your brain is at right now.
Humans, to Allura and Coran at least, are weird in their own right. With how similar they look to alteans, they always get thrown by the occasional thing that to them, is just so alien (all those languages they apparently speak even through they’re from a secluded planet, the way cold food freezes their brains—though they enjoyed the food from the planet Icesocles saying it was similar to ‘ice cream’ and wished they could stay longer to build ‘snow men?’, their lack of strength, talk of rain that’s just… water with zero protective shields required to deal with except maybe ‘an umbrella’ which sounds incredibly low tech, and bizarrely only have one heart which is a terrible survival technique). But Lance has a particular brand of weird that just stands out and Allura quickly learns he cannot be used as a basis for understanding what all human first world problems are like.
Hunk tells Allura that it’s just where Lance grew up. Like his hometown, Lance is a bit of a weirdness magnet (which tracks. One minute he’s trying to sneak off and go partying, the next he’s in a cave with a rag tag team and the inscriptions are glowing). Lance has always had these strange stories to tell at the garrison, ones where he was just talking about his family, and the strangeness of his home town was not the focus, but very much prevalent in the story. Some people thought he was just trying to get attention, or seem interesting, but Hunk knew that didn’t seem right. And then Hunk got invited by Lance one year to Gravity Falls and realised that that town really is just like that ™ and you really couldn’t make this kind of stuff up. Turns out it’s not just to attract tourists???? Hunk wonders why more people aren’t freaking out about this (the answer is all proof is seen as fake).
-The Gravity Falls Lance is from is about 50-ish years ahead of the one we’re familiar with. But it’s largely the same. Gravity Falls will always be Gravity Falls.
-When Hunk visited, there was a sudden influx of gnomes in the area. They wanted to steal his all his baking, which Hunk was cool with (once he realised where it was going and not just. Vanishing into thin air), but they had to at least leave some for them. The gnomes miss his baking and really want to make Hunk their queen.
-In this au, Lance doesn’t initially see Pidge as insane for believing in aliens. He accidentally stumbled into the spaceship in the hill when he was a kid whilst trying to look for a missing cat. If he had a nickel for every time he stumbled onto a spaceship… Allura’s the first living alien he’s seen though! And a lot prettier than a pile of bones.
-Lance’s family’s habit of adopting stray cats extends to the bizarre animals of the town too. Lance couldn’t even tell you what species his first pet was. But they definitely are not a cat. He still loves his not-cat Ninja, though <3
-He’s super friendly with a lot of the supernatural. A shame it’s not all super friendly back.
-Lance’s fear of the castle ship being haunted is very legitimate and reasonable. Ghosts are very real!!! (And… maybe there are ghosts here. Not just Alfor’s ‘ghost.’)
-Lance first crush was on a mermaid. Well. Siren.
-“Holy crow! You have mermaids in space too!”
-He’s honestly surprised at how humanoid many of these aliens are. He’s seen stranger.
-Seen many a headcanon about Keith getting caught up in the search for Mothman whilst looking for Shiro (spiralling into the world of conspiracy). Lance will neither confirm nor deny seeing Mothman. Keith just wants an answer :((
-Lance grew up watching bootleg shows on Gravity Falls TV. His references are incredibly niche.
-When Shiro temporarily dies, he has an encounter with the axolotl.
-Haggar/Honerva keeps all those spare Shiros because she, too, is working on making her very own space boy band. As a side gig. Project Kuron takes priority though.
-The longer Pidge spends around Lance, more more interested she gets in hearing about Gravity Falls (she’d heard rumours, sure, but hearing first hand accounts from a local. It has her attention immediately). Pidge just wants to understand the hows and whys and all the science, it drives her nuts, and Lance is just happy to talk about home :)
-Just when Lance thinks he’s free of zombies, now they have space zombies Zarkon and Honerva to deal with.
-Time travel technology is thankfully developed long after people like Haggar and Zarkon are gone. Otherwise… yikes.
-But perhaps the team do end up on a journey to the past and meet the paladins of old??? (Time travel existing is too good to pass up). But trying to change the past leads to time police showing up. What happens to Altea is a canon event :((
-In reference to this comic (that I’m for some reason now thinking about) Lance can now show the alteans the dinosaurs when they come visit Earth.
-Lance finally understands what those soothsquito bites that said ‘Leware Botor’ were all about. A little too late though.
-Sendak doesn’t even know what to think when he tries to invade Gravity Falls. Everywhere else but the garrison was easy. And then there’s this place. What do you mean they have a gnome Voltron?? Your average galra will try and stay clear. It’s lawless, eerie. Troops go missing here. Sendak has had enough of it.

AU where Dyak’s and Lotor’s relationship is actually developed. And although she’s still a Stern Space!McGonagal or Space!MaryPoppins, she doesn’t use that frikkin riding crop while teaching basic history, and actually learns how to be tender.
#vld salt#dyak#lotor#...at this point I only acknowledge ‘canon’ when I have to#Romelle and the Alteans will ALWAYS deserve their space#on the other hand.#WHY tF was that even there#there were so. so many other ways to go for Antagonistic and/or Villainous Lotor than...THAT#so yeah. I won’t be using it in quite a bit of my fanon#(and having a mixed race kid be abused since childhood then made into a villain worse than his parents by narrative framing...#(that is SERIOUSLY Icky. and all the other mixed race characters besides Darling WhiteCoded Keef got that same brush)#so. yeah. I will NOT use it unless it’s a direct Fixit that deals with That Point in the timestream#(so basically...only for BlackBox verse (temporarily) and Gemini. maybe a post s8 AU)

No cause let's talk about it. Mind you I will get pissed off as I go and my typos will get worse with my rage. This is the warning.
The whole idea that Alteans were some God like perfect, faultless race was some serious horseshit. Cause I just know that the only reason they made Allura look black is because they knew how similar Alteans were to actual real world colonizers. Tell me, seriously tell me, after careful consideration, that Altean bullshittery doesnt sound like the early stages of british colonization.
Like here you have these aliens with a whole monarchy system going on that go about boasting about their intergalactic diplomat status like Alfor and his buddies weren't going around to all these other planets and taking over those places by instilling this idea that nobody can survive without them. For a race that prided itaelf on being diplomats these people, specifically Allura and Coran were pretty shit at being diplomatic. Half of Allura and Coran's dialogue has a comment belittling other races. They run around calling people primitive and acting like they are their saviors. Allura in particular is given this nasty god status by every oppressed race and like not once does she ever turn down that label.
And the whole bs with Alfor making fucking WAR MACHINES to fight some rebels???? This man made a whole world ending war machine to fight a bunch of dudes with blasters and swords. Like talk about being a psychopath. But noooo we have gotta point out how evil and mean Zarkon is.
Like Zarkon was just as badly effected by the rift as Honerva was, hell Honerva was the one who was going absolutely insane and went off her rocker because of her ambition and hunger for power and knowledge. All Zarkon wanted to do was bring her back, and then when the rift became unstable what did this idiot supposed diplomat super genius suoer godlike bitch Alfor do? He blew up the entire fucking planet???!
Thia fuckass hoe blew up the home of an entire race, the entire civilization, everything gone up in air in one fell swoop. He turned an entire race into refugees who no longer had a home, nothing that belonged to them and nowhere they belonged. He left them at the mercy of other races and everyone knows what happens to refugees in refugee camps. Why am I making this political? Its just a cartoon! Well fucking Alfor made it political!
And what the fuck is Zarkon supposed to do now? His people are stranded, they are left living on board ships for thousands upon thousands of years because some bitch ass doesnt know how to make decisions cause he's only got the seat via nepotism. Oh no but Zarkon is the bad guy here, Alfor and his quirkily racist daughter are the Godlike pure people.
Oh and its so vile cause as long as Lotor is the good guy he's his mother's son, he's an Altean. Such a good man because of his race uwu. But the moment he turns evil he is suddenly a galran? Like it wasnt his mother who was the one who cause he entire fuck up in the firat place because of her very Altean pride, obsession and ambition??? Like FUCK Allura and Keith's bonding and the blades proving the Galrans are not all bad, Allura returns to making it all about Lotor's race. Her growth? Non existent!
Oh and dont even get me started on the whole redemption arc bs, if anything Honerva was the LEAST deserving if a redemption arc since she was always the one responsible for half the chaos that happened in the flashbacks that led to Zarkon becoming evil, though the final nail in the coffin was put in by Alfor, that bitch! What did Zarkon do? Want to protect his people? Love his wife?? Take revenge for his lost home??? Oh such evil in one man, I have NEVER seen a more villainous reason ever!
The canon universe alteans were just one step away from becoming the evil Alteans from the alternate universe.
Zarkon deserved that redemption arc he was the one who deserved to be understood, whose motive deserved to understood and brought to the forefront and those motives, the realisation of Alfor's stupidity and more and how it fucked over the Galrans should have been a lot more important than that clone fight, than whatever stupid crap that was in the final season.
Lance becoming Altean was such a horseshit move just to appease lance stans cause it had no relevance to anything. So you can transfer races now? Or is this just another gimmick out of Allura's random bag of convenient magic tricks. Please it was absolutely pointless. He becomes a damn FARMER! WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK??
Oh and the awful AWFUL queer rep, from a dead Blaytz to dead lesbian villains killed in the same ep where they are revealed to be lesbians, to Shiro suddenly getting erased from the memory of every single main character and turning into this background stock image or silent non existent entity. Just say you are terrified of letting your main characters interact with a gay man and go. Not to mention I think Shiro was gonna die in season 2 and they just bought him back because merch. He became more and more pointless and if they hadnt wasted so much time on trying to shove him into the story and by extension making the entire thing a clown show we'e have gotten actual development for Lance and Hunk (though Hunk is wishful thinking cause who cares about the overweight guy who isnt conventionally attractive, nah just pair him with a sentient rock and call it interracial romance points).
Krolia was such a waste of opportunity ngl, she could have been so cool, instead we got tall purple Keith but with tits and a generic ass no name man. Also HORRID character design.
Kosmo the teleporting dog was just a cute mascot addition to Keith because they couldn't make Keith even more of a Gary Stu by giving him the teleportation ability, now could they? I like dogs, I love them, but in a universe so vaste with so many creatures, a space wolf looks like a literal fancy dog???
And that last season was actually garbage. Controversial opinion, Shiro should have stayed dead and I say this as someone who liked him, the redemption arc was bullshit, Allura dying made no logical or narrative sense, that last minute wedding with the dude who had no name and was called the wrong name in the audio version was ridiculous.
Honestly, I am kinda glad Zarkon died before they could butcher him anymore in real time
If i started bitching about just how horseshit and undeserving vld was of praise you'd have to end me to actually get me to stop. It had shit writing, the absolute worst characterization, no flow of the narrative, the plot was flimsy, shit just happened for the sake of happening, had the absolute worst form of rep, the red-blue bullshit blinded people into thinking they were watching rep when 90% of the time the characters barely even progressed cause the writers couldn't write dynamics for SHIT. The only compelling dynamic was between Shiro and Keith and even that got so tired and irritating to follow and ofcourse the gay guy became a nobody to the main cast the moment he was revealed as gay! And we had to root for glorified colonizers who belittled literally everyone they came across and people just overlooked it cause the princess's skin colour was black, the actual best dynamic potential between Hunk and Lance was never explored, Pidge just did shit with zero consequence and the show staff just said and did shit knowing full well people would eat out of their palms and then on being called out acted like they had a moral high ground.

I believe you and many others have misinterpreted Chloé’s role in the show. She was never meant to be sympathetic, tragic or comedic. She is a hate sink (like that Cecil character you wrote). Her whole existence is to be hated, both in universe and out. Not redeemable, nor something to laugh at, but purely to be hated.
You know what? I've been trying to avoid saying it, but for the sake of this answer, I'm going to allude to spoilers for Season 5 via what was recently found in the scripts. So, if you don't want to be exposed to that, please don't read more.
See, I get you, but they didn't do a good job at actually establishing that. It's true that there was no hard evidence to Chloe having a hidden heart of gold, just that she's more sensitive than she lets on. That said, with the way everything was written, her role as a hate sink was shoddily done at best and actively harmful at worst. I've had the misfortune of reading some of the leaked stuff for Season 5 and it leans more and more into being outright harmful, giving some awful lessons about troubled youth and how they should be handled. It's true that it "cements" Chloe as a hate sink, but it does it by bringing up an event that had zero foreshadowing in the show up to this point and felt like it was only there to tell everyone "SEE?! CHLOE'S THE BAD GUY! SHE'S ALWAYS THE BAD GUY! SHE'S A MONSTER! NOW STOP THINKING SHE WAS EVER GOOD AND STOP LIKING HER!" It's on par with Lotor and the Colony Arc from Voltron Legendary Defender in its execution, possibly even worse than it, and with how it ruined more characters as well as some relationships in retrospect (Not just referring to relationships for Chloe, mind you), I refuse to acknowledge it as canon.
Again, I know you have problems with Chloe and I get that the intent for Chloe was that she was meant to be a hate sink, but when the intent is wrought with awful execution and also includes some horrible implications concerning not only Chloe, but a bunch of the other characters, I don't feel obligated to respect that intent. Season 5 brought up a deluge of horrible decisions made for most of the characters. Chloe is just one of them. At this point, with the show becoming so toxic that most of the characters don't feel like themselves anymore, I refuse to call it canon and I believe you should do the same if you actually respect any of the characters. In any case, you're not gonna change my mind on Chloe nor am I gonna change my writing for her just to suit some arbitrary rule for the fandom. I'm already putting her through the Karmic Wringer anyways, so I don't see why you're complaining. Please stop trying to make me hate characters you do. To cap this off, let me repost this:

Oh, and before you make any assumptions, none of this is me saying that Marinette deserved any of the bullying. Just because I don't hate a bully character doesn't mean I think that the people they bullied deserved it. That's just idiotic. I care about Marinette, quite a lot actually, and I hate what Season 5 ends up doing to her in regards to her character.

Heyo! So, less of a question, but I just wanted to say that your fic has officially become my go-to whenever I need some delicious Good!Lotor in my life. Like just the other day I started thinkin how dirty canon did him and had to reread your fic to make me feel better. Oh! heres a question (tho you may address it in LB, but...): what are your thoughts on Canon's Haggar/honerva redemption where as lotor was last scene as a melted blob? I could sorely use some Lotor defense rn....
(⁄ ⁄>⁄‿ ⁄<⁄ ⁄) ahhhhhhhh that's very sweet of you to say, tysm my love!! Lotor honestly deserved so much better than canon ultimately gave him, so I am happy to be of service ♡
As for condemned!Lotor vs redeemed!Honerva....................... I have gone OFF on this topic several times before and it drives me absolutely mad every damn time because,,, like,,,,,, what a fucking joke?? So the abused child was, yes, willing to sacrifice the few to save the many, but in wHAT FUCKING WORLD IS THAT WORSE THAN HAGGAR WHO EXPERIMENTED / TORTURED / KILLED FOR PERSONAL GAIN AND ALSO CREATED THE KOMAR?
R E A L L Y
I don't think I can surmise my distaste for this particular Choice™ any more concisely than I did in the tags of a post from three years ago:

ooh there should be a fic where the team’s trapped in an alien family game show and can only choose one member to escape while the rest remain trapped there forever and keith and lance are the only ones to vote for each other, tying in with how the creators said lance will end up with someone who chooses him first, and then lance explains that he picked keith because he’s the future (his future perhaps??? 👀 ) and- oh wait a minute.
wouldn't it be so fun if there was a fic in which lance saves keith's life with an impressive shot and keith is so stunned by it that he literally stops in the middle of a battle to stare with his mouth wide open. or maybe even a fic in which keith is upset about something and the entire team looks in lance's direction expectantly except lance doesn't even see them and instead he goes over to comfort keith out of his own volition because he cares and they all know he cares which is why they- oh. wait. never mind
#and people say they’re not canon#klance#keith x lance#vld laith#vld#they should’ve been canon you cowards 😩😭#istg i will remake voltron and give it a better ending#for all the characters i mean#some of them deserved better#*cough* lotor *cough*#*cough* give lance an actual arc instead of tossing him aside *cough*#*cough* HAVE EVERYONE ELSE ON THE TEAM ACKNOWLEDGE HOW THEY TREATED HIM POORLY AND MADE HIS INSECURITIES EVEN WORSE AND APOLOGIZE FOR IT#AND MAKE IT UP TO HIM AND VALIDATE HIM BY SAYING HE IS GOOD ENOUGH AND HE IS THEIR SHARPSHOOTER#AND HE IS IMPORTANT AND LOVED AND THE TEAM WOULDN’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIM *cough*#*cough* ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT KEITH WAS ABOUT TO KILL HIMSELF AND WOULD’VE ACTUALLY HAD LOTOR NOT STEPPED IN *cough*#man sorry i keep coughing my throat must be dry#anyway#voltron legendary defender

"You speak to me of weakness? You've become nothing more than one of the witch's monsters! Does she control you as well?" - Lotor to Zarkon, 5x02
This line says a lot. Lotor telling his father that he’s nothing more than a raving monster on someone else’s leash is deeply insulting. Not only does it further exemplify just how little Lotor thinks of Zarkon, it also speaks to his contempt for Haggar as well as acknowledges just how much power she has. Lotor hates Zarkon, but he hates his mother more and sees her as the bigger threat and therefore reserves more fear and caution towards her capabilities.
This mentality also probably contributed to his prompt execution of Narti after realizing that she was a spy for his mother. Though it would have been hard to cut down a companion so easily, in that moment, he probably saw her more as a dehumanized puppet than a person and his fear of Haggar and the potential discovery of his plans outweighed his sentiments towards his general.
Lotor considers being someone’s puppet to be a weakness. A terrible fate for one who deeply desires freedom and agency such as himself, which is why he goes to such great lengths to avoid his parent’s authority. He desperately wants a sense of control over his life and would naturally fear being used by someone else, especially Haggar.
And that’s exactly what becomes of Lotor.
His worst nightmare became a reality as his body was used against his will as a vessel for further destruction he didn’t concede to and then readily disposed of. He was forced to become the obedient monster - a mindless weapon - of the one person he feared and hated most. I dearly hope he wasn’t conscious enough to realize that he was her prisoner but given how he was cognizant of Allura’s presence to some degree, I kind of doubt he even had that small mercy. For him, this would truly be a fate worse than death and one he did not deserve...

I really can't decide if sven/shiro being a villian or not existing and possibly have his role as romelles boyfriend taken over by lance hunk or pidge is worse for him. Though given him sidelining keith in VLD either one is well deserved.
I think in this case, a villain would actually work pretty well for a few reasons -
A human villain with a connection to the cast, even if it's a minor one, helps to create personal stakes that a minor Drule/Galra boss doesn't immediately have. He gives the cast a personal connection and an additional sense of catharsis to his defeat (another thing that VLD lacked in spades).
Because the director and producer hate the character so much, there's no need to really hold back with how cruel he's portrayed. There's no need to blunt the effectiveness of him.
Killing Shiro/Sven as the main villain makes it easier to build to the other Drule/Galra villains more properly, rather than having to rush to Zarkon and Lotor's defeat.
You can still give Romelle time with the other cast after Shiro/Sven is dead.
So for all those reasons, I think Shiro/Sven as the main villain of the first film along with a Drule/Galra accomplice makes a lot of sense.

Voltron Part 29
Okay, guys, gals and nonbinary pals. It's time for the season 6 finale! As always I'll also put my thoughts bout this season as a whole into this part. Hope you enjoy!:
Lotor, hows the weather like in there? You know? Up your arse. Because you're so fucking full of yourself
Is Keith's scar-thingy permanent?
Lotor: "Omae wa mou shindeiru"
Voltron: "NANI?!"
This asshole is worse than Abra with all these teleports
Remember when I said that this show couldn't get more anime, when Sailor Moon appeared? Well now they've got a sword...... that's on fire
Pidge you just send you lion head/Voltron's fist flying towards Lotor. Weren't you sitting in that?
Allura, why won't you leave Lotor in the quintessence-realm? Do you still have feeeeliiiings?
Is it done? Is the ass dead?
Let the joyous news be spread, that wicked old ass at last is dead!
Good. Won't miss him
Noooo! Not the castle!
Sailor Moon hasn't said a word the last few episodes. But simply by standing next to Allura, I know that this ship exists
I love the idea of them saving the universe, while having all of their shit packed into the lions
They're just glorified U-haul trucks now
Hunk, what kind of eagle-eyes do you have to have seen this castle-diamond-thingy?
I don't really care about Shance. But I appreciate the scene of Lance angsting over Shiro
Heeeeey!!! "Shiro" is Shiro again!
But why the fuck is all of his hair white (gray?) now?
Also, wouldn't it feel fucking weird to just like not have your body anymore. And instead someone else's. Even if it's an exact replica of you....
But, also: SHEITH!
They're finally going to earth!!!! I've predicted it since season 2 and now it's finally happening!
Thoughts on the season as a whole:
I really, really liked this season
Seriously, better than season5 and much better than season4
Many good episodes, fave was probably "Cheaper by the dozen, but it's just Shiro" because of !Sheith!
But the DnD episode was also really good
I disliked that Keith aged 2 years on the space whale, to bond with his mom
Because it wasn't acknowledged AT ALL. Even though 2 years is such a long time!
I'm still conflicted about this whole "Shiro was actually a clone" thing
Might actually make another "Rant"-post about this
(Also, in terms of foreshadowing: Apparently "Kuron" literally means clone. So I can see how that theory existed.)
(I just knew, that "Kuro" means black. And I thought that this was supposed to mirror the Shiro-white thing)
{Huge thanks to @living-for-fiction and especially @non-plutonian-druid for explaining!}
It's nice to have Keith back in the MAIN-main cast. Feels good to have him back. Missed him
Shiro is his own whole situation. I'm glad to have him back. I just hope that the writers won't fuck his character up
Lance had some serious self-reflection since season1. And I actually kinda enjoy him now. Being so smitten by Allura is kinda cute
Allura is weird. She's got that whole angst/confidence issue going on, because she was fooled by Lotor. But honestly, she's kind of right. She really should have been more suspicious of him
(Also: Why didn't you "die" this finale?)
Pidge is my sassy, unhinged nerd daughter. And no one can take that away from me
Hunk is my nerdy, sunshine boy who's a little bit too much into cooking. But I still love him, and he had some good scenes
Lotor's dead. Good. Finally. Hated him from the start. He was irredeemable ever since he killed Furry
Moustache man is great. I'm still mad that the fandom gave Shiro the title of "Space dad", when he's clearly so much more deserving of it
Krolia, Sailor Moon and space wolf..... seem interesting? They haven't had any real time to shine
Though I still absolutely love Sailor Moon's design
Sheith! There was so much Sheith! And that's great! So much content! And honestly, these two just have the best dynamic between all the characters
Allurance is cute. And I'm kinda rooting for it now. I just hope, that it won't be as one-sided anymore
Lotura had a kiss! But also, one of the people involved in this ship died. So.... I'm sorry for any Lotura shippers
Klance, Plance and Punk had a few crumbs here and there
Shallura starved the past few seasons, and is now a skeleton in the corner. It's cute, but there's like no canon content/potential anymore
Predictions/Hopes for season 7:
Are they gonna do a space road trip to get to earth? Will they make truckstops, sit in a diner and drink milkshakes?
When Voltron combines, do you think that everyone inside can just walk from one lion to another? I want them to just, float through space, combined as Voltron, living out their lives.
Seriously, just imagine them, basically using their giant-murder-robot as a house
Sorry, Allura. But I want Keith to replace you again. You can do your own thing with this castle-diamond-thingy and the team-constellation of S1 and S2 returns
ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT KEITH AGED 2 FUCKING YEARS!
Season 1+2 felt like one big arc, and it ended in a mech battle against Zarkon. Season 3-6 felt like one big arc and ended in a mech battle against Lotor. I'm gonna guess that S7+8 are the next big arc, which will also end in a mech battle, probably against space witch
I'm honestly expecting the worst, because everyone seems to dislike S7. So.... maybe I'll be positively suprised
I've noticed that the parts, where I just review 1 episode are getting more notes? Are these smaller, bit-sized parts better to read?
Anyways! Once again, thanks for all the support I've been getting! It's really fun to read your guy's comments! Appreciate all kinds of notes! Love Y'all!!!❤
