They had over four seasons.

Socqueline was in an arts and crafts store in Paris throughout the entire run of Miraculous. There was nothing that indicated she left Paris. Just that she was forced out of College Dupont. She was in a store that Marinette could probably walk or take a bus to so the latter could see her "best friend." This also could've been a place that Marinette hung out in to pursue her dream as a designer. This is a place that Marinette could've brought people like Alya, Mylene, Juleka, Rose, Alyx, and many others to. Yet we never got a scene like that, much less one where they got to meet Socqueline.

They had four seasons to implement this character into the show. Four seasons that all had a consistent count of 26 half-hour episodes, something that most cartoons these days WISH they had, along with some specials. They had all of that time and their only "hint" to Socqueline's existence until Season 5 was Marinette changing her hairstyle before the series.

This is not a character you just drop into a series. They had plenty of opportunities to introduce Socqueline and how important she was to Marinette. If she was this important to her, SHE SHOULD'VE BEEN IN THE SHOW FROM THE START. I don't care what justifications you have. This is garbage and given that this is supposed to be for a character who was SUPER important to Marinette as a person, it's even worse. At most, beyond the fake Ladybug episode, it feels like the main purpose of her character is to shoehorn in a ridiculous incident into Chloe's list of crimes. An incident that doesn't even make sense even when she's there. For someone who's supposed to be Marinette's idol, it sure is interesting that she wasn't even a presence in the show until she cosplayed as Marinette's alter-ego in SEASON FUCKING FIVE.

And before you cry and tell me I'm being mean, this is not me "hating someone who protected Marinette with her life." This is me hating the writers shoehorning in a character that was supposedly super-important to the main character and then treating her like a fucking guest star. They made her as a narrative tool to justify Marinette's questionable behavior. That's not good and if this was actually planned from the start, that's even worse. You shouldn't be proud that they basically left a character in the backburner for four seasons (over a HUNDRED EPISODES) and then plant her in Season 5 without even giving us a hint of her existence beforehand. That is fanfic tier writing. I know this because I write it myself.

Please have better standards for your shows.

TOP 10 CARTOONS ON FANFICTION.NET BASED ON NUMBER OF FANFICTION (1999-2022)

To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Cartoons Section on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.

In 2000-2006, FFN used Miscellaneous Cartoons as a catch-all tag for all cartoons that didn’t have their own category yet. It was then renamed to Misc. Cartoons in 2007 before it was moved to the Misc. section in 2008.

Code Lyoko and Avatar: The Last Airbender were actually miscategorized at first and were found in the Anime section from 2004-2007 (2005-2007 for ATLA). I used their data from that section for those years.

In 1999, fanfiction weren’t divided into sections like Anime/Manga, TV, Books, etc. yet. It was just a small list of mixed fandoms.

Originally, the fanfiction list was sorted alphabetically too, but was changed to number of fics at around early 2013.

By November 2013, FFN started abbreviating numbers above 1,000 to K, so exact numbers aren't available for series with more than 1,000 fanfiction.

This bar chart was made with the assumption that the numbers listed in the Cartoons section are correct. I can't seem to get the same numbers for some of these categories when I go to the specific categories' page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All though... I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. (And it’s not the crossover fic numbers that need to be added to serie’s total fics from what I’ve observed.)

"so, what's going on? is the next chapter being worked on?" (Miraculous Ninja update)

I'm gonna be honest. It's really difficult to do and the latest season of Miraculous definitely had a hand in progress being slow due to how demotivating it ended up being, but there's also IRL issues such as jobs, getting involved in protests, and figuring out my financial situation that has bogged it down further. I don't want to go into too much detail on that, but more than anything...there's this worry that with what I have planned for the story, there's this growing fear that what I could put out next may disappoint or even alienate my audience. It's not helped by how much I've disparaged the latest season, which may have set me up to disappoint if the next chapters don't surpass it in quality.

That said, in spite of all these fears, one thing is clear:

I will not allow myself to cancel this story.

This is one of the first stories that I've actively managed to map out and write out a good chunk of. Before that, there were many stories that I either never put out or dump at the first couple chapters and with Miraculous Ninja, I cannot let that happen again. Moreover, I want to be able to make this crossover more common not only because of how similar they are, but because these two shows deserve to be unified no matter what either of them struggle with. So, please bear with me and I can assure you that I WILL continue this. I can't promise when the next chapter will come out, but I am going to put it out there. It's just a matter of regaining the focus I need to continue this story.

Danny Phantom: Well, he's impulsive, unfocused, egocentric, has no clue what half of his weapons do, has no plan, passes out in a book during battle, almost blew Jake and I up 4 times, DID blow up multiple buildings, tried to shift the blame about blowing up the buildings, accidentally attacked Jake with bees, and has a irrational fear of chickens. Surprisingly the chicken thing is a first for me.

Kim Possible: So he's a perfect addition to the team?

Danny Phantom: ... yes.

Kim Possible: Great! You're in charge of him.
