I've been itching to draw folk costumes for a while now so i figured i'd jump on the international Miku trend! These Mikus are from Ternopil, Ukraine; and Tula, Russia - one for each side of my family <3
Here are the sources I used for each costume:
TERNOPIL -
youtube
TULA:
#hatsune miku#international miku#ukraine#russia#traditional clothing#folk costume#ternopil#tula#i don't know all the details about my family history or origin besides the general area each side comes from or used to live in#we can only go so far back because i come from a long and consistent line of serfs and peasants who weren't really in any written records#but in general my mother's family comes from western ukraine (specifically the ternopil region)#and my father's russian family comes from around the tula region in the south of russia? sorta?#besides that his jewish family lived in the pale of settlement in belarus today. so maybe i'll make a shtetl miku later#for now tumblr pls accept this humble offering#idk how to use a drawing tablet and i dont really want to learn. i like my colored pencils ;-;#back on my bullshit#Youtube

Maduro saying he will build two maximum security prisons, to make them “reeducation, farming and work centers”
He's going to build concentration camps for people who oppose him. THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP KIDNAPING PEOPLE WHO OPPOSE HIM AND JUST SEND THEN THERE TO RE-EDUCATE THEM this is insane.
Chavistas are targeting people who were in the pacific protests, they are marking house by house all the people who participated or who think differently. How can people who are outside of Venezuela see this and do nothing, IT'S LITERALLY HITLER IN PERSON, HE'S MARKING HOUSES AND TAKING CHILDREN TO CONCENTRATION CAMPS.
A 13 year old girl was arrested for committing "terrorism" crimes A 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL.
Don't fall for the lies of non-Venezuelans trying to explain to you what's happening here, this is not about ideologies, IT'S A DICTATORSHIP THAT NEEDS TO LEAVE NOW.
Our real elected president is EDMUNDO GONZÁLEZ.

one of the things I think a lot of goyim esp western based don’t clock about Jews is that a lot of the places we lived before mass immigration to the US&west and the creation of the state of Israel not only often pretty violently killed or expelled us, but were and are sights of continual warfare and dislocation that was and continued to be fucked up by external and internal conflict, by the direct actions of the British ottoman French American and Russian imperialisms….. Jews only became a “western” people through the acts of violent dislocations from our homelands we’d often lived in for hundreds and thousands of years.
We lived in Afghanistan. We lived in Yemen. We lived in Iraq. We lived in Serbia. We lived in Bosnia & Herzegovina. We lived in Belarus. We lived in Ethiopia. We lived in Algeria. We lived in Morocco. We lived in Syria. We lived in Iran. We lived in Kurdistan. And we lived in Ukraine. We often have complicated histories with these places, varying extents to which we identified with them or with the nationalisms that drew their borders, but we lived there, and in so many ways, from our language to stories to food, we carry them with us and are hurt by the loss of their memory in our lives, pushed into the diaspora of the diaspora. None of this justifies the often profoundly violent antisemitisms we found there, nor should it allow for simple rounds of flag waving - our communities were almost always older than the modern states, and many institutionalized Jewishness as something irreconcilable from the modern National Citizen. But we lived there. Inextricably we are a part of their history, just as they are a part of us.
Any simplistic takes about how Israeli jews should just LEAVE AND GO HOME without understanding the contexts of why that isn’t possible not only whitewashes histories of violent antisemitism but also the CURRENT ongoing realities in many of the countries we lived in, and it comes off not only as callous to Jews but to the people who continue to live there, after our links were severed. Any antizionism that doesn’t seriously reckon with these histories is incomplete. “Why don’t you go back to where you came from?” The American goy asks. I think of my friends and community. To Odessa? Or to Baghdad? To Aleppo? Or to Herat? YOU TELL ME.
#Seeing Syria and Ukraine brought in as a check me for IS Jews is wild in terms of where do you think we’re from#And also why might people not be able to go back this very minute???#The antisemitism ALOnE is bad enough but there are yet MORE REASOns#Anyway it’s just yeah. Watching the news. We used to live there!#Sarajevo and Baghdad and Aleppo and Damascus#And Kyiv but Odessa especially …. At different times these cities have been really important to Jews! We were there!

Given the outrageous cost of rent, real estate, groceries, and every other aspect of life in and around Toronto, it's understandable why so many people have chosen to leave Ontario for other places where pastures are greener — that is, cheaper.
But as hard as it is to get by here, is the city unaffordable enough to push you to relocate to an actual warzone just because existence there is far less costly? Some people are saying yes, it is.
More than 160,000 Ukrainian refugees have landed in Canada since their nation's war with Russia began in 2022, but even with the ongoing invasion, many are choosing to go back to their homeland after finding cities like Toronto too expensive to survive in.

“children live here”... “people”... “people here”... “children”... “people and children”...
Inscriptions on the walls and fence gates of Ukrainian houses, mostly houses that are now destroyed.

"My grandfather had sheep, oxen, and a cow. People in masks came, knocked down the wall, and took everything: furniture, clothes, oil, flour, cattle. When they wanted to take the cow, the grandmother refused, and they struck her. The grandfather grabbed a pitchfork and did not allow them to take it. But he was threatened that they would take it anyway. The cow lived with us in the house. One day, while we were sleeping, I heard a cow being taken out so I called my father. When we went into the yard, we saw a butchered cow with hooves wrapped so that it wouldn't make noise while being taken out. My father gave the meat to hungry people. In 1932, we planted a lot of potatoes, and they grew well. We put the harvested potatoes in a hole and covered them with a layer of straw. In the morning, we got up, but there was no straw or potatoes, and just the ones that were in the house remained. When the potatoes were boiled, our neighbour came and asked to give her potato shells for her children. My grandfather was a fisherman. He would catch fish and give it to people. Once, they wanted to take the fish from him, but the people stood up to protect him, saying the words: "Come to the boat, we will strangle you with our bare hands." I remember my mother and I going to visit my godmother. We arrived there, came into the house, and saw her sitting at the table, swollen and dead."
These memories from the National Book of Memory of the Kherson region belong to Mariia Pidvorok (née Kudas), born in 1921. She survived the Holodomor in the village of Kozachi Laheri of the Oleshky community. Today, the village located near the long-suffering Krynky is under occupation. It suffered significant destruction: a three-story school designed for a thousand students, a kindergarten, a dispensary, a pharmacy, a church, residential and social infrastructure were damaged. In June 2023, as a result of Russians undermining the Kakhovka HPP, Kozachi Laheri was partially flooded. "Another prosperous village in the Kherson region is disappearing. Before the war, it had a population of about 3,722 people. Today, it is a wasteland where the Russian military wanders and robs the property of local residents," states the Telegram channel "Ukrainian South".

May I request a Tooth Fairy grilling. the mental image of it is just funny. autism be damned this dentist can work a grill
this is my fav request so far (i put all my knowledge about american culture here /hj)
i want another event with greenlake cast where they go on a road-trip through the states (with TooF and Z as drivers) and have the most 🦅🦅🦅 american 🇺🇸🇺🇸 experience 🤠🤠🤠 ever. some shenanigans later and they have a grill cookout, because TooF was bragging about her new grill that she got on a yard sale and was waiting for a moment when she could finally grill. she comes out with a grill in this glory of an outfit (i thought about putting her in a moo moo, but this screams more homosexual)
i would love to put the rest of greenlake cast in a spectrum of queer fashion, but for now only Madam Z, Sonetto and Vertin
update: i found a better shirt for TooF grill outfit… regretting not checking twitter before that
#ask box#reverse 1999#r1999#re1999#madam z x tooth fairy#implied but still#they do not come in separate but always 2 for 1#reverse 1999 tooth fairy#madam z reverse 1999#madam z#tooth fairy#sonetto reverse 1999#vertin reverse 1999#i haven’t got a grilled meat in a while#this is a bittersweet storytime but#for the most of my life i lived in a small town on a south of ukraine#and we have a town celebration where we usually have a bunch of stalls with people grilling#but because of the war we couldn’t have this ‘town’s day’ celebration#so volunteers gathered by the biggest supermarket and grilled on that day
