This man buys your kid so many presents it's genuinely concerning. Your child is spoilt to hell and back by Fukuchi. You need to discourage him from this behaviour STAT

He constantly uses dad words like 'buddy' and 'pal' and 'kiddo' to refer to your kid and they eventually start responding to these nicknames lol

He would totally also do dad stances and just embrace the fatherly aura that is slowly overtaking him day by day (bro starts falling asleep on the couch while the game's on at 9pm)

He's actually surprisingly gentle with your child. If they cry he'll pick them up and comfort them very well. He's like a whole different person when your kid is scared or sad- it's the cutest thing ever

If your child ever gets him a Fathers' Day present he'll probably cry like old man tears of joy. In fact if your child ever does anything nice for him he'll be incredibly touched. Kinda reminds him what he's doing his job for :')

Tells your child great exaggerated (CHILD FRIENDLY) stories about his heroic achievements as a soldier before bed. It's genuinely super cute you guys

If the kid ever runs up to him in excitement when he arrives home in the evening he returns the energy and is like 'omg there they are! that's my kiddo! how have you been??' and picks them up and AUGH they're so cute

Your child is probably scared of him at first. Within their first meeting he probably makes them cry.

Sorry y'all 😭 but he doesn't exactly come off as much of a teddy bear...and nor does he really act like one with anyone else other than you in private

Jouno just isn't good with kids. Not in the sense that he's scared of them but that he doesn't really know how to interact with them without being intimidating or otherwise just detached

But he really loves you, and he wants to be a good parental figure to your kid, so he tries to warm them up to him by getting them a gift. That probably helps- he might not know much about kids but he's right to assume that they fucking love receiving gifts

Whatever your child's hobbies/interests are, Jouno genuinely does try to connect with them over it, and after a while it does work.

Soon enough your child and Jouno are inseparable and your child is spewing sadistic military rhetoric and oh dear god you've made a terrible mistake introducing the two of them

Yeah, Jouno probably teaches your kid all KINDS of horrible things. He will tell your child stories about times he's tortured suspects, or slaughtered gangs, and just stuff that is not family friendly. You have to nip that behaviour in the bud or else...

He's generally pretty good at taking care of your child, but like, if your kid cried because they were scared there was a monster under the bed, Jouno would probably be like "Yeah. There is. Good luck." and then turn off the lights and leave 💀

Just give him time. He'll learn how to be an emotionally available parent at SOME point

Tecchou:

He's not the step dad. He's the dad that stepped up

Tecchou is definitely very aloof and awkward around your child- like, he knows how to interact with you, but children are different. Children are frightening. And they are his biggest fear maybe

In spite of this, he is fiercely protective of your kid. He will make sure that child is as safe and calm as possible at all times, and he certainly prefers to show that he cares through actions rather than words.

He usually wouldn't initiate physical contact with your child but if they hugged him he would hug back, if they gave him a hi-five he would do it back, etc etc. he will never let your kid down

If your child likes make belief, you can bet you'd walk into a room and find your kid all dressed up, off their rocker in full theatre mode, while Tecchou is sitting on the floor, also dressed up, but looking more depressed than ever before

Save him from your baby. They are taking YEARS off his life

He probably accidentally sends your kid to hospital at some point because he cooked for them. Damnit Tecchou, how don't you realise that a child's stomach wouldn't be able to handle a combination of chocolate and beef

It's okay though, he does learn from this. Plus, he takes care of your child and buys them presents and hangs out with them until they're better <3

He might not join your child in the ball pit, but he would watch them swim around in there with the softest, faintest, most affectionate smile on his face. And that is all that matters folks

Teruko (platonic):

The funnest, meanest, coolest auntie ever

Teruko will lead your child down a dreadful path. Limit their visits to holidays and birthdays for your own sake and the sake of your young one

She's really more than happy to negatively influence look after your child if you need her to though, and they love her because she's super chill and lets them get away with all kinds of things (that aren't violent crimes against humanity)

Your parent says one cookie after dinner? Screw it, have six. I won't tell if you won't. - Teruko, probably

She uses her ability to entertain your kid sometimes- usually she'll decrease her age so she can join them in things like building pillow forts and playing on jungle gyms

I'm just picturing them playing at the park and some concerned parent coming up to them asking where their guardian is and Teruko just fucking transforms into a grown woman on the spot and goes 'WHO'S ASKING' 😭

Teruko is a super cool fun aunt. But she is very wise, and she really will give your kid good life advice on occasion.

She'll also cheer them up when they're feeling down, and if they're feeling scared she helps them step out of their comfort zones and confront their fears (in a safe way!!)

If your kid is like, getting picked on at school or something, Teruko will nag you to phone their school about it. If you don't, she does. If they don't do anything about it, she does. Bottom line is NOBODY fucks with your kid when Teruko is around

Tachihara:

Help he's so nervous at first? Tachihara this is a child, not a wise sage- you can be normal around them

He just wants to make a good impression on the child okay he's doing his best

But (obviously) your kid immediately loves him, and thinks he's the coolest guy ever, and wants to hang out with him all the time

Tachihara has a bit of a concern that the kid will think that he's trying to replace their other parent, which is fair, but it's unfounded because your child absolutely adores him and does not care about that at all

If your child ever calls him 'Dad' watch his soul fucking transcend to a new plane, he's so surprised and honoured that this beautiful person's child would consider him their parent

Your kid has Tachihara wrapped around their tiny finger. He will oblige them with anything- if you've got a toddler who likes uppies and piggybacks, say your prayers for Tachihara's upper arm and back muscles because he will carry them for hours

You really need him to stop leaving weaponry around the house, though- the absolute HEART ATTACK you had when you saw your precious baby carrying around an unloaded pistol

Ngl, König looks straight-up terrifying when you catch him looking at you.

The only way to get him to stop is either by asking him, or, the more preferable option, distracting him.

How you distract him is up to you, but you both have your...preferences.

When König has to be somewhere but is feeling a certain kind of way, he'll literally paw at you like a cat, his eyes round and pleading.

Or, if he's more dominant, he'll just pounce on you, pinning him beneath him and making sure you're not going anywhere, unable to walk for the rest of the day.

Granted, he's not a fan of quickies, so he'll either chase his release by taking you in your sleep, or risk being late to whatever it is he's engaged with.

Whenever he looks over at you in the morning, he can't help but reflect on how lucky he is, how fortunate he must be to have you at his side each day to show him what love - true love - feels like.

He can get a bit emotional when he looks at you during mornings like these, but it's only because he loves you so much.

The most likely to be a tease out of everyone here.

While he won't wake you from a deep slumber, he'll sure as hell try and annoy you in the minutes after you wake up, knowing your cognition and sight are both impaired at this particular time.

One time, near Halloween, he put on a Grim Reaper mask and waited on your side of the bed until you woke up.

He made no noise, he didn't jump on you; he simply waited.

And when you saw his skeletal outline, you initially thought it was Ghost. That alone made you near enough shit yourself and scream as if you were being murdered.

Aside from that, though, he can be very tender. When his judgement is clouded with sleep and the world doesn't yet feel real, that's when he's at his most vulnerable, and his most sincere.

He loves to pull you into his bare chest and just rest there, feeling your breath against his skin; a reminder that you're still here, still alive.

Despite being so young, it's during times like these that Gaz knows where he wants to be for the rest of his life, what he wants to do with it.

Part of me hates doing these mostly because it's a whole lotta nothing and me just repeating everything I said the last update (lol) but I do like doing it because I like keeping people updated, even if it's a non-update. I may sound like a broken record (pun not intended) but I know a lot of people don't catch my updates every time so it's nice to just keep people informed yk yk

✮ — Part 2 + rewrite

Fun fact: I had written an entire essay about my excitement for the rewrite and chapter 3 and beyond but it got too long!

It boiled down to me wondering why I'm so excited for this rewrite and realizing it's because I feel comfortable enough to approach it with complete creative freedom. I wrote the first iteration of the demo with the constant worries swimming in my head like "I hope people understand what I'm trying to say here" and "I hope this situation is being read the way I intended for it to be read." And I think I sort of had those thoughts tenfold while writing Part 2. If you paid attention, you can probably see where I was trying to shut down certain discussions in the narrative lmao

Recently I had a tiny epiphany and reminded myself that it's not always about what I intend to write, but what is being understood by each reader. And yes this is basic writing 101 but let me have this moment of clarity okay. Embracing that means I can proceed with Infamous without holding back and sticking to my guns in regards to what I want for this story aka I'm just going to write what I write and like....not worry about the rest you feel (while of course integrating the common critiques and suggestions and improving on the things Infamous falls short in—I am not Shakespeare lmao)

ANYWAY my point is that I'm excited to fix up the demo !!! and just go back to it with complete confidence in myself and write whatever the heck feels right to me (and write the rest of the story lolol) and return with a better story than I have now for everyone!!

planning what I'm going to improve and squeezing that in a reworked outline so it can flow much better narratively.

Outlining Chapter 3 and hopefully have the bare bones first draft drafted up which is mostly just be writing blocks of descriptions

I'm not sure I'll have anything substantial to justify looking for beta testers so soon yet but maybe!

work on my spice writing babey writing/reading spice makes me actually physically recoil but im determined to get better! which reminds me to finish the 6k follower gifts!

As a fan of the book Dracula and Dracula-adjacent media, I am very used to disappointment. I can still clap when the media is impressive while pretending the characters do not have the names they have. After enough trailers and interviews, I see Nosferatu 2024 is now sadly in that category, RIP to Thomas and Ellen Hutter, the un-Harkers set to get the Francis Ford Coppola treatment ala Robert Eggers. But if directors can play dolls and make the Mina/Ellen character do bloodstained kissy kissy with Dracula/Orlok, I can do this:

ACTUALLY SUBVERSIVE IDEAS I’D BE COOL WITH IN NOSFERATU (2024) FROM LEAST TO MOST COOL

Idea I’d Be Least Cool With, But Seems Eggers-shaped:

Ellen goes full Thomasin x Black Phillip, giving into the darkness~ ooh she loves her some Orlok, talk cadaverous to me babey~ And they make out bloody style and devour the puritanical human society because Eggers will pull a del Toro and make 99.99% of the human characters assholes not worth saving from the Horrors. Maybe Thomas and un-Van Helsing are left standing, maybe not. But it’s basically the Eggers MO of Monsters/Myths > Humans, however innocent or evil, extra dark ominous ending.

Idea I’d Be Somewhat Cooler With:

Ellen is 2 goth 4 U Thomas. But she’s also not oblivious to how Orlok is going to drink everyone. Which is bad. So she’ll 1) embrace her own dark inner lust and monstrosity~ while also 2) pulling a Bride of Frankenstein climax (We belong dead.) to see to it that she and Orlok are destroyed by sunrise. Not a ‘She was too pure for this sinful Earth!’ ending, but a ‘She was too gothique and eager to monsterfuck to hang around with you prudes. But fiiine she’ll destroy herself and her beloved Orlok to save you all or whatever. :/’ Which is slightly better than the scenario of un-Van Helsing and/or Thomas executing her and Orlok. So. Sure. Vampiric murder suicide, dying with her True Orlok Love (Orlove) uwu

Idea I’d Actually Be Pretty Cool With:

Eggers says he’s focusing on the sex/death drive and love story of Nosferatu (many asterisks here). If he has the guts for it, he’ll turn it on its expected heel and do the unthinkable—put a magnifying glass on Orlok getting very weird with Thomas. Who he drinks from first. And leaves imprisoned rather than outright killing him.

“But how do you explain him coming at Ellen’s invitation? What about the whole locket scene??”

Well, that’s where the bittersweet bit happens. Heavy on the bitter. Because if Eggers wants to really put his heel down on the horror part of vampirism and Dracula’s original MO, this would be the perfect point to do a bait and switch with Ellen herself. She wants Orlok? Wants him to ravish and drink her and make her one of his undead so they can be vampires together forever and ever?

“You want me. My touch, my gift. This I know. But the question remains,” cue that sharp little rat grin, “why would I ever want you?” Remember; the only one that explicitly craved what Dracula had to offer in the novel and in Nosferatu was the Renfield character. The one who saw the Count as a means to their end, who pined for him and what he could give. Bar the more sexual/amorous elements with Eggers-Ellen, she’s going after the same thing. This, when Classic Dracula is very much about preying on those who are terrified of and/or loathe him—he’s a conqueror, not a suitor. If you want it, he doesn’t want you. So it’s very possible that Ellen’s unwittingly set herself up for not only disappointment, but a potentially violent end.

“Sounds fucked up. But again, where’s the ‘love story’ bit? What’s up with him taking the locket?”

The locket that Thomas had. Of his wife, who he loves. Who he risked death and worse to crawl his way home to. Who, if he’s anything more like the novel Jonathan Harker he was based on, would become aware of Ellen’s condition/Orlokian preference and simply be heartbroken, yet still unable to turn against her. Ever.

Thomas Hutter’s heart belongs to Ellen, breaking or not. Thomas is also the one who Orlok clings to like his own shadow for the entire stay in the castle. The locket is taken not because it’s an image of Ellen <3, but because it’s an image of the competition/distraction for Orlok’s pet real estate agent who he is Very Normal about. And this is all supposing he doesn't just outright destroy the locket in a petty rage, per the vile thing-mirror scene.

The climax comes with Orlok about to off Ellen, only for Thomas to arrive and offer a trade. Him for her. Orlok takes the deal, latching happily onto Thomas and setting himself up for the sunrise trap. It would make sense. It would boot the old Reinforced Hetero rule of ‘he has to be drinking a pure maiden for it to work!!’ It would be genuinely subversive and tragic as a gothic love triangle, perhaps capped with un-Van Helsing arriving too late and finding Ellen grieving over the corpse of Thomas, Orlok having gone to burning dust as he fed.

Which could lean toward a special knife twist ending in itself:

Ellen mourns not just what was lost, but what she threw away, not realizing what she had in Thomas until he died for her. Tragique. ...Unless.

Ellen refuses to let un-Van Helsing ‘desecrate’ Thomas’ corpse with stake and saw. In fact, she kills him outright when he tries. Cut to the next evening, where Ellen sits patient and unblinking at Thomas’ bedside. The sun goes down. Cue some implying beat in which we realize that Ellen’s clocked that she’s been misinterpreting her prophetic dreams all this time. An epiphany that comes to fruition as we see her smile at some sudden change off-screen while facing Thomas’ cadaver on the bed.

The Embodiment of Death she was pining for was never Orlok, but Thomas. Rather, Thomas fully metamorphosed into Nosferatu.

“Come to me,” she whispers. “Hear my call…”

Thomas hears. A claw-tipped hand raises up to hers. The wedding ring on it gleams.

General:

Each of Xiangliu’s snakes are somewhat sentient and he talks to them regularly

I also headcannon that he actually has a snake tail (similar to Nüwa) but uses a glamour to give himself legs so he could be more discreet.

Because he’s been reliving the cycle’s end for who knows how long, the concepts of time, space, and even death no longer have meaning to him

That’s why he was so casual about MK sacrificing himself. He figured MK would most likely reincarnate so he didn’t really see too much of an issue.

I headcannon He woke up MK early not just to trigger the cycle’s end but because he wanted MK to experience the beauty of life before he sacrificed himself

While the concept of death has no meaning to him, Xiangliu still finds mortal life to be quite beautiful and endearing

I headcannon the only way to access the chaos realm he discovered is to basically go through the pillar of heaven.

In other words, the only way to get there without any kind of magic or something would be to straight up die.

That’s why everyone called Xiangliu a monster. No one wanted to die just to see some chaos realm that may not even exist!

Adding to this, I headcannon that Xiangliu may have lost a loved one and in an attempt to visit the underworld to revive them, he stumbled across the chaos realm by accident.

I headcannon it may have been his wife as he referred to himself as “The Prince Consort of Jisa”

I headcannon that Xiangliu hated being restrained by the rules and regulations of the current realm. Hence why he was so enamored with the Chaos Realm he found.

Despite the absolute insanity of his plan, Xiangliu was never evil to begin with.

He simply wanted to free others from the rules and expectations of their current realm. But has little to no understanding of the importance of balancing chaos with order

He believes that a world of pure chaos is the only right way to live.

Much like LBD, Xiangliu too thinks in absolutes

I headcannon that he’s very set in his ways and will try to convince others to join his cause. Of course since he was rejected, he grew tired and snapped.

Some speculate he has a crush on her (which I also agree with) bc the main character of his story and her lover are lowkey hinted at to be him and her (her name has been scribbled out in his script and replaced with his oc's name, and her bf in the story is apparently as handsome as an f22 jet and can travel at mach 10)) but he's very sweet to her and helpful even tho she's lowkey kinda rude to him ahehwhwv she was the one to gift him his dog tho. She reads his scripts even tho she dreads it and he said he'd only work with that military group if they offered marissa a job. They also go on vacation alot together. I had heard about Marissa before but I didn't know TOO much about her other than the fact that she was a bit abrasive, they were friends and coworkers, and she would read his work even if she wasn't super interested.

He seems so SWEET and like such a lovable DORK I really love that he's an aspiring writer and he's always showing off his work. That's confidence in your art, babey! FIC WRITERS RETREAT 2023

WE ARE BACK, BABEY!

For the first time since 2019, there will be a full-on FIC WRITERS RETREAT again in August of this year!!

August 10-13, to be exact. We've had a slight change of venue, so we'll be meeting in Oakville, Ontario this year. Final cost and registration process is still being finalized, but the ballpark is really similar to what it's been: roughly $450-$500 CANADIAN* that includes all meals from Thursday night to Sunday morning, 3 nights accommodation (private room in shared 2-person suite), and all conference expenses. You just have to get yourself there.

For those of you who don't know, this event started in 2016 where a whopping SEVEN (7) people got together in Barrie, Ontario for three days of writing, writing talk, fandom discourse, and general shenanigans. None of us knew each other, but this little handful of folks took a chance and started an amazing community that is still going strong. Subsequent years we had just on 20 participants on average, from all over. We survived a three year hiatus and are keen to get up and running again!

Every year we've met, we've had a great mix of familiar friends and new faces, and every new addition has been such a gift. Please feel free to scroll this blog and contact anyone who's come to the retreat before. If you like what you see, consider joining us this year!

Like, it's cool when it's mild whump followed by comfort but I draw a line at torturing him, that's a plain big No for me, my inner Sonic gets very angry and upset when Tails is continuously physically and mentally tortured.

I also love it when he's written to show fox traits and when it's clear who raised him, Tails getting reckless and impatient and quipping at his enemies etc.. Disclaimer: every piece of fanfiction is a gift from an angel. I love it all, because no matter how cringe or silly it is, the alternative is that fic NOT existing and that is unacceptable to me. That goes for any art.

Okay salty little hater time: Who the fuck started saying "greenette" or "pinkette" to stand in as an indicator for a person with a certain hair color. It is the new "orbs" in fanfiction. I literally have backed out of a fic, walked around a bit, and then gone back in resigned. It's so funny and I actually think of it really fondly, because it's a symptom of fandom the same was all the old fic tropes back in the early 2000's were. But god it even hurt me to write out. Weird formatting and paragraphs breaks I can adjust to pretty easily.

The style fits in with the other art/fics perfectly while still having that special little background/detail flair that Kayson likes to use. Fantastic. ('Strength' for LSoW Yoshi was an inspired pick as well. Love it.)

My username was 'spectralsleuth' for a while because I had thoughts of making a webcomic series about a detective who is dead, and was brain rotted by Homestuck naming conventions. (Which in itself was a satire of early 2000's internet culture, only dramatized.) That never happened, but the name stuck for all my accounts because I'm too lazy to think of a new one.

'audioEidolon' was what I started with on discord forever ago, and I wasn't ever planning to talk to anyone on voice chat because I was shy. (Thus the 'audio eidolon' name.) But I made some really good friends playing DnD and we talk almost every day, and have done for almost seven years now. So I guess my internet nickname will forever be 'Audio' or 'Audi'.

I love comments that pull out a line they specifically liked, or struck them. Maybe it's selfish, but I like seeing the specific things they liked because THAT'S the kind of comment that you think about while writing and forever after. (Despite how nice and easy as generalized comments are. I love all comments!) I even prefer comments that pull a specific line to say they didn't understand it, or noticed it was a little weird or out of place over generic ones, because it shows that they're invested and actually internalizing the writing. In this day and age of bots and AI, it's nice.

MAN THIS IS A TOUGH ONE. Every time I think, wow I wish that fic existed, I generally write it myself! I really can't think of anything I've wanted that I haven't at least started to write myself.

Oh man I don't know if I even HAVE an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character? My 2003 Leonardo opinions are surprisingly rare I think, he's one of my favorite TMNT characters of all time, and I think he and ROTTMNT Leonardo actually have the MOST in common between their counterparts. I never understood those crossovers where Leo and Leonardo were so bewildered by each other.

also also, do their colors have significance to their personalities/names/etc? as someone who also has a set of color coded ocs i always love to see how folks decide what colors to put with each character :3

Olivia is a fascinating facet of the Stardust Scouts story because in zer earliest iterations ze was NOT such a major character like ze is now!!

Ze used to be this minor character in a scrapped arc about the Scouts going to Mars in order to confront an opposing, alien group of martian magical girls and get them to join their side in protecting the galaxy instead of trying to fight them on their home turf. This arc doesn't exist anymore, I think the opposing alien force is further away from Earth than that & are sending basically drone/scout enemies to Earth to try to conquer/destory it.

These were the original martians' designs! They have music associated with each of them because the main 4 Stardust Scouts were originally designed based on a "randomize your playlist and design a character based on the first 3 songs" prompt, so I figured the rival magic girl team should be inspired in the same way.

The conceit of the martian arc was that our MCs the Earth scouts would've used their magic to blend in with the martians w/disguises. Inversely, once the martians were on their side they would come visit Earth and wear their own disguises as well.

Can you guess which of these martians eventually became Olivia as we know zer? I will give you a hint

It's the one who's the obvious TAK from INVADER ZIM EXPY! YAAAY <3

Zer original role was the skeptic martian cleric/priest of the martian scouts, who was the most distrusting of the earth scouts having any good intentions, and I believe might've also had a toxic yuri thing going on with either the pink or blue martian.

All the other martians here never got developed much because Olivia, as the Tak Expy, meant ze had a lot of my favorite character design tropes going on and I wanted to specifically explore those more and ze became the obvious favorite haha. After that Zer role just kept increasing over time.

I think the most major development though was definitely when I decided ze could keep the toxic yuri energy originally planned for zer, but with One Of the Main Scouts instead... Tabitha and Olivia have HISTORY BABEY!!!!

(Fun Fact: My files say this was drawn Oct 2019, soooo... 1 month after the Steven Universe Movie came out. Spinel got her fingerprints all over this damn character, for real, she's one of my voice claims for zer)

This was the point where I decided Olivia was not an alien anymore, but a human who had been abducted BY aliens back when ze was a teenager and best friends with Tabitha. The both of them were private school goody two shoes with parents who put way too many expectations on them to get perfect grades. They would start breaking the rules a little bit by going out at night in the car Olivia got as a gift for good grades + passing zer drivers exam (important to note, Olivia used to go by she/her bc ze picked up new, alien genders while out in space)

The two sneaking out once in a while turned into most nights which culminated in the both of them being out in the woods when one of the Inciting Incident meteors with the Scouts' special magic maguffin rocks crashed nearby. Olivia was bolder than Tabitha at the time so ze investigated and got both magical girl powers and abducted by the enemy aliens who had been chasing the meteor at the same time. Tabitha was left absolutely shaken up and in the middle of a missing persons case where she couldn't tell anyone the truth of the matter bc it sounded absolutely batshit nuts.

This is information I give freely bc I don't really think it's worth hiding, but I know in the actual telling of The Story, The Stardust Scouts, this would all be information that was slowly handed out during the actual plot where Olivia initially serves as a disguised, alien general of the grunt forces being sent out to Earth. Ze's like, a hammy villain of the week that likes fucking with the Scouts because it's funny and ze Doesn't Respect Them.

Olivia doesn't recognize Tabitha at first bc he's changed so much over the years, transed her gender, stopped caring about things like school and grades. Tabitha also doesn't recognize Olivia bc ze is dressed in a full body suit, also transed zer gender, and Tabitha never thought he'd even see zer again. Spicy drama!!

Look at those dramatic fuckers... having feelings about rivalry and lost friendship and abandonment issues!! I should redraw the fake anime screenshot/do more of those sometime, those are always fun.

Also! This is an old design, but Olivia's main power when an antagonist is that ze can copy the powers of the other scouts and counter their attacks, meaning in the moments when the gang can fight zer one on one ze has the upper hand and can get away every time. I imagine then, that Olivia's main color scheme is very steely and grey when NOT using this copy cat ability, and ze doesn't have a sense of identiy beyond what ze can do for the aliens ze considers zer superiors.

Also! Also. Zer a jester/joker, since ze doesn't "fit" into the group's dynamic of being based on playing card suits.

EVENTUALLY, eventually, through a lot of monster of the week encounters, plot progression, and secrets revealed, Olivia's original identity would be uncovered and the team would convince zer to defect from zer alien captors, making zer a top level wanted deserter in the eyes of the big bad alien group (which I could talk abt another time).

Then Olivia gains a color of zer own, orange! Because the gang was always (in fiction) meant to be a team of 5, like the 5 points of a star! And colors of the rainbow/light spectrum, red orange green blue purple (yellow acts as a unifying accent color!).

To answer your question about the color meanings, I mostly assigned them originally based on vibes without too much through about specific symbolism. Plus I just like having characters all get one specific color, makes giving them outfits more enjoyable and fun for me. Like, you can see up above that Olivia (being Tak and all) originally had purple as zer main color. It took me a while to change that after I decided Savannah got purple instead, bc I was attached to how it looked. But orange felt like a good logical landing place. It's vibrant and fun and a little off the beaten path, again based on vibes.

Olivia starts off the story living among humans ""in disguise"" while plotting evil bad bitch things, and then after defecting ze just starts crashing at everyone's places while learning to really return to humanity in zer own way and hopefully make amends with the scouts for maybe sort of taking delight in fucking with them. Lol. Zer demeanor stays irreverent and annoying and punk throughout, even after zer turn to good/becoming the 5th ranger of the group, which makes zer a really fun character to think about and write.

so, as i mentioned to you and as you saw, i DO touch on this a bit in his birthday fic today :’) but i am sooo happy to elaborate on all the utter sadness of it all :)

adam’s mother died in march when he was nine. that august, when he turned ten, i think everyone TRIED to celebrate him in little ways. lumi & plum still attempted to get him a gift, mrs potts still made him his favorite treat (macarons), and even cogsworth and cuisinier tried to coordinate a special dinner with all adam’s favorite foods… but adam really wasn’t himself. life had just been hell for him since her passing. he’d been struggling with nightmares, struggling to eat, struggling to be a person. he wasn’t even ten years old yet and he already felt so cast adrift.

i don’t think his father ever cared about adam’s birthday or even remembered. he’d be going over scheduling with his secretary and he’d be like “there’s nothing going on the week of the 26th, i’ll go then.” and the secretary would say “well. that’s the prince’s birthday…” and louis was just like “and? he’ll still age whether i’m here or not. and hopefully he’ll be more of a man by the time i return.” so that’s nice.

adam entirely just stopped caring about his birthday though. like at first he’d still appreciate the servants’ attention. but his father got stricter about them interacting with him and he equally started getting brainwashed into mistreating them too.

also oh man. okay so this is BAD. there WAS a birthday that louis DID do something for him. and uhhhhhhhhh. Bad. bad bad bad. i’ll try to say it quickly and simply.

for adam’s 13th birthday louis hired a prostitute to uhm. make him a man. she was twice his age.

FUCK. after that, adam just suuuuuppperrr did not give a shit about his birthday. like genuinely despite how self-centered and arrogant he grew up to be, he literally did not make a big deal about his birthday. everyone else did though! his “friends” would always throw INSANE parties for him, and he’d go of course (if only to intoxicate the absolute hell out of himself and forget about everything) but he never ever told anyone that it was his birthday, and he always told people to shut the fuck up if they tried to sing or cheer for him in any way. and it DID confuse his people because they KNEW how much he loved attention. it just couldn’t be birthday-themed attention :/

okay sorry backtracking just a tad:

his fourteenth birthday he actually did slightly enjoy. it was his first birthday with “friends” from university. other shitty little delinquents, of course. and they STILL bullied adam. he was always the butt of the jokes in the group. he was the awkward loser boy that they kept around because he was the prince and was actually fun once you got some alcohol into him. so they celebrated his 14th birthday right when he got back to school after the summer, and, at the time, adam felt like he was actually accepted by people. (even if it was truly all a façade.)

his sixteenth birthday happened like a month after his father died. so obviously nothing happened on that day. pretty much everyone forgot because they were dealing with funeral plans and lowkey freaking out about the idea of adam inheriting the throne. the day came and went without any fanfare regarding it, and he wasn’t mad about it at all. (deeply depressed about it. but ya know.)

anyway yeah so he became an older teen, a young adult, and each year was the same shit. more parties and debauchery and exuberance. he hated his birthday but there was always a party and he was always the most wasted at it. i definitely think, on some birthdays, when he was all drunk and depressed, he’d sometimes escape the party to just be alone. wander to the portraits hall and throw glass at his father’s portrait. stand under his mother’s portrait and feel like shit. feel like he’d let her down. feel ashamed to be her son. drink more drink more drink more. things were bad :(

BUT ALRIGHT SO heyyyyyyyy let’s turn this around. end on a positive note? yeah? PLEASE?🥲 his favorite birthday from childhood was maybe his fifth. that was the year his mother gifted him his first horse, etienne. adam actually got to SEE this horse’s birth (which is a very precious fic of mine !! ) before he turned 5, but then i think on his birthday the precious foal officially became his. the queen asked her son what he wanted to name him, and adam wasn’t sure, but he loved the white diamond-shaped spot on his forehead, (he’s like dark grey otherwise) so she suggested the name etienne because it means crown :”) adam couldn’t ride him for a few years, of course, but he LOVED going to the stables with his mother to visit him and brush his hair and feed him carrots and watch him run around around with his mama 😭😭 (i also !!!!!! have another fic set when adam is ? i wanna say 12? but etienne is in it for a little bit, just to highlight their bond 🥺 ) anyway yeah adam loves that horse. i think all the horses got turned into statues during the curse and adam didn’t even realize how much he missed him until he saw him like that :(( he had definitely been neglecting him in recent years but ya know how it goes. he was definitely happy to start going on rides with him and belle with philippe 🥹🥹🥹🥹

enterr Sploo from Petalburg city! :D he/they. our trainer starts out in petalburg city of hoenn where his pokemon adventure begins! since the professor’s lab is just a few town away it doesn’t take much for them to get his hands on his starter pokemon treecko! the babey boy ;; he catches lotsa pokemon to fill out the dex, sometimes keeping them on his team, and other times letting them go. he doesn’t like having the pokemon all crammed in the pc boxes :( some pokemon stay for a few battles and others maybe a few days, but things change after defeating his first gym. he meets an electrike at route 110 under the seaside cycling road, she’s just a lil puppyyy a lil babeeeyyy ;;;; super fun playful lil guys sticks around the team! -w- after his fourth gym badge his parents give him a gift pokemon for making it halfway through the gym challenge! a klefki! :3 a tame n helpful lil guys who just enjoys holding keys -w- sploo then continues on to complete two more gyms before his family moves to alola.

now on the boat to alola with grovyle, manectric and klefki sploo kinda just stays by the side of the boat watching the waves go by -w- also trying not to get too seasick shjkdfgl a lone shiny fletchling perches by them and he tries real hard to keep the excitement in and offers the fletchling some sunflower seeds! and asks if the fletchling would like the join their team! i mean who wouldn’t wanna pass up the opportunity of having a shiny pokemon on their team? after docking at akala island sploo travels around and catches some more pokemon to register to the dex, releasing them after as usual. then upon exploring diglett’s tunnel he finds a cover fossil! after cleaning up the rocks and dirt off the fossil spectrobes origins wii style he brings it to the fossil restoration center just along the route and meets the fifth member of his team :] and finally the sixth member of the team! a jangmo-o found in poni canyon, sploo came across the jangmo-o with its head scale stuck in the branches of a fallen tree. he freed the jangmo-o and excpected it to run back to its herd but it kept challenging them for a battle. after a long fight the jangmo-o is worn out, and sploo helps it back up on its feet with some potions and a plate of oran berries. sploo sets up a little picnic in the canyon! :3 helping nurse the jangmo-o back to health -w- the lil dragon sneaks into sploo’s bag and brings out a pokeball in its maw, determination in its eyes. and that’s how the team get together! :D but if u think i am done u are soo wrong sjhkjdfgd now i’m gonna go more in depth with each team member >:]

let’s start with mister! the sceptile -w- he is a grass/dragon type even without the mega evolution bc we were robbed and it’s not fair that swampert and blaziken get double typings while sceptile stays just grass >:[ chill and laid back, my baby boy ;; starter pokemon! he has a sceptilite in the friendship bracelet sploo made for him! :3 when walking through forests and jungles and very tree dense areas he’s always out of his pokeball darting around through the trees while sploo walks through -w- sometimes sploo stops for a lil break so sceptile can take care of sick trees in the forets! when having picnics out in the wild he can be found sitting and photosynthesizing when not playing around the trees. and since sceptiles are cold blooded mister stays in his pokeball when travelling through colder icy areas and he also enjoys having flynt resting atop his head or nesting in his tail leaves -w-

next up is storm! the manectric! a playful steadfast and loyal companion -w- she likes being out of her pokeball a lot and walks with sploo through towns n stuff. she has the manectite embeded in her collar :3 and also sploo charges his phone, pokedex and pokenav+ by just stuffing the charger cable in her mane jshkdfg sploo keeps a pair of sturdy rubber gloves in his bag bc of her :P

steele! the klefki. a very mild mannered pokemon -w- the one who’s always out of its pokeball! other than holding sploo’s house keys it also holds his multitools! since they’re also made of metal and has more mass than keys it has more metal ions for klefki to feed on -w- sometimes sploo will punch holes in bottlecaps of drinks so steele can have more metal to feed on and to enhance its threatening jingle :] steele enjoys playing around with flynt a lot! flynt n steele ;-; they fly around a lot but don’t stray too far from sploo -w- steele does not participate in battles unless it’s to use fairy lock on a wild pokemon that sploo wants to catch

then there’s flynt! :D my shiny!!! >< flynt perches on sploo’s shoulder when travelling through frigid area to keep him warm ;-; also flynt uses fly to deliver handwritten letters to sploo’s friends! :D it lets flynt fly free and enjoy the wind when the pokeball starts feeling cramped -w- flynt finds an everstone as a fletchinder and starts sitting on it like an egg and gets really attached (like that eagle that’s sitting on a rock jshkdfg) so she just holds the everstone now :P

koopa! the tirtouga -w- a bit hard headed, koopa needs a while to warm up to new trainers. he was a bit hard headed to train but after a while things went more smoothly :] koopa loooves the beachside! :D he knows dive and surff and helps sploo travel through water terrain! it’s a lot like how koopa shells worked in super mario galaxy where you hold on to a shell and it propels you through the water :3 stays in his pokeball most of the time unless it’s by the beachside or lake or any body of water

and last but not least rookie! the jangmo-o, a trusty and honorable battler! >:D much like ash's riolu from pokemon journeys! it takes a bit for the rookie to get used to the feeling of the chip in his head scale. but sooner or later rookie gets the hang of it -w- rookie loves getting to battle, but since sploo is a casual trainer and more focused on completing the dex and dragon types need more battling than usual to evolve dragon types rookie just stays as a jangmo-o :c not that he minds but yeagh

mister, storm, and rookie are the ones usually out for battles, flynt and koopa sometimes come out for battle too either when they get the urge or when they’re needed for certain type matchups! okay thank you for reading about my silly little guys they mean a lot to me and means a lot that you’d wanna read about them ;-;

Louis: He's always got his eye on you now, even when you're standing directly next to him.

His people watching appears to have taken a backseat, because he now has something much more interesting to watch.

The only downside to this is that it can, at times, make you wildly embarrassed. Knowing that he's glancing over at you in every meeting, that he's watching every bite of food you take or staring fondly at you while you're asleep... It was certainly an adjustment.

But there is a lot of good that comes of his newfound observancy. He can tell when you're more tired than usual, shouldering your workload so there's less to do.

He knows what are the best presents to get you for whatever occasion is necessary. He's there when you need medical attention after a battle, but you don't want to bother the clerics.

If you're sore, he's drawn a bath. If you're too busy to eat, he's prepared a meal for you.

Louis' devotion is second to none. It seems like common sense to him, as if it's what any good partner would do. So when you reciprocate his kindness with gifts and gestures of your own, he's practically beside himself. What's he supposed to do with all this affection, if not return it a thousand fold?!

His favorite gift is when the two of you spend time in the valleys, watching your slender fingers carefully weave the wild flowers into a delicate crown.

It is placed on his head shortly after, accompanied by blushes and sheepish smiles.

Zelkov: It would be a lie to say that speaking openly and plainly didn't feel...strange, at first.

But now that you were married, there was nothing to hide, and nothing to pretend to care about more than necessary.

He knows you are his whole world, and it makes him so happy, it's impossible to feel otherwise when he's around you.

That man devotes his world to the Divine Dragon. He can't imagine a life without you anymore, and there are nights where he has terrible dreams that force him to confront that possibility.

Those nights that he wakes in a cold sweat, the thought of the one person to whom he has entrusted his heart, he is quickly comforted when your arms wrap around him, drawing him into your embrace.

"It's all right." You whisper in his ear, stroking his hair as calloused hands press into your skin. "I'm here."

The next day is always a little more delicate in the mornings, and Zelkov finds himself being pampered by his spouse with a warm bath in the dawn light, and promises of spending the day doing whatever he'd like (if there wasn't more pressing matters that would force the two of you to leave your love bubble).

On the days you could spend off together, you would go into town to find new books to read over, or crafting supplies to test out a new hobby for Zelkov.

Usually said crafting supplies would turn into an embroidered scarf or tunic for his beloved one, as a gift in return for your kindness.

He's quite the gift giver...and usually leaves them for you in boxes that require a key or two to open. Keys that Zelkov typically has, and are only obtained by paying a price.

Said price is a kiss. Sometimes two.
