I didn't know about that discussion (and I play an alcoholic); however, thinking about it, I can see why people might not have realized- despite previous mentions- that the pc would be drinking. Every other time in the story that everyone else is going to drink, you have always provided an option to abstain. I've learned from reading LOTS of interactive fiction, you have to rely on previously established patterns of that particular fiction in order to make decisions. Setting the expectations.

That's understandable! You're right that I think the mix up was that the choice to drink was paired with the choice to party, which is usually separate in previous instances. With that said, I still feel like I was pretty clear that MC will be drinking.

(The choice changes whether MC is a drinker or not.)

But I see where the confusion lies. It's alright! I just feel like, in some cases, the responsibility doesn't only fall on the author. At some point readers need to understand what's in front of them. I can only do so much with my intentions haha

Shit happens, wires get crossed. It's just one of those things that's bound to happen in a choice-based story. I'll see what I can do next update!

Hi! There's a discussion going on on Reddit rn about this game, relating to the topic of MC having the choice to stay sober taken away from them at certain points.

Personally, I play as a cringefail drinkaholic so I haven't encountered this issue. But I was wondering if you had any thoughts/could clear things up on the topic because people are claiming their immersion is being ruined because their sober MCs are drinking against their wishes

Hi. I’ll probably add a choice but in the story it was explicitly stated about 3 times before making the choice that MC will get drunk. The choice wasn’t “do I get drunk at this party or not” the choice was “do I work or go to the party to get drunk.” I knew there wasn’t a choice to drink or not which was why I tried making it clear that MC will be drinking at the party mostly because that was the point I wanted for that scene.

I know some people want to hang with Triple/the cast without drinking so I’ll just change it next update.

just read the O POV and it was so delicious 🫣 love how whipped they already are for MC even if they won’t admit it.

genuinely can’t fathom that people used to complain about MC being an ugly loser who nobody likes romantically when they were only like 2 chapters into a 20 something chapter IF. like if they’d just been a little more patient they’d see that MC is truly THE baddest bitch around. we are only on chapter 4 now and it already feels like most of the main ROs have started catching feelings for MC. i’ve been playing the chaotic route of flirting with every single RO and by the end of ch 4 it felt like every person on the planet wanted that MC cookie.

and yes there's a weird trend of people wanting me to lay everything out on the table by the prologue which is odd but you know how it is haha

do you have any flashbacks planned for patreon in the forseeable future?

Yes, I do! There’s a few I wanted to do with other characters but flashbacks limit me since MC won’t be a character so I hold back on that but yes, I do have some planned.  I’m working on an off-page scene rn and that’ll be next :) 

now that I’m on the topic, I’m aware that I have to finish the specials for the sub ROs. Chapter 4 took most of my time and since those are long I ended up putting them off but I’ll pick them up once free time opens up.

Based on what you have planned what do you think your favorite stop is going to be?

California or Vegas but more so California. I just love endings lol. It's not that I want to see Infamous over but it would be nice to step back and see it as a fully realized piece of work. Since this is my first IF I've never experienced that before.

Chapter 5's stop is a really interesting one story-wise! Chapter 5, to me, is a chapter that expands the scope of the story. I'm excited for Florida because I live here lmao

what are some of the POV requests for chapter four that you're receiving? I'd bet that talking to Seven/Blake about the song they're writing is up there. any you're excited for? :)

Yes, you’re right! + The pool scene is mentioned a lot. I want to write POVs of Blake/7 working on their respective songs but I have to save that until after Chapter 5.
