An Oklahoma Republican legislator introduced legislation aimed at furries in schools. It's even dumber than that sounds.
An Oklahoma Republican lawmaker, state Rep. Justin Humphrey, has introduced a controversial bill seemingly targeting students who identify as furries in schools. This development comes as thousands of bills are being filed before the 2024 Oklahoma legislative sessions, many of which are unlikely to become law. House Bill 3084 prohibits students who claim to be imaginary animals or engage in anthropomorphic behavior commonly associated with the furry subculture from participating in school activities, The Oklahoman reports. Under the proposed legislation, parents or guardians must pick up these students from school. In an unprecedented move, if parents cannot do so, the bill mandates that animal control services should be contacted to remove the student. Humphrey's proposal aligns with a broader conservative narrative that has seen similar unfounded claims being made nationwide. These claims have been widely debunked, often involving myths about schools accommodating students who identify as animals. Despite this, conservative politicians, including Humphrey, continue to push this narrative. In Oklahoma, the myth of schools providing litter boxes for students identifying as animals, though thoroughly disproven, has found traction in political discourse. Humphrey's history of sponsoring contentious bills is well-documented. Notably, in 2017, he introduced a bill that sought to give men a say in abortion decisions, calling women "hosts." He has also attempted to lessen penalties for cockfighting in the state.
If I were a Democrat in the Oklahoma legislature (there are a few!) I'd introduce legislation forbidding boneheads from holding elective office in the state. Not only would Justin Humphrey's seat be instantly declared vacant, but Republicans would lose control of the state overnight.
The bizarre cat litter conspiracy theory has its origins with something the NRA-infested GOP doesn't like to discuss – school shootings.
In an October 2022 investigation of more than 20 conservative lawmakers making claims about litter boxes in schools, NBC News reported, "There is no evidence that any school has deployed litter boxes for students to use because they identify as cats." The report found one instance of a bucket, which was for emergencies. The bucket did contain cat litter for students to use in case of a situation like a school shooting. Those also contained first-aid kits and candy for diabetics.
Justin Humphrey is yet another reason we need to pay A LOT more attention to who sits in our state legislatures.
Check to see who represents you at your state capital. If they are MAGA Republicans, contact your county or state Democratic Party to find out how to help elect Dems to replace them.

Threats
Sometimes it can be very frustrating to live in a place so heavily populated with conservatives. Most everyone I run into plans on voting for Donald Trump because they believe he was sent by God to save them. He is what's best for our country, and it doesn't matter what he says or does, nothing is going to shift their belief in him.
I know a lot of these people have no idea what Trump really says. I know most of them have no idea what the results of his hatred for immigrants, the media, or liberals will really be. Mostly because they don't believe what he will do is really that extreme, and also because most of them really can't be bothered to actually do a bit of thought or research to understand the threat. Nope, they are die hard republicans and voting any other way is voting for the devil and the destruction of the country.
The thing is, I know a lot of these people aren't stupid. And though they say that they aren't hateful or racist people, it sure seems hard to believe them when you watch how they respond when they are told about how Trump wants to send troops into American cities on day 1 to root out every single immigrant and deport them. It's as if they can't put it together that if we suddenly remove a few million people from our economic system that we are going to have massive upheaval. No, these people aren't all collecting government checks that are so large they live better than you. These same people aren't taking your job. They are doing construction jobs, agriculture jobs, and meat packing jobs that a lot of Americans will not do. Many of them are paying taxes.
Don't get me wrong, there needs to be a better system in place to root out the criminals that sometimes slip through the cracks. There also needs to be a way for these people who are dedicating their lives to getting better and working hard to become citizens. We all know that suddenly deporting millions of people is going to adversely effect our economy. Adding in tariffs will significantly increase the costs of everyday items and cause a massive recession or depression. Tariffs have a place and a point, but Trump doesn't know what it is, and that's why he had to pay trillions of dollars to farmers and agriculture companies just to keep them afloat after he started his trade war.
But, this isn't about economics. As bad as Trump is on economic issues, you will never hear a bad word about it in the right-wing media sphere which is where the vast majority of these upper lower class yahoo's get their information from.
No, what I'm really getting to is that Trump, and by extension the Heritage Foundation, is planning to use every tool at their disposal to completely upend our society in every way imaginable. For people who seem constantly obsessed with conspiracy theories about democrats murdering newborn children, children using cat litter boxes in schools, or the government pushing vaccines on people to track their every movement, they don't want to consider the possibilities of giving a man who is deemed to be untrusty by every reasonable measure the tools to do whatever he wants.
You say you love your freedom. You say you want your guns, your free speech, your religious freedoms, and every other thing you know you are entitled to by our constitution. Yet, you can't understand that a man willing to send the police and military through the streets to root out undesirables isn't going to suddenly decide one day that even your freedoms are too much. You shouldn't have your guns because some idiots tried to assassinate me. You shouldn't have any right to protest because you don't like what I did. Maybe I will send the police and military into your town to round you up next and stick you in concentration camps.
I know you believe that will never happen. Oh, my representative wouldn't allow that. Yes they would. They are all cowards who have repeatedly bowed down to let Trump say and do whatever he wants. Are they suddenly going to grow a spine and try to say no just because your lily white ass is now on the line? Hell no, they won't because like every coward they are far more worried about their own lily white ass.
Trump and all of his enablers are a threat to the very foundation of this nation, and I am so sorry that none of you are able to see it. I still believe there are enough people of good moral judgement and conscience that Trump is going to lose this election. I can't guarantee that though. There are people in place to gum up the works and there are others who plan to not certify the vote if Trump loses. I don't expect Trump to walk away if he gets blown out, and I don't expect the right wing bubble to do anything but try and say how everything was stolen from them. They have also proven over and over that they are willing to say anything to get their way.
My faith in my fellow countrymen is waning. I want to believe you are good and honest people. I want to believe you are who you say you are. But I see your actions. I hear your words. You aren't the Christians you think you are. You aren't the good people in this story. I don't want to blame you. I know you are being lied to. I know you are struggling and doing your best just to get by most of the time. I also know that you are being poisoned and brainwashed on a daily basis when you listen to anyone talk about how awful our country is. There are problems, just like there has always been, but we are nowhere near as bad as we have been in other times.
Our whole way of life is on the line. I hate to say this because most everyone is tired of hearing how "important" this election is. But, it's true. A man who is given absolute immunity to do whatever he thinks he should for the good of the country isn't going to stop at "illegal" immigrants. Next they will come for the trans people. Then the gays. Then the "left wing media". Then anyone who doesn't support him and his every lie.
Sooner or later they will get around to you and your friends. Someone like this can't stop no matter how far they go. There will always be a new enemy. You have the chance now to stop this madness before we walk down the same road as Germany, China, Rwanda, and so many other nations. Can you, as a concerned citizen do the right thing? Will you? I guess I'll get my answer in a few weeks.

This Mom Debunks “Gender Theory” in 3 Minutes
Is it Time to expose every Teacher pushing Gender Identity, even putting in Litter Boxes for Kids who Think They are a Cat or Dog? This is NOT a conspiracy theory; it is REAL!!!! A Friend took a job in Gainsville Florida Public School and has now quit and is taking her family out of this College LEFT-WING town because they did put in litter boxes for children who think they are “furries” and are insane for such a person will NEVER hold down a real job going through life as a furry. I guess they would end up in prison since animals don’t pay taxes, and I doubt the IRS will entertain that excuse. A judge would order such a person to be forcefully taken to a mental hospital without release until cured.
This was also what the election was all about.
Most Democrats Can’t Figure That Out Yet

Alex Bollinger at LGBTQ Nation:
Conservatives shared a video of students staging a walkout protest in Utah this week, with online commentators claiming that the students were protesting “the furries that bite them, bark at them, and pounce on them,” according to Chaya Raichik, who goes by “Libs of TikTok” online. Another conservative said that the students were particularly angry that “when a student retaliates, they are the one who gets suspended.”
But there’s no evidence of any of that happening. The conspiracy theory has its origin, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, with a misinterpretation of a message sent by the administration of Nebo School District. The message was sent after a bullying incident at a district middle school where one group of students said things “that were overheard by others that the administration felt were inappropriate and shouldn’t be said,” according to district spokesperson Seth Sorenson. One of those groups of students wore headbands “that may have ears on them,” but Sorenson said that the students don’t identify as furries. “These are pretty young kids,” he said. “You’ll have students that show up with headbands and giant bows; you’ll have students that show up dressed as their favorite basketball player, or baseball player. That’s just what kids this age do.”
[...] Some parents in the district apparently misinterpreted the message and started a Change.org petition with the title “Students for Humans at School, not animals aka furries,” demanding the school ban furry costumes, even though the message didn’t have anything to do with furries or furry costumes and the district said that students weren’t wearing furry costumes to school. The petition still got 600 signatures, and some parents pulled their children from school. Others encouraged their kids to protest, which led to the walkout.
Local far-right Utah State Board of Education candidate Cari Bartholomew’s husband, Adam Bartholomew – who hosts a conservative radio show – went to the protest and recorded students and parents talking about how other students wore animal and dinosaur masks to school. In the video, even though the students were talking about “masks,” Bartholomew asked questions about furry costumes and “dressing up like a furry.” Bartholomew asked them if their parents knew they had walked out, and they all shouted, “Yes.” “And I heard that they were putting litter boxes in the girls’ bathroom,” one student shouted in the video. The idea that schools are installing litterboxes in restrooms for student-furries has been a part of the rightwing mythos for years. Schools across the U.S. and Canada have had to respond to parents and local residents outraged about the litterboxes, despite there not being any evidence that any school has done this.
[...] Other conservatives added to the narrative, including Raichik, who wrote: “Students walked out of Nebo School District in Utah to protest the school for allowing ‘furries’ to t*rrorize other students. “Students claim that the furries bite them, bark at them, and pounce on them without repercussion. However, if they defend themselves in any way, they get in trouble.” Sorenson said that there is “no evidence” that any students are biting or barking at other students.
[...] Then, other conservatives condemned the school for allowing itself to be overrun by furries. Anti-transgender activist Riley Gaines, who tied for fifth place at a college swim meet with a transgender woman and made it her whole career, applauded the students who walked out.
[...] The urban legend of schools capitulating to furries and letting them defecate in litter boxes is an outgrowth of right-wing antipathy towards transgender students and often gets brought up in that context. The idea is to make respecting a transgender student’s identity appear ridiculous by claiming that it will lead to litterboxes in restrooms for students who identify as cats. The student-furries myth was a theme in the 2022 midterm elections, with several Republican politicians and candidates claiming that schools were allowing kids to use litterboxes. The myth was a favorite among the anti-trans right, who wanted to denigrate the idea that children could know their gender by comparing it to identifying as a non-human animal and defecating in front of others. Republican politicians and right-wing commentators have repeated the urban legend to gin up moral panic around trans and nonbinary kids and also to push efforts to ban students from using school bathrooms that match their gender identity. Schools in the U.S. and Canada were forced to send letters to parents explaining that kids aren’t allowed to use litter boxes in school, while others – including a few in Colorado that were specifically accused by the Republican gubernatorial candidate – had to defend themselves in the media to the accusation.
Right-wing anti-LGBTQ+ extremists such as Chaya Raichik continue to spread the debunked nonsensical litter box hoax, this time aimed at the Nebo School District in Utah.

For decades, scientists have warned us of the dire consequences of man's inexplicable war on nature: the oceans continue to warm; wildfires overstay their welcome even when you tell them you have work in the morning; and organic life slowly replaced by plastic doppelgangers.
But no study could have foreseen crocodiles spreading conspiracy theories across the internet.
Due to the increased presence of alcohol and fentanyl in the waters in which they live and in the people that they eat, the once fiercely independent crocodiles of Florida are now voting Republican, pistol whipping children at playgrounds, and posting videos to social media in which they claim President Biden is using the postal service to "trans" Americans with gay anthrax.
And while it may be easy to dismiss this as harmless fun by a species not only lacking opposable thumbs, but also the right to vote, researchers aren't convinced.
"As ancient apex predators, crocodiles know better than to attack with reckless abandon," said crocodologist Dr. Allison Gaydor. "They bide their time, luring in unsuspecting prey with talking points about personal liberties, free markets, and small government before striking with a flurry of clips from the Joe Rogan Experience."
And so far, this slower, methodical strategy by crocodiles is working where the "howling, rabid baboons flinging feces at everyone" strategy of modern right-wing grifters is failing. Watching just one video in which a crocodile debates the need for women and minority representation in film and television quickly results in algorithms suggesting similar videos on false flags operations by the PTA, schools providing students with litter boxes, and something about trees causing socialism.
"I can only hope the sea reclaims Florida before it's too late," said Dr. Gaydor.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has claimed without evidence that students are dressing up as cats and using litter boxes in classrooms. Texas state Rep. James Talarico (D) called out fellow state Rep. Stan Gerdes (R) for wasting government time with the F.U.R.R.I.E.S. Act, a bill that would ban students from using litter boxes in school — a far-right conspiracy theory that has been debunked. They're dressing up like racoons, not cats.

Texas State Rep Criticizes Furries Act Author

Mr. Shepherd: This legislation is not about care or concern for children. The truth is that, as I’ve just laid out, this government is making choices that harm Alberta children every single day. This bill is about a government cynically leveraging and choosing to amplify manufactured fear and misinformation for its own political gain. Perhaps a handful of individuals in the government caucus have actually fallen prey to that themselves. I mean, there are members in this government caucus, Madam Chair, who apparently believe and have helped to spread the repeatedly debunked conspiracy theory that there are schools putting litter boxes in their washrooms for students who identify as cats. That’s the Member for Lacombe-Ponoka.
That’s the true root of this legislation, Madam Chair. That’s the basis of the evidence that this government is legislating on, a government so desperate to distract from the real damage they’re doing, the ways that they’re actively hurting Alberta families. They’re willing to endanger the lives of vulnerable youth by creating laws based on conspiracy, misinformation, and fear.

if a youtube content creator takes a ground news sponsorship, I stop watching. simple as.
I dont need a "fair and balanced news comparison website" that tries to sell itself as centrist by putting actual news reports about the fucked up shit rightoids do on the same level as malicious conspiracy theories about school kids shitting in litter boxes or diversity hires causing boeing crashes.
I wish people would just take raid shadow legends sponsorships again. we didn't know how good we had it before.

Y'know, I wonder how much of the increase of political radicalization and the alt-right pipeline is as a result of everything you see on the internet now being personally tailored to appeal to you specifically by the algorithm. When even search engines like Google are now altering their search results based on what you are more likely to click on and make them more money, it's a lot easier to understand how far right fear mongering is so pervasive.
I mean, imagine that you've indicated to the algorithm that you are interested in right wing conspiracy shit, either because you looked something up about it or you follow someone on Facebook who shares that stuff or any other reason you may stumble upon that, and now the algorithm is aware that you're likely to click on things like that. So now Facebook and Twitter are putting nothing but scary sounding article titles about how schools are putting litter boxes in the bathrooms and trans people are grooming children, and YouTube is only recommending increasingly radical conspiracy theory videos, and the news articles that Windows is forcing on your desktop are all about individual instances of minorities commiting crimes. If that's literally all you're seeing, then it's easy to assume that's just what the world is like.
Then, when people bring up things like increasing numbers of hate crimes towards minorities, these people say "I haven't heard of anything like that happening, so you must be exaggerating" because the algorithm hasn't shown them those news stories, because it knows they're less interested in those stories, further reaffirming the idea that those things don't actually happen.
The Internet has made it so far right extremists are basically living in an entirely different world, where everyone is against them and they're fighting a lonely battle against a society that wants to destroy their livelihood. It's near impossible to break out of a cult like that when the entire Internet is designed in a way to keep them there, because showing opposing viewpoints and news stories that challenge their worldview doesn't make as much money.

you sound like the qanon conspiracy freaks who were convinced there were litter boxes in classrooms for kids to piss and shit in lol. was gonna try engaging in a meaningful dialogue with you but since you’ve got your head so far up your ass you’re interpreting genuine kindhearted asks trying to help you as vicious hate and bullying, im not even gonna bother. i just wanted you to know you sound like you ingested horse antiparasitic to treat covid. also ps who the fuck is anne? are you just making up a person to blame everything on bc you can’t admit that you showed your entire ass and multiple people have come to clown? okay anyway you’re too bitter to waste the rest of my high on so byeeeeeeee!!!!
I have not ever been involved with the QAnon movement. Have no fucks to give, never thought any of it was real. In fact, I think it was controlled opposition. I don't fit inside your tiny box, Anne.
I haven't received any genuine, kindhearted asks in a very long time.
If you thought you were being kind, you are absolutely delusional. I am not here to conform to your hot takes. Who do you think you are, what gives you the right to tell me how to live, what to think, what to feel? I'm not here to be your echo chamber.
Oh yes, the Rona.
You want to know what. I feel sorry for you. That "horse antiparasitic" has been prescribed to humans for decades. The only reason the Rona Vax was able to be pushed into production is because the doctors and the MSM and the government lied to you. If they were to admit that a drug, one that's worked for decades, could work in this instance as well, then they wouldn't have been legally allowed to use people like lab rats.
And guess what? Now the people who were gullible enough to take the jab are paying the price, and it's horrible. Turbo cancers. Blood Clots. Heart attacks. Strokes. Bell's Palsy. Sterilization. The list keeps growing and growing and y'all still think you weren't sold snake oil? Wake up!
There had never been a vax for the common cold and the one they have provided still doesn't prevent the disease from being contracted or from spreading. That's a bunch of science fiction, germ theory doesn't even hold water and hasn't done so for 100 years. They were trying to prove it during the Spanish Flu and failed.
I feel so sorry for everyone who is living through this dystopic nightmare, even moreso for those people who are still hypnotized and refuse to acknowledge what they allowed to happen to themselves.
Anne is short for anon.
Specifically hateful anons. It's a term that the Reylos coined because so many people were hating on them. It's been in Tumblr usage for years. It's got "Sure Jan" vibes. An Anne is almost always a Karen. Someone who irrationally expects to get their way and be thanked for their tantrum. And what y'all have most definitely been acting like today is Karens.
I haven't shown my ass, WTF is that even supposed to mean. I mean, do you want me to moon you like in Braveheart or something? It's not my thing but I could probably find you a clip.
No, I'm not surprised that the brainwashed clowns showed up, haters gotta hate after all. It's like you guys get off on making yourselves look as idiotic and small as possible. I've always been perplexed: why do you think it's okay to tell people that they're full of "hate" if they don't agree with your delusions. Why would it ever be okay to tell someone that they should kill themself? Be forced to put up with abuse? Be raped? Does it make you feel powerful??? Because you sound pathetic.
So good, go away, rethink your life, since drugs seem to make you act like a fool that can't be taken seriously.

Fox News hosts can’t quit pushing lie about student “furries” using cat litterboxes
Conservatives and other anti-trans trolls just can’t seem to let go of the thoroughly debunked litterbox conspiracy theory. Earlier this week, shock rocker Alice Cooper referenced the false claim that kids these days are identifying as cats, while on a recent episode of Fox News talk show Outnumbered, commentator Shannon Bream trotted out the right-wing falsehood that schools are installing litterboxes for kids to use. Bream joined the Outnumbered hosts to weigh in on a presentation by Dr. Diane Ehrensaft. Ehrensaft, the chief psychologist and director of mental health at the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) Benioff Children’s Hospital gender development center, used whimsical terms to describe the myriad ways in which children can understand their gender. --- Related Stories Schools all over are being forced to deal with parents angry about furries & litter boxes “It’s really frustrating,” one superintendent said after the health department investigated a school in his district for litter boxes. --- The show’s hosts pounced on Ehrensaft’s use of terms like “Gender Priuses” and “Gender Tootsie Roll Pops” as metaphors for describing gender expressions that don’t fit neatly into the male-female binary. Get the Daily Brief The news you care about, reported on by the people who care about you. Bream briefly conceded that most people want to have respectful “conversations and debates over LGBTQ+ issues,” before disingenuously claiming that Ehrensaft thinks kids can identify as actual Tootsie Pops. She went on to pull the old litterbox hoax out of the woodwork. “Where I live in the Washington area, I have a lot of Northern Virginia moms who have kids in school who have told me that there are schools who are now having to put litterboxes in for kids who identify as cats,” Bream said. “And I think most parents at home are like, ‘We’ve lost the story line here. Some legitimate conversations to have, but when you spin off this far, you are going to lose most Americans, and there will be backlash from people who think you have lost it.” In the last few years, anti-trans conservatives have pushed the urban myth that schools have begun recognizing furries — a subculture in which people dress up as anthropomorphic animal characters — as a gender identity and begun installing litterboxes for students who identify as furries to us. Republican politicians and right-wing commentators have repeated the hoax to gin up the moral panic around trans and nonbinary kids and also to push efforts to ban students from using school bathrooms that match their gender identity. But the myth has been thoroughly debunked. Last October, NBC News reported that none of the school districts that had been accused by Republican politicians in 2022 of installing litterboxes had actually done so. One Renison University College professor who studies furry culture noted that she has never once come across any evidence of actual furries using litterboxes. http://dlvr.it/Sv7tq7
