i have successfully made malanga fritters from In Stars and Time and God are they good bros

#in stars and time #food #i tried making them literally right after we discovered. what they Were. and that they were siffrin's favorite thing ever #and they were good! but not blows your mind kind of good. no heavenly smell. just normal smell #i tried a second attempt with giraumon (or rather. an acorn squash. close enough) and also onion and vinegar n spices #bc all the recipes i found were all Different and i wanted to figure out what to do personally #and that attempt was a horrific failure and it was right before my friend and i were streaming another episode and i was so sad #i realized that the addition of new ingredients introduced too much water and it was way too wet #even after draining a lot of the liquid it couldn't really be saved #also i think the oil was too hot. i nearly did the same thing here but i turned it down before they got too burnt #but yeah! i'll try at least one more time with the squash again but i wanted to get the flavors right #and the secret was Adobo Seasoning #i still am on the fence abt putting in vinegar cuz. having mayo as a dipping sauce really elevates it djdgdjd #it's creamy and has the vinegar acidic bite to it that this needs! and it's so good dude #i did make these ones pretty salty though. whoops dhdgdj they were undersalted last time and now it's too much lol

for the past couple years ive been slowly. slowly learning beginners japanese and its very fun and im enjoying it a lot but also it has made me painfully aware in ways i wasnt before of how much my specific vaguely ontario accent makes me make out sloppy style with my vowels. i am going at those vowel's tonsils. i am doing things to diphthongs you wouldnt even believe.

#come and meet the letter people. come and visit the familyyy #literally like i dont mind my ontario accent coming through my japanese thats okay BUT i do care about making sure im saying what #im actually trying to say. and sometimes without realizing my vowels have left off somewhere else in the middle of my word #turning it into some manner of other word. i accidentally said picasso bought the mona lisa instead of painted it the other day <3 #i dont mind my mistakes but like. i still wanna do my best!!!!#its blowing my mind though. okay as an anglophone here the only way we'll learn anything about our own language is by #1) just having a natural interest in linguistics in general and/or 2) learning a new language #much to my mothers frustration when she came here in the 70s not knowing any english. even the english speakers couldnt help her #BUT luckily i was both interested in linguistics and learning new languages so i got to learn more things after preschool LOL #but like i remember taking french throughout highschool and being like. wait a god damn minute. i understand english grammer now?#it was bizarre. learning japanese phonetics as well has made me realize what on earth i do with my vowels. actually the entire way i talk #i didnt pay much attention to it but in my head i hear everything as my voice but with perfect north american man radio voice pronunciation #which it turns out. is not what my actual voice sounds like. its not even thaaat different its just different Enough. uncanny valley accent #although the reason i specify vaguely with my vaguely ontarian accent is because #in my area half of the native english speakers say stuff one way and the other half a different way. like within the same neighbourhoods #people always giggle at the way i say bagel. in my head i do picture it as bey-gul. but the second it lease my mouth its become BAG-ul #no one in my familiar says it like that. i dont know where it came from. i cant even stop it. im forever BAG-ul. forever.

not to get political but i keep seeing clips from a usa presidental debate and holy sht u guys😭😭😭 what are you dooinngnggg that is literally insane to watch there is no way its actually like i wow i cant even form a sentence like. the debating is so… how on earth is it possible that people are voting trump? like genuinely, and i dont even know a lot about either party or candidate but just the fact that hes saying so many things that gets fact checked and proven wrong during one debate is crazy. how can anyone trust anything he says like he just proved that he’ll say anything no matter how stupid. multiple things during one debate. how did it ever get to the point where people become like that how do people see the debates and the speeches and whatnot and still somehow plan to vote trump. he just says things. how is he even allowed to run still??? ive never seen this man make a good point ever. actually i dont think ive ever seen him even just make a point. he just talks, mostly in the form of facial expressions and hand movements.

howwwwww is he gonna be president when he cant even have a debate? i wouldnt let him cut my grass if he paid me, with the way he’s showing lower ..ability to …think😭 he always seems like hes debating like he’s imitating a conversation except hes never ever heard one. the way he ‘debates’ sounds like if i would be drunkingly trying to convince someone that im black and theyre just blind. it doesnt make any sense. they fact check him and hes just straight up wrong, the whole thing seemed like a bad improv scene or an ironic idfk the simpsons episode about being gullible. it is insane to watch and i dont get how he gets away with it. you guys need to vote

#the thing is. you should believe survivors #also my ex after we broke up tried to go to half of our mutual friend and tell them horrifying stories of abuse he was dealing with #it wasn't even planned smearing campain (I don't think it's his style). he was truly hurt. some things really di happened. some even #happened the way he told it. and some were blowed to 'I went to work with bruises every day' (he was grabbed by hand by other partner once #and had bruises because he was so white-skinned he bruised like from touch)#or how I forced him to live with other man that hated him and turned his life to hell (he forgot to mention that it was my disabled brother #he flew away from our abusive mother as soon as he turned 18 and I gave him shelter. after asking partners to consider this seriously #because it's big commitment. Who the fuck makes a list of the best "female" punk bands (where "female punk bands" means fronted by women and also bands of all women, but not all bands on the list are bands of all women) and FORGETS TO INCLUDE X-RAY SPEX?!?!? THERE WERE EVEN TWO WOMEN IN THAT BAND! I- oh, the whiteness and racism of it all. Oh, it's embarrassing.

Not to mention that no fucking playlist of punk rock should ever be complete without "Oh Bondage Up Yours!" at the very least! How can you even talk about punk music in general without mentioning X-Ray Spex?
