Let's sit down and watch a comedy sitcom, my love. Some mindless entertainment sounds fun, doesn't it? What could be more fun than laying your head across my lap and watching the screen. You don't need to pay attention to the plot, sweetheart, you know how disposable these stories are, no, you just have to enjoy the show.
Let me play with your hair and you can just drift away-- turn your brain off and watch for me. You can do that for me, can't you?
Hmm...
This show has that live audience reaction thing. It's been a while since we saw a show with a laugh track. Isn't it nice to be so thoughtless that you didn't even need to think about how to react or when to react?
No, the audience takes care of that for you, don't they? You're part of the audience too, you know, so you can let go and let yourself just laugh along. No need to process it, just laugh when you're supposed to laugh.
Oh, they're clapping now. Strange how your hands are already drawing together-- that's my good toy, taking your cues and joining the audience. That's exactly right.
Enjoy the show, love. And don't forget to show me how much you're enjoying it.

placebo effect
✱ boyfriend!bc × fem!reader
— maybe the actual remedy is his smile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
w.count → 1.2k genre → fluff warnings → reader is sick :(, mild cussing, kissing, cute pet names (baby, love, princess) and generally very much in love it makes me sick >:( heh a.n → based on this request! kinda speeding through this (immediately worked on this after i posted the last fic), but i am in need of just pure fluff so here we are, a few hours later. heh♡ ⋆ see masterlist
Tumblr media
being sick felt like shit.
growing up, you’ve always been the kid with perfect attendance. be it in school or throughout uni, you’ve always made the effort to attend every single one of your classes—and one of the reasons was all because you rarely ever got sick. maybe it’s because of your parents’ good genes, or likely due to how your mom made sure you always took your daily vitamins, but you’re always known as one the healthiest kids in the class.
that record, however, ended after you graduated a few years back.
you’d like to blame it the shift of environment—you know, given that you literally flew thousands of miles away to chase your lifelong dream, but considering you also moved states away from home for uni… that likely wasn’t the case.
“hey there, sleepyhead.”
a soft groan rolled off your lips when you felt your bed dip to your boyfriend’s weight, his fingers gently ran through your surely messy hair. your attempt to crack a peek at chris wasn’t quite a success, considering how even the slightest bleeding light from the gap behind your curtain was quick to trigger the soft throb in your head to return, fetching another set of low whimpers out of you.
“it’s okay, baby. i’m here. how’s your headache?” he hummed; pads of his fingers now gently pressed against the base of your head as he attempted to relief any pain that might still linger.
chris, your angel of a boyfriend, had been taking care of you since your condition started to decline the day prior. despite your stubbornness about still going to work (which didn’t end well, considering you were sent home by lunch anyway), chris didn’t even peep a word and readily picked you up from work, all geared up with your favorite porridge and cold medicine he picked up on the way.
“it’s fine as long as i don’t open my eyes,” you meekly answered, voice still noticeably very different from your usual cheery ones. “which reminds me, we do need a black out curtain, hun.”
his chuckle filled the rather quiet bedroom, involuntarily tugging the corner of your pale lips into a smile. “we’ll get them after you’re all better, baby,” he assured, hand that rested on the back of your neck now pressed against your forehead, “fever’s pretty much gone. think you could sit up for a bit? gotta fill your tummy with food before the meds, love.”
you know he’s right—you do need to eat, but with the way you’re currently feeling, protesting at any request to shift your body was the only available option.
“can i just eat later?” you pursed your lips, attempting to appeal your plea with a dash of cuteness you knew chris have a hard time standing his ground against. “maybe sleeping more will help…”
“nuh uh, no can do, princess,” chris gently tapped his finger on the tip of your nose, “you need the meds. the food too, but most importantly your meds. i don’t want your suffering to prolong just because you didn’t get your meds on time,” he reasoned, pads of his fingers now gently massaging the top of your head and in turn made you sigh in relief. chris always knew what to do whenever you complained about a headache, and you’re grateful for that.
“fiiine,” you exaggerated, reaching out your arms as a signal for chris to help you up. even with your eyes closed, you knew he had that proud grin etched on his lips when he gently pulled you to sit straight. you winced at the ache, but voiced no complaint as chris planted a light kiss on your scrunched forehead.
“a sec, okay? i’ll bring the radish soup for you,” chris left another kiss on the top of your head, grinning at how excitedly you reacted to the kind of food he had prepared before you heard his disappearing footsteps.
you forced a peek around the room, noticing the dim lighting as chris kept the curtains closed for your comfort. after a quick scan of your and chris’ bedroom, one you’ve been spending a little too much time in for the past couple of days, your line of sight then rested upon your locked phone. a single tap on the screen, and the action easily made your brows furrow.
“babe—”
“chris, it’s 10am on a thursday,” you pointed out as soon as you heard his voice from just beyond the slightly ajar door, “didn’t you say things has been hectic lately?”
“well, yeah,” he shrugged, careful footsteps finally returned to your side, followed by the dip on your bed, “but you’re sick. getting you back to health is a lot more important to me than anything else.”
“christopher,” you groaned, pursing your lips in protest, “i told you to not do things like this! you’re important, what you do is important. you can’t let me stop you from doing all that!”
“but i’m not letting you,” he replied nonchalantly, blowing on the spoonful of soup and rice before he feeds you. “it is my decision. i want to take care of you, and nothing is more important for me than you. as simple as that.”
“but—”
“no more discussion on that matter, baby,” chris warned you, stern gaze immediately shutting off any complaints about to leave your tongue. “it’s on me. you’re my girlfriend, and to take care of you is what i need to do, because i love you and i want all the best for you. okay?”
maybe it’s the fever returning, but you could feel your cheeks warming up.
“…fine.”
with his lips blooming into a content smile, his hand returned to the steady flow of bowl-cooling off-feeding you. he’s happy, and it’s apparent through the way his gaze lingers on you every time you take another bite, slowly finishing the bowl of food in his hand.
maybe it’s your head fooling you with some kind of placebo effect, but you do feel better—simply by watching the tenderness in his face every time he looks at you.
“all done,” he cheerily announced after you took your last bite, gently wiping the corners of your lips with the pad of his thumb. “be back with the meds, okay? just a sec.”
his movements immediately ceased when he felt a tug on the t-shirt he’s wearing, eyes immediately returning to you in worry. “yes, love?”
you quietly looked at him, suddenly feeling a little shy—but why would you be?
“…you.”
“huh?” chris blinked, head involuntarily tilted to one side in confusion. “what was that, love?”
oh god.
“i really wanna kiss you,” you reiterated, lips slightly pursed in embarrassment, “but i don’t want you to catch the cold. but like—you’re just so adorable. why are you like this? i’m—"
any thoughts you had immediately vaporized as soon as you felt chris’ soft lips on yours—smile apparent against your lips. his warm hand gently cradled your cheek, and despite it being short, chris successfully left you feeling dazed.
“…wait,” you eventually blinked, face burning in embarrassment when you realized the cheeky grin he’s sporting just inches away from your face. “christopher! you’re gonna get sick!”
“well, what do you expect me to do?” chris shrugged as he walked backwards, away from you,
“my girlfriend said she wanted to kiss me—how could i say no to that?”
“gosh—christopher!”

✨The Steam Team✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Steam Team full ref's
And here are some of my headcanons about them (っ.❛ ᴗ ❛.)っ
1) Thomas | 26 y.o | 165 cm
• Cheeky, a little naive, hardworking, friendly, and very loyal
• He didn't have any family left after his older brother Timothy died. So Edward, who is Timothy's friend, decided to take care of little Thomas. And that created a strong sibling relationship between them
• Really admires Edward and always tries to be the best to make his brother proud of him. He even dyed his hair (Thomas' hair was blonde before) and chose to wear blue uniform to look like him
• Teasing grumpy seniors is his daily routine
• Can be a bit stubborn and pushy. But don't worry, he always learns from his mistakes (even though it usually will happen again)
• Always ready to help his friends
• Really likes new challenges and adventures that might cause problems. Don't know how he always makes new friends after that. But yeah, that's what makes this puffball famous isn't it
• Has a huge crush on Lady after saving her. But unfortunately they have to separate because Lady has the responsibility to keep the Magic Railroad alive. Thomas didn't get to express his feelings at that time and now he only hopes to see her again one day
2) Edward | 34 y.o | 175 cm
• Before being the wise Eddie that everyone know, Edward used to be a trouble maker for his brothers and sisters in the past. But after a fatal accident that took the lives of all his siblings, Edward felt guilty for not being a good brother to them. And that made Edward turn into a good older brother figure for all young drivers just like what his older brothers and sisters did
• Always reliable for everything. In fact, because of that, sometimes he gets assignments that actually give him difficulties, but he always tried to do it himself because he didn't want to disappoint people
• Pretty good with children too. He sometimes takes his time to play with the neighborhood children. And all the kids really like him and are very excited every time he comes
• Has his own way of disciplining young drivers who like to cause trouble, Bill and Ben for example. Usually he would just advise patiently but he also don't hesitate to make a little prank to teach them a lesson
• Not very good at understanding jokes and that often makes him misunderstands it
• Actually very tired from everything but trying to look okay (He needs a little help)
• He has quite severe scars on both legs and he also has insomnia...Never let this man get drunk
3) Henry | 29 y.o | 192 cm
• Quite shy, very easy to feel anxious, gentle but can also be a little rough, one of the strongest but people sometimes forget about that because he is quite timid
• Gets along well with young drivers. But he can be a bit mean to them too when he's with other seniors. But slowly he changed now
• Has health problems and has a large scar on his body from the Flying Kipper accident. It makes him feel insecure and try cover it with his turtle neck clothes
• Really likes nature, likes to spend his free time in the forest, and his room is literally filled with potted plants. Has venus flytrap plants that he names Fairy, Bubble, and Lala that he talks to and considers them his pets
• Sometimes he would fish at night after delivering the Flying Kipper and sometimes he would ask Percy to come with him if he wasn't busy and chatting about lots of things together
• Whenever he felt anxious and had a problem, he would usually talk to Edward or Emily about it
4) Gordon | 30 y.o | 192 cm
• Overproud of himself, grumpy, and always seems to look down on young drivers and diesel drivers. But actually he also has a soft side that he doesn't show openly to everyone because of his pride. His face would change when he smiled
• Sleepyhead even though he's a coffee addict, likes to eat a lot, and sometimes smokes in his spare time
• Only likes to take the Express, and would be very lazy if he got another job besides that. Will feel annoyed if other people take the Express even if it's his own friend. But he didn't mind if it was Rebecca
• Very stubborn, only Edward and Sir Topham Hat can deal with that
• Comes from a famous family but he doesn't really like it and doesn't care. Because he has a bad relationship with his relatives and is even awkward when he is with his brother Flying Scotsman
• Really loves all his friends even though he doesn't say it. He will usually give gifts as an apology when his friends are offended by his behavior. He has a hard time accepting new people and can't let go of his friends easily
5) James | 27 y.o | 180 cm
• Splendid, a little narcissistic, and sometimes looks down on others even though he doesn't really mean to
• He looks tough but is actually sensitive, easily offended and will cry silently if someone insults him. That's why he always wants to be the best so that people will praise him more often
• The gossip in the group, literally loves to talk about any drama with the others
• Has several piercing scars on his ears from his emo past. He also has big scars on both arms from an accident but he covered them with fire tattoos and it makes him feel cooler and more confident than ever
• Doesn't like anything dirty and hates insects, especially bees
• Very knowledgeable about fashion, likes to go shopping for new clothes every weekend, happy to give advice on outfit styles. Emily was the one who helped him dye his hair
• Likes collecting cute little things but never tells it to anyone except Emily and Percy
6) Percy | 26 y.o | 160 cm
• The youngest in the group and is often teased by his friends and seniors. Cinnamon rolls but doesn't hesitate to say bad words when he gets really annoyed
• Literally can make friends with anyone even diesel drivers. But a little cynical with Harold because he calls him "Dirty Percy"
• Animal lover, friendly with wild animals, and has many pets such as dog, cat, fish, and even has a collection of insects in his room. Sometimes he liked seeing James' frightened expression when he brought his insects pet
• Admires Henry and considers him his older brother. Henry thought it was cute and was okay with it. In fact, Percy's current uniform is actually Henry's old uniform that was given to him because Percy didn't like his own uniform
• He likes to stay over at Toby's place to play with Henrietta's pet dog. And he thought it was a suitable place to write poetry at his free time (Yes, he likes poetry)
• Percy is quite often asked for help writing and sending love letters by his friends. That made him know about everyone's crushes on Sodor
7) Toby | 40 y.o | 175 cm
• Introverted and doesn't really like being around a lot of people but he still socializes because of his wife. Wise and actually always able to give useful advice but he is quite often underestimated by young drivers
• Always doing things slowly and relaxed, he doesn't like being rushed. Even every lunch time, when his friends had almost finished their food, he still on a few bites. Henrietta was the only one that patient enough for that
• Bookworm and will only wear glasses when reading. Percy says that he looks different when he wears it
• Very good at cooking and often brings food to his friends but he always says that it was made by Henrietta (He doesn't want people to know about it). But of course Percy knew about it, and every time he came to his place, Toby would make cakes and other snacks just for Percy
• He prefers to spend holidays with his wife at home or playing with his pet birds, so sometimes his friend had to push him a little to get him go out together
• Secretly has trust issues and anger issues. He doesn't put much trust in other people who he only considers as ordinary friends. He usually tries to be quiet and patient when someone bothers him, but he can become very out of control when he loses his temper.(Better no need to know what he's do and just don't make him angry)
8) Emily | 29 y.o | 170 cm
• The mature ones in the group, bossy and stubborn in the past but now she has learned to be more open-minded to other people's suggestions (Still a bit bossy sometimes but at least she tried)
• Perfectionist, always wants everything to work well and can be a bit strict about it
• Love pretty and shiny things, she and James often talk about their favorite things
• James sometimes helps her with makeup and choosing outfits every time she goes out somewhere. Which was challenging for James because Emily liked goth style
• She also often talks about flowers with Henry, literally can spending a lot of time just talking about them. Grows lots of flowers in her room with Henry's help, and as a thank you, sometimes she gave Henry some insects to feed his pet venus flytrap (Don't know where she got them but Henry is always happy to receive it...Don't worry, she didn't take it from Percy)
• Likes to borrow novels, especially thriller and mystery genres, from Toby. But that often makes Toby annoyed because she always forgets to return it
• Love to playing with her friends' fluffy hair. Percy, Henry, and Edward are always be the victims if they are careless
• Unlike Edward, she's quite strong and can drink a lot without getting drunk
Sorry if this is too long...I had a lot of fun writing all this ;D and in the future I will always use this design for my AU ⊂((・▽・))⊃

ROUND 2B, MATCH 7 OUT OF 8!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Olruggio:
LITERALLY MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. on the outside he seems like a cynical, tired older man that doesn't care, but he actually cares SO MUCH and is SO SWEET, both with the kids & with his "platonic" life companion. he makes magical inventions for profit, yes, but also with so much whimsy and love for the craft. his inventions are bright and warm and... I'm crying remembering the scene when Coco tells him how much the steps that light up meant to her & him making the magic stone to keep you warm during cold nights...
while he is a hard worker and does often overwork himself, he does take sleep just as seriously.
Olruggio is a CHRONIC overworker who is constantly sleepy because he works too close to his deadlines. He tells the students he's responsible for to never do what he does but he will never take his own advice. He also makes them all magic warmth items so they'll all sleep more cozily. King of being tired
Agares Picero:
Guy who is so sleepy all the time. He's constantly wearing an eye mask and floating around on his cloud bed. Definitely is asleep for half the show. When you remove his eye mask he has the prettiest eyes ever that cause people to be thrown back by how sparkly and beautiful they are. His bloodline ability is called 'My Bed' and he can manipulate anything he considers his bed (primarily the earth)
So sleepy eepy <3 he's a lil grump grump when ppl are disturbing his sleep. His power let's him make any space the comfiest coziest for naps. He's so pretty and wears cute lil sleep mask.
He has a magic cloud pillow and can manipulate any area he sees as his bed. Also his hair looks like a sleeping hat, which is very fun and silly.
Grumpy little guy who loves sleeping. Goes everywhere on his cloud pillow.

Here are some Lonel incorrect quotes I cackled on.
Lonel: Hi. Selys: Hey, did you do what I said? Did you tell them? Lonel: I did. Selys: And what did they say? Lonel: “Thank you.” Selys: You’re totally welcome. What’d they say? Lonel: They said, “Thank you.” I said “I love you” and Odena said, “Thank you.”
Odena: You should have realised, Lonel, if Selys didn't kill you, we would. Okay but this one would be a fucking plot twist LMAO.
Lonel: *sneaking in through their window* Selys: *turning in their chair and flicking the light one* You want to tell me where you've been all night? Lonel: I was with Odena? Odena: *turning in their chair* Wanna try again?
Lonel: Well, remember when Odena made a romantic dinner for me? Selys: Lonel, they microwaved you a pizza.
Odena: You ever see something that changes your life and you're just like "huh.." Lonel: I saw you. Odena: Honestly that's so cute and sweet but it kinda makes this awkward because I was gonna show you a picture of Selys in a turkey costume.
Lonel: I asked Odena out. Selys: Oh, I’m sorry. Lonel: Why? Selys: Well, I assume they said no. Lonel: No, they said yes. Selys: Really? Then I’m sorry for them.
*at 3am* Selys: *runs into Lonel’s room and turns on the light* Wake up sleepyhead! Lonel: *wakes up* Dude! Selys: *cackles* Odena: *sits up from where they were sleeping behind Lonel* What the fuck, Selys? Selys: *jaw drops* Wait WHAT-
Odena: That shirt looks great, Lonel. Lonel: Thanks. Odena: But I bet it would look even better on Selys's floor. Selys: Are you hitting on Lonel... for me?
Odena: Do you support gay rights? Selys: I’m literally gay. Lonel: They’re avoiding the question!
Selys: Someone take me to art museums and make out with me. Lonel: But they said not to touch the masterpieces. Selys: Well somebody's got to pin the artwork to the wall. Odena, on a walkie talkie: This is Odena, those idiots are fucking around in the East wing again.
Lonel: Where are you going? Odena: To get MYSELF a gift cause somebody didn't get me one! Lonel: I told you I did! Its coming here on Friday! Selys, knowing full well that Lonel got Odena an engagement ring: *eating popcorn*
Selys: So, are you two dating now? Lonel & Odena: Yes. Selys: Why? Lonel: I happen to find Odena very appealing. Selys: Yeah, I can understand that. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with Odena.
Odena: Why doesn’t Lonel find me sexy when I bite my lip? Selys: What do you look like when you bite your lip? Odena: *bites lip* Selys: ...Have you considered biting your bottom lip instead?
Selys: Can we talk about that mass email you sent? Lonel: Why? It was important. Selys: All it says is, "I'm back on my shit". Odena, shrugging: The people need to know.
Odena: Hey guys! I drew everyones soul! Selys: Why is Lonel's a monster? Lonel: Odena, you forgot Selys's! Its only an empty space! Odena, proudly: Exactly.
Odena, to Selys and Lonel: *holding knife out in front of them* Are you or are you not an enemy of the people?! Selys: ... Lonel: ... Selys: That is such an open-ended question. Lonel: Yeah, it really depends on a lot of different factors-
*Lonel and Odena texting* Lonel: Come downstairs and talk to me please. I'm lonely. Odena: Isn't Selys there? Lonel: Yes but I like you more.

Two of A Kind: The Wrong Twin
Chapter 1
word count: 2.8k
The blaring of an alarm woke Jane with a start, blinking blearily she could make out the beginnings of the morning light peaking in from the sliver of space that the curtains failed to cover. Turning to her side away from the widow she watched the outline of her sister sleeping peacefully on her bed across from her, chest rising and falling peacefully as drool dripped from the side of her mouth. Narrowing her eyes, she reached behind her grabbing her stuffed bunny animal that she’d had since her childhood, Jane flung it with all the force she could muster hitting her target right in the face with the plush. With a muffled thud, the stuffed bunny hit her sister square in the face, causing her to jolt awake with a startled yelp. Her eyes flew open, wide with confusion, as she wiped the drool from her mouth and blinked in bewilderment.
"What the...?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes, and trying to make sense of the situation.
Jane couldn't help but burst into laughter at her sister's disheveled state, her amusement evident in the mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "Good morning, sleepyhead!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with playful teasing.
Her sister's expression shifted from confusion to annoyance as she realized what had just happened. "Jane, seriously? Do you have to wake me up like that?" she grumbled, tossing the stuffed bunny back in her direction.
But Jane just laughed even harder, dodging the flying plush toy with practiced ease. "Come on, you have to admit, it was pretty funny," she insisted, her laughter echoing through the room.
Despite her initial irritation, her sister couldn't help but crack a smile at Jane's infectious laughter. "Yeah, yeah, whatever," she replied, rolling her eyes in mock exasperation. "Just don't make a habit of it, okay?"
“I wouldn’t need to if you’d wake up to your own alarm, you do realize you get up a whole hour before I do right, maybe you should’ve thought about that before you got a scholarship to the rich school Mrs. Honor roll” Jane retorted with a chortle as her sister groaned while rolling out of bed to begin getting ready.
“Yea well not all of us can count on our martial art skills to get us into college, going to Kocher will give me a leg up so I guess someone just going to have to deal with waking up early” Her sister, Jessi, finished with a laugh before ducking out of thee room when she saw her sister begin to playfully get out of bed. Dropping back down on her bed with a sigh, jane shook her head fondly at her brother before deciding to get an early start on breakfast before getting ready.
The two siblings had been attached at the hip since birth, whether this had anything to do with them quite literally being born at the same time was neither here nor there. Jane being born 2 minutes before Jessi was a fact that she refused to let her forget and often led her to assume the big sister role, which she’d then point out was unnecessary considering they were the same age. Their parents' dedication to their noodle shop was unwavering, often requiring them to leave home before dawn to prepare for the day ahead. Despite the financial strain, they had always prioritized their children's education, instilling in Jane and Jessi the value of hard work and determination.
Jane couldn't help but feel a swell of pride as she thought about her sister's scholarship to Kocher High School. She knew firsthand the effort and dedication she had put into achieving such a feat, and she admired her for it. Though their parents' income was stretched thin, Jane had willingly contributed a significant portion of her savings from winning martial arts competions to help cover Jessi's uniform and book expenses, understanding that education was an investment in their future.
Their bond as siblings was unbreakable, forged through years of shared experiences and mutual support. Despite being born just two minutes apart, Jane often found herself assuming the role of the protective older sister, a responsibility that Jessi sometimes teased her about. But for Jane, it was a role she embraced wholeheartedly, always ready to help her sister whenever she needed. When they were at the same school that usually mean stopping people from picking on her but thankfully her transfer to this new school meant those day were gone.
Glancing at the clock she notices that it was about the rime that she’d need to start getting ready to head out as well, plating Jessi’s breakfast she made her way upstairs just in time to pass her on her way down.
“Breakfast is on the table, don’t forget to eat before heading out have a good day little sister” she teased with a chuckle before ducking into the bathroom to avoid her sister’s wrath. As Jane stepped into the bathroom, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Her heart-shaped face, dotted with freckles, stared back at her with determination. Her short hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders, framing her features with a touch of effortless charm.
Deciding to forgo makeup for the day, Jane pulled her hair back into a low ponytail, securing it with a hair tie. She admired the way the strands cascaded down her back, a testament to her easygoing nature.
People often remarked on the striking resemblance she shared with her sister, from their similar heart-shaped faces to the way their hazel eyes crinkled when they laughed the only difference being that Jessi had taken to dying her natural dark brown hair a honey blonde since they’d hit puberty. With a final adjustment to her ponytail, Jane flashed herself a grin in the mirror. Ready to face the day ahead, she gathered her belongings and headed downstairs.
As Jane breezed into the kitchen, her eyes fell upon the familiar sight of Jessi's school jacket slung over the back of a chair. She couldn't help but chuckle at her sister's forgetfulness, shaking her head in amusement.
"Looks like someone forgot their jacket," Jane mused to herself, reaching out to grab the garment. She held it up with a playful smirk, inspecting it as if it held all the answers to life's mysteries. Since Jessi had started a Kocher at the beginning of their junior year, she’d forgotten her jacket a handful of times but each time, jane found joy in teasing her sister about his forgetfulness.
"Better not let her leave without this," Jane muttered to herself, a grin spreading across her face. With a quick glance at the clock, she hoped she might have just enough time to catch up to Jessi before she the bus came like she usually did and headed out the door.

After catching the bus to her own school, Jane was currently at her locker grabbing her books for her first class and putting her bag away. Just as she was about to close her locker, she felt a presence creeping up behind her. With a playful giggle, she spun around to find herself face to face with her best friend, Kanning.
"Boo!" Kanning exclaimed, grinning mischievously as she leaned against the locker next to Jane's. "Caught you off guard, didn't I?"
Jane couldn't help but laugh at her friend's antics. "You sure did," she replied, rolling her eyes playfully. "What are you doing here so early? Don't tell me you're actually on time for once."
Kanning laughed, shaking her head. "Hey, I'll have you know that I am perfectly punctual when it counts," she insisted, though the twinkle in her eye gave her away. Jane laughed while shaking her head at her friend before slinging her arm over her shoulder and leading her in the direction of a table to chat before school started.
“Our group seems to have shrunk in the last yea huh. First Gorya and now Jessi, the fantastic four is separated” Kanning faked a crying sound while leaning her head onto Jane’s shoulder.
“Oh, what ever will we do, there there don’t cry” Jane comforted before pinching kanning’s cheek to get her to drop the act. “Quit your dramatics, we’ll see them later at Uncle Ga’s. Besides, is this your way of saying that I’m boring” she finished while feigning a glare and crossing her arms. Kanning's fake sobbing turned into giggles as Jane pinched her cheek. "Oh, please! Like anyone could ever find you boring," she retorted with a playful eye roll. "But seriously, it does feel a bit strange without the whole gang together."
Jane nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's different, but change can be a good thing, right? Besides we get to brag that our friends got in the top school in the country. We’ll just have to hold down the fort for them hm."
Kanning grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You're right, fearless leader! The adventures of the fantastic four continue, even if we're missing a few heroes today," she declared, striking a superhero pose for emphasis.
Jane couldn't help but laugh at her friend's enthusiasm. "Fantastic four it is, then. But speaking of missing members, guess who forgot her school jacket this morning?" she said, her voice laced with amusement.
Kanning raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Who, Jessi? No surprises there," she replied with a chuckle. "Wait, doesn’t she have a debate competition today! What’s she going to do?” Kanning stood as the realization struck her.
Jane grinned while placing her hand on her friend’s arm to get her to sit back down. "Relax, I’ve got it figured out, I’ll just sneak out during lunch and take it to her." she replied, a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes.
Kanning laughed, shaking her head in amusement. "You're too good to her, you know that? But hey, it's all part of being the fantastic four," she said, linking her arm with Jane's as they headed to their first class. "Today’s shaping up to be quite the adventure, jacket delivery and all!"

“Are you sure about this?” Kanning whispered while watching Jane scale the fence behind the gym, which faced the street.
“How are you even going to make it into their school without drawing attention to yourself?” Jane paused, perched on the fence for a moment before a grin spread across her lips. “I’ll just have to use our face card to get in.”
Kanning snorted. “Are you forgetting that you and Jessi haven’t had the same hair color since you hit puberty?”
Jane rolled her eyes before gesturing to her backpack, which was in Kanning’s grip. When she handed it to her, Jane pulled out a black bucket hat, placing it on her head with a cheeky grin. “Problem solved! I’ll be back before you know it, cover for me.”
Landing on the other side of the fence, Jane turned back to Kanning with a smile, to which she got an eyeroll in response. “That stopped being cool since we were freshmen. Don’t forget to set your watch; you have 40 minutes until lunch ends. Get there and back before then,” Kanning emphasized with a faux-serious look toward her friend.
Jane flashed a thumbs-up before darting off, disappearing around the corner of the school building. Kanning shook her head, a mixture of amusement and concern crossing her features as she watched her friend go.
Approaching the school Jane let out an impressed whistle at the size before continuing to the entrance, as she was about to approach, she quickly ducked back when she spotted a security guard. Looking around she noticed that the fence was much higher than the one at her school and would draw to much attention if she tried to scale it. During her panic, she noticed a luxurious car approaching the guard and smirked as an idea struck her, slipping on her sisters jacket she caught up to the car and put her plan into action.
As the car pulled up to the guard, Jane seized the opportunity and slipped in behind it, using the vehicle as a shield to hide her presence. She kept her head down, hoping the guard wouldn't notice her as he attended to the occupants of the car.
From her vantage point, Jane listened intently, her heart pounding in her chest. She could hear snippets of conversation between the guard and the occupants of the car, but her nerves made it difficult to focus. All she could think about was the risk she was taking and the consequences if she were caught.
As the car pulled away from the guard, Jane seized the opportunity and continued to use it as cover, staying close behind until it was safely past the guard. With bated breath, she waited for the perfect moment to break away and make her move. Once she thought she was far enough away she stood straight and begin walking away, unaware of the back window rolling down from the backseat with curious eyes.

Navigating the ginormous halls of the school proved to be another task, jane found herself turned around more times than she’d like to admit. By the time she’d finally managed to find what looked to be a cafeteria a glance at her watch showed that she had about 20 minutes to find her sister and get back to her own school.
Jane hurried through the crowded cafeteria, her eyes scanning the sea of faces for any sign of her sister, she nearly cried of relief when she spotted her sister sitting with Gorya at a table in the far-right corner of the cafeteria. As she began making her way over the table she was stopped as a group of girls rushed by her shrieking towards a staircase where she saw four boys descending. Continuing her way albeit little confused, Jane ducked her head down as she began to pass the group only to once again have her path interrupted by the sparkiest pair of loafers she’d ever seen. Slowly raising her gaze, she came to face the owner of the shoes, a boy who looked at her with a mix of irritation and condensation.
Jane felt a pang of unease as she met the boy's gaze, his eyes piercing through her with an intensity that made her squirm uncomfortably. She shifted on her feet, suddenly self-conscious as she noticed the silence that washed over the cafeteria under his scrutiny.
"Excuse me," she mumbled, attempting to sidestep him and continue her way, but the boy didn't move, blocking her path with an air of deliberate stubbornness.
"You know if you’re going to use someone’s car to sneak into school late, you should make sure you know whose car it is” he said, his tone clipped and authoritative. "You’re lucky I don’t charge you the cleaning bill, since I’ll have to get, you’re fingerprints washed off later."
Jane bristled at the accusation, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "It was a special circumstance."
The boy arched an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by her apology. "Well, next time, keep your hands off thing you probably won’t ever be able to afford," he replied, his tone dismissive as he brushed past her with his entourage, his shoulders stiff with indignation. Jane’s irritation spiked as he passed by “Jerk” she mumbled with an eyeroll.
“What was that?” She heard behind her and turned, “Oh I’m sorry was that not loud enough for you” clearing her throat she paused “I said you’re a Jerk” she finished sounding out the word for extra emphasis.
“Do you know who you’re talking to?” the boy retorted, taking an imposing step towards the girl. “No and quite frankly I don’t care to either” she continued scanning him from head to toe before casting a glance to her watch “I’ve already wasted enough time on you, if you’ll excuse me”
“I’m not done talking to you-” the rough hand landing on her shoulder was the last straw. Jane's martial arts training kicked in instinctively, her movements fluid and controlled. The boy's entourage stared in disbelief as their leader found himself unexpectedly on the floor, his eyes wide with shock. Jane stood over him, her expression a mixture of defiance and amusement.
"You really should learn to keep your hands to yourself," she quipped, her confidence returning. Their eyes locked in a moment in a stare off before a whistle broke through the silence.
“Stop, right there young lady!” A teacher appeared pointing a ruler at Jane, whose eye widened before she took off in the opposite direction.
As the girl ran down the hall in search of the exit, she yelped as her arm was suddenly grabbed and she was yanked in a dark supply closet. Putting her arms up she prepared to swing before letting out a breath at the familiar face in front of her.
“Jessi!” “What did you do!” the girls both exclaimed at the same time.

What Mattress Should I Buy to Make Every Night a Dream?
Hey there, sleepyhead! If you've been tossing and turning at night, wondering, "What mattress should I buy?" you're not alone. Buying a mattress can be as confusing as trying to count sheep when you're wide awake—it's not a one-size-fits-all scenario. It's more like buying a pair of shoes; what might be comfortable for one person could be a literal pain in the back for another. But don't worry, The Royal Family Furniture has got your back (and your sides and your stomach) covered.
The Great Mattress Quest: What To Consider
When it comes to bedroom furniture, no piece is more crucial than your mattress. It's the silent partner that supports you through every night and lets you wake up refreshed and ready for the day. The question, "What mattress should I buy?" is a loaded one, and here are some key factors to consider:
Your Sleep Position: Whether you're a side sleeper, back sleeper, or stomach sleeper impacts the type of mattress you should choose.
Your Body Type: The right mattress should properly support your weight and body shape without causing discomfort.
Your Budget: Mattresses range from the budget-friendly to the bank-breaking. Figure out your budget first to narrow down your choices.
Lifestyle: Do you frequently move? You might want a box drop mattress. Got a partner who tosses and turns? Consider a mattress with good motion isolation.
A Sleeper's Guide to Types of Mattresses
There's a whole world of mattresses out there, each promising the sleep of your dreams. Let's explore some popular types and mattress guides:
Memory Foam Mattress
Ah, the memory foam mattress, the cloud-like wonder that hugs you as you sleep. These mattresses are a hit among side sleepers and those with joint pain, as they contour to your body's shape, distributing weight evenly and providing excellent pressure relief. They can be a touch warmer than other types, though, so if you're a hot sleeper, you might want to opt for a gel-infused version.
Innerspring Mattress
The classic choice from the mattress factory, innerspring mattresses, uses a system of metal springs for support. They offer a good bounce and excellent cooling properties. If you're a combination sleeper who moves around a lot or prefers a firmer surface, this might be your match.
Hybrid Mattress
Can't decide between memory foam and innerspring? A hybrid mattress combines the best of both worlds—pressure relief from the foam and support from the spring coils. It's a win-win!
Box Drop Mattress
A box drop mattress is essentially a bed-in-a-box. These mattresses are compressed, rolled, and shipped in a box, making them easy to transport and set up. They come in various materials, including memory foam and latex, and are a great choice for the modern mobile lifestyle.
FAQs: Answering Your Burning Mattress Questions
Q: How often should I replace my mattress?
A: Generally, a good-quality mattress should last about 7-10 years. However, if you frequently wake up with aches and pains, it might be time to bid your old mattress goodbye.
Q: What's the best mattress for back pain?
A: Memory foam or hybrid mattresses with targeted support are often recommended for those with back pain. They contour to your body, providing adequate support to pressure points.
Q: Are expensive mattresses worth it?
A: Not always! While higher-priced mattresses often offer more features and longer warranties, plenty of affordable options provide comfort and support. It's all about finding what works best for your body and budget.
Conclusion: Your Dream Mattress Awaits
So, what mattress should you buy? The answer, my friend, is as unique as your dreams. Whether you're a fan of the plush comfort of a memory foam mattress, the sturdy support of an innerspring model, or the convenience of a box drop mattress, there's a perfect match for you at the mattress factory. Remember, the best bedroom furniture helps you rest easy and wake up refreshed. Here's to sweet dreams and even sweeter awakenings!
Remember, buying a mattress is a personal decision. Take your time, research, and don't be afraid to test as many mattresses as you need to find your perfect fit. After all, you'll be spending a lot of time together. So sleep on it, dream on it, and decide when you're good and ready. Happy mattress hunting!

Maze Runner Oneshots
Tumblr media
Gonna be updated as I add new ones
Navigation post
Source material: Maze Runner trilogy (+ prequel duology) 2009-2016 - James Dashner, Maze Runner trilogy 2014-2018 - Wes Ball
Word count: many
Summary: literally just a collection of oneshots, mainly x reader but I’m totally down to do other stuff if it gets requested or if I have an idea, I just have never had the itch (which is kinda weird). Idk, heaps of fluff though
Hiya everyone, new and old! I realised that maybe some of you like my writing judging of the attention (albeit meagre) and feedback that my stuff’s been getting on here, so I thought I’d have a crack at worming my way into the Maze Runner market! I’ve got a whole host of oneshots and a trilogy of Newt/reader fics that I’ve just been itching to edit and post, so here they are! I may consider taking requests (see my profile for details on this), but we don’t know. The future is uncertain and that’s what makes life fun. Anyways, gonna dump it all here and cross my fingers someone’ll like it!
Also this is on my AO3 if you wanna check it out there for whatever reason
Tumblr media
Newt
Note: I found out he was gay after I wrote all these. I’m not trying to erase that (mainstream media does that for us already) but also... it’s fanfiction. People write gay characters straight as much as they write straight characters gay (obviously I know it’s different don’t come for me), if it really bothers you just block me or something, idk. Anyways, no disrespect to LGBT+ community (I myself identify as queer but that’s kinda irrelevant), and I think it’s really great for more representation (even if it’s the old “post-canon confirmation of a dead character’s identity” move). Also we all knew he was absolutely besotted with Thomas so idk why we even try anymore.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on an abra line review, if you feel like discussing it!
(You ask that like I'm not ready to launch into a 600 page essay on this line at any given second)
Tumblr media
Abra is one of the cutest Pokemon out there to me, though granted I might be slightly biased. I think part of it is that it's not overly human-like; it's very much just a very sleepy baby animal, and that's adorable.
Design-wise, normally I'd say it's a bit too close to Kadabra for its own good. The hands, markings, head, etc. are all different, but it's still pretty similar, especially when you see it stand up:
Tumblr media
However, what saves it is how it works conceptually. Instead of just acting like a mini Kadabra, it instead is a perpetual sleepyhead that subconsciously teleports if it senses trouble. That, in and of itself, is an excellent concept for a psychic-type, and gives it a very distinct feeling from the rest of the line along with a unique catching mechanic.
Also, I really like the reason why it sleeps all the time:
Tumblr media
The whole line, in general, has this thing going on where they're like psychic horses and die if you look at them wrong, both stat-wise and lore wise (Abra's abilities put a strain on its mind, Kadabra gets headaches, Alakazam needs to hold its head up with its kinesis then all of its muscles atrophy when it mega evolves...), so this works really well with that theme and provides a logical reason for why its asleep most of the time.
Tumblr media
Kadabra is my all time favorite Pokemon. 10000/10 everyone else go home we're done here
Okay no but seriously, there really is nothing about Kadabra that I don't love. It's some kind of kaiju with an insect-like body, a fox head, and a giant fat gecko tail for good measure. It uncontrollably fucks up its environment just by existing. One of its dex entries is a Kafka reference. Incredible.
Design-wise, one interesting tidbit about Kadabra is that it was actually designed first and the rest of the line came way later, judging by production data (and ranked #25 in the initial early popularity polls they did, good for it). You can kind of tell looking at it, as Abra and especially Alakazam are just kind of extensions of Kadabra with less elements on them. Considering how good the overall line is it makes me wonder if they should start more lines by creating the middle evo first.
I also really like the markings. They're based off of Zener cards, which are supposed to be used to detect ESP in people.
Tumblr media
Not only do they look really cool (and serve a practical purpose; according to the 'dex, they're used to store energy for evolution), but it's a nice way to hint at the magician theme the line has while not being as literal as the spoons.
Speaking of the spoons, I know some don't like them (and I get why), but I actually think they work pretty well. They help communicate the magician theme, they serve a practical purpose (they enhance and focus their psychic powers), and it's explained how they get them (they make them using their abilities). There's actually a surprising amount of thought put into them, and Kadabra is often posed or animated to be focusing on the spoons.
Tumblr media
In all fairness though, I might as well nitpick the design a little. The crotch squiggles are... well, I just used the term "crotch squiggles". You need them there to make the Zener card motif clear, but they might've been better off on the back or something. Also, not sure what the purpose of the plate is there either; a more pointed waist piece like Alakazam has probably would've made more sense. That's it, though, and those are just things that could objectively be improved, not things that bother me personally.
Tumblr media
As you can probably guess from Kadabra being my all-time fav, I don't like Alakazam's design as much. But that's not to say it's bad--I would actually change very little about it, aside from maybe keeping the markings--and it does an excellent job of looking like a more powerful, more mature Kadabra.
The main thing with Alakazam is that it becomes noticeably more humanoid, not only losing the giant tail (a crime, really), but also just in terms of proportions. I totally get why most people would prefer this, but I love how Kadabra is like a weird blend of 17 different animals, and you don't get that as much as Alakazam.
Actually, if there was something else I'd change aside from just adding markings, it would be to make it look a bit more like the old art:
Tumblr media
Alakazam's original artwork gave off a completely different Vibe(TM). The head was considerably bigger in proportion to the body, reflecting the 'dex mentioning it needing kinesis to hold its own head up, and it was always hunched over, arms almost dragging on the ground. It really look like something that could blow up your brain with a thought.
Also, some parts of the design just don't look as good as they do on Kadabra. The longer mustache/whiskers don't feel nearly as natural as Kadabra's, the feet are a weird chunky shape instead of the bird feet Abra and Kadabra have, and even the way it's constantly clutching two spoons feels a bit weird. It doesn't really use them as a focus like Kadabra does, they're just kind of there all the time, and it just feels a bit awkward to me. Also, what happened to the claws on its hands?
However, I love the 'dex entries about its high intelligence (once again, giving each stage of the line something unique), the purple expanding to give it a pair of bracers and knee pads, etc. So it's still pretty great in my book; just not as great as its pre-evo.
Tumblr media
I do like mega Alakazam's design quite a bit, and I want to disclaim that because I need to rant about the forehead gem for a second: WHY DOES IT HAVE A FOREHEAD GEM. So many psychic-types have forehead gems, the Abra line was one of the few that didn't, so why turn around and give them one?? But it's especially weird because many megas incorporate elements from the pre-evos, and Kadabra already has a forehead marking. Just use the plus sign or square from the Zener card markings, that would've been perfect and fit with the line more thematically!!
Though on the plus side, the 'dex describes that not as a gem but as an "organ", and the thought of that being soft and filled with blood is certainly weird enough to get it a few points back in my book:
Tumblr media
Anyway, foreheads aside, I do like the design quite a bit, maybe even more than regular Alakazam. A lot of megas just feel like the base Pokemon but More(TM), so M. Alakazam does a really good job at advancing things in a way that feel purposeful. The way the head now forms a star, the way Alakazam's bracers extend to form robe-like "sleeves", the mustache becoming a full beard, ect. Even the way it transitions from magician to guru kind of makes sense, given that the 'dex talks about how spiritual the line is (though I do prefer the magician angle, just because it's a really unique angle; we already have a few other meditative guru-like Pokemon after all). Not to mention how the muscle atrophy fits with the line's frailness, with a torso so small you could wrap your hands around it.
I also really like how the spoons are handled here. Not only increasing the amount from two to five to show how much stronger it is than its base form, but also levitating them above itself, which feels much more natural than Alakazam constantly clutching them in both its fists. Also, minor thing, but I like how the feet perfectly lock together as well.
I think my sole complaint, outside of the gem, is that I would've liked to see the beard be more yellow and gradient into a white, just because having it all be white feels a hair overpowering (pun not intended but I'll take it). Other than that, it's solid.
So overall, an excellent line. I have few issues outside of a couple nitpicky complaints. Kadabra's still the best though (in my heart).

Hey could I request a Brie Larson x r where they meet at the set of Avengers endgame and they both have a crush on each other and their co stars make fun of them and they just blush and it's really
A/n: Thank you for requesting this! I try to write them within 24hrs of either the request being sent or me seeing the request so sorry if this is a bit later. I do most of my writing at like 12-5 am so some of it might be shitty lol. I love doing requests tho and will always try my best to make them work for your taste.
Word Count: 1048
Warnings: None really, just pure fluff
Ship: Brie Larson x Reader
"You better get up soon or you're gonna be late!" Called Scarlett from downstairs. Scarlett and you had met on the set of one of your first movies and quickly began to hang out more and more until you decided to be roommates. You had finished shooting Avengers: Infinity War about 2 months ago and were exactly 2 weeks into filming Avengers: Endgame which you were pretty excited about because you would get to film with some actors that you never had before.
"Coming!" You shouted back. Sadly, you weren't quite adjusted to the earlier mornings yet which definitely wasn't helpful considering you would be doing tiring work all day. You dragged yourself out of bed and headed downstairs for breakfast.
"Hey sleepyhead," Scarlett smirked at me as she cooked her omelette.
"Any news that could redeem my mood this morning?"
"Well… you are filming the 'female empowerment' scene today. You've got to be pretty excited to be acting with some new people, right?"
"Oh yeah! I completely forgot about that. I've got to admit Scar, that has perked me up a bit so thank you."
"Wow, you don't need to sound so surprised." She laughed.
You made yourself a coffee, had some cereal then went to have a shower. You put on a comfortable outfit considering as soon as you get on set you'll get your costume and makeup done.
Once you arrived you were swarmed with people filling you in on the scenes and telling you where you needed to go but they were all talking over each other so you understood nothing. Thank god I have my assistant, you thought to yourself.
*2 hours later*
You had your hair and makeup finished when you heard a knock on your trailer door.
"Come in!" You called while wondering who could possibly be seeing you when your assistant was on their break and you were already prepared to film.
"Hey, Y/n? I'm Brie. I just wanted to introduce myself before we started shooting."
You were just looking at her with pure adoration as the most beautiful woman you had ever seen stepped in.
"Y/n?"
"O-oh, yeah, sorry, hi." You cleared your throat because you noticed you were staring. "So I assume you're doing the all-female scene with me?"
You moved along your sofa so that she could sit down next to you.
"Yeah, actually and I'm super excited for it. I think it's brilliant to team up all the female superheroes."
"I could not agree more! But it sucks that Natasha isn't in it."
"Wait, she isn't?"
"No, I was chatting with Scarjo this morning, because we share an apartment, and she said her character wouldn't be in it."
"Oh are you and Scarlett, like, a thing? Because it would be totally fine if you were and I just didn't know your were interested in women and-"
"Hey, hey slow down," you laughed, "no me and Scar aren't a thing but I am interested in women."
"Me too! I don't really like to use labels because I find them too constricting though."
The conversation died down but not in an uncomfortable way, more in a content way. You stared into each other’s eyes until Brie said:
"Anyway. I should really get going. I haven't even got my makeup done yet." She spoke hurriedly and quickly left the trailer. You weren't sure how to feel about her sudden departure but deep down it hurt you a little. Why would she leave so quickly if we were having a nice time? Did she find it uncomfortable? I really hope the conversation ended positively in her books too, you thought.
You shot a couple of scenes before the all-women scene and took a break just before it to talk to Scarlett.
"Hey Scar, have you seen Brie? She came into my trailer to chat a bit and it seemed like we were having a really nice time but then she just left all of a sudden."
"Uh, no I don't think I have since our second scene but it sounded like you had a good time, eh?" She smirked and nudged you. You knew she noticed how concerned you were about Brie.
"Fine, maybe I thought she was really pretty and sweet but I don't know how she feels."
"Well from the glances she sent you during our first and second scenes I’d say she likes you back.”
“I never said I liked her, ok? I just said I thought she was amazing and charming and attractive and stuff.”
“That’s literally the same thing.”
You rolled your eyes.
“I need Y/n and Brie over here please? You guys are going to be opening the Female Avengers Unite scene so we’re just going to give you a little run-through,” shouted Joe Russo from across the set.
“Oo-ooh you enjoy yourself, Y/n.” taunted Scarlett. You playfully stuck your tongue out at her as you walked over.
*Once shooting was done for the day*
Yet again you heard a knock on your door as you were just finishing packing your stuff up to leave.
“Yeah?”
“It’s me, again,” announced Brie as she stepped in. This time though, she wouldn’t make eye contact with you and seemed to be rather nervous.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, it's just, um… so Scarlett told me how you felt after I left and I felt pretty bad so I just thought I should come back and apologise and tell you that it wasn’t your fault, it had nothing to do with you. I promise.”
“Oh no, you don’t need to apologise! I’m so sorry if I made you uncomfortable in any way. I absolutely didn’t mean to.”
You saw the heat rise in her cheeks.
“To be perfectly honest, I didn’t just come here to apologise. I came here to tell you the truth. Okay… I just need to get this off my chest. I think I have feelings for you.” She looked at you hopefully, only to have a blank stare in return. You weren’t sure what to say. You were so overwhelmed with excitement and happiness that you just stood up and hugged her. Burying your face in the crook of her neck you whispered, “I want to stay in this moment forever.”

DAY TWENTY-FOUR
You’re roused from sleep by the feathered sensation of fingertips on your jaw. Twitching slightly, you try and move away from it, burrowing deeper into the warm, gently rocking pillow your head is propped up on.
Before you can slip back under, however, the fingers give one last attack: a sudden flick to your cheek that echoes with a thwack. You flinch and furrow your brows, grumbling your displeasure since your words haven’t quite found you yet.
“Get up, sleepyhead, unless you’d rather I just piss in the bed.”
That’ll do it. You shoot up so quickly your vision swims, one side of your face feeling cold without the comfort of Yoongi’s chest. “Fuck you, go pee,” you slur, eyes still half-closed, the morning glare peeking through a gap in his curtains.
Yoongi happily but hurriedly trots off to the bathroom, giving you a moment of respite to collect yourself. It takes a few moments to recall the previous night, not just the way Yoongi’s voice had made you cum in your room, but also the way it later lulled you to sleep as he told you hushed stories of his childhood or anecdotes from his days as a sex education teacher.
You can even hear his voice now, just barely slipping under the crack of the door, humming and singing under his breath as he washes his hands.
When he finally exits, you’re propped up by pillows, duvet tucked over your knees and eyes crinkled fondly at his bedhead.
“Oh, no,” he starts with a frown, “you better get that look off of your face.”
Your smile drops. “What?”
Taming his hair with a few flat strokes, he shakes his head. “I need somebody sane in this house to talk to. You aren’t allowed to fall in love with me, it’s conflict of interest.”
Mouth dropping open, it takes you a few minutes to note the subtle curl to his lips. “You dick! I’m certainly not planning on it, don’t flatter yourself.”
“Hey,” he defends in a drawl, no attempt at modesty as he shucks his pyjamas before browsing his chest of drawers, “it’s been done before. You come for the massive dick and stay for the massive heart.” He pauses, shoulder muscles flexing as he reaches in to a drawer, pulling out a pair of dark wash jeans. “Stop looking at my ass, I’m trying to lecture you.”
On the contrary, you lower your gaze and narrow in on it. “You’re starting to develop a little bubble butt, Yoongi. It’s very cute.” Not leaving him time to protest, you barrel on. “Besides, your dick isn’t that big.”
“That’s only because you’re comparing mine to hyung’s. And Namjoon’s. And… And Jungkook’s, I guess. And-” Suddenly he cuts himself off, throwing himself back on the bed with his back hunched in despair. “Fuck, do I have a small dick?”
“Mm, not really,” you dismiss easily, deciding to finally get out of bed and pick out your own clothes - selecting them from Yoongi’s drawers, of course. He makes no protest, still staring blankly at the jeans in his hands. “You just have steep competition here. There’s nothing wrong with small dicks, either. They’re cute.”
Now visible from your angle, Yoongi’s face twists in a grimace. “But my dick isn’t small, right?”
You shrug, slipping on one of his FG shirts and a pair of sweatpants loose enough that you have to knot the drawstrings. “If it helps you sleep at night.”
He spares one somber glance down between his legs before he slips on a pair of underwear, finally stepping into the jeans. There’s a brief period of comfortable silence, before he lets out a small sigh. “Can I… Can I confess something to you?”
Although a quip would be easy enough to say, you sense the joking is over. “Of course, Yoongi,” you assure instead, sitting cross-legged on the unmade bed beside him. He doesn’t meet your eye, busying himself with slipping a shirt over his head. “What’s up?”
Once he’s fully dressed, he still keeps his eyes low. “When you- On Monday, when you voted out Jin-hyung. I was so glad.”
You pause for a moment. “Because you wanted him out of the competition?” you venture, but he shakes his head dully.
“Because I thought he might look at me again if he didn’t have you.”
Something sinks in your stomach, cold enough to make you shiver. The guilt in Yoongi’s voice doesn’t conceal the open vulnerability of his expression as he fiddles with his bitten fingernails. “What do you mean, Yoongi?”
“What him and I had earlier wasn’t healthy, I know that,” he defends to himself, “but… I still miss it. I miss him. But even when I spoke to him after the elimination, all he would talk about was you. And I can’t even be mad, because I get it. And I- If I’m honest,” he murmurs, feet scuffing restlessly on the carpet, “I don’t even know what I’m wanting to achieve by telling you this, but I couldn’t stand not having anybody know about it. I never wanted it to get this messy. I told myself I wouldn’t let my feelings get caught up. But I think a little heartbreak would be worth it, for him. Is that stupid?”
You feel so unanchored, like there’s nothing for you to grab onto to steady yourself. More so, you feel entirely incapable of helping your friend like you so desperately want to. “It’s not stupid,” you begin, reaching out to cup one of his hands snugly between the two of yours, head resting on his shoulder in solidarity, “and I’m so sorry. Does he- does he know you feel this way?”
“I don’t think so,” Yoongi admits in a low voice, leaning into your touch. “If he does, then he must not like me since he’s not acknowledging it. And if he doesn’t, then he must have never even considered me like that. I know I was a distraction at best.”
You knit your brows together, deep in thought to try and find the right words to say. “Or perhaps he knows and he’s respecting your boundaries by letting you initiate, especially since he was the one who took advantage of you last time. And perhaps he doesn’t know, and it’s only because he’s so caught up in his own feelings that he hasn’t considered that you may feel the same. You just don’t know these things, Yoongi. I didn’t know how you felt either until you told me.”
He nods slowly, jerkily. “Yeah,” he says weakly. “Jungkook said almost the exact same thing, actually.”
You pull back slowly, curiosity colouring your tone. “Jungkook?”
Yoongi manages a shy smile, cheeks colouring slightly. “He approached me. We- we talk a lot, way more than hyung and I ever did. I know Kookie has a crush on me, and we said we’d take things slow, but dammit, I can’t help but like the kid.”
You let a surprised laugh bubble up your throat. “That- I was not expecting that, but I’m so glad, Yoongi. Even if you don’t have Jin, I’m glad you’re letting yourself be happy with others.”
His smile falters. “Is it greedy that liking Jungkook doesn’t make me want Jin-hyung any less?”
You go still, thinking of your own blooming feelings for... Well, for most of the people in this house, if not - at least a little bit - all of them. “I don’t know,” you answer honestly. “I’d like to think not.”
Yoongi lifts his gaze to you, carefully studying your face. “Do you ever worry,” he begins, so softly that you have to strain to make the words out, “that our feelings have been set up. By the show, I mean.” His brows furrow deeper. “We’re living in a practical paradise - luxurious house with no real jobs, our food is paid for, we’re literally getting rewarded to have sex. It’s so artificial, you know? So who’s to say that our feelings are artificial, too? I- I’ve been thinking about that a lot,” he admits with a pensive stare.
You can’t lie. You nod. “I’d like to think not,” you repeat hollowly, “but… I mean, yeah, this feels like some alternate reality, and thinking of any of you in normal, mundane, real-life scenarios seems so strange. Like, can you picture Hoseok sitting down and doing his taxes?”
Yoongi snorts, shaking his head in bemusement as a line of tension eases from his shoulders. “I hope he hires an accountant. I certainly wouldn’t trust him with my money.”
You let out a deep sigh and fall backwards onto the duvet, air punched out of you on impact. “The thing is, Yoongi,” you declare in a matter-of-fact tone, “we have no way of knowing what life will be like once all this is wrapped up so why even bother worrying?”
He turns slightly, just enough to watch you warily over his shoulder. “Maybe because I could get my heart broken?”
You pout at him. “Tell me how that’s any different from developing a crush in real life?”
He opens his mouth, furrows his brows, and closes it again. “I- Ugh. Fuck you for being correct.”
Pleased with yourself, you hide your grin as you playfully knock his side with your foot, making him recoil with a groan. “Be as cautious or as impulsive as you want, but even if all this is fake, you could’ve just as easily developed those feelings outside of the show. Like come on, if you saw Jin in the grocery store don’t tell me you wouldn’t fall in love on sight!”
Yoongi shakes his head again, a wry smile playing at his lips. “I see your point… and now I’m picturing Jin getting groceries and looking hot doing it...wow.”
You cackle at the dazed look on Yoongi’s face, using his arm to pull yourself up off the bed, patting him on the shoulder. “Good talk, champ. I’m off to chow down on the leftover pork from last night. Care to join me?”
His eyes glitter, but the doctor declines. “Yoonji said she blackmailed one of the production team to bring her fried chicken from her favourite place. She’s hiding it in the bunk room, but you didn’t hear that from me. She’s selling some to me for a small fortune, the little devil.”
“Less than half a week here and she’s already set up a black market,” you muse, “I think I may be in love with her, Yoongi.”
“Don’t you dare.”
--
While the kitchen is empty when you first arrive, it only takes the sizzle of pork belly in a saucepan to draw your roommates down.
Jin is first, silently rummaging in the pantry and fridge for some side dishes to add to the mix. In return, you begin boiling some hot water, adding instant coffee mix to two mugs.
As the others join, the line of mugs and glasses on the kitchen island grows, until even the two Min twins are hovering in the kitchen, looking suspicously still hungry after their illicit breakfast.
There aren’t enough chairs at the table to seat you all, but luckily Taehyung and Jungkook are happy hunched over the bench in the kitchen, sharing a set of Airpods and snickering at a seemingly endless stream of TikToks.
At the table, Namjoon, Hoseok and Yoongi chow down on their meals, the latter with a considerably smaller portion made up mostly of meat. Yoonji and Jimin are on either side of you, with Jin on one end, chewing slow to savour each bite.
It’s the first time in a while that you’ve all shared breakfast at the same time, and you’re struck with a deep feeling of fondness at this little family-like group you’re living with.  Jimin sneaks extra strips of meat or spoonfuls of rice into your bowl when he thinks you’re not looking; Hoseok listens enthusiastically to Namjoon’s explanation of a summer school course he’s taking, even as he has to ask for clarification just about every second sentence; Yoongi splits his time between checking up on the two maknaes with a soft look, and scowling at his sister’s teasing comments.
“Any plans for the day?” Yoonji asks suddenly, tugging you out of your musings. She’s dressed sleekly in a black velvet mock neck shirt and high waisted denim shorts, her face as stark a resemblance to her brother as ever, with two sharp lines of black on her lids being the only visible makeup. “Except, I suppose, the mandatory fucking.”
You huff with pink cheeks, never growing used to hearing it so openly. “The days kinda blur together a little when you have no real responsibilities,” you admit, “I should probably find a hobby or something.”
Yoonji’s eyes crinkle in faux empathy. “Oh, honey, you’re gonna be so out of it when you return to the real world. You all will,” she adds, before shrugging, “except maybe Namjoon. Seems like academia doesn’t stop for anyone.”
You can’t help but agree. “He has more brain cells in his pinky finger than I do in my own body,” you swear, “he could break an arm and still type a thesis one-handed.”
Halfway through a mouthful of food, you’re rewarded to the ungraceful yet endlessly endearing sound of her snorting, a hand cupped over her mouth. After swallowing, she turns towards you to respond. “I haven’t known him for long, but that seems to check out. He’s quite the character, huh?”
You don’t miss the meaningful lilt to her voice, nor the quirk of a sharp brow. “He’s a good guy,” you reply under your breath, gaze darting down the table to where the man himself is engaged in an intensely enthusiastic discussion (okay, closer to a TedTalk) with Hoseok, now using pieces of meat to create an abstract diagram in his otherwise empty bowl. The latter looks bewildered, but is nonetheless paying deep attention to every word.
It’s impossible not to feel soft inside as you look at the pair of them, all complementary contrast. Hoseok with his slender nose and harsh facial structure and Namjoon with a round, gentle face. One of them dressed in sleek black and the other in oversized earth tones, the typically reserved one animated and the bubbly one focused in. It had taken you barely a month of shared living to become completely fond of these men, not just Namjoon and Hoseok but all of them, and as much as it was nice to have someone new in the Villa for a while, Yoonji’s presence makes you more aware of the fact that you and the seven guys had developed a certain equilibrium that seemed slightly off-balance with the change.
It makes you worry about what other disturbances this delicate system could hold, and if returning to the real world would be a shift large enough to permanently upend it.
Wishing to dispel the pessimistic narrative beginning to form, you focus in on Yoonji again. “Anyways,” you start, “how are you finding the Villa so far?”
“Certainly an interesting look behind the veil, though it’s really not ideal having to-” Yoonji’s cut off by the chirp of an incoming message on her phone. “Sorry, one sec,” she mumbles absentmindedly, but you don’t miss the way her face falls when she reads the message, immediately glancing directly across the table to where her brother sits.
To your growing concern, Yoongi is also reading a message on his phone, and he quietly excuses himself from the table, leaving his bowl half-eaten. He jerks his head towards the front door, and Yoonji manages a quick apology before they’re leaving the room.
All startled out of their separate conversations, the remaining members of the household sit in confused silence, enough that even Taehyung and Jungkook turn around from their phones.
“What’s going on?” Jungkook asks in a worried voice. “Where’s Yoongi-hyung?”
Nobody replies, Jin just shaking his head with a grim frown and leaving the table himself, going after them.
“Guys,” Taehyung says more insistently, eyes not leaving the empty seats at the table.
“They both got a text,” you say with furrowed brows, “Yoongi and Yoonji. Must’ve been bad news, judging by their faces.”
“Jin-hyung’ll find out what’s going on,” Namjoon assures, though it sounds more like he’s trying to convince himself, “let’s just clean up for them and wait for an update. Yeah?”
The two youngest nod solemnly, still with a single Airpod each bobbing in their opposite ears.
For a while, the group of you remaining sit in silence, as if caught up in some spell that would only be broken once Jin returned with some answers. The absence of Yoongi at the table is so much more pronounced, and you can’t help but feel the sickening worry swirl inside you when you look at his bowl, chopsticks strewn carelessly beside it.
Everyone is just waiting for bad news. You’ve felt this looming dread before, and it either came with a swoop of relief or a blow of despair. Your teeth find your thumbnail as you wait helplessly to see which one it’ll be.
It feels like an eternity before the door finally opens, making everyone jump, but only a few minutes have really passed. Jin is panting slightly, like he ran back from wherever Yoongi disappeared to.
“He’s-” he starts quickly, before a tremor passes over his face and he grimaces, jogging over and falling heavily into his chair at the table, face in his hands. “Their dad is in hospital. Heart attack.”
“Oh my god,” Namjoon breathes, brows knit together in sympathy. “Is he okay? Was it serious?”
Jin shrugs, looking up enough to run his hand over his face and take a shaky breath. “He’s alright for now, but apparently they need to make sure it doesn’t repeat anytime soon. If he settles, he’ll be fine, but there’s a chance that he might suffer another attack. Yoongi and Yoonji are going to the hospital now to stay with him until they’re more certain he’s stable. Just in case.”
“When is he coming back? Yoongi-hyung?” Jungkook’s eyes are wide, shiny. He cant stop fiddling with his fingers, self-soothing.
“Not for a while, I don’t think,” Jin divulges with a pained expression. “He needs to be there for his family right now. That’s all I know, I’m sorry.”
The front door creaks, and all of you instinctively whip your heads towards it, as if Yoongi himself might be returning already, but you’re greeted with the weary face of Producer Sejin, joining you at the table, taking Yoongi’s old spot. Taehyung frowns deeply at the choice, turning his face away.
“What’s going on?” you ask quickly. “What happens to Yoongi? And us?”
“Yoongi is… He was in a rush to get going, understandably, so we didn’t speak in great depth. But he in short stated that he’d return when his father was in better health if the place was still open for him. I’ve got in contact with the higher-ups, and we’ve agreed to put the show on a temporary hold.”
“On hold?” Jungkook asks in a nervous voice. “What does that even mean?”
Sejin clears his throat stiffly and clicks his tongue. “Well. It means we’re putting a stop to the game for now, in short. If Yoongi is able to return by the end of the week, we’ll resume as usual. Otherwise, we’ll consider him to have permanently left the competition, and we’ll be forced to continue the game without him.”
You frown, fighting the urge to cry. This all feels so wrong, like he’s been taken from you with little hope of reunion, and discussing it like administration feels so clinical. “So we’re just sitting here, not knowing if he’s going to come back home, waiting around in limbo?” As soon as you finish, it feels like the word home lingers in the air longer than the rest of them. And perhaps this house doesn’t feel like home to you, but it certainly seems like six of the seven pieces of home are around you right now, and it’s not the same without him away. By the way the others are solemn and red-eyed, you probably aren’t the only one that’s begun feeling that way.
Sejin just shakes his head slowly, as subdued as you all are. “Listen, I know this isn’t ideal. The boss wanted to film it, make a big drama out of it, and then kick him off the show for views. I’m doing the best I can here to compromise and give him some dignity.”
Eyes widening, you stare at the round eyes of the cameras in the living room. “Are you- are you even allowed to say that?”
“I cut the camera feeds,” Sejin says in a defeated tone, “the show is officially off-air for technical difficulties. You can do what you want here while you wait - hell, you can leave if you want, just please be prepared to come back on the Sunday. We’ll have a discussion about whether Yoongi can return, and what we’ll do if he doesn’t. Understood?”
“Understood,” Namjoon offers up for the group, and the producer leaves with another sigh and an attempt at a comforting smile. You can’t help but feel bad for him, working such an emotionally draining job, especially when you’ve heard nothing but bad things about his employer.
Once the room falls into quiet again, Jin stands up, chair legs scraping against the floor. “Okay, I think we should decide as a group what we’re wanting to do. Stay or go?”
You open your mouth to give your two cents, but before you can, Jungkook suddenly chokes on a sob and covers his face with his hands, Jimin immediately scooting his chair closer to wrap an arm around his shaking shoulders.
“Hey, what is it?” Jimin asks quietly, but the room is so silent that you all catch it. “Talk to me, bun. What is it?”
Jungkook takes a few stuttering breaths to compose himself, sniffling. “I don’t want you all to leave too,” he confesses, Jimin’s thumb catching a tear dangling on the tip of his nose, “isn’t Yoongi-hyung enough?”
“I’m not going anywhere,” the elder promises, pressing a kiss into his hairline before looking up at the rest of you, eyes widening intentionally. “We’ll stick together through this until he comes back, yeah? It’s not all bad. The cameras are off, remember? We can have a break now, we don’t need to worry about the show. Isn’t that nice?”
After a moment’s considering, Jungkook nods slowly. “‘t is nice,” he admits begrudgingly. “But only if everyone stays.”
You can’t help but smile fondly, getting up yourself to come behind him, stroking his hair back. “We’ll stay, of course we’ll stay. Let’s spend some time together tonight, we can put on a movie and snuggle, how about that?”
He perks up at the thought of this, glancing around the table as the others nod in affirmation. “I’ll bring down the blankets,” he bargains, cracking a small smile, and the rest of the room relaxes, immediately bursting into sound as everyone arranges the necessary supplies for a good quality movie night, almost back to normal.
Jungkook, as the member of the Villa in most urgent need of a pick-me-up, is given movie choosing privileges, so the seven of you tuck in for a rewatch of his favourite Spiderman movies, perhaps the only thing that can keep him glued to the screen.
At first, the absence feels overwhelming to you. Try as you might through the opening sequence, you can’t shake it. Your mind counts heads without thinking, keeps looking at the space on the couch where Yoongi liked to put his feet up. Even though you know it’s his father who is unwell, not him, there’s the sick swelling in your stomach that makes you feel like his departure is final, and shortly after the title card plays out, you’re quietly excusing yourself and stumbling to the back door, in desperate need of fresh air.
It’s cold outside, a brisk wind cutting through you. You barely make it around the corner out of sight before your legs buckle, and you let yourself fall into a pathetic crouch, your weight propped up against the side of the house as you try to suck the chilled air into your lungs.
The panic creeps up on you in swells, the irrational fear that Yoongi would leave the show and you’d never see him again and everything would fall apart suddenly feeling like a whole tsunami crashing against you. Your fingers claw at the exterior wall as you fall back onto your behind, unable to even keep yourself in a crouch.
More so than the intrusive thoughts, it’s the image of Yoongi’s face falling, of him rushing out of the house in frantic distress that replays in your mind and leaves you suffocating. He looked so scared, your calm, reliable Yoongi. He was like a pillar, but that news was a fell swoop he couldn’t stay strong against. Your heart burns for him, cramping and aching in your chest.
For a moment, you picture yourself staying out here, gasping for breath until the sun goes down. You feel alone, more than ever since coming here, and even as the thought spooks you, there’s no energy in your body to do anything about it.
Just as your breaths start to sound more like death rattles and you curl your face towards the ground, a warmth envelopes your back, arms circling your middle and lifting you up.
“Hey, breathe, breathe with me, Y/n. I’m here.”
You recognise the voice. You recognise the built torso holding you steady, but your mind isn’t putting the pieces together, and so you simply squeeze your eyes shut and allow yourself to be maneuvered around there are hands on your face and a deep voice instructing you to look at me. I’m here; look at me.
You crack your eyes open, body heaving with the effort it takes to get any oxygen in your lungs, but you’re met with the soulful brown eyes of Kim Namjoon, narrowed in concern.
His hands are warm despite the frigid air outside, and you let yourself melt into him, eyes sinking to watch his lips mouth instructions, demonstrating exaggerated breathing for you to follow.
You feel distinctly like you might vomit, but you force yourself to match his breaths. The shuddering in and stilted out aren’t as fluid as his, but slowly your heart doesn’t thud in your ears and your body doesn’t shake as violently.
You feel damp, sweating all over, and your whole body aches, but your hearing begins to properly tune in again, coherence creeping back. “Na-Namjoon,” you gasp, wishing you had the energy to grab his arms or hug him or something other than lying limp against the wall of the house.
“Shh, hey, don’t strain yourself. Take it easy. I’m here.” He’s crouching in front of you, eyes locked onto you as he continues to hold you steady, jaw kept aloft by his hands. “Keep breathing, and it’ll go away. It’s a panic attack, I’ve had my fair share. You’ll come right.”
Trusting him despite the persisting burn in your chest, you let him coach your breathing for several more minutes, the heightened air influx making your head go light and floaty.
Once a counted breath turns into a yawn of exhaustion, you know the worst has passed. It leaves you boneless, not a single ounce of power left in your muscles, but you can breathe again, and it’s all thanks to the man across from you.
“I’ve never had one before,” you manage, voice cracking, “not like that.”
Namjoon’s lips press together in sympathy, and he turns to prop himself against the side of the house beside you, letting you continue breathing independently. “Is it Yoongi-hyung?”
You nod weakly, and the academic hums in confirmation. “I used to get panic attacks a lot in university. I used to hate them, thought they meant I was weak. Like I couldn’t handle the pressure as much as I thought I could. But, you know, these days I just figure I’m only panicking because it means so much to me. And I don’t think that makes me weak at all. It just means I care. Don’t feel ashamed about this, Y/n. All it means is that you care about hyung a lot.”
All the breath in your lungs leaves you in one rush as you prop your head in your hands, knees tucked towards your chest. “Yeah.” You wish you had something more appreciative to say, but your mind is waterlogged, weighed down and not functioning.
Namjoon doesn’t seem to mind the curt response. “I care about him a lot too. He’s like the glue for us, isn’t he? I’m worried to fall apart without him here keeping us in line. But we survived before we knew him and we’ll survive now. What’s better is supporting each other and waiting to see how we can support Yoongi-hyung, too.”
“You’re right,” you admit with a heavy breath, wiggling your toes to will energy back into them. “We’ll be okay.”
Namjoon bends sideways to bump your shoulder warmly. “That’s the spirit. Now; I’m happy to stay out here as long as you need, but Jungkook was the first one to notice you had been gone for a while, and I think he’s probably getting concerned by now. If you’re up to it, I can give you a hand to get inside and join the others again. What do you reckon?”
You lean your head back against the wall, taking a moment to consider. “What movie is he putting on next?”
“He mentioned wanting to check out Paw Patrol on Netflix.”
“Let me die out here,” you plead weakly.
Namjoon laughs, the sound like comfort itself, and stands up, offering you a hand. “Come on, kitten, up we get.”
In the end, the Netflix viewings manage to distract you for the rest of the night. When your limbs are tangled together and snacks are flowing, it’s easy to tune out of reality a bit and focus on the television screen in the comfort of shared company. Jungkook clears space on the couch for you the second you return, and clings to you for hours, his chin on your shoulder. You don’t complain, feeling soothed by the physical closeness. But the hours pass, and when the majority of you can no longer hold in your yawns, Seokjin gets up to turn the lights back on and clean up.
“Let’s get some rest,” he decides, and it’s that return to the real world that immediately dampens the atmosphere again, the group of you turning solemn. You pause to pull out your phone, sending Yoongi a quick message of support, and that you all missed him already, but no reply comes.
Without words being spoken, the seven of you remaining find yourselves flocking together as you make your way up to bed. Jin flanks the maknae as Namjoon and Hoseok lean heavily into each other, the four of them disappearing into Jin’s room. You naturally fall into step with the remaining two men, Taehyung linking his arm into yours and holding you close all the way to Jimin’s room.
Somehow, the house is too quiet. Even though Yoongi wasn’t a particularly noisy housemate, his absence cloaks the air.
You have no energy to shower. Washing your face is as much as you can manage, and Taehyung is even more despairing than you are, slumped on the toilet seat as Jimin cleans his face for him.
The uncertainty is what makes your heart flutter on edge, unable to wind down, and you know from the restrained looks of fear and distress in the guys’ eyes that they feel the same. The show would be undoubtably ruined if Yoongi couldn’t return. But more important than that, Yoongi would be ruined if he lost his father so suddenly.
Knowing Yoongi is hurting makes you ache, and you cling to your lovers like they’re your anchors in a churning sea, tucking your face firmly into Taehyung’s shoulder. It soothes you a little to be pinned between them, but the three of you still lie awake as the minutes blink by agonisingly slow.
At some point, you must fall into a fitful sleep, because when a sudden noise fills the room, it rouses you aggressively, and you almost kick Jimin’s shin in the process. Grunting, the half-asleep man rubs his face and twists around, fumbling on the nightstand for the offending noise.
It’s Taehyung’s phone, vibrating against the wooden table, and once Jimin blinks twice at the glaring screen he gasps and yanks the charger out, sitting up in bed. “It’s hyung,” he declares in a voice more vulnerable than you’d ever heard from him before. “Wake Tae.”
You force yourself to dispel those last few wisps of sleep from your brain, and gently shake Taehyung awake. According to the clock on the nightstand, it’s almost two in the morning, but your heart leaps as Yoongi’s face fills the phone screen, looking right at the three of you.
“I thought you would be together,” he states with a rueful smile, though you can see that it doesn’t quite reach his reddened eyes. “Sorry for calling so late.”
“Don’t apologise, hyung,” Taehyung whines, half of his weight on you as he leans in close, “we were so worried about you. How’s your dad?”
Yoongi’s brows furrow beneath mussed hair. “Not great,” he admits. “A little more stable, at least, but he’s pretty confused right now. Nurses worry that it might have affected his brain.”
Your heart sinks, both at the thought of a relatively young man suffering such awful health complications, but also at how Yoongi was trying to hide his exhaustion and distress. “Oh my god.”
“Mm, we should know soon what the damage is,” Yoongi explains further, rubbing his eyes with the hand not holding his phone aloft, “and if he’s alright I can head back h- head back to the Villa. He’s just been sleeping a lot today so… We don’t really know how he’ll be until he’s conscious for enough time. Yoonji’s with him at the moment, I just wanted to duck out and give you guys an update. Where are the others?”
“Jin-hyung’s room,” Jimin answers, even as he’s throwing back the covers. “They’ll want to hear from you themselves, just hold on a minute.”
You hear Yoongi’s voice echoing from the phone and strain to make out his words as Jimin heads to the door. “No, no, don’t wake them. I actually wanted to ask if you’d like to come visit? Of course none of you know my dad, and he doesn’t know you, but- Well, Yoonji and I could do with some company.”
You jump up, rushing to Jimin’s side. As he naturally accommodates your presence and pulls you flush against him, you lift your face up to the phone. “We’ll be there,” you assure Yoongi, “just please get some rest tonight. It’s been a rough day.”
Yoongi’s pained smile breaks your heart, and Jimin leads the phone back to the bed so that Taehyung can say a final goodbye before the three of you hang up and crawl, exhausted but somewhat relieved, back into bed.

prompts: could you write an in canon verse (so like gods and stuff are real) fic with amnesia? it could be post TLO or it could be one of them coming out of anesthesia and feeling wonky. i just love a good memory loss fic.
@halfbloodcarrie was instrumental in making this happen!!! Her adorable fluffy idea was completely paid dust in favor of making this angsty as hell but I blame her for me getting it done at all <3
read on AO3
Everything was dark. And everything hurt. His head especially was throbbing, but he couldn’t make out any other feeling. He could hear something; vague at first, just a ringing. But if he struggled, and he did, he could start to make out faint voices. His eyes refused to open, they wouldn’t even blink, but the noises were getting clearer by the second.
“What if he doesn’t wake up?” a worried voice asked. Something about it felt familiar, but he couldn’t even pry his eyes open, much less figure out who it belonged to.
“He’ll wake up,” a second voice said, male this time. He sounded confident, assured. At least he thought so.
“There was so much blood, I thought… gods.”
The first voice again, though this time it wavered. It sounded scared, terrified even.
“He’ll be alright, Annabeth. He’s got a thick skull.”
That made the first voice laugh, watery as it was.
“Don’t I know it.”
Some feeling was starting to return to his limbs, slowly but surely. He tried blinking again, but it felt sluggish, slow. Suddenly he realized he could feel his arms and fingers, and there was a hand in his, gripping it so tightly it was a wonder he hadn’t felt it before.
“Percy?” the female voice asked, hopeful. He groaned. His head was pounding like nothing he’d ever felt before. Actually, he wasn’t sure if that was true, because he couldn’t remember his head pounding before, ever.
Come to think of it, he couldn’t remember anything at all.
He blinked again, this time managing to pry his eyelids open a fraction of a degree. The light streaming in hurt like a bitch, and he groaned again, closing his eyes.
“Percy,” the first voice said again, more frantically, “Can you hear me?”
She seemed to be talking to him, though he wasn’t quite sure. He couldn’t remember his name, but she’d said Percy twice, so that had to be it, didn’t it?
He tried to say something to the girl, but it came out as a strangled groan of pain.
“Will,” she said, a little desperately.
“He’s maxed out, Annabeth, I’m sorry,” the other voice said.
The girl (Annabeth?) muttered something under her breath in-- was that Greek? And how did he know that? More determined than ever, Percy blinked again, this time managing to crack his eyelids open and keep them that way.
His vision was blurry, but a few more blinks and the vague shapes in front of him started to sharpen into focus.
“Percy?” the girl said again. Percy squinted, trying to focus on her.
The first thing he noticed was that she was-- well, pretty didn’t quite describe it. She was seriously beautiful. Her eyes were a dark grey color, currently wide with concern, her hair framing her face in cascades of golden curls. Her nose was small and button shaped, dotted with freckles.
Even if Percy didn’t currently feel like a small blacksmith’s forge was hammering on the inside of his skull, he was pretty sure he would’ve been rendered pretty speechless.
“Hey there, sleepyhead. You were out for a while,” she said, smiling. She did look relieved, but Percy didn’t miss the genuine worry behind her eyes either, the little waver along her lips trying to maintain an upbeat expression.
“I… what’s going on?” Percy asked. Annabeth bit her lip, looking over her shoulder. Percy glanced upwards, properly seeing the other person in the room for the first time. He was a teenager, with shaggy blonde hair a shade or two lighter than the girl’s. He was wearing a white lab coat over what looked to be an orange t-shirt and jeans, which didn’t exactly instill Percy with a lot of confidence in whatever medical care he was receiving.
Of course, the fact that he had no memory didn’t help matters.
“You sort of got hit in the head,” Annabeth said, wincing as she did.
“Really hard,” the boy added.
Percy reached up tentatively, to the place where it felt like his skull was splitting inside out. Instead of skin he felt something else, some thick sort of fabric.
“Ow,” he said, a little unhelpfully. The girl smiled again-- crap, how was she even more beautiful when she smiled?-- but it still had an edge of sadness to it.
“Yeah. Discus accident,” she said.
“Discus accident?” Percy asked, confused.
“Yeah. Those stone frisbee things, remember?” the other guy said.
“No,” Percy said, pushing himself into a sitting position. It made his head throb, but he couldn’t stand lying down anymore. “I don’t-- I don’t remember anything.”
“You mean-- you mean you don’t remember the accident,” Annabeth said, a little forcefully. Her grey eyes flashed, and Percy didn’t quite recognize the expression, but something in his gut told him it was not good.
“No, I mean I don’t remember anything,” Percy repeated, figuring it was best to get it out of the way sooner or later, “I don’t know where I am or who you are or who I am.”
The girl took one very long look at him. He didn’t know what exactly he had said in particular that had triggered something in her, but the concern fell from her face in an instant. She dropped his hand, something sharp overtaking her expression.
“You’re such an ass sometimes,” she said. Her voice was a little thick, but Percy couldn’t tell if she was crying, because in the next second she stood and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Inadvertently, Percy felt a twinge of something sad in his chest, though he couldn’t quite place why. He didn’t know Annabeth, but she clearly seemed to know him, and what he’d said had clearly set her off.
All of this was really not improving his headache, which had resumed its throbbing with reckless abandon.
“I didn’t mean to…” Percy trailed off. To what? Upset her? Make her run away? But all he’d done was tell the honest truth-- he couldn’t remember shit. The guy was giving him a look that was bordering on disgust.
“Dude, that’s really not funny,” he said. He sounded pissed, though if Percy wasn’t entirely mistaken, there was a hint of fear behind his bright blue eyes.
“I’m not trying to be funny, I literally don’t know what’s going on,” Percy said, starting to feel a little frantic. Why was everyone here acting like they knew him? And why did he not even know him? He felt nerves and something else tugging in his gut, an insistent, terrifying pull--
Without warning, the glass next to his bed shattered, spraying water and glass everywhere. Percy flinched away from the table, whirling around to look at the boy. His eyes were wide and surprised.
“What the fuck was that?” Percy asked, alarmed.
“That was… you,” the boy said, staring at Percy like he had just grown a second head, “Styx, you’re not making this up, are you?”
“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t know what’s going on for you to believe me?” Percy said, still staring wide-eyed at the place where the cup had shattered. For his own sanity, he decided to ignore the boy’s declaration that he had caused it.
“Four, apparently,” the boy said, rubbing his forehead like he could feel a headache coming on, “Unless you want to make it five for good measure?”
“I have absolutely no memory,” Percy repeated.
“Great. This is just-- this is awesome,” the boy said, sighing heavily.
“Yeah, I’m having so much fun over here,” Percy said dryly.
“Right, sorry,” the boy said, wincing, “Your name is Percy.”
So Percy had guessed that correctly. Good to know.
“My name is Will,” the boy continued, oblivious to Percy’s thoughts, “The girl was--”
“Annabeth,” Percy finished. Will perked up, hopeful, but Percy shook his head.
“I heard you say her name,” Percy explained. Will deflated.
“Oh, right,” he said. He sounded inordinately disappointed, way more disappointed than he’d been when Percy hadn’t remembered him.
“How exactly did this happen?” Percy asked, doing his best not to rub his forehead again. Will sighed.
“Some newbies were messing around with the discuses on the strawberry fields-- which is stupidly dangerous, by the way, we have an arena for a reason-- but it went a little off course and almost hit Annabeth in the face. You shoved her out of the way but it clipped your forehead pretty good.”
Percy tried to process all that, piece by piece. He didn’t know what a newbie was, and apparently wherever this place was had strawberry fields that he and Annabeth had been in together? But the strangest thing of all was that Percy didn’t feel at all surprised that he’d gotten injured trying to get Annabeth out of the way. That piece felt strangely right to him, even if everything else was messy and confusing.
“So me and Annabeth are friends, then?” he asked. Will gave him a strange look, his face paling slightly.
“You guys… you’re close. Really close.”
Percy nodded. That made sense. He didn’t know why Will was being weird about it, but he believed him regardless.
“She was mad at me,” Percy noted. At this, Will winced.
“Yeah. Memory loss… it's kind of a sore subject for her.”
“Why?” Percy asked. Maybe it was a little invasive, but this was all stuff he was supposed to know anyway, wasn’t it?
Will sighed, rubbing his face in his hands.
“Gods, I’m so not the person to be explaining this to you,” he said, “But a few years ago you sort of… disappeared. And you lost all your memories. Except you remembered her. But it was really, really tough on her, she had no idea if you were gonna know anything or not when she found you.”
Percy blinked, trying to take all that in. He had a feeling that was the hyper-condensed version of what had gone down, but it explained the situation well enough. Annabeth hadn’t considered the fact that he genuinely wouldn’t remember her, so she’d assumed it was a bad joke. Percy wished it was a bad joke, because he would give absolutely anything to remember more about her.
“Got it,” Percy said, trying not to frown, “So how did I get my memories back last time? Can we do that again?”
Will grimaced.
“I think last time you drank gorgon’s blood, but we’re fresh out of that.”
Percy stared at him, unsure if he was joking or not. He looked serious, but Percy didn’t want to press it. Clearly last time had been a different sort of deal.
“So what do we do? I can’t go around like this forever.”
“Well, hopefully it's just temporary. Your head injury, plus the mortal pain meds we gave you, plus the nectar--”
“The what?” Percy asked.
“Don’t worry about it,” Will said, a little hurriedly. “The point is, your brain is processing a lot of stuff right now. My best guess is that it overloaded a bit, and the amnesia is a side effect. If that’s the case it should go away on its own eventually.”
“And if it’s not the case?” Percy asked, dreading the answer a little. As predicted, WIll grimaced again.
“It could be from the initial injury. In which case it would be… more permanent.”
Percy’s mouth went a little dry.
“Goodie.”
“It probably isn’t,” Will said, though he didn’t sound entirely convinced.
“So what do we do?” Percy asked again.
“You could try going to sleep. It might give your brain a chance to readjust, chill out a little. Or…”
Will trailed off, clearly unwilling to finish his thought.
“Or?” Percy prompted.
“Or we could try to jog your memory with stuff you might remember,” Will finished. Percy didn’t understand why this option seemed to be so unpleasant to Will, since it made the most sense to him. He felt disoriented as hell, and he was pretty sure he wasn’t going to be able to calm his mind down enough to sleep anytime soon. Plus, he was pretty sure he’d been unconscious for a good long while.
“How long was I asleep just now?” Percy asked.
“A while,” Will admitted.
“So let’s try the other thing.”
Will swallowed heavily, his fingers gripping the sides of his white coat a little too tightly.
“Yeah. Okay,” he said, still not sounding happy about it at all, “I’ll-- ugh. Don’t move, I’ll be right back.”
Percy did not move, mostly because he didn’t think he could get up from his bed if he tried. Being alone gave him the chance to observe the room he was in a little bit. It was small but clean, sort of a cross between a normal bedroom and a hospital unit. The walls were made of old looking hardwood, and if he craned his head back a little bit he could almost see out the window. It looked green out there, but it was kind of hard to tell.
Nothing about this place felt familiar, but that didn’t mean much, given nothing Percy had experienced since waking up felt familiar.
Nothing except for those few flashes of feeling he’d gotten about Annabeth, anyway.
Will was gone for a long time, a lot longer than Percy had been expecting. He couldn’t tell time very well and he didn’t see a clock anywhere, but it felt like Will had to have been gone at least half an hour, maybe more. Just when Percy was about to give up and try taking a nap, the door opened again. Will was there, but this time Annabeth was in tow too.
Percy tried not to read too hard into the fact that she didn’t look happy to be there. If he wasn’t mistaken, her eyes were puffy and red from crying, though now they were narrowed in barely constrained anger, her arms folded over her chest.
Will, for his part, looked extremely nervous. That didn’t give Percy a lot of hope about how this was going to go.
“It would probably work better if you could get up and walk around, but well…” he trailed off, but Percy knew exactly why that wasn’t possible. Just keeping his eyes open had been a struggle, and he was pretty sure if he tried to stand right now he was gonna black out.
“Yeah, sounds like a bad idea,” he agreed. Annabeth said nothing, just kept staring with her jaw clenched tight.
“I figured-- you know, you remembered Annabeth last time,” Will said, still sounding nervous, “And you guys have known each other for years, so if anything is going to jog your memory… well.”
“Okay,” Percy said, easily.
Annabeth remained silent.
“I’ll leave you guys alone,” Will said, looking like he absolutely couldn’t wait to get out of the room. He did a second later, slipping out the door and shutting it behind him.
Annabeth looked extraordinarily unhappy to be there. Any care that she had displayed for him when he first woke up was apparently gone. She said nothing as she looked at him with nothing but ice in her eyes.
He didn’t know why exactly she was so pissed-- it wasn’t his fault he couldn’t remember anything, and wouldn’t it be worse for him anyway? But she didn’t seem keen on speaking to him anytime soon, and Percy figured it was up to him to break the ice.
“So, um. Are you single?” Percy asked. It was dumb, sure, but he didn’t remember shit, and this girl was pretty and she seemed to care about him and well? Might as well shoot his shot.
Annabeth muttered something under her breath, something that sounded suspiciously like I’m going to kill you. Cool. Definitely did not make her hotter to him, not even a little bit.
“I’m not single,” she said, practically glaring at him.
“Got it. Sorry,” Percy said. For just a second her eyes ducked away, sadness replacing anger. But then she looked back up, and her previous expression was reinstated.
“Why don’t we just stick to you,” she said.
“Sure,” Percy said. He didn't want to make her mad again, because he had a feeling if that kept happening it would not end well for him. He wasn’t sure what could be worse than complete and total amnesia, but looking at Annabeth he was pretty sure she could think of something.
She took a deep breath, a little unsteadily.
“Your name is Percy,” she said, “I guess Will already told you that, though.”
Percy nodded. She moistened her lips, staring down at the ground.
“Okay. What else do you want to know?”
“Where are we?” Percy asked. It wasn’t his most urgent question, but it felt like a safer one to ask. Then again, from the look on Annabeth’s face, maybe that was a miscalculation. She was biting her lip, the anger in her expression softening slightly. It seemed to be replaced by something sad though, and Percy found he almost preferred the anger.
“It’s… a little hard to explain. But we’re at a camp. A summer camp. It’s-- it’s where we met.”
“Why are we here now?” Percy asked. Annabeth shrugged.
“We’re just visiting,” she said.
“Together?” Percy asked. She stared at him, swallowing heavily.
“Yeah. Together,” she said, though she was clearly unwilling to elaborate.
Okay then. Time for a new line of questioning. A safer line, one that hopefully wouldn’t put her on the verge of tears.
“What’s my favorite color?” he asked.
“Blue,” she said, instantly.
“Favorite food?”
“Anything blue,” she said, just as fast.
“I eat blue food?” Percy asked, confused. She smiled for the first time since he’d told her his memory was gone. It was small, but it still made his heart flutter.
“Yeah. It’s sort of an inside joke with you and your mom,” she said. The smile faded just as fast as it had come, but her answer had inadvertently given Percy more information than he’d expected.
“So I’m close to my mom?” Percy asked, unable to help it. Annabeth nodded again. She took a tentative step forward, sitting back down on the chair beside his bed.
“Who else?” he asked, without thinking. Annabeth frowned, a little confused.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“I mean--” Percy started, realizing this might be a little too much too soon, but wanting to know so badly he couldn’t help but ask anyway, “I mean, who else am I close to?”
Annabeth didn’t answer for a long minute. She was looking down at the ground again, her hands gripping her own shoulders, arms shielding her chest. She seemed to be contemplating something, though what it was, Percy wasn’t sure.
Maybe he shouldn’t have asked that question. Maybe it was too personal-- with a start Percy realized that Annabeth was probably a pretty high priority for him, given the scant details he knew about their relationship, and him not knowing that intrinsically had to hurt.
“I’m sorry,” he said, “Just forget it, tell me something else.”
She finally looked back up at him, though she still seemed upset and unsure.
“No, it’s fine,” she said, though she was clearly forcing her voice not to waver, “Like I said, you’re close to your mom, her name is Sally. You have a sister named Estelle and a brother named Tyson. And your best friend is--” she stumbled, but found herself again, “His name is Grover.”
Percy noticed that Annabeth’s own name was conspicuously absent from that list. Maybe he should keep his mouth shut, all things considered, but his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to know this more than anything.
“What about you?” he asked, voice quiet.
It took her less time to answer than he expected, but she was still quiet for a minute.
“You asked me if I was single,” she said finally, eyes ducked down, a rosy blush growing in her cheeks, “And I said no because-- because we’re dating. We have been for a while.”
“Oh,” Percy said. He could feel his own face getting red, even though this was kind of great news-- or maybe not so great news, considering his stupid brain still couldn’t remember shit. But it still felt right, like a puzzle piece slotting into place. Of course he was dating her. That was just correct, an inalienable fact he felt dumb for not knowing, despite not knowing anything at all.
“Yeah,” she said, “But you don’t remember, so… so I don’t know anymore, I guess.”
“I’m sorry,” Percy said, and he felt it. He felt like an idiot, both for trying to flirt with her earlier, and for not putting the pieces together sooner. The hand holding probably should have given it away, at the very least.
To his surprise, Annabeth gave him a small smile, even though her eyes were a little red. She wiped them on her sleeve, clearly trying not to do it in an obvious way.
“Sorry, it’s just-- that’s so you,” she said, sniffling a little.
“What’s so me?” Percy asked. He felt stupid, oblivious, but she just smiled again, a touch wider this time.
“Apologizing for something that isn’t even your fault.”
“I really am sorry,” Percy said, and he felt worse with every word, “I want to remember, I do, it’s just-- all of it’s gone.”
“I know,” she said. She sounded defeated. “I guess it would be too much to ask for you to remember me twice, huh?”
She said it like a joke, but Percy could feel the real pain behind her words. He felt an ache in his chest, like a phantom pain he couldn’t quite place, something in him mirroring her own hurt. He wanted so badly to comfort her, but he didn’t know how.
Or maybe he did. His brain was a jumbled mess, but he did know the only things that had made him feel anything since he’d woken up had to do with her.
“I… I almost get flashes,” he admitted, glancing up at her again. She wasn’t quite meeting his eye, looking somewhere over his shoulder, but he continued anyway. “When you say or do things… It’s like my body knows what to feel but my mind doesn’t know why.”
She glanced up, her eyes finally meeting his own. They were still shining with tears, though not as intensely as before.
“Like how?” she asked, simply. Percy swallowed heavily, not exactly sure what to say. It was hard to describe, given he’d barely recognized his own feelings.
“Like… like when you left, before. I was upset but I didn’t know why. I didn’t know you but I knew… I knew that was supposed to hurt, somehow. And when Will told me about how I got hurt in the first place, how I was trying to keep the frisbee thing from hitting you-- that felt right, but I don’t know why.”
She had graduated to crying in earnest now, tears slipping out of the corner of her eyes and falling down her cheeks. Percy felt the inexplicable urge to reach out and brush them away, but he knew he couldn’t. And that hurt too for some reason, a hollow aching in his chest he couldn’t quite place even though the reason for it was standing right in front of him.
“And right now,” Percy continued, even though maybe he shouldn’t, “You’re upset and I just feel this urge to do something, and I can’t because I don’t know how.”
“Percy, please--” she said, still crying, her voice rough with tears. He didn’t know what she was begging for, but he couldn’t help his next words slipping out, like his tongue knew more what to do than his mind.
“I don’t know anything about me, but I know-- I know I love you. I can feel it. I’m not just saying it either, I swear I can feel it.”
“Percy,” she said again, her voice barely above a whisper this time.
“You have to help me, Annabeth. I don’t know what to do,” he said, and this time it was his turn for his voice to get thick, a lump in his throat obscuring his words.
“I--” she started, swallowing heavily, eyes welling with tears again, “I don’t know what to do.”
“Yes you do,” Percy said, and he was sure she did, something in him just knew, “You always do, don’t you?”
That felt right too, even if he couldn’t place why, but it seemed to mean more to her than to him. She stared at him, eyes wide and scared. She was so close now, close enough that he could see every freckle on her nose.
Annabeth looked so panicked that for a second a second, Percy thought she was going to hit him, but then she did the opposite. She leaned over and kissed him.
Her lips were soft and sweet, and she tasted like strawberries and salt. His lips seemed to know exactly what to do, moving against hers like they’d kiss her a thousand times-- and maybe they had. His hand moved, almost of its own accord to her hair, tangling in it, pulling her a fraction of an inch closer--
And then it hit him. The scent of her shampoo, lemony and sharp and familiar.
He gasped, not meaning to, but she pulled back, grey eyes wide.
“Percy?” she asked, hopeful even as she tried to hide it.
“Annabeth,” he said, trying not to panic as things started to float through his mind-- more than things, memories. Her face and her voice and her words, the feeling of her hand in his and her smile against his lips, it all started to flood back like it had never left.
“Are you--” she asked, her hands on his shoulders, gripping tight, too tight, but he didn’t even care.
“Annabeth,” he breathed, saying her name like a revelation, because it was, “You’re Annabeth Chase, you’re my girlfriend and an architect and you’re scared to death of spiders and you still sleep with a teddy bear--”
She cut him off at that last point, throwing her arms around him and hugging him harder than she ever had-- except for maybe that time she’d thought he was dead for two weeks and he’d crashed his own funeral. Percy hugged her back just as hard, because he actually remembered that.
It hadn’t all come back-- things were blurry, most things, actually. But Annabeth at least felt clear in his mind, a shining beacon welcoming the rest of his memories back. He was already starting to get a headache again, but he didn’t care. They would come back. And even if they didn’t-- he had her. That was enough.
She pulled back from her bone crushing embrace, keeping their faces so close their noses were almost touching. She seemed scared that if she pulled away he might too, even though he had no intention of doing so, physically or mentally.
“So you’re back? Really?” she asked, sounding scared to know the answer.
“Sort of,” Percy confirmed, wincing as he did. He really was starting to get a pounding headache. “I remember you. And bits and pieces of other things, but mostly you.”
Annabeth breathed a sigh of relief, closing her eyes for a long moment.
“You scared the shit out of me,” she whispered, her hands trailing up his neck, just barely scraping his hair.
“I know. I’m sorry,” he breathed. And he did know, now better than ever. It couldn’t have been more than a few hours since he’d woken up without his memory, but he knew every minute of it had to have been hell for her.
Annabeth sighed, pulling back further, so he could see her whole face. Her eyes were still red from crying, and her cheeks were still flushed from their kiss. But he could see the barest traces of humor in her expression, a slight tug at the corner of her mouth where a smile was being repressed.
“What?” he asked, but she just shook her head.
“It’s nothing,” she said, but her smile had grown.
“Come on, I just had amnesia. You have to tell me.”
She laughed, a light tinkling sound. It was just on the edge of being hysterical, but she deserved it, after the day she’d been having.
“Fine. I was just thinking-- Hera couldn’t make you forget me but a glorified frisbee could?” Annabeth said.
“Hey, it was heavy!” Percy protested, but he couldn’t help but grin as he did. He would probably stay grinning for the rest of his life, actually.
“You’re such an idiot,” she breathed, pulling him into a hug again, “I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” Percy said, hugging her back. And now he knew he did, in a permanent, tangible way.
There was still a lot missing, but he had the most important bits down. His name was Percy Jackson. He was twenty years old, and in college and a demigod, and lots of other things that would surely return with time.
And he loved Annabeth Chase more than anything in the world.

Summary: Reader invites Spencer to go to New York City with her where he finally sees the beauty right in front of him.

I never considered myself a lucky man. Life had proven time and time again that no matter how many four leaf clovers I set out to search for, how many pennies on the ground faced heads up I stumbled across, luck was never on my side. I’ve learned to live with it, accepted my fate as the world’s smartest punching bag long before I was even in college.
But then I met her, and as cheesy as it sounds, I didn’t need luck that morning.
The second I woke up, the universe seemed to have it out for me specifically. I swung my legs over my bed, and in my half asleep daze stepped on my glasses, successfully breaking them. Unable to see on my short trip to the bathroom, I stubbed my toe… twice. Once I finally finished my morning routine more methodically, I walked out of my apartment only to bump into a stranger, sending the coffee she was holding all the both of us.
I had tried to apologize so many times, cutting my words short when they didn’t feel right. I had gotten through a series of “I’m, uh, oh, I, you,” before her smile interrupted my thought process, leaving me awestruck instead.
“That’s okay, but you owe me a coffee now.” She giggled, actually giggled, even with the scorching liquid causing her shirt to stick to her body. “Maybe… together?”
I didn’t hesitate to agree, taking her up on the offer that weekend and never looking back. Even when a loud crash, followed by a quiet, harsh ‘shit’ woke me up in a startle, there was no regret. Maybe just a little concern for my girlfriend who now that my eyes have adjusted to the darkness, can be seen holding her knee on the floor of our bedroom.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you,” she whispered out, grabbing onto the dresser to stand straight again. Once she was on her feet, she came over to sit on the edge of our bed, immediately running her fingers through my hair. If I wasn’t so worried about her knee, I probably would’ve fell asleep again.
“Are you okay?” She giggled at my scratchy morning voice before nodding her head. It’s then I realized how the sun hasn’t even begun to rise, the room still pitchblack. “What are you doing up?”
“Getting ready to go to the city, sleepyhead,” she said as if it was the most obvious answer, but truthfully, it left me with more questions.
“At... 5 am?” I sat up, glancing at the alarm clock three times just to make sure I was reading it right. She may have always been a little strange, but usually at a reasonable hour.
At this, she stood up to continue getting ready for the very early morning. Now I notice why she fell, the piles of clothes leading to the closet had to have at least half of her outfits compiled together.
“Well, yeah. I want to get there before noon.” Even in my perplexed state, I rose from the bed and carefully tiptoed around haphazardly thrown clothes to reach her.
While wrapping my arms around her waist still hidden under my t-shirt, I questioned. “It’s right outside? You have 7 hours.”
She turned to look at me funny as if I wasn’t the one digging through clothes and waking up before dawn to walk literally 5 minutes to my desired location. My eyebrows must have subconsciously furrowed at one point, because she brought her hand up to stroke her thumb on my forehead. Immediately, I felt the tension melt, no longer caring to correct my confusion. She still did it anyway.
“Not DC, silly. New York!” I wish it were untrue, but my heart dropped at her words. She was leaving, going to a city I wasn’t familiar with beyond reading about, solving cases, and memorizing subway maps. Is this how she feels every time I board that jet?
“W-what? You’re just going to New York City?” I inwardly cringed at how desperate and sad I sounded, but I really didn’t want her to leave.
“Mhm,” she mumbled, turning back around to return digging in her closet.
“For how long?” Please change your mind. Please change your mind. Please change you-
Realizing that I was fully awake, she let out a boisterous laugh, allowing the way it bounced off our four little walls to return back to us. It was a sound most treasured. “I was hoping to get back around 9.”
“What?” I leaned back to look at her like she was absolutely preposterous. I mean, she was!
“Roadtrip!”
That’s how I found myself in the passenger seat of her car, no coffee in my hand because I wasn’t allowed until I have “a real cup of coffee.” Whatever the hell that means better happen soon, because as much as I loved watching the way she concentrates on the road in front of her, my eyes were starting to droop.
“It’s going to be another 4 hours. You can sleep, my love.” How she knew me so well, I will never be able to figure out, but I was out before we even made it across state borders.
That however, didn’t last very long. My girlfriend may be short and sweet, but behind the wheel? That’s a different story. The horn to her car is a very familiar sound when I’m jolted awake by a sudden stop.
“Really, asshole? Go!” She yelled, slamming her hand against the top of the steering wheel before looking over at me. “Hey, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to wake you yet. I forgot how awful drivers are here.”
“Where is here exactly?” I questioned, sitting up from my slouched position to find cars practically on top of each other on a road not wide enough for two lanes.
“New Jersey. We’re 10 minutes away.” Wow, I didn’t realize I slept for that long, and I have to admit I’m a little surprised I wasn’t woken up sooner.
“How are we 10 minutes away? It’s at least another 30 to get to the tunnel.” Looking at our surroundings didn’t help me determine our exact location. To the left of us, there were dozens of graffiti murals on the side of what I assumed was another elevated highway. To the right, sidestreets with local businesses ranging from auto repair shops to fast food joints to gyms.
“Nuh uh, stop analyzing mister. You’ll know when we get there.” She waved a finger in my directions, putting a pin in my scrutinization. I pouted right back, successfully playing along to the theme of her scolding me like a 5 year old.
“I don’t like surprises you know.” It was the truth, but her contagious laughter that filled the car made me slightly less disinclined to stop asking questions.
“Oh I know, but trust me, you’ll like this one.” She went to go reach over to grab my hand from where it was resting in my lap, but stopped short and retracted in favor of slamming the horn. “Oh, come on!”
***
“So you drove to a train station... in New Jersey?” I asked while she was… attempting to park the car.
“Well, yeah. I’ve been taking this route since I was a little girl.” Once she finally figured out how to evenly space a two door convertible in a very spacious parking spot, she unbuckled her seatbelt, and was quick to grab her bag from the backseat. “Well, come on mister, we’re going to miss the train.”
To be quite honest, I have never been so lost in my life. I could probably pinpoint our exact location on a map if I wanted to, granted I was given any sort of information, but part of me didn’t want to. Scratch that, all of me didn’t want to, because my entire life has been planned out in front of me before, but right now, I get to be spontaneous with the most beautiful girl on the planet.
“Don’t let go of my hand,” she told me, lacing our fingers together and pulling me forward. “Don’t stop to look around, you will get pushed.”
We made it inside, and if I thought the DC transit system was bustling with people constantly, this place was so much worse. There were hallways left and right, all packed with people in a rush. It seems everybody had some place to be and zero time to get there.
“Upstairs.” We walked up two flights before reaching a platform, buying our tickets and making it just in time for a train to arrive. “I know they come every 8 minutes, but thank god we made this one,” she said as she sat down.
The cart we were in wasn’t too crowded, and once I finally found a map on the wall across from us, I saw that it was a direct ride to the World Trade Center.
“You said you took this train when you were little?”
“Yeah, I went to the city a lot as a kid. This was the easiest, and the cheapest way there.” A small smile played at her lips, obviously the product of some childhood memory. “I used to hop it.”
“Of course you did,” I laughed back with her, thinking about how an innocent looking child would be the first person to get away with sneaking onto the train.
***
“I said it before, I will say it again. Do not let go of my hand.” This time it was more stern, and if I were being honest, I would say that it got me the slightest bit nervous. She must have noticed, she always does, because she continued. “Don’t worry, it just gets congested and I don’t want to lose you.”
She was right about that, it indeed was very congested, but that was okay because she was holding my hand, and I would follow her just about anywhere if it meant she kept looking over her shoulder and smiling when she saw me. Once we made it across the way, and in front of heavy looking glass doors, she turned to me and started walking backwards.
“You okay? This is definitely not off to a great start.” She was wrong, it was off to a perfect start.
“Yeah, I’m okay, but you might want to watch where you’re going,” I said before her back hit the door.
“Please I can get here with my eyes closed.” And then we were outside, and all 5 of my senses were hit immediately. The sun was shining down on us, and before I could complain about not bringing my sunglasses, she handed them to me. My heart fluttered at the innocent act, taking the sunglasses with such gratitude even though she had already moved on to retrieve hers. “Do you smell that?” She asked.
“There are a lot of answers to that question,” I told her, not knowing if she was talking about the smell of the construction happening at the corner, the permanent garbage smell or something entirely different.
“The hotdogs, silly. Come on, there’s nothing like ‘em.” This time, I laced our fingers together, not because I was scared of losing her, I was, but I just really wanted to be closer to her. She didn’t mind, in fact, she let out a content hum and leaned her head on my arm as we walked to the stand.
“Can I get four hotdogs with sauerkraut and two grape sodas,” she asked the vendor, who politely nodded before moving on to prepare our food.
“You’re going to have a heart attack by 35,” I said as I nudged her with my shoulder. She gave me a small push back before answering.
“Is that a doctor’s diagnosis?” She asked as she took our now ready food into her hands, after paying the man before I even had time to blink. I just grabbed the two cans of soda and followed her where she was making a beeline for a park bench. “Watch out for skaters.”
“Yes, it is indeed a doctor's diagnosis.” I unwrapped one of the hotdogs before taking a bite. I closed my eyes and let out a content hum. “It may be a little worth it.”
“Exactly.” We sat there quietly, enjoying the warm weather and sounds of wheels against pavement. At one point, she rested her head against my shoulder, and I am convinced wherever she went would be Heaven.
***
“Are your eyes closed?” We found ourselves with both our hands interlocked, my eyes closed while she walked backwards. I gave an ‘mhm’ before she continued. “We’re here, just keep them closed, and…” her words trailed off. “Okay open.”
I opened my eyes to her holding her arms out in the middle of the largest bookstore I’ve ever seen. “Surprise!” My eyes were bouncing everywhere. It wasn’t too crowded, the large stairwell across the store catching my eye first. There were bookshelves tens of feet high, all loaded with different genres and authors. To the right of us, tiny knick knacks and pins and socks. It was beautiful.
“Wow,” I whispered out, still stuck in my place admiring our surroundings. She was beaming up at me, a hint of pride at her successfulness to drag me 6 hours away to the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.
“The Strand has always been my favorite place in the city. Come on, let’s go explore.” She grabbed my hands again, pulling me deeper into the store towards a shelf labeled adult fiction.
***
Six books, three pairs of socks and a postcard later, we were back on the busy streets of New York, aimlessly walking and admiring the tall buildings and different attractions. Well she was, I was admiring the way she was looking around like it was her first time here. Maybe I should have been paying more attention to our surroundings, but no amount of skyscrapers or fountains could possibly ever match up to her level of beauty.
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” I asked randomly, startling her into jumping a tiny bit before giggling. She stopped us, turning to face me fully before reaching up to grab my face in her hands.
“Once or twice.” The kiss we shared on the New York streets were no different than the ones before, but this time, it felt like a silent promise. A passing between two lovers that no matter where we are, our love is the most beautiful thing there is. “I love you too, dork.”

Till Death do us part - 1
Tumblr media
Y/N grew up in a wealthy family, she always was seen as a beautiful and smart kid and was most likely to take her father’s place as the CEO of one of the most important companies in South Korea. However, after the death of her mother, Y/N’s family slowly started to break apart. Her father was always working to forget his uncalled pain while his kids were left alone at home.
She was 17 years old when her life took a sudden turn when she met him in a dark alley. He was a bloody mess, bruises everywhere but behind blood and dirt, she could see his beautiful features and his addictive gaze. Maybe she should have walked away, maybe she shouldn’t have helped him, but the moment his gaze locked with hers, she was already his.
Choi San was his name.

Chapter 1
I still wonder what would have happened if I didn’t meet him during this gloomy night? We were young and I was way too brave for my own good. Maybe it was my faith or maybe it was a sheer coincidence but now, I know that I will love him till death do us part.
---------
"Hey Y/N, wake up sleepyhead! It’s time to go to school and I will surely not wait for the princess to wake up" my brother yelled loudly from the first floor, waking me up in the process.
I groaned and shifted uncomfortably in my bed; it was too much noise at such an early time of the day. My long-browned hair was messy from the last night, as always. I was the type of girl to move a lot during my sleep and my morning head was always a funny one, swollen, with small eyes and with some of my lightly curled hair stuck in my mouth. After five minutes of rethinking my life decisions, I found enough motivation to get out of my bed and walked down the stairs.
"Why the hell did I agree to help other students during holidays, huh?” I asked my brother as I lazily rubbed my tummy.
“Maybe because you are too dumb to say no to your teachers?” he answered, his mouth full of food.
“Do you mind keeping your mouth shut while you are eating? It’s disgusting.” I shook my head disapprovingly.
I headed toward the kitchen to get a cup of fresh milk. Jin, my brother, childishly opened his mouth wide to show me the content of it. I let out a long “Ew!” before smashing his arm playfully.
“No, but seriously Y/N. There’s no use to be brilliant at school if that means you have to help your classmates with their studies during holidays” Jin said after taking a sip of his coffee.
“Yeah, but the teacher who asked me this favor told me that he will write a recommendation for me if I agreed to help him” I answered.
“You don’t even need a recommendation, we’re from a rich family” Jin mumbled to himself but it was loud enough for me to hear it.
He wasn’t totally wrong and I knew it. We were born with a silver spoon in our mouth. We were “cake eater” as the other kids used to call us when we were younger, we never knew what it felt like to run out of money and everyone at school was jealous of me because of that.
But they didn’t know. No one knew how hard it actually was for me and my brother.
My mother passed away 2 years ago, and since then, my father didn’t stay at home with us longer than a week straight. He was always working, working, and working again, his job had literally become his life. He was one of the richest men in Korea and still, he was always eager for more and worked every day and night for it.
He wasn’t a good father for me and Jin. He never made any compliments to us, all he was able to do was to pressure us to be as perfect as possible or at least perfect enough to not ashamed him and his reputation. Unlike my brother, I wanted to hear my father say that he was proud of me, just for once. That’s why I was trying hard to be the perfect daughter, with good grades, good manners, and good appearance but even if I tried my best, it wasn’t enough for him.
“Do you know why I’m working so hard, Jin?” I asked him, voice as soft as a whisper, almost not daring to tell the truth.
“Why?” Jin put a hand on the top of mine, a sign of comfort since he already knew my upcoming answer.
“I don’t want to follow his rules forever. I’m still a minor so I had to stick at them but when I’ll turn 20, I will leave this house and will never come back” I sadly stated, “I want to marry a man I’m in love with, I want to do a job I like and most of all, I don’t want our father to commend my life.”
Jin tightened his grip on my hand. He understood me, he understood me too well. We were indeed rich but we were far from being happy. Jin was 6 years older than me which means he was already an adult. He wanted to leave this house as much as me but couldn’t bring himself to do so and leave me behind.
Unlike me, Jin has never been a good student, he always has been considered a failure to our father, and even if he finally was able to run away from here, he stayed there for me. I was really lucky to have a brother like him and I was well aware of that.
I took my breakfast and came back to my room to take a quick shower and get ready for this day I knew would be exhausting.
My brother was already waiting in his car. Jin took me to school as often as he could. He was working on a supermarket he owned and even if he was pretty busy, he wanted to spend his mornings with his “sweet baby sister” as he liked to call me.
I am indeed lucky to have a brother like him.
Tumblr media
8 pm, it was already late when I heard the bell ring for the last time today. I was the last one to leave the class as I helped my teacher with the preparation of some material for the next day. It didn’t bother me too much, I wasn’t in a hurry to get home since I knew my dad was finally coming back home from his work.
In all honesty, I didn’t want to see him. I didn’t miss him at all, even after all this time. I wandered here and there even though the street was already pitch black.
“Oh! It’s been a while since I last went to the haunted alley!” I happily exclaimed to myself.
I knew every nook and cranny of Seoul, I grew up there after all. My favorite place was the haunted alley. As its name suggests and according to some beliefs, that path would be haunted.
It was an old story I heard with my friends when I was less than 10 years old. A grandma from our neighborhood scolded us and told us not to stay there because there was a woman who had been murdered in the walkway and that since then, one could hear her cry every night.
A simple way to scare naïve kids you may think, and you are more than right. However, this story is known by everyone, not just by kids. That’s the reason why I love this place, thanks to all of these rumors, no one uses this path except me. It was like my secret place.
I walked around the alley with heavy steps, thinking about my father and his upcoming lecture about how to be a good girl. My thoughts were suddenly stopped by the voice of two men who seemed to be fighting each other. I stayed still for a moment, trying to figure out where the noises were coming from.
“You piece of shit! And you claim yourself as the Boss” son?” One voice laughed.
I hid in the dark and saw what could have been mistaken with a scene from a horror movie. Between two old houses, a tall man was beating up a boy who seemed to be around my age.
I felt shivers down my spine but before I could even think straight, my body started to move with its own will.
“Hey! Let him go!” I shouted, my voice betraying me by showing how scared I really was.
I moved closer to the two men, I could now see them more clearly.
The young boy was sitting on the ground, badly bleeding, whereas the tall man was standing in front of him, blood on his hand and his nose broken.
They were watching me. The silence was heavy, the only thing I could hear was the beating of my racing heart and the shake of my knees that were begging me to run away from this place. The silence was soon replaced by an ominous laugh.
“Wow. What a beauty! Is she your girlfriend? Huh?” The tall man laughed and hit the youngest on his stomach before coming closer to me.
He came closer, until he was in front of me. I had a better view of his poor state. He wasn’t less bleeding than the other man, his blood was actually covering his whole face.
I don’t know what had taken into me at this exact moment, the adrenaline was rushing in my veins and even though my feet were stuck on the ground, unable to move, my hand reached the pepper spray I always carried in my bag. Before the man could react, I used my weapon against him.
When the chemical product had reached his eyes, he screamed and placed his hands on his face, trying desperately to soothe the pain. I took advantage of the situation and kicked him as hard as I could on his crotch before he fell loudly on the ground.
I quickly grabbed the boy by his arm and helped him stand up. He was badly injured but followed me without any complaint.
I was panting when I reached a lighted street. We stopped there, trying to catch our breath.  I turned around to face the man I was still holding and my breath hitched in my throat, not from the run I previously had but because of how beautiful this man looked.
“Are you okay? What is your name?” I asked him but he simply stayed silent, staring at me with his piercing eyes.
I took a better look at his features, he was really handsome with a well-defined face. He wasn't older than me but he hadn't the body of a teenager either. His broad shoulders and his arms muscles could be seen without any effort from him. His dark hair was harmonizing with the dark of his eyes and his dimples were visible as the border of his lips turned upright in an inviting smirk.
How can someone like him be involved in such a fight?
“The sight is at your taste?” he giggled, his smile spreading wider.
I finally took notice of my staring when I heard him laugh. I must say it was the most beautiful laugh I ever heard, slightly high-pitched but almost bewitching.
“I wasn’t staring!” I shouted from embarrassment. Fortunately, the darkness of the night was covering the redness on my cheeks.
“Sure, you weren’t” He added, amused by my reaction “I’m San. Choi San. I didn’t need your help earlier but thank you, I’m glad you rescued me”
He came closer to me and gave me a sincere smile, showing even more his dimples.
My heart was going crazy in my chest. This boy seemed small earlier compared to the other man but he was way taller than me, maybe 7 inches taller.
“You’re welcome”
I was a bit intimidated by him but I dared not to look away. He had something special, an aura that seemed as dangerous as comforting. His gaze was intense and deep, it was like he was looking through me, memorizing every detail of my face.
He didn’t move and didn’t talk for at least 2 minutes and even if I was feeling uncomfortable, I did my best not to let him know.
“Where is your house?” he finally asked after what felt like an eternity.
He startled me with his sudden question, I didn’t expect him to talk this soon. Why did he want to know where I lived? He probably wanted to walk me home and I would have gladly let this handsome guy walk me home if I hadn’t met him in an odd situation.
‘But he is really handsome…’  I thought, sighing softly, making San arch an eyebrow.
“It’s okay, I live near here, no need to walk me home. You can go ahead…” I said “Go ahead to…the hospital, your house or…go murdering someone…whichever comes first” I added, lowering my voice at the end of my sentence.
His face changed into a surprised expression “I wasn’t going to walk you home, don’t worry”
I sighed in relief even if I felt a bit disappointed, maybe he wasn't that bad after all.
“I want to stalk you” he stared at me with his beautiful smile as if it was the most natural thing to say.
‘What the fuck?’
“Sure, stalking me haha, it was obvious, silly me!” I gently hit my head and laughed awkwardly, taking a step back from him.
He laughed sweetly and took my chin between his thumb and his index to lift my face up. His mouth came closer to my ear and he whispered a small “Just joking” before turning his heels back and leaving me, alone, in the dark street.
Tumblr media
I was finally back home. Fortunately for me, my dad hadn’t noticed me since he was already sleeping on the couch.
I quickly went upstairs to my room and collapsed on my bed, my mind still processing what had happened earlier. It was scary to say the least but fascinating at the same time. I was still confused even after showering. This San had a deep effect on me, not only mentally but physically too.
“Choi San…” I muttered before closing my eyes and drifting into a deep sleep.

The sun shone brightly into the quiet yet large bedroom, lighting up every inch of the room which slowly stirred Cassandra awake from her slumber.
At first, she had no idea where she was or how she ended up in bed after what happened the night before. However after taking in her surroundings the moment her eyes focused she realized she wasn't alone…
The image of a sleeping Victor Li had filled her vision, and luckily for her, he was still peacefully sleeping.
At times when they were still together, she often found herself waking up before he would and watch him sleep. He looked so soft and vulnerable… So relaxed and peaceful. It was a beautiful sight to behold…
Nobody but her got to see that side of him. Not many got to see many sides of Victor Li.
The cold and seemingly heartless CEO who never showed an ounce of emotion besides a poker face never revealed his soft and vulnerable side.
But when he was with her… He always did.
And that's what she loved most about him. Seeing different sides of him helped her learn more about him as a person and she only fell further in love with him the more she knew about him.
Cassie never truly stopped loving him. Seeing him like this again… She didn't think she could ever love anyone else but him.
She thought this was just a dream; seeing him laying beside her, holding her so close to him… Just like he always had done during the nights when they were together.
It seemed like a cruel dream, her mind torturing her by filling her dreams with the man she loved most yet couldn't be with because they broke up a few months back
However when she moved her hand to lightly caress the soft skin of his cheek, she realized it was reality.. Her reality.
Her eyes widened as she pulled back her hand quickly, sitting up while also putting some space in between the two of them as rapid questions began to fill her head which she ended up getting trapped into.
What happened last night…? Why is he still here? ...What does this mean about us?
Feeling the sudden jolt of movement Victor stirred awake, his eyes fluttering open to adjust to the brightness of the room before looking around and instantly stopping on Cassandra who seemed distraught and trapped in her thoughts.
His gaze softened as he slowly moved to gently grab her hand, which seemed to pull her out of her tangled thoughts.
"Hey…" He spoke, his voice coming out soft and gruff. The tone of his voice filled with sleepiness as he tried to get her attention.
Cassie took a short breath as she stared at their hands before looking at him, seeing him gaze at her with a soft and sleepy expression filled her aching heart with so much admiration and love for him she nearly melted on the spot.
"Good morning sleepyhead." She spoke after a moment, giving him a small smile. Trying to mask away the lost and confused look on her face.
"Good morning…" He gave her a smile acting as though he didn't just see her panic and get lost in her thoughts, but he knew her. He knew she would try to hide the questions she wanted to ask. And he knew she would be questioning their situation after waking up in bed together considering their conversation the night before.
A moment of silence passed before he spoke again, "You're questioning everything in that head of yours, aren't you?"
She looked away, letting out the breath she was holding, nodding her head. "Dammit Victor… How did you know???"
He let out a breathy chuckle as he sat up, "I know because I know you. Dummy…"
Hearing him call her a ‘Dummy’ made her heart flutter and her cheeks flush bright red. She used to hate it whenever he called her that but slowly over time, she grew to love it just as she loved him.
Cassie let out a small sigh running her fingers through her hair. Victor stood up from the bed, stretching out his tired limbs before gazing at her softly.
“We can talk about how we should establish our relationship during breakfast. Okay?” She nodded as she stood up herself, feeling a little relieved that he would answer all the thoughts that were running wild within her mind.
The two made their way to the kitchen where Victor began to prepare them a nice breakfast. As he made his way around the spacious kitchen, gathering ingredients, Cassie busied herself by making them some coffee.
It felt like a typical day. Like nothing has changed in the last four months of being apart. While waiting for the coffee to finish brewing, she hopped onto the countertop, sitting idly as she watched Victor.
Only as she watched, it only pulled her further into her thoughts. Getting lost in their past memories that they have shared during the years that they’ve been a couple. Waking up beside him, having breakfast, going to work together, having dinner together whether it be at home or at Souvenir, talking about anything and everything with one another and falling asleep beside him
She enjoyed all of it… And she couldn’t deny the fact that she truly missed him. It was hard enough when she left Loveland. Having to leave behind the place where she found her true love. It was painful for sure…
It only confirmed one thing in her mind.
She loves him. She wants to be with him.
She could care less of what the world would think of her, dating one of the most eligible bachelors in Loveland… was a blessing. A blessing she doesn’t want to let go of so easily.
“Cassie.” Victor’s soft voice broke her out of her thought process, she looked up, seeing him standing right in front of her.
“Sorry… What were you saying?”
“I was saying, breakfast is ready. Dummy… What were you thinking about so intensely?” He questioned. Cassie shook her head, giving him a smile. “Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
She hopped off of the counter and made her way to the table, where the delicious breakfast was laid out for the two of them. The sweet aroma of fresh pancakes and maple syrup filled the kitchen.
The smile on Cassie’s face grew as she sat herself down, admiring the delicious meal in front of her before taking the first bite. As always it tastes just as appealing as it looks. The combination of the pancakes with freshly washed berries was heavenly.
Oh how she had missed his cooking.
She let out a pleased hum. Victor gazed at her the entire time, the corners of his lips rising into a small smile.
“Thank you for this, Victor. It is so good.” She beamed after a few bites into the meal. He let out a chuckle.
“I’m glad you like it.” After a moment, he spoke once again. “We should probably discuss our situation Cassie…”
Cassie paused for a moment before setting the utensil down, nodding. “Yeah.. we should…”
Silence.. Deadly silence.
How should they even begin to discuss this…?
Cassie decided to break the ice by speaking first, she gently grabbed his hand, as she gazed into his periwinkle eyes.
“Victor… I... “ She took a deep breath as she spoke more firmly. “I still love you. More than anything and anybody else in this world… and I want to be with you again.”
“The past four months have been difficult without you. It feels like something was missing in my life and I didn’t know how to cope with that loss. I missed you so much and when our anniversary came around it only made me miss you more…”
“I don’t care about the rumors anymore, I don’t care about anything others say about me. All I care about is you. It has always been you. And I don’t want to let anybody or anything get in the way of how I feel for you... “
“ But the question I want to know is if you still want to be with me… and if you want to try this relationship again…”
Victor stared deeply into her crystal blue eyes, listening intently to her words, he gently squeezed her hand as he held it. The small smile on his face suddenly grew wider. He let out a small chuckle.
“Dummy… Do I have to spell it out for you? Of course I want to be with you. I wouldn’t be here still if I didn’t. It has always been you. I never stopped loving you and I never will. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
He moved his hand from hers, to her cheek, gently caressing her smooth skin. Cassie leaned into his touch, letting out a soft sigh of contentment.
“I never want to be away from you ever again…” He spoke, leaning closer to her, resting his forehead against hers.
“So… will you be mine again?” His voice came out in a soft whisper. She smiled at him as she knew her answer, she didn’t have to say it out loud for him to get it. She just leaned in closer, capturing his lips in a soft kiss. One in which he reciprocated and melted into.
“Yes…”
