cedar ❀ s. reid x reader

in which compatible bodies does not always mean compatible minds, but spencer reid is all too kind when you're like this, so perhaps you're allowed to forget that for a night.
pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader genre: smut (18+ mdni) tags: fingering yay. soft dom! spencer. situationship. sooo much kissing oh my god. lowkey asshole spencer but only if you go stanislavski on reader. no foreplay and i won't hold your hand during this. lowkey brat tamer spencer… word count: 1.8k a/n: a toxic situationship with a man who only wants you for sex is good for the soul btw <33333
"even if i see you again, i will never see you again." (margaret atwood)
Your skin always tingles beneath his fingertips. His hands delicately map you out beneath him like you are a blank piece of parchment. Every single time. No matter how attentive to your every detail he is; how much of you he has committed to his unbeatable memory. He still starts all over again the second you're naked and in his bed.
Every fucking time.
There's a nerve on the side of your left knee that makes you shiver when he kisses it, and so he does, over and over again. Hands that slide up the backs of your legs to entwine with your own fingers. Thumbs rubbing circles onto the skin as he kisses his way up your body.
He murmurs the sweetest things as he reaches for your underwear. As he always does. Quiet whisperings of, "You're so pretty," and, "I know, sweet girl. There's no one else. Just you." Sentences you've always wanted to hear him say to you, and he says it with so much conviction you forget he is not actually yours. With so much verity, you believe him.
He is just so kind to you when he's sliding lacy fabric down your legs, shushing your mewls with his lips on your own, and comforting your need with fingers threaded through yours.
"What do you want tonight?" he asks you quietly, as he asks you every week.
You never have the courage to utter his name aloud in response.
"Fingers," you mumble, absentmindedly, as the mentioned limbs erupt goosebumps on your thighs as he skims them up.
He takes your lack of full attention as pleasure, and he smiles. You let him think so, because he's kissing you again, and you fear if you protest, this will all go away. Testament to your self confidence — or lack thereof — how little of him you're willing to take, because at least it is something.
He complies with your request, fingers lifting to the apex of your thighs, slipping beneath your folds and swallowing the whine that escapes your lips at the feeling with another kiss. Or maybe the same one bleeding into the last. You're barely there you don't know anymore.
"My beautiful girl," he mumbles, index finger circling around your clit. Teasing you until you nip his bottom lip in irritation, and his breath fanning your skin as he laughs.
You try not to focus on him putting my at the beginning of his sentence. You basically fail.
Your face contorts when he dips a finger into you, the intrusion as strange as it is familiar, and you hear him hiss from your unconscious biting of his lip.
"Sorry," you murmur ever so quietly, incredibly half heartedly. He knows you aren't sincere.
"It's okay," he whispers in response, watching you as he lets his finger push in as far as you'll let him. You imagine he's committing every single twitch of your facial muscles to memory; every breath hitch when he moves his hand.
He won't be. He'll focus on you all up until you leave, and he won't think about the way you look taking his fingers beneath him the way you think about his fingers inside of you. You'll receive a violent reminder how painful one sided attraction can get when he calls and asks when you can come over next week, and you'll tell him Friday night anyways.
But for now, he is touching you, and he is telling you all the kind things in the world, so you will choose to ignore the pit in your stomach that's hours away from coming back.
"Spence," you whine, breathlessly, as he pushes a second finger in, curling them.
"Hm?" he responds to your call of his name with the most annoying smug expression, probably thinking about how easy you are to tear apart. Probably not aware of just how many ways he is.
"Too fast."
"Ah," he pulls his fingers out, instead focussing his attention on your clit to soothe you. "Sorry. Got distracted."
"Distracted?" you question him, searching his face for the truth behind his words.
"By you," his voice is a gentle hum as he kisses the corner of your mouth, and your heart flutters.
"I have that effect."
He laughs, head dropping to the bridge between your shoulder and neck, lips pressing a gentle kiss there.
"You do," he agrees. "Can't get through a day without thinking about you."
Jesus, give you a gun.
"Yeah?" you opt for asking instead, hoping the one word answer will hide the screaming of your brain.
"Mhm," he nods. You think you're successful. "How are we doing?"
"Good. Better. You can... um... continue."
He returns a finger into you, and you moan again, and he swallows it with a kiss. Again. As if choreographed, he touches you with so much knowing. Too much awareness of how your body ticks to be a man you see weekly for nothing more.
He bruises your mouth with his fervent kisses in the way you wish he would bruise your neck. But there is that voice that screams at you to say he is not yours, no matter how many universes you beg, and so your skin will remain unmarked, and you will remain forced to settle.
After one too many minutes of just a singular finger inside of you, your hips lift to meet his hand in a silent beg for more.
"I know you have a mouth you can use," he tells you, and an exasperated huff leaves your lips.
You hate him.
"Want more," you say, hands dropping down to his wrist, pads of your fingertips running along the skin in a plea of their own.
"You want more?" he asks, gently prying your hands off of him with his free hand. "More of what, sweet girl?"
"Spencer," you grit.
"I want to help you, I do," he coos, too many words cutting into the time you want him to spend pleasuring you, "but I can't if you don't tell me what you want."
"You're mean," you say, petulantly, hips wriggling for friction against his now completely still hand, until he has enough mind to stop you. "Please."
"I'm hearing a lot of misplaced frustration with me, and not a lot of communicating what it is you want."
You give in, annoyed. "Another finger. God."
He nips your bottom lip. "Try again."
You catch his gaze when you choose to shoot him a glare, and he is — annoyingly — all too amused with the position he's gotten you into.
You really hate him.
"Can you please put another finger in me?"
"Yes, I can," he complies almost instantly, and you relax as he slips a second finger in again. "Thank you for communicating."
You're too focussed on the way he's working you open with his fingers to bite back, and maybe he knows that.
His thumb reaches up to attack your clit the second you start moaning again, thus stripping you of any normal vocal ability. Your voice turns breathless and your moans become whines, and you're all too overwhelmed with how good he feels to think about being quiet.
If your noise is a problem, he doesn't say anything. In fact, he's leaving kisses all over your skin as he pushes his fingers in and out of you even faster, as if it is not gently pulling you apart limb by limb.
"Spencer," your voice cracks as he twists his hand, and the heel of his palm meets your clit, over and over again. "Oh."
You writhe, and this time he makes no effort to keep you still. He doesn't really need to. He has almost full autonomy over how far away from him you can get, with legs on either side of your body. You couldn't escape him even if you tried to.
His eyebrows pinch together when you clench around his hand, and he's back to kissing you, swallowing your louder than normal moan.
"Gonna cum," you whimper, brokenly, into his mouth.
He responds by picking up the pace of his fingers. Again.
He stops kissing you when your hips lift off the mattress to meet his, watching as your face twists and your lips part in a soundless moan, your orgasm wracking through you and making you look so beautiful.
He pumps his fingers in and out of you even when you slump back on the mattress. Waiting for your conscious to return, and you to beg him to stop.
Which takes longer than normal, for he is watching you roll your hips against his hand, seeking more from him. He happily complies, really, and you can distantly hear him laugh as you crack beneath him, every vein in your body pouring out onto the soft sheets.
You run warm, and you twist, and finally jerk your body away from him, mumbling an incoherent string of, "No. Mm-mm. Spence... ah, stop it."
"One more?" he asks, but you're shaking your head and still trying to get away from him, whining. "Okay, okay. I'm stopping. Shh, it's okay."
Your eyes flutter open once it's been a few moments of regaining control of your mind, and you catch your favourite part of any of this; the way he looks at you. You are the most perfect thing in the world to him when you've just came, and it's so easy to forget how complicated this all is when he's staring at you like you are a piece of artwork.
Once you're fully back, he gives you another kiss, and you melt once more, chasing his lips when he pulls away.
"Spencer," you grumble, and you can hear him huff a short laugh from his bathroom he's disappeared into.
"I'm not disappearing forever. Relax," he says, cloth between his hands.
The bed dips beneath his weight again as he hovers back over you, the damp fabric sliding up your legs as he wipes down every surface of your skin.
Sometimes this is your least favourite part. Forced to watch him erase any proof that he ever put his hands on you; that he ever loved you. Even physically.
And it means it's over. And once he finishes cleaning you up, you will have to put your clothes back onto your body, and walk out of his apartment like it means nothing to you the same it does for him.
"I'll call you when I'm free next week," he says.
"Okay," you say, quietly, biting the bullet and sitting up once he stands again. "I'll see you then, I guess."
"Get home safe. Text when you do?"
You feel ridiculous when your heart stutters in your chest. He does not care the way you want him to, and his words are always common courtesy. Never interest.
You force a smile. "I will."

if you love me, keep it to yourself | s.r.
[previously]
in which Spencer gifts you a necklace for your birthday and you begin to question why you continue to push him away
who? spencer reid x fem!reader category: angst (kinda flangsty) content warnings: blowing smoke part THREE, kissing, starcrossed lovers, spencer being interested in other girls, jealous!reader, maeve, reader has hair that covers her neck (?), circa s10, dancing, reader's birthday but the weather/time of year isn't mentioned word count: 2.24k a/n: i meant to post this earlier but i got distracted by animal crossing. my bad.
You shifted your feet again, wary of your heels slowly digging into the dirt behind Rossi’s house—mansion. You folded and unfolded your hands, waiting for something to happen while everyone’s attention was on you.
In true BAU fashion, they’d thrown you a birthday party despite you insisting that you didn’t want one, which left you in a party dress, sitting on the outdoor furniture and watching the way the stars glimmered this far away from the city. Exhaustion wore at you like waves, waiting for an acceptable time to abandon the festivities.
They surrounded you. All of your friends minus Kate, who had gone home early to spend time with Meg, and yet, it still felt like there was a piece of you missing. Something inside of you had been chiseled away with an ice pick, and the raw flesh stung with fresh hurt when Spencer stood in front of you.
“Do you want to dance?” He asked you softly, providing you with a false sense of protection from prying eyes. Spencer’s brown eyes glowed beneath the warm string of lights, studying your appearance as if it was the first time he’d seen you all night.
His hands were tucked into his pockets, and you wrapped your arms tightly around yourself, feeling cold despite the heated patio you were sitting on. “No one else is dancing, Spence,” you told him, watching as he took your rejection for what it was.
Spencer turned from you, walking along the path to the gazebo, minding the gaps between the stones as he hung his head. You watched him smooth his suit jacket as he looked up at the same sky that you’d been keeping an eye on, waiting for it to fall.
Someone cleared their throat beside you, and you glanced over to see Dave giving you a disappointed look. “Now,” he started, “I hope I’m not overstepping when I saw this, but if you keep holding him at arm’s length, eventually he’s going to walk the other way.”
You slid further down on the chair you were perched on. He was overstepping. Overstepping so far that his foot was going to slide off of the edge of the world. Part of you wondered if you were watching it happen right now, if Spencer was finally turning and walking away from you for good, but as you eyed him from the patio, he peeked over his shoulder, looking to see if you had moved to follow him.
That was your cue. Pushing yourself to your feet, you wrapped your shawl over your shoulders and followed the cobblestone path that would lead you to Spencer. Your heels tapped gently on the old stone until you halted at the entrance of the gazebo, holding a hand to the worn wood column to keep yourself steady. “Hey,” you greeted, an involuntary smile flying to your face when his head lifted at the sound of your voice.
“Happy birthday,” he whispered. Your proximity to the team was no longer a concern of yours, but the two of you still chose to speak in quiet truths. Using small voices sometimes seemed to quell the gravity of your situation. Two people in love who would never be able to find their way together.
You wanted to move on from stolen kisses in bars and tears shed in your apartment, but every time you looked at him, you were struck with the memory of years past. You thanked him, conscious of the tentative peace between you. His sleeves were pushed up to his elbows and his hair had grown considerably since the last time you stood opposite each other like this, but he was still Spencer.
His tie was crooked, and you put your hands behind your back as if to physically restrain yourself from fixing it for him. Besides, there was something about his crooked tie that made him undeniably Spencer—it was so endearing that it built a pit in your chest. “I got you something,” he spoke again, digging in his back pocket for something.
Your breath caught in your throat when he produced the dainty chain; a simple necklace dangled from his fingers and without giving it a second thought, you lifted your hand and took the chain from him. “It’s beautiful,” you murmured, wondering where Spencer acquired the skill of picking out jewelry.
“I don’t see any dancing,” Rossi heckled from the patio, and as if he was controlling you, the two of you took a step toward each other.
You were toe to toe; goosebumps spread across your skin while Spencer’s hand splayed across the small of your back. You set your free hand on his shoulder, the other one dedicated to clutching your new necklace as if your life depended on it. “We don’t have to dance,” he offered to you, still whispering as if Rossi had bugged the gazebo.
Shaking your head, your face warmed when someone turned the volume up and the rest of the team retreated to the indoors. “You like to dance,” you countered, swaying gently with the music.
Every bit of coordination that Spencer lacked with sports, he made up for with dancing. His mom taught him when he was a kid. At least, that’s what he’d told you years ago. “I know I do, but… I was really just looking for a reason to get you away from everyone so I could give you your gift.”
Squeezing his shoulder, you smiled despite yourself and shrugged, “I like dancing with you, Spence.” You wanted to slip something in about being a good friend, but you bit your tongue. He’d just given you a necklace, and you knew better than to push him away now.
The corner of his mouth quirked up in response, “We could dance all the time if you’d go out with me.”
Your steps faltered, you would’ve tripped over your own feet if Spencer wasn’t there, keeping you upright. “I thought we were past this,” you said after regaining your balance.
“I never will be,” he responded immediately. “Can I be honest?”
Furrowing your eyebrows, you looked up at him, “If you must.”
“When you told me ‘not right now’ in that bar last year, I didn’t anticipate it taking this long,” he told you, tilting his head to the side. “I don’t mind waiting for you, but part of me was worried that you forgot.”
“I remember,” you assured him. “I told you I’d let you know, and I will.”
Spencer laughed nervously, the gold glimmering in his irises under the faint lights of the gazebo, “You wouldn’t happen to have a timeline for me, would you?”
Your smile returned to your face; he pulled you closer to him with the flat of his palm on your back. “How was your date with that surveillance agent?” You spun the conversation around, acting as if you didn’t remember Dorian’s name. They’d gone out for coffee, and you recalled being in a particularly rotten mood that day.
He hummed thoughtfully, “I don’t think we’ll see each other again.”
“Oh,” you feigned surprise, “Why not?”
“She’s not you,” he answered easily, maintaining his façade that you were the only girl in the world—at least as far as he was concerned.
You rolled your eyes, “You’re going to have a hard time finding someone to go out with if that’s your prerequisite.” You tried to resist the flattery that his words brought to you. Your heart clenched at your brain’s outright refusal to accept him.
He shrugged, “I don’t want anyone else.”
Your feet stopped, pausing the dance, “Spencer…”
Spencer shook his head dismissively, “I’m tired of dancing around each other.”
Looking around, you spotted the bench in the gazebo. You nodded in the structure’s direction, “Did you want to sit down then?”
He glanced over his shoulder to the bench, “I was speaking figuratively.”
“Ah,” you breathed. “Well, how do you think we should move forward?” You let him lead you over to the bench, minding the way the curtains of the house moved—a sign that your friends were eavesdropping.
His eyes flickered down to your hand. Your fist was clenched around the necklace that he had gifted you. “You could start by wearing the necklace,” he proposed, taking your hand in his.
Spencer cradled your fist, peeling your fingers away from your palm one at a time before revealing the pendant. “Why don’t you put it on me?”
Plucking the chain from your hand, you turned away from him, lifting your hair from the back of your neck so he could have a clear view of the clasp. His fingertips touched your bare skin ever so slightly when he released the necklace.
You were so close. You were so close to calling everything off and telling him you were ready, but when you turned around and met his eyes, you saw it again. You looked into his eyes and saw the terror. The vague sense of haunting that had been there since the day Maeve died still bloomed in his irises.
You’re not sure why you spoke again, but he had given you something. You felt inclined to return the favor. “Do you know the first time I knew I was in love with you? I mean really knew that I was in love… It was the case right before Emily joined the BAU—the first time. There were two killers operating in St. Louis at the same time, and you had found their communication in the classifieds. It seems so insignificant looking back at it now, but there was something about the way you explained it to me. I realized it wasn’t just that I was impressed by your brain, but I was in love with you.”
He's silent for a long time, and you know why. You’ve never told him you loved him. There had never been a moment before this where you’d truly confessed your love for him, and yet, he knew it as surely as he knew his own name. “That was eight years ago,” he croaked, his voice suffocated by turmoil.
“I know,” you breathed. Your voice was so soft that you weren’t sure he’d hear you, but he did. Spencer always heard you.
He took a deep breath, looking at you frantically like he was waiting for you to take it back, “You never said anything.”
You nodded, “I know.”
“I—” he faltered over his feelings. “I wish you’d said something to me years ago. We’ve missed so much time together.” His words implied that there was a new sense of togetherness now. It wasn’t as easy as being in love with each other, you knew that.
Shaking your head, you dropped a hand to the bench you were sitting on, the wood soft with years of occupants. “I don’t know, Spencer,” you shrugged, tracing the woodgrain with your fingertips. “I’ve seen the other girls over the years. I never thought you’d be interested in reciprocating my feelings.”
He frowned, “Other girls?” His hand caught yours on the bench, enveloping your hand with his warm, nimble fingers.
“JJ, Lila, Austin, Maeve,” you listed, redirecting your focus to the ridges of his hand. You wanted to commit each crease and swirl to memory before he inevitably dropped your hand.
Surprise lit up his face, cocking his head to the side while he looked at you patiently, “None of them are you.”
She’s not you. None of them are you. His words echoed around the confines of your skull like a ping-pong ball. “You keep saying that like it means something.”
“It means everything to me,” he insisted. “You mean everything to me.”
His ice pick had returned, chiseling at your resolve like you were running out of time. “They’re just words,” you said desolately, the dainty chain around your neck applying pressure like shackles on your shoulders.
“Can I ask you a question?” As expected, he withdrew his hand from yours, leaving your palms empty, begging for more.
You hummed, bringing your hands back to your lap, “Like that’s ever stopped you before.”
Slowly, he slid off of the bench, kneeling in front of you while he took both of your hands in yours. “You’ve built your walls up so high, how do you know if you’re protected or imprisoned?”
Freezing, you gave yourself a moment to process his words before you tilted your head down in shame, “I’m not entirely sure anymore.” Your confession came as a surprise to both of you. You swallowed thickly, leaning over to be closer to him, “but I think I’d like you to kiss me again.”
Not needing to be told twice, Spencer craned his head forward and pressed his lips to yours. He rose to his feet, cradling your cheeks, he held you like water in his hands. He kissed you and it was just as sweet as it had been the first time, pulling away slightly, he whispered I love you against your lips.
That was all it took for you to drag yourself away from him. Three words that you’d waited a decade for, and all you could get yourself to say was, “It’s okay.”
“Is it?” He asked breathlessly.
Frantically, you stood up and smoothed out your dress. “It will be,” you offered. You headed back to the house, leaving Spencer—and your heart—behind.

in my dream, i'm fixing your crutch
most nights, spencer wakes to the sound of your sniffles—unlike most nights, he doesn’t have to ask why. the reason is visceral, tangible—staining the sheets when the wound dressing wasn’t tight enough, seeping and pooling right between the both of you where an ocean of your guilt already lies.
pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader (second person, no y/n)
genre: flangst hurt comfort
content: many mentions of wounds and blood. bc spencer was shot. jesus reid woo! established relationship spencer and bau!reader deal with the aftermath of spencer taking a bullet for her
word count: 2.8k
note: based on this ask! for my jesus reid sassy man apocalypse flangst fight and make up lovers... this ones for you! i actually loved writing this sm @esote-rika u wonderful genius u!!! inspired by this poem that she sent me! might be one of my new favorite fics ive written
a line: In the bad dreams, over and over, you’re saying you’re sorry. In the worst dreams, he’s saying he forgives you.
“I’m sorry.”
Those were the first words out of your mouth when Spencer had woken up in the hospital. Before that, you'd been running on adrenaline, too focused on talking the unsub down. So certain—so sure—that he wouldn’t pull the trigger. That you’d be fine. That the father would be fine. And you were, mostly.
Because a hard shove sent you both tumbling to the ground. No broken bones, no bloody wounds—Just a bullet in Spencer’s leg instead of yours.
He held your hand through the tears, fingers gentle as they stroked through your hair while you wept against the edge of his hospital bed. Told you I’d take a bullet for you, honey. Spencer always joked about that. Romantic once—now, not so much. It is not an honour you ever wanted to hold.
Crutches for a month. You’d been right there when the doctor ordered it, nodding, asking questions, voicing concerns. The two of you make do, as you always do. You move into his place, helping him with the little things. Because loving someone means loving them in health and in sickness. During the good times and the bad. Two sides of the same coin—But intimacy wears many faces.
You don’t think you’ve stopped crying since you saw the blood soaking into the grass.
You try to smile more when Spencer’s around. He says it helps—just as much as the medication, maybe more. So you do. More cuddles than usual. Coffee, just the way he wants it, because come on, the man took a bullet for you, the least you could do is not criticise his sugar intake.
But when he’s not there, the tears come. In the shower, where the water washes them away before you can. Waiting for the coffee to brew, blinking them back so they don’t salt the mug.
You whisper I’m sorrys into his hair when he falls asleep after the Doctor Who reruns, as many as he wants. Hope he feels it in the way your fingers card through his curls, lathering shampoo carefully. Hope he tastes it in the spoonfuls of breakfast you lift to his lips, even though his hands work just fine. Everything served in bed, of course, because that’s where he is.
Because that is where he has to be.
I’m sorry. You don’t think you’ll ever stop saying it.
Still, every night he does wake, he cups your cheeks with warm hands as he murmurs it’s okays.
He’ll say it again at 2 am, when he’s inevitably forced to rewind the bandage himself because somehow, you never seem to get it right. Another tally mark on the growing list of ways you’ve failed him.
And again at 4 am, when you shift too close in your sleep, bump against him, and wake to a sharp, stifled wince. Then the tears resurface, and the cycle repeats. God, you’re just a walking Murphy’s Law, aren’t you?
“Do you blame me?” you’d asked him one night, voice meek in the dark.
“You were in danger. I acted. I could never blame you.”
You replay that conversation more often than not. You love Spencer enough to believe that he means it—that in his mind, it’s the only truth that exists. The only truth that could ever exist.
But you don’t think you love yourself enough to believe it, too.
You move to the couch after the first week. Couldn’t take another night of accidental touches, of hearing his breath hitch in pain and feeling—remembering— that you’d put him there. Spencer had protested, threatened to order an air mattress just to sleep beside you, but you’d won in the end. He needed space. Comfort. Proper rest to heal.
Mostly, you just didn’t want him to see you crying anymore.
The couch isn’t so bad. Smells just enough like him to let it lull you to sleep. Has pillows that are fluffy enough to clutch in your grip when he insists on showering alone for the first time. The couch is close enough to hear the bottle of shampoo hit the floor and the pause that follows when you both realise he can’t bend down to pick it up himself. It’s also far enough away that you hear only the muffled curses that escape him when he tries to dress himself after—Spencer hardly ever swears.
And again, the couch is far enough away that he can’t see you cry.
Intimacy is familiarity, carved deep.
It is not synonymous with love, nor does it innately mean romance. It is a vulnerability between two people, a connection that forms through time, a trust that builds upon circumstance. Intimacy is a blade that cuts through flesh and bone, never to be used lightly. It sees everything—what you are, what he is, what the two of you have always been.
It’s the chaste kiss you press to his lips before leaving for the jet, van waiting down in the lobby. The long list of instructions, medications, emergency contacts scribbled onto paper—handed off to Garcia. The unanswered calls that drain your battery, each one landing in his voicemail.
When you’re away, you dream of Spencer. You’re steadying his crutch, rewrapping his wounds, pressing gentle kisses over healing scars.
In the bad dreams, over and over, you’re saying you’re sorry.
In the worst dreams, he’s saying he forgives you.
Intimacy is something etched into the marrow of you, amidst the flesh and bone, through the ache and the aftermath.
“Spence?” you call from the doorway, one hand braced against the wall as you toe off your shoes. “You in here? Garcia said you decided to head home.”
A muffled shuffle from his office draws your attention. When you step inside, you find him perched in his desk chair, one hand gripping his crutch, the other stretched toward a book just out of his reach on the bottom shelf.
“I didn’t decide to head home,” Spencer mutters, still not looking at you. “Garcia sent me home.”
You have to bite back a smile. “Garcia sent you home?” you echo, amused, crossing the room to retrieve the book from the shelf with ease. He returns your kind act with a heavy sigh even as you set the book on the table beside him.
“She was rearranging her case files. Said I was in the way.”
“Aw honey,” you coo, reaching out to fluff his curls. Normally, he’d lean into your touch, eyes going all soft with adoring affection. But tonight, there’s nothing. Your hand falls away, neglected.
“Have you eaten?” you try, hoping hunger is to blame for his mood. He barely acknowledges the question, offering only a curt nod.
“What’d you have?”
“One of those instant meals,” he mutters.
You frown. “I thought you hated that stuff.”
Spencer scoffs, shaking his head. “Yeah, well, it’s not like I’m in any position to cook now, am I?”
The window is shut but the study is ice cold. You knew he was upset when Hotch forbade him from coming along on the case. He had told you just as much, his frustrations only thinly veiled in the few text messages he’d sent. But whatever this is, you don’t understand why it’s suddenly being directed at you tonight.
“Did something happen while I was away?”
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing.” The sarcasm that drips in his tone pools together at your feet.
Most people work to live. Your boyfriend is not most people. He lives to work. The time he doesn’t spend solving cases is spent preparing for the next one—reading, researching, gathering knowledge for the inevitable moment it might be needed. You of all people know he hates being unoccupied. He’d explained it to you once, how much he detests idleness, the feeling of time slipping through his fingers with nothing to show for it.
And now here he is, sidelined. Left behind—with nobody else to point the finger at but you.
Not Garcia for shoo-ing him out of her Batcave. Not Hotch for being a stickler for the doctor’s orders. Just you.
“Is that it? You’re upset because Hotch didn’t let you come on the case?”
Spencer doesn't answer so you’re the one to take a step forward—both physically and metaphorically.
“Spence, talk to me. What’s gotten into you?”
The laugh that leaves Spencer doesn’t really sound like him at all. It comes out sharp and humourless—Empty, essentially.
“What’s gotten into me?” He exhales, shakes his head. “You mean other than a bullet?”
The breath you were holding slips from your lips, and for a moment, it feels like the bullet never left. It might as well have buried itself hilt deep, slicing through you and back out. Right now, you almost wished that were the case.
A bullet in your boyfriend is not a cross you ever wanted to bear but it is a cross you’re tied to carrying all the same.
Maybe it had been easier in the beginning. In the holding of hands in the ambulance, in the moving of mugs to accommodate yours. But in the wake of skin and gauze, of antiseptic burning raw and sheets gripped in clenched fists—What is there to thank god for?
Just a bullet.
Just a wound.
Just a bed too small to carry the hurt of two people.
“Spencer.”
For a man with a limp, he moves fast. The bedroom door slams shut behind him and you’re left to stand there by yourself, guilt seeping into the floorboards under you. Thank god for the couch.
You don’t dream of Spencer tonight. You don’t sleep at all. Which is why you hear it—the crutch slipping, the clattering against the wood of the floor. You tiptoe to the bedroom door, nudging it open.
“Hey, everything alright? Need your meds? Water? I can get—”
“S'fine,” Spencer says. His sigh is as heavy as it is exhausted as he bends down to retrieve his crutch.
“Oh. Okay…” You hesitate, lingering by the door. “Goodnight then.”
“Sweetheart—” Spencer exhales, soft and uneven. “I—I… wanted to talk.”
You swallow. “Talk?”
“What I did—how I acted just now—that wasn’t okay. And I’m sorry.”
It sounds weird coming from him. Wrong, almost. A man who took a bullet for you shouldn’t be apologising. A thousand sorrys from you wouldn’t even come close to enough, and you’re certain you’ve already said more than that.
“You don’t need to apologise, Spence, you—”
“I do.”
He tries to stand. You’re at his side before he can, pressing him back down with a gentle hand against his shoulder as you take a seat by the edge of the bed too.
“I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that. I was frustrated. At Hotch, at Garcia, at myself. And I took it out on you.”
You nod silently, trying to understand.
“I’m not used to this,” he admits. “Being taken care of. Needing to be taken care of. It’s... hard. What I said before I left the room… I shouldn’t have. And I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve that.”
Spencer isn’t one to dance around words. He thrives on specifics. Tonight, he doesn’t need to name it.
What’s gotten into me? You mean other than a bullet? The words have been reverberating in your skull since he said it.
“Do you—” Your voice sounds hollow in your throat, shaking as it leaves you. “Can you forgive me?”
Spencer’s seen you cry before. But the sight of you wiping away your own tears is not one he’s is used to. He’s used to holding you through it, with soft hands, with light kisses. So, he takes your hand first, then coaxes your gaze up to meet his. It’s the first time you’ve seen him smile since you’ve gotten back.
“Angel,” he breathes, “there’s nothing to forgive. I don’t blame you. For any of it. Do you remember what I said the first time?”
“I—yeah.”
“You were in danger. I acted. Simple as that.”
In theory, it is simple. Bullets move at roughly 2,700 feet per second. To reach you first, Spencer must have moved at 2,701.
It is not a lifetime of love of reflected in a single split second. It is a lifetime of love refracted, redirected—Love forced onto a different path the moment the bullet entered his body. Two sides of the same coin, wild violence amidst the intimacy. You see it day after day in the blood that trickles down his leg, in how his skin splits open in millimetres, in the way his body punishes itself for what his heart decided.
It is agonising to see how softly he hurts.
“I just—I’m so sorry, Spence. For this. For everything.”
“Honey,” he murmurs, “do you trust me?”
Your head jerks up. You sit straighter, wiping at your nose with the sleeve of your sweater. “Yeah, of course, Spence, I—”
“Then I need you to believe me when I say this.” He shifts, taking both your hands into his. He winces slightly but doesn’t let it stop him. “This? This isn’t your fault. Not at all. I need you to know that, baby. Okay?”
You’ve never been one to hold back or stay quiet during arguments with Spencer. Especially when he’s the first to admit he’s wrong—And, being Spencer, that hardly ever happens. More than you’d like to admit, he’s usually right. But this is different.
Because Spencer is wrong. He shouldn’t have said it. But “shouldn’t” doesn’t make it untrue.
Spencer was shot. Fact.
You weren’t. Fact.
And you weren’t shot because Spencer took the bullet for you.
Fact upon fact, stacking too tall, pressing down hard, choking you out.
“But it is though,” you whisper, though it comes out as more of a cry. “Spence, if it weren’t for me—”
“Honey, there is no version of events where I would’ve ever let that bullet touch you.” He gives your hands a light squeeze. “None.”
There is an intimacy in knowing love, at its core, is a kind of violence. It is a body rashly moved by instinct before the mind catches up. It is the sacrifice of flesh before the heart has even finished deciding, of stepping into the line of fire before you’ve even realised that you’ve moved.
With his heart, mind and body—That is how violently Spencer Reid loves you.
Spencer has always been fast. Faster than the bullet meant for you. Fast to love, quicker to comfort—He presses a kiss to your cheek where the last tear falls. “I mean it when I say that there is nothing you could’ve done, or Hotch could’ve done, or the Unsub could’ve done that wouldn’t have resulted in me taking the bullet for you.”
“Well,” you start, voice still sniffly from the remnants of your tears, “the unsub could’ve just... not shot.”
Spencer blinks. For a second, he’s still caught in the weight of his emotions. Then, his lips twitch, a knowing smile breaking through as he rolls his eyes.
“Smartass.”
A small giggle bubbles out of you. You lift your joined hands to press light kisses into the spaces between his fingers, into the cracks of him that you can reach. He lets you. Spencer doesn’t remember the last time you touched him like this—Not careful, not afraid. Not like guilt kissed your fingertips before they ever touched his skin.
“Baby,” he mumbles.
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Spence.”
For the first time in weeks, you’re looking at him the way you always have. Not like a martyr you never asked for, carrying the weight of a sacrifice you never wanted him to make.
For the first time in weeks, you’re looking at him like it’s just him, and it’s just you.
No bullet. No blood. Just him. Just you.
“Will you sleep in here tonight?”
You freeze. He feels it immediately.
“Spence, I—I don’t know, I don’t want to hurt—” you murmur, blinking down at your interlocked fingers.
“You won’t,” he’s quick to reassure. “I just want you next to me. The sheets don’t smell like you anymore and I never sleep well without you. I wake up, and you’re out there, and it feels wrong. I just want to hold you. Please? It’s been days.”
You’re helpless when he speaks like that. Besides, the man took a bullet for you—how could you ever say no to him again, for as long as you live?
So you nod, shifting closer, barely hesitating before crawling into bed beside him. After some readjusting, you hear Spencer exhale, feel his arm curling around you, slotting you against his side like muscle memory. For the first time in days, you let yourself be held.
His lips brush your skin as he whispers, “thank you.”

hiiii mae if you’re up for it would you pretty please write spencer and intern reader when she gets hurt? holding her hand while she gets patched up or comforting her when she’s concussed or something of the like. i love your writing so much xoxoxo
Thank you for requesting <3
cw: blood, concussion, vague mention of a murder case but it's really just background
Spencer Reid x intern!reader ♡ 946 words
“Look this way, please.”
When you don’t move, Spencer gives your shoulder a kind squeeze. “Hey. Can you look over there?”
You turn your face from Spencer’s jacket, and the paramedic gives you a kind smile. She knows you weren’t ignoring her; you only hadn’t been paying attention. “Follow my finger,” she tells you.
Spencer watches as you do, her pen light gliding over your bloody face. There are tear tracks diluting the red.
Staying with witnesses is supposed to be a safe part of the job. That’s why Hotch assigned it to you. But when Morgan walked the handcuffed unsub through the station, one victim’s husband lost it completely, and when you got into his warpath he shoved you so hard Spencer heard your head knock against the precinct’s tile floor. Blood puddled around your left temple before anyone could even make it to you.
You started crying nearly as soon as you woke up. It was more than understandable, given the blood all around you and the confusion you must have been feeling after a head injury like that, but what scared the team was when you wouldn’t stop. JJ tried talking to you, even Morgan softened his teasing and offered you a hug, but to everyone’s surprise all you wanted was Spencer. You calmed some once he sat down in front of you. Tears still dribbled from your chin, but you didn’t seem quite so distraught, and you let the paramedics look at you so long as Spencer stayed. Eventually he wound up in the back of an ambulance, an arm around your shoulders while you sniffled miserably into his windbreaker and a paramedic applied butterfly bandages to the cut on your head.
Your eyes water as the paramedic clicks off her pen light and begins asking you questions. It takes a few moments for your gaze to settle on her.
“It’s…it’s Wednesday.” You turn to Spencer. “Is it Wednesday?”
His heart throbs at the vulnerability in your tone. “Focus on her,” he says, softening the directive with a stroke of his thumb over your shoulder.
You turn back to the paramedic, answering her questions with varying degrees of uncertainty. Your fingers curl in the material of Spencer’s jacket. He has the urge to tuck your head underneath his chin.
The paramedic informs you (or informs Spencer, really, you’re not paying much attention) that they’re going to take you to the hospital for a CT scan. They’ll let him ride there with you if he wants to. Spencer says yes without a thought.
While she goes to pack up her supplies, he takes your fingers and unbunches them, warming your palm between his.
“How are you feeling?” he asks you.
You make a soft, stymied sound, bringing the unhurt side of your head to Spencer’s shoulder for a rest. “I don’t like this.”
Spencer doesn’t need to ask which part you mean. He imagines none of it is pleasant. The light and sound of an ambulance in general has to be torment for your head.
“Try closing your eyes,” he suggests.
“I’m worried that will make me dizzier.”
“Do you feel sick?”
“Not really.”
“Just try. It helped last time.”
You sigh but do. You turn your head so your forehead is pressing into the bump of his shoulder, and Spencer reaches up to stop you before you can get close to rubbing against the bandages keeping your cut closed.
Your voice is a watery consistency. “I really don’t feel right.”
Spencer feels a painful tug in his middle. “I know. I’m sure it’s scary, but it won’t be forever. We’re going to the hospital, and the doctors are going to make sure you’re okay.”
“I just don’t like this.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Spencer?”
“Hm?”
“I really feel like I messed things up.”
He has to remind himself not to move. In his surprise, his instinct is to pull back, to search your face for answers, but you’re pointed where he can’t see you with your voice trailing down his arm.
“You didn’t. What makes you think that?”
“It just…it feels like…”
The words take a while to come. Spencer forces himself to set aside his curiosity.
“It’s okay,” he says gently. “You don’t have to think about that right now. Just rest. You didn’t mess anything up.”
“It feels like I’m…” you forge on, determined. “I’m always either not helping or in the way.”
Again, Spencer’s first thought is to ask what you mean by that. But he doesn’t want to force you to overexercise your injured brain, so he tries to go along without elaboration. He fills in the gaps.
“You’ve never been in the way,” he assures you, meaning it. “And you help us a lot. We wouldn’t be nearly as efficient without you, especially on this last case.”
“I’m just an intern.”
“Exactly. So it’s even more impressive how valuable you’ve been to our team.”
You’re quiet for a few moments. Spencer starts rubbing slow circles into your shoulder with his thumb. Your forehead warms his arm through the jacket.
“Thank you for staying with me. You’re always so nice.”
“It’s no problem. I like hanging out with you.”
“I don’t feel very well.”
“Are your eyes still closed?”
A pause. “Were they supposed to be closed?”
Spencer smiles at the top of your head. Even confused as you are, there’s a familiar note of inquisitiveness to your tone. Like all you ever really want is to be sure you’re doing the right thing. Spencer is warmed that you trust him to tell you what that is.
“Try closing them.”
“Oh. This is better, thank you.”
“It’s no problem.”

Professor!Spencer Reid x reader
“De-stress”
warnings: smut, fingering, student teacher relationship(reader is 20), soft dom!spencer,
wc:1.1k

From the moment you laid eyes on him you couldn't help but be attracted to him. I mean look at him. He's extremely hot and really intelligent, a girl's weakness.
And of course you acted in these feelings of yours you have. Studying extra hard for his tests, doing anything you can for extra credit to impress him.
And Spencer noticed these things.
He knew it was wrong whatever this relationship is. He's your professor for christ sake, he shouldn't be doing these...activities with a student, let alone his student. But he couldn't stay away from you. Watching the way you bat your eyelashes at him as you leave the classroom. Which ends up with you bent over his desk. As risky as it is, he can't help but get a thrill from it all.
However the office meetings moved to his place meetings, drinking a glass of wine before you end up a moaning mess on his couch. Getting fucked senseless by your professor wasn’t something you thought would be happening but here you are.
And he’s good at it too. He’s had some prior experience which does help thanks to his age, a perk of ‘dating’ an older man. He’s also really sweet, of course he can’t take you on proper dates but he still tries his best with little gifts and great movie nights. Even if he does complain about the things being unrealistic in the movies. He still tries for you. Because he does genuinely care about you.
You were never late handing in assignments wanting to impress him. And the fact that having in stuff makes you feel like you’ve let him down. It’s nog a great feeling to let your boyfriend, or not boyfriend, whatever he is down.
But today you had missed it, so stressed out about everything else you forgot to make time for it.
You arrive at Spencer's apartment after pre warning him you were coming. You just needed to see him, even with the lack of assignment.
“I did notice the lack of paper on my desk today y/n.” The words fall from Spencer’s mouth easily as he doesn’t even look up from the other papers on his coffee table. Flicking through what should’ve been yours.
“I know I know. I’m sorry I’ve just had so much going on it completely slipped my mind.”
Spencer looks up and raises an eyebrow. It wasn’t like you to just ‘forget’. Hell you remember all the embarrassing things he’s said in class so him believing you just ‘forgot’ is not going to happen.
“What’s going on?” He immediately asks before you can even say any more of an excuse. Eyes scanning over your features to pick up on any signs. Usually he’s good at it, picking up a slight change in your demeanour and knowing something’s up immediately. But apparently this time he’s missed it.
You sigh before just taking a deep breath.
“I’m just stressed. I had so much going on this week. I’m sorry.”
Spencer doesn’t even say anything, switching from teacher mode to ‘boyfriend’ mode. He knows you need him, not to be scolded by professor Reid.
He gently pats his lap, indicating for you to take a seat on it. Which you happily do. Sighing as his arms snake around your waist and as your back touches his chest.
Spencer’s lips gently attach to your neck, knowing his touch can make you feel better.
“It’s okay sweetheart.” His hand intertwines with yours. He wants to show you love, too show you care. Not to ridicule you for some assignment he couldn’t give less of a shit about right now. “You wanna talk about it?”
You shake your head as you allow him to keep kissing that sweet spot he knows you like. With his slow kissing and free hand running over your thigh you can probably guess what he’s thinking about. Thinking about helping you relax of course.
“Can I help you out then?” He says as he turns your chin to make you look at him. Eyes scanning yours for any sign you’re uncomfortable or that you don’t want it. He always checks this is what you want. That he’s not being some pushy man making a young girl feel pressured to sleeping with him or whatever the activity is.
You nod slowly as you keep looking at him.
“Words honey.” Another one of his consent rules.
“Yes, please help me de-stress.” As soon as the words slip from your lips he smiles softly, hand running your thigh while the other one brings your cheek closer. His lips softly press against yours, pulling you closer in his lap.
His fingers each down to the zipper of your jeans. With one final check with you he begins to unzip. He’s not wasting any time here. He knows he can make you feel good, you’ve told him enough times.
“Lay down for me sweetheart.” At his request you immediately move, laying down on the sofa beneath him. Spencer softly sighs at the sight. looking at you beneath him is one of the best sights.
A small wet patch in your panties is apparent when he pulls down your jeans, you helping him out by lifting up your hips.
His hand slowly reaches where you’re practically craving him at this point. Fingers slowly rubbing you through your panties as he looks at you. He knows he’s got to be nice and do none of his usual antics of teasing and what not. So he pulls down your panties, discarding them somewhere in the room.
This whole moment is of course sensual but loving. The way he’s being so slow with you is different compared to other times you’ve been naked on his couch.
His fingers slowly start to rub your clit. He captures your moans with his mouth as he kisses you. You both kiss slowly and passionately as his finger moves down front your clit and into your cunt. Like everything else of this experience he goes slowly making you a whimpering mess like always.
“You’re such a good girl.” His words of praise make you relax more, he really does know what he’s doing. He’s a genius after all. “Good girl who’s taking my fingers so well.”
He places a kiss on your cheek before speeding up his movements. He knows you’re not gonna last long. Especially not now he’s added his thumb to your clit, applying pressure right where you need it.
You moan as you grip his bicep, the familiar feeling building up as he keeps going.
“I want you to cum on my fingers sweetheart.” His pet names make your heart race as you close your eyes. This is definitely one way to get your mind off of things.
It’s not long before you cum on his fingers. Moaning and whimpering as your grip tightens on his bicep.
He places a soft sweet kiss on your forehead and looks down at you with admiration in his eyes. He really does love you.
a/n: not proof read and will be writing a more feral spender reid soon😋

SPENCER REID.ᐟ

a little list of my favorite stories ୨ৎ remember to be kind, reblog, and support the wonderful authors who share their magic with us.ᐟ
NOTE ಇ. none of these stories belong to me ♡ if you’d like your fic removed, just send me a message, and i’ll take care of it!
puzzling by @pathologicalreid
⁀➴༯ trying to tell Spencer you're pregnant, but he's too concerned with your well-being to fill out your custom crossword puzzle
REVIEW ୨ৎ omg this??? this is the softest, sweetest thing ever. like. the crossword puzzle reveal???? genius. i loved the idea! spencer being all worried and clueless and then putting it together in the middle of the night like the nerdy genius he is??? perfect. the teasing. the love. the domesticeness (not even a word ugh). i adored it; lost it in a stupid tumblr refresh but so happy i found it again
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
be so stupid by @mariasont
⁀➴༯ you make a mistake while on a case nearly getting spencer killed, morgan has some choice words and spencer is ready to beat his ass over it
REVIEW ୨ৎ ohhh this is so good. the way you showed all the feelings she was going through?? the way spencer is just so soft but also ready to throw hands for her?? perfection. i was grinning when he stormed off to confront morgan like yes king defend your girl!! and that last part?? the heartbeat moment?? actually kicking my feet. this was everything. thought about this so many times after reading it
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
sparks fly by @avis-writeshq
⁀➴༯ "drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain."/"kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain." The first time you meet Spencer Reid, you swore that you could feel the sparks fly. You figured that it would be unreasonable to ever consider him to be anything more than a friend, and in a moment of selflessness you tell yourself that you are perfectly fine in that position. As time goes on, the line between romantic and platonic love begins to blur indefinitely. But it would be ridiculous to think that the resident genius would feel anything for you... right?
REVIEW ୨ৎ omg this is literally the best spencer series! avis you broke my heart, healed it, broke it again, healed....so many times. i still remember reading this when i was a ghost reader and just absolutely falling in love with it. i think this is how i found your acc and we became mutuals ♡ but yes, forever one of the series i will find comfort it. it feels like home
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
was i stupid to love you? by @incognit0slut
⁀➴༯ in which a lingering glance at rossi’s wedding threatens your engagement
REVIEW ୨ৎ oh this fic changed me. actually ruined my life a little bit. like i finished it and just sat there. staring. hollow inside. do you know what it’s like to have your heart ripped out and handed back to you in pieces??? because i do now. this was beautiful and painful and i will never recover. thanks
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
devoted by @gf2bellamy
⁀➴༯ spencer sees you talking to a guy and he's jealous. what he doesn't know is that you're talking about him
REVIEW ୨ৎ this made my heart hurt in the best way. like. the kind of hurt where you just sit there staring at the screen after finishing, trying to process your emotions. the jealousy? the soft, sleepy confessions??? i am unwell. spencer being all worried but then melting when he realizes you were talking about him the whole time???? this fic grabbed me by the heart and did not let go. i need to lie down
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
caught by @/gf2bellamy
⁀➴༯ hotch gives you a call to inform you that you have a case and to bring spencer. the problem? you haven't announced your relationship to anyone yet
REVIEW ୨ৎ oh my god. omg. this was going so soft and then suddenly oh shit. like one second it’s all warm and cozy and then bam spencer’s brain turns on and ruins everything. the way they both just freeze when they realize hotch knows??? yeah. i laughed. and spencer just casually calculating the exact time they can be late without dying??? he’s insane i love him. this was so cute i’m kicking my feet but also stressed. perfect
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
mistake by @/gf2bellamy
⁀➴༯ spencer overhears you and derek talking and he misunderstands your conversation, causing him to distance himself from you
REVIEW ୨ৎ this hurt so bad. like spencer just pulling away and you not knowing why??? and then when he finally realizes he was wrong??? the angst. the ache. i wanted to shake him and hug him at the same time. 10/10 i am in pain
lucky by @reidmarieprentiss
⁀➴༯ you encourage penelope to go on a date, which ends in tragedy. this event shakes the team, leading to conflict, particularly between you and spencer, who blames her for what happened
REVIEW ୨ৎ this fic ruined me. like actually left me gasping for air, clutching my blanket, tears streaming down my face. i went in thinking i was just gonna read a little angst, maybe feel a little sad—but no no no. this was emotional devastation. the kind that settles in your chest and refuses to leave. the writing?? too good. the pain?? unbearable. i had to put my phone down multiple times just to remind myself they're gonna be happy at the end. and the worst part?? i’d read it again. immediately. because apparently, i like to suffer
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
not her by @/reidmarieprentiss
⁀➴༯ you can't figure out why spencer doesn't like you, spencer doesn't know how to tell you it's not your fault
REVIEW ୨ৎ this fic tortured me so much. like i was just begging them to talk to each other. the misunderstandings?? unbearable. and then the forced proximity??? thanks to rossi for that—but i was suffering in real time. the slow, aching realization that they it's not her fault but your stupid sister's??? i actually think i forgot to breathe at one point. i yearn for this kind of angst only
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
lost & found by @/reidmarieprentiss
⁀➴༯ you suffer memory loss after an accident, only remembering your sister, emily, and not your boyfriend, spencer
REVIEW ୨ৎ oh. oh this hurt. like actually physically hurt. but then also like healed me. the way spencer was right there and you didn’t remember him??? and emily being the only one you remembered??? yeah i was gone and came back to life and god said it was the best thing ever. and then slowly falling in love with him again, piece by piece, like your heart already knew him even if your mind didn’t?? yeah. i’m crying. actually sobbing. this rewired my brain chemistry
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
emergency contact by @vanteguccir
⁀➴༯ where y/n is between life and death during a case, and the team needs to call her emergency contact, but she doesn't have one. not until now
REVIEW ୨ৎ oh this one hurt. like actually physically hurt. the moment they realized she didn’t have an emergency contact?? and spencer just knew he had to be the one?? yeah. that ruined me. but omg the confessions and the fluffiness at the end??? i need to go stare at a wall
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
misunderstanding by @luveline
⁀➴༯ bombshell reader and spencer where there is a misunderstanding and she thinks he is cheating on her
REVIEW ୨ৎ this, jade??? this was so much. like. the panic. the way hotch is just there exactly how a friend should be. spencer being all clueless and sweet and making it so obvious he’d never do that to her??? devastating in the best way. the hug. the reassurance. the later because spencer gets it??? he understands that she needs time. yeah. this one is staying with me
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ୨ৎㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
selfish by @appocalipse
⁀➴༯ someone sends you flowers at work. spencer hates it more than he likes to admit
REVIEW ୨ৎ this was absolutely beautiful, amy, oh my god. the tension, the unspoken feelings, the way they both know but dance around it—ugh, perfection. spencer knowing her favorite flowers?? the selfish line?? my heart physically ached. and that kiss?? so soft, i could cry. i’m in love with this

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤI WANNA GET MARRIED * SPENCER REID
SUMMARY :: Where after JJ's wedding, a new certainty is born in Spencer regarding his relationship with Y/N.
FEATURING Spencer Reid x reader REQUESTED? no.
WARNINGS :: fluffy fluff.
AUTHOR'S NOTE :: that is my work, I DON'T authorize any form of plagiarism; copy, "inspiration" or translation! | english isn't my first language, so I'm sorry if there's any grammar error.
The hum of the television filled the dimly lit apartment, casting soft, flickering shadows against the walls. Y/N curled closer against Spencer, her body nearly molding into his as they lay sprawled across the green couch, tangled together like they had been built that way.
The warmth of his chest radiated through the thin fabric of his t-shirt, soothing, steady, safe. Her leg was crooked up, knee brushing against his hip, while her hand slipped beneath his shirt, fingers splayed across his ribs, tracing lazy patterns over the soft skin there.
Spencer’s arm rested heavily around her, one hand tangled in her hair, his fingertips running slow, absentminded strokes against her scalp. It was a ritual by now - this, them, the comfort of each other's touch as they watched Solaris (1972) for what had to be the tenth time. The dialogue was familiar, predictable, and yet, tonight, something felt off.
Spencer wasn’t making his usual comments. He wasn’t explaining the philosophical subtext of the film or discussing Tarkovsky’s use of long takes. He was just... quiet.
Her gaze flickered up briefly, but his was still fixed on the screen, his expression unreadable, lost in thoughts she couldn’t reach. Her brows furrowed slightly, but she didn’t move, didn’t break the quiet just yet. She let a few more seconds tick by, let another scene play out on the screen, before finally murmuring, almost absentmindedly.
"You’ve been off... Since the wedding."
Spencer’s fingers stilled against her hair for just a beat - barely a second - before they resumed their slow, rhythmic movement. His chest expanded beneath her palm as he inhaled deeply, his other hand shifting, sliding down her back, fingertips catching the fabric of her - his - oversized CalTech t-shirt and rucking it up slightly to trace against the warm skin below.
"Yeah." He exhaled, his voice quiet, weighty
Y/N let her eyes flutter shut at the feeling, but she wasn’t letting this go. Not with him. Not now.
"Talk to me, Spence."
Spencer’s jaw tensed slightly, his gaze remaining forward, as if watching the film would make it easier. As if keeping his eyes on something else would make it less real.
He sighed again, deep, before finally answering.
"Just... realized some things, I guess." His tone was too casual. Forced.
Y/N didn’t buy it for a second. She knew him, knew every little shift in his voice, every deflection. And she wasn’t going to let him retreat into himself. Not when she'd come this far in making him feel safe enough in her presence to open up about anything.
"What things?" She asked, still in a whisper, still soft, but unwavering.
She felt the breath he took before he spoke. It was a slow inhale, like he was gathering himself.
Then, out of nowhere-
"I want to get married."
The words sat between them, heavy and unfiltered. And for the first time in days, Spencer didn’t feel the weight of them pressing against his chest. Instead, he felt relief. Like finally speaking it into existence had made the storm in his mind settle, if only just.
Y/N made a small sound, something soft and curious, shifting against him slightly.
This was new. Definitely new.
"In general?"
Spencer shook his head immediately.
"To you."
A puff of air fanned against his collar, and for the first time since the conversation started, he finally tore his eyes away from the screen, tilting his head to look down at her. His eyebrows creased, trying to read the expression on her face, trying to gauge what she was thinking. But for once, he couldn’t.
And that terrified him.
"Honey?" He called, voice quieter now, unsure.
Y/N blinked up at him, her grip tightening slightly where her fingers rested against his ribs before she finally spoke, voice just as quiet, just as steady.
"You know... we kind of already are."
Spencer let out a confused hum, tilting his head slightly, and Y/N smiled, small and knowing.
"Married."
Spencer rolled his eyes, immediately trying to pull back - like a child -, but her hands didn’t let him.
"I’m serious, Y/N."
"I am, too!"
She was quick to defend herself, shifting so her head was level with his, her nose nearly brushing his as her free hand rose, fingers soft as they brushed through the strands of his hair, pushing them away from his eyes before trailing down, featherlight against his cheekbone, then resting just above his jaw.
His lips parted slightly when her thumb tugged gently at the corner of his mouth, his breath hitching just the slightest before she murmured.
"I would."
Spencer’s brows furrowed, his usually more than fast brain catching up a second too late.
"What?"
Y/N’s lips twitched, the corners of her mouth tilting into the softest, sweetest smile as she clarified.
"Marry you."
Something warm and blinding spread through Spencer’s chest so fast it nearly knocked the breath from his lungs. Hope surged up like a tide, crashing over him before he could even think to brace himself.
"Yeah?" He breathed, voice quiet, almost like he didn’t believe it.
Y/N nodded easily, fingers tapping gently against his skin before they slid down, cradling the base of his skull, her blunt nails raking against his scalp in a way that made him shiver.
"Yeah." She confirmed, soft but certain.
Spencer purred at the attention, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment, just soaking it in. Y/N huffed a small, amused sound, shifting again, pressing closer.
"Marry you a thousand times over if I could." She murmured. "Keep you with me forever."
Spencer huffed out a soft laugh, his lips twitching as he scoffed.
"Never getting rid of me anyway."
His lips hovered just above the warmth of her skin before he finally gave in, pressing a slow, lingering kiss against her exposed shoulder from the loose collar, feeling the way her muscles relaxed beneath his touch. He slid his mouth higher, teeth grazing the delicate skin of her collarbone before he latched on, sucking just lightly, just enough to feel her shudder.
Y/N sighed, completely and utterly at ease, her body melting like butter against his.
"Good." She breathed, voice barely above a whisper, and Spencer felt his lips curve against her skin.
Forever. In every sense of the word.

୨୧ STORAGE ROOM SHENANIGANS ✧ SPENCER REID

───── IN WHICH you and spencer get carried away in the bau storage room and suffer the consequences !

THE BAU WAS A FAMILY, a family in the fires of late nights, depressing cases, and all trauma bonded for life—among that family, you and spencer reid were the youngest members.
from the minute you joined the team, it was clear you and spencer had an uncanny connection.
you were just as smart as he was—chatty with your knowledge, sharp with your logic, and often very prone to rambling about random facts. the team loved to tease you both for it, naming the two of you the “bau brainiacs” or, as morgan would call it, “unit of the nerds.”
it was all in good teasing of course, but little did they know there was far more to your relationship with spencer than banter and battles of who’s the smartest.
you and spencer have been secretly dating for months now—the bond between you grew naturally, beginning with long conversations about case theories and late night cups of coffee in the precincts.
the night it became official, you two had stayed up talking until the officers literally had kick the two of you out, and spencer had kissed you after walking you to your hotel room—softly, hesitantly, as if he were testing the waters. —READ MORE!
from that moment on, the two of you were quite literally inseparable—but you both agreed to keep it a secret from the team.
it wasn’t about fear of losing your jobs or professionalism—it was about keeping this one sacred thing just between you two. besides, watching the team try to “ship” you together, so completely unaware of the truth, was much too entertaining to pass up.
it was a quiet and uneventful day at the bau when hotch approached your desks.
“i need those old case files from the storage room,” he said, handing spencer a list. “it’s a long list, so you should both go. faster that way.”
spencer nodded. “got it.”
“be quick,” hotch added, although his tone was more amused than serious.
as soon as the elevator doors closed, you shot spencer a nervous look. “do you think hotch knows we’re dating?”
“i doubt it,” spencer replied, grinning. “i don’t think he would send the both of us alone to the storage room if he did..”
you let out a humoured giggle as the elevator dinged, and you followed spencer into the dark and eerie storage room.
it was a barely lit space with rows of wooden shelves and rows of filing cabinets. the buzzing of the creepy lights filled the room, adding to the already creepy atmosphere. “alright, let’s get started,” you suggested with a sigh, scanning the list. “you take a through m and i’ll handle n through z.”
spencer gave you a sarcastic salute and headed to the opposite side of the room—you were halfway through your section when spencer yelled out, “found the first batch!” you turned to see him holding a stack of folders, a teasing smile on his face. you couldn’t help but smile back.
“such a show off,” you joked, walking over to him.
“it actually wasn’t that hard,” he said, though his voice was tinged with pride. you rolled your eyes affectionately, stepping closer. “you’re so impossible, you know that?”
spencer’s smile softened, his doe eyes locking with yours. he had that look again—the one that made your heart flutter every time.
without thinking, you closed the distance between you and kissed him. it was gentle at first, his lips warm and soft against yours—but as his arms slid your waist and pulled you closer, the kiss deepened.
spencer kissed you as if he was memorizing every detail about you, his fingers tracing slow, tingly patterns along your back—your hands found their way into his hair, tugging gently, and he let out a quiet, almost desperate sound that sent a shiver down your spine.
the folders slammed onto the floor as he pushed you gently against the filing cabinet, his lips moving with more urgency. the cold metal pressed against your back, but the heat of spencer’s body made you forget everything else.
“spence,” you whispered against his lips, your voice breathless at this point. “hm?” he replied, not pulling back. his lips trailed down to your jaw, then your neck, leaving a trail of soft kisses in their wake.
“we should—” you gasped as he found a sensitive spot just below your ear. “—be working.”
“we are working, love—” he mumbled, his voice heavy and desperate. his hands slid to your hips, holding you firmly in place.
your laughter faded as he kissed you again, slower and softer this time but the tensity still held. it was rare to see spencer so bold, so utterly lost in the moment, and it made your heart race.
and unfortunately, neither of you heard the door open.
“ahem.”
the sudden clearing of a throat made you both freeze—you turned your head slowly, dread pooling in your stomach, and found hotch standing by the doorway, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.
spencer stepped back so quickly he nearly tripped over the discarded folders. his face was a deep shade of red, and he stammered, “hotch—i—we—uh—”
hotch held up a hand, silencing him. “i don’t need an explanation,” he said, though his lips twitched like he was trying not to smile. “i assume this has been going on for a while?”
you groaned, covering your face with your hands. “this is so embarrassing.”
“it’s fine,” hotch said, his tone gentle as he felt your embarrassment reflecting across the room. “i just hope you’ve both been keeping this out of the field.”
“yes sir,” spencer blurted, his voice higher than usual.
hotch nodded, his expression softening. “good. because the team already thinks you’re secretly married with children, and this will only confirm it.”
you ran your fingers through your hair, whining as you tugged in frustration, “they’re never going to let us live this down.”
“probably not,” hotch agreed, a rare smile breaking through. “but i think you can handle it.” he turned to leave, before saying one last thing, “don’t forget the files. and maybe try to keep the pda out of the storage room next time.”
the door clicked shut behind him, leaving you and spencer both stunned in silence. when you finally made it back to the bau office, morgan and garcia pounced onto you both immediately.
“what took you two so long?” morgan asked, his grin teasing and glowing on his face. “don’t tell me,” garcia said, holding up a hand to her mouth dramatically. “you got lost in the romantic atmosphere of the storage room!” you groaned, burying your face in spencer’s shoulder—done with everything at this point. he chuckled, wrapping an arm around you.
“something like that,” he said, a small smirk playing at his lips.
morgan’s jaw dropped. “wait—you two aren’t denying it?”
hotch’s voice cut through the chatter as he stepped out of his office. “leave them alone, morgan,” he said, his tone dry but amused. “they’ve had a long day.”
the team burst into laughter again, and you whined, “hotch, you’re supposed to be on our side!”
hotch just smiled faintly before retreating into his office, leaving you and spencer to endure the teasing—despite your embarrassment, you couldn’t help but smile. you had spencer by your side, and all the teasing in the world couldn’t ever ruin that feeling.

fluffy request? <3
Spencer passes reader a little message by writing on their paper coffee cup bc they can’t talk during a bau meeting(?). And then they’re passing a cup of coffee back and forth, talking to each other amid a professional, important business meeting and i can just imagine the others noticing but not saying anything until the meeting’s over and then they mercilessly reel into them. Maybe Derek even steals the cup to see what’s so important it couldn’t wait.
A yawn escaped your mouth as you tried to keep your eyes open and pay attention to what everybody around you was saying.
A meeting was scheduled a lot earlier than usual and having to wake up an hour earlier than your usual routine, it really threw off your rhythm and here you were, having to cover your mouth every ten seconds it seemed to hold back a yawn, which you weren’t handling well at all.
Half an hour into the meeting, from the corner of your eye you saw Spencer lightly pushing a coffee cup towards you with a pencil, careful not to knock it over but also to make sure that the rest of the team wouldn’t notice.
Catching onto his signal to take a sip of the caffeinated beverage, you took a hold of the cup and took a generous swig, letting the coffee do its magic and help you focus. Upon setting the cup down however you saw a little message scrawled onto the side of it.
Be careful not to fall asleep ♡
Looking over at him and seeing him send a smile, you quickly poked your tongue out at him which made him cover his mouth to hold back a laugh. Trying to be discreet, you took the paper cup and quickly wrote out a message for Spencer and slid it half way over to him when the team’s eyes were on the screen looking at a graph.
Spencer pulled the cup towards himself at the next moment when everyone’s eyes were away from him again, and like you suppressing your yawns, he held back another chuckle and thought of a response to you.
The back and forth lasted for an hour when the meeting was over and Morgan was quick to walk over to Spencer, giving him a sly smile and a pat on the back.
“Don’t think we didn’t see what you two were doing over here.”
Spencer looked your way and cleared his throat, pulling some hair from behind his ears to try and hide a light blush on his cheeks.
“I was just letting her drink some of my coffee to try and stay awake.”
“Uhuh keep telling yourself that, pretty boy.”
Snatching the cup out of Spencer’s hand, JJ quickly skimmed over the messages written between you two and smirked at the discourse.
“Yeah, coffee was the last thing on their minds.”

Harmless
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!reader
Summary: A seemingly innocent cab drive turns into torture once you decide to go along with the driver's assumptions.
WC: 600-ish
A/N: blurb to check if I still got it. It gets suggestive at the ending. Enjoy r flustering Spence <33
| Masterlist
Spencer knows you're playful. At any given time, you tell white lies with the most serious expressions on your face just to mislead the ones listening to them. Unbeknownst to you, he finds it endearing. Today, you are wearing a much too big raincoat to shield you from the thin droplets of rain that fall from the sky. “I think we should probably get a cab,” you say, giggling, as the rain becomes stronger.
“Yeah, I think so too.”
He quickly hails a cab, opening the door for you and getting your wet raincoat as you settle in the backseat of the car. He folds it and shakes it as much as he can to get rid of the excess water. Folding it neatly and placing it over his lap, you mutter, “Gimme that, it'll soak your pants.”
Silently, he refused to give it to you when he saw your hands reach for the yellow material.
The cab driver, an elderly lady, grins fondly at the two of you interacting. Stopping at a red sign, she can't help but think out loud, remembering her own lover. “You two make a beautiful couple.”
Spencer freezes, cheeks burning red with embarrassment as he looks at you, searching for an acceptable reaction. His instincts were telling him to thank the older woman and he does so, shyly, feeling his heart skip a bit. Upon hearing his responde, a twinkle of mischief takes over your eyes. “Thanks, ma'am. We really do, don't we?”
Oh, my God. Here it comes.
The old lady gives you two a loving glance through the rear-view mirror, agreeing wholeheartedly. “You do.”
“I always say he'd give me pretty babies too.”
Spencer turns to you, baffled. Widened eyes petrify as they catch the underlying teasing in your expression, brain short-circuiting as he tries to process what the hell did you just say. He can't believe that, out of all the harmless lies you've told, you had to go with what the woman said, not batting an eye to deny it.
(He tries not to feed the image conjured in his mind as you say the words pretty babies. He really, really tries.)
He looks at the driver, who has an amused smirk on her face. Spencer shoots you a look, trying to disguise his flustered state with what he hopes it's a glare. Silently, but half-heartedly, begging you to not encourage the lady’s comments.
“We… we aren't…” The words die on his tongue, too shaken by the sparkle in your eye.
“He always says we aren't ready for it yet.” You complete, rolling your eyes, stifling a giggle. He lets out a breath.
There is now a traffic jam outside as the rain turns more careless drivers into safer ones. Therefore, Spencer busies himself into trying to control his own breathing, glad for the silence, albeit awkward (for him), that settles over the small space. The cab drive is tortuously slow, and he keeps digging himself a deeper hole as he indulges in the fantasy and imagines himself with a life by your side.
When you two reach your destination, he pays the lady, even though he can't meet her eyes. “You have to stop telling lies,” he mutters, mortified, as you almost double down in laughter once she drives away.
“Come on. That… that was pretty funny.” You say as your laughter dies down.
He swallows, still gripping the wet raincoat tightly over his lap, walking side by side with you. “You and me as a couple?”
You shake your head. “Your reaction.”
“Why?”
“If you're this flustered by my harmless lies…”
“There was nothing harmless about that.”
Cheekily, you respond, "Then practice should be fun.”
Silence.
Oh.
OH.
“What?!”1

🎀Spencer Reid & Girlfriend’s Daughter / Stepdad! Spencer Headcanons🎀
A lot of these would fit into just regular dad! Spencer headcanons but I’ve been really loving the idea of him with a single mother and becoming a stepdad recently so I wanted to think about them in that context, and it warms my heart even more because I just know he’d immediately see her family as his own and make them both feel so loved :(
When he first met her daughter he brought her a gift copy of her favourite children’s book
Princess parties GALORE. Tiaras and everything and he’s so happy to oblige. He comes to his gfs house with her daughter’s favourite dessert and tells her about tea varieties as he helps her organise her stuffed animals into a seating plan
Likewise he lets her paint his nails and do his hair. Sometimes he’s teased when he goes into work with chipped pink paint on his nails but he doesn’t mind in the slightest
Whenever he goes to see his gf he brings two bunches of flowers, for both girls
Invites her daughter on dates with the two of them, loves taking her to places like aquariums and kids museums
He’s always performing magic tricks to entertain her and when his gf is having a bad day he recruits her daughter to be his assistant and they put on a magic show to cheer her up
Keeps her daughters’ favourite snacks/drinks in his apartment for when his gf visits
Likewise, rearranged stuff in his apartment to be accommodating of her
Reads her fairytales and her favourite children’s books, or memorises them so he can tell her whatever story she wants anytime
She made him a bracelet once and he wears it absolutely everywhere and calls it his good luck charm
They’re gossip buddies and he totally has beef with half her school class
At Christmas and on birthdays he absolutely tries to recruit her daughter into telling him what his gf has gotten him
Researches her interests so the next time he sees her he can impress her and talk to her about them
Has a drawing she made him on his fridge and it always makes his gf smile when she visits
If her daughter is sick or upset, he goes over to visit and does silly voices with her stuffed animals to make her laugh
When he proposes to his gf he either involves her daughter in part of the proposal or proposes to them both with a proper ring for the gf and a cute kiddie ring for her daughter
Basically he understands (and loves) that her daughter comes with the relationship and does everything he can to make both his girls feel loved and included.

Burning Up || Spencer Reid + 18
· Pairing: Spencer Reid/Reader · Category: Angst, Smut · Warning: Soft sex, happy ending. · Words: 3082 · Summary : A tension exists between you and Spencer. He actively resists and maintains distance every time you come near. He has an internal conflict between what is right and what is wrong. · Inspiration: Song: "Burning Up" Madonna
· Spanish on Wattpad. English isn't my first language, be kind! · Masterlist · TikTok
The room was charged with a subtle electricity that always seemed to build between you two. The rest of the team had already left to rest or go over leads in other areas, leaving you alone with Spencer.
You had tried to focus on the files in front of you—the photographs, the scattered notes on the table—but your eyes kept drifting toward him. Seated across from you, hunched over his notebook, Spencer scribbled something with the intensity of someone trying to find a logical way through chaos.
It was that intensity that drew you in—it always had. Spencer had an aura that made him seem untouchable, as if his mind operated on a level no one else could reach. And yet, the more time you spent near him, the clearer it became that there was something beneath the surface. Something vulnerable. Something passionate. Something he worked hard to bury under layers of professionalism.
"Don't put me off, 'cause I'm on fire."
The lyric echoed in your mind, and you bit the inside of your cheek to suppress a smile. The irony wasn’t lost on you.
"Y/N, are you listening?" His voice pulled you from your thoughts.
You blinked, realizing you'd been staring in his direction—though not directly at him. "Yeah, yeah… of course. What were you saying?"
Spencer frowned slightly, adjusting his glasses with a quick motion before pointing at the map spread out on the table. "I said that the profile suggests the suspect will likely return to where it all started. It’s a pattern that—"
"Uh-huh, I get that," you interrupted gently, leaning forward to get a better look at the map. "But what if that’s exactly what he wants us to think? What if he's breaking the pattern on purpose? I know it’s not typical… not a common choice… but at this point, we should at least consider it."
Spencer studied you, his brown eyes scanning you with curiosity. He always appreciated a fresh perspective, but this time, his gaze lingered a little longer than necessary before shifting back to the map.
"Do you wanna see me down on my knees?"
The lyric hit you harder this time, making you press your lips together. There was something about the way he always pulled back whenever you got too close that only made you want to push his limits even more.
"It’s a possibility..." he finally said, breaking the silence. "But the pattern is the only solid lead we have right now."
You leaned back in your chair, crossing your arms as you looked at him, frustrated. "Always so logical, Doctor."
"It’s my job," he replied without looking up, his attention still on the papers.
"And it’s also what keeps you safe, isn’t it?" The words slipped out before you could stop them.
Spencer’s head snapped up. "What do you mean by that?"
"You hide behind logic, Spencer," you said, leaning forward. "It’s your shield. But some things aren’t logical—you can’t just avoid them because they scare you."
He blinked, caught off guard by your bluntness, but before he could respond, you pushed yourself up from your chair. "I’m getting coffee. Do you want anything?"
He shook his head but didn’t say anything else. As you walked out of the room, you could feel his eyes on your back, and it only made you want to turn around and challenge him again.
"I'm burning up, burning up for your love," you thought, clenching your fists as you made your way to the coffee machine.
The words you had thrown at Spencer still echoed in your mind as you waited for the coffee to finish brewing. You had crossed a line, and while you didn’t regret it, you knew he wouldn’t just let it slide.
Back in the conference room, Spencer was exactly where you had left him—except his posture had changed. His back was stiff against the chair, and his pen, usually in constant motion, lay motionless on his notebook. When you closed the door behind you, he looked up, his expression more guarded than usual.
"What was that all about?" His tone was colder than you expected.
"What was what?" you asked, trying to keep your tone light as you walked closer.
"That whole thing about me hiding behind logic." Spencer stood up to face you, adjusting his glasses. "I don’t know what you’re trying to imply, but if this has anything to do with—"
"—you and me," you interrupted, setting your coffee down on the table with more force than necessary. "That’s exactly what it has to do with."
His jaw tightened, and for a moment, it seemed like he was going to argue. But instead, he looked away, his gaze dropping back to the papers. "There is no 'you and me,' Y/N. This is work, and the only thing that matters is solving this case."
The way he said it—so sharp, so final—should have made you back off. But instead, it only fueled something inside you, a need to break through that carefully crafted façade of perfection.
"Are you really going to keep pretending you don’t feel anything, Reid?" you asked, stepping closer. "That you don’t notice how the air changes when we’re in the same room?"
"What I notice," he started, pushing himself up from his chair, "is that you’re crossing lines you shouldn’t be crossing."
"That you want to want me, but you can't let go," you thought as you watched him. You could see the way his self-control tightened, as if every word was a struggle to hold his ground.
"Maybe those lines shouldn’t be there," you said softly, taking another step forward. You were close enough now to catch the light, clean scent of his cologne.
"Y/N, stop..." His voice was low, as if he were speaking more to himself than to you.
"I can’t stop." You moved even closer, forcing him to step back until his back met the wall. "And neither can you, so stop trying."
He lifted his hands slightly, as if to create some invisible barrier between you, but his eyes betrayed the war raging inside him. "This isn’t right," he said, his voice laced with an intensity that almost made you hesitate. "We can’t do this. I can’t do this."
But he didn’t move away. His hands remained raised—but he didn’t touch you, didn’t push you back. His eyes stayed locked on yours, and the tension in his body was almost tangible.
"Then say it," you challenged, your voice barely above a whisper. "Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t feel anything. Tell me you don’t want—"
His lips parted, like he was about to say the words. But nothing came out. Instead, his breathing quickened, and his hands slowly dropped to his sides.
"That’s what I thought," you said, your tone victorious but laced with quiet softness.
Spencer closed his eyes for a moment, as if gathering every ounce of willpower. "This is a mistake," he murmured finally.
"Maybe." You leaned in just enough so that your face was inches from his. "But some mistakes are worth making."
Spencer took a deep breath, as if trying to steady himself, but it wasn’t working. "This can’t happen," he said more firmly, stepping to the side to put space between you. "Not just because it would be inappropriate, but because… because it wouldn’t work."
You followed him, moving back into his path, challenging every barrier he tried to put up. "It wouldn’t work? Or you don’t want it to work because it would complicate your perfect, structured life?"
"It’s not that!" The words came out too fast, too forceful. He immediately glanced toward the door, as if worried someone else might have heard. Then, in a lower voice, he added, "This isn’t about avoiding complications. It’s about doing the right thing."
"And what if the right thing doesn’t feel right?" you challenged, tilting your head.
"Then we ignore it," he replied, crossing his arms over his chest as if that could shield him from the weight of your words.
"Do you wanna see me down on my knees?"
The lyric echoed in your mind, giving you the push to take this one step further.
"You’re not as good at lying to yourself as you think, Spencer," you said, stepping closer again. "Not with me."
"Y/N," he murmured, and this time, there was something almost pleading in his tone. "Please, don’t make this harder."
"Harder for who? You?" You held his gaze, unwavering. "Because for me, this is simple. I know what I want. And what I want is standing right in front of me."
The color in his cheeks deepened, but his posture remained rigid. "It's not that simple," he said, though his voice no longer carried the same conviction.
"Why not? Why are you afraid of feeling something you can’t control? Why won’t you admit that you’re already feeling it?"
The silence that followed was deafening, and for a moment, you thought he might give in. But then, Spencer stepped back, putting the smallest but most significant distance between you.
"I can’t do this," he said, his voice low, as if each word drained his energy. "Not with you. Not now. I’m sorry."
Disappointment tangled with frustration, but you knew he wasn’t running because he felt nothing. He was running because he felt too much.
"Fine. Have it your way," you finally said, stepping back. "I won’t push you anymore. I just... I can’t pretend this isn’t happening. If you’re ever ready… tell me. But I won’t wait forever."
Spencer looked at you, his eyes reflecting the war within him, the battle he couldn’t put into words. He didn’t stop you as you gathered your things and walked out of the room.
Out in the hallway, you leaned against the wall, exhaling slowly. "I'm burning up, burning up for your love," you murmured to yourself, letting the song finish the sentence you couldn’t say out loud.
—
The hotel room was dimly lit, the only glow coming from the small bedside lamp. You had tried to distract yourself with case reports, but the words on the screen blurred into meaninglessness. Every time you closed your eyes, the confrontation replayed in your mind: the conflict in Spencer’s gaze, the way he said no… but also how he hadn’t been able to step away until the very last second.
"Unlike the others, I'd do anything."
The lyrics echoed in your head like a taunt, mocking your attempts to stay calm.
You got up from the bed, unable to stay still. There was something suffocating in the air, a mixture of regret and longing that kept you moving, as if pacing back and forth could silence the thoughts running wild in your head.
Across the hall, Spencer sat on the edge of his bed, elbows on his knees, hands clasped together. His hair was a mess, his glasses sitting on the table beside the phone. He hadn’t even tried to sleep—how could he, after what had happened?
He had gone over every word, every look, searching for a logical angle, a way to make sense of what had transpired. But there was no logic that could save him from what he felt: guilt, yes, but also an unrelenting desire burning beneath his skin.
"This can’t happen," he whispered to himself, as if saying it aloud could make it true. But even as he spoke, his eyes drifted toward the door, as if something—someone—on the other side was pulling him in.
At some point during the night, your paths crossed again. Maybe it was chance, or maybe it was inevitable. When you opened your door to step out for some air, you found him in the hallway, his face pale, his eyes dark.
"Spencer," you whispered.
"I needed… to walk," he said, though it was obvious he was looking for something more than that.
Silence stretched between you, thick with everything neither of you dared to say.
Until finally, he shook his head. "I shouldn’t be here."
"But you are." You took a step closer.
His gaze locked onto yours, and for a moment, both of you stood frozen, caught in a place with no turning back.
"It’s too much," he admitted in a breath, his voice cracking slightly. "I don’t know how to handle it."
"You don’t have to handle it," you murmured, stepping close enough that he could feel your warmth. "Just… go with it."
Spencer didn’t move, as if fighting every instinct in his body. But when he finally looked up at you, there were no more defenses in his eyes—only raw, consuming desire.
"I can't keep pretending," he murmured, stepping toward you.
"Then don’t," you whispered.
The space between you disappeared in an instant. His mouth found yours with a desperation that stole your breath, his hands gripping your face as if afraid you’d vanish. Spencer had always been methodical, in control—but in that moment, there was none of that. He was pure fire, everything he had suppressed finally unleashed.
Your hands clutched at his shirt, pulling him closer as you stumbled backward into the room. The door slammed shut behind you, but you barely noticed. All that mattered was the weight of his body pressing against yours, the way his breath mingled with yours, the low, ragged sounds escaping his throat.
"This is insane," he muttered against your skin, though his lips kept moving along your neck.
"I think you need a little insanity," you teased, breathless, fingers tangling in his hair as his hands roamed your back with a frantic kind of urgency.
For Spencer, this moment felt like crossing a line he had never thought he would. But in the end, he realized he had been standing on the edge of that line since the moment he met you.
The air was thick, heavy with heat. His breath mingled with yours, uneven, as his lips traced your neck, alternating between kisses and gentle bites that made your head spin.
"This isn’t—" he started, his voice a whisper against your skin. But there was something desperate in the way he touched you, as if he needed to feel you, to confirm that this wasn’t just a dream.
There was no time for more words. Spencer’s logic, his self-control, his professionalism—everything unraveled. With a near-violent impulse, you pushed him toward the bed. Clothes—an obstacle neither of you could ignore—began to fall away between kisses and gasps. Every movement was a battle, a push and pull between his deeply ingrained restraint and the undeniable force of desire. But now, in this space, nothing was holding him back.
Your body burned under his touch, and though he tried to keep his distance, his hands betrayed him, exploring every inch of you, his palm gliding over your torso, down to your waist, as if he was finally allowing himself to have you. This wasn’t the distant, controlled Spencer you had known. This was a man on the edge—of need, of madness—consumed by what he felt for you.
"Y/N," he whispered between kisses, his voice raw, as if clinging to your name was the only thing grounding him. "This... I can't..."
You didn’t let him finish. You silenced him with a kiss, deep and hungry, and he laughed into your mouth. There was no case to solve, no walls left to break down. Just the need to be together, no more excuses.
With a determined move, you pushed him back, taking control, feeling the way he yielded under your touch. Spencer was completely in your hands, and for the first time, he didn’t seem to want to fight it. His grip on your back tightened, pulling you against him as if he needed the physical connection, the proof that this was real.
"I don’t know if I can handle what I feel," he admitted, his voice rough with emotion. But when his hands found your face and he kissed you with a raw, burning intensity, it no longer mattered what he thought.
You moved with him, and the world blurred away. The softness of the bed beneath you, the heat of his body against yours, the way his lips trailed lower, leaving a path of fire across your skin... The rhythm between you was frantic, yet tender, as if both of you were trying to prove that this wasn’t a mistake, not like Spencer had tried to convince himself before.
Spencer paused for a moment, breathless, exhausted, looking down at you. "Y/N..." Everything was clear in that instant.
"Yes," you whispered, cupping his face, pulling him closer. And in that kiss, nothing else mattered. No words were needed. Everything between you finally made sense.
When the morning light filtered into the room, the silence between you had shifted. Spencer lay beside you, staring at the ceiling as if searching for patterns, lost in thought. Reality had changed—you had changed—and you both knew it. His mind was running a thousand miles per hour.
"I can’t... I can’t promise this won’t get complicated," Spencer murmured, his voice quiet but filled with the resistance that defined him.
"You don’t have to promise anything," you said, turning to face him, resting a hand on his chest, gentle. "What, you expect this to be easy? That sounds boring." You teased.
He gave a subtle, lopsided smile, and somehow it put him at ease, helping him come to terms with the situation.
The silence between you wasn’t uncomfortable. Neither of you knew what would come next, but for now, all you could do was accept it. The tension that had defined your relationship until now had transformed into something else entirely.
"You know you got me burning up, baby."

forwards beckon rebound | s.r.
[previously]
in which fate reveals itself to you and Spencer. it's exactly as you feared, you're in love with him.
who? spencer reid x fem!reader category: angst content warnings: blowing smoke FINALE (p4), maeve, kidnapping, russian roulette, imminent death, violence, blood, nondescript case fic, no hea word count: 1.88k a/n: two things 1) i do have an alternate ending to this series 2) fluff this weekend i promise
Brightness seared your retinas when the blindfold finally came off, you felt the sore skin in places where the fabric was too tight over your face. An abstract of indents were left over your skin.
Dots and shadows danced in your vision while you tried to blink them away, forming the shape of someone who oddly resembled Spencer. He was hunched over in a chair in front of you, his neck bent at an uncomfortable angle. Your solace was the steady rising and falling of his chest. Each time he took a breath it eased your own.
“Spence,” you called for him, your throat so swollen that it came out as a hiss. The desperate cry of a rattlesnake hindered by whoever had crushed your windpipe.
Tunnel vision blinded you to anything in the periphery, your eyes scanned Spencer while you acquainted yourself with the binds around your wrists and ankles. He seemed unharmed, save for the obvious unconsciousness. You had no idea who had taken you, but the BAU had no shortage of enemies. The two of you were, by extension, always targets.
Your ears perked up at the first sign of noise in the warehouse, hot air rose to the floor you were on, leaving you sticky and uncomfortable in the humid prison. Glancing over your shoulder, you watched a masked figure waltz through the doorway.
Clocking the gun affixed to their hip, you quickly looked over to Spencer, hoping he would wake up soon. The fabric ties around your wrists dug into your fragile skin as you looked around the room, remembering there was someone else in here with you, someone who had pulled your blindfold off.
Silently, you started putting the pieces together. “Spencer,” you whispered, having half a mind to reach your foot out and try to kick him awake. There was a reason you had been the one blindfolded. Somewhere in your subconscious, you knew where you were. It led to the horrifying realization that this was about you.
His nose wrinkled, and the first sign that he was starting to wake up was interrupted when the masked figure stood behind him, gripping him by his hair and lifting his head.
Your body instinctively tried to jump to its feet in protest, “Hey!” You shouted as your chair creaked from its bolts in the ground, “Let him go.” Cringing, you watched as he dropped Spencer’s head, letting it loll to the side while he woke up.
The two UnSubs walked out of the room, leaving you and Spencer to your own devices. You shushed him slightly while he groaned, your breath hitching when your name slipped past his lips.
“It’s okay,” you told him. “I’m okay, I’m right here,” you assured him, though you weren’t entirely sure how comforting it was knowing you were both bound to chairs.
Spencer didn’t respond. You twisted your wrist within your binds and winced when it pulled in precisely the wrong way. Looking around, you chewed on the inside of your lip and tried to find something to help you, but there was no next step if you couldn’t get your hands free.
He groaned across from you, and you swallowed back a consolation. You studied him, his head tilted so aggressively to the side that you could see the glint of the scar on his neck. The faded mark was invisible to the naked eye, but when it caught in just the right light, you remembered the way you’d succumbed to dread in that hospital in Texas.
You should’ve called it then. You should have thrown in the proverbial towel and committed yourself to him that very night, with that guy bleeding out on the hospital floor and Penelope shouting about her ears popping.
But you’d heard the gunshot, and you’d seen the fear on his face, and at that moment, the only thing you could remember was trying to pick him up from the floor when he tried to crawl over to Maeve’s lifeless body. You remembered the way he cried when the team tried to give him space and you watched him push Diane’s body over so he could finally get a look at his dearly departed.
Even before she became the most beautiful girl in the world, you never trusted yourself with him. Your lack of faith in him pressed upon your shoulders like the weight of the sky. The pendant he had gifted you seared your chest like a brand. The Tree of Life weighed heavy over your heart.
Your romance with Spencer was like a car crash you couldn’t take your eyes off of. He relentlessly rammed his shoulder into the wall you’d constructed between you while you were on the other side reinforcing the bricks. His soft skin had been marred with bruises, and debris was littered across your body.
You should’ve called it then, but besides your sinking feeling that you’d never step up to the pedestal he had placed Maeve on, you knew you’d only have him temporarily. Life was excruciatingly short, and no amount of time would suffice when it came to him
The wall remained standing in the same way that Maeve’s had, refusing to let Spencer in, refusing to let Spencer help. “Spence,” you whispered. “Are you alright?”
Slowly, his eyes lifted to look at you, and you imagined he was witnessing his worst nightmare. Maybe he’d convince himself he was dreaming, damning you to the fate of telling him this was really happening. “You’re bleeding,” he said, voice gruff from lack of use. His brown eyes flashed with fear when they met yours, but it was no longer residual fear from Maeve’s death—it was fear for you. Had it always been fear for you? Was it possible that the terrorized look in his eye that pushed you away from him had always stemmed from his fear of losing you?
Wrinkling your nose, you finally felt it on your upper lip; blood had trickled from your nose down your face. You shook your head once and said, "It’s just my nose.” You watched his face contort as he tried to free himself from his binds.
Birds chirped outside of the windows; the setting sun invaded the blinds that shadowed the otherwise dark room. Lines of tangerine light lit his face while he ascertained your well-being for himself. There was no point in asking if you knew what had happened, and Spencer wasn’t in the habit of wasting time.
You tried using your thumbnail to cut through the twine around your wrists, the broken piece of keratin on your hand was, so far, the best option you’d had. “Did you see anything?” You asked him, trying to use conversation as a distraction from your current predicament.
He only said your name in response, wide eyes looking past you and watching as the man in the ski mask walked back into the room. The revolver that had previously been holstered on his hip was now in his hands. He spun the cylinder as he approached you, and your heart dropped when he raised the gun, pointing it at Spencer.
“No,” your voice was no more than a whisper while Spencer looked up at your abductor. He met his gaze and refused to flinch, even when he pulled the trigger. Someone who had never met Spencer would think he was entirely stone-faced in the face of a weapon, but you watched the light in his eyes shift and his Adam’s apple bob.
When he pulled the trigger and nothing happened, your chest tightened, but everything about Spencer’s demeanor changed when the gun was turned on you. The barrel pressed to your temple, you shook your head when the shouting started, “Stop!” You closed your eyes, two silent tears streaking your face as the cold metal pressed against your skin. “Let her go,” Spencer urged. “You don’t need both of us.”
The bargaining started, and memories flashed behind your eyelids. Her for me. Let me take her place.
Spencer called your name when the trigger was pulled again, and the weapon clicked without expelling a bullet.
“Where is she?” Your abductor asked, his voice ringing out in an unfamiliar accent, referring to a mystery woman.
You shook your head once when the weapon was removed from your temple, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Part of you wished you were just egging on a suspect, but you felt entirely powerless while you looked at Spencer, confused.
His clenched fist made contact with your cheek, eliciting a shout from Spencer while your head twisted to the side. “Don’t lie to me! I know she called you.”
The gun rose again, “Please,” you cried as the barrel met Spencer’s forehead. “We can help you if you tell us what’s going on,” you assured the unnamed man.
Flinching, you watched the revolver click again, now halfway through the six cartridges. You were left with three more chances and, presumably, one bullet. “Killing one of us isn’t going to get us to help you,” Spencer tried to reason with him, but if there was one thing you knew, it’s that you can’t change a mind that’s been made up.
He scoffed, lifting the gun to your head, and you felt the blood drain from your face in anticipation. Every part of you ran cold as the gun met your temple, “Spencer, close your eyes.”
You continued digging at your restraints, jumping slightly when the gun clicked again. The mechanical sound of the trigger rang in your ears, echoing endlessly when you looked back at Spencer. You swallowed back an I love you, not wanting to succumb to the cliché while you met Spencer’s eyes again. A piece of you hoped the look in your eyes said everything you needed, noises came from elsewhere in the building, and you wished it was a savior.
With the revolver up at his temple, he nodded reassuringly at you, “I know.”
“Please let him go,” you begged, your voice catching over your tears. “If this is about me, you have to let him go,” you promised.
When the trigger was pulled again with no consequences, your heart dropped. The blood-pumping organ fell through your entire body, and you looked up at Spencer, unable to hide the terror in your eyes.
You shook your head as the gun was pressed against your temple, “Spencer, don’t watch.” You faced down your own death, trying to ignore the way your hands trembled as you tugged at your binds in a last-minute escape attempt. “You don’t need to see this,” you didn’t add again, but the thought crossed your mind while you thought of the necklace that sat over your heart.
“I have to see you through,” Spencer insisted, silver lining his eyes while he furiously pulled at his own restraints.
Your chest rose and fell in desperate, shaking breaths. You couldn’t do it; you couldn’t meet his eyes with a revolver pressed to your skull. You should’ve done it. You should’ve called it then, but that was how life worked. Things were already clearest when they were in the rearview window. There was nothing for you to do.
All Spencer could do was watch as he pulled the trigger, and the cycle repeated.
"History repeats itself, but in such cunning disguise that we never detect the resemblance until the damage is done." - Sydney J. Harris

you were sat on the couch reading a book, Spencer had gone out earlier with Penelope on as she put it—a top secret mission.
it pulled a laugh from you as Spencer followed her out the door.
that was a little over two hours ago, and Spencer was just now getting home. he had a bag with him, the familiar bag from your favourite bookstore catching your eye.
setting your book aside after putting the bookmark inside, before moving towards him.
“what’s this?”
you asked, nodding to the bag while Spencer smiled at you. he handed it over, and your eyes widened.
he’d bought you a few of the books off your tbr list.
glancing back up at him his smile had widened, a proud look on his face at the genuine gratefulness you showed.
“Spencer! you didn’t have to”
you told, setting the books down on the couch to pull him into a hug. your arms went around his neck as he spoke.
“you’ve wanted them for a while”
you went to protest but he stopped you, kissing you softly. you melted into him, whispering against his lips.
“if i didn’t know you better, i’d say you were trying to flirt by giving me books”
he smiled, a laugh falling from his lips as you shook your head. Spencer stole another kiss, both of his hands cradling your face.
after a minute, he whispered to you again.
“i’d buy you a whole library if it was what you wanted”

im so obsessed
i love!!!
pt 2?
california gurls - spencer reid x fem!reader

reader's beach partying gets interrupted by the fbi... she finds a way to make it fun when she realizes a cute doctor is around and so is her jeep
genre: smut wc: 2133 warnings: early seasons spencer, subbish!spencer, he whimpers, reader wears a bikini, mentioned rapist and murderer, mentions of harassment, reader has been with asshole men, reader has a jeep, car sex, unprotected sex, reader is on birth control, brief nipple play a/n: based off california gurls by katy perry!!
California is absolutely a cliché. Sunkissed skin, bikinis, Daisy Dukes. The golden coast holds parties–like this one–scantily clad girls and slurring morons that look exactly how every other frat boy looks. Here you are, representing that very image. With your red bikini and sand-covered feet, you’re the epitome of a California girl.
In the corner of your eye are palm trees, under which are several tanning ladies. Boys are practically drooling, necks craned to get a peek. Speakers play pop that seems to move everyone–including you. Bodies splash in sparkling blue, hips rock to the rhythm. The music booms. That is until it comes to an abrupt stop.
You look over to see a group of men in sunglasses approaching, one of them evidently responsible for the music-murdering due to his apologetic shrug. He’s obviously not that sorry. Male voices seem offended by it.
The one that turned off the fun stands tall, a black man that–if you didn’t know any better–you’d say was from around here. Another is shorter and older. The one you find most interesting, however, is tall and scrawny, with hair curling around his ears and a permanent nervous smile. To be completely honest, it’s cute. If you could see beneath his sunglasses, you’re sure you’d find overwhelmed eyes bouncing between each tanned body.
The big one–the black one–lifts credentials from his belt.
“Listen, we’re with the FBI. There’s been a string of rapes and murders in the area and we have reason to believe that the UnSub has been here. He might even be one of you.”
Someone–you’re not sure who–raises a hand and asks, “UnSub?”
“Unknown Subject. Bad guy. Perp. You get the idea.” He takes off his eyewear and hooks it in his shirt. “I’m Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan. This here is Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi and,” he points to the cute one, “Dr. Spencer Reid.”
Dr. Spencer Reid awkwardly waves before crossing his arms, lips pressed in a tight line. You wonder what kind of doctor he is and if you should pretend to faint.
“We’ll be asking you questions one by one,” Rossi explains.
Quickly, without even a moment to think, you’re split into groups. One for each agent. To your absolute joy, you’re waiting your turn to get evaluated by the only one labeled doctor. You get closer and can hear the helpless way he asks his questions. With the girls, it’s awkward like he doesn’t know how to talk to girls wearing so little. With the guys, he seems to be keeping a distance. He analyses them–for good reason–but he also seems nervous because he knows the type. He knows the difference between them. To be more precise, he knows how they treat guys like him.
You’re the last in the long line.
When you get to Spencer, you’re pleased when his eyes flick over you before he swallows.
“Hey,” he starts with a tight grin, “I’m Dr. Spencer Reid with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.” You tell him your name. He smiles that same awkward smile.
“Uh, right, so… the guy we’re looking for is socially skilled, arrogant, easily aggravated, and will most likely be bold with the way he talks to women, becoming hostile when turned down.”
It’s not in the least appropriate but, in-between gawking at him, you laugh. “Unfortunately, that sounds like every guy out here.”
His perfect brown eyebrows pull together. “Really?”
You nod. Now, up close, your eyes trace his figure, taking in the grey shirt, blue tie and the gun on his hip. It’s weirdly attractive. You wonder when you started being attracted to authority.
“I guess guys around here aren’t gentlemen,” you shrug.
“And girls actually date them?”
Something about the shock in his eyes and the scowl on his lips makes you swoon. “Guess so.”
“What about–uh–harassment? Is there any of that?” Spencer looks down at you.
Shrugging, you sigh, “sometimes. Usually just frat boys. Nothing extreme. Sometimes the gross ones might try too hard. We’ve all been there.”
His lips part and he nods at your answer. Surprisingly, those pretty brown eyes trickle down your body, mapping out each and every curve with a purpose, as if to memorize. The idea of him locking you away only to take back out when he’s alone turns you on more than you’d care to admit. It’s flattering to think you’re that interesting.
It could also be wishful thinking.
But that could be tested.
More specifically, that could be tested by one sentence. That sentence being, “do you want to go to my car? It’s cooler in there. You know?”
After what could only ever be described as a brain short-circuit, Spencer clears his throat and hums a squeaky, “yeah.”
A delighted smile forms on your face as you nod, taking a few steps back to your Jeep. You unlock it, opening the door and leaning over to put the key in the ignition. Spencer’s eyes fall on your ass in the tight, red fabric. You hear him clear his throat behind you before you straighten up. But he’s much closer to you than anticipated.
Chest-to-chest, you look up at him, eyes wide and cheeks burning hot not because of the sun. A rough swallow and then a quick glance to your breasts proves that maybe the attraction isn’t unrequited. He wets his lips and you’re sure you can’t hold back.
Inappropriately, sloppily, and with force, your lips crash together. You hold yourself up only with your hands on the back of his head. And it’s not like you expected any less with lips like his, but he’s an amazing kisser. It’s messy, sure, but it’s hot, your teeth clumsily clacking together every time your mouths open. Only, he doesn’t seem to be enjoying it as much as he wants to be.
“This isn’t–” he huffs into your mouth, hands finding your shoulders. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”
Although you know it’s true–he’s supposed to be questioning you not sticking his tongue down your throat–you really don’t care. “Why not?”
“I–I’m not here to–” He takes a frustrated breath. “I’m not here for this… reason.”
You almost wish he wasn’t so perfect but it kind of made it better. When your lips press against his this time, he moans and you’re right back where you started. You think he doesn’t really want to say no. He just knows he should.
You look up at him, your eyes wide and doe-like. Like a little girl capable of begging for a lollipop, you frown. “Please?”
A rough gulp. An exhale. A nod.
Lips reconnect and you’re soon enough in the front seat, on his lap, fingers curling in his gelled hair and cheeks bright red. The door haphazardly shut, you hold onto the handle for balance. Your hips start moving in circles as his tongue dives into your mouth. The prettiest whine falls from him as his hands finally move to your bare waist. One of those hands drift down to the string of your bottoms.
He breaks the kiss and his sickeningly deer-like eyes find yours. “C–Can I?” Spencer mutters carefully. His eyes shine, sparkles of lust floating over the hazel.
“Yeah,” you breathe shakily. Bobbing your head, you lean back as little as you can while still giving him room. But, what you weren’t expecting was him not taking off the fabric. Instead of untying the string and letting it fall down to show off your already wet center, he slides the inadequate polyester to the side, revealing your core.
The way his steady–but honestly heavy–breathing hitches and turns whiny makes you clench. Like handling the finest porcelain, his index and middle finger drag between your folds before reaching a settlement on your ready clit.
A long, pleased sigh leaves you as your hips resume their messy pattern of rocking. He can’t choose between watching you slide across his fingers or your lips part in ecstasy. The feeling of him touching you is heaven but you want something else. At this very moment, you’d crawl, bare, to the ends of the earth for him to please you the way you want.
Oddly steady fingers find his belt. The clanging it makes flips your stomach. You pull his pants down just enough to reach into his purple boxers. A whimper slips out of his mouth as you take him out.
He’s big, pale and pink at the tip. Thin but the perfect length, however. His nails dig into your waist.
You press your forehead against his and slide your hand up and down his length. “I don’t have–uh–any condoms in here but I’m on birth control and I’m clean.”
Spencer’s lips part, an uneven whimper leaving them. “I’m clean, too.”
You release him and position yourself. The tip of his cock brushes through you before you set him at your entrance. His grip on your waist never lets up as you start to lower.
An embarrassingly loud moan slips out of you. You take him to the hilt. Inch by inch until he’s reaching so deep you can’t think. To hide how disgustingly far you’re being stretched, your mouth meets his messily. He takes in your bottom lip and devours it. It’s when you can’t stop yourself that you pull back and put your heads together.
You lift yourself up until only the last inch of him is still inside. You’re sure you’ll have perfect indents left on your skin from his fingernails. You slam your hips back down quicker than you should.
His panicked voice rings high-pitched in the hot car, “i–it’s been a while, I might not last–”
Part of you is glad because you know you won’t either. “That’s okay. That’s–that’s really okay,” you pant.
You revel in the way he whimpers with each movement of your hips. You revel in how pink his cheeks are and the way his eyes can’t stay off your chest no matter how hard they try. You revel even more in how wide they go when you pull the string of your top and let it fall. One of his hands you take, bringing it up. He rolls the sensitive flesh between his fingers as you start a rhythm.
You’re unrelenting, body moving quick because you can’t get enough of how good it feels to have him so deep. It’s bad for you to be feeling him twitch inside you. It makes you lightheaded.
Spencer’s neediness comes in the form of him thrusting up to meet you every time. With one rough thrust, his cock hits your innermost point forcefully and you whine, bringing his lips back to yours. Tongues sloppily collide with no grace. Moans are exchanged while you roll your hips back and forth. In a momentary rush of confidence, his hands move to your hips.
And then your ass.
He’s uncertain why he would do such a thing because now he’s fighting back his orgasm, his length throbbing against your cervix.
Luckily, you’re in the same place. Your walls flutter each time he brushes your sweet spot. Each time he mutters an expletive.
It seems he’s the one to break first, however.
“I don’t think I can–”
You mumble breathlessly, “me, neither, it’s okay.”
Sweat runs down your chest as you pant out desperate moans with each intake of needed oxygen. That knot builds in your gut–a feeling that’s rarely due to a man. You suppose he’s a separate being than the regular assholes around. When his fingers find your clit again, you’re sure. Spencer’s whimpering turns into heavy exhales and you take that as your cue to swiftly tell him not to pull out.
Droopy eyes meet his before you firmly mutter, “inside.”
He sighs shakily and nods.
A few more times of his cock hitting your cervix has both of your orgasms hurtling towards you. Your forehead falls onto his shoulder. His hips slam into yours and you’re coming instantly. Your walls clench around him, triggering his own release effortlessly. His cum drips down your thighs, creating a sure mess.
Words–swears–that make no sense fall from your swollen and parted lips.
“Oh, my God,” Spencer whispers–mostly to himself.
Eyes blown wide and legs cramping, you concur with a soft, “yeah.”
Hesitantly and with great despair, he mutters, “I should really get back to my team…” What follows is a guilty gulp.
You nod and maneuver yourself off of him. You ignore the irritating sensation of the emptiness after being so full. The only thing wrong is that, in moving, you accidentally honk the horn with your ass. Twice.
Half mortified and half amused, you giggle. Your cheeks flush red.
You believe it’s appropriate to assume that his team definitely knows what–or rather who–he spent his paid time doing.

I wish you knew that even you . Can't get under my skin If I don't let you in.
Spencer sat at his desk, a pile of case files scattered across the surface. His mind, however, was not on the case. His thoughts lingered on her—the constant ache in his chest whenever JJ’s name came up. JJ. She was always there, bright and kind, and yet, Spencer couldn't seem to let go of the idea of being with her.
He knew, deep down, that he should move on. But it was hard. It always was with JJ. She had this way of being everything he needed, and at the same time, someone just out of reach. He had tried. He tried to convince himself that maybe there was a chance, that somehow, she'd see him the way he saw her. But he always came back to this: a cycle of hope, disappointment, and self-doubt.
Maybe it was the quiet comfort of her presence, the way JJ was there when the world seemed too much. And maybe that’s what kept him stuck. He couldn't help it, could he?
“Spence?” A voice broke through his thoughts. It was Garcia, walking into the bullpen with her usual cheerfulness.
“Hey, Garcia.” He forced a smile, trying to mask the heaviness he felt. He didn’t want to talk about this anymore, but he also knew Garcia could read him like a book.
“You’re still daydreaming a life with JJ, aren’t you?” she asked with a soft sigh.
Spencer rubbed his eyes. “I don’t know how to stop.”
I mean she told me she loved me …
Garcia leaned against the desk, crossing her arms. “Spence… you’ve been holding onto this for way too long. I get it, you love her. But sometimes, you’ve got to face the truth. Maybe it’s not meant to be, and that’s okay. You can’t keep living in this dream world where things turn out the way you want them to.”
He stared down at the case file, a sinking feeling in his stomach. Maybe she was right. Maybe he was just too afraid to let go.
“Have you ever thought about...maybe...there’s someone else?” Garcia said softly.
Spencer blinked, glancing up at her with furrowed brows. "Someone else?"
Garcia's eyes flickered toward you—sitting at your desk, buried in paperwork but with a subtle softness about you, a quiet understanding that Spencer couldn’t deny.
You had always been there. The quiet, kind person who listened when he needed it most. You didn’t push him to talk, but when you did speak, it always had a way of making him feel seen. And yet, he’d never once allowed himself to see you in that way. Not like that.
Why hadn’t he noticed before? He caught his breath, feeling a strange pang in his chest.
Garcia’s voice brought him back to the present. “You know, not everything has to be so complicated, Spence. Sometimes, we overlook the people who are right in front of us, just because we’re too wrapped up in the idea of what could be. Maybe you should stop looking at what you think you want, and look at what’s really there.”
Spencer swallowed hard, her words lingering in his mind. Had he been so focused on the idea of JJ that he failed to see what was standing right in front of him?
He glanced at you again. This time, his gaze didn’t just linger—it searched for something. And as his eyes studied the way you worked so quietly, so effortlessly, there was a growing realization that maybe, just maybe, you were everything he needed.
But it was a thought he hadn’t allowed himself to entertain until now. How could he have been so blind?
A tight knot formed in his throat. Why didn’t I see it sooner?
You looked up then, your eyes catching his, and there was a softness in your gaze, like you knew exactly what was going on in his mind. Spencer quickly looked away, ashamed of himself.
How many times had you been there for him? How many times had you listened? And yet, he never once thought to see you like that.
Garcia’s voice was gentle as she spoke, snapping him out of his thoughts. “You deserve to be happy, Spence. But you can’t keep holding onto someone who doesn’t feel the same way. You deserve someone who sees you, who values you the way you’ve always wanted.”
He nodded, though the words seemed so much harder to grasp than they should have been. Maybe Garcia was right. Maybe he didn’t need JJ. Maybe what he needed was to stop looking so hard at the past and start seeing what was in front of him.
Spencer stood frozen, the words you had said to him swirling in his mind like a storm. He felt an overwhelming guilt, the kind that twisted his chest and made it hard to breathe. You had always been there, quietly supporting him, but he hadn’t been able to see it—he hadn’t been able to see you.
You watched him, your heart aching with the weight of everything left unspoken. The room felt suffocating, and the silence between you both was like a wall you didn’t know how to climb. You knew Spencer had been holding onto the idea of him and JJ for so long, and you understood it. You really did. But what hurt was the realization that, despite all this time, he hadn’t seen you the way you had hoped.
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. This isn’t about you, you told yourself. You have to let him go. But it wasn’t easy. Nothing was ever easy when it came to Spencer Reid.
“Spence,” you started, your voice quieter than usual, “I know you’ve been holding onto this idea of you and JJ for a long time. I get it.” You felt the words hit you harder than you expected. The truth stung. “If you’re not ready to move on, I understand. But I’ve been here, in front of you, the whole time.”
You could feel your hands trembling slightly, a quiet sign of the nervousness and pain that was trying to break through. You clenched them together, trying to hold it in.
"Maybe I should take my own advice," you continued, letting out a shaky sigh. "Maybe I need to stop making up illusions in my head about us." You forced yourself to look away, not able to meet his eyes as your heart pounded in your chest. "It’s not healthy," you added, a weak laugh escaping you as you wiped your hand across your face, trying to keep it together.
You took another step back, your throat tight, but you knew this was the only way. “I know I’m not JJ. I know I’m just me.”
Spencer’s chest tightened, his heart beating louder in his ears as he watched you pull away. He couldn’t bring himself to speak, frozen in place, guilt flooding him. He had been so consumed by his feelings for JJ, but now, looking at you—really seeing you—he realized the distance between you two had been of his own making.
But then, as you turned to walk away, he felt a sudden panic grip him. His legs moved before his mind could catch up, and in a moment, he reached out, grabbing your arm gently to stop you from leaving. His touch was tentative, unsure, but there was something desperate in it too. Something that screamed he didn’t want to let you walk away, not without a chance to explain himself.
You froze, your heart racing, and the knot in your chest tightened. This is it, you thought. He’s going to tell me to go.
But when Spencer spoke, his voice was low and filled with a quiet remorse. “Please... don’t walk away.”
His words were almost lost in the heavy silence between you. He hadn’t realized it until this moment, but now, standing in front of you, he saw everything he had overlooked—how you’d always been there for him. How he had pushed you away, blind to what was right in front of him. The realization hit him like a freight train.
“I didn’t know how to... I didn’t know how to move on from the idea of JJ,” he whispered, his voice breaking slightly. “I thought if I held onto that, maybe I wouldn’t feel this... this emptiness.” His eyes locked onto yours, his expression vulnerable and raw. “But now I see... I see that I’ve been holding onto the wrong things.”
You turned to face him, your eyes brimming with emotion, and for a moment, neither of you said anything. It was as if time had paused, and everything that had been left unsaid was hanging between you.
Finally, you spoke, your voice barely audible but filled with quiet strength. “Spence, I’m not asking for anything. I just wanted you to see me—really see me.” You took a deep breath. “I’m here, Spence. But if you can’t—if you’re not ready—then I have to step back.”
The words felt like they came from somewhere deep inside you, a place you hadn’t wanted to reach. But it was the only way to give him space, to give him the room to make his own decisions.
You took another step back, and Spencer felt something inside him crumble. He could hear the gentle hum of Garcia’s voice from across the room, watching from a distance, but it felt distant—almost irrelevant now. All he could think about was you.
Before you could move further, Spencer spoke again, his voice trembling. “I don’t want you to step back,” he said, more forcefully now, as though he couldn’t bear to let you go. “I... I’ve been so focused on the wrong things, and I’m sorry for that. I’ve been blind to what’s been right in front of me.”
Your chest tightened at his words, but there was a flicker of hope inside you. Maybe there’s something here. Maybe you had been wrong to think you’d need to give up on him entirely.
“Spence,” you whispered, your voice breaking as you met his gaze, “you don’t have to apologize. I’m just... I’m here. You don’t have to be alone in this.”
His hand reached out slowly, almost uncertain, but this time, you didn’t pull away. Instead, you let him take your hand, the warmth of his touch grounding you in the midst of the uncertainty. Spencer’s eyes were searching yours, his own feelings written plainly on his face. He didn’t know where this was going, but he was willing to find out. For the first time, Spencer felt like he wasn’t running from his own heart.
“I’m sorry,” he said again, softer now, but with more conviction. “And thank you... for being here.”
