I can’t believe I have 2,000 followers. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. I love this fandom, I love being in this space and reading all your brilliant fanfiction. I love getting absolutely goofy over Pedro Pascal with y’all. I love getting to talk about his upcoming roles, how cute his hair is, how dumb his outfit is, whatever. All of it.

ghost crew mother turned military leader. she's one of the few female characters we get to see with high military status and we get to see her growth up to that position. she loses so much but she always keeps going because its whats right. also best pilot in the galaxy is hera syndulla argue with a wall

3. alexsandr kallus

BEST REDEMPTION ARC IN ALL OF STAR WARS FIGHT ME ON THIS SUCK MY DICK AND BALLS also he's voiced by david oyelowo and that man has such an attractive voice. i fully believe that the fandom would not have accepted kallus's redemption arc w any other va bc the subtlety david oyelowo puts into that performance is fucking insane

favorite of the clones. to be fair he is everything that a clone is supposed to be which can be boring to some people, but i find it really interesting. his armor is by far my favorite armor in the show too which does contribute to him being up so high, sorry im a sucker for good character design

5. din djarin

father #1 on the list. pedro pascal bedroom voice, need i say more, but i will. hes such a morally gray character in the beginning but hes also so funny. bro asked luke skywalker if he was a jedi. din is the definition of main character who really wishes he wasn't one. also themes of religion and the intensity of different denominations of it is so interesting esp within star wars

father #2 on the list. his fighting style is one of my favorites in star wars, even though we mostly see that from him in his episodes in clone wars. also favorite clone design in terms of how he differentiates himself from the other clones aka not his armor

7. omega

child of father #2 on the list, but she's also so luke/ezra coded. she can make friends with everyone, including hounds, regardless of the shitty hand of cards she's been dealt. also she gambles and is a child which is hilarious

8. artoo

the character ever. if he were an organic being he would have the saddest story in star wars, besides obi-wan shhh. he's there for everything and even when c3po is reprogrammed to work for the empire during rebels, artoo isnt, showing how useful that lil mf is. also anyone that stands up to chopper is so brave in my book

9. torra doza (from resistance)

this is such a random pick, especially bc i dont really like the sequels and this show comes right before them, but i just remember her being such a good character. design again is a big thing in this, but she's also a super talented pilot which i love. she's optimistic and bubbly, which isnt my favorite thing in a character, but i like how she was done so she has to be on here. sorry i feel like nobody knows who she is

is this bc donald glover plays young lando? uh....neways lando did NOTHING WRONG. he gave up han because he had to protect his people and he ultimately makes up for doing that anyways. also charismatic and so so so sexy (all versions of him) what an iconic star wars character

Yap-Sesh number... Whatever: "Race-swapping", White supremacy, Misogyny, and Casting in Hollywood

Okay... so Tiktok kept trying to push clips of Walker Scobell and Mason Thames at Comic-con to me (I guess cuz I'm pretty active in pjo series fan spaces), and each time I would find myself quickly scrolling away or having no interest in seeing the clip.

And at first I thought, maybe it's because as much as i love Walker as Percy and as much as I think the cast are so adorable, I'm an adult and I'm not really one of his fan girls (for obvious reasons), so I'm not super interested in edits that are basically simping for him.

But the intensity with which I avoided these clips, I realized there was something else that was driving that feeling... it was resentment.

As you can see from my blog, I've invested a lot of time/energy pointing out the hypocrisy of the anti-blackness and backlash that has been thrown at Leah Jeffries for her casting as annabeth, as well as consistently coming to her defense against the bigots I've encountered on literally every social media site I've used. And I'm already pre-exhasuted knowing that I'm going to have to do the same thing for Nico Parker when the httyd movie comes out, despite the fact that she is just as white as Pete Wentz and more white than KJ Apa (who y'all had no problem with him dying his hair and playing canonically white Archie Andrews), the backlash she's going to get is insane and it's going to be a Leah Sava Jeffries situation all over again.

But when Zendaya or Jaz Sinclair or Amanadla Stenberg play fully black characters, with two black parents, you don't see the black community up in arms and losing our shit. But God forbid somebody who is 3/4s white play a white character and suddenly y'all wanna bring up the one-drop rule and start preaching about racial purity. You people are genuinely closet white supremacists.

The httyd movies might be based on aspects Scandinavian culture, but they aren't actually historically accurate to Norse (or "viking" as some of y'all like to call it) culture. It's like with Game of Thrones or D&D, the setting is inspired by real cultures but the contents are fantastical and don't require any "Ethnic accuracy" (what's that thing about white people can hold their disbelief for dragons but not POC in fantasy? 💀).

Which is crazy because NONE OF THE CAST (including the fully white actors) ARE ETHNICALLY SCANDINAVIAN. Furthermore, Mason Thames looks NOTHING like Hiccup. Hiccup is supposed to be an awkward, gangly nerd in the first movie and Mason Thames looks like a highschool Jock (which I don't mind. Cuz unlike y'all, I'm more interested in his acting and portrayal of the character).

Y'all did the same thing with Rachel Ziegler and snow white, who is in every way racially white and fair skinned, but y'all lost your shit because her mom is Colombian (news flash, Latinos can be white also. Ask Anya Taylor Joy). I think it goes beyond white supremacy though, y'all are also just misogynistic because when Keanu Reeves (half white) plays Jonathan Harker in Dracula, or Pedro Pascal (Latino) plays Joel and is in gladiator or Oscar Isaac (Latino) plays a welsh folk singer or a british noble or Mark-Paul Gosselar (Half-white) plays the iconically white all-american teen, Zack Morris for 5 years, it's suddenly not a problem.

Everytime y'all dogpile on a WOC actress like this, it's with this idea that they're getting an "unfair advantage". Hollywood is pushing it's "Woke agenda" and a hardworking white actress lost a role because a less-talented woc is "stealing" the spot. So you drag them in the name of "accuracy to the source material". But again, in 2024 71% of lead theatrical roles were played by white people and every other racial group made up 29%. Where is this hollywood woke agenda?

It's so funny, because it works the exact opposite because a WOC getting this kind of role is a once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence, and then she's tokenized by hollywood for a few years and then left to dry.

I always think about how Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyongo both had similar buzz when they first broke into Hollywood, and alot of people would put them at similar talent levels in terms of acting (I personally thing Lupita washes Jlaw, tbh). Yet over the course of their career, look at the quality of roles hollywood has offered each. Look at who hollywood pushed in the limelight over and over again.

When Percy Jackson and HTTYD are over, both Walker and Mason are going to get the hollywood white boy of the month treatment. Hollywood is going to try to make them leading men and put them in EVERYTHING. Like they did with Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Chris pratt, Leo DiCaprio, even going back to James Dean in the 50s. And it's not to say that these men aren't talented, but it is the reality of where the bias lies in hollywood. Nico Parker, despite being a literal Nepo Baby, will never get the pure number of opportunities Mason gets, simply because MOST lead roles are written with white people as the default (keeping in mind that she is LITERALLY more white than she is black) and most lead roles still go to men.

It's just so unfair that these are young hard-working actors who have done nothing to y'all but because of pure racism and misogyny (that's what it is, even if you personally feel like it's not), look at the difference in the experience Leah and Nico have versus Walker and Mason. The difference in peace of mind. Feeling loved and supported vs being told you don't belong and you're not good enough. It's so reflective of real life for WOC and white men in general.

Everyone says they believe in "equality" and "hiring based on merit" and "representation is important", but most of y'all are lying. How are we ever going to get to point of actual equal representation in hollywood, when this is how white people act while they are STILL the majority? And don't say it's because of "race-swapping" because Amandla Stenberg has gotten racial backlash TWICE. Once when she played a character that was written to be black, but got backlash from white audiences because they had imagined the character white (and once again, the character was supposed to be fully black AND darker-skinned, but you didn't see black people losing our mind that she was being played by a light-skinned, biracial actor); and second in the acolyte, where she played a COMPLETELY ORIGINAL CHARACTER and still got racial abuse (yes, I have heard the show isn't very good, but the backlash started before it came out so save the gaslighting).

And for the Walker and Mason fans who are going to ignore the entire thesis of this post and interpret it as a hate-post towards your faves... this is literally a blog dedicated to the pjo live-action. I love Walker as Percy. He's seems like a really sweet kid and I'm glad he's getting all the recognition he's getting. And I love how supportive he's been of Leah. Same with Mason, he was great in Black Phone and I have no doubt he'll kill it in HTTYD. But would y'all ever give that level support or benefit of the doubt to their costars?

Also, also... for all the weirdos who are going to catch on the Rachel Ziegler example and say "oh it wasn't her race, she shit-talked the character" blah blah blah. No she didn't. Y'all took a few interview clips out of context and joined in on a misogynistic hate campaign from the anti-woke brigade like y'all did with Brie Larson. There was already backlash to her casting before she had even done a single interview. Why don't y'all save the hate for the literal Zionist that is playing the evil queen (apt title tho 🤔) instead?

warning for tlou ep 4 spoilers (and TLOU Part 2) but:

not to be horribly meta on main but I'm mainly screaming over how this episode exemplified how well this story was adapted to a television format, ESPECIALLY regarding the themes that ND has repeatedly stated he wanted to explore in the TLOU Part 2 that maybe didn't quite land the way he meant them to

(Benioff and Weiss and their hatred for eighth grade book reports should be taking copious notes rn lol)

I remember when the second game came out and there was this big to-do about how the perspective towards "villains" had changed - not just in the fact that you spend half the game playing as Abby (Joel's killer), but that the developers had actually given names to all the NPCs that end up as cannon fodder for the player. The AI was supposed to be so advanced that for every enemy you killed as either Abby or Ellie, the NPC would beg for their life or curse you as you make the final blow or whatever, and then when their NPC friends found them you would hear their wailing and crying out for "Beck" or "Miranda" or whomever the fuck and the whole idea was that it was supposed to make you the player really think about the implications of taking a human life and the cycle of revenge yadda yadda yadda.

Which is a GREAT CONCEPT, but I just remember how...tedious it became, after a while. TLOU Part 2 got a lot of flak for a lot of reasons (some more valid than others imo) but I personally think its impossibly difficult to instill the lesson of "taking a life is something that carries real emotional weight" through the medium of a video game where you are mowing down LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. That's just par for the course - you end up killing so many people that after a while their names mean nothing, BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY TO CONTINUE THE GAME WITHOUT DOING SO. (I remember one reviewer talking about how fatigued they were with it - they didn't want to be killing all these people and stabbing dogs and they as a player were screaming through their fingers at the decisions Ellie was making to continue down this cycle of violence but there was no way to continue the game without going through it, even though the point had already been hammered home over and over again to the point where it was exhausting, we get it, killing should not be this easy but this is a video game for fuck's sake).

And maybe that was also the point was to make the player wonder how some characters (like Joel, maybe) eventually become so numb to the concept of taking life, but I just remember it being a point in Part 2 that ultimately just...kind of missed the mark.

And BOY OH BOY did the show hit it in this episode.

Literally, TLOU Part 2 wanted to make its point by naming hundreds upon hundreds of NPCs and TLOU Episode 4 managed to hit it with a single character named Bryan.

I think it also helps that when Joel is shooting back at the "hunters" (idk what they're calling them in the show canon but that's what they were at the game) we don't really see them die onscreen, so it makes Bryan's eventual demise even starker. But holy fuck hearing him plead with Ellie and Joel for his life hit so much harder than it ever did in the game. Hearing him try to bargain with a little girl, screaming for his mom only to go silent...I freaking love Joel and even then in that moment I felt that horror and slight...idek what to call it, not even disgust but just the moral grayness of it all made my stomach churn.

Ellie's tears felt so deserved in that moment. Even Joel's moment of hesitation (fuck you Pedro Pascal I hate how good you are at EVERYTHING) even as you know this must have been a thing he's done thousands of times before and even as necessary you might consider Bryan's death to be. Even as justified it may have been to kill an enemy in that moment, "It doesn't get any easier" is something that rings true. I believe it.

tldr; another banger episode from a team that knows what the fuck a theme is and how to tie that into your story with subtlety and nuance and FUCK EVERYONE AT NAUGHTY DOG AND HBO I CAN'T KEEP GETTING MY HEART BROKEN FOR ANOTHER MONTH AND A HALF

GRRM literally put Mediterranean, Palestine, Moorish Spain and WALES in a oriental cauldron and created Dorne. On the other hand, ASOIAF fanartists be drawing Dornish women in sarees and ghagra cholis and fancast Golshifteh Farahani, an Iranian actress, as Elia. Be serious y’all.

Penelope Cruz, Nina Dobrev, Mila Kunis are olive-skinned but they’re still unambiguously white.

"Olive" skin/toned skin is supposed to mean:

moderate or lighter tan or brownish skin, and it is often described as having tan, brown, cream, greenish, yellowish, or golden undertones

Therefore, anyone of any race can have an "olive" tone to their skin, as you see above.

The Dornish who live around/closer to the coasts are described as having "olive" skin. Therefore IF we wanted to, we have a lot of justification to have white Martells AS WELL AS actors of other races play them....bc the Martells have married many different peoples of Dorne and beyond and Dorne is not a brown territory nor a PoC one. It's pretty diverse and there is no real "racism" within the actual territory where they recognize each other as socially different by skin color like in real life except to say maybe that that person comes from the desert/the mountains/the coast or from this-that house. And that' not racism. Maybe.

However, I also don't think all Dornish characters NEED to be PoC and Pedro Pascal is not PoC. There are white Latinx i can't totally fault people for thinking the Martells are PoCs bc many came into this series from GoT where some PoC actors played some Dornish people AND people want to see themselves on screen/fantasy genre and its fans can be and are often racist asf. I mean, look at HotD!

However, if we're talking about Dorne having been always a PoC territory bc of the show, that's just false. And Baelor Breakspear? I said this on Twitter:

My thoughts on HBO's The Last of Us

A bit different from my usual content, but this has been on my mind.

The things I liked/loved:

The backstory of how the infection started. I like that they embellished and explained it, I always wondered how the infection came to be.

Pedro Pascal is a great Joel and honestly looks a lot like him, idk why people were complaining about his casting, I think he's a very good Joel.

Ashley Johnson playing Ellie's mother ahhh. First of all, I just loved seeing her in the show because as soon as I heard her voice, I may have teared up a little because that's my Ellie😭 Also I love the symbolism of her playing Ellie's mother because she's giving life to the character. Ellie is her baby, she made that character and I just love the symbolism of her literally giving birth to a character that is so near and dear to her.

The fact that so many scenes were nearly word for word from the original scene, I love the respect for the source material. Also love the fact that, because it was a show instead of a movie, they were actually able to include nearly everything and even added extra scenes/moments that worked to embellish what was already there.

The things I wasn't crazy about:

The change from the spores to the fungus or the vine growth or whatever they changed it to? I saw some people liking this change because they thought it made more sense for a show and it was "more realistic" but tbh I just don't like it. I don't really care if it makes more sense, I was looking forward to all the characters except Ellie needing to wear gas masks. How are they going to do the scene where Ellie's mask breaks and Dina tries to share hers only for Ellie to rip her mask off and reveal that she is, in fact, immune? Or the scene where Nora is dying because she's breathed in spores and she sees Ellie breathing easily and she has the realization of "Oh shit, you're the girl." Are they just not going to do these scenes? Because I loved these moments and I was looking forward to seeing them in the show.

Why was Sam younger than Ellie? He was supposed to be the same age as her because it's the first person she's had around her age since Riley. Sam was supposed to be her first friend since Riley, and instead, he was more like a little brother. I don't hate that dynamic by any means in any other show, but not for this. Sam was around Ellie's age in the game for a reason and it just doesn't have the same impact in the show tbh.

I liked how the show gave Bill & Frank more of a backstory and made it clear that they were romantically involved, but goddamn I was really disappointed that we didn't get the Ellie & Bill banter.

The way Joel gets "impaled" in the show makes NO sense and I hate that scene. In the game, he's tussling with an enemy until they both go over a ledge and Joel falls on a spike, causing him to be impaled. Ellie comes to his rescue and gets him to stand up so they can leave and get away from the bad guys. On their way to safety, Joel ends up collapsing because he is bleeding out and Ellie ends up having to take care of him. But in the show a guy just stabs him with something and Joel fucking takes it out??? I'm not even a survivalist and I know that you're not supposed to fucking remove whatever you've been stabbed with. I know Joel's ass has to know that. So why does he take it out? He takes it out for plot reasons- because Joel has to be bleeding out so Ellie has to take care of him, but it doesn't make sense this way. It makes sense in the game because he has to stand up so that he & Ellie can escape to safety. He doesn't have a choice in the game but to get off of the spike. But he has a choice in the show. He didn't have to remove the knife or whatever he was stabbed with. He could have kept it in until he & Ellie got to safety and he could explain to her what needed to be done. Are we supposed to believe that this man doesn't have the most basic survival instincts, that he doesn't know something that most people know? I didn't like this scene in the show, I have no idea why they changed it.

This is speculation for season 2, but are we not going to get Cat?? I really want to see what happened between Ellie & Cat and how their relationship worked in comparison to Ellie & Dina. If they gave Frank a backstory and embellished his relationship with Bill, they can absolutely do it with Cat, and I will call it sexism and lesbophobia if they don't tbh. Give me Cat.

There are a few other small things that they either added or changed or excluded that I wasn't super thrilled about, but these are the more major things that stood out to me. All this being said, don't get me wrong: I still very much enjoyed the show and absolutely think it's definitely one of the best adaptations out there. And if it weren't based on a game that means the world to me, I wouldn't have had any problems with the show if it were a completely original story. But as an adaptation, I still think it's very good, but it just doesn't live up to the game imo

okay so i read a fanfic with this plot and i can’t stop thinking about it and i really would love to do it with someone if anyone is interested!  basically, muse a and muse b have been best friends their entire life, they were always that duo everyone thought would end up together but things never went in a romantic route ( other than a few drunk kisses they never talked about throughout their late teens ) and now muse a has been dating his girlfriend for the last two years but was still just as close with muse b despite his girlfriend’s hidden jealousy. they’re now in their mid-twenties and muse a really wants to have a child and to start a family but his girlfriend is unable to carry them due to medical reasons. the topic of surrogates is brought up when he and muse b are hanging out one night and since she would do anything to make her best friend happy, she offers to carry his baby. after a sperm donation and a visit to the clinic, muse b finds out two weeks later that she’s pregnant and muse a couldn’t be happier and believes his girlfriend is just as over the moon as he is. unfortunately, she isn’t. it’s not until muse b is over four months pregnant that his girlfriend drops a bombshell – she doesn’t want to be a mother and she thought that she’d change her mind as things went further along but she can’t. the break up comes next and overwhelmed by the turn of events, muse b starts to panic and wonder what the hell she’s going to do. even though half of the baby’s dna is her own, she hadn’t been prepared to actually raise it but luckily muse a doesn’t bring up his expectations on the matter. he still wants to be a dad but doesn’t want to make muse b feel any pressure to be by his side when the baby is born. they don’t talk about it for the next few weeks and as time goes on, they get closer. muse a is super supportive and involved with the pregnancy, making sure to go to the doctor appointments with her and prenatal classes. he brushes off her mood swings and when she’s craving chocolate cupcakes at two in the morning, he doesn’t think twice about getting up and going to the store to get them for her. feelings start to develop and muse b comes to the conclusion that she’s inlove with him and thinks she always has been, despite wanting to push those feelings away when they were growing up. muse b also realizes that she wants to raise the baby with him and after an emotional conversation and mutual confessions come to light, they end up sleeping together and all seems like it’s falling into place. it’s not until the morning after that muse a gets a phone call from his ex, who suddenly has a change of heart and wants to get back together. to be a mother like they had originally planned… drama ensues.

when the m.ob princess meets the m.ob prince: forbi.dden love is always angsty so why not do that and add rival g.angs to the mix?  muse a is the daughter of the head boss of the local g.ang and is sick and tired of having her life controlled by her overprotective father. so, to rebel against his wishes after an argument, muse a decides to go to a nightclub that her father had always f.orbidden her to attend. unknown to her, the club is run by the rival ga.ng’s boss’ son, muse b, and not knowing who she is, can’t stop looking at her on the dance floor. they eventually bump into each other and after having a few drinks, end up at muse a’s apartment and they ho.ok up. i was thinking they both never brought up their families and their true professions and maybe start to hang out/go on dates and then bam, the truth comes out and drama begins. especially when they can’t stay away from each other.

i need a famous ship where they’re both insanely busy with album recordings & red carpets & tours & they’re trying to make this whole long distance relationship work but with the time differences & going months without seeing each other it’s difficult, not to mention all the rumors & shit. but then there’s all the cute things like showing up on tour to surprise each other & going to award shows together & just finally seeing each other again after going so long with only facetime dates, missed calls, & late night texts to get them by. honestly idek where i’m going with this i just know that i really want it ??? but like this or message me & we can figure everything out k cool

Hey there, you can call me Kim! I am 21+, living in the CST time zone. I am looking to roleplay of the Last of Us. Particularly the show because that’s the only thing I’ve seen. However, that does not mean that I do not know the lore of the last of us. I do know what happens and I do know the gist of it. I just prefer to do the show because of Pedro Pascal. With the new photos that we saw for season two I am just wanting to do a role-play about it.

Incoming unpopular opinion. Did it not occur to anyone that Filoni, much like Taika in marvel, just doesnt have the respect for the majority of the characters of Star Wars that - say- Favreau with IronMan or others have? Who the hell treats the Mandalorians like he has? Why the hell were either of them allowed to treat Luke like that? 😤 Who wouldn't understand & acknowledge that there's a SAG and WGA strike ongoing and then refuse to be on the front lines / voicing support? They're both writers & directors/producers. And Favreau (like a certain New Zealander) is also an actor. Plus wtf 🙃 was with Kennedy & Filoni being allowed say on Mando s3?

First off, the Nightsisters were never said to be Dark Side Witches except by maybe Dooku and Palpatine. Look where that motivation is coming from. Second, the Zabrak aren't from Dathomir. They're from Iridonia. And they don't always have red/orange skin. That's kind of specific to the *subspecies* that developed on Dathomir. The Nightsisters are literally referred to as 'dathomiri witches'. Third, they're not using the Force. Did 😒 no one see any clips of (or play) Fallen Order or Survivor? Merrin is thought to be one of the very last of her kind. She literally explains to Cal that their Magic isn't the Force.

That leads me to my fourth and fifth points. No4: Filoni is just making shit up at this point, i would hope reviewers would understand this. Why would there be something beyond the 'unknown regions'? This isn't some dinky galaxy we're playing in with Star Wars. Have you SEEN the Star Map for the number of worlds just in the Outer Rim? There are hundreds of solar systems and nebulae and solar clouds and tunnels (wormholes). And he wants you to think that there's a whole new set of worlds beyond 'unknown space'. 🤣😅 I explained about the Dathomiri already but lets use an actual Dark Force God. In Legends, the eldritch horror Abeloth lurks in a cluster of black holes called The Maw. Its within the edges of the Outer Rim - Inside the known universe of Star Wars. There's hardly anything *known* about the areas outside the Outer Rim; its why the name is Wild Space & the *Unknown* Regions. JFC.

After what has been written about beloved characters in the sequels, in Mando, and even with Boba not having starring roles in his own series, I find it highly insulting as a fan that yall just take this dummy's word that this is gospel. Like holy shit, do some basic research TOR before raving about how great ep 6 was for canon.

Canon so far has been dogshit. S3 of Mandalorian, the cliffhangers of both Boba Fett & Kenobi, the shit writing... The only great thing out of Disney post lucasfilm buy is Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian and getting to see Morrison as Boba. --> 🫠😵 I find it super insulting that Disney would retcon *their own canon* from games/books/earlier shows to allow Elspeth and the 'Great Mothers' to have the Force. To say that this 'never before known planet' is some special jedi place. To hint that Thrawn might be the main antagonist when no one can say that with the strike or books that are *already out*. Icould keep going but yall bore me. Ewww.
